Even after google i still couldnt find a proper answer.
Am no full berserker but im speccing for damage, using a typical GS build. It seems like my options are Fire, Force and Bloodlust. What do you guys think is the most efficient?
Hi, I am using S/D now and I have been having some thoughs over my build. My build focuses on having high crit damage and average crit chance, while TRYING to maintain long fury duration without doing major tweaks to the build (0/25/0/15/30). So far I have 6 ruby orb jewel armor 80% crit damage 42% crit chance. I noticed that with 42% it’s still very low and Fury is a very much needed boon. So I had my thoughs to use +% boon duration runes instead of my orb jewls, having 2x Water sup and 2x Monk sup with 2X ruby orb jewel, BUT that means that my fury will only last for another second, 60% X 2 / 100 is around 1.2 seconds more fury. Is it even worth going for boon durations for fury? Any other suggestions to get maintain Fury? Or should I stop seeking for fury and get as much Crit damage and power as possible?
As the title asks, just a little fun thread looking at what everyone’s most used weapon set so far.
I’m usually using almost all the weapons depends on situation (defensive, offensive or just fun). But GS is up all the time for me, with Rifle at second choice. Using shield A LOT. Lately I tried LB and I like it a lot now. Might switch my rifle for LB, it really is sweet.
Is that even possible to get such a high toughness? Do you mean Armor by any chance?
What is your opinion/criticism/advices etc on this rune set?
I know most of the players here dont like it and believe there are far better options, however having enought money to experiment i gave it a go. I also used ruby orbs and soldier runes.
It really is not that bad, not that bad atll… Infact its actually really good. It provides with just that little extra defensive and survivalb utillity to just either save myself, survive longer, or able to produce full HB + whirling to produce high damage in high fractals. I used to be limited with range in high fractals, but it actually saves me every 50s and helps deal some ridicolous damage.
I think warriors have enought damage utilliies they can use, and every creative way of providing survivability ( that also helps damage) is a bless for a warrior in high fractals.
Why does my fire skills do 5k damage, churnning earth does almost 6k crit damage, yet my meteor shower barely hits the 2.5k ~? goes 3k if im lucky. why is there such a huge differences between these two, and why is there even a difference in damage?
for stats, i have 90% crit damage, 1900 power.
Taking fractals aside, it is pretty obvious that even the hardest content( Arah i think?) is still quite easy. But what is more important, is effective play necessary to complete a so called hard content.
It is widely believed and pretty much proved, that a DPS based team will suffer much less troubles than a team based on support. It is eventually simple: kill before you get killed. From such theory for example the 4 zerk warriors team for cof was created.
Dps vs support, it is very simple DPS was just more effective.
Taking fractals back, it seems like anet’s hard content intentions will change the way we think. In high fractals enemies now have a lot of hp, causing us to stay a live longer, for us to provide more DPS, obviously due to high HP. It is also very rare teams are doing runs without atleast one guardian. Will players ow focus less about effective dps, and more about how to survive longer?
Also, it seems like the higher the content, the moretrinity will find gw2 back. Didnt anet want to avoid that by taking trinity off?
I stick to my guts that Staff is very, very underpowered. With my DD Ele I deal ~5k Churnning earth, while my MS barely deals 1.5k~, with ~2,5k on crits. Sup? I have 3k epower and 90% Crit damage.
I recommend Runes of rage (+20% fury duration and 5% chance to gain 30 seconds of fury on any hit – which seems to proc all the time – and 30 seconds is a lifetime!)
i have a combo of PVT gear with cavaliers trinkets & a Berzerker weapon – this gives me around 70% crit dmg and around 25% crit chance. With perma fury im criting every other hit.
I watch ALOT of woodenpotatoes vids and my build is inspired by his recent arcane build with some alterations. i use both d/d and staff for fractals and dungeons depending on the encounter. the crits are generally better with dagger obviously because of Zephyrs Boon but its still tolerable with the staff.. and the staff only really comes into play when i dont trust my dodging skills on a certain encounter or where its much more beneficial to be at range (such as Jade Maw)
Sigil of Intelligence is also really useful, free crit on atunement swap. which if we are playing correctly will be VERY often. combine this with Runes of rage and arcane skills and you’ll get extremely frequent criticals with a relatively low critical chance. allowing you to throw those points into something else (such as crit damage)
Rage runes are a good shout, however im kind of hurt changing my ruby orbs… They gove me so much damage…:/ us in high fractals
I am trying not to get hit, which might means the 5% chance might be bad for me?
Oh and the ice spike idea is nice! Will try that.
I notived that i have a very low crit chance with this build. Which ways do i have to gain fury/perma fury?
Ok…Inspired by his video…This is the build I have made for high fractals:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/elementalist/?1.0|6.1p.0|0.0.0.0.0.0|1g.a7.1g.a7.1c.a7.1g.a7.1n.a7.1g.a7|1i.67.1i.67.1g.67.1g.67.1g.67.8g.67|0.p51.0.f5.u58b|0.0|1m.1r.1q.1v.29|e
Do you think I have enough survivability? Do you think I have enough damage?
P.S Soldiers and Knights are there due to money. :P
I…I think. I could have sworn he had a staff build showing the ice spike skill and also explaining that the build offers extra 10% damage while traiting to water..
On another manner, he is so funny when he says dagger dagger :P
Hi, I’m looking for a high crit damage staff build, producing as much damage as possible while having some survivals. Not berserker. I remember people were posting a video of Woodenpotatoes with his elementalist build which I found quite nice. It had two versions, pve and fractals, and it was mainly Arcane build. Anyone got the link?
Lyssa runes are not worth the slot absolutely.
The only worth-mentioning boon is Protection which is really just 5s.
Earth runes provide better results and add a 5sec anti-projectile shield when 20% health, much better.
Forge runes too, 12s protection @ 50% health is great.
Sometimes i dont know if you are aware of what you are writing. This js a very missleading message.
There is no way earth and forge runes are any better. The earth runes offers you protection only for 4s on 25%, and a pathetic magnetic shield below 20% ( which offers. Othing at this stage) for internal 90CD. An entire rune set for 4s protection?
Runes of lyssa fives you 10s protection, and far more boons which are worth it, on the 90CD of your earth runes.
Oh yeah you also have constant 6% increased damage from empowered for having perma swift, might and fury. 16% increase for 10 seconds overall over your earths. Cool down.
I would say put those 20 points from tactics to discipline to get signet mastery and mobile strikes. Also while you need contition removal I’m not sure about sigil of generosity. It only procs once every 10 seconds and only removes 1 condition. Maybe force or fire is more useful.
An honest question, wouldnt Sweet Revenge be an optimal trait? It sounds like it is almost better than any skill keeping you alive, since you can almost never get downed completely if you are in a middle of a fight and have enough power to catch a small health mob and revive yourself without relaying on a teammate.
I had my thoughts to use Hammer for tough high lvl fractals instead of greatsword for its great control skill which can save the party/ make it simply a lot easier.
What do you think, is it worth the trouble or would Gs be suffice enough( im yet to experience it witha hammer)?
I cant view the build somehow, however your build sounds very interesting, dynamic and well thought.
I’m a huge fan of Condition Damage despites its obvoius and disturbing flaws, yet again however, i’m rietracting it from using it on a Warrior. I have two characters only on lvl 80 which I play frequently, Warrior and Elementalist. I have found the warriour to be able to produce an insane DPS on crit build compared to my elementalist. i decided to try CD on ele and felt in love.
That is why i have a problem with ur build, as much as it is fun and powerful, it will always be inferior and annoying compared to a crit warrior.
I would give it a plus if we could like in gw1, switch. Etween builds and enjoy playing differently on each occassion. Got no Cd player in party? Run one yourself and be powerful, but will be too expensive and troubling.
If you are more into pve then you might to also find a balance between the weapons and the build itself. You might not fully utillize CD with DD, but it willshine with a staff for example. With eruption you can actually max bleeds by
Yourself, or keep bleeding at 10-15+ constantly, simply by casting eruption, use your other skills – eruption again(4s recharge) – lava font (3 might) – MS – Burnning – lava font – dodge for 3 might stacks and repeat with eruption. With sigil of battle you will have on average ~ 15 stacks of might. You will produce around 150 per bleed ( will be on around 10 stacks of bleed), 800 per burnning, 1k per MS, 700 per lava font, 1k per eruption. ( the damage is average and doesnot include the might stacks)

Anyone noticed that staff produce far lower damage than a dd or sd ele
It didn’t effect me. I might be a minority here, but I’m not a fan of the Air Water and Arcana build. It is very balanced it’s true, but I think, eventually, and overall, I can have much more balance, and on almost all occasions, produce far greater damage with 0/0/30/10/30 CD build.1300 toughness, 18K HP which me high survivability, and as well as I have 1400 CD, 1600 with sigil, and 1600 power. I can produce around 2.5K from CD alone without any might. My power is high enough for my skills to produce decent damage as well. I also have almost constatly 15-20 stacks of might from Sigil of battle, Eruption combo and Attunement switch.
your build is worthless in DE’s, 1v1’s, wvw, spvp and any dungeon with other condition stacker.
ele is not the most optimal class for condi damage.
but hey, if that works well for you so be it.
In DE in this game you don’t need more than a few staff damage to complete it. You don’t need high damage at all, as long as you get a few hits for your loot/reward. There are enough loads of people who do the DE so it really doesn’t matter how much damage you do, it will end fast with a huge zerg. In 1v1 it is infact the most optimal, you produce insane damage which is hard to remove (your opponent won’t manage to remove Burning and Bleeding EVERYTIME) and the damage your burning and bleeding are doing will allow you to also dodge and heal in risky situations will your opponent is still recieving damage. Same applies to WvW, but it is also depends. My build is mainly for dungeons, though as I don’t wvw much.
Eles might not be the most optimal in mastering CD, I can agree with you, but CD will allow Elementalist to produce far greater damage (key here is IMO). It is well known eles DPS isn’t the best, or as it should. I’m also playing warrior as my main, and the damage differences are a joke (zerker wise).

Hi…I would like to compare some Ele builds damage by DPS, are there any calculators that I can compare builds to see which, eventually has higher DPS?
It has a 9 seconds cool down.
I’m always willIng to listen. Its only the first start theorycraft of the build. It was obvious i’m going to tweak it and is the sole reason for posting it here. So far i thought of taking off 10 points from dscipline and putting on tactics for the Empowered, and equipping a berseker amulet. Lol.
That is still an insanely tanky build. You won’t be doing much damage… I’d hate to see the numbers from your old build if this is a step towards damage. I’d give advice, but I doubt you’d like it.
If anything I learned by, is to accept and calculate any advice I receive without first judge. I mentioned it more than once that I’m in favor for survival, since else it can go all the way down to full zerk.
I though this build actually had a significant increase in damage while keeping pulse on survival. I will actually post my old build for comprasions.
I repeat, ANY suggestion is welcome.

Hello…
After a long time of playing with the Immortal warrior (shout heal tank) build, I decided to eventually ditch it as I felt too defensive, something which is pretty much not the warrior’s main purpose, let’s face. It’s highest DPS in the game is for a reason. It might just be more effective to produce more DPS…
I’d like to mention that this build is mainly for the current high end content, and for future high end update which will probably come… That means, I have a huge favor for survival in my heart, that won’t allow me to go full berserker. As much as I love, and want to produce insane damage, I want to first and foremost survive and be powerful at taking damage. Immortal gave me that, but it lacked a huge damage.
So, this is the current setup I have built. I have yet to test it, it’s still a theorycraft as I currently have full Exotic armor and weapons I will have to overhaul.

(link only works if you copy it to adress)
-using Forceful Greatsword to provide me with constant ~15-25 stacks of might ( +fgj and sor)
-relaying on Shield Stance, Endure Pain and Defy Pain to save me from sticky situations (^^)
-Healing Surge for a big healing
-shouts for condition removal ( i found this very helpful)
Gear:
Full knight’s armor power precison toughness
6x soldier runes, for extra tough, vitality and condition removal
Knight Great sword + Sigil of Blood (any other suggestions?)
Defensive shield + sword – with two Sigils of energy for extra dodging (Do two sigils of energy even work? If not, which other defensive sigil can i put on my sword/shield? Thinking of Sigil of Leeching)
Full Cavalier power toughness crit dmg
I also know that toughness is a aggro magnet…But I still want to be tanky. Any modification? As I have said, I’m always leaning more towards survival than damage, but any critics are welcome.
P.S from my old shout heal build i’m used to deal ~600 per gs attack, ~6-8k per 100b. I wonder how much damage i will do now…

Primarly pve. Im not focused on earth only.
At Razor, what is your build/spec? Im aiming for a balanced build that will also provide decent healt and armor. Am not interested in going. Erserker.
Hi! Im currently running an condition damage build on my ele, as stated above. So far i have managed to get my CD number to 1400, raising to 1600 with corruption sigil, not calculating might.
So by numbers, that means, i’m ticking for 122 bleed, and 828 for burnning.
More numbers, on average i’m doing about rougly 2,250 damage per second from conditions only( assuming i only have 12 stacks of bleed from 2x eruption, i cab easly gain much more stacks from more eruptions and earth skills) not counting the raw damage. On average im doing about 500 damage with eruption, 400 with lava font, and ~ 600 with each MS hit. So that mean… A minimum of ~ 2,650 damage per second from small bleed stacking and average lowest hit.
If calculating highest hit, it can go up to 3,600 damage per second( with extra might, 600 raw damage and 18 stacks of bleeding, 3x eruption)
I’m wondering if can the 0/10/0/30/30 build out damage these numbers? Can it be more effective? Assuming I also gain some decent toughness and vitality numbers. Dont have my pc currently so i cant actuay provide more exact numbers, but im in a concern wether i should drop the Condition based bias on e and for all and move on.
I go with DD because i prefer it the most. It has great damage and i like daggers. The. build is also viable with staff, which is not always better than DD. spamming wruption is extremely effective tho. Lately i have been using Arcane Wave for the extra might stacking.
Signet of air grants 25%, but only shows as giving 10%.
That depends really. Some glyph are very powerful, but some signets are very useful. Signet of air actually saves my life on occasion, is a very nice speed boost, and does some little aoe damage. Signet of fire also shines on single targets, love it. Sor i dont think i need to mention. The fourth signet is rather a problem i agree. Both water and earth are not convincing, which is why i switch it with other skills ( for example glyph of storms for staff, conjure bow for AC Burrows etc).
Some small Pro’s and Con’s:
+ It doesn’t matter how much armor the enemy has, CD ignores armor!
+ Together with the Earth trait, it provides with excellent defense together with damage
+ Elementalist has options for both Burning and bleeding.
+ With~1300 Condition Damage, you can create massive, massive damage. I’m talking about almost 2500 damage per second when coordinating correctly, from CD ONLY.
+ Gives you free rule to roll either Staff or D/D (and S/D) without having to change almost anything
+ Besides CD, my raw damage is pretty awesome. My normal DPS is between 400 to 700, and my skills can cause around 2000 damage per skill.
- CD has it’s flaws. IF there is another CD player in the party, you will be less effective. It doesn’t neutralize you tough.
- Conditions on you will be a problem as you don’t have many removal options
- The CD durations are quite bad, and it might be a little less effective against Champtions and veterans (or long fights), but you still produce massive damage, so just re-apply the conditions.
- Your critics chances are very very low and you shouldn’t be based on it in any chance.
This is it for now…I will continue to try and update this post to avoid mistakes. I made this thread quite fast as I was hyped into posting it already, so I might have missed some information and details, and my english wasn’t on top today.

Hello!
After playing Warrior for a long time as been my main and only proffesion ( my heart just couldn’t get attracted to anything else), I decided try Elementalist. After further playing and experiencing, I couldn’t but fall in love!
One object(s) that caught my eye was the conditions I create and the damage I produce as an Elementalist. I’m well aware that Critics based builds are very strong and powerful, and are the most found build used in the game currently, however I decided to try and revive the old unpopular way of playing as an elementalist, and that is mastering the Condition Damage.
My build is concentrated mostly on a balance between D/D DPA/DPS and Staff support, allowing you to roam between the two play styles / weapons without been limited or need to retrait.
Awaken the Dead -
The Build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJAoYhMmYbux3gjDAkCmMeAiHkUeMDP2A;T4AgzyuEcJ5S1liLqmMNJay2krJZTDRmLA
(Clicking on it doesn’t work, you’ll have to copy it)
The build is focused on a balance between toughness and vitality, with toughness having a priority, and having a decent balance between Power and CD. It also gives you the free options to simply roll a staff and play support without changing anything! It’s one of the main reasons for this build. A balance between the two weapons was needed for me to fully enjoy ele as I can’t be limited to one weapon.
Equipements:
Daggers with offensive CD stats, as I view D/D as a very offensive build which is mostly used in PVE outside of dungeons. You can play it anywhere you want – I just feel like Staff Support is far superior and more useful than D/D in dungeons.
Sigils: The best options are pretty obvious. 1x Sigil of battle gives you 3 stacks of might on a weapon switch (Attunement swap counts) with a 9 seconds cool down. 1x Sigil of Corruption for a further CD boost. You can get up to 250 extra CD!
Armor & Jewlery: It can be varied really. Some might prefer to have higher Vitality, some will prefer higher Tough. I do believe Tough is eventually better, so I favored it here. Havin an awful vitality tough might be painful, so I didn’t leave it behind.
I went for a full Carrion set with Superior rune of the Undead, and half Cleric, half rabid jewlery for extra healing, cd and toughness. Don’t forget you get a lot of toughness from the Earth trait.
Description:
The build tries to fully use Signets and CD as it’s main play style. You also have decent healing with SoR and the water skills. Don’t forget Evasive Arcane where you can heal on Dodge if you are attuned to water.
Basically, your main play style should be aggroing a group with either Air or Fire, burning your foes, and eventually leaving either ring of fire or Burning speed as the last skill to use. After using either, you simply switch to earth and cast earth quake -> churning earth. You should be having already ~7 stacks of might with you. If you happen to get your Churning Earth canceled, simply cast Signet of Air, and you are simply protected (it’s really close to invulenrable) for a second or two. Heal with the water skills and SoR as you need, and spam Signet of Fire whenever possible. Use Evasive Arcane with any attunement you like. Don’t forget that Evasive Arcane’s earth spell counts as a blast finisher!
Notes:
Signet of Earth can be easy replaced with any skill you like. I like replacing it with Glyph of Storms when I’m rolling staff. While attunning to earth, you can have blind for 10 seconds. Basically, invulenrable for 10 seconds!
The second Arcane trait can be replaced with Blasting staff when you are rolling a staff.
There isn’t much to note about staff playstyle…Mostly use Eruoption as your main skill, roaming between it’s combos for either heal or might.
