80 Engineer / 80 Guardian
80 Necro / 80 Thief
Ok thanks, I wasn’t sure.
Am I interpreting this patch wrong or are we forced to spend 10 silver an hour to work on the achievements? I’m not saying that is alot of cash, but I don’t really like such a blatant money grab for “temp” content.
Dailies are fluff, its been established in MMO’s for the past decade. I feel your pain, and I sympathize with you. But guess what? Tomorrow is another daily.
They are a marketing gimmick to keep your invested in the game.
Spoofy is too stupid to critique sorry.
Isn’t it funny that by creating a post on the publishers forum, to the publishers…it violates a TOS? Gives me something to chuckle about as I go about real life.
Are you able to apply changes in class skills, weapon skills (racial skills as if people use them) and have those changes be PVE or PVP only?
In before the fan bois and haters, if you aren’t a developer or Anet employee, please don’t guess here.
Although didn’t they patch the projectors to give the holograms more health specifically so they would stay around longer so more people could participate?
Current kite design definitely doesn’t fit their design philosophy of always being happy to see other players in the world. It goes right back to the crafting-node spawn camp they specifically designed against.
Slightly different here. Nothing to fight no need to tag anything. If you are within range(able to see the basket’s nameplate) you should have no problem getting to the basket loot even if you are being followed by a horde of enemies(unless said enemies have snares of course …). They are closer to the wintersday boxes. That is if you are already on your way to one you should generally still be able to loot it even if someone else gets there first.
Except this isn’t how it works within the actual game. You see a basket icon on the map, and you run (or WP and then run) to it. If someone loots it at that point, when you go running up to it, it (and the bags) can be gone. It isn’t a matter of “being close enough to see the nameplate” because if you’re that close to the other player you’d most likely group, if that even helps to share loot.
If someone is clearing the zone a basket or two ahead of you, you will get nothing, unless you notice the pattern and shoot over to another part of the map to ninja available ones away from the other person. Not a good design.
It’ll replace MF gear for players secondary armor sets. That way it will provide less of a performance hit when you breeze through PVE. No biggie.
Suggesting they change the way portals work (especially if you mean game wide) will earn you a slap upside the head. I use my mesmer specifically so I can portal myself through bad falls, and occasionally I’ll stop and help others along the way. Disable it in JP, no problem, mess with the skill in general and it just means you’re asking to have a class nerfed because you’re too dim to use the block feature.
As several people already pointed out, go to the mists lobby and check the pvp locker.
You can equipment preview the rifle, pistol and shield zenith skins there.
And as several other people pointed out, they are not yet on the “menu” for the 1000 AP chest. That chest unlocks within the next 24 hours, so saying “it was that way in beta” is beside the point. Its that way live, right now. Have they announced a patch yet for tomorrow?
Of course it could just be cropping the list due to poor UI “improvements” but we’ll see.
Ok thanks, I couldn’t remember.
When other players loot them.
Is this supposed to happen? I’ve had people ahead of me loot one, it disappears, if I get there fast enough the two bags are on the ground and lootable. If I’m too slow even the bags are gone.
Today I have been getting disconnects on Anvil Rock. It happens every time I load my mesmer – who is stuck in a loop midway to porting to EB. Now I cant play the toon at all because every time I select her on start up it resumes the zoning process to EB and kicks me into restarting Gw2.
Swapped over to ranger to do Forsaken Halls puzzle for the kite, now he’s locked out as well. This has been going on for over an hour.
Hi,
Are achievements stored on the client or server side? The UI doesn’t track which things you’ve done in terms of dive master (xx/37), hint completion (xx/82) etc.
I was wondering if its kept client side would there be a way to mine the information to overcome the UI being so incomplete.
Thanks
@marnick
We’ll walk you through it slow, shall we?
Its a picture of gems.
GW2 has a gem store.
The continued existence of GW2 is dependent solely on gem sales.
The primary reason for making some items soulbound is to force players into buying more than one, thereby increasing Anet’s profit.
That wasn’t so hard was it?
Asked no one ever
Thank you for making me smile so early in the morning!
The look is horrible. I imagine it was someone coming up with a concept (steampunk since it was popular a decade ago) and having the artists try to create something under that guideline.
What they should do instead is give the artists free reign to create good skins without some kind of parameter – steam punk- so they can just make good looking weapons and armor.
Sorry I’m sure this has been brought up a number of times, but the search function on this horrific, spam blocked website doesn’t work
I find it odd that you can get a title (and gold star) for the easiest achievement – map completion, but get nothing for completing all JP’s?
DNS flush didn’t work for me, not sure if its because I use Windows 8.
This clearly not a bug but intended with the last update. They saw that conditions made him too vulnarable and easy to kill (and he is very easy in my opinion). This doesnt mean you are wrong in your opinion. Just stating that this thread belongs in the southsun cove discussion section and not in the bug section.
Maybe change your role in the party as a condition-orientated player. Pick up one of those rifles and and lure him to mines and use skill 4 to CC him
No that is not what they meant in the update – here is their statement:
Fixed a bug where Canach was able to take condition damage while temporarily immune to players.
This means you are wrong in your opinion. The devs patched to fix condition damage being applied WHILE the shield was up. Unfortunately they then broke it far far worse than it already was. Once the initial shield comes down, no one is able to use conditions for the rest of the fight.
I’m really surprised there is no official response in this thread.
Nobody is going to excitedly come back to this game because there’s a refugee camp in southsun, or because the LA lion statue was deleted for awhile but is back now.
But people will come back because SAB has returned from its slumber, or when Molten Facility has been discovered and will be only available for a limited time. Or when the Living Story no doubt shifts its focus to the Consortium and its activities in South Sun.
Whether you like it or not, the world is changing. Again, slowly but surely.
Yea every two weeks out of 8-12. Just stop posting please, you are not coming from an objective view point.
I think you are misunderstanding the scenarios.
The living story continues endlessly…. the FaF story arc ends on the 12th.
Hope this helps
As for where it continues, please read my thread on the FaF forum area for some clues
I think you are misunderstanding the reaction to the “scenarios”. Only building temporary content might be good to keep money flowing in (and provide a “hook” to keep people buying gems) but the overwhelming reaction to temp content is: Its awesome, why is it gone?, I miss it! Or it is: I didn’t like it and I’m happy its gone.
Both reactions are valid opinions, but most people would like to see something added permanently to our menu of “what can I do tonight”.
Wow, I really want some interaction with the developers roleplaying and the other epic components that Naginto was talking about in GW2. That’d be incredible. Personally I had always hoped for something like a dragon flying into Lion’s Arch or some heavily populated town totally out-of-the-blue unlike the dragon world events (like The Shatterer and Tequatl), but what Naginto described sounds even more kitten, especially because it came to be a persistent thing.
Thank you sir! As one of the scared level 15 guys in that zone that night, looking around at all these gorgeous high level players and DEEP red mobs of insta-death, I wall hugged the zone and watched it unfold in awe. It is an MMO moment (from 13 years ago!) I will never ever forget.
Devs had access to pre-set scripts of text, so they could use commands to broadcast the story details and yet had the freedom to interact with players and chat up normally without needing absurd typing skills and getting carpal tunnel haha. Their concept at the time was to not only introduce new content, but have themselves, paid GMs and volunteer player “Guides” all role play during these “GM events” to bring the community together and expand their game world at the same time.
Anyway, I think most of the forum readers here would agree that a mix of SOME permanent content would be awesome.
I don’t want to be “that guy” but in this case I am the nearly extinct recipient of lucky RNG for this BL item.
I quit back in November due to lack of content. Came back about 1.5-2 weeks ago, got my engie up to 80 and started a necro. I was totally ignorant of Frost and Flame, which is good, since it consisted of a months worth of banging fence posts. At level 16 I noticed I had a couple keys from map completion. I unlocked a few chests and didn’t even bother to look at what I got, since I know the RNG is garbage anyway. The next day I notice an unfamiliar item in my bags.
Hello new staff skin!
I was torn with what to do with it. My ranger and mesmer were already decked out, and nothing looks good on an asura engineer. I had been purposely trying to make my necro look color blind and ugly as can be just for giggles. Now, I might just have to deck this little guy out after I keep transmuting that skin onto his staff for the next 60 levels LOL.
Is there a build available utilizing this stat lineup that wouldn’t be inferior to the stats we already have? I’m wondering what class would use this stuff and not be at a disadvantage compared to other gear choices.
Thanks.
I personally would love to see the story start somewhere in a place we already have, but develop into a new untouched area.
A thousand times this. Using the Living Story as a vehicle to not only throw a distracting shiny bauble of temp content at customers, it should really be used as a vehicle to launch new zones/dungeons.
In 2000 in EQ1 they had an event where hordes of undead, on Halloween night(!) invaded a mid level zone – level 15 or 20 I think. These mobs were hard, high level and mean. The event was zone wide and they only appeared during the “night” hours of that evening (and forever after) making a level 20 zone get filled with level 45 undead creatures of evil every 1.5 hours I think it was (in game day was 45 minutes, in game night was 45 minutes).
Anyway, you have this MASSIVE event where every high level on the server goes and teams up to vanquish this encroaching army. Characters that were level appropriate that day, had to flee for their lives as shining heroes in incredible gear flooded in to battle the never ending hordes.
Then to culminate the night – which included devs spawning as PC’s and role playing along with the event on their characters, they opens, The Portal to the Plane of Hate! A new raid zone.
Now I know that GW2 has no raiding, but this could work just as well for a dungeon, and support the little lore we have in place already.
Make it so.
Just to add to the discussion, rather than attack people, are you saying Shadowlancer that GW2 is adding content on pace with traditional AAA MMO’s? I could support that argument if the content was a mix of permanent and temp (Living Story) things to do…but it isn’t. Admitting in a press release that no expansion will come out in 2013 leaves 16-17 months of no widespread content releases for this title. Of course given their head count as a company, and their focus to do “creative” or “within the manifesto (whats left of it)” rather than expanding the gameplay makes sense within their development context. But to defend it? Really?
I’m not bashing the game or saying another title is better, I’m just looking for additions to the “Menu” of gameplay that wont be affected if I go on a vacation for a week or two, or heaven forbid, get busy at work.

I get that developers can be misguided on what can be immersive, and what can break that immersion. We all appreciate your hard work, bla bla bla dont ban me. But WTF are you thinking implementing a dungeon system based on levels…when no one can easily see THE LEVEL THEY ARE AT?
When I was a kid, I worked at Dunkin Donuts. I never ever ate Dunkin Donuts.
That said, I found it completly baffling when Mr. Hrouda admitted to being a dungeon designer AND a ranger. How is that pet treating you in Twilight Arbor Robert? Fun to hit stow and have it…you know..not stow? Ah well I use it kill myself repeatedly and hope the bounce wastes my group also!
Is there any real reason the pet stow command doesn’t work? Vertical changes, fall damage, zoning, all lead to it coming back. Is this intentional?
^ I don’t even want a different format, I’d live with the same format. Give me dragon fights and world achievements. Give me fun events in a zone that isn’t a catapult laden midfield of kittene. And let me play in that zone in whatever fashion that appeals to my personality .
I’m curious, why would someone join more than one? As a co-leader I have to admit seeing someone not represent infuriates me. Maybe its because I like to think of a guild as a family.
Since they have implemented broken code every single time they tried to address a problem like those behind DR, I’d say it will get fixed, once they get off the “reactionary” mode.
I am SO incredibly sick of people like this OP. Endgame is endgame, get over it. Stop making excuses. The point of playing a game with levels is to enjoy the content made for those levels.
I love so many zones in this game. From Sylvari low level areas to Frostgorge. But do NOT tell me what to think about the content that your schedule has excluded you from. You have no right, no matter how entitled daddy and Obama have made you feel.
I’m at 91% map completion. I have a full set of “fighting” exotics and a full set of “MF” exotics. I have a guild of fantastic people. I partake badly in pvp but I do it because its hilarious. I’m 400 in leatherwork because I wanted the armor. I’m working on huntsman now.
Yes I have things to do, but if you haven’t tested the portions of this game designed for endgame, what twisted sense of self righteousness makes you DARE comment on it? You should be ashamed of yourself. The utter gall of of you even posting this drivel fills me with revulsion and makes me feel sad for your parents.

As mentioned before, please respond to this so I can know if I wasted all that time and should start another, or we have of a restore.
