After the disaster that was Liadri, and the horrible achievements that go with her, this was absolutely awesome ^3^
The end fight with Scarlet wasn’t too easy and it wasn’t too hard. It was perfect!!
It’s how Liadri should have been. It’s how she should be, when the gauntlet comes back.

Liandri wasn’t a disaster. It was one of the best fights they’ve added to the game. The only thing I would have changed in that fight was the floor/grate color. More fights needs to involve challenge and the elements of the Nintendo Hard Era.

I would guess that he didnt bank on ebay throwing in the “qq why no fight in the open” towel just because they were behind.
You can bet your life on it that ebay wouldnt have given up so easily if they were a couple thousand shy of first place but alas the weather obviously wasn’t fair.
Most of us(CoF) could give two kittens less if we were are in 1st or 2nd or 3rd. It has no effect on anything. Rank? Wed prefer if we stay away from the Zergy action of T3+ Servers.
All what matters is decent fighting, and that’s difficult to manage when you have the glob mentality of a T1 Server.
Oh well, at least we can hope that whatever Devon has up his sleeves help shake up the wvw scene.
The trick is to give advantages to small group play without punishing zergs. One way to do this is to provide advantages using the “team” grouping mechanic. Coordinated team play vs. uncoordinate zerg balls would provide modest benefits.
1. The only people who can revive a fallen ally are people in their team. (for WvW only, of course). This would promote grouping and organized play (coordinated small group>larger numbers of random people not grouped/teamed up), not punish zergs, and equalize the playing field a bit when larger numbers go up against smaller numbers. Alternatively, you could leave as is, and double the revive rate if only team mates are reviving the fallen.
2. Team stats buff. You get a 2% decrease in damage taken per active team member within 600 meters. Thus a coordinated 5 member team is taking 10% less damage…this would really help in taking on larger numbers.
3. Buffs applied to team mates last 10% longer.
4. Field effects with finishers are 5% more effective if produced by team mates. To get the bonus, one team mate would need to lay the field, and another would need to set off the finisher. (this one might be too complicated to implement)
Anyway, these are just some quick ideas. But I think finding ways to buff coordinated team play without punishing larger zergs holds promise for promoting small scale skirmishes.
The down state and AOE limit aren’t changing. But there could be buffs given to small group play to help offset these zerg-friendly mechanics.
1.) They goes against the randomness of helping that they’ve set out to bring players together to help each other. Won’t happen. To Counter it, they could do something like can’t res a double downed player while in combat, but that too could be easily countered by walking 10 feet away to break combat.
2.) I’m not sure any type of buff that increases/decreases damage is a good move for the game.
3.) How do you define teammates? Guild members/Grouped/CommanderSquad? If anything that should be incentive to join a squad.
4.) By effect finishers being more effective you mean more damage? more Stacks? more duration? I’d go back to my answer number 2.
I think theres some other ways to help promote small group play (I typically run in a group between 5-10 so I feel your pain). The obvious method would be to not reward the Zerg as heavily as they do. But that won’t happen.
They need to add in alternate play styles besides just zerg up and take the objectives on the map. Capture and Hold is brought up often within our voice comm server as something that may do it. Add in Several Points that Tick for points as long as people are holding it. If its several locations (Lets say on borderworlds, Centaurs/skrit/and Island), you can’t send the zerg to all 3 at once so you’d have to split them up. It would get amplified more if there is another zerg tying to take things.
I agree that they can’t kill her off due to her being tied to the Personal Story lines, but what they could do is have Anise have prior knowledge of an assassination attempt via intelligence circles she has ties to. Have video of Jenna giving her speech. Assassination goes off. Shooter is obviously in the Book Depositary of Divinity’s Reach. Shooter runs off. Body is in the sole custody of Anise as the video starts to fade, a second before it fades out, the body shatters like an illusion. Most people will miss it. NPCs then talk about multiple shooters but have no evidence of it.
Proceed with the Story Line. Involve Logan ranting and running around like a lunatic trying to catch the shooter with him ultimately having a mental breakdown. When Logan comes to terms with what happen a new patch comes out where Jenna is living. Explains it was done by Anise and herself to lure out the powers that be into a false sense of security, and to find out who is making the play for power.
At that point Rylock walks up to Logan and points and laughs at him(Nelson style) and walks away.
The more I think about it, the more I’m not sure if its going to matter because as the days progress I’m starting to dislike the state of WvW more and more.
I get it its a designed for the Zergs, but we were told that smaller groups would be able to break up the Zerg, and that doesn’t seem to happen.
Ideally I think I’d like to see multiple Capture and Hold Nodes, but I can’t come up with a mechanic that would prevent the home world zerg from idling there when they own everything on the map.
At any rate I’m interested in seeing what they do, so I can rage about it later.

Doubt it. The Population difference between JQ and EB is insane. Without having played on a T1 I’m not sure people can understand how much it blows.

Who cares? If they split it up or did multiple story lines per content patch they’d be lesser quality and shorter, so you’d rant about that today.
Just be glad they are coming out this quickly and not being charged. I’m sure they will swap it out to other stories as time progresses.
It took about 15 attempts for me after a friend pointed out the pattern in Phase 2.
Warrior GS/Rifle. 30 in Arms, 20 in Defense, 20 in Disc.
Piecing Shots, Crits cause Speed, and Bleed duration in Arms, Dogged March, the stance one in defense, and 25% Passive Speed, and Signet Reduction in Discp. Utility, Balanced Stance, Signet of Stam(not Sure it worked), and Endure Pain, and Rage Elite.
Phase 1 GS for mobility. Phase 2. Pop Rage for speed get to the safe spots and move Clockwise/Counter to stay in position while plugging the boss with 2/3/4 on rifle.
Wasn’t too bad but I’ve kiting mobs all over the worlds in other games as Ranged Classes.
I think to a degree they need to make sure balance is perfect so it doesn’t give one side an edge, so its slower to come up with stuff.
Having said that, Devon has commented recently about New maps/tweaked borderlands, and a mechanic to replace the Orbs coming soon.
They’ve clearly stated they won’t make both fractals.
As I’ve said in other threads. If Abbodon lives up to the hype all you GW1 people are preaching it shouldn’t get a 10-15 Minute Fractal in the first place. It should be a full length dungeon, nothing less would due it justice.
And with this much response, I’m sure the Devs are thinking, if we can figure out a way to to work it in the lore/story they will. They like giving us Content that makes geek out. I know Cavern of Time in WoW is not the best example, but would allow them to add in cool kitten from the past.
Maybe the story line from Abbadon would have great, but would it be great as a fractal where you cut it down to 15 minutes? Not playing GW1, it sounds like it would have been better as some type o Dungeon instead of a fractal.
And guys i wouldn’t say there’s no chance of it happening. Having had Devs in my Guild (Past Games we’ve played) and knowing devs before that design content, if they think there is a large enough demand and can work into the storyline/lore they will come up with a way. After all they did say it was the Reactor and Abbadon were the two most popular choices they came up with. Why would they just throw out the other popular choice?
If what you are saying is true about Abbadon, then in a month or two when its out, you’ll cry again because the fractal didn’t do its justice because it deserved a larger map/more time.

Higher tier you gotthe more/bigger zergs you have to avoid and who will ruin your day.
Also the higher you go, doesn’t mean the quality of player increases. Just the quantity and the coverage.
Stay out of T1.
We ended up leaving JQ months ago due to the fact that there was nothing to do for small groups. Everywhere you turn you run into Zergs. You’d spend 2 hours out roaming looking for fights and only fight a handful after trying to evade the Zergs.
Unless AN does something to break up the zergs (they won’t because they’ve done everything possible to get people to play together) into smaller skilled groups you are just going to come across fewer and fewer dedicated teams as time goes on. They will either quit, try and form into a Zerg busting groups, or just roam for 1v1s.
It really sucks, but nothing we can do about it.
Scared? No. Are they an unknown to us? Yes.
Besides we missed you Borlis. We just needed to show you how much we missed you with our Axes and swords in your back. The hell with the other people.
Personally, I’m fine with us getting our kitten kicked. Anything that gets us further away from the T2 Servers in ratings is good IMO.
I won’t disagree that BP Got demoralized coming in 2nd place for all those times, and I"m glad to see you guys are gaining strength again, but don’t go around thinking you only lost due to your belief you were getting double teamed. Your server has its issues and its loudmouths just like Ebay does. Just all of ours haven’t been banned yet.
As long as the game mechanics favor zerginess then the wvw will continue to lose players.

Remove downed in wvw
Fix the reward system. It currently favors zerglings with zero attention to skill or tactics.
The above will allow small guilds/servers to fight back by rewarding them for tactics and punish stupid zergs. Don’t worry, the casuals already left and never contributed much aside from the friday ‘guild wvw night’ !
Keep the consumables because Anet needs to make money off of it
Increase the rewards for running in small groups/zergs by increasing the badge rewards or titles etc.
Its already been stated its a technical limitation that caps AOE. Basically the way it was written that it would cause a ton of additional calculations which would lag down WvW.
As someone who runs in a Smaller group (typically no larger than 10). I tend to agree there needs to be some way to favor smaller group play, and ways to break up the Zerg, but every method that has been thought of goes against the ideology of the way the game was designed to make it easier to group.
Personally I think the way rewards are calculated needs to be changed and divided amongst the people who tagged it, and also have Players being worth more than just 60. Have them worth a Base value then modified by Player level, then modified by Wxp level. And have that Value spread across all that tag it.
Basically allow the zergs to mass kill people and kill tons of people at a lower value, and allow smaller groups to kill at a slower rate but have them worth more (because its not divided up). I’m told Dark Age used a similar system, that made both Zerging and 8 Man groups beneficial.
From what I was told, AN has been working on this and it was suppose to be released a month+ ago, but they’ve encountered some massive bug with it so it had to be delayed.
For the short term they did the 1 time reset.

I never cease to be amazed by Anet’s ability to continually defy statistics in regard to SoS matchups and I’m curious to how much they’ll bend the space-time continuum this next week.I personally think they are going find some amazing way to match us up with AR and SBI just to tank our score and get a laugh.

The problem with the lag is that it is occurring when you get a ton of players bunching up. Its easier to do that with the megazergs running in t1/t2 than it is in t3 and below.
Ultimately they need to do something to divide the groups up so you have multiple forces in a single BG, but currently its more effective and beneficial (Karma,Money, Xp,wXp, etc) to run as a giant blob. If you lose something even better cause you get more rewards for taking it back 5 minutes later.
Unfortunately the only method I could come up with (I don’t consider lowering the cap a valid option) goes against the entire foundation of the game where they are trying to get people to group up.
There are lots of servers that are out there that don’t have this issue due to population. I recommend looking into one them. Getting out a Tier1 Server (Jade Quarry) was the best thing I’ve done in this game.
Shorty, you should read the T3 thread for some amusing chest thumping from EBay. I’m going to add that their forum warriors have some unsportsman-like words for their opposing servers. I somewhat wish to withdraw my recommendation.

Im jus sayin’ was just in blackgate, was on blackgate commanding mega zergs for a really long time. 35 is not a ton of people. I’ve seen your 40-50+ zergs. They may be pug zergs but whatevs. Why is everyone so defensive? Just trying to have some fun

On a side note. Why does everyone think we are t-1/2? Just awhile back we consistently got 3rd in the t2 ladder. Secondly, why say our OCX and sea cover us? We have next to no OCX coverage only sea, and im purdddy sure we do ok NA times.
You’re right. 35 people considered to a MegaZerg of T1 isn’t a lot people. But this isn’t T1. Keep in mind most of the lower Tiers lower than T4 can’t support much more than 40+ in a a pug zerg, and the larger Guilds that have that pop went to higher ranked servers. I think when it comes down to it. A lot of the people on the server just never have seen people run in the numbers you guys can/do on multiple battlegrounds, and it can be intimidating to some when you see 40+ of any of the same guild running for you.
See, if we did that outside of the NA Primetime we’d have massive coverage gaps (if we don’t already).
And the Reason why people think you are a T1/T2 server is that at the end of the old system you were previously in a Solid T2 Position, and just received/receiving an influx from other servers. You had EMP & Oath from JQ, and I’m sure other guilds that were a positive for your coverage. You may not be a solid T1 Server, but many thought with the transferred you’d be able to push out one of them, and I’m sure with the former EMP people they would have loved to crush JQ.
They need to let the servers sit for a few weeks and see what the power of each server balances at. Once things stabilize then tighten the variance. Moving up and Down will create other issues. One Server winning one Tier to get clobbered in the next tier.
People, you gotta keep in mind anything they do with the rating system isn’t an overnight fix. Its going to take Several weeks if not months to make sure each servers strength is getting the right opponent.

If other servers all have more numbers than you then what you achieve is all the better! I wish you a save travel to the next higher tier and that you enjoy your time there just like last weeks “winner” CD is enjoying theirs!
We got killed last week by FA with Mag. Didn’t phase us at all. I rarely like to agree with Jinks, but I think hes right to a degree. We’ve just been tied down to Borlis and Anvil rock for 13 weeks, We don’t give a kitten who we fight as long there is fighting to be done.
Oh yes, that will work well also… since those have -20% duration.
With that, and lemongrass, and the trait it would be: 20+40+33 = 93%
I will try to catch you on so we can test if you can spare me 15 minutes or so.
Doesn’t dogged march have an internal cooldown as well. Like once every ten seconds so keep that in mind when testing.
I thought it took the Modified Duration – Modified Reduction = Modified time then Added the modified time to the base value of the ability duration. There was a Post in the Warriors forums a few months back discussing this into detail but I’m unsure if anyone ever got a hold of someone on another server to test it. Last i recall, the forums were split between a question if it was multiplication vs addition.
If you need people to test on, I have all that gear available as well, but you’d need to find me prior to being grouped up for WvW.

WoW had this in Winter’s grasp… it was and is an awful design feature.
WoW’s PvP system was a complete after thought, and was designed around PVE. Its crap, and nothing that they did should even be considered a good idea.
I’m not even sure what out manned does besides gives me no repair costs, which I love. If it doesn’t already give a bonus to XP, and WxP it should. It should try and give a reason to fight in that zone.

That combination would absolutely crush us, due to coverage, but I’d believe we’d be able to hold our own in one border world easily, and probably a foot hold into EB during primetime. The off hours coverage would be devastating.
Wouldn’t mind Fighting a combo of whoever was in T4 previously. SBI, CD, and I forget who the other was.

I think earlier in the Thread, someone said it was a 6.4% chance to get the exact same pairing, or a 65% Chance to get Either AR or BP in the next match with EB. So it seems likely that it may happen.
T1(JQ) ultimately drove me to quit the game for a 6 month period. The environment is toxic in my mind. The queues and zergs in T1 made it an unfriendly place to play with a small group of friends.
The group I play with ended up moving to EB in March as a last ditch effort to try and find something fun in WvW, and it worked. I’d listen to Faux on this. Higher Tier, doesn’t always mean better, it just means more people/better coverage.
Just be aware of the Skill Lag, massive zergs and Queues that people have been complaining about in the Top Tier servers.
How do they plan to draw people over to WvW with this minuscule reward?
If people are playing for just the reward, you are playing for all the wrong reasons.

I haven’t seen much of AR this pairing (last as well), but rumor someone in our map chat was stating they were intentionally trying to tank so they could get shipped down a tier.
I suppose its easy to PVD when there is no one around to man the arrow carts.

+1% defense vs players… cancels it out.
Because they’ve tried to make a system that doesn’t make it haves and have nots. Its the same reason why they’ve made the WvW Skill tree not have anything that directly affects player damage vs other players.
So…. I have to play hours of WvWvW to get a handful of Badges and then hours of PvE to get Laurels? … Check. I think I’ll choose the option to do without thanks. Ask Mythic how things worked out for them when they forced PvE on the people who only enjoyed RvRvR. (Hint ToA).

I’ve been completing both the Monthy and Daily for several months not even leaving the WvW Zones. One or two of the selections might make you craft something, talk to a vendor or buy some Karma but 90% of the stuff was done while Doing WvW. Adding a Second WvW event in the daily made it even easier, and now its going to be Trivial with a Third. 3 WvW Related things, Gather + Some other random thing.
I don’t see what the crying is for, did you guys honestly expect AN to make it dirt cheap so everyone would have full Ascendant Gear? They wanted to add an alternate path to get, not an easier path.
Keep in mind you still have a chance to get a Ring with every WvW Level and they doubled the amount of WXP from Events.
Also to [vT], very tough group and I was hoping we could catch you with more even odds, unfortunately it didn’t happen. The fighting outside of “briar” earlier in the night where you had a few others not in [vT] (sorry didn’t catch the guild names) was a very interesting tactic that was very effective, so thank you for the thought provoking encounter.
[vT] & Others lastnight, like Korav said, you guys gave us some interesting fights, and some future discussion of builds for our Core Group. I hope we run into you guy some more before the pairings change.
Also to the poor dude(didn’t catch guild tag) who was building Omega Golems(He lost two) at AR north Supply Camp. Try building them away from the Camp next time. Areas off the normal path. I know its quicker to build in the camp, but its a higher risk. Building Behind the building at the Vista, or in the Orb Archers might be safer.
P.S. One really good small man guild to look out for is CoF, those guys will give you a fight no matter the odds.
We just want good fights. We’ve beaten the odds plenty of times already, so it doesn’t matter if we wipe. Usually we need to sell anyways.

We actually transferred to Ehmry when they were red while fighting Yak’s Bend and Mag because we got tired of fighting AR and BP’s untalented blob of pushovers. But good try there buddy!
What’s your solution to this tier? You have the same opponents and it doesn’t look like anyone is going anywhere.
Try and deal with it until AN does something(which they said they were looking into). Then see if it was a flaw in the system or a lack of ability on our end to move up.
Realistically putting as much effort as we’ve tried to do and only gained a handful of points is just going to cause burn out.

I might agree with you if they went to a T1 or T2 Server and started the chest beating that happens once you join a winning server like that.
I’d wager that they probably had a similar issue we had. Where the tier your on didn’t fit your play-style, and they tried to something about it before they started to lose more of their player base.

I guess I can’t argue that. I mean CoF did transfer over that Tuesday or Wednesday night of that last week we were in T4 I think. But either way it was a welcomed change from where we were. At this point I wouldn’t care who we fight as long they prefer to fight in the open field instead of tower hugging.
You gotta define that better. While we may have out manned you overall. The only time we didn’t have the out manned buff in AR BL lastnight was when PK(I think) came in for 30 minutes then went somewhere else.
Terrible? Really? I suppose I’ve lost my edge. You can’t really learn to get better when everything you fight is so far beyond sub-par. You should get better so we can then get better, and adding 10 more people to follow you around doesn’t make you better.
