Just got out of a PvP match and every time I downed this one ele I wouldn’t be able to stomp him or hit him with melee attacks. Ele in question would always Ride the Lightning right before he was about to die but would still go down. I couldn’t stomp him or melee him in the location his character was showing up on screen and ranged attacks tracked him to different parts along his RTL path.
Only reason I bring it up is it happened every time I fought him. Every. Time. During fights he wasn’t popping around, the fights were totally smooth, but always in that last second before he was going to go down he would RTL and would bug out.
I don’t know if its a bug (been gone for a bit so not sure if its a known bug, and looking stuff up on these forums is a nightmare) or rubber-banding going his way every time or if he was just plain exploiting somehow. Just giving a heads up to whoever reads these things.
- I like Sylvari more than any other race. It is a constant struggle to not delete my non Sylvari characters, I have one of each race all at 80, and remake them.
- The achievement chests became an obsession for me. I cared more about getting the chests and less about the actual rewards.
- I only finish players in WvW if they’re using a cookie cutter/meta build and are the same class as me.
- I don’t mind taking new/inexperienced players through dungeons and will give them unlimited chances so long as they listen, but if they refuse to listen I’ll wont hesitate to kick them.
- I still consider this game to be in its beta phase. A lot of its features (dungeons, mob AI, build diversity, conditions, pvp, etc) are pretty poorly implemented IMO and by thinking “It’ll be great once they get out of beta” is the only way I can keep myself playing. I have given up hope on WvW though, I don’t see that ever reaching the idea Anet had in mind.
- I hoard the most useless junk. One of my characters is carrying about 3-4k bloodstone dust, empyreal fragments, and dragonite ore. That’s after I’ve already made a full ascended armor set and three or four weapons.
- I rarely use foods or utilities for the buffs. It’s not that I don’t want to use them, its just I forget they exist.
- It bugs me that there isn’t a Sylvari in Destiny’s Edge 2.0 but also makes my Sylvari warrior, my main/only one I do the story with, feel like an actual part of DE 2.0
- It drives me insane when a dye’s name and color don’t match up at all. CANTALOUPE IS NOT LIGHT PINK ANET!
So I took a break from GW2 a couple months ago and recently picked it up again. While I was gone I got back into Skyrim, and since I finally got a new PC I modded it out and got into RP’ing it kinda, so being back here makes me wonder how RP works in an MMO type game like this. In Skyrim I have my character who uses X weapon/magic, can be good or evil, needs to eat/sleep/keep warm (thanks to survival mods), and no fast travel. So how much of that can transfer over into an MMO?
Do things like the weapons you use/dont use put a big hindrance on getting into dungeon groups if your character isn’t part of the zerker meta, or do you normally have to run dungeons with other RP players from your guild/servers? Do you actually have your character eat meals throughout the day and go to sleep when its nighttime? Can you fast travel, and if so do you have to be at a WP before you can go to a new one or can you warp from anywhere? I kinda imagine there are different levels of RP that set those kinda rules.
Sorry if this comes across as weird asking all these questions, I just had a lot of fun RP’ing in Skyrim (I feel more attached to that character than any other I’ve ever done) so I wondered how it would work out here.
Oh man, Congrats! I’m still hoping for mine soon /cry
Now excuse me while I secretly hate you for getting one…grrrrr shakes fist at screen
I’d say its a bit of you being unlucky in getting put in matches toxic players but also an increase in those kind of people. I picked the game up about a month ago after a 5-6 month break and it was way worse than I remember. I’ve gotten a ton of angry whispers/map/team chat comments for running meta builds, playing X class, running non-meta builds, pretty much anything and everything. I’ve actually had people follow me to different pvp servers just to harass me, it’s sad.
My advice is to just create a chat tab that is nothing but your guild chat or combat log for regular pvp, guild chat/party if you’re with someone in wvw. It saves you a lot for frustration at dealing with the toxic people. Or you can just block them as they come, but just dont ever respond to them. They’re sad little children who need that kind of attention so just ignore it and they’ll give up.
Ok so I’m really bad at these “about me” type things so I’m just gonna bullet point it.
- LF social and active guild. It’s nice to just see an active guild chat TBH. I’m a really laid back player who’s not quite a casual but not a hardcore player either.
- Willing to rep 90% of the time (I’m in a guild with IRL friends who aren’t overly active but I will rep them on the rare occasion they want to do a fractal or dungeon or pvp spree).
- I’m on Blackgate and live on the west coast, close to Seattle actually, and server transfers aren’t out of the question, but I’ll have to REALLY like your guild.
- I enjoy all parts of the game (WvW, PvE/dungeons/fractals, PvP) but am not devoted to one more than the other.
- I dont care if you’re not min-maxers or speed runners. This is a game so I like for people to play what they like, even if its not the meta stuff. That being said I do have meta gear for my main and main alt.
- I’m willing to get any voice comms, but my mic just broke on Sunday so I wont be able to respond for a bit.
I really feel weird doing these things, they seem so pushy, but either send me a message or reply here and we can have a chat.
Arnghus
- not wanted by group pve’rs, but neither is anyone thats not a Warrior, Guardian or Ele. And as someone who mains a ranger and plays nearly every class, “unwanted” classes still have zero problems getting groups thanks to the new LFG system. If a group only wants “optimum” classes you can reassure yourself the group leader is garbage and just looking to have his 100blades baddy warrior carried through the instance.
This. Dont ever listen to someone when they tell you X class is bad. The ones who do are either A. Elitists who only want speed runs and corner stacking in dungeons with min-maxed gear (which is fine, everyone has a different definition for what they consider fun) or B. Just didn’t like the play style of the class they claim to be bad.
PvE and dungeons in this game are fairly simple, really simple actually, which means that all the classes are viable. Are necros gonna have the fastest clear time or highest damage ever? No, but neither are engi’s, thieves, or rangers, and that’s because the game has some horrible balance.
My advice is the same as Sors Immani and just try the class. I know you say you like to stick with one main but leveling goes by really fast in this game, and can be quite fun, so if you’re around level 20-30 and just not feeling necro it wont be a big loss to re-roll.
But if you’re one of the people who are into min-maxing everything and want to play a light armor class then roll a mesmer to be a time warp robot or an ele to be a ice bow and fiery greatsword dispenser.
So I have done the final story twice now. Once over a year ago with some guildies who were at that part of the story but I wasnt, I just wanted to see what it was like and if the claims of it being a super lame ending were correct (SPOILER: THEY WERE).
I just started playing again after about 5-6 months away and figure I’ll go ahead and finish it, I’ve been sitting on the “Victory or Death” story for way to long so why not finish it, right? Get some achievement points, close that part of the story and never think about it again. Guild I was in is dead, super dead, so I have to wait and join with rando’s from the LFG system. Finally get a group, start second run, get onto that last airship and happen to look top right and what do I see? Not the green “Victory or Death” stuff because I had forgot to switch my stupid living story back! “Oh nos” I say and try to change it but cant! Cant change while in an instance. kitten, super annoyed. Finish dungeon and cross fingers. Maybe Anet accounted for this kind of stuff and will actually let it count when i switch my story back to the main one. Click the “continue this story” button. Nothing, audible grown is let out followed by slight sobbing. Gotta run it again for the third time.
And yes I realize this is mostly my fault.
For unlimited harvesting stuff to make any profit ingame you have to chop thousands of trees and stuff, it’s not visual, but also not an advantage either.
Also storage space upgrades etc were in from the start, and you complain that they expand it?
It doesn’t matter how long it would take for us to make an in-game profit, the point is that they added the tools, which aren’t cosmetic, to the gem store. And it might not be a “zomg so op” advantage but not having to buy tools again, not having to worry about how many you have left, and not running out in the middle of running around is an advantage.
As for the increased stack sizes being in the gem store since launch I don’t remember seeing the collection extender before, if it was there then my apologies but I also never meant to imply that the store didn’t have non-cosmetics day 1 (I cant remember the last time I got a black lion key outside of a story reward). I stopped playing 5-6 months ago and when i came back the extender was one of the first things i saw that i thought had been added to the gem store. But ultimately it doesn’t really change my point that the gem store is littered with non cosmetic items that was probably forced onto Anet by NCsoft just to squeeze out every penny that they can.
They should start acting like game developers. They will ruin gw2 with their " great ideas" …
I’m sure its more NCsoft who is making this, and a lot of other features, something you have to pay for. Before release they announced the whole gem stuff but said it was only going to be for cosmetic items. But now we’re seeing unlimited harvesting tools, needing gems to unlock the current living story if you’re not on during the event, and needing to gems to buy increased stack sizes in your bank (with the stupidly high amount of things like bloodstone dust we get, paying for that feature is rude IMO).
They should have been something earned through actual experience.
This x100. People still think that the stupid little blue dorrito means that a person knows what they’re doing. I’ve seen 3/4 of a zerg die because they followed one right off a cliff.
I would actually love to see two different kinds of tags. Ones that can only be activated in WvW and ones that can only be activated in PvE that only your guild/squad can see. But really 95% of the PvE content doesn’t require a tag. Teq and the Worms are the only things I can think of where tags can occasionally be helpful.
Well you dont need armor in pvp to wear runes anymore. Or are they naked naked? No weapons, runes, or amulet? If thats the case then yeah they’re kittens but welcome to online pvp its been like that in every game ever.
a start would be to make this game so people wanna watch it
First, your entire post was important but I singled out this part because I was just thinking along these lines.
I just watched the China vs EU match and the crowd just didnt care. People looked bored, uninterested, and there was zero energy. At one point one of the people doing commentary for the matches asked the crowd if they were excited for one of the teams, China I think, and there was NO response. None, not a single “wooo” or “yeaaah”. He even said after something along the lines of “well i guess theres a lot of EU fans” which still got no response. It was just sad.
And the people covering the game were terrible! One guy kept calling runes and amulets by their wrong names, they went over trait trees but didnt mouse over traits or explain builds very well at all. One of the guys was asked to explain how a hambow can lock down a target with their CC and he straight up didnt know. That was a first for me, I have never heard a commentator that unprepared. I ended up muting the sound and just half watched it on my laptop while I played on the desktop because it was just painful to listen to.
IMO this game will never reach a real esports stage. There is simply too much wrong with it and would require a massive overhaul and Anet knows it, its like 50% of the forum posts lol. EDIT: actually they might not know it since they have such a small forum presence >.<
Am I the only one who had a “oh no” moment after the last fight and went to talk to Mother when she was collapsed on the ground? I was legit worried that something really bad was gonna happen to her from the way she was talking. I’m still kinda worried about future stories tbh. Good Job Anet, I haven’t felt that kind of attachment to the story in a long time!
I’m just wondering how I’m supposed to secure a stomp with offhand pistol vs rangers, engis, necros, guardians, and warriors now….. I might have to get better on engi because it at least has mechanics that work…
I can never tell if there is sarcasm in these posts or not. Ranger and guardian can be a bit of trouble sometimes, I’ll give you that, but if you cant stomp any of the others without a blind then thats a giant fail on your part.
What is the nerf?
Was d/p used much outside of hotjoin?.
Not really, but you cant balance 100% of the time around Arena matches. Imagine a new player coming into this game and going into pvp and just getting roflstomped by the blinds being re-applied. It would be a giant turn off, especially when mixed in with all the other broken hot join builds, and a lot of people would be turned off by the pvp experience.
Now before people go “Hurr duur who cares about hot joins” you gotta remember not everyone is going to jump right into Arenas. So if Anet doesnt start to fix broken builds then their pvp base wont grow because not enough people will get past the terrible hot join experience.
continuous damage aoe attacks should only miss the first pulse and not the subsequent pulses though.
logically speaking, blind should cause aoe attacks to not land at the designated target area, but other target areas instead. what do you think?
That first part yes, that second part no. Not having your skill land where you want it could be the difference between life and death, and considering how easy/quickly some classes can reapply blinds it would be a nightmare.
What ever happened to them releasing the craftable precursors? I know that was one of the many things they mentioned, and failed to deliver, as wanting to release before the new year. Has it not been brought back up or the idea scrapped? I just started playing again after 5-6 months away so i’m a bit behind on the happenings.
Pretty much, they are working on it, but no ETA on delivery.
Ah, well I guess its nice to know some things never change…right? Theres always next year! /Sad Laughter
What ever happened to them releasing the craftable precursors? I know that was one of the many things they mentioned, and failed to deliver, as wanting to release before the new year. Has it not been brought back up or the idea scrapped? I just started playing again after 5-6 months away so i’m a bit behind on the happenings.
Well…that is pretty kittenty. I just started playing 3-4 days ago so the only story I can do right now is “The Dragon’s Reach, Part 1”, with “Gates of Maguuma” and “Entanglement” blocked by a pay gate.
What does that mean for new players? Are they SoL and gonna be forced to pay for the missed parts of the story if they start in a month or near the end of this current story arc?
So I never actually beat Zhaitan in my own personal story before I left. If I get my friends help me do it am I going to get access to Gates of Maguuma and Entanglement, the first two parts of this seasons living story? Or am I still gonna have to pay the 400 gems to unlock them both even if I go back and kill Zhaitan.
well…that’s pretty stupid.
I get that all my gear is account bound and I can switch out the skins whenever I want, but when I’m in the HoTm how do I switch out my weapons? Do I actually have to carry all the different weapons around in my inventory now, or am I totally blind and not seeing the bank/storage chest?
I’ve escorted that kitten about half a dozen times now and haven’t gotten credit once while other people who show up half way through his escort path or were there just as long as I was got credit, its such bull.
I’ve done it on multiple characters both running with him like other escorts or killing everything (the few times I’ve done that he’s died). I’ve shown up early and waited for him to spawn, waited outside of the event circle range until he spawns and then ran in, and waited on the other side of the bridge but nothing works so I’m at a total loss. I hope A-net fixes this crap soon because this whole “hope to get lucky with this achievement” vibe is total crap.
So I’m wanting to make a condi set but I’m not sure which of the three stat sets to go for. I was thinking dire at first, it would make me tanky as heck but then I wouldn’t have any real crit chance for “on critical” traits and sigils. So then I thought about maybe Rabid since it would give me crit chance for the “on critical” stuff but would leave me lacking on vitality which made me think maybe mixing Rabid with Carrion. It would give pretty much everything, Condi as main stat, Vitality/Toughness to survive, and Precision for the crit chance.
Are the “on critical” things really worth it, or would I be better off going full Dire and not worrying about them?
Edit: Sorry forgot to say that this is for warrior S/S+LB. I’m trying to build it so I could go from WvW to PvE stuff without having to respec every friggin time. Kinda bored of zerker set up too >.<
I’ve been gone since October or November and finally got my PC working again and am getting back into the game but I’ve got a few questions.
Is the new heal skill, Defiant Stance, worth it or are Healing Signet and Healing Surge still the go to heals?
There was a S/S+LB build that was fun for pvp. 0/0/20/30/20 or something? Anyone know what I’m talking about and if its still viable?
Did the healing signet tweaks make any real difference, or is it still just a set it and forget it heal?
Were there any other major changes that happened? I only skimmed over the release notes.
As a general question are condi builds still looked down upon, not just on warriors but other classes, or have they been given a buff yet(in a pve environment)?
I’ve encountered Ele’s who have used some of the less common spots successfully on me. They’ve failed just as often so it may be a bit harder?
I still wish Anet would fix the ones that are obviously not in LoS.
you’re right, kittening like I do isn’t likely to get the devs attention and yield the desired result. A child who politely and calmly asks for things gets more than one who throws tantrums.
Not here, the more people cry and whine about things they think are OP the more Anet nerfs things that dont actually need it.
but to stay on topic, downed state still needs to go.
I get it!
It was left blank because there isnt any balance!
http://imgur.com/A2kybi2
*note: i didnt start this topic, it was blank when i looked
Thieves in downed state are elusive,
No they’re not. The only time they’re “elusive” is when they get killed by a non channeled ranged attack the delivers the killing blow right after they go into stealth giving them time to use their teleport and stack the stealth. If you’re getting tricked by a visible thief in the down state you’re doing something wrong.
Downed state is just useless in my opinion , shouldn’t even exist in PvP . It’s a complete joke , why you have to be half dead to start using the most annoying skills ever made ? Good luck on stomping rangers, thieves, engis . I wouldnt even call it a downed state , it’s a troll state.
This says it all. Downed state was and is a horrible idea for pvp. It takes longer to actually kill someone outright in the down state than it does while they’re on there feet. Unless its a group of people attacking the downed target an enemy can rez faster than the dps. The skills that CC a target are easy to dodge, and the stealth skills are just an annoyance.
I’m sure Anet thought adding the downed state into the pvp system would be a neat way to create teamwork by presenting the choice of rezing someone or trying to stop the person stomping or some such nonsense. But when you consider how you can stomp while being stealthed/mist formed/distorted/elixir s’d/stability/simply standing behind a minion/pet it really defeats the whole point of trying to stop the stomper.
It’s just a giant nuisance that unfortunately will probably never go away.
Take it as a fun map.
It´s not a tourny map, so stop complaining.
I enjoy it.
ooooooo, someone didnt read the op’s comment. tisk tisk tisk.
on topic: yes, i hate seeing that maps name pop up after the long wait times to get into a tourney match.
While I dont agree with the amount of kittenness in OP’s topic, and it is pretty heavy lol, I do agree that Engi’s are pretty strong. I’ve got maybe 15 games on mine and it is stupidly easy to pick up, and I was pretty much just mashing buttons. Hopefully the Dec 10th “balance” stuff will help a bit (lets be honest though nobody is expecting that to really balance things out) since they wont have perma vigor and easy burns.
PS prepare for the Engi attacks over your 2nd paragraph lol.
If LoL gets several times more fun against actual people
It doesn’t. LoL is by far the worst online game community I have ever played on. It’s not bad as you level up to max lvl but once you get their the community goes down hill really fast it gets even worse when you start doing their ranked games. It makes GW2 community look civil.
I played LoL for a long time, up until about 7 months ago probably, and I prefer GW2 pvp over it hands down. Even though LoL has 4 different maps only one is played in their ranked/esport games which means that the majority of the regular player base plays on that one map. The other 3 are just for messing around on and hardly any of the “pros” play on them. And on the main map it’s always the same setup, 2 solo lanes, 1 jungler, 1 support and 1 ranged damage dealer that share a lane. Sure GW2 has 1 game mode, but at least the maps change and the teams are always different.
I also agree with the possible potential GW2’s pvp has but it is in NO WAY going to be easy for Anet to get there. They need new game modes that draw people in, they need better rewards so that you feel like you’re actually working towards something (I have so much glory and only the dumb chests to use it on wtf), they need to tweak their existing maps and game mode, get rid of down state in pvp or seriously reduce how fast it is to rez someone/how long it takes to kill the downed player, and the most important, and hardest, thing balance out the classes.
The sad part is that I’m starting to think this game wont reach that point until it is to late. To many of the buffs and nerfs come from the Anet team reading the forums and going off from what has the most people crying. They need dedicated pvp dev’s who are actually gamers and can be unbiased about the classes/builds. Either that or start doing beta tests with the top X number of players before letting a patch go live. They also need speedier fixes to the OP builds that spring up from their “balances”. I honestly hope Anet gets it right, I love the game, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if i were you.
The game is balanced
I lol’d at this part.
WP and Matt always do a good job, and know for the most part what players want from this game and what will help it grow. Commenting in hopes that a Dev will see this and listen to it.
Is it just me or are lag switchers starting to show up more? I was pvping for awhile today and came across 5 different players that would run up attacking, dodging, and using their skills until they hit about 1/4 or 1/2 hp then all of a sudden they’re jumping around during the fight. The first couple times I genuinely thought it was lag, or teleport skills, but then I fought a Ranger who ran up to me at quarry, took a few hits before reaching the point but was still attacking/dodging/using skills, then jumped back half way to graveyard running back towards his group once he hit 50% hp. The lag jumps only started once someone started attacking him. I even let him “sneak attack” me and once I turned to attack he started lagging around.
So how do I report this? I did it as “scamming” but I dont feel like that really covers it. I really wish there was a box where we could describe what was going on, or more report options. Also, are other people noticing this? I’ve started to see it this whole past week, but in the span of about 3-4 hours I saw 5 people today, which was a new high for me.
I’ve been playing with a handful of friends since launch but over the year most have quit and the few that made it to 80 and the “end game” are playing less and less so now our guild is pretty much dead. Sad times, I know. I’m trying my luck on the forums now, in game recruiting/spam just feels so impersonal.
I am a PvX type person. I enjoy dungeons but still haven’t gotten dungeon master title, some paths are just not pug friendly. I give advice on paths/skips if I know any, I welcome similar advice that I didn’t know about, and I am not an elitist/full optimization dungeon runner. If you find a build that you like and works by all means go nuts, but if you’re gonna tell me “run X build with X weapons or gtfo” then we’re not gonna get along lol (and yes I have had guilds tell me I had to do that if i wanted to join them).
PvP is fun but I find it hard to take it seriously with all the current imbalances and single game type, but I do like to group up and do arenas with other people. I’m both hoping and afraid of the upcoming patch in December, but I’m hoping to get back into PvP more if the “balances” don’t create new, even worse, stronger imbalances.
I was also in a large WvW guild for a while and it was fun but they changed their rules to 100% rep time, which was an issue at the time since my IRL friends were still fairly active (they just weren’t big into WvW). But since the start of these new league things, and all those achievement points, I started to get back into WvW and have been roaming around but miss running with people. I’m not a fan of super large Zerg v Zerg and PvD, so a small-medium presence in WvW as roamers sounds great.
I dont know what else to really put in. I have Teamspeak, but I dont always use my mic, there’s a lot of dogs and airplanes and junk in the background that are picked up every now and then. I live on the west coast which is server time and only know english, if that matters ¯\(°_o)/¯ lol. I main warrior, have a ranger thats zerked out, and a necro and guardian that still need gear, but all are 80’s. I have a 40 somethin engi too, it’s slow leveling though.
I dont know what else i should put in here, these things always feel weird to write. Like a dating profile on meetsingles.com or something, SWM looking for friendly social guild…not that I’ve used a site like that before…(<_<) lol. So send me a msg on here or an in game mail if you have any questions, need more info, or just want to say “Hi” lol
Solo mace with Superior Sigil of Air, no weapon swap. Make sure its as square looking as possible, Glyphic Mace might be the best bet because it looks like it already has some glowy bits.
Healing Signet, Bull’s Charge, Dolyak Signet, Balanced Stance or Endure Pain, Signet of Rage.
Probably want to be a Norn of a bit above average height, but not maxed height. Blonde, with a short scruffy beard if they have it, and whichever muscly yet lean body type there is.
Remember your Norse god speech patterns and you’re set!

Everything else posted on this thread is emotional nonsense.

I hope Anent stops nerfing based off people crying on these forums and gets some actual testers that are actual gamers
sweet, thanks for the replies, i’ll try all these out. I’ve never really tried a condi build, interested to see how it works.
I’m just looking to mix it up a bit. I like to try out new things every now and then, and considering how boring BG WvW is atm I figure now is a good time to try something new.
Anyone got any builds they’re pretty fond of? It can be for anything (zergs, group or solo roaming) or any stats (zerk, bunker, condi, w/e) doesn’t really matter just looking to try something new.
*Mace/shield+GS is what I roam with right now btw.
8/10. But just because of the first/last name. Also, if you hadn’t shared the info about names being inspired by plants I never would have guessed, pretty original (unless someone else did the same thing on one of the other pages in this forum that i didnt read >.< ). Actually 7/10 because you have two order of the whispers! lol jk 8/10
My male warrior is named Arnghus, Arn for short.
Got Arn from the novels/movies Arn – The Knight Templar. It’s Swedish but I’ve always really liked the name so I just went with it.
The “ghus” part is a different spelling of Gus that was part of some Celtic names that I saw while looking for a name. Aonghus, Ferghus etc.
There are male armours that I LOVE but refuse to wear because my male sylvari looks like he’s wearing a dress.
T2 cultural heavy pants. I love the cultural clothes, I can bring myself to put my Sylvari warrior in anything else, but the pants just kill me. T1 looks like a mini skirt, T2 is a dress, T3 in pants are a sash type thing which isnt bad but they sit way to high and don’t flow with the T1/2 chest armors at all (and the rest of T3 is bleh)
Now I can understand where the design team was probably coming from, the armor is very leafy and flowery, very “Sylvari” but we need a pants pants option. Something manly and strong! I feel like I need to hike up my T2 pants when I go running its that girly.
That face was BA, and I too was hoping it would come with the new hair. I’ve had a total makeover kit for awhile ankitten ot using it on any other toon, and some of them need some tweaking, until I get that face.
I’m hoping it’ll come out before the end of the year, they’ve already promised a bunch of other stuff before the end of the year so hopefully it’ll be in one of those updates. I’d bet on the December patch (but I wouldn’t mind a sooner release!)
Between the cripple on savage leap and the cripple on sword AA it’s pretty easy to land the burst skill. It has a pretty wide attack cone and hits a bit further out then it seems like it should.
Shield is a solid choice because of the interrupt and the superior block over sword, but you’ll be losing out on a lot of dps going that route. Sword is a strong condi weapon so you’ll struggle damage wise if you go a power route with it. If you were to go a condi build with Sword/Shield then you’ll be better on the bleeds from AA’s and Flurry, but you’ll miss out on a lot of damage from sword off hand. My warriors torment starts at 9.8k on a moving target w/o any kind of buff and Riposte bleed is 5.2k. 15k damage between two skills is a good size chuck.
Shield is an overall safe bet, but you may end up drawing fights out longer. You could always try a condi/bunker build with sword/shield, you’ll just have to rely on your team a lot to put out a lot of damage.
*It seemed like you were talking from a PvP perspective, if you were talking PvE then you can go either way, no real right or wrong in that area (dungeons are easy so dont let the people only interested in speed clearing builds dissuade you from your shield!)
This has been an issue since launch so I wouldn’t count on a fix.
He’s…definitely interesting
=)
Lol this post is full of dumb. Popcorn-eating time. No wonder why anet does terrible balance, if these are the normal forum go-ers.

In the next PvP Drop (1.5-2 months away) this will be fixed: after two teams are matched up against one another the players will be scrambled so the team assignments are random.
So I’m still gonna be put up against people 10-30 lvls above me the only difference is that now its 50/50 if they’re on my team or not? Well thats a bit better but still kinda sucky. I’d much rather be placed with people my own rank/skill level. But i guess that cant really happen since pvp is really dead =(
So i enjoy the pvp on this game but I’m not one of the hardcore PvP only kind of people, I only just now hit lvl 30. I do solo q arena mostly because hotjoin is just a cluster F of madness that is only good for getting dailies done quickly.
So my question is why the heck am I, a fresh lvl 30, facing people who are lvls 40-50 and the occasional 60? Is it because that pvp is dying and there arent that many people in que my level?
I’ve seen a couple posts about MMR but I have no clue what that is. Matchmaking…rank? rating? And some dev saying that they fixed some problem with MMR, but they arent patching it till next month (which makes NO sense btw), so should that take care of it? Its more frustrating fighting people who are 10-30 levels above me and listening to them gripe than it is dealing with the broken meta.
