nah, remove the F2P tag and it’s a “standard operating procedure”. Add F2P tag, gate content, that gives you advantage, and it becomes pay to win.

I guess i’ll just wait for now and get some feedback, i was kinda disappointed with the core game and really don’t want to waste more money on gw2.

No, it is not possible to use elite specializations in PvP if you do not own Heart of Thorns.

Yes, elite specializations are far superior to normal professions, and have no drawbacks whatsoever.

No, you cannot choose to join matches with other players who do not own the expansion.

Yes, this does mean Guild Wars 2 is now technically Pay-to-Win.

You’re not really familiar with what Betas are for I guess.

I guess you’re not familiar with what betas are, 48 hours here and there isn’t a beta testing, it’s just marketing gimmick to make you pre-purchase the expansion. The cycle of alpha, closed beta, open beta takes months, not a few days.
Not to mention that ANET is “beta testing” on the main servers, forcing(indirectly) everyone, who pvp, to participate. well, no thank you…

Necro is boring to play, especially if you’re playing the celestial build – you’re a punchbag with no mobility and no stability and relatively low damage.

I started with a necro, because it’s easy to play, but the experience was very unfun and frustrating.

I was one of those ragers/afks, i am not proud of it and i am really sorry. However here is the things that frustrate me:

1) the camera in Kyhlo and Temple, when the thing starts rotating, bumping into walls, blocking my view, it literally causes me motion sickness – if this happens in some important fights, i just alt+f4 and chill for 10 minutes.

2) The skill discrepancy – in some of the games, i am the worst player and i cannot kill anyone. Let me describe what happens, i go home, i die, i go mid, i die, i go mid, i die, i go far, i die, etc. – i spend more time being dead than actually playing the game. If this happens in a few games in a row… alt+f4

3) Stealth – getting +1 from a mesmer without even see it coming is just… frustrating.
So much access to stealth(while in combat) with relatively low cooldown and no counterplay is just wrong.

4) too many cheesy builds, that are extremely unfun to play against, e.g. condi mesmer

5) too many bunkers. One of my last games that made me quit gw2 was on foefire –
after playing 7-8 minutes and i was finally downed(not dead!), i looked at the score and it was 70-80 to 70-80. The enemy team was something like 2 bunker guards, mm necro, ele and mesmer.

I am still lurking the forums and hoping for something to change, because i really liked the game, but the amount of bullshlt and cheese is just mind-blowing.

I don’t think they’ll make a lot more improvements to the UI, but they are working on the API and will leave this to third parties.

Now you can use https://www.gw2pvp.de/web/ – the pvp API endpoint is in its infancy, but it’s a good start.

The map voting is just absurd. RNG should be involved only when there is a tie.
There is no point in playing a map with 1 or 2 votes, when another map has 7+ votes, but this happens very often.

The point people keep making, and the one you keep dodging, is that sPvP is not about killing, and especially not about 1v1s.
You can’t take into account long cooldowns, because since sPvP lasts a while they won’t be up for every fight.
You can’t take into account the ability to just try to bunker vs multiple opponents.
Mobility is extremely important beyond combat usefulness, as are skills that exist purely to stall a fight.
None of these things can be balanced around TTK, at all.
Making every class 1v1 viable in different ways would probably make conquest worse in terms of balance, because then you would have thieves with the huge out-of-combat advantage of mobilty, who are also able to 1v1 anyone, and you would remove every bunker spec from viability, because the whole point of those is to stay on point as long as possible without dying.

Killing people is fun, bunkering is not.
WoW has conquest maps as well, for example Arathi Basin, but capping a point is very difficult without actually killing the defenders/attackers.

1) That’s a matter of opinion, and actually just sounds like you don’t like tanks. It’s hard to balance around one person’s opinion. I don’t think stealth is fun (or rather, I think it’s very one-sided fun), but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist, because other people obviously do enjoy it.
2) Conquest is not the focus of WoW PvP. GW2 is also, obviously, a different game, and most importantly neither is balanced around TTK, at all.

I guess a lot of people share my opinion and find this snoozefest boring. otherwise the spvp would have been much more popular.

Since balancing videogames is so easy, could you provide 1 example of a perfectly balanced multiplayer videogame? .

They are not even trying to balance, most of the patches are just bug fixes.

Also, this is an MMORPG with 3 different modes and anet is like the rest of the mmo developers – they’re neglecting the pvp, because only a tiny fraction of the playerbase is actually playing it.

- MOBAS, which are the pvp flavor of the moment, have completely different ttk for each hero from the start of the game and it keeps changing during all the game.

MOBA games have well defined roles, that’s the difference.

Participating in a beta isn’t a privilege and i am not OK with Anet forcing me to participate(indirectly) in the so called “beta weekends”. Most games go through months of testing(alpha, closed beta, open beta) before releasing and what we have here, some half-?rsed “beta weekends”… I don’t bother even logging.

Yes burn does a lot of dmg if you aren’t smart, but most who cry about 10+ stacks after a cleanse typically are standing in the fire.

You can stand all you want in the fire(i guess you mean eles’ Ring of Fire and guard’s Purging Flames) you’ll get only 3 stacks. The things get ugly when you repeatedly move in and out of the circle.

Take a look at dota – ingame guides and proper spectator mode, so you can actually learn the game by watching.

Oh and the game is boring to play – too much bunkering, sustain or stealth, if it’s not that it’ll be some cheesy build like condi mesmer.

If you think they aren’t tracking their points system, match history, etc, while the Leaderboard is off-season then I believe you are inaccurate.

Of course they are tracking everything, i didn’t say that.

They’re just tricking the players into thinking that there is a leaderboard. Did they make an official statement ? While i understand why they’re doing this, it’s very close to false advertising.

Sure, the visual cluster kitten of particle effects is glorious. Clones, phantasms, minions, pets and aoe spam… it’s… it’s… just beautiful.

I am surprised that some people didn’t get that the whole “esports” is just a marketing gimmick.

Hmm this is a really good point. With all the power creep happening due to elite specializations these should be F2P too or else being competitive in PvP will require going through aa pay wall.

O look you figured out arena nets means of generating revenue.
If you don’t want to shelve out the money for the expansion.
Wait until it goes on sale 9 months later.

If some of the professions are stronger with the elite specs, it’ll become pay to win.
Making them free in spvp only, is a step in the right direction.

Do you remember “play the game, not the UI” ? Now it’s “play the AI, not the game”.
I am not qualified enough to speak about balance or anything, but i’ll still say it – this game has too kittening many pets in pvp and a kittenty targeting system.

When i am against a team with a MM and two mesmers i just want to puke in my mouth. Add eles and rangers and the visual clutter and the body blocking is glorious.

For anyone wondering, here is how the stats look. They will be great for min-maxing, if you’re patient enough to record everything yourself, e.g. now i can actually test if Signet of Vampirism is better or worse than Consume Conditions.

IMO, it would be better if you can compare your performance relative to the other players, e.g. i want to know if i contributed enough damage or i was just the punching bag(Top Player Damage Received).

PS: Why don’t you expose the match history and the stats via the API, so the community can take care of this ?

What happens you will have 2 shatter Mesmers in your team against the comps you stated.

If they are coordinated and open up from Stealth to D/D Ele’s they will instagib him.

So your actual problem is your team is not built to counter the other team and while this is solo queue there is no coordination.

So it is not a META thing but solo queue problem.

You mean something like this(only two mesmers and the necro were in party)
I don’t now what’s more fun, getting instagibbed from stealth or tickling each other to death.

It is interesting, but would be better if I could access the game report AFTER I leave the match. I just don’t see it being used when it is buried under 3 clicks.

Make a screenshot, it is not convenient but at least it’s something.

The rest of this feature is now being turned on.

The new stats are great, thank you.
However, they don’t mean much unless you can compare them to the other players’ stats.And for god’s sake, please add match history. The game is 3 years old and is lacking so many basic QoL features.

Anyone that thinks the community is toxic, i dare you to play CSGO on casual(20 people in a game) with voice comms enabled, i even learnt how to curse in Russian.

If you are so sensitive just disable the entire chat and the bubbles over the head. IMO, the game is too fast paced to chat, they should implement dota like chat wheel or better ping system.

I’ve said it before and said it again, an option to disable chat is the worst idea ever and is likely to kill non-group matchmaking.
Well, any more of an option than currently exists. It’s actually really easy. Wonder if that’s the problem, and team chat should actually show up in every chat.

I think i didn’t say anything about a popup that asks you if you want to disable the chat completely(HotS like), didn’t i ?

Leagues are coming. If they are skillbased and not another grindfest, you’ll see where the problem is, but i guess it’s hard to see further than your nose.

Wanted to pop in and say that you did fight premades a handful of times, but there was an almost equal amount of 3+2’s you fought as well. You also had some 4-queues on your team. There are many ways matches can be made, and you can’t always trust the party check.

There are some changes we are exploring that would further reduce the number of uneven roster sizes in matches, but nothing concrete on that yet.

Haha, Mr. Lesh poping with his “statistics” again… Why don’t you just post his last 20-25 matches with scores, party size, personal score, individual MMR and we will make our own conclusions, instead of using phrases like “handful of times”, " almost equal", “you also had some”

What you are doing here is just shaming and indirectly accusing him of lying, which i think is against the code of conduct.
