I’d probably come up with another more valued chest type, charge either real money instead of gems or make them way more expensive to buy. Throw one in the monthly reward as well to tease. They’d have to ditch the junk from them though…
The fact that they have not cared in the least to address the pve/pvp/wvw split in builds and the fact that nothing has been done about preset build loads to accomodate this function says little about the company as a whole. I find it ludicrous that issues such as these have not been implemented for the betterment of the game.
How long do people have to contend with the silence and ignorance that Anet foists upon us in these regards? Are you kidding me that in all this time that nothing has been done about it and that the same old business as usual attitude has prevailed.?
Your business as usual attitude is not what the majority of people want, nor need for that matter. What we need is a company that listens to their clients and discusses matters (on their own flipping website) in a proactive manner which in turn lends itself to furthering and enrichment of the game… as a whole.
It’s about time Anet, for you to get busy with what the players, ie clients, want in the game. It may be your game, your vision, but we should have a kitten say here too in what is needed, because we play the kitten game…
Dan, this attitude makes me ill.
Just checked the patch notes… nerf nerf and nerf. wow!
Thanks everyone for the thoughtful suggestions, really too frustrated to burn through them like i was earlier. Have done a few challenges so far, and had to draw the line after just being stressed out trying to find ones i could get silver in so i could move on to better things.
There’s a few that are so badly done it’s really gotten me to the point of taking a break.
Ok, to give some background I have finished all maps in HoT, Story is also complete, all basic HoT zone achievement points for MP’s done. Now i am at a loss for both ideas and direction.
I need 23 more MP to finish off my HoT masteries, have tried a few of these challenges and do not like either the mechanics and/or being forced to do them, and some of these are definitely in a sad state to begin with.
My question is, I am getting frustrated by not being able to find an alternative to getting these remaining MP and do not see where that could be accomplished. Am i missing something here or should i just resign myself to never finishing them if i don’t do these challenges?
My greatest fear with this is that anet will pull the plug on them and make them only available in the store or via story achievements… oh snap this was so 3 years ago. Is it common for bodily tissue to feel this penetrated this far removed from then?
Agreed, i recently bought another slot to make a revenant since anet gifted us with the level 80 booster and another shared slot. Used it on a rev, squared his gear away and started to learn the class. I quickly logged off after a few events in hot areas and decided that the money spent on another slot was completely wasted.
Revenants in my book suck … so disgusted.
The crappy rng aspect of finding a precursor made me promise myself I would never, ever gratify the ludicrous grinding procedure required to make one of those. Kitten that, if that’ s not a bloody grind I don’t have a frelling clue what is then.
I also refuse to devote that kind of ridiculous time to amassing the insane amounts of materials required; Or in the case of the hot path to them, well… kitten that as well with the price tag. Do i look stupid? This is supposed to be a game, not a full time job salvaging and harvesting nodes. Bully i say…
Their latest rewards reduction patch is what’s at fault here… Salvage Wars 2 FTL
My original reply got deleted but I don’t really care, i speak truth. There is no aaah moment in this game for the vast majority of people. Nothing new, nothing exciting, things people are terming loot are just junk items to be salvaged at the end of the day. Any other game they’d be grey or white items that we sell to a vendor or never bother picking up to begin with.
DR does not help with this either, horrible idea who’s time has come to be executed at sunset. They took our dyes away for cash shop revenue, still fuming over that one. Introduced DR for cough bot control. Your customers suffer not the bots. Really disgusting idea with equally disgusting intentions. Loot has been lame and yawn worthy for a long, long time. Kind of shows the direction this company has gone over the years.
Drop rates for anything in this game just suck. PERIOD. This is not supposed to be a farming game, yet they make the droprates so ridiculous yet… this game is not supposed to be a farming game.
Brain fart just now kitten , uhm doesn’t low, low, LOW freaking droprates such as they are, equate to having to farm your kitten butt off which equates to uhm yeah, mmy brain farted again sorry, farming?
Insane and equally ridiculous amounts of things needed for crafting, collections, or achievements also add to the doldrums this game insists. All done because there’s something broken within Anet that can’t seem to figure out how to put out timely content, fix bugs and content, and allows things that are unbelievably broken to continue for way too long; It’s all a slap in the face really.
I don’t do HoT anymore due to this very reason. It infuriates me that this megaserver/HoT map situation was launched like this and that it wastes my time completely. Matter of fact I don’t do much of anything since about 3 weeks ago when the last DS map did the same at the very kitten end of Mordy.
Just wait a few weeks/months and hope to hell MO is not just spouting rhetoric and actually starts fixing things and doing right by their customers and listening to our problems.
What’s the status on this?
I just wanted to say thank you for helping a good friend out today, not once but twice. You see, he’s elderly like i am… prone to mistakes of reason and judgement. Sometimes we are too hasty and do not read the fine print.
Anyways, he bought his first set of Ascended trinkets yesterday, and without asking for advice decided that two of his rings would both be Red Death. Well, i guess it was also my fault for not letting him know that they are unique and he can’t wear both at the same time. Needless to say, he was upset as he could not fathom why.
I told him to email support, you guys/gals would take care of him. And you did. A mistake was made on the first go around, but i calmed him down and told him to have faith. Email again and be precise about the circumstances and have faith.
You helped clear that all up for him, not once but twice in the same day. The day after it happened even. I can’t say more about your customer dedication. Kudos ANET! Also, than you for making my friend once again happy to play your great game.

Upper management and CEO===>>>>>>> buh byes!
Pretty much what most of us suspected, I think. Sounds all too familiar though for the gaming business models of today. Clueless twits wringing the sponge way too hard…
I used to play Asheron’s Call way back in the day. I wish had the luck in this game that I had there sheesh. If i did I’d be getting an Exotic daily, Precursor 1 to 2 times a week and skins out both sides of my cheeks.
For years, Turbine insisted that there was no truth to players perceptions about loot and RNG idiosyncrasies, yet the rumors about an account based loot flag persisted. Fast forward years later towards the end of AC’s life cycle and lo and behold it was stated that there was indeed this fickle little thing called such…
I believe nothing, the truth is out there!
What’s a precursor? Oo
I don’t know about most of you folks, but I am a bit frustrated with dyes and the way we obtain them now, and the likelihood of obtaining one of significant personal value to each of us (Note i stated personal value, not market value).
Having opened perhaps 30 dyes in the last month or so I am frustrated, to be honest i do not and did not then, like the changes made obtaining them. Be that as it may however, we all know what rngesus can have in store for us.
Therefore, I propose something i think may be a good idea, but we all know that our ideas aren’t thought out too well sometimes… so here goes…
What I would like to see is a simple array of dye numbers we possess for our accounts listed in a personal database that would eventually guarantee us a dye of some degree of rarity.
I am so kitten tired of opening dyes and getting duplicate after duplicate and common dyes to boot. Make it so when we open a dye and the ID number that is generated is the same as one we already have that we generate another roll for the ID and we receive one that we do not already have.
Thus, I am not asking for the rates to be tweaked, just that some kind of sense is made out of the RNG to give us a chance at getting something nice instead of the plethora of common dyes we already have ad-naseum.
This will give us a better chance in the long run of obtaining dyes we do not have; Hell, even if it is a common dye we know that at least down the road we will surely be able to get something nice® than the daily drek we usually manage to garner.
Thoughts?
I don’t post much, but after leveling a new alt to 36 just now i had to chime in, Rubbish! Absolute piece of rubbish game change, nuff said. Thanks Anet, you took the fun out of leveling, really don’t know how you do it. So very disgusted with this change.
i wish i could, have not been able to for months due to password/account issues that are to this day unresolved…
@Xomic
omg this made me spit out my iced tea, thanks for the laugh
“With weapons especially, the number of models is incredibly limited and one note. Probably 90% of Staves, for example, are tree branches with sticks of butter stuck on one end.”
Wow, took the words…
I was seriously about to just stop playing due to the abhorent way in which this has all been handled, but i love the game so much in spite of itself. The arrogance that has been displayed by ANET during this fiasco has been a total negative turnoff by one of the few gaming companies i admired.
I do think a public apology is in order here, post haste sirs! Also, a return to good old listening to your players as they know what’s best for gaming, as we are gaming! We’re gamers, it’s what we do! You may be developers and bring this fine product all together but we know something you don’t… what works and what does not! So cut the arrogance and get back to putting out a bug-free and exciting game world.

for making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about the loot fix!
If they go through with this, and it hits necros hard, i suggest we all roll thieves in protest and zerg wvw into oblivion.
So, you want to nerf all of PVE for some pvp problems? I don’t think I’ll stick around for much longer then; so sick of one side affecting the other in negative ways. With the current state of the game, crap rewards, DR, bugs, unnecessary gold-sinks, less than 0 % chance of anything worth a crap, i can say without hesitation i will be uninstalling gw2 and never looking back.
for me i think it may well be make or break. if the issues with loot drops, MF, and at the very least DR … i don’t think i will have it in me to continue playing this game with the fervor that i do now. gets really sickening and depressing day in and day out getting the shaft at every turn no matter how hard you try or wish it weren’t so.
Hey ANet, would you please consider random timers on all resource spawn times? I think this would get people back out there again in areas like Orr if they had to walk the lands a bit more. Place them randomly and don’t have them just sitting there waiting in the same places all the time, Have them scattered, randomly, where people have to search them out, maybe even cut down on the spawning of them time-wise, but make them appear randomly throughout the whole map in absence of a personal timer.
As it is now, ore such as Orichalcum is too predictable, with the only Rich Orichalcum vein being under a Champion creature in Southsun Cove? I find that just terrible game design there. As an added benefit think of what it would do to the botters :P Then think of what it would do for players.
The whole scenario is a house of cards based on player participation, but for the life of me who wants to participate in something where you make no headway. Spawn times are WAY too short, DE’s contesting WP’s with the former neing way too frequent makes me a sad panda
I understand ANet’s wanting it to be the “endgame” type geography but this is plain out aggravating and detrimental to the game as a whole. What i don’t understand is ANet’s philosophy concerning the so-called undead and their overpowered crowd control abilities and mechanisms. It makes me not want to step foot in there; Not fun not fun at all. Less density, more variety, longer spawn times (ie like 3 to 4 minute respawns) more varied and financially lucrative loot, would be a start in the right direction.
Until then /cry
What about us 99% that lost our houses to this travesty too? Is there a class action in the works here, or do we need to unite and occupy Queensdale?
agreed, DR should be deleted and castrated!

I feel like that old commercial… “I’ve fallen down and i can’t get up!” level 80 shmeighty, i feel 60 when i hit the Shores, risen suck mmk.
I think they were slightly heavy-handed myself, though i did get a nice one tonight that will fetch me 2g, but that’s the first rare colored dye i found in weeks. If i am lucky i find 1 a day nowadays, quite bad droprate imo ;(
