Gliding makes Windfall from Air Keep Shrines obsolete
If you can glide you don’t need windfall which is one of the major bonuses of capping the air keep shrines when owning the keep.
If gliding is staying then windfall needs changing to something usefull.
Log into Sirens Landing – cannot move and client crashes after a few minutes.
All other maps are fine.
They should just revert catapults to their pre-patch strength – it did not need updating. Power = range was fine.
Adding power = damage to cats doesn’t make sense unless you do the same for trebs and ballistas as well.
You can tick down in OS – you just can’t see your participation level as it ticks down.
Done the OS JP guild mission plenty of times and still got pips and track rewards while doing it.
There should be no “cashing out” when leaving WvW. It is bad enough that your character dies if you DC or there is a server crash while in combat in WvW because the system can’t tell the difference between a crash, DC and an Alt-f4 but such events shouldn’t force an involuntary “cash out” as well.
The new gemstore seems very clunky and cluttered to me. Much preferred the old one.
I’ve been playing WvW for a long time, I was there when Anet removed the orbs of power, when they got rid of the quaggan lake, my tag was originally bound on my warrior and only cost 100g, I was there when WvW ranks were character bound.
I have been playing pretty much the same way on the same server. When they got rid of upgrade costs play changed a little as you no longer needed to monitor supply levels for upgrades.
When reward tracks were introduced I had no trouble maintaining maximum participation without ever having to check, even when scouting even when in a squad before they fixed squad participation. When pips were introduced it made no difference to my participation.
Last night during 4ish hours of play I noticed my participation dropping at various times.
Better to let a few pip farmers get away with a few extra pips rather than screw over regular WvW players.
Oh noo… the game finally makes you have to Actively play/participate to get rewards and maintain participation. Oh the horror.
You can really see who the afk reward leechers are.
No, the only people you can tell from this thread are who the mindless ktrainers are.
lol, WvW is about the large scale fights. Even a roamer does at least 1 thing in a 10 minute time span.
This is what i see when these “roamers” complain that they cant keep participation because they aren’t actually doing anything:
If WvW was just about large scale fights it would just be a single open field. Your interest in WvW may just be large scale fights, but there is far more to WvW than that.
With these changes semi-afk pip farmers now have an advantage over border scouts and roamers. I’ve seen them standing in clusters near the warg/harpy spawn points – kill the vet and then afk for 5 mins and repeat. Proof they are afk? – walking up to a group of 4 enemies stood on the vista south of hills and killing them all without any of them even moving. The only reason I saw them was because an enemy roamer flipped their spawn camp and I went to flip it back taking the route through hills rather than through the sentry. I have no idea how long they had been pip farming there as the previous two times flipping the camp back I went via the sentry and WP’d back to garri after flipping.
I’ve seen pip farmers on my own server at the warg point when heading from spawn to south camp on the enemy alpine border.
The alternative to this is the active player who is repairing cannons, mortars & oil after an attack on bay only to spot that their participation is decaying and has already dropped two tiers – you can continue to actively participate in WvW for the benefit of your server by continuing to repair and loose all of your “participation” or you can leave the repairs incomplete to get your participation back up.
The changes to the decay timers has very little impact on the pip farmers.
The main argument for mounts seems to be people saying “Mounts are really great in <insert game name here> so they should add them in GW2”.
This is GW2 and not <insert game name here>. A lot of people play gw2 because it isn’t a cookie cutter MMO.
If you want <insert game name here> then why are you playing GW2? Surely if the features of <insert game name here> were so important to you then you would still be playing it rather than GW2?
If you get the devs to change GW2 into a <insert game name here> clone then the uniqueness is gone and the reasons for playing it lessen and people stop playing.
Keep GW2 different – it doesn’t need mounts.

Repairing (rebuilding after being destroyed) cannons, mortar & oil does not count as participation it seems? Should be the same as wall repair.
They never have given participation unfortunately – the work around I used to use was not to fully repair the wall/gate and switch between siege repairs and wall/gate repairs – however with the decay timer changes this is now less viable so siege repairs (oil/cannon/mortar) should also count as repairs for participation purposes.
Being killed by an enemy should reset your decay timer as well because sometimes you loose a fight.
Nope you are wrong and A and B are correct because you did not read my post.
You get nothing for killing another player when they run away because they ran away and didn’t die. You only get to kill the other player if they stay and fight and if you are better than they are. When the other player runs away all you get to do is recap the sentry outside the camp.
The idea of scouting your home border is to keep your camps friendly to upgrade your keeps. If you leave the map then the enemy turns up, caps the camps and your stuff doesn’t upgrade.i read your post, i just think you are being ridiculous.
You are complaining about how it doesn’t work because you are the only person on map, and there are no enemies at all except one person who you cant lock down and kill who keeps contesting a camp. Well you are forgetting about escorting yaks, you are forgetting about ruins, you are forgetting that there generally is other sentries that flip randomly in the south and in ruins. So even without doing what you should be doing, getting shared participation, you can still maintain participation fine with your choice to remain on a dead map, in what is likely a dead time zone.
Nope, you are still not understanding the situation. I’m not going to give a blow-by blow account of my last four hours in WvW – some of it was hectic, other periods were quiet. I’m also not talking about the same reoccurring roamer either.
On EU servers we like to upgrade our keeps when we can – especially before the enemy morning blobs log in as it makes them a log easier to defend. For the same reason the enemy roamers turn up at random times to snipe dollies and camps to prevent them upgrading – sometimes they will turn up with a reasonable size group and try to rush it at which point you slow them down until help arrives.
Obviously by your remarks you think that EU players are stupid for trying to upgrade stuff on their home borders – we’ll just have to disagree on that.
I haven’t posted here for fun – I have posted here because I shouldn’t have to waste time checking my participation level when carrying out actions to the benefit of my server.
Oh and I did use ruin caps and dolly escorts but found them to be almost pointless as a means of keeping things going.
The best thing was finding that one of the vets was up.
Please can you stop this from dropping down every time you change border – it is getting really irritating having to constantly close it.
Currently when solo scouting your home border the following often takes place:
1) You see an orange dot at a sentry near a camp.
2) You move to defend the camp.
3) The enemy runs away.
4) You recap sentry to keep participation
5) 2-10 mins later back to step (1)Except under the new system step 4 no longer resets your participation to full.
This means under the new system if you want to keep participation you have two options:
A) Don’t scout – roam or zerg instead.
B) Don’t defend the camp, let them cap it and cap it back as soon as it is off timer.Let’s put participation back to how it was.
Several times tonight I’ve had to hop to another border to cap a camp to keep my participation up and hope nothing happens on the border I was scouting while I was away. This is rather daft, especially now that stupid “Skirmish Details” box drops down every time you border hop. That is getting really annoying already – is there any way to lock it to stop it dropping down?Your A and B are both wrong.
A scout can roam and still do their self imposed job, you just need to know how to properly map read. This will open up several sentries for recap, as well as camps, plus a couple ruins if you wanted. if you are lucky, there will be a tower to kill guards at as you run by. A good scout actually lets their commanders know BEFORE the enemies contest the waypoint since they will find the zerg on the move. If the map is dead and nothing flips, then it is your fault for hanging around a dead map without having a commander share participation. so in short, this is a failing on your part
For B… You get 10 minutes for killing a player, ie defending the camp. So your point of having to let the camp flip is false.
Nope you are wrong and A and B are correct because you did not read my post.

Just go to obsidian sanctum – although the participation display isn’t available while on the OS map it continues to decay as normal and you still receive rewards and pips while participation lasts.
I discovered this when I went to do the JP guild mission at the end of a WvW session.
The WvW update should have been timed with a WvW reset and the server links removed.
As it is they should be unlinked asap.
I spent a lot of badges on guild upgrades post-hot and I spend most of my badges of honour on guild siege these days (mostly guild catas).
I use proofs to buy superior siege if I need any siege while roaming as when I’m roaming I don’t get all of my siege out of the bank
I miss the quaggans.
I do not miss the orbs of power.
I thought that the rank requirement was a little low myself.
I’ve been playing WvW since the days of the orbs of power and collecting pearls for the quaggans. I have spent a fair amount of that time scouting. However that means nothing as WvW ranks didn’t exist then.
I started earning WvW ranks when they were character rather than account based of course there was nice a nice boost when the ranks of my various characters got combined when the change to account bound took place.
I have a WvW rank of 3.5k and I’m not a hardcore WvWer as I PvE as well. I know a number of hardcore WvWers who have ranks in excess of 7k.
Run four condi cleanses in WvW and it still isn’t enough especially against dodge thieves who seem to have infinite dodges dropping caltrops so you take 6-8k per tick, you cleanse, and within two dodges you are taking the same damage. Rinse and repeat until all of your cleanses are on cooldown and because of the constant dodging you can rarely hit them.
If you choose to take badges of honour from a skirmish chest then they go into your inventory instead of your bank. You then have to double click through every badge to transfer it to the bank which can be quite a lot of clicking.
Can this please be sorted?
I’ve had the same issue for over a year. GW2 will randomly minimise to the taskbar during play. I can go days without it happening and then have it happen several times in just a few minutes.
I’ve tried closing down every other program and as many background processes that I can get away with but it makes no difference.
What we need is some kind of “Always on top” option that will keep the GW2 client as the active program unless you deliberately tab out.
1) Get rid of- or greatly reduce the transfer costs to allow the playerbase to reset balance themselves. Overall, GW2 has managed their business model very well. The one exception is WvW, Worlds and transfer costs that leave the WvW community, and only the WvW community, to (no matter how indirect) pay for content. Some players transfer to win others transfer to find an environment that maximizes their particular preference of content and so forth. What they all have in common is that they transfer for reasons tied to content (favourable content, matching content), the system encourages it and that is a deplorable business practise where players essentially pay for the game several times over just to re-access their preferred content.
No! Just No!
Free transfers are the original cause of population imbalance and reduced/free transfers since have only succeeded in making things worse.
Do it again and you could finish WvW for good.
Being able to access items from your inventory such as consumables without having to display the entire thing would be useful however it should not be based upon the shared inventory bar. You should be able to link individual items to it regardless of whether they are in shared slots or personal to that particular character.
A single customisable toolbar should be sufficient that the user can place on the screen in a convenient location and choose if it is horizontal or vertical.
I have just spent over an hour trying to join a working bell choir instance.
When I try to join I either get a world full error or it places me into an instance which is on the free play phase.
If I decide to wait it out inside the instance for the instance to reset I get a log-in server error and the instance doesn’t reset so I have to leave.
This is getting frustrating – the bell choir has been going for 4 years surely someone could spare a little time to fix it?
That thread was closed over two weeks ago which is why I didn’t post there.
Please add the following to Materials Storage:
Blood Rubies
Petrified wood
Fresh Winterberries
Maybe the following should be added as well:
Frostbitten Suet
Cold-resistant eggshells
Grawl Firestone
Thanks.
Bandwaggoning is a real pain currently and damaging “server health” something really needs to be done to reduce it.
I have a suggestion – add a multiplier to server transfer costs based upon the number of times the account has previously transferred.
This would mean that the cost of bandwaggoning would rise the more you did it without any additional hurt on more legitimate transfer reasons such as those who wish to transfer because they found they joined a different server to a friend and wish to join them etc.
I do wish that they would remember to include updates in the update notes rather than post them in the middle of another thread.
General question for everybody, but for ANet too… Were we supposed to get birthday gifts yet? I made five toons within 45 minutes of the three-day head start launch, and just logged into one of them. I will not give details, but I got the birthday gift. Head Start didn’t even start till the 25th, so even taking that into account this is a day early.
Did you forget that February this year had 29 days due to the leap year, character age is counted in days and a character “Year” is 365 days?
Today is the first day they have auto-sold with “Sell Junk” for me since they were introduced.
I bought 5 the day after they were introduced and they have been sitting in the same place in my inventory until today. “Sell Junk” is one of the first things I do when clearing down my bags.
The standard merchant in GH & LP is now called “((387300)) [Merchant]”
(edited by Nidome.1365)
These now get sold if you click “Sell Junk” on a merchant.
Perhaps a better option would be to add a checkbox to all tracks and when you complete a track it starts the checked one next and clears the box?
Personally I tend to notice if I have completed a track, so I can go in and select whichever I want to complete next – ok I do have a small amount of completion on the gift of battle track but I tend to spot when I’m on the wrong one.
At least it isn’t as bad as the bug I had in PvP a few months ago where it would change reward track every time I logged to a different character.
Work-around: Add crafting stations to Heart of the Mists, and/or player Home Instances. It’s 900 gems for a Home Portal Stone, and there’s plenty of space to add crafting stations in player HI’s.
Heart of the Mists: No – more gold selling spammers than there are in LA.
Home Instance via home portal stone: It’s 900 gems – that may be an “only 900 gems” for you but 900 gems could well be too much for others.
It’s simple: just put the crafting stations into the spawn points of eotm. It wouldn’t bother anyone, and you can pop in/out between ‘wvw’ and pve same as before.
Unless they have changed it moving from WvW to EOTM resets participation back to zero and if you are in EOTM then you cannot watch your home border map for white swords, orange swords or red dots while crafting a stack of something.
If Anet really believe that crafters are somehow clogging up the queue (and I don’t ever remember seeing more than 4 there) could they not instead have the crafting stations “Close” if there is a queue on the border and “Open” when there is not rather than removing them entirely? This would prevent crafters from clogging a queue but still allow WvW players to hop over and use them when things are quiet or while they are scouting.
QoL?
1) Restore crafting stations to WvW. I’m fed up with the gold seller spam using crafting stations in cities.
2) 3rd weapon slot.
3) More tournaments with better rewards.
4) A “List commanders” option to list all friendly commanders and which borders they are on.

I WvW every day provided I have time. Removing the crafting stations from WvW means I can’t craft while scouting etc. which means I will spend less time in WvW each day.
Please put the crafting stations back so I can WvW more.BTW you usually find more people afking at the spawn entry point or at the Trading Post guy than at the crafting stations.
=))))))))
Scouting the BL spawn area is very important, who knows what those legendary defenders are up to! Maybe they are even playing dice!
This is a pathetic (albeit hilarious) attempt from a PvE player to pretend he does WvW.
Removing crafting stations from WvW was an awesome ideea, thank you for it ANet.
Removing crafting stations from WvW was an absolutely rubbish idea. What makes it worse is the amount of gold seller spam I have to put up with now that I am forced to craft elsewhere.
Oh and I am a WvW player – trying to claim that I am not in order to invalidate my comment is pathetic. I used to spend at least 4 hours every day in WvW – mostly on home and enemy borders (I try and avoid EB as much as possible). I also have been on the same server since launch rather than bandwaggoning to whichever server is currently winning. OK, I’m not diamond rank (too much time spent scouting so merely platinum) but I am long past obtaining full masteries.
5 minutes of crafting used to cost me 5 minutes – now it seems to take at least 15 mins – not sure how that happens but it has – when you are doing that with multiple characters it adds up – hence why I am now doing about an hour less of WvW each day.
Based upon your post I have to question if you really have a clue what happens in WvW beyond blob vs blob in and around SM.

I’ve managed to upgrade a guild to level 61 doing 99% of it (3 others helped with the actual claiming of the hall) and all of the decorations myself.
The guild does have some other members – a couple of friends who log in an hour per month, and some people from my main WvW guild so they can claim a 2nd site but they don’t donate any mats.
No matter what PC/device I use I get stuck in an endless loop on the account log-in page even if I was already logged into my account so I never reach the poll.

So if I run out of food/sharpening stones/oils and wish to craft some more or I wish to access the materials in my personal bank I have to leave home border and re-queue.
If someone calls out in map chat that they need help defending something while I am crafting I won’t see it any more because I won’t be crafting on home border.
Why?
I have seen plenty of complaints in WvW, but the presence of crafting stations wasn’t one of them.
That is why there is a Provisioner add to WvW to buy food with badges.
I can’t get Mussels Gnashblade, level 80 sharpening stones/oils or feast foods from the provisioner plus all my badges go into scribing WvW schematics.
So if I run out of food/sharpening stones/oils and wish to craft some more or I wish to access the materials in my personal bank I have to leave home border and re-queue.

I’ve tried to access this poll from multiple machines. Clicking the link takes me to the account log-in page (regardless of whether I am already logged in or not).
I log in and it takes me back to the account log in page again.
I have always had this problem trying to access these polls from my desktop, but this is the first time that I have had this problem trying to access a poll from my laptop or tablet.
Any suggestions?
I just had another go at this event (at 11am so off peak) – I didn’t adjust any settings as any requirement to reconfigure your settings for an event just seems stupid and wrong to me.
I just watched for ley energy drops – the event only dropped 7 of them in total – I managed to grab the last one – I ran to the place to hand it in and the event ended just before I got there so it despawned from my hands and I could not hand it in.
Even at this time of day with the Shatterer happening at exactly the same time there were approx. 40 people doing this event.
How the previous poster managed to get 11 in one event seems a virtually impossible feat when you only get 1 usable energy drop per 7 people unless somehow you manage to fluke a fresh map where you are the only person doing it.
Anet need to do something to improve this event even if it is to increase the drop rate or to allow you to hand in any energy you are carrying after the inquest is defeated.
(edited by Nidome.1365)
Done this event 3 times so far and haven’t managed to pick up one…..
If you go to the Guild Initiative Headquarters in LA and speak to Bartholemew Kangas the Guild Requisitioner you will find other items you can spend favour on.
