I took a chopper up into the canopy and jumped off to glide down.
Whilst in the air with no mobs or nearby land in sight I somehow picked up “tracking” from him and took 1,699,500 damage before I could get somewhere to land.
Seriously – something like that is crazy, getting one-shotted by a mob that is not within visual range while gliding with no way to avoid it.
Hmm, some mobs do seem a little easier today than they did yesterday, but that could just be me.
As far as I’m aware special glider skins are not required to use it. You just have to learn the mastery for it.
Am I playing a different game to everyone else?
The Legendary Wyvern seems to have 3 times as many HP as before.
Veteran smokescales were challenging before, but this time I have been one-shotted by them more than once running exactly the same build as last time.
Guild Mission/Favor problem for 1-2 p guilds
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Nidome.1365
I am in a 7 man guild of people who know each other IRL except 4 of those haven’t logged in for over a year, one never reps and the other has been absent for 3 months, so effectively it is a one man guild. I have by myself unlocked guild bounties, treks and rushes and run these most week solo.
Will I still be able to solo these missions after HoT? Or will I have to try and give the absentees a prompt to be active again?
The guild currently has 50 merits – do these (and any earned in the next 3 weeks) need to be spent before HoT or will they have a use?
Any chance that something can be done about this what appears to be an exploit that allows people to build siege in such areas?
Perhaps lock it so people cannot spend supply in a siege locked area, so even if they place the blueprint they cannot build it?
It is frustrating when you play fair and the enemy doesn’t.
3 Crashes in PvP since patch – only managed to complete one match so far:(
The awards on this still seem to be bugged for a number of people.
Apart from one reward of 20 blooms for an invasion event I’m only getting 5 blooms. After a few hours (and including the 5 I managed to get yesterday) I’m now up to a grand total of 60 blooms earned so far.
I don’t think I can keep doing this event if you can’t sort it out. This is seriously bad publicity for HoT.
This is still bugged on rewards surely?
My first one after the patch gave me 20 blooms and a chest, but every one since then just 5 blooms and nothing else regardless of how many stacks I have.
Other people are claiming that they are getting 30 blooms per event.
This event is seriously screwed still.
The issue now is that a lot of people have quit the event – although some people have reposted stuff about getting missing rewards later nothing has been posted on what the correct reward level should actually be and therefore it is being assumed by large numbers of players that the max reward is 5 blooms per hour making the higher cost rewards virtually unreachable making the event pointless.
Just as a note – I don’t do Reddit or Twitter either and a straw poll in one of my guilds suggests that I’m in the majority on that.
This is already “guild wars” as that comes from a historical event in the lore of the game
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars
I started making a list as to why your suggestion would be bad, but after reaching point 5 I decided just to delete them and say “its a bad idea”.
(edited by Nidome.1365)
Fighting Bookworm Bwikki today and his hit points reset while he is being attacked which means he wasn’t taken down before the event timer expired.
Last week fighting Half-Baked there was no way to remove the fire shield making him impossible to defeat with a small group.
I’ve had about 4 or 5 whispers in the silverwastes so far today – all within the space of 5 minutes from different accounts but identical messages.
They must be able to use some form of phrase parsing on whispers – I’m sure that some of those word combos shouldn’t appear in a genuine whisper.
I have noticed that for the past two days (so just prior to the patch) that my PvP Reward Track has changed from the active one to the Silverwastes one when the dailies reset.
This is quite annoying as I didn’t notice until I got a reward from the track each time and also means that I have wasted track progress on a track where I need nothing instead of the track where I do want stuff from.
People leave, people join – nothing new
You tend to find that the people who leave would leave regardless but they feel that they have to assign blame to the game manufacturer rather than their own inflexibility.
Every thief has access to the same skills and weapons as every other thief, every engi the same access as every other engi, etc.
Observe, adapt and overcome(sometimes).
The only time this isn’t true is when your opponent is somehow cheating such as the time I met a Mesmer who was able to generate 6 active clones at the same time in WvW.
I’m getting the same thing on about half my characters. It reappears whenever I WP.
All rewards in wvw and EOTM should be based around killing players.
I assume you mean killing the characters of players rather than the actual players as I’m sure killing people is generally frowned upon;)
This however would make both WvW and EotM far more coverage based than it already is.
In EU this would certainly kill EotM entirely as whichever colour has SFR would just blob all opposition if that was the only way to get rewards making it pointless for the opposition to even go to EotM.
Making all WvW rewards only kill based would ultimately destroy WvW as it would just become blob vs blob and if your server is out blobbed you get no rewards which means people either leave the server or stop playing. Eventually the biggest blob server would run out of people to fight -> no fight = no reward = stop playing.
A better solution would be to remove WXP rewards for EotM.
Introduce a WvW reward track like the PvP ones.
Use WXP ranks earned after buying all WvW abilities to be used to advance on these tracks.
Improve WXP rewards for defending objectives & repairs to encourage people to carry out these activities, making defending more rewarding than capping may discourage the sort of trains you had during golem rush week.
Remove WXP rewards for building siege (otherwise people might build troll siege to earn WXP).

On the new log in screen I type in my email address, the same email address I have used for many years and below it pops up the question did you mean xxxxxx.net? (where the xxxxxx is the start of my email address)
Do you have something against a European top level domain that has existed for nine years?
Why assume a non-us top level domain is invalid?
Why is it questioning an email address that is in your database?
Is this a sign of programming competence or incompetence?
I think the parsing routine that prompts this needs some work…..
It doesn’t force you to do anything. It says if you want a dungeon reward track you have to complete story or wait for it in rotation.
Yes, but I have already completed them, but in order to get the same level of benefit that a new player gets for completing them I have to do it again.
As they system knows that I have completed them as I can still open explorables, why can it not recognise this in PvP Reward Track selection as well?
You need to complete the story mode again. Personally I find this whole system absurd – why should we be forced to do PvE content to access PvP rewards?
So this is another way to force old players to repeat content?
It is quite possible that some of them were completed prior December.
It would be nice if this little detail was shown on the tooltip or even just the wiki.
It would also be nice if it could tell me which explorable paths I am missing for the dungeons I never completed rather than just telling me that I have completed 3/4 paths, but I won’t hold my breath on that one.
I was wondering why some of the dungeon reward tracks seem to be unavailable to me?
The ones which I do not have available seem to have a countdown timer showing various time periods between 1 week and 2 months.
I checked the wiki and all it said was “Dungeon tracks are on a two week rotating cycle. Players can complete the story mode of the associated dungeon to unlock its reward track permanently.”
I have completed story mode on all dungeons.
Is this a bug or is the wiki incorrect?
happy I don’t have to wait for my hom rewards, decided not to get HoT and play some of the better mmos out there lol
So you are giving up playing MMOs then?
I was a tester for a major corporate software project once. I picked up various bugs during testing. Most were fixed within 24 hours and worked fine until the end of testing which was a period of several months.
On go-live day when the software replaced the old system I encountered over 60% of those bugs again, and this time they took several days to fix, and one bug solved during testing in 2 days took 3 months to fix on the live system.
It is very rare for software updates to work entirely as intended even with extensive testing and bug fixes sometimes cause bugs elsewhere.
They aren’t plants.
Sylvari don’t count as plants either.Risen don’t count as their living version, but as Risen, no matter which race they are.
Everything only falls into a single category for the Slayer achievements.
Sylvari may be plants but the only Sylvari you fight are Nightmare Court and as there is a “Nightmare Court’s Bane” slayer achievement they count against that.
Risen count against the “Zhaitan’s Bane” slayer achievement.
Mordrem are plants and there is no alternative slayer category for them to fall into so really they need to add a “Mordremoth’s Bane” slayer achievement or allow them to count as plants.
Why don’t Mordrem count as plants for the plant slayer achievement? After all they are plants aren’t they?
My plan was to level a revenant to 80 using tomes to avoid the NPE, kit it out and then start map clearance & living story to lean the skills.
I have 8 characters of which the last two were levelled up under the NPE system. I found the NPE was a major obstacle to leaning how to play the class so I don’t want to repeat that kind of experience again.
All of mine have between 211 and 214 left-over points (haven’t bothered with all of the SW points with some).
There either will or won’t be something to spend them on, which no doubt they will enlighten us at some point…..
A good commander in EotM is one who doesn’t ragequit when he is blobbed by superior numbers and keeps going.
Anyone can lead a K-Train when they have superior numbers.
Having completed the personal story with the rest of my characters since the release to LS2 I can attest that it always starts the last episode rather than the first episode of LS2 immediately after completion.
I have just been quitting that episode and starting it from the first but I guess that if you are not familiar with LS2 it would be confusing.
I was just trying to complete LS2 with my 5th character and found that I cannot damage the shadow dragon at all. No matter what attack I tried with whatever weapon. I have checked my combat log after each attempt and the only attack of mine which was listed was “Wave of Wrath” which was absorbed!
The health bar of the shadow dragon did not move at all at any time during any attack with any weapon.
I am assuming that as I have killed the shadow dragon multiple times before (including with this character when helping guildies get the achievements) that this is a bug.
As killing the Shadow Dragon is important for completing this story step could someone please look into this?
Personally I’m finding the split steal to 2 keys a pain up the !!!!!!!!!! currently.
I had an idea:
Lets Get an AP reset whit HoT
And the AP- ladder for GW2 (original) will be saved and we can see who did it best for the original game.
when the next exp comes we can get a reset againthe reward track (for AP) will stay at the Achieved position so we can continue to get the next tier of rewards and skins.
do we start form 0?
No!
any permanent achivement done like weapon master/ slayer/ and so on- will stay
so we can continue whit them.
so General, Competitive and Collections AP stayand we get rid of Historical, and Daily AP
and we can gather new dayly AP after HoTThe only problem is whit Story Journal AP because if you have done them you can’t get them again, so vets can’t get them and new players can
so here are some solutions:
- Make them repeateble – so to earn them again we need play the season again after the expansion to get the AP again
- Make them to give reward point for the track of rewards (for ppl that haven’t done them) but not actual AP
-or make them give AP for GW2 (original) ladderTL;TR
Lets reset AP From Historical, and Daily
and keep only General, Competitive and Collections AP at HoT’s start
And keep the position for rewards that we have atm
You need a new calendar – today isn’t April 1st

The purchase link detects your location and directs you to the shop for that location.
I am in the UK so it lists the prices as £35/£60/£80 for me.
The legal requirement is for them to charge me VAT as I am in the UK.
VAT is 20% – however if you convert those prices from £ back to $ you find that the UK price is 25% higher than the US price when legally it should only be 20% higher.
The product is a digital download so there are no shipping costs involved.
Why are people in the UK being charged an extra 5%?
Can you buy a HoT Pre-Purchase as a gift for someone else?

While I fully understand that I have to pay VAT in the UK.
I have done some calculations on the Deluxe and Ultimate versions and found that if you take the US dollar price, add VAT and then convert it to UK pounds then it is about 5% more expensive than the UK pound price listed on the official website.
Why is there an additional 5% fee on top of VAT for purchasers in the UK?
in EU there is VAT, that’s why the same figure.
It is not the same. The ultimate edition is $99.99 in the US. In the UK it is charged in pounds which when converted back to dollars is over $125.
VAT in the UK is less than 25%.
They are charging UK players extra.
After reading this thread to date I can make the following summary of 97% of the posts so far (paraphrasing for simplicity):
“I play a XXXXX and it has been nerfed, but the other classes haven’t” (insert every class for XXXXX).
“You have ignored the YYY players and favoured the ZZZ players with these changes” (YYY can be either PvE or PvP, but whichever you insert for YYY, ZZZ is the other option).
The main issue is that instead of being content with a system that mostly works a vocal minority keeps complaining about the current system (and this applies to all aspects of the game, not just traits) while the content majority being happy with the status quo have been mostly silent. Because of this Anet introduce changes which end up screwing over everyone and then over a period of several months have to readjust all of the changes to make them work properly.
Please remember the following with regard to changes:
1) Your theory on how the changes will affect you will probably not match the actual physical gameplay. (Based upon historical changes where roughly 75% of them did not work as people predicted).
2) Based upon past changes Anet will be readjusting all of this stuff for months after implementation to sort out the stuff that isn’t working properly (but most of the vocal people will claim that they missed all of the stuff that is really over and under powered).
3) The vocal minority does not represent the entire player base – please stop making changes to the game based upon their opinions.
Are there any groups in the EU that still do Organised Dry Top events for T5/T6?
(edited by Nidome.1365)
Endgame is exactly what it says and therefore is when the game ends.
With regards to GW2 the game ends when one of these occurs:
1) The servers are permanently switched off.
2) You have done everything possible in the game and there are never going to be any more updates or expansions produced.
3) They introduce victory conditions and someone “wins”
Anything else isn’t actually “endgame” even if you call it by that title.
You do not NEED a mount in GW2.
Mounts are used in other games for swift travel over long distances – in this one you have waypoints and Azura gates.
Any creature which could legitimately serve as a mount in GW2 (as it would have to carry the weight of your character, their armour etc.) are already no quicker than your character and would theoretically be slowed by the additional weight.
And before anyone mentions it – as seen in the personal story, a character without swiftness moves twice as fast as a Charr tank.
But seriously, you get people join GW2 because they are bored with their old MMO and then they start asking for it to be turned into a clone of the game that they got bored with.
If you want to play a game like your old one, go back and play your old one. The reason a lot of people play GW2 is because it ISN’T a WoW clone.
1
Why dont they just block of borderlands? They are all rather familiar and most would rather join EB
Personally I try to avoid EB most of the time – too many people willing to give up everything they hold on the border just to flip SM for 4 minutes BETWEEN ticks
2
If differentiating the point system at night vs at morning is a problem for some players, please tell me.
Are you going to tell someone who works odd hours or is posted away from home that they are worth less than you are?
I have some friends who used to live within an hour’s drive from my house in the UK – they have been posted to Canada for 3 years and all play GW2. Do you think it is fair to tell them “Hey, I know it wasn’t your choice to move to a NA time zone, but because you have moved I think that you are worth less than me”?
Personally I don’t think so, do you?
Well I was a little shocked when they said that the avg WvW level was ~300.
Well, anyone who has never been to WvW will have zero ranks, and anyone who went there solely for the purpose of map completion under the old map completion rules would have a very low WvW rank, and that is just a start.
I have been told that there are people out there who buy secondary, tertiary etc. accounts when they are on a special offer price, set them up on servers which they face in WvW on a regular basis and then only visit WvW on the characters on those accounts when they have a machup against those in order to spy and troll. If such accounts do exist then they would also have a low WvW rank.
In addition to that you have players who went inactive before getting many (if any) WvW ranks as they were not an original feature of the game.
And on top of those you also have the people who have done brief forays into EotM to pick up the “cheap” APs.
I’m sure to have missed a number of reasons why people have low of no WvW ranks.
So taking all of that into account I am surprised that it is even 300, however average WvW rank is a meaningless value unless Anet found a way of only including legitimate active WvW players in their average and excluding the examples I gave above.
I don’t understand the need to devalue everything.
I mostly PvE although I do some casual WvWing. I took a break from the game and when I started playing again I found that WvW rank points had been introduced some time while I was on my break.
Despite the fact that I started earning my points late and my casual WvW play I have earned enough rank points to gain full mastery in everything.
Reducing the costs is completely unnecessary. If a casual WvW scrub like me I can get all of the WvW masteries then anyone can.
Just on a side note – it seems that there is current trend to make everything easier for new players and ignore the “veteran” ones. I would suggest that this is counter productive in the long term?

That is a datamine. Various sources have been publishing stuff which has been datamined since the launch of the game. A lot of it appears in the data many months before it becomes available and some of it never appears at all.
You should always treat datamined items as speculation and rumour until it is confirmed by an official ANET source – not fact.
Additional issues (also added to my first post here):
NPC workers getting stuck is an issue I’ll take note of for later, but probably isn’t related to the immediate issues with WvW cross-server data we’re investigating now. We’ll have to take care of the World (vs. World) being on fire first.
The NPC workers becoming inactive after a patch bug has existed for well over two years and has been reported so many times that most people just accept it these days.
All you need to do is interact with a bugged worker and they will start moving again within 30 seconds.
Lost one keep due to this, couldn’t repair it quick enough because surrounding locations didn’t have much supply to take to repair it.
Any ETA on fix, or perhaps roll back the update until someone can sort the problem?
Was upgrading our beloved Hills Keep before the last update, got it to tier 2 with wp running, supply count was 0/900. Now after this update i ran back into hills just to see it still tier 2 with wp running BUT the supply count is reduced to 500. Ran out of range and back in to see if that fixed but nope. Even mapping or a complete re log did nothing.
We have fully upgraded keeps showing 1700/500 supply. Towers have the same bug.
At another keep we cannot but the final two upgrades from the left suide as we cannot get the supply in the keep above 550 as the pervious upgrade has bumped the limit to 550 supply.
