Condi Rev isn’t even in that bad of a spot now is it? They’re 3k behind tempest which isn’t that bad. The way everyone made it sound I expected Condi Rev to be garbage but according to qtfy.eu it’s at 3.2k dps and the top classes are 3.5k or 3.4k.
I think their point was if you’re on green circles sometimes they take you out of grenade range so use mortar there.
I like how everyone keeps acting like DH are OP, so many of you walk at a DH standing still and wonder why you get blown up. Tempest and Rev are OP, honestly a lot of classes are strong only two not making waves seem to be Thief and Warrior. Also let’s look at the all the Dragon Hunters tearing it up in the ESL.
DH so OP look at them dominate the ESL.
Yeah guys, DH is so OP look at them dominate the ESL.

That’s the Condi Druid for PvE content. Sigil of Geomany on Torch and weapon swap on cooldown, use Bonfire right after weapon swap and you put Bonfire on an 8 sec CD. Glyph of Empowerment is a 13% party increase because the seed it spawns makes a stack of Grace of the Land. When your Celestial Avatar is off cooldown activate it press 4 then press F5 to leave. The animation finishes and gives 5 stacks of Grace of the Land.
Viper Armor/Weapons, Sinister Trinkets, Sigil of Geomany on Torch, Sigil of Agony I think (Bleeding Duration sigil).
Zerkers everything, Engineer and Ranger are the two classes that pull of Condi best.
Super awesome of you guys to hold these tournaments, any clue if you may make the 7 days cooldown apply to include the next tournament. It’s fun and all but I can feel a lot of teams getting discouraged if it’s Seraphs of Fortune and The Dream are the finalist every week.
Wait condition damage guardian is a thing? They have one condition?
You can go to the mist from Lion’s Arch at level 1 or 2 or whatever.
Honestly I’m all for learn to play but Turret Engie is a bit too strong at the moment. Either they need to have less CC or turrets need to be squishier. Turrets right now are just so much stronger than spirits/minions and can’t be crit, have really good regeneration.
My main problem is a turret engie requires an entire team to play around them. A bad turret engie can 1v1 long enough vs anybody to get help, a good turret engie will never lose a 1v1 you simply can’t cleave the engie and it’s turrets down between all the CC. Also the ability for an engie to influence a fight while being across the map is too strong. Personally I think a solid solution would be turrets become inactive if a ranger isn’t within a certain range of them.
I have to disagree with the Lord Helseth casting. I don’t want every single play made compared to something he’s done in the past.
I’ve never really had trouble with Guardians/Ele either as D/P or S/D. S/D can be unblockable and rips boons non stop. D/P has silly burst and both classes are fairly squishy.
You realize they’re getting a specialization that’s getting the new weapon. Maybe rifle doesn’t make sense on thief but it might on the specialization.
My main point is the class has next to no representation in competitive PvP yet it’s “clearly OP” if something is that OP it’d make more appearances in the most competitive scene.
I question all these Ranger “mains” who think LB is skillless/OP. Play against good players and you’ll find out it’s pretty on par with the rest of the classes. God forbid Rangers be decent for once, lets nerf them based on Rangers nobody ever heard of talking about how cheese they are. Lets not worry about Heartseeker spamming thieves or turret engies and how mindless they can be.
Most classes have a build that can be mindless, however theirs a difference when played by someone good.
It’s so OP that’s why we see a whole 1 played competitively. Pretty sure Ranger is the least represented class in the competitive PvP scene.

Plot twist no new weapons, new specialization lets you dual wield 2 handed weapons. GS/Hammer/Staff would be fun.
See the problem isn’t the new reward system, it’s the lack of a tournament structure or anything competitive. The “exclusive” PvP skins weren’t very nice, simply special because they could only be obtained in PvP. Now there is Glorious armor which doesn’t look half bad and is exclusive to PvP. I agree maybe more unique skins to PvP wouldn’t be bad but I don’t know any fulltime PvPer upset with the changes. One person on my friends list mentioned he actually opens bags now as opposed to the old reward chest, he also has more than 100g which he never had before playing PvP full time.
Yes PvP rewards could be expanded upon but I really don’t think it’s in anyway “worse” than it was before.
I don’t really see how it encouraged people to leave. I think they were a little late on fixing how poor PvP rewards are but the new rewards encourage me to PvP more. I was a PvX player but played quite a bit of PvP and it was just depressing playing for next to nothing. Now I can play PvP and not feel like I’m missing out because I can still get gear/levels/etc from PvP.
You like it because you were never a pure pvp player. I don’t think there’s any of those left anymore, but those are the people I was talking about. You know, the ones with nothing higher than level 10. As one of those players, all this system does is remove barriers to pve/wvw content that you couldn’t experience before since you were level 10.
As a PvX it’s easy to love this system because it gives you pve rewards – things that you’re going to use in your other gameplay.
I don’t get how it hurts pure PvP players? If literally all you did was PvP before, you can still do that. You’re getting more things that allow you to PvE/WvW if you choose to, but nothing forces you to. They remove barriers and you’re making it sound like it’s a bad thing. PvP players can make gold now, can actually level a character to 80 if they want to but nothing is forcing you.
Yeah a class we know next to nothing about, totally OP
I’m honestly starting to think most of these post are just troll post at this point.
I think this PvP system is pretty spot on in terms of design/rewards.
The way I feel, and I think many others do as well, is that pvp rewards were only introduced in an effort to transition people out of pvp. Before the wardrobe merges and tome of knowledge spam you would just have the level 1 or 2 character that you made on release and just be stuck there. Now all of a sudden you have sets of exotic equipment and a level 80, so you can feel encouraged to leave the mists and never come back.
That’s better than what pvp had (only account bound dyes) but it’s also not really what a pvper would want. A pvper would want an exclusive reward, but then you’d just get pvers complaining about that because they would “feel like [they] HAVE to pvp” in order to acquire it so anet would never actually do that. As it is, there are 3 exclusive armor sets from the old pvp system and THERE ARE STILL threads on reddit complaining about it every week.
I’d really love this, I can’t craft while I wait, I can’t map complete while I wait. My options are dress up in wardrobe or look at the trading post. The ability to queue for PvP outside of the mist would honestly improve my quality of gameplay.
You know what is tons of fun? Losing because you took a break and are behind the gear curve. I think this PvP system is pretty spot on in terms of design/rewards. My main complaint is the matchmaking/balance but I love how PvP functions. I can make a level 20 character and PvP with out having to grind all the way to 80, I don’t have to go unlock skills or “earn” my gear behind weekly caps.
Right now if someone wants to PvP they can. Nothing stops them, what you want is to exclude people because of “story”?
Once I learn a recipe I should be able to use it on any character at the required level. When I came back and learned basically everything else is account bound I assumed that meant any learned recipes too. Also they use laurels so I don’t see why something that expensive/time gated isn’t account bound, along with the fact that the equipment is.
I didn’t read through all of this, but the problem with traps is someone has to walk through it. Most people already know to just run from a roaming thief. Also if you’re not in stealth setting the trap I’m simply going to just not walk through it.
Honestly I use GS at fractals 40+ simply because the dps isn’t that different and it’s just safer. Even if you have the Sword animation down occasionally you’ll end up going some random direction. Also the GS slams 5 stacks of vulnerability every 6 seconds so it’s not entirely selfish. You already bring spotter/frost spirit forgoing the warhorn means little with the might nerf and most of the time you have fury anyways from other classes.
They aren’t going to add a katana. Just like they aren’t going to add rapier. You have one handed sword and two handed sword no reason to go and add more. I think rifle would be good but the kit would be similar to the ranger’s longbow kit. More damage the farther you are, stealth. Mace wouldn’t be too bad as like a back yard beatdown thug type weapon. I could still see greatsword.
The thing is I’ve noticed D/P is really pubstompy. If I’m playing against good players it’s much less of a problem. The reason I think S/D is stronger is because of that boon ripping. The evade is great for survivability but the ability to rip boons is insane. Also Larcenous Strike is the second attack is unblockable so you can cast the first half, cast Basilisk Venom and jump targets that think they’re protected. Also with conditions everywhere a lot of classes don’t have to fight you in your blind field from Black Powder. Necros, Rangers are going to move out of it and pew pew away. Warrior’s have berserker’s stance to basically ignore blinds while they stomp you. Along with the fact that most classes are decent at stopping or countering burst.

Best advice is 25/30/0/0/15 and bring all your weapons, it’s only 6 but I switch them up all the time.
Have you tried tank engie in spvp? I am an abysmal guardian but I can 1v2 maybe 1v3 a point as an engie.
I know hearing L2P is annoying but really the roll a thief and learn is the best advice. Once you start playing a class you really start to understand it and what stops it.
A. Fun is subjective but I have two definitions of fun. Skyhammer is fun when I just want to durdle around and goof off, Skyhammer is extremely unfun when I have to play it in solo queue because it over emphasizes the ability to knock people off. A lot of competitive players that want this to be an eSport find interesting maps that promote some sort of strategy fun. Playing against competent teams is also fun. The big difference between solo and team for me is in most team games the score is fairly close, come solo queue matches a vast majority of the games are a 150-200+ score difference. That’s not fun. Having people rage quit isn’t fun, losing that bad isn’t fun, to some extent winning that bad isn’t fun.
TLDR: Some maps are inherently not fun/poorly designed leads to no fun. Also bad matchmaking.
2) Rewards are pitiful, yes you want this to be two separate games but in reality they aren’t. I’m actually starting to play PvP more and more but while I’m playing PvP I’m missing out on any gold that could be made. People like being rewarded, skins only go so far. Especially skins that can take a while to obtain in PvP can be obtained with ease in PvE. I’d really like to see some sort of monetary reward, PvP in my opinion takes a whole lot more skill than any part of PvE or WvW and I get nothing to show for the most part. You’re also segregating a community. I’m sure more PvE players as they get bored would love to explore PvP, but once they see the return a lot leave. Why dedicate that much time get good at something for nothing in return. You’re also not helping PvP players that want to visit PvE. As it stands if you did PvP all year you don’t have a level 80 (experience in PvP may be too much to ask) you also have a measly amount of gold to get started from the few dyes you got worth anything, you could have put in twice the time as a PvE player with a legendary and show up to PvE with >100g. PSST make Zaishen chest again.
TLDR: I feel the lack of rewards is going to make it hard to convince PvE players to come to PvP and doesn’t really encourage PvP players to ever try PvE.
III- GAME MODES!!! Conquest gets really boring after awhile. Look at Legacy of Foefire, all you have to do is take out the points and make it more of an attack and defend match. You have trebs in Khylo, do something similar to the luxon or kurzick game where you have 3 trebs to take out an enemies keep or something. Deathmatch because most new players think that’s what it’s about anyways. Look at any other MMO even GW1, looks at shooters, fighting games there are endless possibilities just try something new. Start with something safe like deathmatch as a new format then branch out from there.
TLDR: Game mode variety would be great.
D. Standardized models. A lot of people complain about asura because they make them tiny as possible and they’re next to impossible to locate. Seriously in the condition cleave minion meta finding an asura among 4 ranger spirits, a pet, and possibly 1-7 necro minions is the most aggravating thing on Earth. Maybe don’t ban Asura just have each race have a standard size, max height asura, mid height human and sylvari, min height norn and charr.
TLDR: Character normalization wouldn’t hurt.
5) Balance, classes are ridiculously unbalanced. It’s clear, balancing classes is already hard. Balancing them between PvP and PvE is impossible. I think separating PvP and PvE skills isn’t a bad idea, just change up numbers where necessary or change skills to fit into PvP a bit better. Some classes trait lines are horrendous to go along with that. Rangers have precision/crit damage in the same line yet the Grandmaster traits are abysmal compared to the thief’s precision/crit damage trait line.
TLDR: Balance because every team needing 3 classes isn’t fun to play with, against or watch.
In my opinion Asura has some really strong abilities. Pain Inverter was actually nerfed it was too strong, Technobauble is a little better on a ranger to abuse Moment of Clairty for a 5 second daze, Radiation Field is severely underestimated. It’s an AOE poison and weakness generator. It’s insane in WvW and GvG.
As for requiring more damage on hammer, you do realize the AA chain does more damage than the greatsword. No the greatsword doesn’t attack faster either, both weapons have a 1/2 second cast time on their AAs.
Asura cultural T3 and the way Braham’s armor looks on them is the best.
Greatsword can be really good, if you’re asura and really want to own roaming run GS/SB 20/30/20 the big thing is Moment of Clarity turns technobabule into a 5 second daze.
People over exaggerate quite a bit. Rangers aren’t bad, but they are a little awkward because they have some really weird weapon sets and traits.
I think people complaining about heartseeker are the ones that just see HS HS HS HS HS. I often use it as a gap closer, so a fight might be stealth, backstab, AA AA AA, HS to close the distance, Backstab, AA AA AA, HS HS HS.
These post are getting really old. I’ve recently rolled a thief and it’s not just stealth backstab and win. My main is a Ranger notably one of the less popular classes. I have no problems with thieves on my ranger because I didn’t just QQ I learned to play against thieves. My build is great for roaming, I have a 2 second daze, 2 second daze and 5 second daze which pretty much turns a thief into a PvE mob. I’m not going to say I kill every thief that comes at me because I’m not that good and every now and then someone is going to get the better of you. However I’ve killed my fair share of theives while roaming so this QQ OMG THEIF OP NERF NERF NERF post every other day kind of post is getting quite old.
I have to disagree, 3s of stealth isn’t going to save you if your longbow is out. Stealth may belong on Shortbow, or replace Moment of Clarity with when ever you interrupt/daze someone gain 3-5s of stealth would be much more useful. I wouldn’t mind seeing stealth on GS, Sword, Shortbow but it’s really awkward on Longbow.
I think one problem is its just a clunky class. Longbow is really goofy, I’d honestly take a bow set similar to Southsun Survival. Make Longbow automatically 1500 range and replace that trait that gave it and harpoon gun 1500 with splinter weapon. Splintering auto attacks on the harpoon gun are fantastic, I’d prefer damage over a bleed though. It’d work great with barrage and piercing arrow. I’d love to see a disabling shot, it either cripples or snares for a second and makes the enemy unable to use skills for x seconds. A charge shot that deals more damage the longer you hold the button would be awesome.
Axe is the other weird weapon. I see them used occasionally but it really isn’t a great main or offhand. I’d be happy if we lost both Axe MH/OH for either Dagger MH or Sword OH, or even give us staff. I mean we’re already shamany support with spirits and healing spring so I don’t see why staff would see too off.

Oh no I’m not complaining about precision/crit damage being in the same line, it’s fantastic. Just the traits in that line are really bad. If you’re not running traps there are no good grandmaster traits to take.
My problem is really I don’t see why traps belongs in Skirmishing at least not while Skirmishing is Precison/Crit Damage. The grandmaster trait itself doubles condition duration which has no synergy. Traits need a lot of love. Rangers got “buffed”, warhorn was the only actual buff, Greatsword is questionable, Longbow was just dumb. Giving 1200-1500 range weapon stealth is unnecessary. Rapid Fire stacking vuln isn’t great because it takes so long.
I just want to start a quick discussion on how bad our traits are. First of all the worst line is the Skirmishing. Pre/Crit Damage, yet one of our Grandmaster traits is traps which are mainly condition damage, or would fit in with condition duration. The other Grandmaster trait is Moment of Clarity, Rangers have 1 daze I can think of off the top of my head and that’s GS 5. Technobauble if you’re an Asura.
I’m sure there are other traits just as bad but I was just looking at that line today and thinking it’s such a mess.
You don’t have to run those 3 builds Masculino. Traps are 100% viable and excellent at area control. I recently switched from traps to what started as GS/LB but switched to GS/SB. Longbow is really mediocre. The stealth on the 3 skill isn’t useful, Barrage hurts you used on zergs. I currently just plink away until our zerg initiates then use GS to swoop in active Quickening Zephyr and you’re evading pretty quickly so it goes fairly well. It also is quite good at roaming.
This is my current build.

Signet of the Hunt is only used for running it gets swapped for Technobauble when roaming in small groups or Pain Inverter for ZvZ.
(edited by NinjaSonic.1392)
I could honestly see a lot of weapons added to ranger. Staff is the main one, a lot of the skills give it a fairly shamanistic feel so it wouldn’t be too far off.
GS isn’t really much more “ferocious” than Sword. I mean Sword is pretty in your face. As for Axe OH. Path of Scars is great but actually getting it to hit twice is next to impossible.
I’m using one of the EU better WvW guilds builds, slightly modified. They use 0/10/30/30/0 but I’ve found trait IV in Arms to not be worth it running solo or not in strictly a guild group that can capitalize off of it. I’m going 10/0/30/30 with Death from Above in Strength; in Defense Dogged March and Last Stand are a must, the final one can be Merciless Hammer or Defy Pain. Tactics I’m using Empower Allies since Leg-Specialist isn’t as good anymore, Shrug it Off, and Vigorous Shouts. As for gear I’m running Berserker weapons, Soldier armor with 6 Superior Runes of the Soldier (they laughed at Runes of Melandru), trinkets are Ascended Berserker back piece, amulet and rings are the Berserker with +18 to Vit, and earrings are exotic berserker. I went to Rata Sum to avoid random buffs in WvW so my stats are looking at.
