It use to be really easy to sell Guild Wars 2 to my friends but …it’s so difficult now.

Everything sounds amazing, but when they start asking about “end gear/content” and I have to explain them it takes a minimum of 12 weeks for 2 accessories, a dedicated 20+ days of dailies and 1 monthly completion for a necklace and 20+ dailies from Fractals (unless you’re lucky with RNG) for 2 rings.

They look at me like “Are you serious?” – It’s a complete turn off and I can’t even defend you, Anet.

The most powerful/credible advertisement is word of mouth. Consider what kind of “words” are coming from our mouths recently.

What I’m saying is, please reconsider how your “gear treadmill” is earned. We understand “exotic’s were too easy to get” but please, this is not the right direction. If Ascended will be apart of Guild Wars 2 forever, add more fun ways to earn them that doesn’t involve a Daily. Maybe that means actually adding challenging content.

TLDR ; Dailies/Weeklies are not a quality way to earn end game gear and it’s NOT quality content. If someone asked me what Guild Wars 2 end game was, I’d tell them Dailies (Dragons, Fractals, Dungeons, Daily daily, Monthly, Guild Missions, etc).

Please go back to the drawing board, Anet.
I love your game but I’m concerned with the direction you’re taking.

+1 to you OP.

I’m all for more difficult content. I hate the gated content they have going on. I also hate how I have to do petty tasks every day in order to have the best gear. No skill involved what-so-ever. This game lacks prestige.

My Opinion on AC - Good job.

I run with a fairly good group. I don’t pug Dungeons because it’s a headache. I’ve had plenty of groups fail in the past with the old AC set up. I expect it to be even worse now.

On that note, I really like the new AC paths, the only boss I “disliked” was the last both @ Detha. Not because it was hard, but because the boss kept bugging out and because he kept attacking Detha, so it was irritating to try and position him. We had to wait until Detha died to get anything done.

What I like

  • You can’t skip the first boss.
  • The bosses HP was lowered, making it feel less like a tank and spank
  • Better mechanics, though you can still skip Kohler. I suggest locking the doors until Kohler is defeated so people can’t skip him.
  • The burrow’s actually spawn an intimidating amount of mobs now.

What I fear

  • It will get nerfed to the ground
  • Pugs can not do this, which will result in nerfing, which in turn will disappoint players like me who enjoyed the challenge.

The dungeon actually required some type of coordination, which is why I think pugs or bad players will fail. But if this is your PVE endgame, then you’re heading in the right direction in terms of revamping boss mechanics.

Overall, the Dungeon feels less sugarcoated and a snooze fest or a place for quick gold (next to COF P1). I look forward to what Anet does with the other Dungeons in the future.

But you guys are also missing the other points being made, it isn’t going to just be a matter of unlocking these missions, your guild will also require a significant amount of guild members devoted to doing it, the guild bounty for instance is going to require 10 – 15 players all representing and all online at the same time – for a large or medium active guild, that isn’t a problem. But for all the small guilds, small casual guilds – even medium guilds that are not as active – this spells D O O M for them.

Yeah, this wasn’t thought through enough in my opinion. It seems like they were just focusing on large Guilds and thought “oh, small Guilds won’t mind because they can join in on other people’s Guild missions!”

No.

And not because I have a problem spending $15 to play a game. It’s simply because there’s not enough order and balance to justify the $15.

Everything from a lack of Cosmetics/Skin variety, Legendary Precursor’s being the way they are, WvW Culling, lack of WvW Rewards and incentives, Zergy gameplay, lack of class balancing and the amount of “fluff” holiday content added amongst the other mountain of issues. /deep breath

But other than that, it was an enjoyable and worthy sixty dollar purchase and I look forward to seeing what happens in the future. It has a long way to go.

Take this into consideration.

Other games: You need 23+ other guild members to get the end all be all of gear and it takes 4-6 months to fully deck yourself out.

Guild Wars 2: End game content can be done solo without the need of 23+ other guild members to get the gear. It takes 4-6 months to deck yourself out.

I said deck yourself out, not your entire account out. You shouldn’t be able to deck an entire account out in 4-6 months of game play because otherwise companies will lose money. While you might be able to get some pieces in other games you won’t be able to deck more than one fully out unless your guild is led by idiots or it has really kitteny loot drops.

I love this game for the simple fact, I don’t need 23+ other idiots to get the gear I want. I don’t fight over it with a DKP system or lose because of some stupid RnG. I earn it by completing dailies/monthlies, doing guild missions, and no I am not fully decked out in ascended gear and won’t be for a long time.

The biggest selling point of this game is you aren’t fighting 23+ people for the loot you earn. Note: I take 23+ as this is a normal raid system in most other online games. This has been brought down to 10+, but you do not receive the end all be all gear of a game with that little people.

It didn’t take me long at all to gear my character’s out from Raiding because I’ve always been in exceptional Raiding Guilds in most MMOs. DKP isn’t the only system, either.

In addition, it was fun to gear out my character because I was progressing in something. I felt accomplished afterwords and I enjoy being challenged. Those 24 or 9 other idiots became friends. I don’t care for solo play in a massively multiplayer online game. I’ve never bothered with dailies before Guild Wars 2.

I just wish they had an option for players like you and then for players like me. I don’t feel challenged, mentally stimulated or accomplished for doing Dailies for my end game gear. Where’s option B?

I guess we have different views on the subject.

Srsly, why do ppl complain so much about the dailies or monthly???

Nobody forces you to do it! If you dont like to do it just dont!

And btw, I get my dailies without thinking about doing them. Today I did one run of fractals plus JP in EB and voila, the daily was done! And I did those 2 instances cause I enjoy it. NOT because of getting the daily.

Enjoy your game, the rest will follow :-)

I’m sorry but I find the line “you don’t have to do them” an incredibly weak argument.

If you want end game gear, you have to do them. Anet wants you to do them and they encourage you to do them by taunting you with pretty shiny things that make your character stronger.

I am in no way saying Dailies are hard. I’m saying dailies is a horrible way to earn your end game gear.

I mean, do you really think Dailies is the best way to earn your end game gear? Yes/No?

As a girl, I have to agree. I play a class with Medium armor and the medium armor is the worst offender of them all! I’m not asking for Tera skimpy, I just want form-fitting clothing. A lot of the medium armor consists of Trench coats and I hate them so, so much.

No emotional attachment to pets

Nurse.1085

I feel 0 attachment to my pets. Here’s why :

  • 1. I didn’t work to get them. I didn’t camp 5 hours for a rare spawn, I didn’t go through any type of process to tame it. I didn’t complete a quest line. I didn’t do anything. It was handed to me, thus I do not appreciate it.
  • 2. A lot of the pets are not attractive looking or cool looking. There are no “special” pets. Everyone has access to everything. I’m not asking for awesome new pet skills for “special looking pets.” What I’m looking for is for them to be treated the same way Armor is. It’s all about the looks. (PS: I miss it when people ran up to me and said “Woah! Cool pet. Where did you tame him?”)
  • 3. Only a few pets are viable because the rest die so easily. Even if I’m attached to my Feline type pet, it wouldn’t matter because he will die too quickly.
  • 4. It’s encouraged to change pets. Every 30 seconds, I’m swapping my pets. Why become emotionally attached to something when I can’t even use him on a regular basis?
  • 5. Pets feel more like a burden than a companion. I have no way to heal him, I have no way to utilize all of his pet bar skills (who’s idea was that?), I have no way of naming him, I have no way of training him past Juvenile. He’s just there. By my side for 30 seconds. No name, no significant value, no place in my virtual Ranger’s heart.

The only people being handed anything on a silver platter are the big guilds, IE YOU. The small guilds have to work far harder to gain influence for upgrades. What should have been done is influence costs scaling based on the number of players in the guild. That way the big and small guilds would have to put in the same amount of effort.

BAM!11!!1!!!
That’s the sound the Hammer made when you hit the nail on the head.

On that note, I’m in 2 Guilds. A small 10 man Guild and a Guild with 60+ players on. The 10 man has about 5k influence after saving (for the past few days), the 60+ player guild has OVER 40K.

It’s obviously more efficient to zerg in every aspect of this game. Now guilds.

I really hope Anet acknowledges the fact that they messed up with Precursor’s and don’t require the same “RNG” when they implement Legendary Armor.

A Precursor shouldn’t be forged by random luck and money. It should’ve had a story, a quest line or something that would’ve gave it more depth.

It’s a shame they decided to take such a shallow route.

Not because I have to. Because I want to. Because I enjoy doing so. The moment…the exact millisecond gearing my characters ceases to be fun is the exact millisecond I’ll stop bothering.

Okay, fair enough.

Now consider that, like you, there are others out there who want to obtain the best gear they can.

Would you like to explain why they should have to submit themselves to a boring grind for it? Why the pursuit of the best gear can’t be both challenging and enjoyable?

People begged and pleaded for a gear grind in this game. Ascended is for those people.

Exotics are there for the people who don’t want to grind for their gear.

If you want Ascended then you’ll just have to grind for it like everyone else who wants it.

Would you prefer paying $15 a month to have one attempt a week at a boss that may not even drop your desired gear piece, which you still have to win the /roll against other players in the group? Or, play freely with a guarantee based on time, on when you get your BiS gear without the influence of RNG?

If those kinds of gates weren’t there, we would be back at square one, people complaining that BiS gear is too easy to get (exotics). That’s just the way it is.

I don’t think it’s as black and white as you’re making it sound. It doesn’t have to be “dailies or $15/mo for raids” – It can be so much more creative and innovative than that.

When people asked for gear progression, I don’t think those people ever intended it to be the way it is now. I’m sure those same people are crying “What were you thinking Anet!?” – Maybe it was bad communication between the community and Anet.

Also, as far as I know and if my memory serves me correctly, Anet said they always intended to add Ascended gear. Thus, it probably has nothing to do with people “wanting” gear progression to begin with.

It just feels like overall poor implementation. I wouldn’t mind if Ascended could be crafted or earned through other means in addition to what we have now. If Ascended stays off the Trading Post, it will never be as common as Exotics.

Right now, it’s nearly impossible to gear more than one character in Ascended. For someone like me with various 80s, you can understand how that can be frustrating.

=\ I just hope in the future they’ll be more creative.

Disappointed.

so why can’t i get these from wvw? 3 months and counting….

you are getting update to WvW in a week…

Ascended gear has no place in WvW… who’s gonna cast agony? Really?

The WvW update was pushed back to March.

In addition, if you haven’t noticed, there are new “Infusion” slots that give you + stats (+Healing, Power, Crit, 20% Magic Find, 20% Gold from Mobs, etc) that you can slot into the Ascended gear now. They’re equivalent to “Jewelcrafting Gems” from World of Warcraft that you slot into your gear on top of the bonus stats they already give you over Exotics + Exquisite Jewels.

Thus, it’s literally an upgraded piece for all aspects of the game. Not just Fractals.

Yes

  • I want to check if they’re wearing MF gear in a L20+ Fractal.
  • I want to check how much Agony resistance they really have.

Would I use this feature to judge other player’s? : No.
Would I use this feature to kick player’s if they didn’t use the “most optimal” gear?: No.

Why not? : Because I’m more curious as to where that person is in terms of gear level. I want to know if I’m running with a MF leecher, a guy with 0 resistance, a glass cannon Thief in all Greens, etc. If you’re a good player who’s honest, you have nothing to worry about.

If anything, I think an Inspection option would encourage more honesty about your character and your intentions (ie: getting carried, you want more fat lewt, etc).

PS: Inspecting someone’s gear does not include inspecting their Traits/Spec. I don’t believe the OP said anything about Trait inspecting? He only mentioned Gear Inspecting. Not sure where everyone is going with “ermahgawd he’s going to judge my build!” – As far as I’m concerned, your “build” would consist of both gear setup and trait setup.

I see this is a hot topic.
I agree with rangers need more attention. I always get teased because i play and enjoy my ranger. would be nice if people would welcome rangers into wvw, dungeons, etc.

Same here. Not by strangers, but by the people I play with (jokingly, not to be mean). My group of friends consist of a Guardian, Thief, Elementalist, Warrior and Mesmer so they chuckle at me when I play my Ranger. When we do group fights in WvW, we usually target the Profession’s with the least “escape/oh-crap” buttons, which is normally the Engineer/Ranger/Necro because we know we can pin them down.

My biggest problem with my Ranger is the fact that a lot of the time I get Out of Range, Miss, Obstructed for NO REASON. It’s frustrating trying to land Longbow hits and I’m being told I’m out of range even though I’m within 1100 range (and spec’d for 1500).

Also, channeling Rapid Fire for FIVE SECONDS is a joke in PVP. The only good that comes from it is tracking down thieves temporarily.

It really doesn’t matter, the only way I can see that 13% damage actually mattering is if you find yourself in a 1v1 in WvWvW when you have full exotic with berzerkers gear and your opponent having full ascended exotic gear, see how exact that scenario is? Let’s take this to pve, we’ve been wrecking mobs with masterwork items. Ascended only really matters in dungeons. In summary, you don’t even need Ascended. 13% damage? What are you trying to have a spree of 1v1’s in WvW? Do you suck at killing NPC enemies? They simply aren’t needed and if you don’t like how you acquire them then don’t buy them because I cannot stress enough, in most cases they aren’t needed

Then they shouldn’t be in the game at all.

Neither should legendaries in that case but they are as well. They offer slightly better stats than max exotics, so in theory everyone who doesn’t have a legendary should die right? Anyone who has a legendary are by far the superior dps people, you can’t survive the Cursed Shore either unless you have legendary weapons. And seeing as how like 10% of the population has legendaries, the high level areas like the Cursed Shore should be riddled with blue x’s. Legendaries are in the game for their aesthetics, not their stats. Ascended gear is in the game now for agony resistance. Like I said this is one of those only times where it matters, but other than that, it doesn’t matter, that’s just Anet giving them purpose finally. Hell, being a sylvari offers no significant gameplay from a human so they shouldn’t be in the game either. That’s your logic. Quaggan backpacks, I was fine without em, and now that they are here, still not noticing a difference in gameplay. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be there, they are there for those who want them. If you don’t want them then that’s ok just don’t make a fuss over it. Q

Sorry but comparing a Legendary with Exotic stats doesn’t really compare to an Ascended piece with increased stats. For the record, Legendary’s don’t have higher stats (but they will be bumped up to Ascended stats once Ascended Weapons release).

You’re comparing COSMETIC items to items with HIGHER STATS (Ascended). Your argument doesn’t work.

Will open world PVP servers be considered?

in PvP

Posted by: Nurse.1085

Nurse.1085

I’d love an open world PVP server.

Why it’d be fun as hell :

  • No pressure. No objectives, just relaxed good ol’ PVP.
  • Dueling!
  • Guild vs. Guild, even Guild’s on your own home server!
  • No zerging (atleast very minimal)
  • No zerging means no culling
  • No score keeping system
  • You can “guest” to the server, which means no strings attached. Just fun times.
  • You’re not separated by a barrier or a 3 server limiter. Sorry, but fighting the same servers week after week gets stale.
  • Larger maps, which means wondering fun!

But I doubt they would ever add it. WvW is full of zerging, I think an Open World PVP Server would take away from the WvW playerbase because let’s face it, Open World PVP would be more fun and relaxed. Meh, atleast in my opinion. I’d drop WvW like a hot box of rocks if they added an Open world PVP server.

Should Rangers be tied to their pets?

in Ranger

Posted by: Nurse.1085

Nurse.1085

@Krojack
On the contrary, “stowing” it is actually helping us and fixing a lot of issues that fixing the Pet AI won’t fix. For example, it’d help against multiple AOE/PVE Boss fights in addition to it helping in WVWVW. There’s so many situations where a pet is just a nuisance regardless of it’s broken AI that having a “Stow” mechanic would fix those problems.

I agree that the Pet AI needs fixing no matter what, but again, it won’t solve our other problems.

And to answer your question, you can always use your pet. If you want to use a pet, use it. If I don’t want to use a pet, give me the option. No one’s trying to take your pet away from you. I don’t even know how you came to that conclusion. =\

Nurse.1085

You guys yet haven’t understood that Anet is purposely releasing new gear piece-by-piece and with time-based limits because they don’t want people to get it all at once?

It’s how GW2 works.
This month you get the new ring, the next you get the new sword, etc.
If you can’t stand that you can’t just grind the hell out of the game to unhealthy levels to get everything asap and then quit, either consider a change of mentality or change game.

I’m glad you brought up the psychological dimension but I’ll part ways with you now. I believe possibly the worst aspect of GW2’s grind is how it affects you psychologically. Let me explain. WoW’s grind was the product of many years experience. It was straightforward. The likely length of the grind was known. And, the path to the gear was laid out for you. All you needed to do was hop on the treadmill and get that thing rolling. There were different levels where people hopped off. Some took it to the heroic raids and absolute top level gear. For me pieces from LFR raids, a few from normal raids, and then valor gear to round it out was fine. There came a point with each tier that I was done and I…RELAXED. That’s it; I relaxed. Then I did dailies, gathered and crafted to keep a set of gear on the AH (TP), helped out family and guildies, did content for fun, and fished.

Consider GW2. When I came to GW2 I immediately relaxed. There was no grind for gear post max level. I was having the MMO time of my life. I could play relaxed all the time. Then 11/15 came and went and we were left to try to figure out Ascended gear. Anet eventually made it clear in the AMA that we were to have vertical progression going forward in GW2. Well, being a somewhat experienced gamer I knew what vertical progression was. It’s the game element that creates a gear grind to give players a sense of progression and, supposedly, keep them playing the game. We were promised that the power curve would be low—we would have a slow grind. But, what does that mean? It means that the grind is never over. There is a sword hanging over your head every day you play called the daily (the path to the shinies) and you can never relax and just play.

Bottom line, WoW has a humane grind with an endpoint (in each tier) where the player can relax and just play. In GW2, the grind is unrelenting. It never goes away. Looking honestly at the two methods of grinding, I would say Anet’s version is the less psychologically ‘healthful’ of the two.

Love this post. It hits the nail on the head.

I prefer WoW’s grinding philosphy because it was about my own skill and my group’s skill/coordination. Not to mention it was about how much time and effort I wanted to put into it. If my Guild and I were really good, we can gear out faster thus the pain is over more quickly. We can relax.

Guild Wars 2 grind requires dailies and it has a set timer on it. There’s only one way to get Ascended gear and it’s through a painful, long, slow and boring grind. It’s not about how good I am, it’s just about tokens. Tokens, tokens, tokens. And lots of them. I can’t speed or slow down the process, it’s in the hands of Dailies. I would like to add that I didn’t mind the way Fractal Ring’s were earned, but it’s still sad it all came down to a Daily RNG in the end.

Guild Wars 2 is really bad at this gear grind thing, probably because they’re so inexperienced (Guild Wars 1 had nothing like this). I think they need to start plucking a page from a Traditional MMO’s book since this new “innervated” treadmill philosophy is not working.

Out of End Game? Create a never-ending game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nurse.1085

Nurse.1085

Just throwing this in here.

The only reason I want GW2 to implement Raids (WITHOUT the gear grind) is because GW2 has the perfect system set up for it. 10 Man Raids could give guilds something to aim for and do together. It could drop prestigious looking armor and reward unique Titles and weapon skins. There could also be achievements. Not only that, but a Raid in GW2 wouldn’t become out dated, you’d have a steady growing amount of Raids that will always be desirable. A Raid released in July of 2013 will not be outdated by June of 2014.

Seems a shame that GW2 doesn’t take advantage of that. I’d love to have more difficult boss encounters with a controlled number of players (on a larger scale than Dungeons). If Tier 1 of difficulty is World Events, Tier 2 of difficulty is Explorable Dungeons, Tier 3 being Fractals, then Raids would be TIer 4 on the difficulty scale.

Lastly, there aren’t enough prestigious armor sets. The only thing I can think of is the Tier 3 Racial Armor, but that’s bought with money and not skill / team work. I want unique looking armor for doing awesome things, not how fat my wallet is. Though based on this update, I believe I saw icons for Armor sets as a reward for doing World Events. That’s a start, but World Events are so easy, if anything it’s just going to turn into a common grind. Not to mention if World Events are too hard, then zergs don’t want to do them. God, I wish GW2 had Raids. There’s nothing challenging in this game in terms of PVE.

I did not like how much money and reputation went into getting “cool cosmetic sets” in GW1. Sometime’s it felt more about how much money you had more than anything. I felt like I was grinding more in GW1 than I am in GW2 in that regard.

I like GW2’s system better (how it’s earned through Dungeons, etc), but I believe they messed up with Fractals. Ascended would be better if people had a variety ways of earning it, rather than just Fractals and dailies. I don’t believe it should be sold on the TP though, to stop the inflation of gear like Exotics. It should be earned personally to make it less about money and grinding money.

What I want : I wish GW2 had as many nice looking cosmetic options as GW1. Even as a “hardcore” player (someone who plays a lot, a devoted “Raider” in other MMOs), I never wanted a gear grind. Ever. What I wanted was better looking armor sets and weapons. Things that were considered “prestigious” and I wanted harder content to challenge my group. Not to mention more cosmetic rewards for WvW. Overall, for a “cosmetic” game, it lacks in cosmetics and variety (take a look at Medium armor, blegh)

Do I consider GW2 a grindy game? No. Not at all. Especially in comparison to a traditional MMO. The only thing I find “grindy” in GW2 is getting a Legendary. If they fixed the way Ascended is earned, it’ll be a lot better (just in my opinion).

I use to say “Rangers will get their day. They will!” – I’m not so sure anymore.

Say Goodbye to Pugs

This is how the majority of other games do this. I mean, GW2 was the first MMO I’ve seen where it was acceptable to die, runback, die, runback without disengaging the boss/battle.

Even in GW1, if you died on a mission, you had to start over.

Should Rangers be tied to their pets?

@Krojack
So, because you don’t like something, there shouldn’t even be an option for the people who hate it? Listen, they’re not going to fix the pet AI for a very long time because

1) They only have 2 people working on class balance, God knows how many people they have working on Core issues. Pet AI is a core fix, not a simple “Ranger only” fix. All pets / minions are that silly.
2) There hasn’t even been attempts at pet AI fixes since Beta (I believe?). Do you really think you’re going to start seeing them anytime soon? Probably within the same patch that they buff Signets and Spirits. Oh wait…
3) In situations like WvWvW when you’re guarding a keep, your pet is worthless and will die to simple AOES. Having a Stow option for DPS boost (for example) will help you.

^ Honestly though, I hope Anet proves me wrong.

Also, I can’t roll an Engineer. I love bows, they don’t even use one. I did however roll a Thief, but I liked the general idea of a Ranger more (I believe they were described as “unparalleled archers” – which ironically is missing the word “bad” inbetween “unparalleled” and “archers”)

I’m thrilled about the new dungeon, about the slight vertical progression of gear. We’re not talking about 100+ stat upgrades, we’re probably going to be looking at minor stat upgrades (ie: Rare stats to Exotic). I doubt they’ll let it become as bloated as World of Warcraft. Everyone seems to be overly dramatic about what the future holds. The game is still a baby, a year from now people won’t even think twice about this change.

Anyways, as a PVE player, I’m bored with GW2’s PVE progression system. I have 4 80s, all with exotic gear and I’m not quite sure what to do with myself when I log in (WvWvW bores me, SPVP feels imbalanced). I have full Arah gear and none of the dungeons are challenging and the rewards from chests are terrible.

I’m happy they’re doing this. I’m not a casual player and I feel like up until now, the PVE has been geared towards casuals with no real longevity.

Pet names still not saving?

It’s everyone.

You’ll notice you still have a lot of the bugs you saw since launch. Not much has changed.

- Your arrow projectile speed is 30% faster
- Your underwater combat hits harder
- Your Signet of the Hunt gives 25% speed (as opposed to 10%)
- Your pet has a little bit of an easier time hitting moving targets.
- Your Shortbow auto attack got nerfed

That’s about all the significant changes since launch. A lot of tooltip typos have been fixed lol. Supposedly a big update is coming in January though. So yay.

Fixing the Ranger

I agree. Right now my 80 Ranger is on the back burner right now. I’m really kitten off I put it in full exotic gear. It was my second character and I intended it to be pure PVE DPS (my first 80 was a Support Ele). Unfortunately though, it’s done nothing but kitten me off.

- My Rapid Fire’s hit for “Obstructed” 90% of the time.
- My pet is kitten and is dead 95% of the time in Dungeons, even when I manage/swap them on a regular basis. Most of the time I don’t send them in because it’s too dangerous and they’ll just die.
- Spirits are garbage.
- Greatsword damage doesn’t justify being in Melee range.
- 1h Sword locks me in place with it’s auto attack, making it difficult to dodge/stop.
- Longbow’s damage doesn’t justify it’s 1000+ placement requirement. It hits for ‘Obstructed’ regardless and is out DPS’d by the Shortbow with no min/max range requirement.
- My damage is split with my pet, whom is dead. A lot. The only place where my pet is useful is while leveling, otherwise it’s only a nuisance. I don’t feel “as one” with it, I just want it to go the kitten away. Worst part? I can’t even stow it.

Stopped playing already ?

LIST OF ALL SUGGESTIONS IN THIS POST
I only included the ones with a confirmed chest.

May have forgotten some, I’m still combing through the posts.

I went through my list again. I did most of the Events again today and I’ve concluded (in my opinion) that it can’t be from a Mini Dungeon. It won’t be from a Splended Chest either, since they’re small and common.

My best guesses would be most likely any of these (listed from rarest to most common imo) :

  • Taidha Covington
  • Fire Elemental
  • Megadestroyer
  • Zho’qafa Catacombs
  • Shadow Behemoth (Most common, farmed on average)

Taidha Covington was a ghost town, even on Tarnished Coast. The people who did show up weren’t even 80. As a result, it technically has the best setup for a rare event that’s hardly exposed to level 80s. It has no “dragon timers” and there’s nothing for 80s in Bloodtide Coast, so not many people pass by.

Where is the Missing Ascended Gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nurse.1085

There NEEDS to be a healing option.

I don’t want to hear “there’s no trinity” or “they excluded it because people were looking for certain classes” ; That’s not a healing power issue, that’s a class balance issue.

Anet has barely touched class balancing. Anyone and everyone should have access to healing power, in addition to the other missing stats combos in the vendor. Removing Healing Power as an excuse to “balance” would be the most ghetto fix I’ve ever heard of. I have faith that is not the reason.

Besides, these stats such as Cleric were here before Ascended, Giver’s, or any other new stat combination. Thus, the older stat combinations should have been available by default for Ascended gear.

POLL: Would you like level cap to be raised?

No. I’d rather they add even MORE 80 content and new ideas/designs.

I want it to be like Guild Wars 1. Hit max level and have 9723984739284 things to do.

Do you WvW? If not, what's stopping you?

The usual what is known for ages now:
Thief class, culling, nightcapping, lack of rewards, small maps, no variety, lack of ladders etc etc…..oh most important: the developer thinks we dont exist atall.

This.

Agreed. I use Axe offhand and I don’t get how #5 is suppose to be viable if we can’t move while using it. =\ Especially since we have to be in melee range for it’s full effect.

Guardians – Longbow
Warrior – 2H Axe (but otherwise nothing else because they have so many options as is)
Ranger – Rifle
Engineer – 2h Hammer
Thieves – Offhand Sword (I don’t get why they can’t dual wield these to begin with, yet a Mesmer can)
Mesmer – Mainhand Pistol
Necromancer – Greatsword
Elementalist – Torch (I thought it was weird they couldn’t use one to begin with. You know…since they have fire on hand)

@ The Blackgate guild RCR and all of those exploiting this stupid bug but seriously? Seriously? Culling isn’t enough?

This isn’t just for them either, but it’s for all the people and guilds that take advantage of an unintended mechanic for their advantage. For shame.

The Ascended armor is a rewards for completing very difficult paths of the new dungeon.

It will NOT be required to do the previous dungeons, it’s only a stat boost because THE DUNGEON GETS HARDER. Thus, you get better gear rewards. Why? Because how are you expected to complete such harder content with gear that wasn’t balanced for the content that they’re creating now? I doubt their intent was to ever make the PVE this difficult, but they wanted to appeal to the hardcore PVErs and since so many complained it wasn’t hard enough. Which it wasn’t.

Yes, they could technically give you artificial “buffs” the farther you progress in the new dungeon. But how many would complain “lack luster rewards for beating the hardest dungeon?”

I mean, don’t even worry about it. I doubt 70% of the people posting in this thread will even see the end of the hardest route. Then the complaints will be “it’s too hard, we can’t get max gear!”

In my view, the Trinity Needs to Come Back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nurse.1085

I’m personally a Healer in every game that I play. GW2 is a nice breath of fresh air but the lack of trinity makes pve really boring for me. I’m waiting for Elder Scrolls Online for this reason. I miss healing, having a true UI and nameplates. The idea of no trinity works for GW2 and it’s player base and I thought it would for me too, but I’ve had a change of heart. I’ll keep playing though for sure, but this game won’t be my main MMO.

Maybe it’s because GW2’s way of handling it was poor in terms of difficultly. Their idea of harder higher fractals is adding more mobs rather than new mechanics. Lame. I would love it if they added raids like the World bosses since they feel so epic. But for some reason they’re so hard against them, yet they add Fractals with a new tier of gear? bleh.
