Very dissatisfied with PvP, particularly this season 2.

Nobody likes to to lose, and it’s the way in which one loses that makes it most unpleasant;

1) Close games are almost non existent. It’s either 639 vs 25 loss, or vice versa.
2) Endless losing streaks obliterate any feeling of progression.
3) An uncanny (deliberate?) system of “win 1, lose 1, win 1, lose 1” (when not in a losing streak) This is even more frustrating than #2.
4) Balance issues; there are a few classes/builds with overpowered damage combos or invulnerabilities.

I’ll continue to play because I’m after the wings, but continuing on for fun, I am most certainly not.

TLDR; Season 2 is an incredibly kittening unpleasant experience.

Allowing players to log and change classes after the teams have been chosen is the easiest way to game this match making system. I dont think it will be as infrequent as you think it will be.

Lock out class changes and be done with it. As you say then MMR can be class specific instead of account specific which will greatly help matchmaking and encourage players to test new classes.

1. Use Vault or CnD+BS on an appropriate timer (5 and 6s to maintain initiative), Steal and utils, then AA.

Edit: also, dodge ~ every 4s for Bound or Lotus bonus, and use DB for a condi build ~ 4s.

2. DD is superior due to Havoc Master and Bound

3. Power build, take Impact Strike and Fist Flurry for break bars. Condi build, share Basilisk, and use either Needle Trap plus trap on heal, or Impairing Daggers depending on your build.

It sounds like you want profession-specific MMR? In order to do that, we would have to enforce a profession lock upon queuing. There is another thread advocating this idea with the benefit of removing profession stacking.

I have seen a lot of people either asking on the forums or posting in LA on whether to sell the encryptions on the TP or open them with Keys purchased from the Vender in the Mistlock Observatory. Current Wisdom is that you should open the encryptions with your daily keys and sell all extra encryptions on the Tp. That is completely false. It depends on what type of key you are using to open the encryption.

There are 5 different types of keys: Ones from Dailies, Deeply discounted keys bought from a vendor for 20silver, discounted keys bought for 25s, regularly priced keys bought for 30s, and keys from converting stabilizing matrices. For the purposes of this analysis, I will ignore any fractal relic cost, assume that the account bound recipes or items gain the player no money, assume that keys from stabilizing matrices cost the same as those from regularly priced keys, assume today’s prices on the tp and current fractal research listed on this reddit and the wiki is reasonably accurate.

The first step is calculating how much money you are expected to gain from opening a box. Current Research shows you gain 34s54b (or 34 silver 54 bronze) on average from the venderable trash in a box. In addition, you can put another 2s28b on top from the +1 agony infusions, t5 mats, and other sellable items you get from opening the encryption, the total average value contained in a box is 36s81b. In addition, you have a 10% chance when you open a Cracked Fractal Encryption (here after referred to as a chest) of getting an additional fractal key.

The main question is at what tp price it is more profitable to sell the encryptions than open them. I will consider the different cases of daily keys (free), deeply discounted keys (20s per), discounted keys (25s per), and regularly priced keys (30s per) based only on the venderable trash dropped on average trash plus the assumed average value of +1 Agony Infusions, t5 mats, and other sellable items.

Daily keys: On average, you will make 36s81b off these keys as they cost you nothing. Including the Tp tax of 15% (5% listing fee and 10% selling fee), the encryptions would need to be selling for at least 48s12b (which equals 45s/(.85*.9)=Sell Price/(Tax*chance at an extra Key)) on the tp for it to be worth selling the encryptions over what you would make by just opening the boxes with a key.

Deeply Discounted Keys: On average, you will make 16s81b by opening encryptions with deeply discounted keys. Similarly to the daily keys, the encryptions would have to be selling for over 21s98b for it to be more profitable to list the encryptions on the TP than opening them with deeply discounted keys.

Discounted Keys: On average, you will make 11s81b by opening encryptions with discounted keys. Similarly to the daily keys, the encryptions would have to be selling for over 15s44b for it to be more profitable to list then encryptions on the TP than opening them with discounted keys.

Regularly Priced Keys: On average, you will make 6s81b by opening encryptions with discounted keys. Similarly to the daily keys, the encryptions would have to be selling for over 8s91b for it to be more profitable to list the encryptions on the TP than opening them with discounted keys.

So in conclusion, it is:
1) Always more profitable to use the keys earned from the dailies to open your encryptions.
2) When using deeply discounted keys, it depends on a large number of factors including the current price of fractal encryptions, cost of the +1 agony infusions, cost of the t5 mats, and Lady Luck. Right now, encryptions are selling for 21s56b and being bought for 19s53b, so it would be marginally worth it to open the keys rather than sell them on the tp.
3) When using discounted Keys and regularly priced keys, it is better to just sell the encryptions unless the encryptions crater below 15s on the tp.
My personal habit is to buy up all the deeply discounted key each day and once a week go through a f40 farm to gain enough encryptions to use up all my extra keys.

Let’s not give any care to what exploit actually means but rather generate a lot of buzz for this rant/complaint/suggestion we have.

Please stop with this argument. It’s just not true.

Since day one a LOT of players gave insightful feedback of what was broken-OP and what was under-par about the thief class, without resorting to insult or arrogant behaviour.

No dev gave a kitten about that. So there comes a time when the patience is over, and NOT due to playerbase’s fault.

And perhaps you’re right, but negativity sure as he’ll isn’t going to help us anymore than we are right now (and we aren’t)

If the devs are withholding support and development of the game on the basis of our “attitudes,” then they’re idiots. Are you suggesting that “if we behave” daddy will reward us?

No I’m suggesting that if daddy is harassed by all of your siblings for the same things instead of you harassing each other, then daddy may listen. But if daddy hears you arguing, he won’t know what the hell needs attention.

Generally people do not start off negative but over time will get there when resolution is not met by a service provider.

In the case of a MMO we’ve witnessed tons of positive feedback and suggestions go ignored for years. This is happening in ALL phases of the game and classes btw. After awhile people will stop being nice and it’s the developers job to be understanding in this. Unfortunately I’ve seen some alarming behaviors from this team.

So you cant really fault players who’ve done it the correct way for years who finally lose their cool. You need to blame the source.

This. Arenanet is exceptionally bad at responding to feedback in any way whatsoever, particularly when it comes to class balance. I’m not sure if it has to do with the balance people themselves or if it comes from somewhere in management, but Karl’s presence on these forums is way, way, way less than it should be.

Something like this should have been addressed months ago.

“Elite content” leads to “elitist behavior.” I’ve seen it in every game I’ve played. It’s not wrong, it’s not bad, it just is. The real challenge is for groups (guilds, in this case) to learn to be ok with it. Most never do. In a different game, I was a member of an amazingly tight-knit, fun, cohesive guild, and raiding tore us apart. It happens.

While I’m glad to see Dishonor finally implemented in some form, I’m confused as to why the vast majority of the profession changes today consisted only of “reducing visual noise” or fixing situational bugs. The game plan that Anet outlined prior to HoT’s release consisted of having a major balance patch two weeks before the start of each season, and then making adjustments to the developing meta in the time before the competition began.

We seem to have skipped the major balance patch, so what does this mean for the time leading up to the start of the first PvP season? Are there still going to be adjustments made in the next two weeks to the meta that’s developed since launch, or is this the final draft for balance this cycle? Are we not going to see any changes to any of the elite specs, underpowered professions, or other problem builds for another three months?

Most of the community seemed to be expecting major changes today, since this aligned with the schedule Anet laid out for us, and there was no developer communication indicating that plans for the balance schedule had shifted (or that they were skipping the balance changes this time around). Could we please have some sort of update regarding the plans for this? Right now, this doesn’t seem to bode well for the future of PvP balance, and I think it’s important that the community not be left completely in the dark about PvP development in the upcoming weeks/months. Communication leading up to HoT’s release had been excellent and had the community in good spirits, and I’d hate to see that disappear again in the future.

News flash: DPS checks are also defense checks. If you have to go full glass to beat an enrage timer what do you suppose that means for your defenses and support? They will be a lot less. it will then be a lot harder to survive and do the DPS. You’ll wipe more. You won’t kill the boss until you get good.

By making the DPS requirement for a boss higher, they can indirectly make the SUPPORT and DEFENSE requirement for a boss harder too.

Many mob attacks were CD-less and weren’t affected by Power Block, so it was used only is a very niche encounters. The trait was quite useful against hard hitting bosses in dungeons where you’d coordinate defiance strips with interrupts. Now with defiance being a break-bar, Power Block got shafted down to the trash level even for those niche encounters – it’s useless.

Unless you’ll be fighting a boss without a break bar (ie Bjarl in CoE) then there is no real point in running the trait.

you wont get an official response because they are probably extremely busy.

PvP potions will not be changed BECAUSE it has no effect on how quickly you gain hero points. That’s it. The change is tried to progression and not rewards.
