It’s 2014, come on we should be able to speak to them in game, just like every other game out there. Nobody wants to type while in combat.
VOIP is intrusive. It’s not always possible to be on VOIP because of what’s going with your surroundings. Not everybody wants to be in a call, especially with potentially annoying or abusive strangers.
Teamspeak exists for a reason, if you need those features, everyone has it. Implementing voice chat into the game seems to be redundant. I remember voice chat being implemented into another MMO that I played, and it was low quality as well as hardly ever used.
So, that’s why I am all for empowering team-wide voice emotes.
This is how I feel about VOIP in-game as well.
Good luck using TeamSpeak in SoloQ

Glory boosters are used to boost glory gain. Coin boosters are used to boost coin gain.
Glory currency is being phased out in favor of coin currency.
Therefore, the logical step is glory boosters being converted into deleted boosters.

i want to press a buttom and talk to my team mates like any other game in 2014
nobody uses those in mmos tbh
I know one MMORPG with this system. It’s Runes of Magic. Once you are in party, you are automatically connected to a dedicated channel on a voice server. The voice server is not the same physical machine as the game server, to avoid lags.
So yes, I want this too. I want to press key and talk to my teammates.

I wish there was party voice chat for dungeons, fractals and spvp.
Just make it voice chat whenever you’re in a party. In an sPvP match it gives precedence to your team over your party.

Largos. Not much is really known about them, so my vote goes to them.
May your steps be relentless.

Highly coordinated in crafting?
Why not?
If there were spread across all the fractals 8 opportunities for advantage based on having a crafting skill of 300 in the party – one for each craft – then maximally optimized teams would plan to bring along characters that cover all 8 bases (and they’d even have 2 slots to spare!). Even if those events didn’t show up in any particular run.
I come to Guildwars 2 from other games that have fairly technical raiding/dungeons They’ve had years more time to develop their body of content. Being able to derive advantage from fairly obscure choices is normal to me. WoW has a raid boss that can only be started by having several expert fishermen lure the boss out of its pool by fishing for it. An example from LotrO:
“The fight is with a great beast and its tamer – but the beast is trained to lie still while the drums are played. If you have a drummer (only one class gets it natively, but other characters can be taught via a rare drop) you can fight the tamer one man down as they drum, and then fight the beast afterwards with your whole party. IF you don’t have a drummer, you must face both bosses at the same time.”
The world of Tyria has more ways of interacting with it than “I hit it.” Using those other mechanics for inspiration can add humor, introduce variety, and create a vibrant, memorable experience – if used well. And some of those ways involve spending time in game doing other things than combat and grinding gold.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

lol epic. What did u back stab? an aircraft carrier?
Judging by the battle log, worse: A Warrior.
I like both ideas, Thedenofsin. I’ve actually been talking with someone in the community about bringing SOTG or something similar back – I hope it works out.
i consider myself casual pver , casual pvper but harcore gw2 player lol. did map completion 5 times going on 6 have 4 legendaries 8 lvl 80 etc… sucks to see that pvp is getting the short stick but i think the game is made to be enjoyed both sides not just pve or pvp but i do understand that others lean to playing one than other. just wish Anet consentrate on one aspect of the game them move on to another like we going to do this pve LS for a month then all resource switch to pvp for a month and so on. this way you are updating both aspect of the game and making the game even stronger and better in a lot of ways. all u do seems like is to increase rank gain in pvp and give pve items along with crappy pvp chest. but yeah although now i just login to do dailys or monthlys i still love gw2, but playing other games atm like DCUO or sins of the solar empire

Ruthless Legend
I like how ANet sets balance patches aside for over three months in favor of Living Story updates and then calls the PvP community “short-sighted”.
That’s just rich.
For the life of me I don’t understand why people allow themselves to be constantly strung along. For pete’s sake they just recently put a collaborative thread about ladders and seasons something they first talked about at least half a year ago. This tells me that development on it has not really started. When does the point come when you start saying I am not going to wait for 9 month-1+ year development cycles for standard features. I quit playing about a month and a half ago and I haven’t been happier. I may come back if and when these far flung promises get implemented. I’m thinking late summer or fall for all of these things to be in at the earliest.

In the balance preview the following changes were listed for thief (after 8 months of eliminating ele and mesmer from the meta on its own):
Thief:
Much like the engineer, we wanted to take this opportunity to tone-down excessive poison stacking through poison fields.
Choking Gas: Reduced the poison per pulse from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
Do you think one change which has no effect whatsoever is sufficient after 5 months of no changes to the most broken class.
The best ranged Thief weapon is Dancing Daggers
And a Thief does more damage than a warrior in Dungeons and Fractals presuming you don’t die.
This reminds me of the time when EU/low tier players were crying about heartseeker/quickness spam while in NA we were (literally) laughing at it.
Though, S/P has never been terrible. A little background: IIRC, there was a point after Steal got nerfed before quickness and trick changes where I played S/P. I was able to win the majority of duels with Caed (the most important part of thief—how well you do against the enemy thief/glass). But when it came to put it into practice, hitting 3x targets with retal (which was like 75% of the time) would kill yourself. So pretty much you were forced to strictly avoid aoe’ing with PW whenever possible unless you had a deathwish. I died 3-5x more often than D/P (I usually died 0-1x/game with D/P) with ~23k+ retaliation dmg at the top every single time.
But, from my understanding, retaliation was nerfed since then only dealing iirc ~33% on 3x retal instead of ~120% hp.
Another contributing factor was the damage of Thief dropped drastically with the Trickery changes. The game is a LOT slower-paced now as opposed to d/x being “all-in”. S/P tends to thrive in these drawn-out fights, resulting in it becoming relatively stronger despite the quickness nerf.
One of the main things though, is the playstyle difference between NA and EU. I used to joke to Caed about how he played too “European” and died 4-5x more often than he should. EU tends to very rarely use their shortbow from my observation, and NA tended to use shortbow the majority of the time, supporting our team and only going in with melee when the opportunity was presented. (An example being how Caed and most other players had trouble against Mesmers while I had no issues by playing defensively with my shortbow)
This was one of the main issues I had when transitioning to the newly buffed S/D. I used shortbow way too much and didn’t have the stealth and burst support from d/p to back it up. Tightening up my animation cancels and dodge frames, it became a non-issue as I completely dropped the shortbow all-together (mainly due to the Sword#2/swap cancel out of combat trick for EXTREME map control on top of energy sigils and quick pockets) and started playing hyper aggressive.
It’s my opinion that this trend still carries on today and since the majority of EU/low tier players tend to rarely leave melee range playing far more aggressive, S/P becomes the more effective set whereas D/P is designed to be more burst/opportunity based mainly utilizing the shortbow.
That’s my theory, at least.

FYI, we don’t think it’s balanced. That’s why we’re still balancing it.
The OP actually makes a good point, though. For this particular feature build, we have not shared much about what’s going on, we get that. Don’t mistake that with we’re not doing much, though.
Thanks for the feedback
Bolded the interesting part. A while back, it was stated by a dev that the team DIDN’T want to wait for feature builds to apply balance, bug fix, and polish updates. That they would apply them when they were needed, and leave the “big patches” for the content updates.
Why has this been thrown into the fire?

break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
Starting today, we have added Bags of Alliance Supplies as a reward for winning PvP matches. Solo Arena winners will get 20 bags, and Team Arena winners will get 40 bags.
Utter lack of communication.
No idea when to expect balance updates. No idea when to expect PvP reward updates.
This has been the problem for over a year.
Regardless, these questions should be addressed by a member of ANET.
Except they really can’t answer them at the moment because they are caught in a lose/lose situation.
When it comes to the new rewards, the real question is how long are we going to be without rewards? That is really what we are asking. In reality, anything over a week will upset people. Over a month will cause a number of people to become upset. Lets face it, if they say May, that means at least 6 weeks without any rewards for pvping. Meanwhile WvW will be rewarded for their server populations. That’s going to upset a good number of the few remaining spvpers. They can’t win here because there should be no downtime for rewards. That is the real issue. That is the reason people keep asking for confirmation that nothing else is happening with the patch.
As for balance, that is a separate team. It is also separate from the pvp update. Yes, it needs to happen. However, it’s just something that’s being added to the conversation to show that players are upset that pvp still has nothing coming.
The questions proposed are a trick to trap the devs into admiting the issue. In reality, we just need them to hold off on the removal of rewards until the new system is ready. Of course we also need spvp updates to actually start happening.
