“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I like Karl!
It#s not a problem the devs can fix.
Seriously, you have that in many other games too + sometimes ppl get really disconnected. And profession check pre-game is useless, unless you would allow ppl to not login using another character after a game pops, which can also be a problem, if queues take to long and ppl get bored on their pvp-only toon …
The only, and most usefull solution is to play teamQ, with a full team.
It would be soo cool if they (Anet) would have a team ladder instead of the current TeamLeaderboard.
Perhaps automated tourneys and boom, there you go problem solved .
Because noone who accepts an invite to a teammatch randomly leaves, or he will leave the team forever.
How is this not a problem the devs can fix? Every other PvP game out there have a system to prevent unbalanced match starts…
They should simply add an “I am ready” button that has to be clicked by all participants within a given time frame. If one or more haven’t clicked they get dishonored and all the other players go back into queue – simple as that.
As for those times where people get disconnected or whatever they should force one of the players from the team with most players to stay in base until one teammate die and then he have to wait. Or simply a volunteer system where no one loses rewards.
These are all basic stuff that GW2 should have had since launch…
I realize it’s been posted a million times, but it would be nice to actually get a response for once in regards to the 4v5 issues. If you’re going to have a leaderboard for PvP then all corner cases should be addressed as a programmer, and this one is not being met.
Please add some sort of system check that does not allow for a game to start as a 4v5. Additionally some sort of forfeit option should be implemented where all team members must agree for the forfeit to actually occur.
We have disabled dishonor for the time being. Upon logging in, your dishonor will be cleared, and no new dishonor stacks will be applied.
Once we are sure any players who received false dishonor have logged in or waited 3 days, we will re-enable the feature.
Yay! it only took 4 months ;D
I hate it when people say this. The devs literally cannot win with this perspective in mind.

I am glad to introduce you to the new Guild Wars 2 build wiki that will hopefully fulfill the same purpose as the old PvXwiki did.
New build wiki: http://metabattle.com/
If you remember I worked on the meta builds website capped metabattle, you can take a look at it here: http://metabattle.com/old/
Most of you liked the idea but it didn’t feel like the old PvX wiki. Some of you wanted that back, others wanted to help by adding/editing builds etc. Those are some of the reasons why I decided to recreate the old PvXwiki for Guild Wars 2. I spent a lot of time on it since it was my first time working with a MediaWiki based script.
Here is a list of what you can do on the current Guild Wars 2 build wiki:
To make this possible we will need help from you guys. Feel free to check out the website, edit and add content so that we can bring back a small part of the old Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2.
There are currently 2 admins, we will need more in the future which means that we will be recruiting admins pretty soon based on the work that needs to be done.
EDIT1: Since we have a “Video Guides” section feel free to add your Youtube video if you are using that build/something similar to it.

Easy fix to Assassin’s Equilibrium.
Completely scrap Last Refuge. Make Assassin’s Equilibrium the Shadow Arts 1-point minor. Make a completely new Acro GM trait that’s worth using.
Funny…I find that I have a pretty strong win % while playing a bunker guard in solo Q.
That being said, I run 0/0/2/6/6 in solo Q instead of an AH build and I primarily use Hammer & Sc/Sh (depending on the map) for the knockbacks.
Just putting out a feeler here – trying to get an idea of how many people want me to make a guide for D/P 2/6/0/0/6
Good luck to everybody! This event is certainly stirring things up, I imagine EU will have an extremely competitive team, but I’m sure this will bring more attention to the competitive side of the game in all regions, at a time where it’s much needed. Would love to play in it if voted for, but I’m sure whoever wins will represent NA well. Throw Five Gauge, Zoose, Zombify and Supcutie votes, all are great well mannered players and have significant community contributions!
Why is blu not just being flown out?
He has done more work than anyone else in the community and deserves it more than anyone. At the same time he is not a top tier player like the others on the list and should not be playing in an “All Stars” competition, he is a caster not a player and we do not want the casting mess that was pax.
Hey all!
I just wanted to post this series of games from last weeks ESL weekly cup with Maybe vs Roms going to Jail/TCG
Really good set here with Maybe showing that they have the stuff to compete for ToL2!
Impressive from both teams in these games!
Enjoy!

These people need to stack the odds by giving the opponent free kills in order to WIN AT HOTJOIN? How bad are they???
Also, you do realise that the win bonus in hotjoin is TINY, and that if you get autobalanced away from the winning team YOU STILL GET IT right?
Of all the problems this game has, I would rank the bushes not being comfortable enough for the outlaw mobs hiding in them in the Kryta starting zone higher than this.
Your missing the point! It ruins a fun fair 5 vs 5 good match not just the win bonus and you get moved from teammates. Pvp hot join is no more than something to join for free rank points rather than to actually play.
There is no such thing as fairness in hotjoin. Closest thing you can come by are soloq/teamq
It has been long since last time i got into hotjoin, and reading this i keep thinking that hotjoin wasnt a good idea, it should really be shut down, and swapped out for a soloQ unranked, that will basically be hotjoin but without the chance to be abused like explained by the O.P.
Plus, an unranked Q will be much better to introduce new player to pvp, cause it should have less raging kids, but will still have the same format you find in ranked matches.
Ofc ranked Qs need an improvement, but this is an old long story.
The event will be livestreamed here on Saturday, June 28th at 11am EST – http://www.twitch.tv/nike_dnt

Third Place: 75g + gem store armor of choice
Fourth Place: 50g + 10 transmutation charges
Fifth through Eight: 30g
The Format
The teams will be paired up before each round for a best of three path contest, and one randomly selected team will have the right to pick which path is run first. Their opponents will pick which path is run second. If a third path is required, Death and Taxes [DnT] will pick a dungeon path. The two teams will begin their dungeon runs simultaneously at an appointed server time, which the runs broadcast live on Twitch.tv. At least one member of each team must be able to live stream the run in order to participate.
The dungeon runs themselves will be regulated and timed according to the http://gwscr.com restricted rule set.
In addition to the Guild Wars Speed Clear Rules, a defeated player may not resurrect at a waypoint, and may not be resurrected by his teammates. Should a player be defeated, the remaining 4 must complete the dungeon. Should the last member of the team be defeated, or point in the dungeon be reached that cannot be completed with the remaining members of a team (i.e. only two members alive for Shaggoth in Arah Path 1 or the Brazier puzzle in Citadel of Flame Path 1) that will be considered a “Wipe.”
As long as the team that is still alive is able to finish the path without wiping, the finishing team will be given the win regardless of time. Should both teams wipe, the game will be considered a draw and will move onto the next path. If both teams wipe in the third path of the match, the team furthest into the dungeon will be considered the winner.
The Teams
Teams will register with 5 members and one optional alternate. The registration will list the account name of each player and the profession that player will be playing. Players must run the same profession they register with throughout the entire course of the tournament. The alternate player can fill in for any player on the team and may play any desired profession.
This will promote a risk reward proposition between an “all around” team composition that can tackle all paths of every dungeon and one designed to sacrifice utility for additional offense. The alternate will allow creative teams to tweak their team compositions to their advantage.
Registration
The tournament will be by invitation only, however we are soliciting for interested guilds or teams. Guilds may fill multiple teams if they have sufficient members. Any interested guilds or teams may register in the registration thread on the Death and Taxes forum. http://dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/13284840-official-dnt-invitational-tournament-registration-thread
The 8 invited teams will be announced on June 21, 2014.
Members of Death and Taxes will be excluded from participation in this tournament.

IMO magi tech looked kinda bulky, as well as those scarlet gauntlets and shoulders
If you are worried about overwhelming new players, why not copy League, another friendly game for new players, by presenting similar information to what we have now, but maybe explained better (why did my team win, why didn’t we win, why did the enemy team win, etc.), and then have separate tabs for more specific breakdowns.
For example, first screen can stay as is on the top, the bottom instead of being some stats about myself, show how each team got its points. Then have a separate tab that shows where I got my points, and also various stats about what each player did (like in League you can see a full chart of damage done, healing done, etc. but only if you want to).
Yep, that’s what “Rotate” means. Being able to “rotate” properly means being able to take the right decisions as to WHEN and WHERE to move during a match.
For istance, if you go close at start and you see an enemy coming, if you are able to kill him you could go mid to help the teamfight instead than staying on close and doing “nothing” there.
I’d say that the ability to “rotate” properly is the only show of “skillful” play in this game, as the amount of hardcounters and braindead specs made the combat part of GW2 completely predictable and easy to play.
Hey everybody,
This Friday on “Ready Up” I’ll be joined by Game Designer Karl McLain and Game Design Lead Jonathan “Chaplan” Sharp for a discussion on balance design philosophy. “What’s that, and why should I care?” you ask? Great question!
We won’t be going over future changes we’re making, but rather discussing the ideas and philosophy that drive balance changes. We’ll also be discussing our vision of what purpose/role each profession serves in relation to another.
To get started, we’d like to ask a few open-ended questions to all of you. In your opinion, what should the strengths and weaknesses of each profession be? What’s your profession’s kryptonite? And remember, no single profession should be the best at everything!
We’ll be reading through your thoughts over the next few days, and we’ll try to address as much as we can on Friday. Feel free to post your thoughts below, but try to keep your replies relatively short (I’d aim for under 300 words).
As a note, the previously announced “State of the Game” episode has been postponed, but rest assured – it will happen!
Thanks all! Let’s keep this constructive.
My most WoW moment. 2 things come to mind. I was playing full zerker ranger on kyhlo and I went and capped home, I promptly got rushed by 4 at the beginning, I stealth off the boxes knowing it isn’t safe. Recognizing they had no thieves, I dropped a quickness barrage -> spider immob -> rapid fire into their trap ranger whose the last to come up the stairs, he tries to heal, I interrupt it and swoop in to get the quickness stomp, while the other 3 try to DPS me down. I made it out with like under 1k health. Felt pretty good.
Other wow moment, was in the BM days, when I played a lb/gs dual raven burst build. I was tanky, but with gs 5 and the raven I could hit people for 10k. So with comboing raven f2 -> pet swap -> gs 5 -> raven f2 I had a solid 15k burst on squishies. I was on clock tower and I 1 v 2’d Caed and O eggs. They were quite upset, granted being able to 1 shot thieves and mesmers with a soldiers amulet was the most OP of all time.
Not really, my wow moment, but a wow moment for the teams I play with. I have a habit of going to solo the lord for the win on foefire. I just don’t communicate it through TS. At the end, I just say, “GG guys” and then everyone’s like, “WTF just happened, oh, we won?”.

not sure if this is the right forum for this but in reference to being able to buy arena time tokens with gold….
I love you.
That is all.
Look. Anet is just doing what the loud forum majority wanted. When people said “dungeons suck because spider queen” they listened. And when we dungeon forum regulars told them this very change was not a solution they called us dumb elitists. Just like the bloodstone dust nerf. You asked. They delivered.
Secondly, I’ve seen Sizer play. I’m not massively impressed with him, but I would say he’s better than your average thief. That being said, just because he plays a build does not mean it belongs to him.
It might not be serious to you people, but this build is my intellectual property. I created it, and to say that Sizer owns it is not only wrong but extremely offensive.
Alright, I’ve watched sizer play for a long time and he has been running this build for a long time now, before the whole S/p craze and now it’s back again due to strength runes.
Honestly if you feel you wholeheartedly own the entire rights to this build that sizer has been playing for quite some time now, fight him. That’s right, fight him for it. If your “not impressed”, fight him. If you created this build so long ago, you must feel you’re better so prove it. I find that as a simple way to dignify it as “your own”.
I do think they should re-work that spell effect. To me, it pretty much ruins shields with how it clips into them, and for a Guardian, that means pretty much that their shields are visually ruined, constantly, when out of combat.
Sure, I can agree on the fact that it is a visual cue, but when an effect pretty much ruins shield-appearances while active, that to me at least, says it is a terrible design. It’s also one of the most obvious cues in the game, with other boons not being as “in your face” as this one. It blocks one attack after all, and it is possible to activate at will as well, meaning your high damage attack can still be blocked even if you were looking for cues.
I’d be fine with the effect being as it is while there’s no shield equipped to the character. But I think it could use an alternative for when there is a shield in place, that isn’t so blatantly clipping and ruining the shield models. It’s one of the things I hate the most about the game. Silly as that may sound to those not sharing my point of view.
Hey so do others agree that they should add an option for people who play Guardians to not show the Aegis effect. It just always having it over my shield is so ugly.
If you purchase the Mistforged version, you will also unlock the Hero’s version.
DPS would like to thank everyone who participated in both the EU and NA Tournament of Legends and would like to offer our congratulations to Apex and TCG for their big wins!
For those of you who do not know us, we originally started as a company known as Mid-Atlantic Kombat which hosted dozens of events up and down the east coast. We’ve grown now into hosting tournaments for other games, changing our name to Digital Professional Sports.
We have been playing Guild Wars 2 as a group since beta and have been playing pvp together as the Bear Cavalry of Legend consistently since release. We participated in last year’s Mistleague and had a blast despite our appalling record. We play every Thursday night from 7-10pm EST, unless real life takes us elsewhere.
When we saw that Blu needed some help running the Tournament of Legends, I messaged him immediately and offered our unconditional assistance. We had actually entered the Tournament of Legends with goals of making it to the sweet 16 but decided to pull out with the hope that our assistance would allow all other teams to play.
This has been an incredibly rewarding experience and although we’re not sure where to go from here, we promise you have not seen the last of DPS! Thanks to Blu and Mistpedia for taking us on, Grouch for the Pizza, ArenaNet for the support, and THANK YOU to the communities of EU and NA for all of the sportsmanship and cooperation we received! The rounds of 64, 32 and 16 could not have gone so fast without you!

Please remove the personal point system in the score board. It only fuels ignorance.
Remove it and put something useful like actual stats.
Physical Damage Done
Condition Damage Done
Overall Damage Done
Healing Done
Healing Received
Interrupts
Resurrections
Damage Received
Damage Blocked
Damage Dodged
Damage Evaded
Dodges
Damage Reflected
Deaths
Points Neutralized
Points Capped
Decaps Prevented
…
Just to name a few.
Currently the point system accomplishes nothing but cultivating foolish behavior.
