Guys we already had information about that. If you didn’t read it, then its on you. The Scavenger hunt is a really really old new. They talked about that, when it was only a idea in a brainstorm.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
In July they talked about a future way to craft precursors thats gonna need a lot of the new ascended material.
But about 1 or 2 months ago Colin Johanson said : ’’As mentioned at the end of the blog, as always things are subject to change as test and prepare various systems. Most of the stuff covered in the blog you’ve already seen implemented, or steps towards being implemented, however the precursor building (and corresponding additional legendary items) is the one highest at risk to not make it this year.
It is still something we absolutely plan to do!’’
So its probably gonna happen in the first half of 2014 and not the end of 2013 like it was originally plan.
I just wanted to say that I’m happy the Flamekissed Set is in the trading post. I’ve always liked the human tier 3, but I play sylvari so I had no chance to get it before. Having as many armor skins to choose from is something that keeps this game fun to me. I like to change armors like I change clothes each day.
I do have a suggestion though.
It would be great if it were possible to dye the color of the flame. I noticed the animation of cinders coming off of the armor also which is awesome. So if it were possible to dye the flames black, and have black cinders coming off that would be amazing. Or even a blue flame like the icy dragon sword, or w/e color people wanted. You know everyone likes their armor to match their hair color and it’s even better to have the glow parts of an armor match the sylvari’s skin glow. And fire is one of those things that looks more awesome in different colors.
With that said. I wouldn’t be offended at all if I saw a human wearing a sylvari cultural tier 3 set, because it doesn’t take anything away from me.
Well our best DPS & evasion is max range. If I want a melee toon 100% of the time I would have a warrior.
I actually made a ranger because I found this character epic :
I couldn’t think of a ranger staying at range, so I’m happy the meta build goes S/W.
If every single recipe was given to every single player… then the entire concept of recipes would be obsolete.
Having all other different stat sets obtainable with discovery (before celestial gear was introduced) somehow didn’t invalidate the concept of recipes at all.
And yet what do you have to do to make exotic versions of those stats items?
Buy recipes.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
I understand. The TP is an integrated part of the game, though. There’s nothing preventing you from getting the recipes other than money. You missed getting them in the event and that sucks, but nothing is stopping you from getting them now. If you couldn’t get them at all, I would be angry too. But you can.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
All players do have access. You said so yourself, the recipes are on the TP. The recipes cost about a gold each – if you have trouble getting that, why do you think you can make the armor? The material cost for it is more than the recipe.
What you should be angry at is time-gating. It’s going to take you a minimum of five days per piece to craft.
You can get lucky and get a charged quartz from your home quartz node.
If the recipe with 250 ectos is still required to unlock this new infusion slot then we have nothing to complain about. If however it is no longer needed then I wasted 750 ectos on upgrading b4 i transmuted to backpiece skins I wanted. I wont be happy if thats the case.
When you infused your back piece for the extra +5AR, you did so because you needed/wanted the extra AR to advance in fractals. And this was one of the few ways to do so.
You knew at that time that eventually new ways to get AR would come out. The addition of ascended weapons led to an easier/cheaper source of +5AR than infusing a back piece. The future release of ascended armor will do the same.
You will not be losing your +5AR, and if obtaining a new +5AR infusion ends up being cheaper than what it cost you initially than that is the cost of being an early adopter.
You knew that the cost of that extra +5AR was very high initially, you knew that other methods of increasing your AR would eventually be released, and you are not losing anything.
I’m being punished today for doing what was necessary yesterday?
To assist you in your ventures into the mists, a new agony resist infusion slot has been added to all infused rings and backpacks.
All current infused rings and backpacks will start with a +5 agony resist infusion (this replaces the +5 agony resist that was previously on the item itself).
I’m not sure if I’m reading this correct. Are they saying that an infused backpiece will now have TWO infusion slots? Or that ALL backpieces will have an inherent +5 AR now?
If it’s the latter rather than the former, those of us who spent the 250 ectos to upgrade backpieces to have an inherent +5 AR are basically SOL.
Can I have my 250 ectos (x4 for gearing my alts) back please?

Point is this: it’s already kitten account bound, I can’t sell it and so I cannot damage the market at all, this 1 per day BS is a blatantly punishing time wasting gate for anyone that plays multiple characters.
Yet another “I have alts yet I’m getting ’punished’’”
It was your decision to make multiple alts.
Why stop there? Why not complain that “I’m getting punished for multiple alts because I have to keep spending gold to gear every single toon?”

Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
Not every profession can even utilize Celestial takes to a greater effect.
Additionally, why would you craft Celestial trinkets? There are ascended celestial trinkets for a reason.
Lastly, you can get CQC from your Home Instance node and Sanctum Sprint. It’s a low chance, but it’s there.
Well, I for one will keep playing my thief. After 3 legendaries I feel he is rather hard to give up on xD
Could have been worse, imagine they’d remove infusions. I just spent about 600g on infusions.
Same. I was debating between +40 precision or a legendary. Precision won.
Will infusions be tradeable or will each player have to level artificer to be able to combine infusions themselves?
Does Magic Find effect infusion drops?

This Friday’s Guild Wars 2 Developer livestream will focus on what it takes to make a PvP map in GW2.
Darrin Claypool and Jon Peters will be on hand to illustrate the complete process of the creation of the Skyhammer map, from the first brainstorm to the final polish. They will also show some alternate prototypes that didn’t make it to the final map, and give a first look at some game mode prototypes that they’re currently working on.
If you’ve got questions about PvP map development, post them here and Jon and Darrin will try to answer some of them during the livestream. The livestream begins this Friday, November 22nd, at noon PST on http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2 –don’t miss it!
Use Ogre runes. Rock dog will keep the other player in combat. If you do it properly you can stealth out, reset, and reenter before they get ooc as well. Sneaky sneaky.
Caed start streaming again!

Guild wars should have an account bag for items such as infinite gathering tools and salvage-o-matic and anything else that is meant to be used on an account basis. bag would be available by all characters and act as another bag but would only take account bound items
A lot of interesting discussion on this topic.

Just wanted to say that I like the polls you’re throwing out to get information on “hot”-topics. You should have done that since release, but better now than never
Keep up the good work.
You may play with your other characters for 4-6 month, just look at necros, rangers, eles, mesmers, warriors. They were once really bad. then got buffed to oblivion and then brought down a bit to match other strong professions, now it is thieves time to bit the dust and be terrible but in 4-6 month they will probably be op as hell for 1-2 month then brought back down, hopefully in par with other strong professions.
Since I exclusively play thief, I’ll stick to it and drag my sorry behind though those 4-6 month of being stomped in the face…
Thousands of ppl have allrdy quit. I would say the competitive Teams from the past have all disbanded by now. As the jannaury patch in my eyes will be another dissapointment, I gonna watch for other games too. The only thing keeps me playing the game is the dailies.
Hey Jon,
Are there any plans to give thieves more condi removal In the future? Thieves rely pretty heavily on the shadow arts tree to get condi removal, and while it isn’t too bad of a problem I’m tpvp, In worried about wvw. I’m wondering if a trait In acrobatics that removes condi on dodge rolling (with an ICD) would be a good idea? The 10/30/0/0/30 D/P shortbow build that I, and many others, run In tpvp is getting a pretty sizable buff with the extra initiative (and a small nerf to vigor from bountiful theft), so I don’t think it would be wise to add condi removal to trickery or crit strikes or we will have an overpowered spec. Another possibility would be to normalize the condi removed by the signet of agility. Maybe make it remove 3 condi regardless of teammates?
Just some thoughts I had as a tourney and WvW player.
Edit: I’m on my phone so pardon any mistakes

Here is my objective comparison between S/D thief before April 30th, 2013 and S/D thief as it currently is:

(For clarification: I am still referring to Infiltrator’s Return as Shadow Return in my analysis)
I sincerely hope that this analysis is read by everyone who comes across this post.
I have already posted this in the Dec 10 patch notes thread, reposting here for visibility.
Sorry for the typos, this is from my phone on the bus. Not for dec 10, because it takes time to do, but we are intending to make pistol whip into 2 skills(similar to flanking strike) so we can split initiative costs and balance canceling to chain stun. This is on the docket for the next patch.
Jon
Why are you splitting pistol whip? Can you explain it in more detail please? Are you doing it for PvE or PvP?
This skill is very important for PvE thieves, so hopefully you can balance it carefully so it doesn’t totally break thieves.
Dear Jon,
as someone else already pointed out thieves use initiative to activate all of their skills (on both their weaponsets); that means 1 skill puts a sort of cooldown on every other skill, so it’s not the same as “reducing cooldown by 33% on all skills”.
That been said, if you do not want to have a profession taken hostage by a 15points minor trait here’s what I suggest:
Opportunist
Increased trigger chance to 50%. Increase base cooldown from 1s to 10s. Cooldown is reduced by 0.3s for each point spend in Critical Strikes
at 15 points : 10s – (0.3*15) = 5.5s
at 20 points : 10s – (0.3*20) = 4s
at 25 points : 10s – (0.3*25) = 2.5s
at 30 points : 10s – (0.3*30) = 1s
You should also not change trigger chance, making the trait almost useless for a 15 points spender but letting it rewarding for deep critical builds.
This way no one will go for 15 points just to have this trait, but ppl who do like critical builds will not receive another nerf.
Thank you.
PS: @ all my fellow thieves: if you like my suggestion, please upvote the post using the +1 on the right. tnx

Sweet Bas.7406! I am quite happy to hear you have started this back up! I have been missing hearing the other perspectives and views on the thief. Best of luck on the new run!
We need to get you on as a guest sometime :P. Always good to hear from a WvWvW thief! I may come back to playing GW2 WvWvW again. My internet connection looks to have stabilized.
Lux and Jakare are ready to go this Sunday @ 4pm PDT. Don’t miss out on your chance to troll them on chat or ask questions about the state of the thief.
Now the teleport should actually remain. Here’s why: It is an awkward mechanic and disorienting for the thief himself but this lets it also act as a counterweight to the rest of the effect. A kind of penalty if you will that could be turned into an advantage by a skilled player.
This is just silly.
If I’m chasing someone and they stun me with a ranged attack, and HtC teleports me directly backwards, no amount of Skill can be applied to fix that situation.
If I’m trying to prevent a decap and HtC teleports me off point, there is no amount of “skill” that will stop the point from ticking in my opponents direction.
You know what they call it when my character moves without my express input? Fear, a control condition. Beneficial effects shouldn’t behave like control effects.
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.
