I don’t think the OP is being unreasonable at all. It is extremely poor design to boot the entire party just because the person who started the instance cannot continue for whatever reason.
This is a very good question. I would like to see a dev response, but I know they are busy responding to posts which praise all of their good works.
I am looking at the Watchwork Pick in the store right now and it doesn’t say that it has a chance to give sprockets on gathering. Do you have to buy it before you see this?
They don’t have time to disable talking to NPC’s during combat in a dungeon run.
I’m not an expert in programming, but it seems to me if they toned down the particle effects, which are way over the top anyway, they’d be able to allow more people per map.
I think you lose too much personal DPS by choosing boon duration runes, but for solo PVE that’s a choice you can make. Ogre runes are another solid choice.
There’s a guy in my guild who runs Sword/Sword and Rifle for aesthetic reasons. Sure, it’s not optimal but at least he runs with berserker gear. I always carry a longbow with me in case I need it, but the truth is using that rifle in PvE dungeons a lot is going to lower your dps. Using sword as your Main hand won’t be terrible, but ranged damage, especially on warrior, is just not good.
I’ve tried many builds since the patch but I still find myself gravitating towards the water and arcane lines. I have realized the damage potential of ignoring those lines, but the survivability I get from these lines is like a security blanket.
I’m getting better at building might using S/F, but I still find that D/D is my favorite. D/F is ok, but I find the focus breaks up the flow of combat for me a little bit when used with dagger.
I guess my trouble is that I have no problem building fully offensive on my warrior, but when I try to do it on ele it just doesn’t feel right without EA, healing ripple, elemental attunement, etc.
Whoever designed it needs to be fired. Immediately.
They’re actually going to be promoted. After people spend their gold to make the armor they’ll be more likely to use cash to buy gems for transmutation stones or armor skins.
There’s only going to be so many viable builds for PVE. You’ll have much better luck making an original build for PVP, but even that would be a challenge.
When I was testing builds on the warrior myself I came to the conclusion that either 30/0/0/10/30 or 30/25/0/0/15 was the best then I came to the forum to see which was better. I was not surprised at all. There’s really no choice at all when it comes to serving up the best DPS. The traits are where they are and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Is it worth it to level up huntsman to 500 just to make one weapon? I have weaponsmith and artificer at 500 and I’m really dreading the idea of leveling up huntsman to make a weapon that I don’t even really want.
This happened to us as well.
Thanks guys. I do have to admit that it’s easier to keep my might up with forceful GS in a PUG when other members aren’t contributing to the party’s might.
From what I have been reading on the forum it seems that 30/25/0/0/15 is widely accepted as the best PVE build. I have been running 30/0/0/10/30 because it seemed like it would be better for dungeons. I can trait for banners to help the group a little better. I’m wondering which build is better and why.
I would be incredibly disappointed if as elementalists we were to be unable to take renewing stamina, elemental attunement, and evasive arcana. Under the proposed changes this will happen. Also, I don’t understand why 13 has to be the base cooldown. The base cooldown should be 10 just like any other class. Taking 30 in arcana will actually be worse after these changes come into effect, not better. You’ll still have to put 30 points into arcana just to get your attunement cooldowns to a respectable level and you won’t be able to take the 3 arcana traits that make the ele viable to play right now.
Elementalist - Give them another weapon slot, but disable it during combat. While I absolutely wouldn’t want to give eles combat-swapping, that’s essentially two extra inventory slots, and it means that if I want to fool around with a combination outside my main set every once in a while, I just have to hit [~] out of combat, instead of having to dig through my inventory.
It’s more a quality of life improvement than a re-balancing one, but, man, I’d definitely mix up my play style more often that way.
I was going to post this. It’s something simple that would make our lives a lot easier.
I have one major problem with the OP. You preach freedom. And in the same minute, you ask people to report everyone who thinks different than you. “play the way you want” works both way. If you want a tank-healer in a no trinity game, well, okay. Whatever. But if I want a full zerker party, how dare you report me if I dont want to play with you? Am I not allowed the same freedom you have?
You are not satisfied to play the way you want, you want everyone to play the way you want – and thats Incorrect Thinking
I agree. It is a misuse of the report system to report someone who kicked you for the gear you are wearing. Now, if they harassed you for it that’s a different story.
That being said, I have a full cleric set of armor on my guardian and I absolutely love playing my mace/shield staff healing build. The problem is that you sacrifice so much to raise your heals by such a slight amount. I wouldn’t even want to begin to calculate how much effectiveness is lost between running my berserker gear with soldier runes and full cleric gear. That’s the problem. The guardian gets the most use out of healing power over any other class and it still isn’t enough.
That’s where I’m at with my ascended fractal capacitor. I refuse to put 250 ectos into it for a mere +5 AR.
I’m curious about the reason behind this decision. Would 1% more critical damage throw the balance of the game into chaos?
This maybe a silly question, but do you have site gw2state.com loaded in the background? This site uses a bell noise to alert you when a new event has started.
Infinite Continue Coin != pay to win

Is this pay to win? I’m not sure. What I do know is that this upsets me that we see a difficulty spike in SAB and then… Oh look guys, here’s an infinite continue coin for 600 gems. Gem store purchases cost an unrealistic amount of gold, so the argument that you can use gold doesn’t fly for me. Although I do make an occasional gem store purchase using real money, I won’t support this type of marketing tactic.
Focus on one character. Outfit yourself in a set of exotic gear and run dungeons. You can also currently do the champ farming in Frostgorge Sound. Also, there are invasions every few hours. When the game alerts you of these go and participate. If you don’t want to go for an ascended weapon you can make good money selling crafting materials right now.
I’d rather collect X amount of tokens than have to craft to get the ascended weapons, but we didn’t get that option. I’m not a big fan of crafting myself.
No, time-gated content is not fun. But that’s OK. We’ll leave the fun to other MMO’s.
I don’t agree with your understanding. Ascended is not like legendary. How could it be? Legendary was for cosmetic purposes only while ascended has increased stats. You may say that it not required but that is your opinion.
This is actually a great idea. Too bad they’ll probably never listen to your idea.
Ascended is like Legendary, nice to have but you do not in any way, shape or form NEED them. If you want them, there is a clearly defined way to get them. Do the work necessary or do without them.
I have no problem doing the work but I suppose you’re going to defend the fact that it’s time gated as well.
I used to be a player that enjoyed gearing his alts to their maximum potential, but having 6 level 80 characters anet has definitely cured me of that. I know the “exotics are strong enough” crowd will be here to tell me I’m being unreasonable.
Time gated content makes the things I do in game feel more like a job; a list of things I have to do each day in game. It doesn’t make the game feel rewarding or meaningful to me at all. Anet forbid that people could get ascended gear faster than others if they actually put the work in to get them.
So, you know what Anet, if you really value the opinions of your players you can take this time gated ascended gear and put it back where you found it.
Celestial already has a significant stat advantage on other pieces of gear.
Celestial chest has 270 flat stats, 3% mf and 6% critdamage.
Berserker chest has 173 flat stats, no mf and 5% critdamage.Celestial has 156% the flat stats of non-Celestial gear, aswell as an extra 1% critdamage and 3% magicfind.
We see similar ratio’s across the board on other pieces of gear.Celestial has more then enough compensation. Boosting its flat stats even further just because MF is removed would just be uncalled for.
Celestial needs the compensation. That compensation is the trade off for not having a strong stat in any area.
To all those who are arguing that removing MF won’t change the combat efficiency, I suppose that they don’t have to do anything to the non-celestial MF gear either because its combat efficiency won’t be changed by its removal. Your logic is flawed.
Your logic is flawed too, asking for compensation for an all-stat gear not being strong in any area. It compensates this by having all stats and as for “not having a strong stat in any area” -> it has the strongest crit DMG stat among all exotic gear sets (even though it’s just 3% as far as I know).
I actually did not ask for compensation for the removal of MF on celestial gear. The original user that I quoted pointed out that there was indeed already a compensation in overall stat points for using celestial gear and that a replacement for MF on it was not needed. All that I am saying is that if you do not replace the MF stat on celestial armor then why do it on other armor? They are equal stats on both sets.

I think Anet is somewhat greedy, but not to the extent that some people think.
There are certain items I would have bought like the infinite harvesting tools if it weren’t for the fact that they were all 10 dollars and could only be used on one character. If they were either a lower price and soulbound, or the price they were but could be used on all of my characters they would have had me.
I’m not sure why we get more than one character slot, the game seems to fight against us actually using them.
I still don’t see the point in the queuing. I wouldn’t mind as much if I could see the fight going on a lot better.
I agree with the OP. I only have 6 level 80’s. That’s not as many as some, but definitely enough to notice how Anet basically punishes us for playing alts. I sometimes wish I didn’t have any alts, but then I wouldn’t have arrived at figuring out which my favorite profession was and it’s possible I would have lost interest in this game by not having any alts by now. You left out one thing though. Dyes are character bound.
I’ve seen threads every now and then that talk about the trinity and I struggle as to whether or not this game would be better with it. That obviously doesn’t matter because we’re never going to get the trinity. I think what is really missing from this game for me is more defined roles within a party. I don’t think we need to have a trinity if someone wants to be a damage sponge or if someone wants to be a healer. Why is it you can completely kitten your dps output to take healing power, but all of your heals go up by about 1,000 more hp healed? Hardly seems fair for all that damage you lose.
I’m trying to get some commendations and hopefully help out other people in the process. Feel free to message me in the game or respond here.
It’s not challenging or rewarding when you know you are going to get something and that it will only be a matter of time before you get it. The charged quartz is the most ridiculous iteration of time-gated content yet. It’s absolutely terrible it takes 2 months to make a set for one character… but wait! Anet loves to punish players who actually play more than one character. So, if you wanted 2 full celestial sets you are looking at 4 months.
If they just remove the MF stat without raising the other stats I know I’ll be pretty upset.
I use sigil of battle on my elementalist, but it does not trigger the 3 might stacks if you are not in combat. It can only trigger once every 10 seconds.
But that’s true in any game. Every game has farmers. Anet gave them places to congregate and they do. What’s wrong with that?
I’m not sure where Anet wants farmers to congregate. I like to farm every once in awhile.
Many MMO’s require the player to rest between fights to recharge mana, energy, or health. I’m not a fan of this type of system. I’m not a fan of the combat slow down either, but I like to be able to heal by going out of combat.
1. GW2 is very alt unfriendly.
2. There’s a lack of meaningful or useful rewards for world events.
3. Magic find gear.
It also might help to get players back into the open world if they received more than 1 silver 77 copper for a completed event.
Reporting a player for ceasing to play the game. That’s a new one for me.
This site is how I was able to find an open Grenth temple earlier this week. We tried doing the event with a large group for a couple of hours on our server. It really does try your patience. http://www.gw2dragons.com/guesting.html#/temples
It’s annoying to be in zones and see the same waypoints are consistently contested. I think the problem is that there is no real incentive for players to come and secure these waypoints. You get a whole 1 silver for completing an event at level 80. Of course these waypoints are always going to be contested. The rewards need to be better if players are going to take the time to help secure a fort or something like that.
As I fall into the 35-40 demo, allow me to speak for my brethren that think super adventure box is the most kitten thing I have ever seen in my life.
This is supposed to be a game of epic world vs world pvp.. instead we get hello kitty adventure island.
Character balance needs work, the engineer class is crud, WvW is about as interesting as a game of leap frog.. or watching people jog… and we already have a pointless mini-game; it’s called S-pvp.
My father taught me that you don’t start a new project you finish the last one.
Anet never finishes anything they start, and the fact that our “expansion’s worth of content” is super adventure box, makes me want to stab babies with a coat hanger.
If you need me, I’ll be watching Game of Thrones. I can’t take any more of this kids stuff.
WvW is a game of leap frog. Or it’s kill the smaller number with the bigger number. While I don’t hate the Adventure Box, I have to agree with you. This game needs a lot of work before they should work on stuff like this.
I’m 31 and while I find the Super Adventure Box to be a fun addition, I don’t really love it. I have a love/hate relationship with GW2 myself. If I had to pay a sub I’d have been gone long ago, but since I don’t I’ll stick around and enjoy things they add.
It should not be a bannable offense. The guild is in complete control over who has access to the the guild bank. The dinner party analogy is flawed. Here is a better one: Would you put someone on your real life bank account that you just met? Would you allow someone access to your real life bank account that you don’t trust?
In other words, if you give someone the opportunity to misbehave or commit a crime he is entitled to do so?
How is it a crime when someone gives you access to the money?
If someone gives you access to something doesn’t mean you are allowed to abuse it. The guild bank is there for everyone, not just you.
Now you are expecting that all people behave like good human beings. Laws must be explicitly written out because there is no room for vagueness, otherwise how could you ever convict someone of a crime? What you are describing is a rule of courtesy and goodwill.
