I’ve tried playing this mission 5 times now and every time it bugs out… Right after killing the Eye of Zhaitan, the cinematic plays with King Reza’s dialogue displayed at the bottom of the screen but no voice, and he never spawns. Can’t complete the story mission.
Hey MO, it’s really nice to see you giving us updates about upcoming changes.
I guess it’s time to bust out those lingering Fractal achievements then!
Hey Mo, it’s nice to see such transparency on a controversial announcement like this. I enjoy Living World myself and only just crafted my very first legendary a few weeks ago despite playing the game since launch, so these news are actually kind of nice to hear for me. I understand a lot of people will be angry though, even out of principle.
I understand “indefinitely” sort of means “for the time being”. Is it then reasonable to assume that once the team has the bandwidth again, work on legendary weapons will resume?
I’m having the same issue… The magic orbs aren’t dropping from the Fleshreaver or the Fleshgrazer, only the Karka Queen drops an item. Can’t create a Charged Dwarven Spelltrap without them.
Has there been any word of a fix for this? I sent a ticket to support but I’ve heard they don’t always grant you the items. Yet I see some players with the legendary… Hm.
Items: Carapace Pants and Luminescent Pants
Race: Sylvari
Sex: Female
Profession: Mesmer
Bug Details: There are two vertical dark lines located on the back of the leg armor. These seem to only be present on female sylvari characters and don’t appear for example on human females.
Item: Aetherblade Medium Shoulderpad Skin
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aetherblade_Medium_Shoulderpad_Skin
Race: Sylvari
Sex: Female
Profession: Engineer
The shoulder armor twists awkwardly only when the character is holding a rifle, as seen in the screenshot. Look at the shoulderpad that is on the left side on the screenshot.
This issue appeared with the most recent patch on Tuesday 8/25. It looks like something has changed with the female sylvari’s right shoulder, causing the shoulder armor on that side to move and cause twisting.

When I claim a Mastery Point from one of the glowing orbs dotted around Verdant Brink, they still remain in the game word.
I assume map markers will be added for them later on, but will the orbs also stop glowing once you’ve claimed the point on one of your characters? I find myself noticing the MP orbs, getting to them then remembering that I’ve already claimed it on another character I played earlier.
It’d be nice if the orbs became less shiny once claimed.
The leather belts/straps on the Glorious Brigandine are not displaying as they should. This bug seems to only be present on the female sylvari version of this armor.
You can see the texture bug here when comparing the chest armor to other races: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glorious_armor_
I know this will probably not make it to the fix list… But hey figured I’d create a topic to make the issue visible.
I’m sad there is no physical collector’s edition.
I guess I’ll get the Ultimate bundle (I buy gems regularly so may as well save a bit on them) at some point before the pre-purchase deal runs out, I wasn’t ever going to not buy HoT anyway. :P
Yeah. He wasn’t the only one.
Lots of people died helping others evacuate. You can’t go and single out anyone just because he’s more famous.
He should get something else, like a plaque or some new item named after him. But not a landmark as if his death was different than any other. Everyone is the same before Grenth’s eyes.
The reason it should be called Phoenix roost is because LA rises again from his ashes like always.
I can’t argue with this logic.
I suppose the sentiment about rebirth is equally fitting, considering LA’s history. Looking forward to the update that brings the new city about!
I’m disappointed in the community for voting Phoenix Roost over Grady Lighthouse.
Does no one remember Priest Grady, who gave his life to guide ships to safety till his last moments during the siege on Lion’s Arch? Does nobody remember the pain his passing caused to his daughter?
I feel like Phoenix Roost just sounds very generic and not linked to the history or lore of the current LA at all. You guys should play this game more. :P
Skills 1-9: Naga buttons 1-9
Dodge: Middle mouse click
Elite skill: E
Weapon swap Q:
F1-F5: Shift + 1-5 on Naga
Once you get used to the Naga buttons and hitting 1-9 becomes muscle memory, this simple setup gives you instant access to every keybind you need.
You are still left with extra buttons on the mouse as well which you could bind to whatever you like, but I personally find the Naga buttons 10-12 a bit awkward to reach for so I don’t use them for anything that needs to be activated fast.
I would like to see t-shirts, hoodies and coffee/tea mugs! I would especially like merchandise that is linked to a specific character, for example a hoodie designed in the style of Eir Stegalkin (so, earthy colours, maybe a fuzzy interior for cold weather) or a wallet inspired by Marjory DeLaqua that’s made in black leather with metal details.
Oh and of course character statues! I love character statues and I’m sure limited print editions would sell very well. Also… Quaggan plushies. Pleeeeeease?
I think the character specific stuff is probably a bit too complicated to pull off, but the basic items like t-shirts and mugs would be a great start. I mean, there’s a Guild Wars 2 toaster… Where am I supposed to drink my tea from?
My asura engineer needs this!
I wonder if they will release a full set of these?
ANet already said they’re looking into reverting or changing the current trait system. People are suspecting it will be reverted to what it used to be, which would make traits a non-issue for new characters.
I don’t know what to say about the other arguments, they don’t really seem like an issue to me. I used to play MMOs where rerolling meant starting from level 1 with no gear or achievements so I guess I’m just used to having it tough. :P
Like Seera said, a race change is quite a huge logistical undertaking from a coding point of view. It may not even be possible at all, or if it is it would take significant work to implement and test for any bugs. There’s a lot of things that could go seriously wrong if bugs slipped through.
Rerolling is very easy in the game already (account bound ascended gear, shared skins, titles, AP… plenty of level up tomes and XP wrist and boosters are available, only lock are traits and waypoints/map completion) so I’m personally happy just creating a new character. I understand it’d be convenient to have a race change option, but at least the alternative isn’t so bad.
I really like the third option of the female sylvari faces that were added yesterday. It allows for a sort of mischievous trickster look without looking evil. This set is a nice change in comparison to the sweet looks of the previous batch.
I haven’t played around with the male faces too much yet. My ultimate favourite is still the third sylvari male face from this set! http://dulfy.net/2014/05/20/gw2-new-makeover-kit-faces-with-festival-of-four-winds/
Thanks JayMack! I felt like I let every lore fan down by blanking on Gaile’s bonus question about King Doric. xD
All the other participants seemed very knowledgeable about the lore as well, I guess sometimes it boils down to who has their hand up first. My guild holds a GW trivia event every week so admittedly, I have had practise with springing on questions quickly. :P
Oh yes, I’m sure there are toasters better suited for making great toast. My current toaster is rubbish and this is actually an upgrade in more than just the novelty aspect. :P I’ll always have my old toaster for when my toast needs to be less geeky!
Ahh, I am not worthy!
Keeping it pristine did cross my mind, but somehow revering a kitchen appliance boxed and in unused condition seemed extreme even by my standards. Besides the GW2 logo that it burns on toast is just too fun NOT to enjoy!
I love that this thing exists. GW2 is known to not have a whole lot of merchandise so it’s pretty hilarious that out of every possible thing they could put their logo on, they picked toasters.
I was at Rezzed in London last Saturday and was very lucky to win one of the Extremely Rare and Highly Coveted Totally Authentic Guild Wars 2 Toasters!
Some people I met there asked me to post a picture of the toaster on the forums, so here you go, a pic of my breakfast this morning! I can confirm that it makes the toast taste more delicious than regular toast.
These toasters are quite rare and only have a couple of mentions about them on the Internet so far. One was posted by ANet to Wartower.de admins during Halloween 2012, one is in Josh Foreman’s kitchen (I think) and another is owned by this guy. There’s also somebody’s housemate who has one, supposedly purchased at a mysterious faire.
I had a great time at Rezzed and was completely chuffed to be able to be there. It was amazing getting to meet and talk to all the ANet devs and other players, and of course to play HoT. Thanks for coming to London!

Ack, I posted a similar topic just now before noticing this one, deleted it and now it’s just sitting there without any kind of post content to it. x_x OoOOOooops…
But as I was saying…
I was watching the latest PoI episode where we got to have a good look at how gliding works in practise.
Now, I understand the content is not final and things will change from now on, but I thought the way the character’s body wasn’t reacting to Nellie moving her left and right while gliding looked a bit jarring. You know how your character moves really beautifully when underwater? I would like to see similar care taken with the gliding animations. If the glider turns or strafes (not sure if strafing is possible or if you’re locked to right mouse click/keyboard left+right) it would seem natural for the character’s body to sway with the momentum.
Similarly, when Nellie activates the glider it sort of just appears without any animation transition happening with the character. Currently it doesn’t give that “whoa!” effect when you dramatically launch off a cliff and pull out your glider.
The basic functions are there, but I would be super happy to see the animations be given more polish!
I too would like a Caithe statue! Also a full soundtrack including the LS music. Maclaine and Leif’s music is awesome and deserves a spotlight on the CE.
I can’t stop watching the trailer, never been so hyped up for an expansion before.
That moment when Rytlock opens the door and reveals this GIGANTIC open area filled with lush jungle growth! I almost fell off my chair! Just… Amazing. I cannot wait to get there and explore every nook and cranny and tree top!
I’m throwing my credit card at the screen but the payment’s not going through! Ahhh!!
Seriously though, I’m waiting for details about a possible Collector’s Edition with bated breath. The first one did not disappoint, and Rytlock really needs a buddy on that shelf!
I remember a dev once mentioning that a sylvari body consists of plant material that is tightly pressed together to emulate the likeness of human anatomy. Apparently their poo also looks a bit like mulch.
That’s awesome! Thank you for the reply Angel.
The sylvari being dragon minions was my favourite fan theory before it was confirmed. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds in Heart of Thorns!
The mote continues to be bugged. Missed a whole evening trying to organise a group to do these achievements, then all of a sudden we get hit by this bug and none of the workarounds are effective. People got tired and we had to disband, but this is super annoying because the only thing holding us back is a progress blocking bug… :/
I was coin hunting today and came across this. I thought you have to use the air aspect to get to some invisible platform to get it! I /bugged it as well, hopefully it gets fixed in the next patch.

Overall I really enjoyed the new episode, definitely the best one so far in terms of story. Biggest highlights for me were Glint’s lair, because I really loved how you could listen in on Marjory and Kasmeer talking to each other and learn about the history of Glint while you were absorbing in your surroundings.
Second is the library, of course. So much lore, so much information! And it doesn’t even need any voice acting! I loved the small details like the people shushing whenever you talked to someone. It was just a treasure trove for any GW player who enjoys the lore of Tyria. I wish you could have a book collection where you can actually read the books you’ve found through your Collection panel.
The thing I didn’t really like, or felt was a bit awkward, was the encounter with Belinda. It felt weird that she went from being hostile to suddenly infusing her sword with her being. She didn’t seem THAT close to Marjory when she was alive, but she spoke differently to her in ghost form, like Jory was the most important thing in the world to her. Maybe she was, but it didn’t seem that way previously in the story because we were given the impression that Marjory doesn’t visit her family very often.
Also, I think it was a bit awkward not having a unique music track playing in the background. It was meant to be an emotional moment, there should have been music to accompany that. Music helps set the mood in intense 1 to 1 character interactions like these, and it guides the player’s reaction. I think it would really, really, REALLY give some extra oomph to the story episodes if Maclaine and Leif penned some short tunes for important cutscenes.
As an example, in the mission where you meet Trahearne, a music track is playing in the background. It really set the mood for the moment and I felt like my character really was the Commander of the Pact, slayer of Zhaitan, returning to the field after a long hiatus. That mission is much more memorable to me than Belinda unfortunately, because the fitting music invoked emotions.
Thank you ANet. This update will be amazing and really goes to show that you go into great lengths to listen to the community and that you want to make GW2 the best game it can possibly be.
My only wish is that the Jack Sparrow hair-do from the male asura would also be allowed on female asura… I love iiiiit but my character is a female. :P
That stinks that this happened. If you submit a ticket, though, you may be able to retrieve your skin from support.
You think so Lilith? I’m sceptical, this seems like one of those “well that’s how we designed it so tough luck” cases.
Perhaps I will try anyway…
So, at the moment Transmutation Splitters return two pieces of gear to their original states, or that’s how it’s advertised in the gem store at least.
Thinking this was going to be the case for all items, I used Scarlet’s Veil on my mesmer, not really thinking about the look of the helmet. Once I realised it could look better on my engineer, I figured I would purchase a transmutation splitter to return the helmet to its original skin-only state, transmute it to a medium helmet, and give it to my engineer instead.
But as it currently is, when I split the items, I’m left with the original stat item, and the skin is turned into a level 0 Light armor (or whichever armor the skin is first used on) piece, forever locking it into that armor class.
I suppose this is some kind of safety measure to avoid people getting skins from another armor class on their characters but with once-in-a-lifetime skins like the LS meta rewards, this is kind of restricting. The Transmutation Splitters are expensive as it is, and I’m a bit bummed to know that my LS rewards are forever locked into one armor class once I use them.
I wish ANet enabled us to retrieve applicable LS meta rewards from our achievement window, like you can do with the Zenith skins.
Me too! I totally loved the fact that out of all of them, it was me and Kasmeer who were there in the final confrontation with Scarlet.
I remember when I met Kasmeer for the first time in Southsun Cove, and man, I really didn’t expect that a year from then I’d be facing an insane sylvari super villain with her on a gigantic drill in the middle of the ruins of Lion’s Arch! If anyone had told me back then, I would’ve laughed and told them they’re nuts and that sort of thing just doesn’t happen in MMOs.
Sure the system has room for improvement, but I think the Living World is really shaping up to be something quite special. I’ve never had a gaming experience like this before.
I have only heard of firstborn and secondborn mentioned in books or ingame, but what about sylvari who are born just now? Surely they’re not referred to as One-hundred-and-twenty-sixth-born and so forth. :P
Since sylvari take note of what time of the day they are awakened, would it make sense to refer to a sylvari who was born during the dawn as Dawnborn for example?
Considering how many player characters there are in GW2 by now, single-word names are pretty difficult to come up with unless you’re typing complete gibberish or using titles… So it got me thinking about second names for sylvari. (I know Scarlet took the name Briar, but she hardly represents the sylvari culture.)
I use a mix of tier 1 and 3 light armor on my female sylvari and this update just REALLY upgraded her look! She looks amazing! Sure I need to play around with the dyes again to get a nice look, but once I’m done she’s going to look 10 times better than before. Thanks Kristen!!
Since today’s patch, my female sylvari’s eye colour has changed, affecting her look significantly. Her eye colour is “Oak” and it used to be a sort of gentle orange/yellow. Now it’s a very high contrast red-orange that blends into her pupils.

This is terrible. I’ve been spending over two hours in W2Z3 doing Master of Baubles, and I got stuck inside a wall due to one of those stupid rams hitting me and pushing me there. I can’t use any items, no mobs are hitting me… I just completely wasted almost three hours of my time in SAB due to a collision bug. There should at least be a suicide button or an /unstuck command or something. Pretty shortsighted. I’m mortified.
I personally liked Trahearne. I admit his personality came off as a bit too flat perhaps, but I don’t think he was intended to be a cheery/happy character anyway.
He comes off as a kind of bookish and introverted to me. Maybe even a bit sinister due to his profession as a necromancer and because of his Wyld Hunt in Orr. I think Anet wanted to show that off by picking a calm/monotone voice for him. Not saying there’s nothing wrong with him, but I enjoyed the character and was glad to help him.

This issue is definitely back, and quite badly as well. While doing invasions it’s really hard to get the camera moving, I’m literally smashing my right mouse down several times just to get the game to wake up and realise I’m trying to move the camera. Accidental targeting of enemies when letting go of the camera is back as well…
It feels very much like how it was back at the launch of the game, and I’m absolutely certain it was much better before the most recent patch. My mouse itself is fine and has no issues with right click in any other games.
I’m using a Razer Naga with the latest drivers, Windows 7 64-bit.
My mini Watchknight went missing as well.
It was in the bank collectibles tab before it vanished.
I can’t believe the nerve that some people on this thread have! ANet is working hard to make the sickle look good and people just complain and demand more. Seriously, how many developers these days respond to feedback this quickly and on top of that post on the forums with updates about their progress?
So what if the animation already exists in game. Does it look good? Yes! That’s all that matters. Show some common courtesy guys.
As soon as I found out there was a mini Faren in a speedo I knew I had to add it to my collection! Thus, when I saw the prices people were selling the Kasmeer mini for my heart sank because I’ve never been very rich and I don’t want to take my changes with the crates… Imagine my joy and surprise when I managed to get a Faren for a mere 3 gold.
My human noble will have him with her all the time!
Meh, I’m taking a break from the game since this issue occurred, hoping to come back when it’s fixed.
C’mon Anet! impatient
I got a gem refund so I bought a makeover kit with it and I’m just waiting for the bug to get fixed before I use it.
It’s a bit meh but as long as people get their gems refunded it’s not that bad.
I’m not able to access that PC any more unfortunately and don’t have any kind of removable storage that would house the full game.
In short, the only way is to download it.
Hi,
After installing the game from disc and trying to download the patches, the download starts off fast and then gradually slows down until it stops completely and won’t resume or go past that point. I don’t have firewalls or anti-virus blocking the game and I have been able to install the game on the same network on another PC.
The PC doesn’t fill the game’s minimum requirements but I would only be using that computer for browsing the TP and chatting with guildies so I’m not expecting good performance. How can I bypass the system specs check and just download the game?
I use a Naga for playing GW2 as well and I simply have my Naga 1-9 set to the keyboard’s 1-9 so I don’t need to change anything in GW2’s key settings and can play the bell choir and other similar activities using the keyboard. I use E for Elite and Q for weapon swap. F1-F4 I’ve bound to have a secondary keybind for Shift+1-4. (I just use 1-4 on the Naga.)
I don’t know if something like that really warrants its own fix. GW2 allows 2 keybinds for the same skill, so just bind your Naga keys to whatever and use the secondary keybind slot for whatever your Naga button is linked to. That way you can have your Naga configuration without actually altering the default GW2 keybinds at all.
