It’s kind of like a range and your hp+toughness. I’m ele. In phase 2, if I’m in a certain range of lupis, let’s say less than 1100 feet, then he will chase me, 90% of time. But if I keep strictly 1200, then he might chase others nearer. But still possible focus on me. In phase 3 it’s more related to the range, if someone stay closer then he will constantly follow that player.

Being an ele, I was hated by most of bosses. They all like to kill me first. I was trained to be a good dodger thanks to this.

Yes, you can do all the achievements in infantile world, including associate of baubles. I got the title there.

It quite possible you missed some bubbles. Maybe you should check dulfy again. I followed the guide and got the achievement.

Why Arah Path 4

Hey, it happens a lot in Arah PUG.
I tried path4 3 ot 4 times. Each attempt wastes more than 2 hours. First time, we met a bug. Second time, game updated. When one member d/c, he got auto update and cannot join the dungeon again. Third time, don’t remember what happened. But the forth time, I joined another PUG and we all stayed. It takes more than 4 hours for the whole path. *Heard it nerfed a lot, might be shorter now.
Path 1 is another pain. I had to reset the ad on gw2lfg again and again. Regrouped at least 5 times. Some PUG members have no idea what arah is, quit after their first death. Although I added detailed notice on the ad: serious player only, those noobs just keep coming (maybe should call them newbie cause they know nothing what they are doing). We even regroup twice at lupis. At the end, when finished, including me, only 2/5 were the ones who started from beginning.

Never happened to me nor my friends. 3 times are A LOT. You may try to talk less next time. Or dont play with a guild team.
But anyway, the kick only need 2 ppl to agree is unfair. I think if want to kick somebody, at least should let the majority of the team agree, that’s 3 members.

That happened to me once, PlaneWalker. Using a teleport skill will get you out. Also, if you’re a class without a teleport skill (Ranger / Warrior), just use an experimental teleportation gun and portal yourself out. If all else fails, Mesmer buddy can get you out with their portals.

For the record, I also tested that a bit and found I could jump out if I jump-spammed the right way. Really ugly solution and takes a bit of fiddling, but at least you can escape.

Teleport works for me for the first time. But the second time the place I got stucked is so tricky. I tried every place to tele just cannot get out. T_T

I learned from experience that never run through the door. Now I only use flag.

For #2 you have to click the banner to teleport to the boss, usually that puts you into the ice that you just have to dps down on your own to get out

I know sometimes you got stucked in ice when using flag. But I was not stucked when use flag to transport, I was stucked when run through the door to boss. When someone aggroed boss, I got stucked in the door because I haven’t run fast enough. There’s no way I could reach the flag. And the door is not dps-able.

I don’t know if others reported it already. Although these two bugs are solvable(not as bad the cliffside one) but they are still annoying sometimes.

1. Sometimes the mobs will be stucked and begin to heal themselves very quick. It’s very hard to kill them with it’s fast healing speed. This bug majorly met in charr frac at the last part, veterens get stucked near the statuary. Ranger veterens can hit you when healing himself. It’s quite frustrating sometimes. Especiall when you have 1-2 members downed you cannot even have high enough dps to reduce their hp.

Another part is the dredge frac, especially during the bomb part. Dredge stucked near the stairs/door and began to heal themselves very quick. They can still hit you with their range skill and you had to focus all your team dps on one veteren to slowly overweight the healing speed.

(Is this intended? I hope not.)

2. Another annoying part is the ice frac. I got stucked at the door near final boss twice. It happens when someone runs to boss and you follow a little behind near the door. Then you got stucked in the door.

The first time I tried my transport(luckily I’m using ele) several times and get out of the door. But the second time I tried every angle and had no luck. My team decide to fight it with 4 ppl at last.

Although it’s an easy boss, this bug still annoying. Now I just stay outside until the door closed and use the flag to get in to avoid this bug.

It’s actually a shame that we are forced to do it like this :

instead of using the regular mechanic because it is bugged as hell.

You are kittening kidding right? Look at the party composition, I don’t want to be forced to come up with a party like that because of tons-of-hp/regen-and-no-strategy boss.

I see parties being forced back into holy trinity, even more noticeable at Fractals now.

I dont think the class requirement is that strict. When I fight her our team has 1 guard 1 war me (ele) 1 necro and 1 mez. Which doesn’t seems as a highest dps build but we fought her very well and get her down quick(if not that quick).

Although I dont have large enough sample, but the probability for cliffside is really high in the past days. I met it so many times. In the past 4 days I run two daily everyday, so total is 8 frac runs. I met cliffside in 7 of them, quited 4 times and fought 3 times. Really waste my time. Can Anet just be kindly enough to remove cliffside until they can get a final “fix”?

If the team leader (the one who enter the dungeon first) left, the whole team will be kicked. This is a setting being complained a lot and yet haven’t been changed. So next enter the dungeon first.

Offensive infusion slots are useless

Forging an offensive infusion matters if you’ve hit the 2% lottery and have a ring that is actually useful to your character beyond the infusion slot. Most players are stuck using whatever crappy rings they’ve gotten just for the infusion if they want to progress, and no one is going to forge an infusion for such a ring.

Basically a defensive infusion slot is better than an offensive one ~80-90% of the time simply because it only costs 75 relics to progress with your crap defensive ring, but would cost 225 to progress with your crap offensive ring.

That’s true. I only have one infused ring and it’s condition dmg, which is really useless. I still haven’t made the desicion to buy an 225 relic infusion for it. So I still only using my non-infused rings…

The protection part really works. But that room is narrow so it’s hard for you to dodge both agony and aoe on the floor. Will take some wipes.

Cliffside Fractal final boss Broken

Still bugged. Just encountered. Mobs just keep respawning (not the chanter, the other kind of mob). The only way to fight him is pull him to the other room. But the other room is too narrow to dodge his aoe in phase 2. Took us almost 2 hours in this dungeon. This bug is so ridiculous as it has already lasted 3 days and still appear after so many hotfixs. Is it mean skip cliffside is our only way? Could Anet just remove cliffside from Fotm before you REALLY fix it?

And yes we tried to wipe once as it suggested, nothing happend, still we are surrounded with 20+ mobs when the hammer drop and after broke the seal.

Good lord.

Congratulations. I’ve done it a couple of times as well. There’s nothing impossible about it.

We found workarounds. We probably have guilds to run with. Throwing it in people’s faces on the forums: absurdly poor manners.

I’ve made many a post against the vast amount of complaining people do. When people are complaining about things that work as intended, but just aren’t to their liking, yes it is annoying. This is a bugged event, that clearly and officially is stated as bugged, and ANet has yet been able to tackle the issue (hilarious, but no need to beat that dead horse). Let the venters vent. It’s legitimate this time.

I dont think something like “we beat the bug” is worth proud of and fun. In fact it’s a shame of Anet to have so many bug in Fotm. After I beat it (with a PUG has no heavy armor), the only thing I felt is not “how great I am”. Instead, it’s like an anger “how stupid I am been played by Anet”.

Guild Wars 2 IS for all kinds of players. If you for some reason take 2 hours to do 3 fractals, then you’re obviously not skilled, and there’s other content for you out there.

A game for all kinds of players means it’s POSSIBLE for you to do all kinds of things for all kinds of players. Not that you will, unless you really want to.

If you spend 2 hours on fotm, another possibility is you met the newest cliffside bug made by Anet.

Hey guys… i just like to say… The promisse of sellers GW2 was: This game is for all kind of players. Even that players who dosent have so mutch time to spend on it.

1 Point – Fractal to 1 lvl up is 3 in the row right? So.. depend on group.. is conected 2 hours strait.

2 Point – When you are more hight lvl.. this time double or even triple…

3 Point – Its a absurd the best gears in game came for a place where you have to play a looooooot…

Sry aboult that.. but if the idea of this game is equalized the type of players… this Fractals kitten all up.

If you know how to play a fractal run even in 20-29 takes u total only 1,5 hours MAX. (i counted yesterdays run cuz i had the worst fractals, with ice, knock back and cliffside)

Next time count your time with grawl, cliffside(bugged) and dredge.

I know a lot of pug groups who failed at level 30+ just at this map even they had two or even 3 guardian at 40+. Then they tell to themselves, “oh we did not need more guardian instead more AOE or DPS for those lavas.” I admit the fact that our two good guardians played a crucial role up to this level, but I want to point out that having 2+ guardians does not simply mean clearing this map.

You are right, at some points. But still 2 guradians make this fight at least 50% easier. Although I haven’t got lvl 50+ yet, but still base on my experience in a high fotm lvl it’s almost impossible to do this fight without guardian (shout war may possible?). So that doesn’t other members didn’t do good job, just mean sometimes you really need a class no matter how hard others play. This is some design errors maybe.

Before I saw the video, I tell myself " they should have at least one guard, maybe two."

Then what I saw, TWO guradians. That’s why they pass, not because the ranger nor the thief.

In this fight (maybe others as well), more guardian makes it easier.

I don’t have thief nor nec. Base on my exp, nec buffs the team better than thief especially in difficult dungeons. They have better survivalibity, better aoe and controlling skill. Thief has some other skill works for some specific situation. But if lemme choose one from these two as my team member, I would prefer necro who can serve almost all situation.

cliffside after patch

Can you return cliffside to what it used like? Today’s cliffside is even more buggy than yesterday. Yesterday it still doable after several wipes. Today it’s almost impossible. It seems everyday cliffside is become even more messed up.
Now we are facing 20+ mobs with boss together, who will follow you from highest floor to the entrance at the first floor. There’s now way to survive.

TA story is the longest story through all dungeons, how could it just takes you 20 mins? Or you mean exp up up path?

Anyway, you should also think about the rune in the armor. It’s better to have a set with runes that can help you. TA is pretty easy in all paths, just very few people run it today. So hard to find a group. CM is also very easy but also hard to find a team. Hotw’s first path is pretty quick so most people just do this. If you want to run full paths of Hotw it may takes you some time to find a group. Arah is the most difficult dungeon right now and you need very good patience to get an arah set. On average a PUG team takes 60-90 mins to finish the easiest path – path3. But I heard there are some quick runs now, don’t know how they run and if they could get tokens.

You are forced to fight 3-6 monsters by yourself. No one is going to come help you until you’re dead.

Well is it fun? That’s kinda why I want to see it implemented more in dungeons. Maybe focus on that gimmick so that it feels better since it’s the main focus..

Not really. But it’s not because you’re forced to solo.

In fact it still team work. Because if one fail, the whole team fail.

So what’s your class? Are you kiting mobs during normal map events or just stand still and hit them to death before your hp runs out? Do you know what dodge is and when to use it? How many controlling skill you have and when you should keep them in you skill slots? Do you have invul skills or reflection skills and when should you use them? If you are surrounded by several mobs, do you have at least one "help myself " skill sets as the easiest reachable key on you keyboard/mouse?

If you can answer all this questions, then you should be pretty good for most of the dungeons, if not all.

Why doesn’t any ele play cleric instead of glass cannon? Way better survivability and u can be lazy while everyone does their magic.

I don’t think cleric is a good choice because healing is useless (mostly). It doesn’t make much difference with cleric and berserker when you heal, but it makes a big difference when you dps. If you really want survivability, just change to AC set with power, toughness and vit. This is how most guard do.

I had a similar post earlier but been deleted. There is surely something wrong for their fixing priority. There are many bugs in Fotm (transporting elite mobs in fire shaman dungeon, disappearing food buff, d/c problem, disappearing skull during maw fight) and many parts need to improve (RNG ring, hard to LFG in Fotm because too many difficulty lvls, multi server players must find an overflow). All of this problems are serious hampering us, but are not Anet first fixing priority, maybe not even second.

If you’re worried about having problems looting unlootable jade collossi (due to full inventory), then simply dump parts of your inventory prior to the encounter.

- Salvage a few blues (if they’re levl 80 then its a chance for ori or ancient wood), salvage salvage items, deposit collectables, throw away garbage (e.g. globs of globby goop).

You usually have time to do this when your mates are hitting the first two tentacles and before the transition. In fact it’s a good idea to do this anyways because you’ll usually want all the loot from the boss chest anyways.

You dont understand what he mean. There seems has a priority for looting when multiple things collapse together. Due to my experience revive is highest prority. This is why I say when people die with hammer you could never pick up the hammer except rezing him. When crystal at the same place with loot and body, then you press F, you get loot, press F again, you begin to rez, after all this cleared, you can get that valuable crystal by your F button.

It’d be fine if the skulls appeared like they are supposed to. Here’s our current run (I’m downed right now):

- Skulls are not appearing over player’s heads a good part of the time.
– Shield USUALLY appears when it’s supposed to, sometimes we don’t get one.
– Tentacles just 1-shot anyone who gets close.
– When I did get a shield, it killed ME when I threw it at the boss (nothing else was around).
– The F button does EVERYTHING but pick up a shield. It picks up my turrets, revives the downed ally right next to the shield, and loots Jade Colossi (particularly frustrating when my bags are full). Can we PLEASE be able to set different buttons for things like this? It’s beyond frustrating.

Exactly, especially the F button part. There are several times people died with hammer, then hammer drop on their body. It’s impossible to pick up the hammer in this case because the only choice you could see is revive.

cliffside boss phase 2 - discussion/tactic

Seems like if you ever wipe once he will be always in the last phase. During last phase he will follow you even until the entrance of the dungeon. So could just pull him back to the hallway. In this way you will not aggro respawning mobs. Then pull mobs into the hallway, aoe much easier.
The agony light has a range surely shorter than 1200. I seldom got hit.

I don’t know if MF rune works, but after many painful Fotm dailies with nothing, I finally got two rings when I made three knight gears with rune of pirates.

Just don’t tell your group buddy you wear MF gear. Some of them are very sensitive. One even ask me to change my weapon since I have increase MF stack on me.

I’ve completed path1 twice after the patch. And boss 1 fight is hurt but every decent team can do it without wipe. Just need some high dps class, with better aoe and controlling skill. Well you know what I mean.

After fotm lvl21 it’s hard to find a team. Just need more time or try to creat one yourself. My ele is at lvl 25 and I know your pain. It usually take 30mins to find a group(even ones are easier). Generally I just reading my facebook and other website when waiting for gw2lfg.
It’s all because the difficulty level setting here make lfg so hard. Is it possible that people from different lvl can run Fotm together and get their own reward? Could just set the difficulty lvl same as the highest member in the team.

I got my dungeon master title from PUG runs, even some most difficult paths. It all depends on luck. Some people are nice and some are rude. I made friends and sometimes been booted and frustrated too.This is the fun part of PUG, knowing different people, and be the nice guy. Good communication also helps.
I’m a staff ele and glass cannon build.

I guess your difficulty level of fotm is very low, since all these problems never show on high lvl team. All this depends on experience. You should know where to stand on each point, and where to jump over barricade. I can successfully run most of the wisp points and I’m sure most people after 20lvl can do it. When we saw swamp, we will say “easy one, lucky day”.

I used to run COE a lot but stopped after I got the gear I want. It just too long, with many unavoidable death. Even I’ve been very familiar with COE, but I will still die several times. Why? The crystal time is too short. PUG teams can seldom destroy crystal in time and my vunerable ele always end up dead.

The aggro system of alpha is very annoying too. Alpha always follow me. I counted once that in one fight, he called me crystal 7 times and I died 5 times becuase that team cannot destroy crystal in time.

Also very few teammember can successfuly dodge alpha’s aoe. Many times during the fight they all dead and I’m the only one remained. In path2 the WP is very far from final alpha fight (in fact all paths’ wp are very far) makes them spend most of time on runing back. Not mention path 3, I once spent over 1 hour on it due to that ridicouse team. So many suck memories about COE. That’s why I never run it again.

I’m a most berserker ele, one of most vunerable classes. I have only 12200hp, and yes I can survive in most fight on lv 20+. It just need some stratgy. If you keep strictly 1200 feet away, you will get very little hurt from most bosses. Also dodge and mist form can help.

The only problem is maw, but I tried and yes I can survive without help. Switch to water and drop two healing ring before swithing phases, then use healing skill. After downed, use skill 2 when low health. In this way, after all agony hurt, I will be still downed and have little health remained (maybe 1000-2000). Then can slowly rez myself.

Path 1 still get that bug but can be fix easily. Just leave one team member behind with NPC, and fight the last boss with 4 men. He’s weak any way. This would solve the problem
For simin we didn’t do sparks. Just pull her out to a angle and hit her until death. She disspeared twice but re-appeared at the same place. Just keep hitting the air, aoe, everything. There are youtube guides you could use, just search arah simin. See recent ones.

I hope this is a bug. Spineguards just waste my bank slot. It cannot be salvaged and cannot be used in mystic forge. I can’t even get my gem back from previous backpiece. Isn’t it ridiculous??

I like to be in your party and play fractals with u but i can’t because u kick people who have no agony resistance. So is that my fault the Anet hates me and doen’t give me a ring? while others who have done less runs then me have 2 or more rings?

Your post would be completely different if u weren’t so lucky (or as i like to say if Anet did hate u like they hate me.) I believe the items are not random they are bugged and bugged for some people for a reason. Because Anet is constant tinkering with the droprate’s.

It is starting to notice not only with the agony rings but also with rare and exotic stuff.

Agree. I feel like the droppings are not random. My ele always has bad luck while my guard always loots a lot of rares. Although I don’t like guard that much, I’m now thinking of elevating it’s frac lvl to do the daily. Because I really need rings. I’ll try if guard has better luck.

I’ve tried this path twice after the patch and finished it in the recent attempt. Any decent team can kill boss1 and reach boss2. The only trick we learned from death is if you pull boss 2 near the door behind him(or her?) then inquests waves will stop spawning. Killing him then is like a piece of cake.

No seriously, learn to avoid the agony attacks. It WILL make you a better player in the end, infusion or not. Level 13 shouldn’t be such a problem yet without resists.

It’s possible for L2P part if you are a range dps to avoid most of the agony hurt. I only got one ring from previous grind and worked fine during frac runs until I entered lvl 20+. I died EVERYTIME when changing phase in maw’s fight with my poorly 5 agony resist. No matter what I did, how well I dodged, or other attempt such as focus on healing to save my life, I DIED again and agian. I’m dungeon master, so don’t say I’m not good about my class or need more patience.
I need higher agony resist for higher lvl. What could I do? I only got 1100 relics, not enough for backpiece. I don’t have enough G to buy T6 to forge a backpiece. There’s nothing I can do to avoid this death. I want to try higher difficulty lvl, but agony resistence stopped me.
