Many thanks!

P.S. Sent out a PM to everyone here that mentioned they wanted one of their names that was “taken” just in case… so no one else duplicates the effort. —I know someone asked for it but figured I would notify everyone of the good news.

I no longer really care how many points it is to get… it is frustrating and angering that every single one of them (well, 90% or so) are a champ mob you have to kill. Now, sure, I can solo about 1/5, but that is still not enough and, since the maps are all dead, there is no chance of getting the rest. These things need to be scaled based on the number of people around them… not arbitrarily set as champs all the time. I am very discouraged and tempted to do something else for a while :/

I do not even want to think about the fact I have to suffer through them for all my alts as well

I am hoping this was a sarcastic troll of the latest mistakenly crafted events because the big thing that makes gw2 a better mmo than all the rest is because of the nature that all contributers get a reward as appropriate to their contributions. We all get resource nodes instead of having to fight over them or look for ones not being routinely farmed by bots.
I have always loathed open-world pvp servers in other mmos and sure as hell never want to see them here. The community is a lot better in part because there is no one filling our chat logs with salty words of loss when we just want to roam around in pve to relax after a long day at work/school.

I have been using this to get around and it does not seem that OP to me… even if it is unintended. In fact, I think it has some dangers associated with it as I have run into combat on numerous occasion and forgotten I had no energy left. I can see it being balanced in that regard even in WvW or PvP because, if you get jumped by a stealthed player, you are starting out low on energy where, with runes, traits, utility, or swiftness, that does not hamper your ability to use skills. Just an idea to, maybe, consider leaving it as is

I dunna get why it is such a big deal… all the groups I was with in beta and now for raids… Vale Guardian moves around a lot. When he splits, you can still move him around in tiny circles… so Torment does fine; and even without movement, I always see it do more than the burning I apply.

Still a major L2P situation going on with raids though so folks just play the ignorant game and take what they think is best because some noob on youtube or twitch said it is. Nothing can be done but find a party not filled with elitists.

BWE3 Chronomancer Feedback Thread

in Mesmer

Pompeia.5483

All right, so I was purely just trying to test the changes to gravity well, as it is the skill that really makes me want to play mesmer… Also, keep in mind, I only do PvE.

So. I get that it keeps going through alterations on what the pulses do and, well, I still like what we saw in the first one most. Now, the knockdown is usually ineffective or does very little, the float is so short-lived as to not even be noticeable (I think Karka Queen got a whole cm off the ground compared to like 3x that in the first iteration which was beautiful to see), but the final pull is nice to help group mobs for aoe’s of other wells..

What I would like, if possible, is two second pulse of float then that final pull. That sets it up to do the final damage on anyone inside. The knockdown is fairly pointless in PvE. We are better off with something that applies confusion like all our other skills do (Confusion would be from “omg black hole!” kind of thoughts). Well, okay, never much cared for knockdown… it does so very little in PvE.
Or, if you really want that knockdown, float, pull sequence… then at least make the float two seconds (increase to four seconds. 1 pulse kd, 2 pulses float, 1 pulse pull).

As for PvP, you just evade the float and you are basically good to go… so no worries on too much cc… I think

As for the shield… I am liking it but not sure if it will be worth it for condi mesmer :/

BWE 3 Reaper Specialization Feedback Thread

in Necromancer

Posted by: Pompeia.5483

Pompeia.5483

All right, a few concerns to note from my limited testing. I only PvE cuz that is all I play.

First thing, as everyone else has noted and they said was fixed, was just how easily I melted through the story mobs (and HoT mobs in general)… though reaper killed all the dino’s the fastest of all the classes I tested when coming up the ramp at end of story. I dunno if that is a problem with other classes not having comparable AoE or necro being a bit on the upside for power (well, condi’s, I am using all condi builds).

Second… the minions from Rise:

  • Given ample healing (we have druids now) in a zerg or WvW kind of setting, they seem to last beyond cooldown time and thus, you could, theoretically, spawn an infinite quantity of them? Is there a hard cap to their numbers? I had at least ten when fighting Taidha. (I forgot about chronomancer contributing to this!)
  • What if we have a party with lots of necro’s, will there be a graphics cap? What about, in PvP, when we have multiple necro’s on both sides using this; can we distinguish the vast quantities of these minions?
  • Are these minions influenced by the “hiding miniatures” or “low” setting to models such that they are going to be invisible?
  • What happens if we have a, theoretically, infinite hoard of them? Do we even take damage?

Third, Gravedigger… I know it has been mentioned but it needs something to handle not being spammed for bosses/mobs that have a large HP pool. Maybe, instead of reducing the cooldown 100%, only drop it down 75% or something… I get that it is a clean-up styled skill, but it really is silly and, with the trait to leech HP on the skill, you are not going to die in these cases…

Then there is chill and its condi-based damage. I am worried that, because it is non-stacking, all my condi chill damage vanishes the moment anyone else puts chill on the foe. This brings us right back to the same problems we had with bleeds/burns/etc. not being able to go over a stack of 25. I do not know what you can do to remedy this but maybe keep an internal, hidden, stack counter for each reaper… or make the chill damage duration on the necro… so long as they are maintaining their stacks, enemies that have chill around them will take damage.
Then, for QoL, I would really like to see the damage on it as it continues to bug me. ie: When I am playing with gear and trying to figure out the best combination of types so I can get reasonable healing and damage, I have to go into the build window just to see how much damage chill will do. I want to see this damage modifier on chill descriptions on the skills as well just like what happens for every single other condi damage ability in the game. This also applies to when we have might as we run around… it’s just nice to see the damage on our skills as well.

Raids and build snobbery

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pompeia.5483

I have 165 LI, to date. I do not run meta builds. I use my own intelligence to figure out what works and adapt. However, I started meta to prove myself to a group of people I now raid with. They know I can handle myself and do not need to ask about gear, skills, or traits. That is what you have to do. Problem is, with pugs, you will always have to prove yourself with new people.

Meta builds are there for the lazy and the, well, not skilled at reading traits and logically assessing what fits with what and where (I have a coworker that just clicks whatever he wants in trait lines and leeroy’s everything). They come up with these meta build things to make it easy and, honestly, allow for more margins of error. There is no reason you cannot, if you know how the game works, come up with compatible, budget builds that allow you to play just as well as anyone else. Just know the role you aim for and do not step on toes.

And just because I can; shameless plug, Viper tempest does more damage to a single target than reaper in the same gear. If not for epi, reaper would not be taken. (P.S. my reaper is my main)

Enhanced Squad UI Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Pompeia.5483

I was in a raid group this morning when we entered the raid and the leader had no idea how to make sub-groups no matter how much we told them to just drag the person around… I did it, without knowing, and reading the small, not-obvious text, on my first try. To be fair, I am good at figuring things out… but, for the sake of everyone (maybe they are drunk, sleepy, not a native speaker of English, etc.) it needs to be made easier to create sub-groups. Someone suggested trying to right click the person… I would agree with this. A right-click menu to then assign person to group 1-10 or w/e.

Also, in agreement with the others, I wanted to be able to place colored tags over specific people in each sub-group I made. It would really help to coordinate efforts for the Vale Guardian, and likely similar encounters, if we had a nice contrasting color over our heads as a reminder… I mean, we have the tags, we can expand on them further. Then we can have a red, green, and blue group, for example. This would be true in squads as well as in raids for subgroups and for lieutenants.
Another example would be a raid party for all the defenses of Tequatl… You could make six sub-groups. Each hills/boat/turrets would have a lieutenant with a color the rest of the group could hover around. Then the raid for the zerg.
In WvW, you could have sub-groups by role, and better coordinate multi-pronged attacks with each sub-group having a colored icon to follow rather than having to guess, in a sea of effects, who to follow.

I was also frustrated to not see condi’s & boons on my teammates and know if I needed to pull/cleanse a condition or if I was forgetting a boon type (say my duration is longer than theirs, etc). There are numerous ways to display such things. Other games/mods I have seen evolve around different colors for such things… like dark green for poison, neon red for bleed, orange for torment, blue for chill, and x over their block for immob… etc, etc. if you do not want to jamb all the zillion icons in there.
Alternatively, only show boons and condi’s. We really do not need to see what signets folks are using or which banners/food they have active. In the midst of a fight, you do not care. Of course, before a fight, you might want to check to make sure everyone is set up right… but then we are getting into tricky things with right-click to enable/disable features.

When I created sub-groups, the window did not automatically expand… so I was freaking out that I removed them from the party! It should expand to auto-fit the quantity of people and subgroups (then let us manually re-size after). I never looked but is there a restriction on how small or large it can get? You could use the size of the blocks to determine how much information is showing if you wanted to make a super snazzy UI.
if (area of block > X) show boons & condi’s
else show hp only

Otherwise… I do like finally having squads mean something other than an icon over our head for folks to follow. It means they will have more of a purpose outside of WvW

WvW Poll 6 June: World Linking Schedule [CLOSED]

in WvW

Posted by: Pompeia.5483

Pompeia.5483

Hypothetically that’s impossible. 4 months currently have 4.8% (less than undecided votes at 7%) and 6 months have 10.9%.

That’s why it is hypothetical. If you want real numbers at this point in time (35.8%=1, 26.9%=3, 14.9%=2, 10.6%=6, 6.9%=ignore, 4.9%=4).

Does 1 month win or do you take the weighted average which is about 2.5 months?

We take the weighted average of all voters which is 2.5 months or 10 weeks.

Nah, lets weight it by number of link changes in a year (i.e. 12/link duration)

(35.8%=12, 26.9%=4, 14.9%=6, 10.6%=2, 6.9%=ignore, 4.9%=3)

That averages to a preference for 7.1 link changes per year or a change every 1.7
months, or approximately every 7 weeks.

I would accept this. Two weeks to stabalise positions and five to play.
Then wipe your TS permissions if link changes and no more than seven times a year, or something less maybe.

Ranged condi weapon

in Revenant

Posted by: Pompeia.5483

Pompeia.5483

What if we just made mace auto have the same range as the rest of the mace/axe skills? 600 or 900, I think it is. Because, currently, I am finding it only semi-feasible to melee on Revnant with my Malyx/Glint line-up (I would rather Malyx/N and have better heals but oh well). So, instead, I stay at ranged and only use 2-5. I still have decent burning and torment but it also gives me the survivability of not being in the monsters face and getting body-slammed (you know that frog) or burnt to a crisp by those wyvryns.

Sure, it does not work well on some bosses, like Megadestroyer or Golem MII, but it would give us that mid-range option (like shortbow on Ranger does) for condi.

Which makes me wonder… besides warrior (lb)/ele (staff), does any class have much long-ranged condi? I keep thinking most condi damage on all the classes is mid-range (necro scepter, ranger sb or axe/torch, thief sb, engi pistols, mesmer scepter). Guard gets fire on any weapon…

Pompeia.5483

So question, why do the non Raiders not complain so vehemently about all the ascended backpieces, armour skins, and content you see and the rewards of reward tracks in pvp and WvW (outside of gift of battle)?
It just irks me I guess that that is a complaint, which I feel is fairly unjustified.

The story complaint is similar because even I joined too late to witness season one and the epic scarlet boss my friend always brags about at work.
I do not even see any real story elements during the fights. And barely still outside of them. How could they have made the raids have a purpose, other than raw challenging content, without a semblance of story? I am only able to picture empty boss floors with some path from one to the next like in wow raids and that is certainly dull.

However, spending time with a group of friends is the biggest reason I can think of as to why I am still raiding, still teaching others to raid. If I could get the same social experience elsewhere, and not have the frustration of dying a lot, I would take it. But to my knowledge, the only other stuff for this is either blobs or tiny groups of five people that finish something in twenty minutes and forget you exist the next. This contributed a lot to why I quit wow and Rift. Queue, dungeon quickly, leave, repeat.

Different Raid Difficulty Would Satisfy Most

Pompeia.5483

Because talking to other players is super difficult……

It’s almost like those allegedly exclusive guilds aren’t recruiting or something…..Oh wait reddit/gw2 forums and even in game daily there’s adverts for guilds.

According to reddit survey, there is like total 40+% players who want to try raiding. If raid teaching is so widely accessible, then why these numbers are so high? It’s not like people have problems to join WvW/PvP/general PvE guilds, but suddenly all of them are too lazy to find a raid one? Why there is so many threads, topics and posts here and on reddit, under literally EVERY dev post?
Your logic is not working here.

Just this past Saturday, TTS ran five training groups for NA timezone. That is over fifty people we trained and threw at VG.
Additionally, we run three to four groups during OCE timezone on Sundays. Which is a different set of thirty to forty people. Not to mention the two or three groups on Wednesday, OCE.
I am confident we are not the only guild doing this.

Something we do that other raid guilds could certainly do is that, to be in the raid guild, and on a static group, you also need to lead a training group at least once or twice a month. This would get loads of people into raiding. Just set the requirements reasonable (like following those builds on the qt forums) and you will have plenty of people and lots of success.

But again, check reddit and these forums, and map chat, for guild recruitment and do some research ahead of time. Being prepared goes a long way to making the fight and experience smoother.

Ascended Armor for Raids

in Necromancer

Posted by: Pompeia.5483

Pompeia.5483

Honestly, you will get more of a gain from ascended weapons and trinkets than you ever would with ascended armor. Personally, that is all I am going to go for. The biggest benefit you will have from the ascended armor is, if you do not like the build, you can respec the armor at the mystic forge. Exo cannot do that.

However, if you still want that, just be careful about Rabid because you will draw the boss’ threat from having so much toughness. I went with a mix of Sinister and Apothecary and seemed to do well but reconsidering the two Apothecary items for Viper’s or something. If you want to remain a hybrid, Vipers is going to outshine Sinister.

Pompeia.5483

Because I have a feeling at least half of the upset players would cool down if they just told us the layout, in numbers, to unlock traits, skills, sigils, fashion-wars items, etc. I will perform some math magicâ„¢.

I, honestly, have no problem (for my mains… alts I casually play are a diff story and will likely still remain unplayed because of these shenanigans) if the traits and skills are around 250-300 because I can see getting the GM traits in HoT as not as big a deal… except for like Daredevil or Reaper where the main idea behind the Elite spec is the GM.

However, if the GM traits end up being that 400 point item (falsely? assuming a linear path for all things elite and thus breaking the mold of skills and traits being separate) well, I hope my aforementioned box of kittens with Rabies run rampant in the home of the person that made this choice.

So… if we get someone (the mastermind behind this) to, perhaps, be kind enough to fill out this table… that would be brilliant.
(Also, we can see this as a better breakdown of where those 400 points go. We can also make assumptions based on previous traits on the order we have to get things—top down in lists == left → right on skill-bar.)

Elite-Spec Minor 1 = 60
Elite-Spec Adept 1 = ?
Elite-Spec Adept 2 = ?
Elite-Spec Adept 3 = ?
Elite-Spec Minor 2 = ?
Elite-Spec Major 1 = ?
Elite-Spec Major 2 = ?
Elite-Spec Major 3 = ?
Elite-Spec Minor 3 = ?
Elite-Spec GM 1 = ?
Elite-Spec GM 2 = ?
Elite-Spec GM 3 = ?

Elite-Spec Heal = ?
Elite-Spec Utility 1 = ?
Elite-Spec Utility 2 = ?
Elite-Spec Utility 3 = ?
Elite-Spec Utility 4 = ? (Not on Revenant so… do they cost less? Nah, likely costlier for each level… more BS!)
Elite-Spec Elite = ?

Rune ~
Sigil ~
Armor Item ~

So 340 points distributed over… seventeen skill/trait things and three cosmetic.
If we made the (obviously false) assumption it was evenly distributed, that means about twenty each. Thus, if you only wanted the trait line (and assuming skills remains equally separate like today) that means you need only 280 total points there. Which is, well, reasonable, as we already have 200-215 on a fully HP-complete character.
Then there are another 120 points for skills. Arguably, you only want one or two of those… and you can make due with just a couple. If you look at previous streams, and the order we have seen in the current skill lines, you know how many points you need to unlock your skills of choice. Though… if you (only) want that elite… then you gotta get em all anyhow.

Now, of course, factor in that they may or may not weight the rune/sigil/armor the same as the skills and that points of the elite-spec trait and skill lines increase as they progress, you now get the feeling of how much for each set of stuff. Sure, we have to fully unlock all the other (the only real mistake in this system) traits first, but it does not mean you have to fully unlock the Elite Specs to get what you want out of it… new game-play.

Lastly, given the previous “standard” we have of roughly doubling amounts as we go along and I would give the following rough assumption of what everything costs:

A1 – 5
A2 – 5
A3 – 10
`2 – 10
M1 – 20
M2 – 20
M3 – 20
`3 – 30
G1 – 35
G2 – 35
G3 – 35

WvW Poll 6 June: World Linking Schedule [CLOSED]

So on the relinking on the 24th, will there be a preview of the next linkings of paired server and also will the servers be locked on relink?

I doubt it. Anet will probably they do it to prevent rigged matches (ie guilds transfering on purpose) but in reality not telling anyone who links with who will give them a major gemstore boost because WvW players will be suckered into scrambling to another server, as usual.

Or they could, I dunno, get better instead of leaving to get carried and easy mode? Kinda the players own fault if they think they need to keep swapping around.

Ascended grind required going forward?

Then, still, you are forgetting those of us that can easily out-play someone in ascended gear with our exotics and thus nullify the whole elitist argument of gear-requirements. In the end… skill matters, not gear.

Just look at Falon… he ran around in tighty-whitey’s and a sword.

I was just running through getting a bucket of my hero points I had remaining on my necro and… what do I see? Dozens of the same people all doing the same thing. Ultra lame

Lets talk Mallyx

I do not really care what everyone says about their stupid power builds… I play for fun and Mallyx, albeit horribly broken and I agree with OP on several changes, is really fun. As I have said in other posts, you can get to 25-30 torment stacks and keep it there, and then kite mobs to do more damage with torment than you do with the amount of burning you can apply.

But then… I never listed to these silly optimal/meta build people insist on so… you can ignore my goal of having fun in a game >.>

I actually had not noticed/considered the duplicate boon-stripping traits… and the lack of a mace trait… that is fairly abnormal considering all other builds on all other classes that generally have at least one trait for a weapon. Hopefully they can rework the Mallyx line to better align with the others and how trait lines generally work. I am still hoping Roy gets that torment damage increase trait to go through

So does that mean we just got to wait and see in two days, I mean I’m all for speculation, but if what the point in turning that mole hill into a mountain if we are not even facing the right direction.

Yeah, that is what I am guessing… it got blown out of proportion from poor communication (which everyone is a victim of). I will not stress about it till the day comes. Of course I will be sad about my Revenant, but I can just play my Chillomancer until I unlock the mastery needed for enough HPC’s to get it. Besides, Herald was just a better form of Invocation anyhow (for condi)

Why no Corruption builds?

I am running a condi revenant and love it. It is a bit awkward in spots but otherwise handles things well and kills quickly. I, unlike the others, will be dropping invocation once I get Harald

However, need to get Roy to fix a few of the traits that are left-over from the old self-condi thing it started with (which was oddly similar to necro’s and yet people called it unique). That and the 20s ICD for the poison damage adept is still fairly pointless. I am still hoping he puts in the increased torment stationary damage trait.

Beta name still taken?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Pompeia.5483

I had several beta characters during the three BWE’s and was planning to use one of them for the official Revenant I would create. Two days ago, I saw the beta characters were no longer there and the four slots were empty, indicative of them being deleted. So, in a rush, I went to re-reserve my name for the release of HoT and found it was still in use. It is a unique name and I do not understand how it could be taken other than the character name still exists in the DB and was not fully cleaned out. This applies to at least two of the four names I was using.

As I am unable to delete these “deleted” characters, I cannot recover the name for my use. Is there something you can do to resolve this? Are the beta characters & slots still being purged and will be fully gone by HoT release? I really want the name I was using since it is a character in a book I am writing. Please help!

I did not have this issue between BWE2 and BWE3 as, I guess, the DB was completely cleaned and this time something different occurred.

Storm Bow skin

I bet it was originally the legendary longbow but they, having finished the skin, and not all the particle effects, sold it in gem store instead.

Remove DIRE, what are you waiting for?

You have to remember the point, and reason, people run condi is to get past the obscene toughness builds people run. In reality, what I think you want to ask is to remove all the bunker stat sets from WvW like pvp, but that is impossible given it uses pve gear.
To be productive, ask for stat standardisation in WvW with the same amulet concept as pvp.

In the meantime, remember that vitality is the counter to condi. And crit does not affect condi damage but condi output if traited.

Or, you know, bring a proper group comp instead of zerg blobbing so you can have power damage, condi damage, and some support classes to remove conditions and heal in general.
