I was able to do it. When you encounter the first defense golem, there is another one behind you. Kill them both. The one behind me stuck the NPC when we fought during a conversation a bit later.

Server population is easy they just count how many accounts are on the server. The active WvW population is tricky to do and can vary from week to week. I think the best metric as was mentioned in the topic already is the server WvW standing. It’s clear and does what we want to move people from stacked top tier servers to lower tier servers. If you want to go to T1 you have to pay going into silver league is much cheaper.

My main problem is with the focus on defending. What I enjoy the most is large scale open world fights, and most of the people on my server shares this sentiment. I never heard from people that it was so exciting to sit on a tower for hours escorting dolyaks and building/refreshing siege. What I can understand from the snippets of information is that defending will become more important now for points. I don’t want to play in a WvW where every server turtles in their keeps with kittenloads of ACs as this is the best way to get the points.

Speculation: I think towers/keeps/etc will give more points the longer you hold them or T2/T3 keeps give more points.

I think OP thought that he salvaged a full stack, but in reality it was only 170 ectos as it was not a full stack. Then he calculated the drop rate as it it was a full stack. Simple human mistake.

Bobby Stein confirmed that the thing with Rhiannoc in Seeds of Truth was a bug. Bug in the sense of lore inconsistency that slipped past QA.

So yeah, he’s dead already in the portion of Caithe’s past we explore.

What does seem to be a retcon however is Wynne being the first nightborn.

We’ve got Trahearne who was the first Sylvari ever and is a Nightborn and Malomedies who is the luminary of the night cycle and thus often disputed to be either the second night bloom or the first since there’s been some confusion about Trahearne and him being the first.

And now we’ve got Caithe claiming that Wynne was the first one and that the secret was revealed to her because nightblooms and secrets and her being the first.

Anet, untangle me this mess plz.

One explanation could be that Wynne was the Luminary of the Night until she died, then the title passed on to Malomedies who is the oldest living Sylvari born in the Night cycle. The wiki does not specify in which cycle Trahearne was born. I don’t know if there is any mention of ingame.

And if I remember correctly Riannoc is present at the first born discussion of the secondborn too.

So yeah, easy fix, but WILL THEY DO IT?

I checked the wiki and according to it Riannoc is not present there, he mentioned in a conversation which is problematic. I’m unable to check it now ingame.

It’s really simple. If you check the BL vendor, there is simply no more space to add a new tab for a new weapon set. So they decided to remove some to make space for future sets. They decided to remove them in bulk like now 4 weapon sets are leaving. So they are fine for a couple of months until the run out of space again.

What would be nice to have PvE and WvW reward tracks. It would work similar way than the PvP reward tracks, so you select a track and your activities progress toward that track. Leveling up with a character would progress your track with one unit. So leveling up in the new system would be more rewarding as you get a chest pop up every time, most of the time probably with greens and blues, but after 50 levels you will get something nice at the end of the track. It can be limited to level ups after level 80, so the new players are not overwhelmed rewards :P

If you go with point 2.5 and add new tokens for every new content please use the Account Wallet. For example the Geodes from last patch is a really good candidate to store there. I don’t think you did anything with Account Wallet since it was introduced.

If we think about the dungeons currently in the game the reward system was in a good place. You can get random drops and currencies to get armor unique to that dungeon. This is a good system while people want the tokens for armor and weapons. But after everyone get what they wanted out of the dungeon it’s just mindless farming for gold, with bad droprates. This means that this reward system is working great for e.g.: 3 months and then fails horribly. If ArenaNet released a new dungeon every 3 months with new tokens, armor and weapon set, I don’t think we have a problem. But we have the same dungeons for 2 years now. In case of dungeons the problem is not the reward system but the lack of content.

I don’t think there is any reward system that feels rewarding for two years.

What we are missing is the Evil Heavy armor class, so something like Death Knight.

Light: Good Elementalist, Neutral Mesmer, Evil Necromancer.
Medium: Good Ranger, Neutral Engineer, Evil Thief
Heavy: Good Guardian, Neutral Warrior, Evil ?

Maybe evil is not the best word for it so something dark that can use death magic, etc.

Radiant and Hellfire Armor Skins

It’s also sucks that they release these armors later. When I choose the Gloves, Shoulder and Helm skin I choose radiant as I did not liked the Hellfire ones. But the most important piece is the Chest and Legs and the Hellfire ones looks way better than the Radiant one in those. So even if they change the required AP points for them I want to go for the Hellfire ones now, but already have 3 pieces of the Radiant ones…

The idea to know what siege are you building is really good. It should display Build Ballista and we should have an easy way to select the siege blueprint we would like to be building. This should help a lot with troll siege drops at gates.

My server do not have any siege trolls and we are in Silver league. So this problem is probably only happens in some top servers. Please don’t impose limitations on siege use. The trolls will find new ways to troll anyway, and it will just limit the legitimate uses of siege. Make a good reporting tools, and hire someone to ban the people on the top of the report list. It should not be that hard to identify those 5-10 individuals. It is not like gold farming, it’s not profitable for them, so they will give up after a couple of bans.

I think it is good as it is currently. You don’t want the people who are on EotM in the real WvW maps. They don’t go to TS, have berserker gear, uplevel characters, etc. So they are basically rallybots. If the EotM population collectively decided to do WvW instead you have insane queses on maps, they try to karma train and flip things instead of defending, etc. This happened in Season 1 and it was horrible. You could not do anything in the first couple of weeks until the PvE achievement hunters finished their achievements. It’s much better this way, only the people who care about WvW go to the Borderlands/EB.

EotM is also a good place to level alts.

Why do you zerg?

Tactical Zerg battles with competent commanders are the best thing in WvW. I was fortunate enough to be able to run alongside with really good guilds (open raids), and it’s really good to see your team wiping zergs twice the size.

I also like to play staff elementalist, which is not that good in any other play mode. In zerg battles, you have to position yourself correctly, control the enemy movement with fields, place water fields when the commander calls for it, and generally do good damage. I find it much more interesting than roaming.

I usually roam with guidies in a 5 man party, but it’s a bit boring. You can flip camps and sometimes even keeps, but that just PvD. Sometimes you can catch the tail of the zerg, but that is just ganking not real fights. You can run into other roaming teams, which is OK, but it’s rarely balanced, one team can be much better, or outnumber the other. So I prefer sPvP if I want small scale/balanced fights. I can understand that roaming is good for PPT, but I prefer zerging for the good fights.

Voted for Meh. The story is good, but I really hate the new zone. It’s really compacted together, no endless desert feel. I also hate maps where you have to do jumping puzzles just go from place to place. Vertical maps are also hard to navigate, I’m at the green star but actually it’s 2 levels above me. Another sky crystal collection (called coins this time), which was the worst part of the last patch. So it’s among the three worst releases for me, the other two are SAB and Labyrinthe Cliffs. I HATE jumping puzzles, I can do them for achievements, but I do not enjoy doing them.

If a zerg captures SM, how would you reward points? What happens if you sit for hours in Garrison and nobody attacks it? You did not do anything that would award defense events, so you get no points? If it gets you points then a lot of people just AFK in keeps and SM, and be at the top of the leaderboards.

I don’t think there is a good solution to this, where we players cannot find some way to exploit it.

I would like that the iconic weapons for the professions be the most powerful, or at least viable. It’s really weird to see Longbow Warriors fighting Greatsword Rangers, and Staff Guardians. When I think of an Elementalist I think of a ranged caster with Staff not a melee fighter with Dagger/Dagger or Fiery Greatsword. So please rebalance the weapon sets to make the iconic ones more viable.

What I consider iconic weapons sets for professions:
Elementalist: Staff
Engineer: Pistol, Rifle
Thief: Dagger
Warror: Greatsword, Axe
Ranger: Shortbow, Longbow
Necromancer: Dagger
Mesmer: Sword?
Guardian: Mace, Shield, Hammer

Dragon Bash June

They only said that Living World Season 2 starts in July and the Festival of the Four Winds will also continue until July. In the past we had one living world release last 4 weeks and another that last 2 weeks in parallel. So the information they released so far doesn’t mean that we will not get any new content patch until July, just that Season 2 will not start. So we can get Dragon Bash this Tuesday. They said that the WvW Season reward vendor will be added to the game June 3rd. Which is really weird, as they usually release bigger patches on Tuesdays. Hotfixes can come any day, so theoretically they could have patched in the reward vendor on Friday or Monday, why wait until Tuesday. The only good reason if they plan to release a content patch on Tuesday and this will be a part of that release. Which could easily be Dragon Bash, which would also match real world Chinese festival in time frame.

At the end of season one both Jade Sea and Seafarer’s Rest got 2nd place. If you check the official leaderboards both Abaddon’s Mouth and Piken Square is listed as 4th based on the last weeks results. They only needed to break the ties for matchmaking as you cannot have more than 3 servers in a match. So we can have three servers at second place at the end of this season.

When you talk about winning against green in EotM please write if you are in the US or Europe. In Europe I do not see how can anyone defeat green. I’m not saying wiping them once, but winning the match.

This week our server is green and we have full size blobs all the time. Everyone is talking about not defending in EotM, green dominates so much that they can easily defend, well roll over their enemies. No ACs needed if the enemy zerg goes into green territory the commander ports back and wipes the enemy zergs. They say they go for the bags. As an uplevel KTrain we were wiping even 5-10 member guild groups. We were also able to get the Red Keep while it was heavily defended (Scorpions OP). After the capture we found like 10 superior ACs and 2 superior trebs inside. We had to waste their supplies on ballistas to not turtle up again.

Last week we were blue, when I log into the map there are no commanders, outnumbered buff, there are 5 people in the keep on ACs. If some of our stuff gets flipped there are maybe 10-15 people there to get it back after the enemy went away. Leaving the keep is risky, as green usually hunts for “bags”, so if they know you are there they are running to fight you. By fighting you I mean wiping our zerg in 5 second. I tried to get into EotM just after reset, so hopefully the first overflow is a bit more balanced. It was okay at first but after half an hour we got our outnumbered buff, and in an hour the zerg was reduced to 15 people. Basically after the first 1 minute of the match we got no new players into the map, as people left our numbers got worse and worse.

Being green in EotM is the cheapest and fastest way to level currently. I started a new character used an instant 20 scroll and a 24 hour birthday booster. When I hit level 80 I still had 4 hours left on my birthday booster. So that is about 20h play time. While earning money and a ton of WXP Levels.

I go to borderlands to play WvW and go to EotM to level alts.

Dragon Bash 2014

I think it is possible that the first Living Story of Season2 will be Dragon Bash. It is based on the real world Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. Which is according to the wiki was on June 12 last year and the Dragon Bash patch released on June 11. This year the festival will be on June 2 in China, so the patch can hit on May 27 or June 3. They said that they want to synchronize the Living Story between the West and China. I think this date should be safely after the launch in China, given that they are in headstart already. I was not able to find concrete information about the official Chinese launch date.

There was also speculation that they will do Dragon Bash in Labyrinthine Cliffs (Zephyr Sanctum place) this year as Lion’s Arch is destroyed. There were some pictures data mined about Zephyr Sanctum on reddit a couple of month ago:

Please rebalance waypoint costs. In the new system it will take two waypoints to get anywhere, especially in places like Orr.

Suggestion:
Make the cost of traveling inside the same map cheaper. Currently if I want to travel to a waypoint I’m standing on it’s still 1s39c. It would be much better to reduce this cost to something like 40c. The cost of traveling to a different map should stay the same. So if I want to travel to a contested waypoint it would still cost more now, but it’s much more managable.

To balance this out the armor repair cost can be the same as it was before. The new system feels really unintuitive anyway. Your gear still gets damaged, and you still have to go to a merchant to repair it, just the repair is free. You have to pay the merchants for everything why is repair free and not the other things? If you die because of fall damage your gear don’t get damaged, but if you get killed you have to repair (for free). Why not remove gear damage altogether then? Also the biggest thing on Outnumbered buff in WvW is that you do not take gear damage, but that doesn’t do much as the server which outnumbers you can repair for free anyway. So what’s the point?

Theorycrafting on Scarlet

My guess that Scarlet wants to wake up the jungle dragon. It is speculated that Sylvari are the minions of the jungle dragon, but something went wrong and they become independent.

“she looked deep into the eternal alchemy ignoring the warnings of the pale tree and saw something that changed her forever, warping her and turning her into what she is today.”

So what if the pale tree knows this, and it did not want Scarlet to know. When Scarlet looked into the eternal alchemy she realized this, or made contact with the jungle dragon, or become corrupted by the jungle dragon.

“but the question remains: What are these probes meant to find?”

They are searching for the resting place of the jungle dragon.

“and lead to one final moment that will change the face of Tyria forever.”

The jungle dragon awakening could be such an event. And Scarlet can be the jungle dragon’s champion. We will not fight the jungle dragon, or even if we fight it we will not be able to defeat it. It can also be similar to the other dragons, as Primordus, Jormag and Kralkatorrik are all awake, but we do not interact with them anywhere.

"Nightmare Ender" Achievment

Same problem here. I’m currently do not visit Kessex Hills until the achievement bug is solved. Will Anet delete the bugged achievement so we can get it properly, or the workaround is to do the story dungeon manually and we have to do an extra achievement for the meta because of this bug? Do we need to send a support ticket or it will be fixed for everyone automatically?

I started Guild Wars 2 last year around Christmas. I was low level during the event so I did not run the dungeon. I got 250 Mystical Cogs from some gift bag, but I was not able to use it as I was missing the other ingredients. I put them into my bank so I can collect the missing ingredients and create the minis this year.

So the question is: Will we be able to craft the minis like last year? If not is there any use for the Mystical Cogs or should I just destroy them?

Collaborative Development: Commander System

Short term:

A lot of players said the most urgent problems with it. Basically make it possible to have a pink tag that is only visible to the guild :P

Long term:

Scrap the whole thing and speak with the PvE designers to create a fully fledged Raid UI. This would solve a lot of problems and also would make the system naturally usable in PvE. There is no content that requires it yet in PvE except maybe the Tequatl fight or some Guild puzzles. But you can always add new PvE content with Living Story.

Some of my thoughts, but you can check out other MMOs that support Raids for ideas.

1. Make a UI which displays all the players in the raid (squad). They are grouped into 5 player groups. Everyone can see who is in the raid and see the professions represented, etc. So we can configure the raid that groups 1-4 are melee and should follow the commander, while group 5 is mesmers, and groups 6-8 are ranged who should avoid contact with the enemy front line.
2. The raid leader is the commander, he can move people around between groups, invite/kick players, etc.
3. There can be open raids where the commander tag is visible on the map, everyone can join the way you can join currently to a squad. There can be closed raids where the commander can invite players, and the tag is only visible to raid members.
4. The commander can mark players or objects (door, cannon, ground) with markers, to help organize the raid. E.g.: Group 4 and 5 follow the player marked with yellow star to get some supply from the camp. Group 6 (all ranged) should attack the Arrow Cart marked with skull, while group 5 (all mesmers) go to the blue square and get into the portal to port the raid into garrison.
5. The commander can promote players to lieutenants who can help with organising groups, inviting players, marking objectives, doing supply checks, etc. So he can focus on combat while others help with the management of the raid.

Acquisition can be problematic as making raids should be core to the game the same way you can form groups now. Maybe you need to spend 100 gold to make open raids when your commander tag is visible to everyone.

Mage/warlock class

I really like ranged magical dps classes so I can dps from afar without worrying about dieing. I could choose from three classes in WoW.

Fire and Frost Mage → Elementalist
Elemental Shaman → Elementalist
Balance Druid → Norn Elementalist

Nice selection right there. I hate Warlock and Arcane Mage so Mesmer and Necro are not applicable here. So there is at least one class which would be perfect for me the Elementalist. So I can deal massive damage from range to the enemies. Well the best build for an Elementalist is Dagger/Dagger which is short range and the massive damage is just not there. It can survive if you are level 80 with Exotic gear and you know what you are doing. Not if this is your first character and you don’t know that you can dodge. Let just say I died a lot during leveling. It was also disheartening that I use combo fields to stack might dodge switch attunements and heal, to just kill normal enemies, while a Warrior simply hit it a couple of times and it died.

As far as we know at least parts of the next Living Story will take place at the Bazaar, so I guess that it will not go away for at least three weeks. In the last two month we had a Living Story with lots of achievements (Southsun, Dragon Bash) which stayed when the next patch was released, then a dungeon which was for only a patch. So this would also means that the Bazaar will be here for a while. If you check the Grandmaster of Om achievement it says: “Defeat Poyaqui, the Grandmaster of Om, in a game of Belcher’s Bluff before Zephyr Sanctum departs.” So the zone will be permanent as Belcher’s Bluff is not temporary content. But the Zephyr Sanctum will be removed at some time and you cannot complete the Bazaar achievements after that.

But this is just speculation, if you want to make sure you should complete everything until 7/23.

I really hate what is happening in this thread. The so called “Core” guilds make a thread to persuade people to stay away from the server and then transfer out. It looks like they want to ruin Piken Square. At least the people who transferred here will fight with us, not against us as the “Core” guilds.

I will stay here and fight for Piken Square! Can you say the same?

The same happened to me also. I wanted to go into a story instance, and was cicked out of the game. I can’t login since. Is there any status page where we can see if the servers are online?
