I must be missing something. I haven’t noticed the (PvE) dailies getting harder, other than when they gave us a choice of which 5 to do out of 9. I don’t do PvP, so I can’t comment on whether that is more difficult or not.
I like having more things to do that reward my play, but that is just me. I have no problems at all with Dailies or Monthlies since the change to choosing which ones you will do; I wish there were more things to do in Dailies/Monthlies, as I finished April’s Monthly in about 5 or 6 days. (And yes, I chose Sonic Periscopes..lol.)
Actually PVP is quite a bit easier, as they just fill up and complete through normal PVP play, you don’t actually need to put in any sort of effort other than you know, normal pvp’ing.
Letting you know you hit the DR would entirely defeat its purpose. It is there to STOP people from farming efficiently. If you were told you hit DR you’d simply move to another area and continue farming optimally.
I thought it was there to stop the bots. Why would they want to stop regular players from playing the way they want?
Because there’s virtually no difference between the effects a bot and a player dedicated to farming have on what passes for an economy ingame.
And yet the best possible way of avoiding DR is to look at what’s dropping for you. The drops themselves are an indicator of when DR kicks in.
In Orr, when DR kicks in, you start getting shedloads of porous bones. You see that, and you move one elsewhere. Simple.
Currently there’s this issue where you guys want ascended stuff for laurels, but are whining about the fact that spending an hour to get dailies done is not something you are prepared to do?
On the subject of “Dailies are not forced on people – is not an argument” – Yes, yes it is a perfectly good argument – Here’s a side-by-side comparison:
Do you want to get CoF Gear? – Then do CoF runs and get tokens.
Do you want ascended gear bought with laurels? – Then do dailies and monthlies.
Neither point is forced upon you by devs, neither one is required for you to fully enjoy the game. You chose to take it upon yourself to obtain the best possible gear, thus setting yourself this goal, and the main pre-requisite for it is doing dailies. Hence you are forcing yourself to do them. Not the devs, not the game, but you – because it’s your choice.
How much easier do you need dailies to become? Instead of whining like children about how you cannot spare an extra 30min to an hour to do the dailies (since you want the laurels) why not just whine about how unfair it is Anet is not just giving you free laurels every day for logging in? Easy enough for you? Hell why not just make wurms in Queensdale drop exotics exclusively. See how long GW stays interesting after that.
You are given an OPTIONAL goal to strive for. Whether you do or don’t is up to you.
All of the arguments I’ve read so far are the equivalent of you deciding to go to the store to buy a gallon of milk, then, on your way, deciding that it’s unfair that you have to lift your fat behind and actually walk there and you don’t just get that brought to your door for no extra charge because your bought milk once before in your life.
I haven’t been able to run CoF speed runs because I’m lacking a full set of zerk gear. I’m also not saying it’s a bad thing, but it’s currently the most effective way to make gold and it requires a certain class/spec/armor set.
You can easily obtain zerk gear by running CoF P1 as a non speed run, then P2.
p1 1st run = 60 tokens
p1 2nd run = 30 tokens
p2 1st run = 60 tokens
p2 3nd run = 30 tokens
Total = 180 tokens
Weekly tokens – 1260
Add 1 day = 1440
Full 80 Exo Set cost – 1380
[Edited: Since i counted p3 but never listed it here. Less tokens]
You have 60 tokens to spare.
Where’s the issue? 0 Gold spent on armor and you have your set.
Run for another 3 days and you have a weapon.
Patience is indeed a virtue here. That’s how i put clothes on theback of my warrior and thief. Just mindlessly running CoF day by day.

Interesting topic going on over at Reddit, basically discussing how CoF speed runs make a mockery of every other fractal/dungeon in the game in terms of rewards and gold/hour possibilities.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1d0p09/high_level_fractals_and_the_loot_joy_and_sighs/
What do you think?
Moot point. CoF does not need nerfing at all. It’s a dungeon being run at high efficiency with the most balanced set of builds and characters available. End of story.
Nerf that, and we will find a way to cut Hotw, Coe and SE to a fraction of the time it takes to complete them. And then what? You will want a nerf on those dungeons too?
Let me ask you this, do we need to make the track longer every time Usain Bolt beats his best time? Because this is the same logic being applied to CoF.
My question is – why would you get a refund for not paying enough attention?
If anet did that for everyone, it would be ALL they do.
Pay attention next time, especially with such things. This is neither a game bug nor anything unusual, therefore does not even qualify for support. You made a mistake, own it.
“Gw2 does not have a subscription, whether I spend cash in it depends heavily on whether I am satisfied with the game or not. The level of support I am receiving however, isn’t making me happy at all.”
You sound very entitled.. However what you need to look at is this:
- What happened is your fault. Not the game’s or anet’s.
- You are asking them to do something which is a rare exception to their support process.
The support team most probably have very clear-cut rules about things like this, and if what you are asking for falls outside of the intended support process/guideline – they are fully within their rights to refuse to do what you are asking.
TL;DR
Your fault. Be more careful next time. Stop moaning.

Posted in GW reddit board:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1citm3/60000_uses_before_the_molten_alliance_pick_is/The Molten Alliance pick is a new item in the BLT that is basically an infinite use Orichalcum pick, but it costs 800 gems. I thought that was pretty high and did some math to figure out how long it would take to make that purchase worthwhile, here’s what I found:
Currently it costs over 24g to buy 800 gems. The description of the pick says it’s the same as an orichalcum pick, which sell for 4s. Therefore you could buy at least 600 orichalcum picks for the same price, and at 100 uses each that comes to 60,000 uses. So extrapolating further, if you only mined for your daily, you would need to mine 7 nodes a day [7 nodes X 3 uses per node=21 uses per day] and your MA pick would be profitable in 2857 days, or 7.8 years, if you don’t mine more than that each day.
Im just using estimates here and the cost of gems fluctuates so this isn’t exact, but gives a good idea of whether or not you want to buy one of these new items.
Edit: I was just curious on the math, I am neither condoning nor condemning the item, just looking at the numbers.
I could have told you that this pick was for hardcore miners without doing the math.
Plus it has a cool molten effect, and you can’t put a price on that. :O
Depends on where you wanna go. Thieves and eles aren’t really “in demand” classes but they’re welcome everywhere except in certain COF p1 parties. Both classes have anti-projectile skills so they’re good for FOTM. Thieves are desirable for Sons of Svanir and Dredge fractals.
I’m not sure I still understand why most people want at least 1 heavy armored class in their parties. Any class can take lots of damage, just depends on how they’re built.
People insist on heavy armor professions because they’re conditioned from other games. My mesmer is as survivable as any warrior I’ve ever met. Not sure I’d quite put my mesmer up against a guardian, but I’m not far off.
The aspect of the game under discussion has nothing to do with conditioning from other games. It does have to do with the learning that comes from being an experienced gamer. People adapt and notice what works. The warrior profession is simply good at what it does—damage. Is that enough? No; well maybe in cof1; but, elsewhere most groups find an anchor guardian is helpful around managing aggro and positioning mobs. And, the Berzerker warrior we are talking about is squishy as hell in heavy armor. I don’t know if you’ve played one, but it’s rather surprising how fast the large health pool drains when focused. What people in the thread complaining about glass cannon warriors soloing dungeons fail to understand is that players who can do this invested a lot of deaths (theirs or someone else’s) in learning the fights. And, knowing the fights perfectly they are still one mistake away from death. Be careful of what you take away from youtube—I’ve seen people playing every profession doing amazing things. That doesn’t, however, mean that every profession is ‘amazing’ or even OK. The Berzerker warrior fills a combat role in an emergent ‘trinity’ (don’t worry, your Mesmer is included); it is not therefore necessarily a problem in itself. I’ve suggested elsewhere what the actual ‘problem’ is and ways to address it.
This this this.
I can attest to how shoddy our defences become as zerkers. Consider that with improper dodges and standing around, typical mobs can bring us down to 0 health rapidly. Zerkers are not built for survivability. CoF 1 – The area where you need to kill acolytes – Those mobs can kill you in 3-4 hits (2.4k Armor).
So saying that zerkers are overpowered is unfair. We trade off surivability for huge dps. I think that’s fair.
Realistically i’d like the following:
Rangers:
*GS Skill 2 replaced with some sort of multi hit skill, akin to those used by guardians and warriors
*Pet AI improved (I’m being realistic, they won’t fix it any time soon)
*2-3 util skills added.
Engi’s:
*Let them use daggers or hammers (like someone suggested in an earlier post)
- Add a skill that throws mines in an 180 arc and sets them as traps.
Thieves:
*Infiltrator’s arrow – Increase range to 150-200, because at the moment I can almost roll the distance which it provides. Not very useful…
Fix Rewards and Loot Drops (slightly higher percentages perhaps or more varied drops of the same tier, so don’t do “Rares more often” but more rares in general)
I can’t think of anything else atm..
So… don’t farm cof?
I mean really, you want to jump on the cof farmtrain and don’t want to work for it.
Outside of cof p1 no one really pays any attention to classes, only that you need like 1 guard in fractals.
You are jumping to extremes. Where did I say not to farm CoF? Post in LFG, saying you want to run P1, no speed run, looking for varied group. You will get the joins, believe me.
Doing CoF IS working for it. It’s just way more efficient.
Think about it for a second. If I told you to to sum up 6 months worth of expenses, will you do it on a sheet of paper using a pencil and no calculator, or will you open up excel and do it in a fraction of the time? Right tools for the right jobs, that’s all this is, and I’m truly sorry only a minority can see this.
You can do CoF in any way you please, as long as you make it clear to the group you want to run with. You can do extended farming, killing every living thing in there, or doing a speed run. It’s your choice, but I don’t believe you have the right to judge speed runners because of the way they like to play the game.
please stop already. whining because other class is better than yours in one path of one dungeon is ridiculous. calling for a nerf is stupid.
fix is not nerfing, but making content that actually rewards other styles of play except dps. focus on this instead of being jealous.
do you wanna feel useful or want others to also feel useless?
Well said.
This thread is nothing more then the daily over reaction because someone wanted a certain class that the OP wasn’t playing. I have 4 80’s, none of them are Zerker Warriors and I have never ever had any problem finding a group for any dungeon. Just another over reaction thread, if you check the LFG site you’ll see just how full of it the OP is. There are some posts wanting 1 class, but they’re the vast minority.
I don’t get where these people are coming from. You can find plenty of varied groups to do any dungeon you want. So it happens – when you have a busier time, when most people do CoF runs, no big deal.
More to the point, OP’s post is extremely subjective and one-sided.
These ads (and the one example I could find in this thread was not a shining example…) are a short version of – " I want it done quickly, by people who know what they’re doing, I want to maximize my reward and minimize the time investment" <- this right here, is smart and logical.
And I don’t think it’s right to say that whomever said this is an kitten.
This person posted an ad, stating what he wants – if you don’t fit the description – jog on.
If you do – join. But don’t become all sanctimonious about how they’re excluding people.
It’s their freedom to choose who they run with and you have no right judging them for it.
To date nobody told me what is so offensive about OPs in LFG telling you what they expect from the offset?
Completely agree since mesmers are not expected to contribute much by way of DPS, you should have told those l33t warriors they did not do their job. I do believe OP was unlucky enough to become the scapegoat for their mistakes.
An efficient run of CoF P1 is 5m30s – 6m for comparison. Next time you see those warriors – tell them to l2p. :P
If I am not mistaken, you must be in a fixed group and maxed everything to the hilt to get 5 min 30s – 6 min consistently and not have a single mistake when it comes to the effigy + cleared the acolytes without any random CC affecting any of the team.
Correct. And 5m 30s is the “ideal” time, but it’s not always constant.
The biggest problems arise in two areas:
1 – The boulder room, where is the mesmer screws up the portal, we lose time.
2 – The last boss, because if we screw up stability, we lose time.
Other than that, it’s all rather easy, albeit tedious.
Then again what’s the alternative? If i want to gear my alts, and get say – Valkyrie gear which I can’t get with tokens, I need gold.
Now I am not prepared to waste time farming Orr for days hoping I’ll get lucky with Exotic drops or whatnot. So if I can make 40g in a day of playing, why not?
It’s efficient, it gets me what I want, in the time frame that’s acceptable to me and most importantly, I don’t have to resort to exploits, hacks or cheating.
It’s just a very logical way of earning gold for me.
Let me clarify – If I want to do P1 in a very fun, social way, I’d take my guardian, jump into a pug and do it in 10-15m while socializing with the guys in the group. However making money fast, to get what I want quickly is my preferred way of doing things. I enjoy GW2 much more when my characters have some sort of financial security. :P
If I were you I would’ve kicked those guys first.
10 mins is way too long for a cof1 speed run.
Completely agree since mesmers are not expected to contribute much by way of DPS, you should have told those l33t warriors they did not do their job. I do believe OP was unlucky enough to become the scapegoat for their mistakes.

Ba-dum-tsssss…
Hi,
Just a quick note, ever since the downtime today I cannot represent any guilds, as well as the one I’ve created. Whenever I click the rep button, it does nothing. Tried restarting the client and all…
Any suggestions?
Or use this: http://gw2stuff.com/events/
Just choose the server at the top bar. This timer is better than that of GWTemple because it shows the event updates over time, giving you a fairly good idea of when the event is really due to start. So trolling this timer is much harder considering there’s statistical trends showing up at the bottom which you can use to judge when the thing’s gonna pop up.
Innocent bunnies you say?
They all must die!
Laurels.
A very descriptive response. Thanks.
Do you mean that’s the incentive? Well if it is, it changes nothing. If anything it proves my point.i would bet he meant its a must, not an incentive. there is a difference. idk to be honest…
Why is that a “must”? Who is forcing their hand? I never saw a post from anet stating this is mandatory. Where is this mentality coming from.
Laurels.
A very descriptive response. Thanks.
Do you mean that’s the incentive? Well if it is, it changes nothing. If anything it proves my point.
The only issue I have with this “nerf” is that you cannot use them instantly. An internal cooldown is possible to code without making it like a engineer toolbelt skill. These could have been used to get you out of tough situations. Now you will die by the time you activate one.
However they were easy to exploit. Just stand and spam-click and you gain perma invisibility. So fully understandable why they did it. It was just executed in a very overcomplicated fashion.
Personally they could be like most skills. Use it once, and the icon in the inventory becomes greyed out until the CD ends.
Oh there was also an exploit for the ash legion kits, which allows you to move while in stealth. If you lightly tap a direction button while in stealth in short bursts, you can sort of nudge yourself to one direction without breaking the stealth field. Not efficient enough for most people, but still, worth mentioning.
The GW2 dev team seem to have a fixation with dailies now – and this is a trend that I find somewhat disturbing, especially for a game that was touted as “above all that”
I invite you all to watch the GW2 dev manifesto, in case you’re interested in a good laugh:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35BPhT-KI1EWe were promised something different – and yet here is A-net, encouraging people grind away for dumb rewards. Did the same dev team that made this manifesto ALSO make the game? ‘cause it’s like GW2 is suffering from massive bipolar disorder.
I’ll say it one more time: “Dailies” are not gameplay. There is no difference between having a quest NPC tell you to “kill 10 centaurs” and have a daily objective of “10 underwater kills” – THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.
I don’t care that there are dailies. I get that a lot of people are into that… but the focus of GW2 (As stated in the manifesto) was something bigger, and deeper… So far I haven’t seen that. C’mon A-net – you can do better than this. This isn’t why a majority of us are playing GW2, or got into the series in the first place.
There’s a huge flaw in your understanding of daily achievements.
Here’s why:
Dailies are not meant to be done in a hour (they can be, of course, and even quicker than that). They are by no means obligatory.
They are there so you are rewarded as you explore the world, join events and do other tasks you would normally be doing.
Dailies are not there to substitute quests. And they are not there to give you a challenge. It’s an extra reward layer for those day-to-day tasks you do with your friends. Crafting, gathering, killing, events, all these things are being done by people on a daily basis. This is a way to reward those people for just playing the game.
Here’s my understanding of what some categories are trying to encourage you to do:
Daily Kill Variety:
As you walk about the game world, you inevitably run into hostile creatures and you (quite obviously) kill them. Which adds to the daily percentile for this task. By design the daily variety encourages the player to visit different areas in the game world and kill a variety of different creatures. As you do this, you are exploring. And as you are exploring, you are enjoying (hopefully) the beautiful scenery, the fights and rewards.
Daily events:
Ties in with the variety, assuming your wandering around will take you to more places than only between queensdale and kessex. You will inevitably stumble upon events as you travel. This encourages you to participate in the events. ON top of adding to the daily completion, you actually get karma, exp and money for them. And only 5 are needed.
Underwater Slayer:
Again, same as with the Daily Kill Variety, you are encouraged to dive into the nearest body of water and seeing as you will be killing stuff anyway, why not do it underwater. There’s always a chance you will stumble into an area you’ve never been to before or find a skill point in the depths of the ocean or whatever. Plus this ties in nicely with the DKV.
Daily gatherer.
Easy to do and preps you for the daily crafter. You will never be standing still, so why not chop down a tree or mine some ore on the way to an event? By the time you complete this, you will have enough mats to complete the daily crafter. Two birds one…Axe i guess.
Daily Crafter:
Not many people are into it. I suppose this was an incentive to get people warmed up for crafting. But as the system itself is not very useful until later levels, I can understand the lack of interest in this one. However doing the daily gatherer makes this a easy one.
We can go on and on, but the point is, these tasks are there to provide you with a purpose, even if for a short amount of time.
This is more a reward for you doing random things throughout the game world. You would normally be crafting something, why not reward you for it? Gathering materials? More progress toward the daily reward.
From the empirical evidence found in game, its easy to see how our community has become so impatient with these things. Be it trading levelling by playing for craft levelling, or running a newly opened dungeon until you hit the level ceiling (Fractals) before anyone else.
Prime example, guild missions have been released, what, a day ago? Someone’s done them already. Good on them, but won’t it be boring when you run out of things to do because you’re speeding through the content?
Everyone has to be the first one to do this or that, get the best gear, the newest armor skin, the prettiest looking exotic weapon. Nobody gives a kitten about the journey to get there. And then you complain?
Maybe it’s me, but this new generation of gamers have serious issues or ADHD.
Take your time, do it slowly. You will enjoy it more. (heh..there’s a sexual reference in there somewhere..)
well the real question is what is the point of multi-boxing anyways i mean its pretty much a cheat and useless
I’m not sure which “version” of multi-boxing you are referring to, but generally multi-boxing is me using my laptop beside my pc, both running a copy of GW2 with two different accounts, and multi-tasking by doing events with two chars. If this is what you are referring to:
1) Not a cheat.
Why? – Because the person doing this is just better at multi-tasking and imho deserves to play however he/she want. If it was two different people doing this, nobody would even care. But if everything is done by a single person who bought two accounts of GW2, that’s suddenly a cheat.
2) Not useless.
Double the fun, double the challenge and double the loot. Not.Useless.
Again, my reply here is only valid considering this is not being done via a program.
If it is, then this has nothing to do with skill and my reply is moot. (Point two still applies without the “challenge” part)
ok here is a question for you all… what is your opinion of multi-boxing?
I think it is fine, provided that there’s no involvement from 3rd party programs, other than, say some hack allowing you to run two instances of the game on one pc. If you have the hardware to run it, it should be something that’s allowed.
Next they’ll make Kohler a mandatory fight.
I would like this actually….
Ditto. Only nubs skip Kholer. He’s so incredibly easy, there’s no reason to skip him, either.
This. Kholer is insanely easy. Unskilled players skip him all of the time, and he should be mandatory to complete the dungeon.
Actually skipping kholer is more to do with not wanting to waste time on a non mandatory fight. Nothing to do with skill. He gives nothing of value.
Make him mandatory i say. Why give people the option? He’s not a chance encounter like the troll.
Frankly this came as a shock to me. Nothing in AC needed “revamping”. We went in with 3 people on skype and 2 pugs. It took as much time on ghost eater as it did to GET to ghost eater.
I mean, yes it’s a nice change, but jesus h christ guys, you prolonged the dungeon that was long enough already. The reward you get is not nearly enough for the amount of work you are asking players to do, and last but certainly not least, if new people are doing this, they will be discouraged from doing dungeons most probably.
Arenanet…stahp..
Hi,
This is the second time I get this issue, perhaps someone can assist.
Issue Description:
After logging out of the game and logging back in, I can no longer change camera angle by holding down the right mouse button. I can do everything else but that.
* Undesirable way of fixing:*
Re-installing guild wars 2 fixes this.
* [EDIT] Found another fix:*
Deleting the “Local.dat” file fixes this also.
Any input is appreciated.
Suggest keeping this somewhere amongst other bugs for people to refer until patched.
(edited by RageQuit.5687)
wow then 2 things. i just cannot make a build. and i suck.
Yeah you do.
Learn: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/75020-my-final-axemace-dps-dungeon-build/
You have the potential of having your warrior reach 3.5k attack rating without might stacks.
Granted this is not a pvp build, it’s just not viable for that. But try it in dungeons – you will love the damage output on this. It’s a pure GC, but with practice you will never go down unless you’re being a reckless buffoon.
Strife said in his guide that mace is good for control and trash mobs, but tbh, GS takes care of that. And you can use OMM for vuln.
HB does a minimum of 21k, 30k with full might stacks. (Assuming crit lands more often than not)
Eviscerate from axe will drop about 15-20k
Usual way of downing most mobs is – charge adrenaline, (immobilize is optional) then:
Whirlwind through mob > Rush to get back to the mob > HB > Switch to Axes > Eviscerate > Axe Whirling Attack, by now your GS skills (definitely HB) would have recharged. Rinse and repeat.
A quicker version of the combo is just HB > EVISC > WHIRL > HB (but by now anything but champions or vets will be dead)
If you are planning to run fractals or dungeons like TA/AC, get a berserker rifle P/P/Cdmg
the burst on it is sweet, plus you have vuln and bleed skills with it. Those need you to range sometimes, and for a GC, it’s sometimes good to own mobs from a distance. (Especially in TA)
Don’t rely on bleed though, since the build is not a condition one, if anything you’ll be adding to someone’s bleed stack by a bare minimum.
This combo has insane damage output. Enjoy your new found love for warrior.

NO for reasons probably listed in one or more of these posts.
However, what should be considered is this:
Instead of introducing a higher level cap, introduce another tier of armor and weapons in the expansion. Progression stat-wise would be better.
Or introduce a sort of passive skill tree like in Path of Exile.
It would complement the current trait bars and could be used to interesting effects i think.
lots of stupid threads today
True. kittening about gameplay changes that aren’t new to the game seems to be the usual thing here.
The dungeon waypoint change is going to wreak havoc on pugging, I predict. If you don’t go in with an experienced, coordinated group, dungeons are going to take much, much longer.
When someone gets downed next to a boss, attempting to rez them is often suicidal, meaning once that first down happens, everyone else might as well hang it up and run away instead of being able to continue fighting knowing their buddy will soon be back in the fight.
Who was so-called waypoint-rushing hurting? Nobody, that’s who. This is a change tyrannically forced on us because it doesn’t mesh with some peoples’ vision of proper gameplay, but will only add frustration to many players’ game experience without being of real benefit to anyone, because the now-forbidden tactic could always be freely rejected.
This will especially discourage groups from including players without much experience in that particular dungeon, for fear of a drastic increase in the time needed to complete the dungeon. What mechanism will work against this bad result?
How is this a worthy use of development time when the game still includes so many bugs that actually impede players?
So you’ve never done fractals then?
It’s the same concept. And they’re very doable with pugs. I don’t see this having too big of an impact to dungeon running. Not any more than fractals does.
I think the servers where this is stored feel a little abused right now.
Still can’t justify this 600kbps speed… What the duck?
[Edit] – Onto 2mbps.. Annnd all is well with the world again.
This is what will eventually happen to southsun cove:
http://imgur.com/XfBMb
Made it just for you guys.
I’m not a farmer nor am I actively going for any legendary/ascended gear at the moment, so this really doesn’t affect me, but I do feel somewhat bad for anyone who was trying to keep quiet about this. I think they have a valid reason to be upset, and to accuse them of being selfish goldsellers seems unfounded. As helpful as this thread was trying to be, I am almost certain that ArenaNet is going to nerf these drop rates and everybody loses in the long run. Prices will go up again, but you’ll be forced to buy them this time as the alternative is no longer a viable option. I believe THAT is the real issue with this post.
Oh well, at least Southsun will have tourism now.
Tourism? Mate, you just gave me an idea.. I’ll start selling Karka-Parka’s for like 10s.. I’ll make a killing.
Lol, I’m prepared to accept my ranger’s role as Aquaman, but I refuse to wear scales and spandex!
@Ragequit: if your interpretation is correct and that dip is due to this post, then keep bumping my friend! Cheap powerful blood on the market? Yes please!
I wonder if we can affect ecto’s like this.
As the previous post got bumped the hell down, here’s a histogram of what happened as of this thread:
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/24295
To be honest most people I know never went there because it’s boring.. But this is an incentive for them to do so.
That spike in cost of powerful blood is probably due to the new ascended gear though, not the existence of Southsun Cove (which should only drive the prices down). I know I for one am farming there to get powerful blood for a quiver.
That’s not a spike, it’s a dip. And it happened this morning. Prices were 14 S, went down to 12, now back up at 13. I am not fully convinced there’s a correlation between this thread and the market (hence my “as of this thread” not “because of..”)
But it’s just an interesting piece of info how in a few hours there was a move in the market “allegedly” because of this topic.
As the previous post got bumped the hell down, here’s a histogram of what happened as of this thread:

Since posted, Vial of Powerful Blood dropped by 2s.
This tickles my inner economist.
Also, for future reference – If someone finds a good farming spot, for the love of kittens, please spread the news via in game channels (avoiding map chat) and don’t post here because:
1 – Will be nerfed into oblivion.
2 – Instant market change (http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/24295) check the histogram.
We’re not keeping quiet about these things because we don’t want people to know.
We’re doing it because we don’t want this kitten nerfed.
I’ll bite. Only because I’m bored as kitten..
Obvious troll is obvious.
See my comments below in bold. Just for giggles.
inb4 anything. Got into a 1v1 with a GC thief whilst on my guardian. Fumbled his opener (because it’s so friggin’ obvious) And he was dead in under a minute. L2p brah..
No no, it should be labelled “Thief is OP.”
A lvl 1 thief with the white starting dagger can hit for 1k, could you do that on a mesmer? a warrior ?
Pics or didn’t happen
a lvl 80 with a balanced build will find it hard to hit for 1k+ ( i said balanced build morons, look it up … yeah I had to repeat myself because I am well aware of the general IQ of this game’s population )
Again, this statement is false. I run a balanced guardian, T/P is near identical and I hit 2-3k. Are you pulling these statements out of your ar5e?
How much does a lvl 80 thief hit for ? Surely anything below 4k is shameful by thief standards right ? “Oh but they’re glass cannon builds” yeah warriors used to have that luxury of glass cannon and greatswords, but Arena Net nerfed them into the dust. Not the thief though, oh no, you don’t mess with thief class unless you wanna get banned, or have your posts in the forums deleted like Arena net has / does.
Pure GC thief will hit about 10-14k combined on his opener, crit dmg and chance notwithstanding.
That’s three hits on a D/D. Anything not made of paper can recover from this unless he puts basilisk venom on. Skill 1 on D/D is anywhere from 400 to 1k dmg, crits land about 2-3k per hit. HS at 1/4 hp will spam 4-6k per hit rounded. FYI S/P thieves will do better as they can spam pistol whip and land about 6-7k per use. If you freeze up during this, you’re dead.
I think players who are not playing thieves perceive them as this unstoppable force.
I look the same way at mesmers to be honest. I never rolled one, and the thing’s some people can pull off with one leave my char on the floor more often than not. So what?
Fight enough thieves, or whatever class, and you will eventually know the most popular moves used against opponents, and will be able to get an edge in the fight.
It’s this imbecilic argument we see over and over – someone gets repeatedly killed by a certain class, they think – “Well I’m surely the best player in GW2, and I’ve just had my butt handed to me time and time again, despite the fact that I spammed 1/2 really hard!! Surely this means this class I lost to is overpowered”. Complaints and flamewars ensue.
Someone above mentioned that the thief lacks utility skills. And I must agree, I’d gladly agree to a dip in my thieve’s damage if it meant I could have those as a trade-off.
The great thing about playing a thief is the do or die moment where you either finish your target quick, or die if you don’t. Simple. And conversely for the “victim” it’s those crucial seconds that count – avoid the opener or subsequent pistol whips and kill the thief or freeze and die.

It just changed…. Obsessive much?
Frankly – I’m not giving up on Mesmer.
I simply want our favourite class’ numerous bugs finally fixed.
That is all.it has been just demonstrated that they’re not going to fix mesmer bugs though,
They’re going to slap bandaids over it that make the profession worse and just make it harder to trigger the bugs in the first place
Well that’s an assumption you’re making here. If they had no interest in eventually fixing this, why bother with the “band-aid” in the first place.
There’s a lot they need to fix, I think some crap just gets prioritised over the rest.
I can’t imagine why Mesmers were taken as priority, but hey, what’s been done is nothing catastrophic. IMO they should have focused on ranger or engineer, even thief since they need a tweak or two. But hey…
People are jumping the gun here. The game is 4 months old, with frequent patches coming out, patience is key here.
At the moment I see just this:
- A class got some changes done to it and everyone that plays it went apekitten without first finding out whether there’s a way to compensate for the assumed loss in playability.
- The forums here are turning into post-launch Diablo 3 forums. Where the majority of complaints come from people who either don’t play the class or don’t even own the game. For the sake of whining.
- This happens every time something gets changed, and people are not even providing their opinions in a constructive manner. Out of all the posts I’ve seen today, not one had any arguments backed with any data to support the claim that Mesmer is now, for lack of a better word – Effed. ANet won’t even look at those threads, which renders all of that moaning moot.
Oh god here we go again:
– My class got changes made to it, and I can no longer get cheap wins with minimal effort. Baaaaaw…
Can’t wait for the kittenstorm if thieves ever have some tweaks done to them. GW2 will lose 90% of their player base.
Mfw even with these changes applied my friend can still 1v4 with Mesmer.

Edit: Regarding dungeons – It’s still very much viable. It’s just funny how some people would rather moan about this, than learn to adapt to the change and come up with another strategy to compensate.

I would say yes, but you would need 2 PC or possibly some Virtual Machine setup
Won’t work on virtual machines. Something like virtualbox has it’s own graphics drivers for the VM, it’s not meant to be able to play something like GW2.
You might be able to “trick” the launcher into launching twice though.
FYI – You need to just find them. Not complete them. Case in point, walked up to the karka puzle with the steam stones – insta-point.
That particular part of the monthly is the easiest.
Ive seen alot of people say this, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. I actually have to go into the JP.
Well yes, you have to reach the very start of the puzzle. but you don’t, I repeat, DON’T need to complete it.
Here’s a guide if you’re having problems:

I think it’s worth mentioning that only certain builds for a warrior are “easy”.
If anything the Guardian is the most generic and noob-friendly.
I suggest the following:
Mesmer for PVP/WvW and Elementalist for PVE
Mesmer’s are great fun; Watching someone pound on your illusions thinking it’s you.
Thieves are also amazing in PVP and WvW, and a lot more annoying than mesmers.
Elementalists have one quirk I cannot get used to – the lack of switch-able weapon sets.
Yes – they swap elements instead, but as stated in one of the earlier posts – you need to get used to them to play properly. Great PVE class.
I would advise against engineer as her first character. Think assassin from Diablo2/3, that’s pretty much what an engineer is. Traps, bombs, turrets and a limited selection of weaponry. More of a strategist’s preferred character.
Necromancer’s (most of them) seem to be geared towards Well/Condition builds for PVP, but to be honest I play a Necro and so far it’s been more spamming AOE’s than it was being strategic and “devious”.
I have a stack of black lion kits, and have been using them since launch on rares. I’m pretty familiar with the return rate of ectos. Something changed very recently though.. Ok, my sample size is not very big, granted, but an average of 1 ecto out of 4 golds, I’ve NEVER seen that. Anyone else noticed a difference?
There’s no empirical evidence to support your claim. BLSK are worse at rare recovery. Buy master kits from NPC vendors.
I concur with the above humans and can confirm GW2 runs fine on W8
really Arenanet , some of the bugs in this beautifull game are there from day 1 and are still not fixed . i dont think i have to name them all to you because you probably know better then i whats bugged and whats not BUT i will mention the ones i hate the most
.
the events to open Arah , bugged verry often and its a pain in the … , WHY? because its something we all have to do to complete our personal story .
a small one , but since im lvling a lot of characters and once im doing a area i want to complete them , making this a little irritating bug ’The cow cannon ’ this vista is bugged on and off for months now .
also a strange bug and never fixed is the fact that i have to move around like a neurotic madman to hit stationary things like supply carts and other things i have to destroy for events (with a mellee character) if i just go and stand next to them and i try to hit it then i miss all the time ,when i step hit step hit step hit i can destroy them but its freaking anoying .
there are manny more of these irritating bugs which im not going to mention but i bet others will do that for me
sorry i posted this in the wrong place , pls move it to the bugs forum
To add to your list – There seems to be a bug which plagues my Guardian.. Without getting CC’d, he gets “stuck” in one place. I checked conditions and none were active. And I basically cannot move unless I use my GS leap skill.. No biggie while exploring. But annoying as kitten during Cursed Shores events.
12k? Screenshot or it didn’t happen.
@RageQuit:
nVidia’s drivers are fine. It would be nice if they’d open them up (both for them and for everyone else), but they work perfectly well. What you’re having issues with is WINE’s DirectX->OpenGL translator. I wouldn’t be suprised if that’s the biggest bottleneck in playing on Linux atm.
See L4D2 for an example of performance for something that isn’t using that.
Apologies, I did make a mistake on that statement. I am kitten off though… Linux is such a great system, the lack of games for it inexcusable..
Well, it’s pretty kitten excusable. After all Linux has like 1.5% of the desktop market. With the rate at which it’s growing though, I doubt it’ll be exusable in 2013. In unrelated good Linux news, Dungeon Defenders was released on Linux, and that means Icculus finally completed his Unreal Engine 3 port, which in turn means more games.
P.S. @whoever at ANet came up with using ‘kitten’ as a swear word replacement, I kitten love you, you hilarious sons of kittens.
Yes.. It’s hard not to give a kitten.
