You seem passionate about the game. Don’t be. You will only be left with frustration and anger. ANet doesn’t care (they don’t even have a CM to monitor these forums, so nothing we can say here will ever reach them, ever) and they won’t do anything but spouting big lies (they seem to do OK in that department: I believe they failed in politics before ending at ANet).
Three reasons:
1. Reaper is on the lower end of skill floor. To be completely honest, you don’t have to be that great of a player to have a decent performance as a Reaper.
2. The counter to Reaper is not so much a build as it is tactics. Lower skilled players see Reaper as overpowered because they haven’t figured out how to take on an opponent in anything outside of a straight-up brawl, which Reaper is designed to be absurd in. Any profession can beat a Reaper, but it does take thinking.
3. Necros as a whole throw a monkey wrench in how people like to play. From neutering healing with poison and screwing up rotations entirely with Chill to laughing at your Stability and Protection that you were relying on. Necros force people to change their play by screwing with them. People hate being weakened in games, and Necros are the kings of debuffing (always have been, even across games).
This post just drools with arrogance. 10/10.
Imagine if Chronomancer allowed for Continuum Split (F5) but sacrificed one (or a few) of the shatter skills in it’s place? Then mesmers would all cry out that (rightfully) mechanics have to be sacrificed to play the new elite spec. So why does reaper forcefully replace an existing mechanic? Isn’t the point of the elite specs to unlock more mechanics?
Oh no, trade-offs! Anything but that~! ;-;
Are you serious or kidding? ? No mater what anet does, we only see 5 classes used per game dude. So class poyential/traits/skills has nothing to do with what people would rather run. It all comes down to preference/ synergy.
And how do you know it’s not Anet priority?? Do you work them or have you been breached about something we aren’t supposed to know?? Finally, what do you think the patches are about?
I’d say that after three years of sparse balance patching and continued power creep it should be pretty obvious that balance isn’t a top priority. Also the fact that they don’t have a dedicated balance team on staff.
Add to that bugs being in the game since launch unaddressed, skills that have never seen serious use, weapons and traits in desperate need of rework and nothign being done about it.
In any of the semi final games. We saw 1 mesmer and 1 ranger.
7 Revs
4 Eles
4 Necro
3 Engi
1 Mesmer
1 RangerLOL funny
And this is exactly what happens when ongoing profession and “role” development is mostly ignored.
Players have been begging from beta for the devs to seriously work on professions, weapons, skills, traits, roles, certain combat mechanics… but it’s not a priority.
GW2 could be the top fantasy game for classes and combat, but that will never happen. I’ve never seen such potential wasted.
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
Anyone who played Revenant during beta weekends knew the class was going to be broken as hell.
The highest autoattack dps in game, their teleport is tied to an immunity window and does about 3-4x as much as a mesmer’s blurred frenzy, which is stationary and doesn’t give you 7 might stacks.
Medium health, high armor, the best heal in the game with glint, ridiculous access to quickness individually, and the one class able to passively stack 10 might and perma fury on himself before an engagement.
Revenant is like a thief with high armor, even better defenses, and more HP.
It is the culmination of all the class feedback for previous crappy core classes, made into an improved new class.
Meanwhile core classes only got elite specs as a real improvement.
easy solution
BUFF jalis and ventari for more variety !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O_O nowwwwwwwwww
Well if we put it this way;
Hammer revs = 0
Jalis revs = 0
Ventari revs = 0
Non herald (core) revs = 0
Sword offhand = 0 (which i dont understand as shield is crap compared to sword oh atm)
Mallyx = idk, still carried by herald, crap on it own.
Ofc trying to ask for a buff to these will get you killed lmao
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
Lol at all the bad ele players
“ohmugerd anet might as well delete ele! We’re trash tier without the 40% extra stat cele amulet to carry us, ele wont be run at all now!”
Yeah…..ok….
#NeedsMorePowerCreep
This is ArenaNet, the only way they know how to nerf is by power creeping everything else.
This concept was my major gripe with HoT back during the BWEs and the initial launch. They failed to deliver on their own design philosophy for how the elite specializations were supposed to work. Not only that though, but even throughout the BWEs where classes were shown early-access playtime with the community, it seemed no one questioned it or bat an eye at it even though we were still in the literal middle of the development phase where this concept was supposed to be the most prevalent, which means not only did they fail to deliver on their philosophy immediately, but the community in general didn’t even care. Now we have an outcry of “power creep” in the community and most people couldn’t even tell you why.

I agree, there are many awesome skills with huge impact such as feedback, gravity well or time warp, aswell as countless other weapon and utility skills. But there are aswell “those skills” barely someone uses. Nullfield, utility phants, some phants in general etc etc blabla. In the end yes, there are skills with lack of impact. I totally agree with you about Chaos Storm – such an amazing animation and sound, huge CD and then … so little impact
Sadly we are not the only ones here – Ranger barely has any good utility skills, same goes for warrior and thief. They use all the same “few good skills”. Every profession has these problems and I have to say we are one of the professions with the most useful skills.
They should rework many old skills, in fact they should simply take a look at ALL of them once in a while … :/

“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
Mesmers can put out so many clones in such rapid succession. Currently there is a small reward to opponents who risk taking focus off the mesmer to kill it’s clones. Increasing clone durability would remove that reward and something else would have to be toned down instead, such as… stealth access or duration?

Not trying to generate even more hate for druid, I’m just wondering how many people are in the same boat as myself. Looking at my current ranger I feel using the druid spec would be a waste of my 3 trait lines, and as much fun as I am having with HoT I don’t feel like I have as much to work towards as other specs. As someone who has no interest in completing the “holy trinity” and being a healer it essentially means there is no ranger elite spec for myself (and others who think this way). It feels like the other elite specs aren’t as one-sided as druid, about how many of you out there are sticking to core ranger? I myself am loving pure melee ranger
I’d argue Reaper and Dragon Hunter is in the right. They’re intended to be unique sub-classes. Classes which only gain and lose nothing broke the whole idea of Elite specializations if you ask me. Something should have been given up for each.
As such I don’t really think Reaper should get to chose, nor do I think Virtues should be chosen between.
And frankly, I do think Chronomancer should have altered shatters.
Some, like Druid are a little bit tricky, but I don’t think enough was given up. It’s part of why Elite specs are considered power creeps, many just gained in power, and in the cases where it didn’t happen, you find that RS just overshadows the base shroud instead. The sub classes should have been far more unique overall, otherwise the base class just loses identity and purpose.
You go tothe elementary school. You gain some knowledge adapted to this grade. Right? Now, you go in university. Do you lose what you learn in elementary school? No, it’s same here. Why necro loses death shroud whereas others professions lose nothing? (except Guardian)
They are specialized. A specialized person does not have the same breadth of knowledge, they have a more defined set of knowledge.
Now, regardless of semantics and how you want to spin things. The devs said the intention of Elites were to basically be “unique sub classes” that played differently than the core. That’s what their own goal was, and it made sense, to not introduce and obvious power creep you’d suspect something given up for the unique gains.
So far, only two classes even delivered on that, so sure, it might feel a bit off-putting as a Reaper or DH, but at its core, they’re the only ones that stayed true to the design philosophy and better overall design execution.

It doesn’t really need improvement so much as the top echelons of PvP are all filled with fast characters and people with very fast reflexes and good mechanics to punish low speed or openings.
We could punish fast characters and people with very fast reflexes in counterpart of that (balance begin like that) thanks to huge AOE, debuff, crowd control. Possibilities are limitless.

This is obviously more of a personal opinion than anything else but… I really don’t like how elite specializations function. It feels to me that, to be as comparatively effective as everyone else, you are forced to use the elite specializations. It has been a while now and it seems like everybody is still using them in pvp and pve. They were hyped as a different way to play but they just feel outright better to me. Assuming this is true, this has implications for those who choose not to buy HoT in that they are inherently kitten because they didn’t purchase the expansion. Of course, you there are some viable builds that don’t use elite specializations but I feel like there has to be a larger skill difference for them to work well. Maybe it will get better after the next elite specializations are released. Maybe I will feel like I have options again.
I would just like to reiterate that these are personal opinions about the way the game makes me feel. If you want to discuss this, great! If not, then I don’t have the energy to mess with trolls. Thank you!
You had time to create 3 new threads on the forum the last 3 hours.
yeah only today is free day for me ^.^
I reserved this day to test things out
My Stream : http://www.twitch.tv/eSportsKorea see me vs Tarcis, Chaith, Crysis and etc!
According to a person with DPS meter he did 6k dps with dagger 4.6k on sword and 4.7k on staff.
Why has it been buffed this much?
If dagger was kept as it was it would’ve been the same dps as sword and staff auto but would have been still the best because it is the quickest which makes it very resilient against blinds, blocks and gives a greater chance to proc sigils/traits and ofc easier to land between dodges, blocks, etc.. It also has useful bonuses like endurance and poison.
What about letting people play with sword for once? S/D is the most fun weaponset after all.(statistically)

6k+ PvP games
I personally don’t think so with the amount of boon spam there is in any given group fight in Spvp or even WvW.
As a Thief I agree that this AA dmg is wrong and disappointing. I was hoping my Sword AA would outshine my Dagger AA. Buff Sword to 6k, Nerf Dagger and buff Backstab instead. :P
Buff Condi too. Add burn and SB condi AA.
Funny part nobody asked for it, all we asked for is better way to land dmg and give us ability to live longer than 1 sec in all that aoe spam.

At least thieves now won’t boast about how their class requires skill and tactics, it’s plain stealth 1111.
btw, i don’t get it.
they buffed AA, which is ok, but buffed Too much, and the most, the dagger build, which is already the top thief meta build ( blind abuse + stealth ).
Mah… as thief ( and expecially as Staff Thief ) i am disappointed.
@evilek: i said cause characters have different armor, and i dont know the ind one what kind of target could be. Btw, tried with all 3 golems and as said before, the dagger damage is op ( hope in a good nerf before s2 starts ).

Guess Anet forgets why they cut down thief’s damage in the first place back then zzz.
15K backstab anyone?
And wait for the biased cancerous players come defend thief.
I have one question. Who test this patche before release ?
Revenant with full berserker gear and full DPS build vs Thief with same armor/traits.
Thief
Dagger AA DPS – 6k!!!!!
Sword AA DPS – 4.6k
Staff AA DPS 4.7k
Revenant
Sword AA DPS 3.2k !!!

Now, endorsing the consumption of 10.000 alchoolic beverages is something completely different.
A lot of young people sees this achievement like something cool and in their brains a few barriers will fall against bad drinking habits.
I think the exact opposite will happen.
After consuming (grinding) those 10.000 drinks a lot of players will think “that was not fun.” and because of that there will be a new connection in their brain that connects “drinking a lot” with “not fun”.
