How could Gw2 move forward.

I would also like to point out something very clear to ArenaNet, LoL has over 32 million registered users and well over 3 million concurrent players a day.
Guess how much gear grind and carrot on a stick LoL has.

Maybe instead of totally missing the idea of how a pvp game is done and giving us the shaft by lying to us while introducing all kinds of BS to attract WOW kids.

Consider this, how big is a LoL map, what kind of character types can you play/specs. Now lets take the size and scope of that map ADD 3d to it by creating elevations and making it a single player mmorpg the possibilities for that alone should be endless. Instead you have itty bitty zergy maps a totally meaningless gear grind now and the pvp isn’t even fun much less Esport material.

I mean I am trying to go through the thought process here, I want to create a pvp centric mmo, how do I make pvp addictive and fun. Ok first, small maps, I mean really small, and lets make everyone a “hybrid” but lets make them all play dps specs, also lets really dumb down the specs you can play, and the weapons you can use into a nice prefab and let people switch out weapons out of highly limited choices. Lets add a downed state so unskilled players can have a redo. Also I think we should have one type of really fast and boring pvp game so the already boring combat will make the players mind numb.

But since this is also supposedly a more standard mmo, lets go over what is wrong.
Its too safe, in a casual mmorpg you cannot have Esport pvp without having casual pvp, you cannot have casual pvp without having fun pvp,. The things most carebears would consider grief, ganking etc or world pvp, not that instanced WvW crap are the kind of things that draw in that kind of player base. When is the last time on this game someone bragged about the neat thing in PVP they did to piss someone off, it doesn’t happen, you just roll your condition spec on sPVP and run with the zerg, it lacks depth and doesn’t perk the interest of the casual or theorycrafter. Honestly they don’t even have any thing as fun as a large WOW pvp map, you have a huge WvWvW area.. thats not even as fun as AV.

Then think of this how does EVE online handle a pvp centric game with crafting and do it without gear grind. You are able to advance without doing that because you are able to build a power base of actual things you own. Now how would you go about doing something like that in GW2, in what is supposedly a game with RvR style combat, hmmmmmm. What if instead of gear grind you could work for PVE and PVP war machines, henchmen, any number of things that DO NOT involve some crappy gear grind, actually let a player accumulate a power base instead of the kitten hamster wheel.

So PVP is boring.
PVP lacks theory craft and spec depth.
World structure is badly implemented.
No casual pvp fun.
Crafting lacks meaning or structure.
World is too sterile and safe.

The people who like this need everyone to keep chasing the carrot so gear grinding will be relevant and they know it, we know raiders only make up a few hundred thousand players on every game they play but once they take over populations drop.

They did some very negative things passively with this new gear grind window, and it IS gear progression simply for the fact that to Enjoy the content you have to grind that specific gear you also have to have that specific gear to fight o ff the specific conditions in that dungeon.

In a game where crafting is largely cosmetic it will automatically be devalued by an instituted gear grind. Who is going to spend good money on vanity items when the game is now being turned on its head to appease ##@$% raiders with Phat loots?

With a gear treadmill and infinitely repeatable dungeons, the amount of tiers they can add is limitless. It only took them a few months to introduce one tier of highly specialized Windowed gear and a new dungeon, not only can they enhance the gear levels for that they can do much more harm in a few more months, Ascended level II or some other notch above. People who do pvp and adventure but sometimes want to do dungeons are just screwed. Raiders like that because they can now control the content by using gear gating with the guilds that have it. Its that exact kind of community destroying garbage that makes EQ2 unplayable and why I cannot stand those people.

So what happens 6 months from now after they have introduced 4 more dungeons and just as many new gear levels and each dungeon has some special armor you have to have to survive it, you think everyone interested in world pvp will want to grind all that crap just to do WvWvW? Or will Bioware.. I mean Anet make some half as good WvWvW only “award” gear like in Wintergrasp so you will still be treated like a sub par citizen with slightly better than crap gear. .. they wouldnt be planning some bs like that now would they.
WvWvW has and will now be a continuous carrot on a stick for you to be FORCED to grind new dungeons and get new gear tiers. So basically it is now WORSE than doing 5 mans or dailies in WOW, no you HAVE to do these dungeons to keep your gear up and you will now HAVE to join guilds of people you probably would rather not be dealing with.

And of course after all that happens they still would not have fixed Necromancers or made WvW or sPVP interesting. But don’t worry they will probably introduce gear score, gear score + pug finder, and new dungeon enhancements maybe tokens and probably even dailies before they ever touch anything to do with pvp.

They cant even make pvp unbroken or make it fun for that matter and talk about Esports Jesus, like that will ever happen now, why do they even bother making new sPVP maps when they treat PVPers like crap. They spent all that time to release a gear treadmill when PVP was/is in dire straits. Obviously they are more interested in attracting WOW kids than the existing player base. On top of it all they actually made all their detractors sound correct, all the doom sayers who said Arena Net was a bunch of backstabbing lying kittens who I defended the game against, now look correct, and when the conspiracy theory lunatics are actually right, something has gone seriously wrong.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYsueOW4ixk&feature=related
It didn’t have to be this way GW2 if they had FOCUSED on its strengths sPVP and made more diversity, fixed the broken mechanics so PVP wasnt so one deminsional and spammy they could have held on to a dedicated and stable player base of about 3 million or so casuals and PVPers. Instead they opted to betray those players and cater to Raiders, whom at best can populate a game up to a few hundred thousand on their own ( see EQ2 subs). They are banking on casuals putting up with this crap because they have to know the pvpers are bolting for the door right now. But why would casuals hang around GW2 for gear grinding when RIFT and WAR do gear grinding so much better. Greedy idiots.

You know what else would be new? Introducing a catheter in my pork sword. Would I like it probably not, Ball clamps would also be new as well as a butt plug coated in sand paper those things would also be new. Do I want any of those things? I want those things about as much as I want to watch Steel magnolias while playing with myself with barbed wire.

So believe me when I tell you I want gear loot windows and raid style content about as much as I want rectal exam with a blow torch. I don’t want to even see raider locusts like you in game, or have these conversations, I want to spend time listening to gear grinder QQ about new gear, worrying about gear windows, grinding endless Fking hours either getting or preparing to get Phat lootz just to play the game with a group of Shead MFer kitten Raiders on teamspeak and much as I want to smash my crotch with a hockey stick followed by a fierce pounding with a rusty meat cleaver.

I would like you locusts to go to a game like EVE and explain to then how they “need” gear grinds to stay relevant or what a smash up job introducing that crap to UO and DAOC did for those games populations and how people always talk about how great the game was before some kitten introduced gear grinding so a bunch of WOW locusts could stand AFK in town with new stats and talk about each others moms on trade chat.

We came here to get AWAY from you mfkers not spend quality time with you.

How's the current state of PvP?

Rhydian.5412

No one’s capable of answering how they enjoy PvP these days?

It sucks, because its boring. It seems since the last Beta that spec diversity has actually shrunk, necromancers never really recovered I don’t think, there is really nothing to do besides spam conditions for the most part. Boards are small as well so its just Zerg condition spam. Combat is fast, effects do not last long, focus on damage skills, control, healing, lifedrains, fear are all nutcut compared to damage skills. Translates the same way in WvWvW, no control one big moving zombie zerg. There are very few moments in the game where you will EVER have a 1v1 match in WvW or spvp, and dueling is just not the same, pvp has alot of problems.

Maybe if they had some more casual friendly pvp games to play while they FIX the broken mess that is pvp some people would be able to hang on longer. Like the Hunger games thing they did in beta, cap the flag or something.. anything. But after that last ninja patch I doubt they will hang around much longer.

This will not end well....in my view

I keep saying this to the treadmill care bears get over it. The number of the population who is whining about this is far too low. And majority of the people whining are just being lazy. Had you whined if it was already in the game from the star? This is a mmorpg it evolves remember that in the manifesto? EVER evolving meaning your going to get stronger and need better items.

You can’t side grade that or horizontal it. What did you really want us running around for a year pushing to get skin pallettes. Do you really think that is going to hold a population. If you really did think that work you got some good weed your smoking. Give it a rest with these post because I’m sure they don’t care if care bears leave. And I still don’t see any official sites claiming doomsday. Not a podcast not a blog not mmorpg.com mmosite massively. No where and they are the commercial dollars you whining here means about 2 pennies thrown down the street.

Just being honest with you guys just stop it had to be done get over it or play a ps3/xbox game that ends. A mmorpg will always evolve and have a gear goal. I lol that you guys expected a community to do mad king like events every month. And just change the look of your gear. You couldn’t possibly be that silly and think that lol……O……M…..G

Ah yeh see this is EXACTLY the kind of raider scum I was hoping to get away from. The “this is our game” crap has already started and they Just got their foot in the door. But I have news for you if this game goes all in on the gear treadmill this game wont have the population of Warhammer by the end of it.

Also a carebear is someone who avoids PVP combat, someone probably more like you.
There is nothing hardcore about grinding dungeons.

World pvp was a no no because it “griefed” other players, however griefing non gear grinders with Ascended gear and harassing them with gear score to do dungeon runs, oh thats perfectly fine right?

There has been a clear paradigm shift, most of the core GW2 buyers and Beta testers don’t give a flip about gear grinding or gear score, we had been reeled in with words like, no gear grind, WvWvW, Structured Esport pvp. All of those systems feel rushed and incomplete, entire specs are not possible and its very one dimensional.

And now we have to suffer the Raider crowd telling us how we were not promised anything and that the game is about Dungeons and PVE now, and apparently it is. What a slap in the face.

Look I don’t know about most of you but I had two priorities with this game, it didn’t offer everything I wanted but I had 2 main reasons for coming here. 1 PVP, I like pvp and theorycrafting, both of which leave much to be desired. 2 Get away from Raiders and gear grinders, yes thats right, not even be in the same game with them and well thats gone to now. I guess I am going to have to start playing more pure sandbox style games, raiders don’t have the patience for those, I HAVE to get away from these GD people.

What GW2 essentially promised us 72 virgins in the gaming world and as soon as they had us buy boxes, replaced them all with Justin Bieber in a ninja patch. Thanks alot.

For one it has nothing to do with pvp being balanced, its balanced allright just as long as everyone is playing for conditions or damage, the blandness of the specs and lack of diversity makes it boring not a numbers balance game.

Also Ascended gear is more than just an extra tier of better gear.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
You HAVE to have this stuff for Fractals so its not just a stat bump, which is bad enough as it is. Its windowed very specifically on purpose. And you can bet every locust raider calling for groups is gonna want you maxed out in Ascended Infusion sets which means windowed content, which means exclusion which means FU Arenanet.

Sorry but people have valid concerns about the game, PVP is in a horrible place, Ascended gear and introducing new pve events during what is a pvp disaster was maybe not the best choice. Also all the positive " dont talk about it" people are probably raiders who know that without a sizable population of gear grind slaves chasing a carrot that there will be no one here for them to brag about their gear score.

They did tell us from the very beginning that there would be “pink” items. It’s just now that they’ve actually given them a name. We will probably have a similar uproar when they eventually add in Legendary Armor.

People on the forum seem to feel the need to be overly melodramatic in their posting of their dislike of this new content. Helpful critical feedback tends to get thrown out the window.

Yes and that alone is not the biggest gripe, the biggest gripe is that pvp is boring and broken and they have jumped through hoops introducing new pve gear and maps and such. But pvp is fundamentally screwed, its just bad, its more than simply a matter of bug fixes, its a matter of bad dynamics. And its actually gotten worse. Every aspect of pvp in this game is boring and has become more boring, anything that is not mash button spam spam spam has been kittened. The tactics used in GW2 pvp are the same tactics used in Zombie herds.

There’s a simple resolution to the question. Could you define gear treadmill for me?

Why?

Because we are dealing with an unresolved question: Is it a gear treadmill? I say it is, you say it isn’t. It’s a simple question to answer. If we come up with a definition of “gear treadmill” we can evaluate the introduction of Ascended gear based upon that definition. Then, we won’t have that unresolved question standing between us.

I really don’t care if it is a gear trademill or not. I just think that AC gear is just a great idea. I don’t want to argue who is right and who is wrong in regard of AC gear! So just stop asking about it.

Well we do, I know you loot grind locusts love that crap, thats what we were trying to get away from, we were trying to get away from you and your ilk.

Speaking of which am I the only one still waiting on my refund? I mean I will get off these forums just as soon as I get my money back due to false advertisement.

You came from Diablo III to this ~ I immediately jumped off that failwagon soon as GW2 was launched, arguably the game was much better back then. Obviously, a game has to evolve and obviously, it isn’t going to please everyone all the time – the problem is, it honestly feels like anet are catering to the minority here, being the hardcore but vocal crowd who wanted a proper endgame progression, anet delivered it without thinking what that actually ment for the game.

I have repeatedly stated on this site and the Guru site while this game was in development if they went down this path of catering to loud mouthed raiders who make up bout 2% of the actual mmo population, I was getting the F out of dodge. I also said that the MAX population of a gear grind was going to be about 200,000 for a GOOD gear progression game. And the only way they will be able to compete with other phat lootz gear grinds, is to totally abandon pvp balance, which they have already done, hell their not even worried about pvp dynamics they have to get back to square one before they even get back to basics at this point.

Also it doesn’t matter if they betray their player base now or later what they “thought” was that if they backstabbed everyone early enough it would be fresh enough a wound you would ignore it and just give them infinite second chances because the game is still new. Which is the same mentality as waterboarding first graders. But this is not something they just came up with a few months ago, no they planned this from the beginning, which means they think you are easily manipulated, which doesn’t boost my confidence in them.

The TLDR of the past week is;

=>Vocal minority locusts QQ they have nothing to do, even though they probably haven’t done most of the content yet anyway.

=> Anet introduces the Ascended gear treadmill to shut them up.

=> Vocal majority, also the legit fans of the game go WTF?!?!

=> Legit fans explain in detail why it’s a bad idea, what’s wrong with it, and what they could have done instead of adding grind.

=> Apologists don’t understand the consequences, nor the other group’s viewpoint, and tell the legit fans to leave the game.

=> So the legit fans leave when Anet makes no attempt to respond to the PR disaster.

And now there’s a 50 / 50 chance this will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in the history of gaming. Well, I think anyway.

Biggest maybe not because its so early in the release, so early in fact they are depending on people to give them more time to continue baiting them so they can cash in on WOW players while giving the GW1 player base and pvp fans that built the initial population a HUGE CARROT a carrot made of hopes and dreams they never intend to fulfill. The best thing we can do is gtfo and not stand around for any more BS. I don’t know about you guys but this isn’t my first tango of being screwed over and continually baited and fooled by a dev just to get more cash shop or monthly sub money out of me. I just cant stand for it, and refuse to forgive it when I see it as plain as day, I WILL NOT SUFFER RAIDERS, I will not put up with Fing loot grinders and im not going to play a game with kittening loot grinders or have to deal with broken game mechanics because of the endless F2ing treadmill crap, I think we were all very clear that we didn’t want that, and GW2 said very clearly they didn’t want that either. To sum up all the problems with GW2 pvp simply. Everyone is supposed to be a hybrid, But anyone can go 100% conditions or crits, but at best 10% anything else. All the control or healing or anything other than damage are on very short timers and with no control or damage mitigation from other players other than yourself, combat becomes a dps zergfest.

Also they nerf CC every chance they get, its almost like they are trying to make the zerging worse than it already is. When WvWvW is a Zerg and Entire Servers are Zerging the other side something is fundamentally broken with your skill/spec balance.

They dont want dedicated healers, pure CCers, one second fears, lifedrain abilities are useless lifegain nearly as useless. I'll be honest about the gear and gearchecks

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rhydian.5412

Rhydian.5412

This is something that existed prior to ascended gear, and was something that we saw happen all the time in GW1, even without any sort of gear progression. Some players, typically people who play the game a lot, tend to only want to play with other players that play like them. They require some sort of proof to get into their party, whether it be displaying your Lightbringer Title, equipping or linking some type of gear, or using some other method of showing that you have already done and are experienced with the content. While ascended gear might be the new excuse, this behavior happens regardless.

While this is not really something that we want to encourage, players do have the choice to play the game in the way they want. We can’t force those players to be all-inclusive in who they invite to the parties they create, and to be honest, doing so would probably make people even more unhappy than they are now, and lead to a lot of undesirable behavior.

You know I was watching a movie where a politician had an affair and then told everyone at a press meeting that this kind of behavior had to stop but unfortunately he couldn’t control the actions of others.

But doing the right thing or keeping your word, starts at the beginning of the day, not the 5th hour. Or taking a deflect and blame the players stance. Gear grinders didn’t make you neglect pvp and ninja in gear grinding overnight, you did that yourself.

I usually play CC pvp, meaning I prefer to snare, distract, debuff and just drive the other guy crazy. Other people like support or healing. However it seems like our only options are conditions or crits. Conditions being basically a crappy dot that you can stack numerous times. The maps are more like small areas, maps would indicate you need a map, you don’t need a map for these tiny areas, they are all one dimensional zergfests, they could have done so much more with the maps but they were so obsessed with making it an Esport they forgot most average players want to actually have fun on pvp maps. WvW is much of the same, just a larger zerg. I was like you it was ok the first month until your mind gets around the fact that every class is using the same kind of spec running in zerg circles trying to spam instagib one button abilities at the other side whilst stacking as many conditions as possible.

Its a theory crafters nightmare and not because their are too many options.

Their main design decisions of crazy amounts of movement and very adaptable classes with little core…. well it means they have to throw out all the lessons learned by other PvP games… GW1, WoW, DAOC, WAR, etc. But people really want r a game that learns from all of those. I think?

So it’s kind of annoying to sit around here waiting for them to invent something new from scratch, especially when it’s hard to see how it could ever work. My opinion is they’ll have to really become more liberal/abandon their goals and give classes more focus and tone down the hyperactive amounts of “action movement” if they want to make more than Arena-style 5v5 fights or smaller work.

Just an opinion though.

This is exactly right and it has nothing to do with trinity, there are simply no options to hybrid out your character. Hybrid into what, your choice of condition spec? That is not exactly hybrid options. The healing skills SUCK, control skills SUCK, Lifesteal and lifegain SUCK, they act like one second of fear or 278 points in lifestealing are a BIG deal, however they have -no problems- allowing 20+ stacks of bleeds/conditions in under 3 seconds or spammable 10 to 15 k 2 and 3 button abilities or if your a Mesmer F1. They do NOT have enough skills or weapon options, something we DID address in Beta forums.

You ARE DPS condition, crit spec no matter what you do, every class is homoginized into close range, 900, 1200, AOEs no meaningful control, no meaningful healing or lifesteals, nothing, just stacking crappy weak dots in stacks or crits with high levels of base damage base line abilities you can spam.

If I wanted A button smashing boring combat I could just play Street fighter and spam Blancas spin attack.

I am not trying to be mean, but i do not understand this whole “give them a chance” mentality.

This is not this companies first rodeo. I just dont understand. They are supposed to be professionals who have been doing this for years and years.

TOR fanatics said the same thing for a year of pain and anguish, you know what they have today, more pain and anguish, mixed with denial and probably whiskey and the holy bible a this point.

It appears they decided to just jump right into lets repeat a bad idea mode, hey instead of making a game much like DAOC in its prime lets skip all that and just make a crappier version of the Trials of Atlantis because people liked it soo much.

I could care less about gear progression, but the pvp has become a an unskilled spammy zergfest, and I learned my lesson from WOW, im not going to linger around waiting for more empty promises.

I gave anet a chance. Despite not playing the game for over a month now, I waited patiently and popped in time to time to see how this patch would work out. I got somewhat excited even when Jon Peters made his post in the ranger forums. The “fixes” today are not even a shallow reflection of the problems outlined.

My patience is out, my bookmarks are deleted, and the game is uninstalled. I hope that everything gets ironed out eventually, I just don’t expect it to happen anytime in the near future.

Ah you did same thing I did, looking at the upcoming releases like me then, have you looked at Greed Mongor, doesnt look bad. Was hoping to play World of Darkness.. but thats another ball that got dropped.

Well I wasn’t going to log in until the 19th anyway. My own protest. Problem is, I probably won’t log in after that either. Just not really any point to it anymore. I’ve been reduced to scrub status by yet another developer.

We only have one option it seems stick to hard core sandbox pvp games, I dont see another alternative. Maybe a few of the Sci fi games coming out as well, hell I have been playing the DayZ mod for 3 days now, OMG actual world pvp it’s been so so long. Fantasy mmorpgs just seem to want to screw us over every time. They cant introduce world pvp, or fix broken classes but gear treadmill just for carebears,….. no problem.

If the next update to sPvP after the upcoming is a cheap one (as was everything done with sPvP so far) or if they don’t start talking about something at least promising (GvG/HA port or equivalent “big” thing), I’m afraid I will simply kiss GW2 goodbye for good.
sPvP is just too kittening boring overall. One or two additional maps won’t cut it, especially with the crappy structure they built around it.

It has nothing to do with how they balanced classes or lack of a holy trinity. The PVP and combat system is just to boring. and every class is dealing the same kind of attacks. Just how many ways can you make conditions which are just crappy dots stacked a lot of times and spiked Crits interesting. Not to mention lack of any world pvp, there is no fun factor at all to pvp. Everything is built to fit in an AOE template and you can tell. You cannot build a totally STERILE environment and expect people to stay exited about it, removing fun things to do is why I started getting bored with WOW in the first place. Sure enslaving and elite demon and dropping it on goldshire was not exactly, balanced, but it was sure as hell fun. Also there are not fun pvp abilities, mind control, CC is too weak in all areas to be any fun, also too few weapon options and not enough skill choices. Specs are too easy to read.

What they really need are some battlezones maybe like instanced town areas where people can do some more realistic world pvp feeling gameplay. WvW is just a larger Zerg than the 8v8 hotjoin zergs, there is no casual pvp vent anywhere. And as much as we complain about the thief invis bug, hell they just do it because its one of the few fun things to do in pvp, there HAS to be some screw with other people factor in the pvp or its gonna be boring. As of right now everything is way to cut and dry.

So far they haven’t been able to balance the pvp around a single gamemode, how should they do it with several gamemodes?

They better concentrate on keeping a pvp population at all before concentrating on a few maps which are essentially identical and boring.

I think for casuals 8v8 is just a practice in Zerging and gets OLD it gets old Fast, competitive PVP is great but there has to be more than that. WvW feels the same, everything just feels like a one dimensional Zerg. Over compartmentalized and inorganic. I like it for what its worth and its fun trying different specs out and all but even that feels one dimensional. I have played a lot of mmos and the specs for every class look cut and dry, essentially most people are doing some variation of dot spamming crappy short term dots cough conditions and seeing how many of those they can stack on the other guy while dodging. That or maybe crits and high base damage.

I was doing well with my ranger but am now fairly bored Zerging + conditions just gets old, structured gets old, there seems to be a lack of interesting dynamics and any lack of showing skill since most of the time you are fighting zerg vs zerg or outnumbered. Downed state doesnt help either.

I mean I will keep playing since I do get a few good hours a day out of the game, but I wont act like I am not looking at the upcoming releases either.

Well besides some balancing and class mechanic bugs, Necromancers have been shafted beyond hope and all viable specs are either crit or condition builds, mostly condition builds which makes speccing dull for the most part. The largest problem keeping GW2 out of any real Esport status is the stupid downed state abilities, and not all downed state abilities are created equal, Warriors have what I refer to as the “do over” resurection bs button , then thieves and mesmers with their endless BS then all the other abilities are not so bad. Some specs are better at finishing off downed players usually heavy armored melee characters with high stability. Which basically means all downed state is, is a way for people to get kill steals off you in pvp matches and screws ranged characters who basically have to try and dps they prey down before he is staked.

I cant figure out why the even implemented it.

Mesmer Clones

You keep talking about how you spammed illusions from behind a rock and “totally pawned noobs and stuff”. But Phantasms are not CLONES!…clones look like the player and deal no damage… good luck standing behind a rock and sending CLONES at your opponent in the hopes of winning a fight.

This thread is not about how the severely nerfed phantasms are OP, or mesmers are OP this thread is about how hard it is to tell CLONES from the mesmer. I already made a list for how to tell clones from the player and other useful and polite people added to that list.

If you feel a need to bash on the mesmer class for any other reasons then people not being able to tell robotic clones from the player please open your own thread or find the existing one if any related to your topic.

I didnt say I pwned any nubs I said I facerolled across the keyboard.
Clones do minimal damage and Mirror Images is not the only spell that makes clones, every basic weapon set has at least one clone ability so I go in with 2 on top of Decoy thats 3 not counting phantasms. Indeed most of my damage is from Berserkers and Duelists and even without mirror images I still spam a clone out every few seconds. All clones and phantasms are illusions.

Heres a wiki link so you can study your own class.

Here I even made that thing myself, not knowing anything about it, just open with GS, get some illusions out, switch out get some more out, I soloed a warrior just standing behind a rock .. sorry about that whoever it was. I feel dirty for even playing it.

You can see my username on the SS on the bottom left along with my feelings about the class. If I had to stomach to play it more and tweak the weapon runes a bit.. dunno about his choice of Doom I am sure I can double that. That was a first time out faceroll.

Mesmer Clones

Hey Kasama, thanks for posting

I did roll a mesmer and played it….I was shocked that within the first round I was top on kills/score without knowing the class at all and it only got better from there to the point is was just super boring and to be honest, I felt dirty playing a class so unbalanced.

My main problem is that their clones look exactly like them, when you finally do target the real one and mark them, they pop decoy, or mirror image etc and the mark is dropped and you have to look for the original again.

That might not sound so bad, but when the clones are hitting you for most of your life it quickly becomes a problem. If the Mesmer is shatter spec as I mentioned ealier I was hit for 16k (Totaled between their clones, all of the damage happened at the same exact time).

These clones simply hit to hard, and provide to much coverage/support for the mesmer.

I’m just going to call BS on that, and request you upload a video with you calling your on name and a time stamp.

Mesmers are not hard to play, but they are hard to master, but yeh I don’t know all the class combos myself but can BS a 200 point game just spamming a few clones and illusions.

But as for calling BS, here anyone just copy and paste this build.

Follow the instructions to EZ mode victories.
I have played every class in the game and think Mesmer is hands down the lowest skill cap of the bunch.

There are lacking either casual or open world elements that attracts core pvpers in the first place. The sPVP feels like a heartless zergfest and really feels to small and confined to really optimize more diverse tactics, some things like the npcs bother me, it seems odd that they just stand there and wait to be killed. The boards are not just not wide enough they are not 3 dimensional enough. With the kind of engine they have they could have put boards together that put most FPS shooters to shame. Hell I was just thinking of some of the old Tribes Vengeance maps in 2004 that were far more tactically challenging than these. Instead of just a light tower, they should have made it a bit larger with more stair levels and more walkways, made it more than just a building with a hotspot at the top. There need to be more boards with enclosed spaces and walkways and there needs to be more drawbridge and tall ledges or peaks for ranged classes to control areas and give runners more incentive to make runner specs from possibly layered boards with portals to each level. As is the boards are realistically FLAT and cover a small area which means they will be dominated by spammy melee zergs.

Also, taken points should deteriorate into neutral spots after a time, other wise there in no incentive to not leave the zerg and actually defend points. So in fact the points will by default get people into playing some kind of tactical king of the hill then all of the sudden these thieves and warriors will find themselves in more 2v2 situations where they cant hide their Backstabs in a flood of their teamates attacks and hundred blades spam becomes more manageable.

Please fix this sooner rather than later - Vid attached
