Eh most games have a vertical progression, heck even halo and COD. People like to see power rise as they invest time into it.
IF you want horizontal progression, go to facebook or something. Even at 80 without fractals and ascended armor, there was still vertical progression. People had to get exotic gear in order to run harder dungeons ect.
I dunno about you folks, but I rarely see a good elementalist lose to a heartseeking scrublit. lol. Hell even when ELes cds are down, they usually just ride the lightning out of dodge.
Cant think of a better escape mechanic in the game. Stealth is annoying yes, but ride the lightning on the correct turf gets you clear out of harms way of the player your avoiding.
a lot of the stresses that people are experiencing right now are cultural. Players (many of which have spent several hundred hours experiencing content), are now doing fractals and have no interest in doing the older dungeons.
Is this not to be expected? How many times can you repeat a task before it gets kind of old?
So ofcourse Anet tried to keep their fanbase happy, they produce new content FREE OF CHARGE. To keep their cash cows content. Thats perfectly fine, a great idea from the company. In the meantime they work to appease some of their customers. They essentially add legendary accessories/armor (in the future). Now the people who have experienced several hundred hours of Guild Wars 2 have something new to aim for. They work to attain it.
Meanwhile, the newer players without several hundred gold in their bank accounts and are pimping rares are whining, because they cant essentially find a group instantly for any dungeon they want to run. The player base has fractured, because some people are further along than they are.
These players voice their displeasure with the fact people have invested more time into things than them (generally). Then the forums become a raging troll bonfire of annoyance.
so whats the solution?
Its pretty simple, socialize, make friends, join a guild. (hell im an introvert myself, I know it can be heard to make friends with random joe. Seriously though just find a large active guild that alone can save you a lot of time) The more you invest in the guild the more people respect you, the more people respect you the more likely you can convince them to run older dungeons with you.
As for the power of ascended armor, name a single game in the world that has equipable armor that does not have a power curve.
As long as they balance dungeons around the gear most available at level 80, there should never be a problem in the pve environment. As for WVW, it can be sort of unfair, but at the same time. I’ve never felt like I was weak in exotics versus a foe with a legendary, and while ascended gear will open the gap a bit. I am going to assume that ascended armor will not be so much greater than exotic, as ANet is more than aware of their #s. (so essentially WVW is a wait and see situation)
Thanks.

This thread is filled with whine.
Apparently no one has figured out that MMOs that have a static environment die. Adding new things to do (like finding new cool sets) keeps an MMO alive. T
This isn’t a sandbox MMO, where you can go outside and do wtf you want. Its a themepark game with a progression system. If you want sandbox play go play Eve online, tibia, or darkfall.
I love that they are adding new content I DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR, and the fact that the fractals are abosutely stunning in design.
If you don’t like the way the culture is on your server, then make a guild focusing on older dungeons. YOU SHOULD NOT BE WHINING ABOUT DECISIONS OF OTHER PLAYERS, the developers cant control that kitten. They can steer it mildly, but this whining about not finding groups is purely cultural. You can and always will be able to run other dungeons and attain the gear.
As for ascended items, they have already stated theyw ill be having multiple paths to attain it, and that ascended armor is essentially legendary armor.
You don’t kitten when people attain a legendary weapon do you?
For people
Maybe not fun for you, but are you part of a large guild? Do you have friends in game? Do you socialize in game? Having friends is a great way to run any dungeon you want when you feel like it. I haven’t experienced any type of issues running any dungeon.
I do extremely well in hot join PVP with my conditionmancer. I build for toughness as the primary stat and condition damage as secondary. Should land you somewhere close to 1400 condition damage, utilizing undeath runes.
So, how does it work?
Well first you need to set your skills up first, should be along the line, 10/30/0/10/20.
You definently want enfeebling blood on deathshroud activation, and the talent that allows you go gain a mark after dodging.
It also helps to change your utilities to match the opponents you will be facing, for example epidemic is worthless while your fighting a lone guardian. So if you get the chance swap to corrupt boons.
While it is ideal to have as many stacks on a person, it is equally important to be breaking LOS and surviving as long as possible. Your conditions need time to do damage. Once your enemy blows their initial heal, now its time to get overlly offensive and stomp their face into the ground.
For example, if your a condition mancer and your at the keep. You don’t really want to be on the point, you want to be stationed on the high points. This allows you to spread many conditions around and maximize your survival.
Condition builds work, just don’t expect to be a dueling powerhouse.
(a battle I had yesterday as a conditionmancer vs a theif/guardian at the trebuchet)
I was manning the trebuchet, and they ran up the center as I was bombing the clocktower. I laid my dots on them (including blood is power) and epidemic as quickly and reliably as possible. Then broke LOS. Backstab theifs are very weak to conditions, and so by the time the theif was actually able to engage me they were already severly weakened.
I am no fool, and knew I could not maintain a sustained fight vs a DPS guardian and theif (as the theif downstate is a bit much at the moment). So I dodge rolled off the trebuchet and ran to break LOS. Since the THeif is much more mobile than the guardian, the guardian did not give chase and worked on the treb while the theif caught up to me. I utilized fear while running up the stairs to abuse the terrain and provide more time for myself. Eventually the theif withered due to my conditions and staff kiting. I dropped blood is power on the downed theif, and used my plague signet to send my additional bleeds on myself to the theif. Then ranged with my scepter as i ran back towards the guardian. During the guardian fight the theif died.
As I ran back towards the guardian I was out of combat for a short duration, changed my skill epidemic to corrupt boons as the guardian was a GS spec. I initiated the fight and started whitling him down, as soon as he popped his boons I corrupted them and killed him shortly after. Then went about manning the treb again, until the theif came to feed me kills.

Necros are Inherently tough for most Mesmers, since Mesmers rely on phantams and illusions and necros almost inherently do most of their damage over an area. If you can’t burst a necro down quickly, then skip the fight because it is likely that you are going to lose.
Additionally, nullfield is a godsend.
instead of whining like kittens, why not have your theif/necro/ranger/guardian. (guardian is a bit tricky, have to know the full sprint from enemies base to direct path based on class but totally doable) place down some stalling/detection on the ONLY TWO chokepoints available to the NPC in the start of the match.
As for
but but, I have to change my utilities. Well yes you do, and after game start when your out of combat go back to your strat.
This will solve most NPC whining

You dont use plague form for damage, you use plague form for survival and to mitigate damage against your allies while in combat.
If you can stop 1 attack from 3 people every second for 25 seconds. While your allies pound on them, im sure they will notice the results.
YOu can use plague form to spearhead a fight, before your allies get into the fray.
At 80 geared, I find DS is a nice thing to switch too after I stacked my bleeds. Due to might generation from power is blood (and allies) i can generally get 23 stacks of might. Count that with the stacks of vuln you already placed on your enemy and your DS 1 can hit quite hard.
efficient builds has been in EVERY PVP MMO in existence. There are some builds that simply trump others. There has yet to be a game, where every alternative is a viable alternative.
Hell, even chess is not balanced.
Yes its good to be passionate about an issue, and desire that changes be made. Unfortunately, At the end of the day, there will always be a better if you slapstick a build together.
So to quote you
“Notice how people dont want to be forced into D/D, and even then the damage can be good, yes, but at expense of survavility (TOO MUCH) , or bunker elementalist but people can just heal it through, you are not gonna be killing stuff anytime soon.”
You want an I win button, that you can mash your face into repeatedly for results.
Until you change that mindset, and work with what you got you will always be frustrated.
Dear OP
Review this Forum post, on the forums titled below:
[Guide] Mastering the D/D ele 11/19/12
Impressive no?
I play D/D primarily, so these will be tips for that:
1. Similar to what Gaudrath said, combining burning speed / ring of fire with Earthquake + Churning Earth stacks might using D/D.
2. You can teleport with lightning flash in the middle of a channeled spell. This is most commonly used with churning earth.
3. If you have Evasive Arcana, you can heal yourself with a dodge roll every 10s in water attunement.
4. Deselect “Automatically target nearest enemy” in the options. This allows you to deselect a target and use Ride the Lightning to escape.
5. Magnetic Grasp is a leap finisher (at least it used to be? Still procs for me a lot), which if used in one of your fire fields generates a Fire Aura.
6. Mist Form can be used to invuln-stomp enemies. Incredibly useful when outnumbered. You must start the stomp animation first, then use mist form and nothing can stop you. Make sure the class you’re doing this on can’t move though, (Ele, Thief, Mesmer).
7. Mist form can also be used to invuln-revive a teammate if you’re being focus fired. Same thing, start the animation first before using MF.
8. You can summon an elemental and use your heal skill while in MF, use this to recover and stall if you need to.
9. Shocking Aura makes Backstab thieves cry.
By the demons all very good tips, I was trying to figure out #4 myself yesterday. Thanks.
Thanks, thus far im looking at daphoenix youtube video guide for DD too, learning some great tips from that. Thanks for the might combo.
Dear Elementalist Community,
I love my Necromancer, but now I am experiencing the awesomeness of the elementalist. I’ve got most of my D/D combos down in the varied situations, but I find this is the only setup I am comfortable with in PVE and PVP. So if you could, please advise me on combos utilizing utilities and other ‘little’ tricks, that set the experienced elementalist apart from the newer ones.
Thus far, Ive pretty much assumed i’d be rolling toughness/power with accessories for vit/power in the 80s spectrum.
To simplify:
What are some tricks/combos for staff?
What are some tricks/combos for Scepter/any offhand?
What are some tricks for D/D?
What are some neat things you can only do by utilizing utilities and certain weapon combos?
Much Love,
Kether Ryle
I could totally dig a perma arrow catcher with potential bleed stacking.
Err I apologize Im not sure if I am being a bad monkey or a smart one -_-
“Cloaked in Shadow” to fill the gap dazelock
“Thrill of the Crime”
“Furious Retaliation”
resist weaknessBasically it all depends on the necromancer, not a thief.
I dunno how things work on the thief side honestly, but Im just saying the things that have worked against me. If I’m frontloaded with LF, I rarely lose to a thief. The good thiefs I fought knew how to avoid marks and change weapons, and knew when to run away.
I say we just wait a few weeks. Im certain they will add a different method to acquire similar statted gear, particularly after this overwhelming uber rage performed by the WVW crowd.
Necro Here, If they are using staff and dagger its most likely a well build. If thats the case the only thing you really can do is create some distance for a few seconds until they disapate. IF they are weilding scepter dagger/staff, try to bait their marks and have a small bit of condition removal somewhere. Be sure to switch between your melee and ranged options when appropriate to avoid damage to yourself.
Necros in general are a hard fight for thiefs, particularly if the Necro is front loaded with a lot of life force.
In general if a good thief sees me at a point, they generally just find somewhere else to be useful or initiate try and get me to waste as much LF as possibe and disengage until their CDs are ready and come back for another fight.
As a necromancer to another, make sure to pick up a lot of toughness and skirmish with your enemy. You do not want a direct confrontation with the zerg. Instead, land your bleeds on a squishy cast epidemic and break LOS for a few seconds and repeat. It is not your job to kill everyone by yourself, its your job to weaken them for your bursty friends
Well the jagged horrors hit for about 200 each and apply bleed. If they ever repair minion AI, with the flesh golems knockdown and the potential burst of bone minion sacrifices it could be problematic to have that many jagged horrors running around.
Man you guys must be really angry, have yet to get an answer to my question.
Do you have a competent strategy for dealing with someone who simply LOS phantasmed at the henge for multiple minutes at a time?
Thats it. Thats all im asking. You people are whining about things Im not even concerned about. I am asking the mesmer community, how do YOU beat a mesmer who abused LOS previously?
pretty awesome, id like to see some of that
I felt this post requires its own topic, so it could be bumped. We want ANET to read this (BTW gj eatthisshoe.5136):
EatThisShoe.5136:
I think one of the things which frustrates people is that most of the skill in this game is defensive. There’s a big divide between players who can reliably avoid burst combos and those who can’t. This means that almost anybody can pick up a burst build and kill you, and you have to struggle to get better just to stay alive. You can contrast this with FPS games, which often have lower time to kill, but bad players are not very dangerous because they can’t aim. In GW2 there are few skills which really reward high skill with greater damage. In fact some game mechanics really favor low skill attackers, such as blocked and blinded attacks not breaking stealth.
The second issue is that defense is limited. You only get a couple dodges, and whatever defensive skills your profession can add. This has two sub-issues, first even a good player can simply run out of defensive skills and endurance, leaving them an easy kill. Second some professions can retry failed bursts much more often than others, this is part of why shatter mesmers and backstab thieves stand out from 100blades warriors, because bursts come often enough that they can overwhelm defensive cooldowns. Of course the number of defensive skills you can viably pack into a build also varies with profession.
er wut, we have spectral wall for protection while proving vuln to the enemy if they are chasing you around. We additionally have spectral armor. Also you can trait protection for wells?.. and DS has 3 seconds of stability every 10 seconds. We have one of the best healing spells in the game, Consume Conditions. lol
.. wouldnt that be the same logic as saying, waaah i worked for an exotic weapon. Give me a legendary because I worked for my exotic?
I mean ascension gear is essentially legendary armor, and its not even blocking you from content.
I dont see anyone whining about people with legendary weapons killing them.
That is true that we cannot move into an unplanned direction quickly, but we can move to a previously visited place quite quickly. Intelligent use can make this an offensive tool, providing a terrain advantage. (and no spectral walk is not perma swiftness, but its a sizable amount) I mean you can run from one edge of any spvp map to the other before it vanishing.
So while everyone else is quick at getting to points they havent been too yet, we are good at getting to points we have been. Which sort of gives us more of a defensive/roamer role.
Actually, Spectral Walk is quite weak as a “comeback” skill, because its trail lasts only few seconds (6 if I’m not wrong), which is anyway too low to have any decent use excluding the swiftness.
Necrotic Traversal, on the other hand, relies on a physical entity which can be killed quite easily if spotted, so it is anyway subpar compared to portal.
Well yeah it can be killed unlike a portal, but Id still say our mobility isnt poor. Its just backwards. You can easily keep a group of people chasing you utilizing flesh wurm and spectral walk properly. Additionally, it still can help you get to point A to point B fairly quickly. Not as quickly as a mesmer no, but i’d argue I have more tricks I can pull with my mobility than say an elementalist warrior, guardian, engineer, and ranger.
Most people when they go to a point usually fight the defender and not the random flesh wurm stationed by, I mean they CAN but it would be sacrificing time (and if they can even hit it from the point)
An example: (and one of my favorite things to do). I am moving offensively towards the henge against a defender. The defender is a warrior. I start fighting him have him almost dead, a thief jumps me. POOOOOF im up the cliff out of view. Warrior and thief are looking around like (wtf). I start to harass them from the cliff, they move up and around to attack me. I jump down focus on decapping the point to neutral as they charge me. I utilize spectral walk before I jump down the cliff. I try to hang below towards the end of my CD, once things start to get hairy I pop back up the cliff again.
Now I can continue to harass.
Or sometimes before I go into a hairy situation Ill drop fleshwurm, and use it as an evac tele. Towards the enemies point. Most people ignore the flesh wurm. During combat I almost die, boom I tele to the flesh wurm and run towards the opposing point (wasting their time, and prolly that of the chasers)
(smart thiefs will use a shortbow to get up there etc, but this was an example that works frequently for me)
(edited by RhysSebastian.7651)
AOE blinds shut a lot of things down lol. They have ways to remove conditions en masse in an area. They just have to clutch control it in combat, just like any other class when they are shut down.
Yeah I def agree. I mean half the fun in the game is the feeling of attaining things atleast to me so having a barrier (albiet not an impossible one, like farming pyzgin at the ruins in qeynos hills on rallos zek during ruins of kunark) increases the desire to play, as long as its reasonable
Ahhh, so the solution would be to make it possible for Infusion based gear to be buyable from other players. I mean it would still require you to grind in some way (which we do anyways, for money or for fun) but would still allow people who do not want to run dungeons to remain viable.
Thanks for the insight guys.
I find it surprising so many people are opposed to having more stuff to do in a game though lol. I think i get the picture tho.
As for the comment about legendaries, I mean legendaries are optional. You arent severly detrimenting any group by not having a legendary. I have some faith that ANET isnt designing dungeons with everyone having a legendary in mind lol. I for one dont have th etime or desire to farm legendaries, I find ascension gear a bit more feasible for me to attain.
Great job on the thread so far guys

Okay since people are talking about nonsense I did not ask about. Let me rephrase my question:
How did you beat a competent mesmer, at the henge in the Forest of Nifhel (NOT WVW, NOT PVE) prior to the LOS nerf.
I think your utility phantasms should be castable outside of LOS, IF AND ONLY IF they can do no physical damage to an enemy. Otherwise they are just offensive utility bots, ad we revisit the offensive LOS issue.
Eh depends on what you define as mobility, Necromancer has the potential to have excellent burst mobility through spectral walk and flesh wurm utilization. Heck flesh wurm is basically a must have to counter trebuchet mesmers as I support mid.
Stof TBH im not sure if I can fit an infusion in it, but I will certainly try when I get home and let you know the results.
However, if there are no dropable infusion equipments (which if they dont) it would only make sense to make some in the future if infusion does become a bit more mainstream.
OOOHHH better yet, why not have infusion based gear drop have a percentage chance to drop in fractal lvl 9?
Well I guess what I better ask to clear this up first is.
Since some people want to feel progression, and ascension gear provides this feeling, and some people dont want to work very hard to get it. Why not provide multiple paths of attaining ascension gear similar to other dungeon tokens?
Also make some ascension gear sellable on the AH. As long as they have alternate methods of attaining the gear, why not have it?
Why cant we both be happy? I like feeling like I can achieve new things, and will you be happy if there is an alternate route of attaining ascension gear such as buying it ect?
That bug has been around for a while. I really do hope they address it. Really though, they are doing a pretty phenomenal job so far with the game so young.
Your LOS issue isnt a nerf, its what every ranged class in the game has to deal with. Us poor necros had our plague signet hit the same way you did. I mean at first its a little jarring, but it kind of makes sense y’know?
I mean im sure you didnt appreciate necromancers throwing 25 stacks of bleed on you, through a mountain or wall which you could not view em cus they utilized targetting functions.
You make several valid points, but even if it keeps us entertained for a few weeks.. well, thats awesome! We didn’t have to pay for the content, and for a lot of people (like me) who fit the casual hardcore crew, this pretty much ideal.
I mean if you look at their set-up they are marketing hard to people who work for a living and have a slight bit of expendable income.
I mean the same setup is in League of Legends. Runes can make a difference, some runes are more expensive than others. Still at the end of the game, for the most part the better players win the game. Runes are something people can casually work with, or contribute moneyz to get runes more quickly.
ANet is a business, and I can see why some people would be sore.
Still I petition to you, the opposite side of the coin. How come we can’t compromise?
Your question is meaningless to me, because I have never been against adding a line of sight requirement to illusionary beserker. I have in fact stated that I thought it should be fixed.
However instead of simply fixing it, they added a new bug to the beserker (that result in a damage reduction), and they added a new line of sight bug to illusionary warden that’s even worse than the original problem.
If you want to have “fun” and see it in action, grab a few mesmer friends, trait in inspiration and get the focus skills gain reflection trait, all target a keep door, and toss illusionary wardens straight through the door into the keep.
The problem is as funny as this is, it also makes it impossible for me to use another tactic I used to use all the time in WvW – using an illusionary warden just outside the keep door to help protect people using battering rams to attack the door.
To summarize: I have no problem with actually fixing LoS on the beserker. My problem is the patch is a horrible buggy mess.
The point of the post was the question, your hilarious.
BY THE TIME AGONY IS EVEN RELEVENT YOU HAVE RAN FRACTALS ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO CRAFT INFUSIONS with the exception of Karka Shells (which ANet) expects players to play in the new lands.
By the time Agony is relevant, you’ll NEVER have the mats to craft an ascended back piece unless you were rich to begin with. Infusions need a piege of gear to be socketed into you know?
On that note, everyone reading the forums make sure you buy your karka shells when you get home while they are cheap.
and back pieces actually drop in the dungeon, I had one drop today.
You make a point, but that stuff takes time to make yknow. ANet has been pretty good about timing. You best believe they have a bell curve somewhere on expected ETA that average player joe will be ready for additional ascended content. Not to mention you can always purchase infusions from the auction house.
Regardless, the awesomness of their system is respectable to me. Sure they are slightly urging people to buy gems if they lack the time to farm things, but in reality im sure all of their later content will require agony resistance in a similar method to fractals (after pwr lvl 10 +)
They are trying to find the middle ground between their player bases, one group wants to feel progression the other does not. So they meet inbetween, by introducing agony with slightly miniscule stat increases (though to be honest Id like it if infusions were like +2 stat points each making the different even more miniscule)
AND
are catering to the people who run dungeons for fun, and people who expect a kitten hard challenge. Really its a beautiful system.
Ascended Gear is only accessory based. Infusions are CRAZY expensive, and only provide +5 stats.
The agony resistance is only required in fractal lvl 10 +.
Now to my point:
I don’t expect many casuals to have the time or desire to play fractal 10 +. This is mostly specialized hardcore content, for consistent groupers and experienced players who enjoy challenge.
The genius of what ANET did is this: If you like to run fractals for fun (even with a varied challenge level to 9+) you can. You are not required in any capacity to have agony for these levels. Now if you are wanting to push your limits you can certainly try fractal 10 +, in the meantime you have (at bare minimum) 9 runs to get your potion, and enough fractal points for a scroll. The only thing required at this point is enough mats to produce an infusion from the mystic forge.
BY THE TIME AGONY IS EVEN RELEVENT YOU HAVE RAN FRACTALS ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO CRAFT INFUSIONS with the exception of Karka Shells (which ANet) expects players to play in the new lands.
They have essentially created a dungeon that is both hardcore, and casual.
Good job ANet
Love,
Kether Ryle
I’d say Ranger honestly. That is the class I notice least as a Necromancer. Thief and Mesmer seem to be the highest amount on my server.
I dunno I think rezzing my ally is important enough to blow a 180 S cooldown, and provide AOE blind in the process =D
Though if they made deathshroud usable in the manner that you can use plagueform (which I hear it can be, but not too reliably) necros would spec 30 into DS, get the 3sec stability and you essentially have a rez bot. (specially if you mix in the trait that adds well of blood into the deal)
A hundred times this. Welcome to mortality Mesmers, you now know what it feels to play by the rules.
Easy for an unhittable Rogue to say, I suppose.
I wonder how you’d feel when your defensive ability is being blocked.
Wrong again, Im a necromancer. I understand your guys pain, and yes they should fix the responsiveness of the issues associated with ranged combat. However, if you friendly mesmers look from the other side of the pool. It is sort of nice to see that they are working on bringing you guys to the level of Elementalist, Necromancer, Engineer, and Ranger.
(edited by RhysSebastian.7651)
Actually the obstructed bug your referring too happens to most ranged classes. It also allows the new Karka monsters that roll, and the flesh golem to trigger their charge damage on a single character several times. I do hope they solve the clipping issues involved with that, but back to my initial question.
How did you defeat skilled mesmers who abused LOS in the map forest of niflhel, at the henge?
I gave the build a shot last night, it may be better in Orr but against karkas this build isnt too effective due to the tons of weakness. Makes farming difficult. It was okayish in dungeon, but not enough for me to sacrifice blood is power and epidemic
I just turn weaknes sinto Might with Well of Power. Nets me around 9 stacks in a normal fight against the young.
It certainly does, just the CD for it is a bit long for farming in general. It definently works against a single monster well, and the constant life force supplied is pretty nice. I see the concept for the build hes looking at, and I like it. Just for PVE I don’t it as useful as the condition build. I really do want to try this build or something similar to it in PVP tonight, mostly focusing on pulling enemies to me surrounded by marks ect.
You do realize I was commenting on the LOS requirement of phantasms right? I mean the subject of the post is: Thank god they fixed LOS. Also the damage reduction is DUE to a bug fix, now ANet is looking on how to increase the damage as it did remove a lot of its utility. I’d find the ANET post for you, but im lazy.
If your target is out of range, don’t cast an ability.
If you are blinded, don’t cast an ability with a cooldown.
If you don’t have LoS on a target, don’t cast an ability.
A hundred times this. Welcome to mortality Mesmers, you now know what it feels to play by the rules.
By “fixed” do you mean “obstructed trying to hit someone standing 2 inches in front of you beating on you with a melee weapon”? Because that’s what is happening now.
Congratulations, you now know how it feels to play every other class in the game.
Additionally, I’ve played Mesmer since closed beta and a bit post. Found it a bit too easy for the most part. Go scepter pistol/staff, map f1 – f4 on your razer naga, and your basically golden.
Not saying that mesmer doesn’t take skill to play, but the phantasm spam out of LOS was pretty attrocious in SPVP. I felt like i was playing WOW Tourny again, vs droods.
Now the good Mesmers will shine ever brighter, as the mediocres become even more dull.
What isnt there to like?
