That’s what I thought. Then i tried a Mesmer. And then a Guardian. And they were both awesome. And then i realized, it’s in the detail of the skills.
hard control, guardian has the most options. pulls, bubbles, knockback, reflect.
other classes have a few of those as well but not as many.
Which has more survivability? – necro
Which has more dmg (burst – engineer
and sustained?) – both
Which can farm well/wvw well? – both
Also difficulty. – imho engineer has a higher skill ceiling, every class is easy to pick though

I think it is already fixed. Lately in my AC runs, I’ve noticed that troll don’t spawn as frequently as before.

Arah is the best balanced dungeon in the game. Nerfing it would ruin the last piece of slightly challanging PVE content.

i thought the same about my ele once he got 80, then i rolled a mesmer and never looked back. now that the mesmer is fully exotic i’m thinking of starting an engineer.
i think all of the classes have a lot of depth to them, yes even warriors. for some it’s quite obvious they are complex (engineer,mesmer) for others it’s in the detail.
Try this one. Its shiny, flashy, glowing. They should even put it on fire.

I know the game is just a few weeks old and there is a lot more things to come.
This is just what i personally am looking forward to.
Btw i am as casual as you potentially can be. I play 1-2 hours a day sometimes more, and try to log in some point at the weekend.

yes urge to kill risiiiiing is super annoying, but “might makes me right” takes the cake and i dont even play a norn.
could one of you heal mantra mesmers potentially compare it to an ele?
i mean are we talking omg 3x aoe water field burst heal, which brings the whole team from 0-100 or is it more of a minor but steady heal? i haven’t looked too much into the healing capacities of the mesmer, but i am interested.

I do love this skill as well, just poof gone and a clone stands in my place. But always the same. While it works in PvE, I found that it’s rather useless in PvP since nearly everyone knows by know that the one in front is the clone. Why not instead make it something similar to Mirror Images, that it randomly places the mesmer and the clone at two different places within a small certain area, possibly removing enemy target from the mesmer as well.Blurred Frenzy
Just a quick question about this, why aren’t mesmers able to move while doing this one? A lot of the time when using this skill it just misses because the target took one step away.
afaik if you time your forward movement with phase retreat you can spawn at the same position as your clone.
blurred frenzy makes you invulnerable for the duration, and people already complain about that
I'm seeing a lot of sadness about Scepters. Here's a 101 on them if it's a weapon you've never really used.

ah yea this thread, reminds me of how much i hate scepter.
it seems so unresponsive and the auto attack seems to take ages, especially the third overhead one. it’s like scepter guardian but worse.

Escorting supply caravans in WvW has no reward.
he meant grabbing supply from the camps and repairing kitten.
As others already have mentioned, it’s less about blending in with the clones, but distracting your opponent for a few seconds to prepare your next move and letting them waste skills on your clones. It’s all about being a few steps ahead.
why does mindstab require ground targeting?
The aoe is negligible, and other skills where ground targeting would actually be of use (feedback?) don’t use it.

Quick question while on the topic : I haven’t used the Trans stones yet, do you have to use 1 Trans stone for each piece in the set, or does it Trans all pieces with just 1 ?

staff is amazing for area denial. the spvp as it is at the moment is objective based.
you can keep teams from capping all day long, it’s hilarious.
how about speeding up the cast time of glyph of renewal to make it actually useful?!
because otherwise guardian would be op. damage mitigation of the guardian is insane.

Waypoints cost too much period, dead is already punished by armor damage so it’s an unnecessary inconvenience on top of that.

I wouldn’t say this is forcing opinions on others. I’m reading this forum to help form my own opinions. An elementalist was my first character and I wanted to deal max damage. My gear is pure glass cannon so I’m super squishy, but moving will cause my Dragon’s Tooth to miss so I stand still and only fight 1 mob at a time.
I haven’t tried any dungeons yet because people say there aren’t tanks in this game and if the mobs are moving my damage may suck and I don’t want to bring down the group. Now after reading this thread I’m thinking elmentalist fill more of the support or control role instead. I may re-gear for that and try it out, but in the mean time I’m leveling a ranger, which I hope will be better at the pure dps role.

Yes you can play glass cannon, yes it is effective, provided the team compostion is laid out for that and playing well.
The thing with a glass cannon in gw2 is that you have to be twice as aware of what your team is doing, because you will die if you can’t read the situation.
What is wrong with you people? let others play their class like they seem fit.
If i want to play 30 fire 30 air no survival and only stay in fire then so be it.
This doesn’t have to mean they are downed all the time.
Through smart play and positioning it’s well possible to stay alive in dungeons.

One of my alts is a warrior currently sitting in the 30s and i am considering starting a guardian. this question is for the level 80 warriors out there, that are regularly doing dungeons.
Can the warrior (with a proper build/traits) live up to the self sustain of a guardian?
I know he has quite a few tools at his disposal plus his high hitpoints pool.
I am well aware, that nobody can face tank gold mobs forever, it’s more about the sustain.
I’ve always seen the warrior as tanky with offensive support and the guardian being the group support equivalent.
100% agree with the OP.
One of the reasons i used to love WoW was that you had to rely on your guild and/or friends to go through a raid or dungeon and it built up good relationships and whatnot. Never forget the feeling of the first time i went through an instance, we went at our own pace, had a look at everything and learned all the lore.
The reason i’ve quit is that i can literally just click a LFG button and wait. Then we faceroll the instance in 10 mins tops. Wheres the fun?
To me GUILD wars, should be about your guild. Your guild should be there to help you with dungeons and wpvp etc. You shouldnt have to just click a button and wait.

If an LFG tool is implemented you can still run the dungeon with your guild. You don’t lose anything from it. It’s win-win.
It just gives people who can’t be bothered with guild stuff, an option to find a PUG faster. How’s that bad?
somethings needs to be done about the costs of traveling. charging for fast travel and armor repair at the same time is just too much and i’m really tired of travelling to the mists and back to lions arch just to save a few silver.
how you tried the fine transmutation stone from the gem store? (which is used for level 80 gear)
It’s great actually, because you can switch then to other attunements and use it as a blast finisher
that’s the rare set. There is another version with a different skin which is the exotic variant with better stats. (tokens)
It probably means that " you are invulnerable to new forms of damage?" It is not a condition clear & invuln.

You probably heard DE and crafting a lot, i disagree and say dungeons.
Most dungeons story mode is super easy and done in 20-30 min, with average pug’s.
I’ll use a simple example to describe how a field works.
As a Ranger, I lay a flame trap, and the enemy activates it. During the few seconds the flame trap is active, it creates a combo field that applies burning to any attack I make that has a combo finisher, for this example we will use Crossfire. Every time I use Crossfire on an enemy inside, or beyond, the active combo field, it will apply the burning affect.
For water fields, when you hit a foe with Crossfire it applies regeneration to yourself.
So, to sum it up, Player A creates a water combo field, Player B uses a combo finisher skill, Player B receives the combo bonus affect.
Yea but he wants to know, if Player A’s traits affect Player B. Does Players B’s physical projectile grant him the condition remove on top of the regen?
This is what I do. Glyph of Elemental is unbeatable for solo PvE. the earth and water attunement ones are invaluable in tough encounters. If I use it in dungeons, I rarely use earth, but the other three are all pretty good. I don’t know what’s going on, but my earth elemental is almost never killed. He pretty much always survives until his time limit is up.
In sPvP, I use Tornado. The launch effect is great. It is probably the most annoying thing for a player to be chased down by a tornado that won’t stop knocking you on yourkitten
Then again, I’m D/D. If I were Staff, or even scepter main, I would probably use fiery gsword. It has great damage and you can give it to an ally who can also use its great damage.
In dungeons, I actually sometimes take avatar of melandru (human racial) because of the awesome support abilities…even if it does have the shortest duration EVER.
Interesting i might give Melandru a shot, although i have the feeling that switching between earth and water might have the same effect.
Another thing i’ve notice is the ice elemental never seems to heal anyone. Is it indirect regen or is it supposed to actively cast a heal spell on someone?
I completely agree. We end up sacrificing so much just struggling to keep up with the other classes. They’re almost worthless in PvP (imo), and PvE becomes exploited fire dps glass cannon hoping to kill before being killed. WvW is an utter pain. It is entirely dominated by thieves, mesmers, and rangers. It just isn’t fun to be an elementalist anymore; once you get past the initial allure, you quickly realize how lackluster it is in comparison to EVERY other class. Every class gets to swap weapons, more health, armor — everything — while elementalists get 3 useless elements and a whole lot of dying. You can’t even counter these poor gameplay mechanics with traits. You just lose. Hell, rangers can nuke harder, and farther. Just make a ranger and save yourself the frustration. Unless you’re like me and can’t give up on the severely underpowered, yet cool looking class.
Basically, WE NEED A BUFF. Make elementalists more balanced or the gameplay will suffer.

how surreal, this is what i am thinking but the exact opposite.
First things first: I love my ele and most of his skillset. Actually i feel pretty faceroll.
BUT i can’t seem to fit any of my elites in my build, i’d much rather take a fourth utility.
Tornado: spvp/situational
Sword: looks awesome, but thats about it
Elementals: seem to be the only viable choice, but my earth elemental seems to die as fast as the fire one.
HoB: see elementals, but worse
Might as well just take mistfire for the looks…
Am i missing something here or is there a way to make use of tornado or the sword in pve? Make use is as in “better than just using your normal skills”
