The radius of “Geyser” (staff elementalist water 3 skill) has been significantly smaller since the trait line to specialisation update. I think something must have gone wrong when “Blasting Staff” trait became baseline on elementalist.

I’m really surprised no one has noticed this; the skill has been like this for a very long time and needs to be fixed as this is a major issue in gameplay.

Please fix this ASAP as it’s been far too long anyway.

That makes sense. I can see how that one second can screw someone over if they (for example) were waiting for the moment for water to recharge to expend their last dodge only to get squat since ICD was still in effect. That, and it doesn’t seem fair to make players have to hesitate if they are really watching their attunement cooldowns. It would match up with the current CD’s lining up perfectly with each other (of course ignoring Fresh Air air attunement).

Though the 1 second hesitation may be intentional to add to the sense of cooldown management. /shrug

Wanted to suggest changing the internal cooldown of evasive arcana (Arcane GM trait) to 8 or 9 seconds perhaps instead of 10?

Reasoning: With upcoming balance changes, attunement swap recharge will be reduced to 8.7 seconds per attunement. This means that evasive arcana will not synergise with attunement swap as well as it did previously, and with us having to make choice between evasive arcana and elemental attunement, I think this is fairly reasonable to ask.

Opinions? please keep this constructive.

This isn’t really important, as there is still a general cooldown on attunement swap (~1s), and ElAt procs on-swap. Further, you are going to use 1-2 skills before swapping again. The minimum time between rotations will still be about 11-12s.

Im talking about going e.g from water > earth > water with Evasive Arcana. So lets say I change attunement mid dodge, so when I finish the dodge, currently the effect of evasive arcana will ALWAYS proc. However with the reduced cooldown of attunements after the changes, but Evasive arcana’s cooldown still being the same of 10 seconds, my dodgeroll after patch will not always cast a spell at the end of the dodge.

This is why I’m asking for an internal cooldown of around 9 seconds for Evasive arcana.

Maybe I haven’t been the most clear about what I mean. I want evasive arcana’s internal cooldown in line with the attunement cooldowns, so no matter how quickly you switch attunement, you will always get an evasive arcana proc at the end of your dodge.

Considering they didn’t touch thief’s trickery traitline, AND made them not have to choose between panic strikes or executioner…something doesn’t seem right about eles.

Even mesmer got many baseline changes, and one of the go to traits for [shatter] mesmer (illusionary persona) became baseline. However elementalists had very few baseline changes, and their major traits forced to split (EA vs Evasive arcana).

The arcane master traits just seem like fillers at the moment, with nothing particularly attractive. I really hope arenanet revert this change, I would even be happy with EA just applying to 3 targets instead of 5, but this is a bit too much in my opinion.

For balancing you either solely nerf the out of line specs (d/d in this case), or buff everything else to put it in line with said “out of line spec”. In this case they did both – nerfed cele and elementalist traits, and buffed thieves and mesmers.

Hoping this will be like deceptive evasion revert if everyone is against the idea from the devs, otherwise expect to see a lot of heavy tanks or condi fire-earth tanks – which is not fun nor exciting to play and/or watch.

I completely disagree given the fact that we currently can cleanse that much already. I don’t presently see a massive outcry or angry mobs shouting about the Elementalist having an overabundant amount of cleansing as it stands.

discussing if something should become the way it currently is is pointless.
fact is: the trait is too weak and with my suggestion it would be an alternative to non cantrip builds, because cantrip builds will never take cleansing wave over soothing disruption.

And because we can cleanse that much, d/d is meta right now and featured in almost every team comp. It is very powerful and will lose very few matchups.

As for the previous calculation, I’m not sure if you know this but if you water dodgeroll, it cleanses a condition. If you water dodgeroll onto a stack of allies, it cleanses conditions for them too just like for you.

Think of it on a bigger scale. 1 person giving out that much condition clear is far too strong. Lets assume you take the “gain regen and frost aura” trait. Thats one condi clear for yourself.
Then Cleansing wave and your suggestion. Thats 3 for yourself when taking cleansing water.
Then evasive arcana (water dodge) that is 4 conditions removed from yourself per 8.7 seconds since you’re going into arcana specialisation.

And then 3 from allies every 8.7 seconds. 4 allies around you so:
(3 × 5) + 1 from self trait = 16 conditions possibly removed on average per 8.7 seconds. That is too strong from one player.

But lets take out the self trait since we don’t know the ICD yet. That is still 15 conditions removed per 8.7 seconds (9 seconds to count reaction time).

This is just too high of a reward for simply using your class, which is not skillful play.

I understand you’re all passionate elementalists, so am I, but know the boundary between too strong and just right.

grants regeneration for 5s, would be happy with that.

Would be too strong if AoE because of cleansing water (2 conditions per 5 targets every 8.7 seconds or 10 seconds assuming you trait into arcane). Perhaps regen on just yourself, but even then that is a bit too much.

2 Conditions is a no as that is just too powerful considering the trait effects 5 people, and we are getting our attunement recharge lowered.

Hey, just some feedback for the Devs.
(I won’t comment on the other traits, you can see the general opinion in the forums)

Cleansing wave seems to be a bit lackluster compared to the other Master traits.

1. Cantrip CD reduction, + Regen and vigor on cantrip
2. Water CD reduction + 10% damage above threshold
3. Remove condition every time you attune to water

Perhaps you could do an added bonus? maybe even a small one such as:
Inflict 5 stacks of vulnerability – 5 seconds to foes around you when attuning to water (8 second internal cd) with a radius of 240. This is just a suggestion, of course you don’t have to follow this.

Feedback appreciated, I hope arenanet actually reads this!

Its just I fear that the battle sigil was a nice variation in damage sigils and I really don’t want the meta for damage sigils to become double procs and force or bloodlust – battle sigil was a nice variation to this and strength sigil too. I wouldn’t like it to be trimmed down to even less sigil variation.

Just wanted to know everyone’s opinions on the upcoming battle sigil nerf

Its pretty obvious classes like ele and engi benefit a ton from battle sigil (combod with str or hoelbrak runes even more so) but what do you guys think?
Was the might nerf enough or is it definite that we need both Battle and Might nerfed to balance everything?

Is power creep too high or do you think that maybe battle sigil should be revoked to keep sigil of battle viable as a sigil despite might nerf, OR will you continue to use this sigil after the changes?

so many have made this point but been ignored by arena net.
At least ANSWER the thread so we can have a response.
So much frustration on the WvW playerbase of gw2 because of a tiny (tiny-er forum section now after TWO whole subforums removed for one of your largest player bases) subforum and almost 0 dev presence.

I really had high hopes for that adopt a dev program but all it seemed to me was a holiday for devs because NOTHING has been changed for the better.

You removed white swords to improve scouting but kept rewards for scouting the same…nothing!

Did you not see what VoTF wrote on their website? Anet simply aren’t listening at all and when you look at biweekly updates for living world and then we get a mockery of a new ‘wvw’ map (EotM) and updates like ‘seasons’ it just encourages more people to rage quit.

Idk, many people think the same as you OP but after playing with crit damage nerf I really think it was justified of Anet to introduce it. Before the mindset of the d/d or d/p thief (30 SA one which I’m guessing you are) was burst then reset heal up and repeat. I played d/d for a while pre-nerf so I’m aware of the play style – for quite a bit of time too.

I think that with this nerf more fun and less boring play styles are being explored by thieves. Sure you will see a lot of p/d cheese but those were always there. However you will also see more s/d and s/p thieves which is a much nicer change.

I switched from d/d to s/d, and personally I love s/d so much more. The gameplay is much more fun and varied compared to the repetitive 5+1+5+1+5+1+2 combo of dagger mainhand thieves.

tl;dr – Give s/d a go. If you have spent that much time on thief you will be aware of the mechanics and find it fun really quickly.

What stats for Ascended?

Yea valkyrie rules thanks to power being a major stat (1), Getting critical damage from it (2), and getting the health for some defense against conditions (3). Thief has a low hp pool so valkyrie is really a solid option.

Cavalier is nice too but the issue I found with it is that power is not the major stat so you can lack a bit if you decide on too many cavalier pieces. I’m assuming you’re in 30 SA (or 6 whatever ) therefore you will already have the +300 toughness from the tree itself so you don’t /really/ need the extra toughness.

That’s just my take I could be quite wrong as I haven’t seen your playstyle.

Tbh I just want to be able to duel with wvw stuff from my friends in other servers as call me a liar but spvp =/= wvw in duelling for some things.

I just suggested obsi as megaserver because it doesn’t seem to require as much effort as your suggestion although yours is better, and Flytrap’s is even better than that but let’s be honest, the first suggestion is the most likely if anything.

Title gives it away but don’t you guys think it would be really nice if Obsidian sanctum was mega server’d so you could duel people with WvW gear etc from different servers with ease (taxi them in with party). Also this would mean that guilds that want to GvG wouldn’t be transferring a ton.

If you think it’s a good idea I would love if you guys could support me by just saying ‘Agreed’ as a reply just to see numbers and hopefully if we get enough support, Anet will think of implementing this as I don’t think its too hard to do.

Yea, all thieves really excel at is roaming which kind of fits their title as ‘thief’. They are supposed to so high damage and not be seen and to be honest thief and ranger are in a pretty bad place at the moment in wvw so nerfing them even further is a bad choice and will lead to the extinction of thieves.

My advice to you simply put would be less qq and more pewpew, most thieves in wvw are heartseeker spamming 10k hp full dmg thieves who die fairly easily. The more skilful ones are harder yes but if a thief is 1v3ing, I would blame that more on the skill of the players involved rather than the class.

Hmmm so you are saying a thief can assassinate people?

If you target a person to take out (lets say a squishy ele) and lets presume even more that you can 100-0 them in 2 seconds, the time it takes you to stomp the ele will get you killed. Lets assume you stealth stomp. The time it takes for you to stomp will not be enough to stomp the ele presuming s/he doesn’t mist form while his allies are reviving him/her. EVEN IF you stomp the ele, you die instantly because of channel time and ele gets an instant straight ress.

Difference between here and spvp is that its around 10v10 at the least rather than the standard 5v5 in spvp, and not to mention the players are stacked and grouped, not spread over the map.

end result: if EVERYTHING goes your way SOMEHOW you still end up dying fast and doing nothing.

Thieves cannot fight well in groups that know what they are doing. A well stacked group will sponge a thief’s damage easily and down the thief pretty quickly too.

Boonshare? ele’s do this ridiculously better providing almost perma protection etc if played right ~back to my previous point about saying how every class can do it better.

Boon rip? again, mesmers do this a lot better and offer a lot more condi cleanse, and better invisibility for groups with veil and mass invis.

Stun? you cant possibly say that the thief stun (which im presuming is with s/p 3) is better than a warriors hammer stuns which can be chained and are aoe. Same with the engineers that are aoe. Both of the classes mentioned also do better in teams due to their water fields (engi) and banners etc (warriors).

I think everyone can agree without fail that the current WvW roamer build focuses on conditions due to their ridiculous power.
More importantly, NECROMANCERS are ridiculous at 1v1 or even 1v3 due to their ridiculous flow of conditions and death shroud giving them 2 hp bars.

The healing skill was no where near enough to balance condition specs and if anyone here replies saying ‘just do this’, please, you were not playing versus good players you were playing versus trash and therefore your ‘tactics’ versus condition specs are not viable.
