I was a bit surprised about ‘Aurene’ at first, and for some reason started singing Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” whenever I heard my characters say the name, but I’ve grown to like it a lot.
I was thinking the baby dragon was going to be named like the rest of her family members (Glint/Glaust, Gleam). I really liked the idea of it being called ‘Glimmer’.
Yeah, I’m really sad about Lunatic Inquisition missing too. It was my favourite Halloween activity, I can’t believe it’s been two years since we last got to play it. I was actually looking forward to playing it again this year because I’d forgotten it was missing already last year…
I wish they’d at least explain why they removed it
Thank you for your answers!
The reliability/unreliability of asura technology is something I did consider but as the gate technology specifically is probably some of the oldest and so some of the most advanced asura tech, I came to the conclusion that a malfunction is highly unlikely. At least when it comes to a gate that’s permanently tuned.
If I choose to go with the assumption that the asura gate was functional but unstable at the time of my story, I think the most logical course of events would be that my characters were warned about the gate but they decided to ignore the warning or something of the sort. An accident out of the blue doesn’t seem very probable.
Hi!
I’m thinking about writing a short story about one of my characters’ background and I was wondering if I could check some lore accuracy things here. The story would take place about ten years before the base game’s story, and because of my character’s Ascalonian ancestry I’d like to have the story involve Ebonhawke, or, to be precise, the asura gates connecting Divinity’s Reach to Ebonhawke.
I haven’t read any of the Guild Wars 2 novels so all my knowledge on this subject comes from the wiki. It says there that in 1320 Queen Jennah had the Ebonhawke asura gate fixed after years of mismanagement. Do we have any information on whether the asura gates were completely broken before this, that is, so no one could travel through them?
In the story one of my character’s family members would get transported through the asura gate, but to the wrong place entirely. In lore, have the asura gates ever malfunctioned in a way that a person going through them was taken to a location without an asura gate? I’m thinking sort of in a way the Orrian mirror functions in Through the Looking Glass. In my story the location wouldn’t be completely random, but just outside Ebonhawke.
Thanks in advance for any answers. The plot of the story is nowhere near finished yet so I’m willing to scrap any ideas that don’t fit in the lore. I’d like for them to be as accurate as possible.
Hi! I’m not exactly sure whether this is a bug or an intended feature but a piece of dialogue seems to be sort of hidden in the last story instance of LS3 Episode 2. Spoilers for those of you who haven’t yet played the episode:
After the battle and after the dialogue at the end of the instance it’s possible to trigger the following dialogue with Caithe (this happens even after you’ve first spoken with her and told her Aurene’s name etc.):
Caithe: “Changed and more powerful? Care to explain?”
PC: “I was just in the Fire Islands; Primordus moved down there. Taimi and I discovered that its minions have evolved.”
“They’re showing signs of Zhaitan and Mordremoth influences. I also found a dwarf head, but… Long story.”
Caithe: “So when we kill a dragon…?”
PC: “The others absorb the loose power.”
Caithe: “Then I suppose we must kill them all before any one grows too powerful.”
PC: “Seems like an increasingly difficult task…”
Caithe: “Indeed.”
However, I’ve noticed that this dialogue can be triggered only before you accept the story rewards. If you accept the rewards and so complete the instance, nothing happens when you talk to Caithe. I’ve gone through the story with multiple characters and it’s happened to me multiple times; I missed the conversation the first time I did the instance and discovered it by accident later. I imagine others must have missed it as well and I think it’s a real shame that the dialogue is hidden like this.

I’m personally hoping that Lazarus is the one who kills Primordus to absorb more magic and the 2nd expansion focuses around him. Having each expansion be about destroying a dragon would get repetitive.
This is what I was thinking. I’m not sure if Lazarus alone is powerful enough to end an elder dragon, even having absorbed all the magic from the bloodstone, but he’s definitely the best way for ANet to “get rid of” the dragons faster.
Maybe Dragon’s Watch will end up helping him by also fighting Primordus but unaware of Lazarus being there? I don’t think we could be allies with him. Not sure how that would work.
I have the same problem. It seems I can’t do My friends, the Smiths either. Beigarth should be in the first cave in the instance but there’s no one to revive there.
I was about to create a thread but saw this one. It seems like your character’s height doesn’t have an effect on how much of them is visible. I hope we get a fix soon.
It’s a bug: Clarification
Phew! I was already a bit worried
ANet have listened to us before, I hope they’ll listen to us now as well. This wasn’t a good change.
Couldn’t chairs work like the magic carpet or the flying broom? I’m not sure if those two are considered as toys.
Thank you for being so amazing, Gaile! I feel like I could never be as friendly and supportive as you are, and I hope we’re not giving you too hard a time
nothing about cantha:(
Maybe we’ll explore Tyria first? And I think Elona after that would be logical. I still have hope for Cantha!
Have you looked at the chef’s outfit?
It’s different for each race and on sylvari it’s a plant outfit which looks a bit like the oaken armor.
Not exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s another option.
Yes, the chef’s outfit is quite nice. IMO it looks better on male sylvari, though.
The light armor is beautiful for T3. I have all the T3 Sylvari Culti armor =D I just love it. Oaken though is my favorite.
I like the light cultural armor options but I’d like something that looks less like a dress or a gown. Some of the medium sets are nice too.
I see you put a post in that thread. Since cultural armor won’t be put in the gem store, maybe change the request to plant based armor or outfits. :-)
I’ll do that, thanks

EDIT: I already started my own thread and someone there suggested I post this here as well.
I was browsing through the sylvari cultural armor sets and the Oaken set really caught my eye. The problem is, my sylvari is an elementalist and the particular set I was interested in is heavy armor.
The sylvari don’t have a lot of sylvari-looking armor to choose from. It might not be possible to put the cultural armor sets in the gem store, but I would love more plant based skins or outfits anyway. I’d gladly pay a few gems to get a bit more variety for my sylvari.

Not likely, people whined when the light flamekissed armor used the human cultural armor.
Yeah, that’s true. Well, one can always hope.

male counterpart.
Weren’t corsets, like, unisex?
I would actually love to see a norn male or a charr wearing one
I’m not sure which I’m waiting for the most: an expansion or Anise’s armor to be released. Regardless, I’ve lost count of the “GIVE US ANISE’S ARMOR” threads I’ve posted on, but I am pretty sure none of them have been noticed by ANet. I wish they’d at least give us a reason for not giving us the armor
See my comment above.
What would you give to people that aren’t human females?
People have been asking for Anise’s armor ever since the launch of the game. If ANet was interested in adding the armor to the game, surely they would’ve had enough time to create versions for human males and other races as well.
I really hope they will! I think the voice actors have done a great job so far, if an expansion is ever released I’d love for the Biconics to play at least some part in it

Is there any way we could have a voice cast video with the VAs of the Biconics or maybe with some of the other VAs from season 2? I’ve really enjoyed their work and would love to hear what they think about it. At the end of season 1 there was a video with Tara Strong about giving Scarlet a voice and I really liked that one.
I knew it! I love Julianne’s work, she was great as Evennia in GW1 as well.
Yes, it was obviously a different actress. Regardless, it bothers me that the actress didn’t even really try to 1) match the previous actress’ voice and 2) maintain a consistent accent.
I don’t think it was a different VA. It sounded a lot like Julianne Buescher to me. Her voice just wasn’t as deep as previously.
It worked! Thanks! That’s never happened to me before!
Nope, that didn’t work either. I tried restarting another episode and then starting Tangled Paths again but still no letter from Logan. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, I thought about sending a bug report in-game but there isn’t a ‘Living World/Story’ option when choosing the area of the bug. Or if there is, I must be blind.

Thanks, I just realized I could try restarting another episode and then starting this one again. I can’t try right now, though.
I just finished Echoes of the Past with one of my characters and tried to start the next episode but I didn’t receive the mail from Logan. I tried quitting the episode but it won’t let me do that either. When I click ‘Quit This Episode’ in the Story Journal, the quest information in the top right corner of the screen disappears but almost immediately comes back.
I’ve played Tangled Paths with two other characters and I’ve had no problems with it.
I don’t have any pictures to post but I’d suggest you try Argos Soft.

I use it all the time, it’s really useful.
@Samuli: Yeah, seems to be for Vigil characters only, which us odd given we just met them.
Yay more oversights!
For all the praise, E5 has a lot of oversights and inconsistencies. It’s like the 2 week break and overload of gw1 references have led to folks not realizing that E5 isn’t all that better than E1-4.
Nope, my character is with the Priory. Maybe it’s a bug or something.
I really liked the episode but Ghosts at Fort Salma definitely didn’t fit in. Didn’t the player character say something like “No, I haven’t heard anything from Marjory or Kasmeer since the summit”, even though we met them at Fort Salma? I can’t remember where that line was said, though. I think it might’ve been in the instance after Ghosts at Fort Salma, in the Silverwastes. Maybe while talking with Braham?
I thought it was a great fight!
Loved the mechanics. Granted it took a few tries to figure it out, but it was lots of fun. I liked how you actually had to think, and be aware of whats going on around you. It made for a more interesting fight, which is what we’ve been clamoring for for a long time now. I didn’t find it too difficult, after you figured out what to do, it was fun
I really liked the mechanics too. They were new and fun. The last fight was challenging but I didn’t struggle with it too much. I did go to downed state multiple times but never once died (thank the Six for Marjory). The fight with the Facet of Light took me much longer because my mesmer does hardly any damage.
I cried when I heard Crystal Oasis. Really. So much nostalgia.
I did too. I was already in a pretty emotional state after reading all those books in the library. Like the one which was about an asura, some humans and a stubborn norn killing the Great Destroyer, I was like “I was there, I did that!”.
I completely agree with you! I’m really hoping for some new pieces when the season continues. For now, I’ll just enjoy the Halloween theme, it’s amazing too
Your pieces are gorgeous. Seriously. The iceberg in the first one looks so real, it could be a photo! I really hope ANet notices your talent
I really like the new Noble Count outfit. Now, it’s not exactly Anise’s armor but it’s definitely a step in the right direction
Could it be a cape or a cloak? Adelbern wore one, didn’t he?
Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy delving into the lore and I really hope you have time to actually play the games. I think it’s important to see the lore yourself to really understand it. Anyways, looking forward to seeing your work!
Oh wow, really? Wow… I don’t even know what to say. I’m really disappointed.
This game needs more non-flamboyant light armour sets. I want anise’s armour and the noble NPC outfit for my Mesmer! Also give me Queen Jennah’s dress while you’re at it! <3
Yeah, Jennah’s outfit with some shoes would be nice
I, too, am tired of begging ANet to give us this armor. I instantly fell in love with it the first time I saw it before the release of GW2. Sadly, there’s been no reply from ANet and this is the fifth thread about this subject I’ve commented on.
Am I the only one who really REALLY loved the music with this patch? The pieces we hear during the World Summit are truly gorgeous.
This is seriously amazing. Bravo!
I’ve seen ‘wierd’ instead of ‘weird’ many times. And although English isn’t my first language, I’m quite positive the latter is the correct way to spell the word.
It can sometimes be difficult to remember the correct spelling for some words. There was an exercise with a long list of these words (‘whit’/‘with’, ‘Jhon’/‘John’…) in one of my English schoolbooks.
I try to check my posts for any spelling or grammar mistakes and I’m sure everyone (at least the non-native English speakers) does the same. Try to understand us, guys!
Concordia (in Timberline Falls) being crushed by the vines is pretty surprising IMO. How’s that going to effect the personal story quest Forging the Pact?
Yeah, it took super long to log in.
Ahhhh! That was so beautiful, really amazing. I can’t wait to hear it in-game. The music of GW2 never disappoints me.
