I wasn’t exactly sure where to put this, I figured this was the best place.
I got the base game essentially at launch, but I don’t plan on actually pre-ordering the expansion, I’m going to wait until Christmas before getting it.
What I’m really confused about is the whole free character slot benefit for those with the base game. The way the website words it sounds like I’m only allowed this free slot if I pre-order only, most sources only say I just have to buy the expansion.
So which is it? Do I just have to purchase the expansion or do I have to pre-order it to be given this benefit that really should be available to everyone who’s had the game before that January date?
I really love it! Thanks!

During the demolition escort event at the beginning, I remember how people joked about why it was called Bakestone Cavern while the zerg kept dying to the hordes of veteren karka. We ended up coming to the conclusion that the karka are hiding something, and they thought we were trying to steal it.
If you know what I mean…
I’m hoping there will be some interesting events and maybe a dragon there once things settle down as well.
I wouldn’t say a dragon, but I was hoping there at least something left after the event.
Besides the two jump puzzles and extra nodes, the new zone doesn’t really offer much beyond that. No vistas, none of the waypoints or POI’s count towards exploration, no skillpoints. There aren’t any meaningful events to do after the one-time event considering that after the event ended, there’s nothing that actually needs the waypoints.
The karka were rather disappointing, especially considering that they were hyped up to be an “ancient evil”, with the reality being that they were just animals who had their jimmies rustled because a group of idiots wanted to make their home into a resort. I had really hoped that they would have something to do with the DSD (Deep Sea Dragon, for those who don’t know).
All in all, the zone looks nice, but beyond that there’s no real point to it unless you want to do the jump puzzles, get some extra nodes, or fight overpowered enemies. It just doesn’t have anything special compared to Orr.
I, for one, do not appreciate your sarcasm.
I get that you’re frustrated and don’t have time to play video games anymore because you’d rather spend a few hours a day watching TV but…
Your name reminds me so much of a certain chain of e-mails…

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for food, I can tell you I don’t have any Twinkies. But what I do have is a peculiar appetite. An appetite that I have acquired at a very large moot. An appetite that makes me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my comfy chair go, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will eat you.”
so without any reset either weekly or monthly i may has well either quit looking for a group for this dungeon which is making me loose content in a game im otherwise enjoying.
Uhm—- no? Thats like saying no new players or new characters play the game. EVENTUALLY you’ll find a group. Heck I start about 3 hours late and found a group now I just need to find a group at my level. Its significantly harder to find a group higher level than it is lower level.
You completely missed that point of his post. What he’s basically saying is that without the reset, it will be very difficult to find a group at lower levels. The restrictions will be more community-based than game based.
Frankly, it’s like WoW’s raids, if you don’t do a raid once, you can’t do it at all. That’s why I hate community based restrictions.
So you’re saying that you want all the events to start on YOUR time? Wouldn’t that mean the people in America would have the same problem that you have right now?
That’s because the wisps are rather annoying to do, so they basically make up the entire time spent on the dungeon.
“Dangit Jennah, I gotta glue myself to you!”
“Logan, go do some adventury stuff”
“Okay”
Honestly, they should make some skill-based method to avoid agony, on top of the infusions.
How many people are just going to look at a race and immediately think “This should be playable!”?
What’s next? People asking for playable Stone Dwarves? (This is a joke, btw)
What’s a mesher?
Trollface
They wanted to cover up Gorr’s theory of the Elder Dragons consuming magic until they could come up with a way to take advantage of that.
“I have Weaponsmithing at level 50”
“There’s items I can craft that requires level 50, what does that mean?”
I have no response.
@Silentstorm
Nobody really knows of that Elder Dragon, which is kind of his concept in a sense. The ocean is a vast and mysterious place, and the fact that he has no name and that he has almost no information about him other than he exists makes him equally mysterious.
Pfft, you quoted “participate” as a key word, yet your spelling of it is abysmal.
Sorry about spelling issues, I’m not native English.
English is actually my 3rd language hehe.
Oh, I didn’t think of that. I never think of that, I’m really sorry.
It hates you, you borrowed the ‘Craft’ button’s stereo and never gave it back.
So I’m guessing any pistol users wanting to have something that basically screams awesomeness are kitten out of luck.
I doubt even most mesmers would be caught dead using this circus act.
I don’t know about you, but owning people in WvW with basically a plastic toy that shoots confetti is pretty awesome and hilarious. It’s great for Thieves and Engineers, not so much for Mesmers though.
I really don’t get how you can see Thieves and Engineers would trade their dignity for that party favor yet you can’t see the class of illusions and tricks using that weapon, as embarrassing as it is for them.
A story review from a GW1 Vet: Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the journey

I just want to point out that “I don’t play MMO’s” and “long time GW1” are contradictory to each other.
It doesn’t matter how you look at it, Guild Wars is an MMO and you can’t say you don’t play MMO’s if you’ve played GW1.
So I’m guessing any pistol users wanting to have something that basically screams awesomeness are kitten out of luck.
I doubt even most mesmers would be caught dead using this circus act.
Simple, finish his true Wyld Hunt of becoming the next Kormir and become a benevolent Elder Dragon. The cleansing of Orr was just a cover-up.
The problem isn’t the Fire Elemental itself, it’s more or less the Embers it summons. They’re the ones that spam that overpowered aoe attack.
You know the funny thing about the people who like how you’re no longer in the spotlight?
The sole purpose of the Personal Story was to give you that spotlight.
So when you’re saying that you think it’s a nice change that you’re no longer the hero, you’re basically praising something for not doing what it was meant to do.
How on Earth is that the best fight ever seen? I think exactly the opposite, it’s one of the worst ever. PLUS it’s too easy.
And enough with “oh but I love the game”, you don’t need an excuse to criticize something that is beyond awful. I, for an example, see the potential in GW2, but it has to be REALIZED in practice otherwise it’s no use.
I logged on just to say this:
How exactly is The Shatterer so bad aesthetic-wise in your eyes?
Why are you acting as if this game is the equivalent to Superman 64?
Why am I suddenly reminded of SoMuchMass?
My original text was;
“I’m just a scholar. I have no military experience”….. Wields a powerful greatsword, leads a united army of three different factions with ease, and seizes the spotlight in what was supposed to be your personal story.
Could be worse, at least he didn’t decide to take godhood from under your feet like Kormir did.
Just wanted to throw this out there.
I wanted to add text to it, but Quickmeme is stupid and Meme generator is broken.
All of my wat.
All of it.
Finished Twilight Arbot Story mode for the first time. You could say it was okay for a PUG, but for some reason, only one guy got any cutscenes throughout the entire dungeon.
Is this is a glitch, or is there some stupid rule implemented that only lets one person view cutscenes in dungeons?
So I finished Twilight Arbor story mode for the first time. For some reason I didn’t notice any cutscenes. I had assumed that TA might not have had cutscenes (For whatever reason) until I noticed that only one member of my party actually had a cutscene symbol over his head.
Note: I was the one who initially made the party, and I was sure I didn’t press anything when that particular member of my party got the cutscenes.
Is this a glitch?
You can’t possibly expect to kill ALL the main villains within the first month of a game’s release.
If you’re referring to places like the Blood Legion homelands, the Maguuma wastes, or the Crystal Desert, I don’t think they have been released yet.
You say you were criticized, but you don’t really specify what kind of criticism you got for crafting, could you please elaborate?
I googled the term Polasal, nothing came up so it must be a very old term (or you mispelled it). So in that regard I would think it would be safe.
Though if someone from that area knows of that word, they could end up reporting it. Or the trolls on here will report you now anyway because they now know what it means.
I would contact a GM/Customer Support and ask them, if they give the okay then ask for a note on your account giving the green light for this.
Otherwise I would play it safe, maybe use the celtic/irish word for rude or jerk.
Well, the full word itself is actually “Poll Asal”. Of course, I merely used Google Translate.
So the Sylvari are supposed to be based on Celtic/Irish mythology. I myself am not Irish, but I had the idea of naming my Sylvari “Polasal” wish is based off the the Irish word for “*-hole”.
Obviously, it’s a swear in Irish, so I need your thoughts on whether or not I could get banned on this.
But then who do we fight in Arah story mode?
You ignored that the OP said that he would flee after the Dynamic Event, justifying how “weak” he is.
The Shatterer isn’t an Elder Dragon, just a Lieutenant to one, who hasn’t actually shown up yet in the game.
Personally, I’d love to personally deal with that partridge in a pear tree.
Like I said, go back to WoW if you want raids, instead of assuming everyone is bad at the game if they don’t want to raid.
I consider not bothering to include a LFG tool lazy, yes.
There is absolutely no downside to having one. When people want to do a dungeon, they want to do a dungeon. They don’t want to have to stand around spamming messages in zone chat looking for people when they could just click to join a queue of other people who also want to do it.
Only a fanboy would defend the lack of this feature, just like SWToR fanboys did.
It destroyed the entire WoW community, and would give absolutely no reason to explore or do dynamic events. I don’t see how these aren’t downsides.
Sarcazar, if they gave a set 40-50% then it would always be the same whatever your true level was. The OP meant that it was silly to give say 20k exp for AC and 30k for CM regardless of level.
Perhaps the experience given should be determined of what would be the average level of the group.
You consider trying to find a group lazy, but ask for the very tool that turned the WoW community into idiots sitting in SW and Org waiting until they get accepted into virtual loot-machines?
I hated raids in WoW because it seemed like the entire community was focused on preventing me from getting into raids along with the fact that only successful raids seemed to run at midnight or around that. I don’t want to be blocked from witnessing the battle up front just because some people wanted a 10-20 man instance that the community wants so hard to make complicated. Dungeons do the job that raids did quite well without the hassle of beauracracy.
If you had that problem, then you probably really sucked at the game. Which in its self is sad, because that game was a cake walk.
It has nothing to do with sucking at the game, I could easily get gear and learn talants and a proper rotation. It had to do with the fact that I was not allowed access to vent, could not stay up passed 10, and I simply could not trust those guild websites asking for personal information.
If you just want to insult anyone who doesn’t want raids in the game because of bad personal experiances with them, then you’re just as equally sad. Go back to WoW and find a raiding guild to force you into tight schedules if you want raids that badly.
Currently level 5X, I notice that AC and CM give the exact same experience reward regardless of level.
I think that’s a bit silly, considering AC takes longer than CM and it’s less rewarding?
I think Dungeons should give a set 40-50% experience.
First you say it’s silly that dungeons give the exact same amount of experiance, then suggest a set percentage of what dungeons should give?
Wat.

My favorite part of my story was when my Charr Engineer was dealing with scrappers for the second half of the key for the treasure his father left for him to get. I had to protect them from ghost cows while they gathered artifacts for themselves. My response was absolutely hilarious when one of the scrappers replied to what they needed protection from.
“Cows. You’re afraid of cows.”
