Only if it was coloring details, like hilts and grips and the like depending on the weapon. Swords shouldn’t have a Ceylon bar for a blade.
Ah thats what I mean, like have certain areas being customizable color wise.
So I was thinking how some of the weapons in this game have a particular look for them but yet sometimes don’t match the armor dye schemes you can obtain with armor dyes.
Would anyone else like to customize their color sets with their weapons to match their armor? Would it be feasible to implement an idea like this? Just wanted to know if there are people who would like this idea.
Its not a bug, thats how it is suppose to go. And I’ve done it with a group of 4 people before easily. You have to know which units to get rid of and be sure to have Condition removal. Always get rid of Elementalists first, then rangers.
There are damage mitigation skills as well, each class has them, there is a reason why protection boon is pretty accessible by most professions.
Also knowing which attacks you can soak and what attacks you should dodge show a big difference in experience for players who have cleared this content without problems as a pose to others. Only dungeon I haven’t done is Arah, but the rest of the explorables I have with pugs in almost every group. Brushing up on knowledge will probably help you out.
your title didn’t specify CoF, I thought it was a general question.
So I’ve done a ton of runs of Honor of the Waves and have found something peculiar in regards to getting everyone to sync properly in the same instance. As it stands, most groups cannot even sync correctly in the same instance and everyone gets put into a separate instance.
Now, there is one consistent discrepancy that HAS allowed the groups I have run with to properly sync. And that is a friend of mine, who has been effected by the DR bug, where she is constantly getting DR in terms of rewards is the ONLY one of the people I know who is able to create an instance that everyone can join correctly. I have talked with 3 others regarding this bug, and they all have the same response so far.
I do not know if ANet is reading this, but hopefully this allows you to perhaps identify one of the ONGOING problems associated with this dungeon. As of yet, I am trying to get as many tokens I can for the hammar, but because of this bug, I won’t be even trying till the issues are fixed.
TL;DR – Those effected by the DR bug are the only ones in my experience who can start an instance at Honor of the Waves that allows people to properly sync together. Can anyone else confirm? Thanks
Honor of the Waves Butcher boss doesn’t have a cooldown persay, but he does have a certain rotation on his attacks. Don’t know about CoF.
A friend of mine has been unable to get their daily 60 tokens in the hotw paths, we’ve done the butcher path and zealot path separately after 24 hours and she keeps getting less and less tokens each time she has done it. She hasn’t done this dungeon for a whole week and only recieved 30 tokens yesterday, she waited another day and tried again and only got 15 tokens without doing the dungeon once. I don’t know what you guys are doing to fix it…but the DR system doesn’t seem to be working as intended.
Yes I’ve had similar experiences and I’ve been counting how many games I’ve had this occur to me and that has been 7. Seven times today, I’ve helped the initial team I’ve been on to get to 400-1xx score, and guess what, 4 players from the other team leave and I’m moved over with 1 other person to the opposite team to ‘balance’ the teams.
Honestly this is a really bad design that ANet should address, instead of letting people leave whenever they want, they should have a 20 second timer in at the beginning and the end to allow them to leave. Otherwise it should LOCK these players into the match so that they are not allowed to glory farm and then just leave their records ‘untouched’ by abusing this system.
Please ANet look into reviewing this system, because as a player, I don’t feel like I have that much incentive to pub anymore since this system makes it very unfair to players who stick throughout the entire match to see their labour rewarded at the end of the match as a pose to being switched over to the other side and getting a loss for it.
Still no real update since the last reply…I suppose you guys at Anet need to test these things before making it a live patch.
Tried running a group earlier today and every time we try to enter after one person has created the instance, each person in our group gets put into their own separate instance. Now there doesn’t seem to be any way to run this dungeon right now. Has anyone experienced something similar?
People also seem to forget that almost every boss that has the Unstoppable Buff is not immune to immobilize. Using some weapons or utilities with immobilize can make a hard fight into one that is manageable.
People in general are just so ingrained in that type of thinking. Honestly GW2 emphasizes an idea that “The only one responsible for you, is you.” Its not the ‘tank’ or ’healer’s’ job to keep you alive, you are.
What Maxi said. People have had this entitlement issue which has been seen in a lot of reactions to certain changes ANet has made. CoF speedruns changes are a perfect example of it.
The zealot path isn’t that hard, but its just a matter of preference I guess.
bumping this topic so somebody can address the issue, and hopefully not forget about it….
I find it amusing that players whining about the Magg route changes. When you consider how hard and the time it took to complete AC explorables, people honestly expected Magg’s route to be as easy as it was pre-patch? Get over it, if you’ve done any other explorables beside CoF Magg, then you would know that the other dungeons with their respective paths took longer and were more difficult.
Dungeon sets were meant to be exclusive to players who either 1) knew the mechanics behind the dungeons, 2) were well organized, or 3) really wanted the gear and was willing to invest the time behind it.
As it stands, there are already so many people with the CoF set that it almost seems trivial to call that set ‘exclusive’ when so many people have taken advantage of the route pre-patch. The only thing I think they should revert the silver reward for full completion, considering the time investment and difficulty of explorables. If you have to nerf it, then it should only be cut down in half once and leave it at 13 silver for consecutive completions of the same path.
Not only that, but the Boss is nowhere to be seen. This bug seems to have been in effect since the Monday update.
Thats odd, the groups I have been with are able to view the boss perfectly fine, its just that we can’t reach him because there is no floor in that entire area where the boss is situated.
There is a bug with this instance where at the end, where you have to face Gineva the Butcher, there is no floor where people can walk over to actually start the fight against the Butcher.
Does ANet know about this bug? And is there a fix for this path anytime soon? For now I’m just doing the Zealot path, but doing the Butcher Path every so often for the daily token bonus usually ramps up my token count to get my next set piece. A response would be nice regarding this issue.
Considering you only need to do dungeons as an OPTION to get a different cosmetic look, perhaps your viewpoint on dungeons being grindy is the problem in the first place.
Basically cosmetics, you can function perfectly fine without dungeon gears as the exotics have similar stats on them. As usual, most people take the ‘easy’ path and then when it gets fixed they get antsy about it and have a hissy-fit. Though they should just revert the silver reward change, as they made the dungeons harder and would actually take longer to do.
7/10
People who don’t get easy speed runs for gear that was designed as the ‘grind’ for cosmetics now come out of the woodwork. They were meant to be exclusive for a reason, and that was to get organized groups to do them and be rewarded for completing ‘harder’ content. Oh well, can’t satisfy everyone.
I’m also glad that they made these changes, Explorable modes were meant for organized groups (like guildies) to go through, making the Armor sets exclusive. Before this patch the Armor set was one of the sets I loved, but seeing so many people speed run it to acquire it made it more or less unappealing (everyone looks the same now). The devs said so many times that Explorable was meant for organized groups in reddit and twitch tv broadcasts.
Really? I have completed CoF with a group with 0 wipes, in this new patch, what did we do, we fought. A very organized fight. everyone knew what they had to kill and what they had to do. it’s really not that hard, just time consuming. You obviously don’t understand how the game mechanics work, and you’re obviously not utilizing combo fields and mass healing. I really hate it how you people come in here and cry all day about useless topics, Yes the dungeon system has problems. Is this a problem? NO, its not.
So what you are trying to say is that dungeons are now only exclusive to those who are very organized (alienating the casual yet skilled players) and probably belong to established guilds and/or with communications software to properly coordinate actions?
If they intended CoF or any dungeon to be hard why do this now? Now not 3 weeks earlier.. Also there are several other glaring bugs that needs to be fixed as compared to “buffing” the dungeon.
CoF is not the only dungeon but its where the masses gather, Honor of Waves is actually a better dungeon and way easier than CoF with an organized group and earns you more money/loot per run at a speed of 20mins, why is that dugeon not “buffed” why did they only change CM and CoF?
Talk is cheap if you are able to beat CoF with your claims ( 0 wipes, not kiting the event before the boss fight and a well organized run ) then please post a video so you can be a solution to this problem, dont be a part of the problem as you already are presenting your self to be.
The devs stated so many times that Explorables were meant for organized groups. As such, it should be treated. Get your facts straight, it was said so many times in reddit posts and even twitch tv broadcasts.
Personally, I’m glad these changes were made, because I really wanted to get that CoF set, but after seeing 500+ people get it doing speed runs, I no longer want it anymore as everyone has the set. I hope this will diversify where people will go for dungeons, as CoF was packed as heck, yet other dungeons were barren beyond belief.
I agree with Wooden on this one, they really need to make the choices matter and have consequences for them while creating a more seamless entry between story arcs. And really the story arc characters feel more or less inconsequential having them around or not.
Guardian with Wall of Reflection using a Shield will have no problem with this boss.
I’ve looked on 3 separate days during peak hours, and I’ve never been able to find a group at this dungeon entrance. Is there something wrong with this dungeon? Or do people just not find this dungeon interesting or too hard?
I have done Honor of the waves so many times I have both the pants for like 300 tokens and almost enough tokens saves up for the gift (500). So yes people do run this.
I suppose, but nobody seems to be interested as they are all in CoF doing speed runs. I see the same 3 people always looking for people to do HotW explorable, the rest seem to be bottle necked at CoF looking for easy tokens/exp/silver. Honestly that dungeon needs to be buffed in difficulty.
Both CoF and Manor need to be buffed in terms of difficulty to make those dungeon gears more exclusive. They’re both so commonplace as it is now.
Remember reading about this before and I sort of agree with it. But mounts (especially flying) take away any scale of the game and make exploration attempts trivial. That IMO of course.
The title pretty much screams out the maturity level of the poster…but perhaps only the story mode is because personally, the explorable mode is relatively challenging for newer players.

I just feel they really need to tone down the amount of HP some of the bigger mobs have, its not really enjoyable to kill trash that takes 20 minutes of kiting and controlling. All of the graveling stalkers, breeders and howlers need to really tone down either their toughness or reduce the massive HP pool they have.
