You have to select one or another of the weapons. You only get one.
You only need to have fully completed the world on one char to get 100% on the log-in screen. It might be worth going thro all the others carefully, given the number of WP/PoI changes there have been over the years.
Just attempted to report the Random Talking Bug in-game – and most of the menu options have turned into incomprehensible numbers. This makes reporting bugs impossible.
That is, since the patch, every time a Shout is used, or a downed player could ‘use some help over here’, or a Necro says ‘go forth my minion’ and so on, it is heard all over the map.
This is of course intensely irritating, to the point of unplayability.
EDIT: I notice that my char’s mouth moves every time the extraneous chatter comes up. I think that, every time someone says anything in the zone, it’s being put in my char’s mouth. This is being talked about in the ‘Problem With Talking’ thread elsewhere.

You are possibly using one of the Non-craftable Inscriptions like Shaman’s or Dire. Those require 5 Ectos to complete the weapon.
This is because the Craftable Inscriptions cost 5 Ectos to make in the first place, whereas the Non-craftables are dirt cheap from the TP or drops.
The ‘locked’ skill unlocks after you hit a Mino or Drake under 50% health, allowing you to launch your net and capture them. This can be a bit tricky to judge, if you’re a scaled-down lv80 and insta-killing them, but is does work.
The pit’s certainly broke, though. Of disabled, presumably because the concept of killing creatures in an arena might be too confusing to … meh, you know the drill.
You do realise that they’re platform boots, right? It’s not like the foot and toes extend all the way to the end of the hooves.
Yet another Update, and yet again my Human is standing there like a plank except for occasionally fiddling with her hair.
I’m coming to the opinion that the idles were removed intentionally, for Chinese-release reasons passing understanding, and they’re lying through their teeth about recognising it as a bug and addressing it.
All the Charming, Dignified and Ferocious interactions have been removed from starter levels. Obviously this was intentional – new players might suffer a nervous beakdown when confronted by little pictures of hearts, crowns and fists – but the results are even more confusing.
In the Queensdale Heart where one befriends the Ettins, for example, the player is presented with a wall of interaction-text and no explanation. As I said, this is even more confusing than having each response labelled with the appropriate icon.
It’s another case of the NPE cure being worse than what wasn’t actually a problem in the first place. It should be reverted.
Stupid question, but you’re fully aware that the Material Storage and Bank slots are different things and under different tabs, right? Thought I’d better ask, just in case.
Every Aqua Breather, including that one, is Soul Bound and unsalvageable. You could use an Upgrade Extractor, I suppose, but it’s probably not worth it.
(EDIT: Also, it’s a Karma item, iirc, which you can’t salvage anyway.)
Just to point out to the people saying that the loss of idle-animations is trivial …
Yes, they’re trivial – and you can say exactly the same about cool armour skins, combat-animations, detailed terrain, dialogue, character facial-features and all manner of other stuff. If efficient functionality is all you want, let’s reduce the entire game to a spread sheet, where you plug in certain values and then look at the result.
Fact is, we are not slogging through a spread sheet for our job. We are playing a game for fun. ‘Trivial’ ambiance and flavour-details – distinctive idles based on in-game race, for example – are important.
The simple and obvious solution would have been: An Engi sets their Back Item to visible, the hobosack doesn’t show. The Stupid Solution would be: Hobosacks make the Back Item gone, whether it’s set to visible or not.
Guess which solution they went for.
Level 29 Bug. Look down the list for all the threads of people talking about it.
This seems to be the common theme with almost every ‘improvement’.
Q: Hobosacks and back items mesh together in a horrible mess which must be fixed. Almost everybody hates Hobosacks. Almost everybody wants to have the cool backpack of their choosing.
To fix this do you, (a) get rid of the thing that everybody hates, or, (b) get rid of the thing that everybody wants?
tl;dr Idle animations are low priority and should rightfully be so.
On the other hand, the two possibilities are that the idles have been mistakenly switched off or removed. I would assume that switching em on again, or sticking em back in again, would require hardly any time or effort – certainly not enough to detract from fixing the more ‘serious’ bugs …
The Personal Story is the only thing I’ve found that gives the proper amount of xp at lv29. Luckily for me, I was saving my PS for later, and a couple of instances bumped me up from 29 to 30.
After that, the xp for everything else started behaving normally again.
If I’d wanted to make a tiny Norn, I’d have made a tiny Norn.
I made a human and I’d very much like her to act like one, thank you very much.
My first two thoughts were ‘hard’ and ‘balls’ – which can just about to be made to sound dirty if you push the context, but obviously not.
It’s ‘we are working (with much effort…[enter your first word here]) on fixing….’
And that’s why it gets censored. =P
And with the introduction of ‘on’, strangely enough, both of my thoughts would have been grammatically correct for what was possibly said. I’m a linguistic kittening genius!
(And just to edit my post as the red-tagged one did, I’m now gonna push kitten these keyboard buttons, and see if what I just typed turns it into ‘kitten’. And, if it does, point out that the contracted word is the one that should possibly be censored, should that be your bent, not the two discrete ones.)

I made a new char after the Patch and – having no Experience Scroll – levelled her up to lv28 by maxing the Cooking, Jewelry and Huntsman Crafts. At no point was there any problem and the xp worked exactly as it had before.
The problems started when I then decided to bump up a couple of levels by exploring all the Hub Cities. I happened to hit lv29 just as I entered the Black Citadel – and zone completing it netted 100xp.
I really think it’s a systemic scaling-problem with being a certain level (29), not specific things like Crafting being broken.
Just to note, as many people have – did you attempt to Craft when your character hit lv29?
For some reason, currently, you hit lv29 and you suddenly get almost no xp from anything, be it crafting, zone-completion, WvW or whatever.
Obviously a bug, which will hopefully be addressed.
I just wanna know what modifier of ‘working’ could possibly end up being censored to ‘kitten’.
My first two thoughts were ‘hard’ and ‘balls’ – which can just about to be made to sound dirty if you push the context, but obviously not.
This is happening with my new character, too.
I hit lv29 just as I entered the Black Citadel as part of my levelling process. Thereafter, every POI-discovery and so forth netted 8xp, and zone-completion gave a grand total of 100xp. The experience-bar barely moved.
This of course makes doing anything else with the character pointless, since she’s not going to get any xp for it.
Skill points are being dished out differently now. At whatever levels they are, you get 8 SP’s in one go. You don’t get 1 per level anymore, when levelling up.
Also, you have to be a certain level to unlock getting interactive SP’s. (I noticed that with my new char after the patch, when the info came up, but I don’t recall which level that is.)
Look at the req on the Backpack. Then look at the req on the jewel.
Sorted.
You convert gems to gold then buy the T6 mats for the gifts as T6 mats have really bad drop rates. A precursor for a GS is 1400g.
Yes, but converting Gems you bought with your credit card to Gold is an entirely different matter.
Are you saying that Zerg-farmers farm Gold and convert it to Gems, then convert the Gems back to Gold? I can see how that might work, with the fluctuating exchange-rates – but I honestly can’t imagine many Zerg-farmers have the acumen to do that.
… they want you to struggle for loot so you eventually cave and buy gems.
Just as a matter of interest – what exactly are you buying on the Gem Store that needs the vast amounts of Gold Converted to Gems Zerg-farmers claim to make? (There are better ways to make Gold by simply ‘playing the game’, imo, but that’s another matter.)
I’ve bought nice Costume skins, new character slots, gathering tools and so forth from the Store. They’re nice to have, but they’re hardly essential – it’s not like you can buy Legendaries, extra stat-points or a big red Win Game button from there.
Just as a suggestion on a possible fix: Instead of decreasing the restart time after a Fail and increasing it after a Win – do it the other way round. i.e. it restarts quicker after a Glorious Win than a Pathetic Lose.
That way, the Zerg-farm Brigade can farm to their hearts’ content, have some incentive to beat the thing – and, of course, show that they’re actually capable of achieving a Win in the first place.
If I recall correctly, that extra Skill was added because all the useful third-slot skills for Thief come with the Offhand, and you only start the game with a Main Hand weapon.
Fair dues if you use that skill, and can make it work better than the extra options an Offhand provides – but it’s essentially a placeholder.
What you’ve done is move the panel part-way off your screen, so the tabs for everything else have been cut off. Move it back by clicking on the bat at the top to ‘grab’ it, and then ‘drag’ is back by moving the mouse right while still holding the button down.
The mail from the Herald about Ascalonian Catacombs is simply telling you that you’re of sufficient level to do the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Personal Story.
Just to say – I suddenly realised that the ‘Ignore’ in the title might possibly be misconstrued, so I’ve changed it to ‘Hide’.
If you don’t want to partake in commanders activities then just mind your own business.
Although, surely, if I’m forced to see the Tag does it not then necessarily become my business? If I had the option to turn off seeing Tags, I simply wouldn’t care so problem solved.
The fact is that many Commander Tags are simply vanity items, used by players with a sense of self-importance but no real clue. And the – forced – awareness that some Blue Dorito is bumbling away on his own inconsequential business, is an irritation and a distraction.
If someone posted ‘I have 100g, I have 100g’ over and over again in Map Chat, he would obviously be Blocked if not Reported. So why not have the same discretionary blocking mechanism for the Map?
I won’t rehash the arguments for or against Commander Tags in PvE or otherwise. They have their uses, but many people find them irritating and nothing more than a kind of visual spam.
And now, of course, with the upcoming changes, there are swarms of them clogging almost every map.
The solution would be a Preference one can set so, if one wishes, one doesn’t have to see the things at all. Simple as that.
How’s your Server doing in WvW?
For obvious reasons, that’s the first thing to check when a stat mysteriously drops.
As an Engineer with a set of really expensive Static Spinal Blades, I can just about live with the fact that when I equip a Flamethrower or whatever, my lovely back item is replaced by the hobosack. It’s the price you pay for being an Engi, seeing as how nothing will ever be done about it.
However … flamethrower equipped, I activate ONE skill, and my Spinal Blades are back, kludged together with the hobosack, and the resulting mess looks even more awful.
This simply cannot be Intended behaviour. Make it one or the other. My personal preference would be that of a back item is checked as visible, it should override the bloody hobosack.
(For those who say this would give Engi’s an unfair advantage in stuff like PvP – oh, come on, you can tell what sort of weapon an Engi is using by the fact that he’s lobbing grenades or a big jet of flame is shooting out of his gun.)
So I’m going through Timberline Falls and, as usual, Krewe Leader Dobbs has bugged the Excavation Heart. No problem, I can just server-hop until I … oh, whoops, no I can’t now.
This has happened elsewhere, too, like with the Foulbear Chief who bugs out around three seconds after every reset and makes getting a Trait impossible. If you’re gonna lump everybody into the same Overflow, at least address the bugs and stalling-issues that constantly seize it up.
As it usually does. And because of the brilliant MegaServer experiment, I can’t even guest on another server to see if it’s working there.
If you’re gonna tie getting Traits to doing Events that bug out constantly, at least put in some mechanism to reset them when they do.
If you ever get 100% in a zone, it should stay 100% forever.
The downside to that idea is that while the ‘new’ 100% won’t give you another Reward, it’s necessary for World Completion.
Let’s say you’ve nearly got World Completion, but you’re missing a couple of POI’s because of Living Story changes or whatever. If all the maps still say 100% you’ll never find the missing POI.
I’m not counting the day before the first failed reset, cos I didn’t know there was a problem then. So some people say 2 days and others say 3.
… I have lost:
- 1 Laurel (I was able to complete a dily achievement before the panel got full)
- 2 Bolts of Damask
- 2 Elonian Leather Squares
- 2 Globs of Elder Spirit residue
- 2 Lumps of Mithrillium
And at a very conservative estimate:
-3 Empyreal Stars
- 3 Dragonite Ingots
- 3 Bloodstone bricks
- 15 Bonus Chest rares or above
And God alone knows how many random drops from various JP and Boss Chests.
I can live without the Bloodstone Bricks, I suppose, but where do I go to get everything else?
It’s possibly due to the fact that the daily reset for EVERYTHING is bugged …
Same for me, still no daily reset.
I can’t craft Ascended mats, I can’t open JP chests, I can’t gather from Home Instance nodes, I can’t get World Boss rewards, and I can’t get Daily Achievements because the panel is full.
Usually, saying the game is unplayable is a bit of an exaggeration. But not this time.
Logged in this morning, looking forward to going over my Dailies and crafting another batch of Ascendeds – some hope.
Achievements that you might have done yesterday have not reset. Time-gated crafting components like Damask have not reset. Collecting nodes like the ones in my Home Instance have not reset. JP Chests and Ori nodes have very probably not reset either.
Since all of these things can only be done once per day in any case, this is of course a huge pain in the kitten.
In short: It was a bit of fun that stopped being fun after a bit, and there was no easy way to stop it after you got sick of it – the mantra of relog-and-it-goes-away hardly ever worked, believe you me.
An NPC, somewhere, where you could go and toggle it, would have solved the problem for everybody. Instead, you got a day of people forced to see Bobbleheads when they didn’t want to, people accusing their requests to make it stop as trying to Ban All Bobbleheads for Everybody – and all in all a hugely toxic and divisive day of flamewar for all concerned.
Just to reiterate the basic point that the Haters seem to have missed:
If I had a checkbox, or whatever, that meant I’d never have to see another kitten Bobblehead again, I’d check it. How would that affect YOU? It’s not like YOU wouldn’t still see em.
At most, you’d simply have the knowledge that someone’s life, somewhere, is a bit better than worse – and to take offense at that is hardly a moral standpoint from which to come.
Just to ask, what’s a ‘dote’?
It just sounds to me as if a very vocal minority, want something taken away, simply because they dislike it. My attitude is, you get Normal play the rest of the year… you can spare one day for those of us, that like this sort of thing.
How the hell would ME being able to turn off seeing Bobble Heads affect YOU in any way?
This seems to be the point that most of the ‘get a sense of humor’ brigade are spectacularly failing to get.
