Wardrobe and Minis

Shadow Dragon.9874

This is a great little update. Hopefully they keep on improving the wardrobe system. For example there have been some posts in the past regarding how the UI could be improved by attaching consumable items to it (easy to access, always with you).

I made a thread several months ago (link to the post) with an idea (probably not a unique idea but anyway) in which I thought it would be cool if different gem store consumables would be accessible via simple UI. As an example makeover kits, repair canisters, boosters etc. would be available via UI.

These changes are looking promising. Hopefully more is coming

Have Black Lion Chests been updated?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Shadow Dragon.9874

I would assume that the gem store page itself has nothing to do with the actual loot tables of the black lion chests so by that logic the moment your client has updated to a new build you had the “new” black lion chests which included the permanent hair stylist contract in its loot table.

However do note that if the item has similar drop rate compared to the other contract items which also drop from the black lion chests, then the drop rates are incredibly low (like 1% chance or something like that, don’t know the numbers but I’m trying to say that the chances are very low).

I checked the trading post for this item and few buy orders have either been deleted (by the players) or they have been filled which would most likely mean that the item has already dropped to few people.

Legendary Armor

I wouldn’t hold my breath for legendary armor. Nothing suggests that those are coming anytime soon.

Also I agree with the point proviticus made. Legendary armor skins will immensely decrease the variety in armor skins that players choose to wear. Even though at first, without a doubt, the legendary armor will cost some serious amount of gold (which will help the situation, not everyone can get the expensive stuff right away) in the long term the situation will get out of control.

I’d personally prefer just to see a variety of legendary trinkets that’d offer some customization to your overall armor look.

Quick question about infusing Light of Dwayna

A quick question:

Some time ago I decided to craft Light of Dwayna backpiece to accompany my other backpiece (that has PvT stats). I chose celestial stats for my Light of Dwayna backpiece.

If I infuse my Light of Dwayna backpiece in the mystic forge will I be able to re-select stats for the Light of Dwayna backpiece (so for example pick berserker stats or something else) or will the infused backpiece inherit the celestial stats that I chose long time ago for the non-infused one?

Thanks for help

Continuing the post…

What could be in a template:

  • Skins
  • Dyes
  • Outfit
  • Finisher

If the template system switched things around automatically when switching a template it’d be nice if the skins and dyes were included. However this could possibly hinder for example the possibility of making templates shareable as not all players may have all dyes unlocked or have the correct armor set with a very specific skin. They might also not have the outfit unlocked.

But if it was just an additional feature that was for example presented near the current selection (current gear’s skin vs. template’s skin) that’d be quite cool.

Things to consider:

  • Sharing (chat links? codes? urls?)
  • Viewing (seeing some else’s vs. seeing your own)
  • Saving (notepad vs. local vs. account vs. web)
  • Building (one spot in UI vs. multiple spots)
  • Websites (third-party sites should work with in-game)
  • APIs (Could expose an API to third-parties)
  • PvP vs PvE vs WvW (each mode requires different configuration options)

How would you like to see any/all of these work?

I loved the fact how template sharing was done in GW1 and I think similar system would be awesome. In my opinion the most convenient way (from player’s point of view) to do this would be to have the template generate a unique code that’d work both as a template code and a chat link.

As a code it could be used to load up the template with its full information on the template screen and as a chat link it could work the way that if a player clicked the chat link it’d preview the template by showing the information on the template window.

As for comparing your template vs. someone else’s template. That’d be great, perhaps the chat link could have that feature (and also the template window, so you could even compare your saved templates with each other). So for example if the player right clicked the chat link it’d have “Preview” (just preview the build) and “Compare” (would bring straight to the comparison window and by default choose your current build to be compared to the selected one. If the selected template was a PvP build it’d compare your PvP template even if you were in PvE or WvW at that very moment.).

Saving multiple build templates would be great and I personally think the most convenient way from player’s point of view would be if the information was saved to account’s info (so not locally), perhaps limit the amount of templates a player can save. For example a limit of 20 or 30 maximum templates would be enough to please even the most hardcore build changers. Naturally an option to delete old templates would be a must.

Naturally it’d be great if each game type had its own templates. For example PvP doesn’t have other accessories besides amulet so configuring the templates to work differently for each game type (perhaps only show working templates if the player is in the correct game type area to switch the current build to match the one in the template. So you couldn’t switch your PvP build in Lion’s Arch for example).

Just my few opinions on this matter. Hopefully everything works out and you manage to make this feature an awesome one! Good luck!

Things that must be in a template:

  • Weapons
  • Sigils
  • Rune
  • Amulet
  • Skills
  • Traits

(As this is the PvP section it’s natural that this post includes only the PvP gear but if we’re talking about the templates in general the templates should include other accessories as well besides just the amulet for [PvE and WvW that is as PvP has only an amulet])

Not sure how this is planned to be implemented but by the sound of it either a build gets assigned a very specific list of items (very specific weapon, like “Some Name’s Hammer or Fire, Berserker Amulet” etc.) that the game automatically picks from your inventory and switches with the current gear.

Or the build template’s info is just visible around the correct spots so the player him/herself can see what gear he/she should pick to match the selected build template.

So case 1. Load template -> game switches the traits, skills and gear to match to be like in the selected template. If matching gear is not found or traits are not unlocked the template wouldn’t either load at all or would only switch the parts that are possible at the moment.

Case 2. Load template -> game switches traits and skills and prompts you to switch the gear (weapons [inc. sigil], armor [runes], amulet [PvP + others] and other accessories [PvE & WvW]) to match the gear set in the template. Possibly by showing only the gear the template’s criteria as selectable gear:

  • So for example if the template has exotic quality berserker stat light armor gear with superior runes of strength, the equipment area would only show exotic berserker light armor gear with superior runes of strength, not other types of armor the person possibly has in their inventory.

I personally think it’d be much more convenient if the game automatically switched everything to match the template but that could prove to be a difficult thing to implement to the game.

I liked the 1st birthday booster, wouldn’t mind seeing something similar for 2nd birthday.
However the minipet was not that great of an idea because you got the same minipet for each of your characters, if there had been variety and the minipets were sellable that would have been great.

So for 2nd birthday present I’d hope to see:

  • Booster (with magic find, gold find etc.)
  • A minipet from a new set (that only drops from the birthday presents, like in GW1)
  • Or instead of a minipet a choice of a skin (special skin available only via 2nd birthday present).

I personally disagree with the idea that the birthday presents should give out stuff like precursors. Birthday presents should be something small but fun because, after all, you only need to wait for the time to pass.

Would be funny if the intended drop rate was like 0.1% chance per ticket but was actually 0.01% (1:10 000).

Even though the backpiece does look very nice I don’t agree that the recipe itself should be this difficult to obtain. If it was a legendary backpiece then sure.

Do these drop anything else (I’d assume so judging by the name and the description of the item) and has anyone gotten anything else from these yet?

Fractal daily challenges (idea)

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Shadow Dragon.9874

Shadow Dragon.9874

As the fractal leaderboards didn’t happen (at least not yet) and (so far) there’s very little benefit for actually reaching lvl 50 at fractals I thought of a simple (a simple idea but naturally I have no idea how difficult this would be to implement to the game) addition to the current fractals:

Daily Fractal challenges.

After beating personal fractal lvl 50 at fractals you’d unlock the “fractal daily challenges” which would change daily (as the name suggests) and be the same for everyone. The challenge part could either be a time limit, having multiple mistlock instabilities active or something similar.

The challenges could be just one fractal map or more but the main point is that this would both act as new type of content related to fractals in addition to introducing a new way for players to possibly earn/get lucky enough to get high lvl fractal rewards (as you’d have to have unlocked the challenges to take part in them).

Later on as there’ll be more fractal levels (difficulty levels) the challenges could get additonal difficulty levels as well that require you to reach certain fractal level (for example “beat fractal lvl 75 to unlock fractal daily challenges hard difficulty”).

So, to recap: an idea of daily challenges related to fractals that’d require player having fractal personal lvl of 50. Daily challenges would re-introduce already familiar fractal maps but with a twist such as having multiple mistlock instalocks on or you’d have to beat the maps in a time limit or something else. Possibly a chance to get unique rewards etc.

I thought this was a fun idea and thought to share it with you. Hopefully you found it interesting

That’d be good though that’d naturally require the person that didn’t show up to be punished with a dishonored debuff as otherwise people could abuse this system by joining the match and leaving if they didn’t like whom they were to play against.

Region Reward Track -Plz Rework Rewards

in PvP

Posted by: Shadow Dragon.9874

Shadow Dragon.9874

Even though I wasn’t really amazed by the skin rewards I wasn’t all that disappointed by the rewards overall. The end chest is just fine but the skin choices were a bit poor as most of them are very, very cheap or/and easy to get by other means (like TP).

So I’d personally either adjust the region reward track’s final chest to either include an exotic level item of your choice with the region specific skin (so instead of a skin they’d give an exotic item, not a big change) + 1 transmutation charge (so you could still apply the skin to an item of your choice if you wanted without worrying about the transmutation cost).

I understand and agree with the idea that PvP reward tracks shouldn’t be as rewarding as doing similar things in PvE as rewards in PvP are merely a side-effect. You still get rewarded nicely but to prevent farmers from jumping to PvP just to get rewards it’s important to make the distance between PvE and PvP rewards large enough.

However, as of now I don’t think the region reward tracks are as balanced with the dungeon reward tracks. Sure you need to unlock the dungeon track if you want to do them whenever you want but putting that aside and simply observing the rewards the dungeon reward tracks are, in my opinion, by far more appealing. Not only because of the dungeon armors and weapons but because the region reward tracks offer very little advantage in comparison (just my experience).

From doing all region tracks I got a decent amount of different types of crafting materials so there’s that but I still think they could try to balance out these two-types of reward tracks a bit better.

For example the Orr reward track required completing all other region tracks and it was quite a disappointment to see that the skin choice was a mere “orrian” skin which, despite being rather cool looking weapon skin, is ridiculously cheap to get in PvE.

Naturally as I didn’t write down everything I got from the tracks + I only did each track once I can’t say much about the possible hidden/low chance rewards but with 300+ magic find I only found a handful of rares and few exotics (can’t remember exact amount) in addition to the crafting materials (which were nice I may add) and the final chests.

Just to repeat, I don’t think anyone will go for these reward tracks with rewards only in mind as they should be only a nice side-effect you get from playing PvP a lot. However, it’d make sense (at least imo) that the dungeon and region tracks were each as appealing with each other. The reward scale is just fine imo. No need for “10 exotics per track” but making the region tracks a bit more appealing would be nice. Just my two cents.

Didn’t notice any real difference and didn’t get anything special from the lower rewards. Naturally the champ bags were different (so they had chances of giving the exotics that are exclusive to certain bags) and drops were similar to the areas represented but overall not much of a difference.

Think I’ll finish the last area track just for the sake of it. But as of now it seems that the dungeon reward tracks are a bit more rewarding just because you actually get exotic level weapons in a rather rapid pace so it’s a good way to get your alts some weapons.

Slightly disappointed in the change. Before I could very easily avoid playing certain game modes or doing certain activities that I didn’t want to do on that particular day without failing to complete the daily. With the update I can see it becoming a more difficult thing to do.

If it’s about the achievement points in that case I’d be totally happy if the maximum points per daily would be 10 but there’d be more choices: if you do more than 10 the achievements after 10 do not reward AP (so for example if you completed all 20 or so you’d still get just 10 points). This way players would have more choices and point cap would still be the same.

Having ‘Mad Memories: Complete Edition’ backpiece skin does not unlock
‘Mad Memories’ backpiece skin, it’s direct ‘precursor’.

re: "Items that have gone through skin progression, like legendary weapons or Spinal Blade back items, will unlock all the skins in their direct progression line "

Actually even though the Mad Memoires (greenish book) was required to get the glowing book (complete dition) those two are separate items as you didn’t lose the pre-item when you got the “complete edition”.

So you should still have the two items if you didn’t delete the 1st book for whatever reason. I think the blog post was talking about how for example if you create an item in mystic forge (‘upgrade’ an item) and the upgraded item holds the info about the skin that was lost in the process of creating the new item.

I certainly hope so… I regret spending the last of my glory on tomes now.

Just curious. Is it that important in the long run? There are already quite a few skins that some may have missed, like the Fused Gauntlets (in PvE you got to choose 1 armor type for these skins so you got only 1 out of 3. In PvP you could get all via match reward chests.)

And if they brought back those skins via reward tracks that’d kind of ruin part of the reason to get those LS rewards during the actual events.

Hence I kind of like it that there’s a skin or two that are exclusive to PvP.

I personally do hope that it stays as “pvp exclusive armor” simply because there are already quite a few skins in the game that are either exclusive to PvE or are no longer available (limited time only skins) or have very, very limited supply (for example the Ghastly Grinning Shield).

So even though this makes it impossible for PvE only players to acquire 100% wardrobe (I doubt anyone will ever get 100% full wardrobe simply because it’d require so much gold to get all the expensive skins like mjollnir + all legendaries) I’d be ok with it.

Hey thanks for the thread, was looking to craft some rare pvp skins (i’m r50) but couldn’t figure out the recipes… Is there a possibility to:
1. cheap as pve skin (share not the same name… which is pretty hard to find out)
2. craft them in pvp (with <r50 or tournament tokens)

Axe: Bonecleaver, Sinister, Justice, Sephis
Dagger: Bloodfang, Salient
Focus: Spirit Chalice, Straw Effigy
Greatsword: Long, Steel
Hammer: Maul, Spiked Crusher
Longbow: Hornbow, Avian, Stoneshard
Mace: Spiked Club
Scepter: Frog, Hypnotic, Onyx
Shield: Blood Bulwark, Ornate Defender, Tall
Short Bow: Short Hornbow, Avian
Staff: Fire, Wing, The Crossing
Sword: Dual Edge, Aflicted Blade, Swordbreaker
Torch: Plated
Warhorn: Glyphic, Windstorm, Siren

Some of those skins are listed on the list located on: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_reward

For example the glyphic weapons are on wolf rank tier.
I personally do not know most of the recipes (heavily relying on the info on wiki and so on) so unfortunately cannot check the item recipes.

However, I’d suggest trying to check the pvp locker for the skins (preview till you find the correct skins) and then check the pvp name on wiki or so (for example you can search “fire staff” on wiki and it’ll give you the pvp fire staff result (that skin requires phoenix rank tokens though so it’s easier to get in PvE).

Ty for the guide.

atm. besides of several pvp mats, I still have ~40 tournament chests and 100k glory left.
I would like to go for sth. like infinite light or equal.
Any ideas, what the chances for slavaging phoenix tokens / getting the sword out of the MForge are?

In addition, I struggle between 2 methods:

Either buy t2 cultural armor and slavage it for phoenix tokens, or use the glory, I would need for the t2 for mystery coffers and hope that I’m lucky with those.
In addition, I would at least always get some more mats out of the coffers. But therefore I don’t know how the “procrates” for rare skins are and it seems more random, as I maybe would get a rare item, which I don’t want or might already have.

So any suggestions?

It’s a gamble either way. I have tried to get few rare pvp skins that are the result of the so called “proc” in the mystic forge and to my experience I’ve had to try (on average) around 3-5 times before I got the wanted result. Few times I got the item on first try but few times it took me almost 10 tries.

So if those two choices you mentioned are indeed the sole choices in this case, I’d p

with 100 000 glory you can get 500 mystery coffers (+costs 24g). However, at least to my experience and also the info I could find suggests that the chances of getting high rank skins from the coffers are not that high so keep that in mind. You could end up spending all the glory without getting any phoenix rank skins.

if you decide to go with the T2 armor you can get two armor boxes with the 100k glory (one box = 40k glory + 3.5g). That’d give you 12 chances to possibly get a phoenix token from salvaging and with that token you’d have a chance to get the runic blade from the forge.

I personally would go with the T2 armor gamble only if I had no interest in the other skins in the pvp (as with 100k glory you can craft quite a few items) but I would prepare myself for a disappointment as the T2 salvage + proc from forge involves just way too much RNG for my taste.

So, I’d personally first make sure that I have unlocked all the relatively easy to get skins (easy to get in PvP) that do not require high rank tokens (like phoenix rank tokens) and after that go with the T2 armor box as even though the chances of finally getting the sword skin are quite low (because of all the RNG) the t2 armor is still a guaranteed phoenix rank item and with 1 box you get 6 item pieces so that’s 6 tries.

But, in the end, it won’t be easy and is heavily relying on you getting lucky. But out of those two choices, if the only thing you want is the phoenix rank items (that you want to salvage for rank tokens) I’d go with the T2 armor set route instead of buying a mass of mystery coffers.

In PvP some of you may have some crafting materials saved up (slivers, powder, tokens and so on). I looked around and checked wiki to see what items to craft ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_reward ) and based on that I crafted some items myself and here are some tips on what to get in PvP (notice that the PvP crafting may require multiple tries as same recipe has multiple item outputs):

For the PvP crafting you should have some pvp crafting materials saved up or a way to salvage some from pvp items. These materials include the powder, orbs, crystals, slivers and tokens. Notice that if you have glory left you can buy item tokens from the glory vendors. Rank tokens you can get by salvaging proper pvp gear (related to the rank in question).

If you have paid tournament tokens + item tokens and the other materials (the easier to get materials) there are some rare skins that can be rather expensive to get in PvE:

If you think it’s worth it you might want to try to craft some of the dungeon weapons in PvP to avoid farming dungeon tokens, info found on wiki. Same goes for dungeons armors, however, a lot of them are restricted by rank lvls. But for example Inquest armor (CoE dungeon) can be crafted with paid tournament tokens (+ other materials).

Might be worth it to you to craft the Vigil, Priory & Whisperer weapons too as they cost over 3g each (one handed are 3g 60s and two-handed are 5g 52s each), these require free tournament tokens instead of paid tournament tokens:

As for rank restricted rewards (instead of tournament tokens you need rank tokens, such as tiger tokens for tiger rank items):

Rank 1-9 (rabbit) & Rank 10-19 (deer) & Rank 20-29 (dolyak):

  • Didn’t see any armors/weapons that aren’t easy/cheap to get in PvE so no suggestions for those rank lvls.
  • EDIT: at rabbit rank you can craft peacemaker’s weapons (T3 Asura cultural weapons) so you may save quite a bit of karma if you craft them in PvP instead
  • at deer rank you can craft Charr T3 cultural weapons (gear weapons)

Rank 30-39 (wolf):

  • Priory armor – light, medium, heavy (entire set of order armor = 8g 88s, might be worth it to craft in PvP if you have the materials)
  • Masquarade armor Cannot be acquired in PvE at the moment
  • Commando armor Heard that this armor set isn’t available in PvE (or at least as a full set), someone can correct me

Rank 40-49 (tiger):

PvP Achievement reward (item) and patch?

in PvP

I wonder what will happen to the PvP Achievement reward chests ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Achievement_Rewards ) after the patch if you still have them in your inventory by that time. Will the item still work but instead of giving out actual items the items simply work as unlocks for wardrobe?

Should we open these now and salvage for materials if we already have the skins or should we wait for patch?

I’m not sure what I’ll do with mine as I already have most of the skins unlocked (or at least the ones I think can be gotten from these items) and I don’t think I’ll need extra pvp materials. But just seeing them go to waste would be a shame too. What about you, what do you plan to do with your pvp achievement reward (chests) if you still have them?

Solo and TeamQueue: What's the point now?

I wonder whether there’ll be any additional rewards for playing/winning tournament/ranked matches (solo/team queue) after the patch.

Hotjoin will most likely be the fastest way to get rank points even when the rewards per hotjoin match are lower.

Ranked matches have leaderboards attached to them but will that be enough to keep players interested in playing ranked mode vs. just jumping in to hotjoin if there’s no other rewards for doing well in ranked matches?

Not long ago we had tournament match win chests and even though you could quite quickly get all (or at least vast majority) of the skins available in those chests (unless I’m mistaken) it was still something extra and gave few players a reason to play ranked matches.

So, do you think having no additional rewards will be enough to keep players interested in ranked modes? Or do you think there’ll be new rewards for winning in ranked matches? If so, what type of rewards you think there should be?

I certainly hope that there’ll be rewards for doing well in ranked matches. Otherwise the queue times will be even longer in the long run as players that want the rewards most efficiently will jump into hotjoin (no queues, quick rewards etc.)

Just as an additional idea, this sort of “use item from separate UI screen” could be used with the minipets. However that would require a different sort of method behind it as you can’t simply consume minipets and gain uses as most minipets are not account bound (so reselling minipets would be impossible if you consumed it).

This could also apply to different tonics as well but mostly I’d personally like to see the account bound services (such as trading post express etc.) update.

Make Terrace Passes infinitely redeemable

Already posted my own topic on the suggestions area about an idea of creating a new sub category UI page for account bound services items such as trading post express, royal terrace pass etc. that’d work similar to the way PvP finishers UI screen works.

You consume an item and gain uses appropriate to the item that you consumed (permanent upgrades give infinite amount of uses, single use items give 1 use etc.). Then you’d use the item from the UI, just like how you select PvP finishers or how you withdraw achievement point reward skins.

Would be awesome. But yeah overall I agree that infinitely redeemable pass or account wide upgrade by consuming the item would be great ideas

I’ve had this thought for quite a long time as I’ve been lucky enough to have one of the permanent contracts for quite a while. Finally with the newest Gem Store item addition, the permanent ‘Royal Terrace Pass’ I thought to share my idea (which undoubtly quite a more than just me have had in mind):

It’d be great if permanent items like Permanent Royal Terrace Pass, Permanent Hair Stylist Contract and so forth would have the option of converting them into accoung upgrades.

And at the same time would be great if single use items of same style would become account upgrades as well (just not permanent).

As an example, with the PvP Finishers there’s a separate UI screen for the said finishers and you gain uses for each appropriate finisher if you consume a non-permanent finisher item (for instance if you consume a Limited-UseThornroot Finisher item you gain 5 uses for that finisher. If you buy the permanent finisher (account upgrade) from Gem Store and consume said item you gain infinite amount of uses for that finisher).

So, with permanent contracts and other permanent items of that style (that fall into the category of account bound convenience consumables/services) it’d be great to have a separate UI screen for the account wide convenience consumables and services. Perhaps under the Finishers tab in the hero tab with an appropriate name ie. “Consumables and services”.

This way you could consume for example a 1 time use Self-Style Hair Kit and it’d add 1 use to the UI screen. That way you could simply consume all your kits and get appropriate amount of uses added to the UI screen for easy access. As for the permanent contracts, it’d be great if you got infinite amount of uses by consuming the item, just like how the PvP finishers work.

This could be applied (in my opinion) for such items as:

  • Self-Style Hair Kit (or equivalent permanent contract)
  • Total Makeover Kit
  • Trading Post Express (or equivalent permanent contract)
  • Bank Access Express (or equivalent permanent contract)
  • Merchant Express (or equivalent permanent contract)
  • Instant Trait Reset
  • Banker Golem (2 weeks)
  • Royale Terrace Pass (either the 2 week one or permanent)
  • How to Dance volumes (perhaps?)

Just as few examples. And at the same time this system could be used with the account bound boosters like Glory Booster, Magic find Booster etc. (certain boosters are character bound so it wouldn’t work for those naturally).

So, in short:

  • It’d be great if account wide consumables could be improved by making a separate UI section for them. Limited use consumables would add an appropriate amount of uses and the UI would tell you how many uses you have left, you could also activate the said consumables from that screen. Much like how PvP finishers UI section works.
  • Permanent items that fall into the category of account consumables / services could be consumed to gain infinite amount of uses, just like how PvP finishers work currently.
  • This idea could possibly (?) be applied to both account wide services such as Makeover Kits and different type of Express items in addition to items like Royal Terrace Pass and account bound boosters.

Thank you reading.

Would love to see the profession NPCs in this area, after that the area would be pretty much ideal to me.
