Hardcore gamer of MMO’s for 10+ years here. I do not like gear treadmills and think they are kitten. This game got worse BECAUSE they added ascended gear, this game did not need time-gated gear progression. Horrible design choice.
Getting against teams with the same class x2-3 and being with the same class x2-3 isn’t very fun and greatly reduces either teams chance of winning. It’s a bad daily.
I like it how it is and want more revealing female armors.
Can you please change it to only needing 2 scraps per refinement and not needing 100 per ascended material instead of the 50 every other mat requires? The price of silk is going up AGAIN and there’s no reason for a single ascended mat to be 4x the price of the other ones.
You do not need mastery to equip ascended armor. Ascended armor is BIS gear. You do not even need ascended armor to do all the content in the game. You can just use exotics. None of this requires a grind.
You’re CHOOSING to grind.
Game is as grindy as YOU want it to be. Perfect design.
Why would you think you could wear two AMULETS after 50+ hours of gameplay?
“casual” does not mean “amateur”. Nothing in this game needs to be made easier, things need to be made harder. If you are finding things in this game too hard or challenging, you need more practice and need to improve more.
I’m entitled to matches that are actually fun to play.
I don’t care if I win or lose as long as the match was even and fun – which is almost never the case.
I just want CCing someone to be a conscious decision a player makes, not something that game automatically does for them.
I have 90%+ win rate in starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3(back when I was 12 years old) 1v1, yet I can go on 10+ loss streaks in GW2. Team based games are generally like this, but I think GW2 has the worst of any team based competitive game matchmaking I’ve played.
Making the game worse and ruining balance because “new players” or “people might not be smart enough to understand how skills work in multiple game modes” is a BS cop out excuse.
Games should NOT be made worse just because you feel the need to design around the dumbest person alive. I’m sick of this garbage mentality showing up in every game. Humans should not be coddled and treated like morons, they should be forced to become more intelligent and aware of things, but instead we just coddle them so much that the race as a whole is going to start getting dumber by the year because we need to cater everything to that one guy who is too stupid to understand that the fresh steaming hot coffee they just bought might burn their mouth if they drink it.

Who doesn’t like getting CCed by a pet the player isn’t even controlling on a low CD?
bank expansion is essential for gathering and storage of materials needed for crafting. One bank slot and 250 material storage is hardly enough for materials needed to level in crafting
And yet, when the game launched EVERY SINGLE PLAYER managed.
And I bet the majority are still managing.If you feel something is really that essential and given there’s no monthly sub you should buy it with rl cash. It’s also still possible to use in-game gold. If you’re playing enough to be gathering and crafting enough to need expanders, you should be earning enough to pay for it with in-game gold. Can’t really have it both ways.
When the game launched there wasn’t 4 keys to keep in your inventory for HoT zones, SW shovels, and 2 more keys for drytops + silver wastes.(or bank)
When the game launched, champions didn’t drop loot bags, events didn’t give loot bags, your inventory wasn’t constantly filled with 50 different loot bags.
When the game launched. there wasn’t 30 different armor/weapon/jewelry books filling up your inventory(and bank).
When the game launched, there wasn’t 50 different coat/armor/glove/hat/etc boxes filling up your inventory(and bank).
When the game first launched, there wasn’t golden fractal relics, agony infusions, ascended t7 mats, experience scrolls, wits of experience, or many of the inventory -1 raid legendary unstorable items clogging up your invenryo(or bank).
When the game first launched, there wasn’t chak eggs, gifts of every HoT zone(fleet and stuff) just from finishing the zone clogging up your inventory.
When the game first launched, there wasn’t shimmering crystals, perfect mist cores, etc clogging up your inventory(and bank).
When the game first launched, there wasn’t ascended items that require 1k+ of materials for a full set of gear, and 250 storage was fine for crafting anything not a legendary.
When the game first launched, you weren’t given living story 2 rewards for mawdrey that take up like 6 inventory slots and can’t be stored anywhere but a bank/inventory.
Times have changed, the game has changed. The game now shoves so many items at you that playing without full 20 slots(100 total slots) or full bag slots unlocked is not bearable. Doing a single AB meta fills your inventory insanely fast, where you sometimes end up spending more time managing your inventory/visiting a mechant than actually playing the game. Doing any content does. This wasn’t the case before. There isn’t enough default bank space for all the stuff the game throws at you that you cannot store.

There’s literally video options to turn down spell effects, why exactly is this FORCED onto us?
I don’t get it, give me my fireball and auras back if my computer can handle it.
Please remove these dailies, I constantly get teammates or am against players who are playing classes they have NO IDEA how to play simply because they want their daily done. It completely ruins matches regardless of whether you win or lose.
The only reason this was changed was to get people back into WvW after the HoT changed decimated the WvW population.
Making people do content they don’t want to do always makes the content massively worse for the people who actually want to be there.
Can we please have separate balancing between modes? At the very least, just numbers(damage, healing, damage reduction)?
Certain things that are deemed overpowered in PvP completely kill off a weapon or spec in PvE when changed(Like truehot losing 20% damage).
I can understand different abilities, or mechanics being confusing for “new players”, but why can’t we just adjust numbers on skills for different modes?
If a skill is overpowered in pvp, why can’t it only do less damage or healing in pvp? Why does it have to get nerfed in ALL game modes? How is that confusing to anyone? It’s the same skill, it just does slightly more/less damage/healing depending on the mode. I mean, this is already a fact of modes. You do more damage in PvE because of buffs, you do less damage in PvP because of less stats overall, you do more damage in WvW sometimes because of WvW buffs, etc.
It’s really upsetting for an entire weapon or spec to just made completely irrelevant and no longer good because it’s overpowered in x mode, especially PvP, making it nerfed in EVERY single mode. It’s generally just number nerfs too – which are not going to be confusing to anyone, so why can’t skills just be nerfed in the mode they’re overpowered in if it’s just going just be a FLAT damage/healing nerf?
At release you had the tools available to nerf/buff things in separate modes, what exactly changed?
Trying to balance the entire game and all three modes at the same time is only going to cause headaches for not only the players, but you too! It’s much more complex and difficult to have good balance when you’re trying to balance skills in THREE different modes. Please, damage/healing number differences between modes is not confusing or complex at all, let them have different numbers depending on the mode if something is too strong or too weak in some form of content.
Please, I beg you Anet, separate skill numbers between modes when balancing. It will make the game much more enjoyable for EVERYONE involved, and it doesn’t seem like that much more work.
Problem with fractals is the teaming requirement. Dungeons are also PvE and we don’t get them as PvE dailies so why is it okay with Fractals?.
GW2 is a MMO right? I think that the first M stand for Multiplayer right? Just checking.
If everyone was replaced with AI in dungeons/fractals/open world PVE I don’t think anyone would notice a difference, honestly.

Page 15, and a reminder that damask is 100 bolts of silk instead of 50 like every other ascended mat, and also over 4x the price of every other ascended mat. Anet designed this item to be more expensive so that silk would be useful, and forgot to revert it back to 50 bolts of silk per damask after silk became insanely expensive.
So anet, why won’t you revert this change, or change some of the ascended backpiece recipes from >>15<< damask to 15 elonian leather?
John is probably never going to even acknowledge this fact because he knows he’s wrong and he straight up refuses to admit to his mistakes or fix them. Sucks for us players, I guess.
You don’t micromanage markets to maintain equilibrium. Not only is it an incredible amount of work you can never be wrong in, it’s not physically possible inside a live game environment.
You assume that absolute parity is required inside of tiers, I don’t necessarily agree.
Except this is LITERALLY what you did, you changed silk bolts from 2 scraps to 3, then made it take 100 bolts of silk per damask instead of 50 like every other ascended material. Which actually made sense at the time, except that leather was equally as worthless and you didn’t do the same thing to leather.

Zealot’s armor needs to have it’s material costs re-examined, badly.
It was created when 500 sprockets were nothing and the current living story gave you tons, it’s not like that anymore. It was a sink for them when they needed one.

the whole point of this discussion is that the matchmaker needs a revamp when it comes to prof distribution. one side should never have 2 guards while the other has zero. one side should never have 3 rangers while the other has none. and so on. this needs to be a major RULE the matchmaker follows. then, amulets. cant have 3 cele amulets on one side, none on the other.
This is bad feedback please don’t give it to the devs
All temp content that they removed. So much content that’s missing from the game for absolutely no reason, would give players more to do and increase the amount of people playing the game.

Because it’s killing the rest of the game. Don’t you get it? GW2 is completely dead now except for this one lone map. Dead I tell you. Dead.
Joke all you want, but it’s actually going to ruin the economy and kill off other areas of the game if let alone too long. Humans take the path of least resistance, and right now auric basin is by far that path.
You can’t just let an easy exploit go unfixed for months.

Hey folks,
How about instead of wasting over half your entire dev team on something that doesn’t benefit(and actually HURTS) your current playerbase, you use that dev time to add relevant content to the game for people actually playing the game?
So much wasted dev time on a 100% worthless feature that all existing players mutually agree upon is BAD, when you could’ve used this dev time to create new content for all of us to play.
You need to completely change your priorities, because if they simply are “gain more new players” instead of “keep existing players still playing and make them happier with more things to do”, you have no idea what you’re doing.
Sorry to say this, but the fact you’re still releasing bugged and obviously broken content 2 years after release is laughable, do you have no pride in your work? Can you not hire a competent QA team? Test things before you release them, for once, please?
TLDR: Spend less dev resources and time on pointless features no one wants, and instead use that time and resources on creating new content that’s long lasting and will actually keep your current playerbase playing.

Yeah it’s pretty bad design to encourage people to do things that don’t help their team.

I don’t think matchmaking is good at all.
I’m being GIVEN loses handed to me on a silver platter. Constantly being given the same exact players who do not own HoT or do not wish to win games. They suicide far over and over while we control 2 nodes already and don’t defend a node once the entire game. I’m also getting people who zerker amulet guardian and instantly die at the start of every team fight and then I ask very nicely if they could play more defensive and stay further back, they say no and say they’d rather feed and lose the game.
These are not winnable games. These are t2 sapphire games, but I still shouldn’t be getting completely unwinnable matches like this. It isn’t fair or fun to get these players.
When I’m intentionally avoiding players I get on my team by adding them to my friend list and not queueing until they’re in a game, something is really wrong with the matchmaking.
Diamond skin cleansing taunt = cannot move.
I have a thread in bug report about it(but you cant bump threads). It’s a game losing and breaking issue when you can’t control your character in PvP and it can happen dozens of times in a single 15 minute PvP match.
It makes no sense that it takes 100 silk per damask.
Why is anet OK with one ascended item being over triple the price of the other ones?
Blocks, blinds, dodges, and invulns are equally effective at mitigating condition applications.
No they aren’t, there’s tons of unblockable AOE conditions and even runes that completely ignore dodge, blocks, and blinds.
Conditions are the easiest to apply damage in the game.
No, I do not like this idea. It makes the raiding experience feel less epic.
Everyone I know who played GW2 at release for ~6 months quit due to time-gated gearing(Ascended laurels, this was even before ascended gear was BOA so lol @ gearing more than 1 char) and temp content.
Both things seem to have gone away, honestly, as laurels as MUCH easier to get now and ascended gear is BOA. Temp content is pretty much completely gone outside holidays, which is 100% fine and how temp content should work. Great to see Anet learn from and admit to their mistakes.
I mailed two people and now I can’t mail anyone else. TWO people.

I don’t see why it needs to be TWO whole people to stop goldsellers. The cap should be like 10 or 20, something a normal person wouldn’t experience. When your anti-goldseller measures are so excessive that they effect normal players you’ve failed.

If you win the game your team should be able to vote whether or not you get an abandon/dishonor imo. It shouldn’t be an automated system – sometimes your team just won’t care because they saw you played well the entire time you WERE in the match and most people generally understand that DC’s are uncontrollable. You can also DC at the very end and get an abandon too can’t you? Which means your team would be like “Huh, he/she was here all along and healed me, downed this person, ressed me, etc, I want them to be rewarded too!”.

I was on my d/d celestial ele which I have no idea how to play, and was 1v1ing a full spirit weapon guardian who did nothing but summon spirits then buff them with his staff. I tried to AOE them down.

Hope DH is never good until they remove heavy light entirely from the game. Passive auto-cast CC does not belong in GW2.
Any competent DPS can kill a clerics tempest in less than 10 seconds.
Is the healing overpowered? Yes.
Should healing be this strong in PvP? No.
Should the class be nerfed? Yes, if other things are nerfed(eng/ranger tankyness, aoe cc, aoe condition bombs, condi warriors bloated mace burst skill just to name a few).
I’ve never gotten mail from a gold spammer.
I don’t enjoy restrictions that do harm to me as a player to counter gold sellers.
Page 18, john still not has answered why damask is still 100 bolts of silk instead of 50 when silk is so expensive compared to other t5 mats and every other ascended item is only 50.

Why add content when you can add cash shop items?
Mists/SPVP is like the best place to go if you want to report people. I see constant verbal abuse and racist language all day. They need to hire someone to just monitor pvp areas like they do with forums and to clean it up
