So I’m just clarifying…. I only have 1 achievement left to get the Meta for Battle of LA. Will I be to late to get it finished tonight after I’m done with work?
I hope not! : (
I just wanted to pipe in here and provide some clarifications as it appears some people have misconceptions.

So when we run into Anet people in game you don’t want to talk to us?
But I want to give you hugs and cake? Do you not want cake? Though come to think of it, I’ve never seen Anet people on JQ. I’ve seen you guys on other servers (even as enemies in WvW). Seen you while guesting on Tarnished Coast. But no JQ….
Ah, but don’t worry I don’t actually want to harass you guys in-game. I figure you are running around playing.
I fly with my tag on quite a bit. I seem to have plenty of great conversations. And cake.
I’ve seen Devs On JQ countless times. Played with a two during some WvW
Best Idea in a long time, second only to Cantha Expansion
Blinds arn’t part of my minion build. And if someone as good as you didn’t know what to use how do you expect everyone to just glean this knowledge out of the thin air? I never said anything about glitches, just saying.
Fractals says right in the opening cinematic that it will test you. If your not willing to study the encounters, study your classes, study class combos, and vary your build to best fit the encounters; then quite frankly FoTM isn’t for you.
Play the way you want. In this case, don’t play Fractals. It’s not for everyone. Just how all content may not be for everyone. Your desire to finish Living Story updates needs to be measured with your ability to adapt as well. Most LS updates haven’t had to much adapting required but there has been a few ( Aetherblade Retreat / Molten Compound ).
Just remember, there is a huge amount of GW2 fansites with the information you need to be successful in EVERY part of the game. You just need to want those things enough to seek that information out.
I’d say more of a Tower of God then a SAO. Though both actually had stories in comparison to Nightmares lack of …
Because it would make for an epic campaign story in which we believe we’re simply liberating Cantha from a racist and insane Emperor whose ideals of purity have divided even the human populations of Cantha into half a dozen subgroups and helping the Tengu reclaim their ancestral homes. And then we learn the Emperor of Cantha has been possessed by the will of the Deep Sea Dragon and our best way to defeat him involves summoning Shiro Tagachi back from the dead in a semi-faustian bargain.
The final mission/story dungeon involves sieging the Imperial Palace in Kaineng backed by the soul of Shiro Tagachi himself who, with each Imperial Loyalist/Deep Sea Dragon corrupted we kill, they are turned into an afflicted or Shiro’ken, as we get closer to the Emperor himself. Any concerns we have about about the fact that we’re undoing everything done to stop the Affliction is, literally, blasted away when the Deep Sea Dragon tears open the roof of the Palace to support his avatar while our weapons become infused with Shiro’s spirit in an epic clash to free Cantha and slay the Deep Sea Dragon.

Killing Scarlet is not enough now. She and all her dealings have to be made non-canon, or at least a bad dream from which the PC will soon wake in Fort Trinity after drinking TOOOO much on the victory celebration… but wait a minute…

Indeed if they made an Infinite Use version and made it a helluva alot more expensive, I’d be up for it. Even 1000 gems or more. But single use? Not worth A GEM imo.
I think the pre-event idea would indeed help lesson afkers. But lesson map cohesion unless they were all in TS.
Do you think at all before you speak? I mean honestly, every single raid encounter in WoW ( spare a few loot pinatas/ loot reavers ) have one shot mechanics in place. Some with several people being targeted at once all at the same time, which in that case would have to have Bubbles on them to take all about 5% of their health in a split second and then be healed to full again within in 2 seconds before another 90% spike hit them.
Then lets talk about the ’ 0 positioning tactics", your honestly blind or to dense to realize most videos posted will be of successes not failures. Voids, ooze puddles, unbalanced experiments etc… all rapid death/instant kill location attacks. That can be avoid IF the person realizes he is targeted and moves away within 1-2 seconds (failure to do this in some encounters didn’t just kill you, it killed everyone around you) so you could have a 2 second gap in train of thought and instantly be responsible for wiping your entire guild.
Size of the battlefield, I would have LOVED to have fought Lich King in a bigger area. Would have made it so much easier. The small battlefields is what makes it HARD not easy. There are plenty of raids in which a debuff is placed on people that envelopes the area around them in fire or voids. This is easily dealt with by moving away from the area right? Well sure so long as your doing the rest of the fight right, if your dps isn’t good enough or aggro is lost and the boss moves, suddenly fire is where sitting where you need to be sitting. Suddenly the battlefield is getting smaller and smaller.
I would totally join you if I were Italian, But all i have to say is. I LOVE google translate.
– rewards which are disproportionately low for the effort required to succeed
Depends on how you see it.
I would say downing something as strong as this is reward enough. You also have a change for several quite rare and cool items. The boss isn’t strong…as far as mechanics go Tequatl isn’t even remotely hard. The only thing challenging about Tequatl is logistics…..Raids in other games? Hard. This game? Well I guess it’s kind of hard getting everyone on the same map.
I would like to hear what is hard about raids in other games? I will go ahead and asume its healer keeping tank healthy while dps-ers macro their rotation, right? What is hard about standing in place and pressing heal skill over and over while tank stands there and soak up?
On other hand, Tequatl fight requires each individual to be on top of its game, dodging and hitting, while it also demands high organisation and strategy, and takes fight to a much larger area than any raid ive ever seen in other games i played.
So i think tequatl has better mechanics thn raids in other games, and is more casual friendly gear-wise…and again, what is hard about raids in other games?Well to begin, you don’t stand still in raid fights in other games. Sure theres the odd tank n spank fight every now and then but there are plenty of mechanics you must adhere to. Standing in a zergball while the only people who matter in the fight are on the turrets is not really that strategic. Like I said, this fight is basically just logistics.
Healers do a lot more than just heal..they provide cushion, they have to manage their cooldowns approprietely, they have to try to predict spikes in damage….they have to cleanse and purge DoTs and Debuffs…all while managing their resources like mana at the same time. So if you think they are just sitting still spamming 1 button, you are far from reality.
I mean I guess I can start spitting off every fight that requires skill and teamwork to get down in other games if you want…SoO just released that has a lot of great bosses in there if you want to look.
Also about the size of the area of the fight…Tequatl zone really isn’t big in comparison. Sure its a world boss, but it’s not like he is flying around or anything he stays still the entire time you fight him minus the intermissions. It’s not really that different..unless for some odd reason you are considering the entirety of sparkfly fen to be the battle? Because that wouldn’t make sense since you are fighting in only a very small portion of that map.
So many words and nothing really said. You havent even answered question i repeated twice.
Yes healers manage their cooldowns and cleanse dot-s, guess what, in gw2 everbody has to cleanse dot-s and manage their cooldowns. They dont have to predict anything, since they already know what rotation boss has and what big attack they can use. Plenty of dmg spikes on teq too.
Tequatl is static, but area in which battle is going on is much bigger than any other raid ive see. Maybe there is some raid with boss that is flying around bigger area than this, which i havent seen. I count into encounter area battery locations, since groups need to be able to reach up there.
So once again, if its not insane dmg numbers which you can’t survive without t12 legendary gear, what makes other games raids hard?
For the love of God, you are ignorant. Go WATCH a 25 man raid (to make things easier, search 25 man Lich King pre-level cap increase, then search 25man Heroic and weep). ~~ Scratch that the most popular vids are about people soloing him with the level cap increase. So I’ll post a few links of attempts and successes from when he WAS the END GAME.
Raids in wow REQUIRED the proper gear, proper resistances to elements, being in certain spots at certain times. It was demanding as in one DPS ( yea dps ), could wipe a whole raid if he over aggro-ed the boss. Which was ridiculously easy on good Shadow Priests and Rogues for God knows how long.
I would like to hear what is hard about raids in other games? I will go ahead and asume its healer keeping tank healthy while dps-ers macro their rotation, right? What is hard about standing in place and pressing heal skill over and over while tank stands there and soak up?

Oh , I dunno. Possibly every 25 man ( heroic or not ) in WoW. Kil-Jaeden especially. Don’t even get me started on VanillaWoW with 40 man raids.
Guild Wars 2 Tequatl fight is still a joke in comparison to End Game raids in WoW. ( Though I did quit before Cata, so maybe they’re all as easy as you seem to think they are.
Not sure this is the right place…. but the Article on the front Page of Guild Wars 2 website has the dates listed wrong for MLG Invitational. Should be Sept. 27th not 13th (which has already passed)
Has anyone (other than Dulfy) actually managed to kill him in Trib mode? My infite coin is reaching infinite and I haven’t even managed a single strike on him yet.
too hard = boring
Please dont tell me you did it in four nano-seconds with just a wooden spoon because that’s just annoying.
I dont need tips either, I’m not going through the whole zone just to try again…
He’s just as easy as he was in Regular mode. Only difference if you have to stay on the center lily pad only. Just smack his jewel until you get a shard, then run out to the Block and wait for him to open mount. Throw shard in mouth ( target boss not jewel ). Immediatly after throwing run back to him to smash out 50% of his hp. Do so once more, dead toad. Stupid easy. The monkey throwing stuff at you is easy to avoid, just strafe a foot away from your position (aka keep moving)
And keep in mind, DON’T TUNNEL VISION. When your near the end of the fight after the last Mega Laser shot. Go back to your posts and defend as usual regardless of Teq’s Health. Too many great kills have failed Perfect Defense right at the end.

I can’t stand it either OP so I just don’t play it and that should be the end of it right?
Wrong! I have these bloody tiaras, dresses and continue coins all dribbling over into normal PvE. I have enough junk to deal with and BLC to suffer without all this SAB garbage clogging up my inventory space too.
I only hope that those SAB drops are not replacing what could’ve been a exotic, rare or a dye when I get them. Think I’d jam a bent continue coin in the SAB slot if that was the case
Considering their drop rate, I guarantee they didn’t replace a exotic.
1 Achievement away from ‘The Sunbringer’ and I’ve only attempted him 5 times (killed 3 times). And I didn’t waste my time trying to get into an overflow when I knew it would never happen.
TIPS:
1. Try joining right after a Kill or Fail. People usually leave afterwards. So your best bet to join a main server is then.
2. Try to play during peak hours for your best bet of a kill, and take a break from trying to get in. Took me over an hour the first time to get into Main server.
3. When trying to get into a Main Server, from overflow. Go to a waypoint near a Map transition ( Mount Maelstrom, Bloodtide Coast, Straits of Devastation) And walk back & forth between maps. This seems to have better luck and joining or at least that the general consensus.
4. If your server has a TS, Vent, Mumble, etc…. get on it! Chance are one of those channels will be filled with Teq killers. This will make it easier to find someone in Main Server, and find a competent group. Not to mention derive best play times.
Quick Note: Nothing is more rewarding in this game, then watching an entire map full of people and map chat exploding with “Yes. We won!” Etc… Comraderie at its finest.
Due to my connection not being able to handle it, this event I’ll never be able to do on GW 2. Would be nice if they did Teq Jr, for people with slower connections, so they could get the achievements too. It could need half the people to complete it or something.
Just some sort of solution would be nice.
The solution is….. Get a better connection. Period. Anet has nothing to do with that. If your not running a min of 10 GB nowadays, don’t bother playing online multiplayers let alone MMOs
So I will admit, I’m a zerker type guy….and why shouldn’t I when i can dodge fairly well.
Yet, Tequatl comes out and renders me useless…and with PVT gear being so hard to come by….farming Badges for the WvW exotic version, Sentinel’s gear expensive as hell, and farming tokens for dungeon gear….
i found a Rare version of the Invaders gear in WvW that you can buy for just Karma i believe….
would the Rare 80 version be enough to fight Tequatl?
You can get a full Exotic set of PVT gear from a few runs in AC (still pretty easy, just not all 3 paths in 45 mins easy )
Killing Tequatl with just under 2 minutes left on the timer with 120+ on Main Server Jade Quarry. Definetly take the cake, but Beating Liadri for the first time after 117 attempts is right up there too.
Lol so true. I’m finishing my ‘Living Story’ for him tonight. Without setting foot in Sparkfly. Reading is hard for some lol.
Though you make many strong and valid points, I think that after the many casuals have attempted, failed, and quit whining in order to just not try. We’ll see only the Hardcore’s or skilled players populating the maps. This would make success much easier and definitely easier to coordinate. Though waiting for that time definitely sucks.
May I ask who the commander(s) were during the successful attempt? I’ve been in many JQ fails, one at 55% ish… would like to be on when we get people listening and on TS.
@ Terrahero Please tell me how I can forcibly make someone not click a Waypoint for 30 seconds or Aim a turret in the exact opposite direction of the Dragon. Then it could be abused. The result is, your statement makes no sense.
@Dagraan Are you upset with PVP Deserter buff? Just a guess. The fact that you physically interacted with an event or just stood still doing nothing; you think these 2 are comparable? Or aimed a Stationary Event Specific Weapon in a direction where it no only does nothing for the event, but does nothing in general….. Yet another mindless statement.
Should wait at least 30 days before you begin to cry. Give people a chance to learn it and such. It’s exactly like SAB Trib. Day ONE: OMG ITS SO HARD I HATE THIS WTF ANET!!! Day TEN: TRIB MODE IS AWESOME ITS FINALLY HARD CONTENT AND I LOVE IT!!
Except those two quotes would not be said by same person. Its called opinions. Which side is more represented? I dont know. You dont know. Ask Arena.net.
Wrong again, I was one of those people who hated Tribulation mode at first. Now I love it. Your opinion fails quite hard in retrospect.
In this case you a kind of peculiar person. If I hate something, I wont suddenly start to love it. If I love something, I wont suddenly start to hate it. Unless something changes it and SAB didnt changed. So yeah, a bit strange. And also seeing as you already brand me a failure, I suspect there might be something into this. Perhaps I should stay away. You forgot to add that I am an idiot, but I get it that you dont want to get reported, so uhm, thanks, I guess
It’s odd you think I’m insulting you, I simply stated your opinion is very close-minded to what you think is ‘normal’. The fact you think I wanted to call you an idiot proves your close-minded attitude of “I’m right your wrong”.
Ever heard of Dark Souls? Probably the most punishing game on the planet. And I can almost gaurantee the people who play it have a love/hate relationship with it. One in which they HATE how hard it is but LOVE playing it and progressing/learning from their mistakes and suddenly what seemed stupid hard at first is now a push over.

This has happened many times now where I can’t login to the GW2 forums from my home computer. I get past the Account Email & Password section, but once I enter my Authenticator Number it reverts back to the Email & password section. I’ve tried ignoring after entering it properly and it still has me as not logged in. I’ve even been playing the game, purposefully logged out completely so I had to re-enter my email/password/authenticator code and logged right back into the game just fine.
So what gives?
I’m currently responding on my work computer which never has any login issues.

2 Days after a patch and new content isn’t farmable???? Better nerf it to hell!!! The game suffers from people like you, I hope they redo all the dragons to have similiar difficulties if not harder.
The mechanics are perfectly designed for TEAMWORK. Like the good commanders will tell you, if you don’t know what your doing in the Turrets, stay ouf of them. And my suggestion has nothing to do with turrets, it has to do with Trolls and people who think everyone else needs to cater to their needs.
Just a quick suggestion to remove AFKer’s and lazy dead bodies who don’t realize that having 5 or more people trying to res their dead body instead of running back from the nearest Waypoint (isn’t far).
Why not make a Debuff appear on those who stay dead for more then 30 seconds at the Tequatl event that ports them to LA and places a Buff on them that prevents them from getting credit on the event at all.
Everyone of the Failure’s I’ve participated in (Blackgate, Jade Quarry, Sanctum of Rall, Overflows) all comes down to a mini map full of dead bodies that are too lazy to Waypoint. It’s a timed and with only 15 minutes to kill a moderately tough opponent with a minimum of 80 people, EVERY 30 seconds counts.
So I suggest making a deserter Debuff like you already have in place for PVP, but make it more severe. Would also be nice to do something about the trolls. Especially those in turrets. Nothing is more disheartening to a Jade Quarry map full of people actually trying, to find 2 of their turrets occupied by Blackgate Trolls aiming 180 degrees from the dragon and essentially failing the event for the entire map.
Someone even got the Mini Tequatl. Lucky git. :P
MUST HAVE NOW!
I’m noticing a trend. People are forgetting the importance of a victory. People seem to be UPSET that we were able to take down Tequatl, and not them. A victory shows that a method worked, and that luck is not a factor involved.
Blackgate did everything that we could to set ourselves up for success. We used teamspeak, we had a dedicated commander calling most of the shots, we had supporting commanders calling out shockwaves, calling out timers, calling out turret health statuses. On top of all that, we had people attempting the event since the patch hit (9 hours of playing, and planning), learning what worked and what didn’t work.
This is in no way a “Blackgate is the best” post, this is a “Learn from someone who has done it before under the best case scenario” post. Blackgate laid the groundwork.
We linked a video earlier, uploaded by our resident Kiwi, Flickky/Landsplash taken from her Twitch account which includes Teamspeak sound source whereas we have all of our chatter and commands, calls, ideas, and executions detailed. Please view it, and use whatever information you think will help you to defeat Tequatl.
This being said, in no way did Blackgate do everything right. I started a small discussion on Teamspeak after the fight stating that I believe we could have reduced our deaths significantly by moving out of the AOE circles as a group once there are 4 or more stacked in one zone. It seems as though they follow large groups, one circle at a time, giving you a chance to get your health back up, without the constant harass of them. Besides my suggestion, we had a lot more suggestions come up as well to improve the run.
In time, if enough people attempt it and understand the mechanics, eventually the information will spread to new people each and every attempt. Soon, using Teamspeak might not even be needed because the mechanics will be second nature to everyone.
For those wondering about our numbers, 110-120 of the people who were on Teamspeak are from Blackgate. We know this because we had verified our users ahead of time and those who joined Teamspeak for Tequatl (around 10) were unregistered guests, who might have been from Blackgate originally, but never verified. If the 150 persons per map capacity is true, that means that only 20 people were not on Teamspeak for the fight.
I hope that people stop saying “Bandwagon” and “Native”, like any of that stuff matters. What matters is that the people who were dedicated enough to stay on the entire time it took leading up to the victory were the ones who showed it is possible, and gave you a good idea of how to achieve victory on your own server.

+1 Same. Its impossible did with pugs Min 80 ppl? about 200-300 ppl here and only 10%?
Can you honestly say you’ve EVER seen even 100 people in a zerg.
I’ve been playing since launch and I have yet to see a screen so full it is undoubtedly at least 100 people.
So many times I’ve seen people say our zerg is 100+ and I get there and its maybe 40. Counting is hard….

Well, there SAB you know. It as a start and an end, when you reach the end, you win.
You pay cash and it allows you to win. Pay 2 Win. Sure, as in all P2W games, Paying isn’t the only way to win, but for sure it helps a LOT.
In this case, paying helps a lot. So it is P2W.
Are you high? You just discredited your own statement. What you said is basically like saying:
“This gun instantly kills anyone it hits. Okay, it really only bruises you faster then a stick but will eventually kill you. So it’s definitely an instant kill gun. "

Epic Idea is Epic!
I tried searching for this but to no avail.
Is it possible to Transmute a helm appearance from a deleted Necromancer onto an item i can transmute onto another characters helm? Or did they remove that ability?
My guess is, I just don’t know how to do it properly.
Guild halls is one of those things that were popular for like 3 month then rarely ever used in guild wars 1 aka not a priority.
Conquest: it the main mode for pvp, game wasn’t properly designed for deathmatch. Or any other mode without serious modificaitons to every skill.
What game were you playing? I mean honestly? You must have had a VERY inactive guild. Of the 5 guilds I was in during Guild Wars 1, we used the Guild Halls extensively and was always used as a chill spot, merchant destination, and storage holder.
I also completely disagree with how there couldn’t be a deathmatch pvp variant. What part of any of each classes skills couldn’t be utilized for killing in a 1v1 situation? Each class has skills that accommodate 1v1 situations as well as 1vX.
Can’t wait for Tuesday!
