Guild Wars 2

I was reading several topics recently about our home Tarnished Coast, and what makes it a great place to call home as a gamer. It’s so difficult to pare down into a few phrases, because it’s not just one thing or another. It’s the sum of it’s quirky and engaging residents.

What has been created here is truly a community, in the best sense of the term. There is room for folks to be who they are, not simply an avatar. Not just keyboard heros doing heroic things, but folks. Friends even, new and old having adventures together. Sometimes winning, sometimes not, but always together standing by one another.

Here on TC it’s not always the big things, like did you kill a dragon, did you save the world from evil, but more of how you treat your friends and how you stand with them. It’s the small every day things that create something that is more than the sum of it’s parts. It’s the spirit of fun and never defeatist attitudes that makes our community a place that always feels like home.

That being said, TC also has some major talent in all areas of the game. Our WvW teams/guilds work very diligently and while we don’t always win every match-up, we will always show up and fight on. So if your guild is seeking a rewarding WvW experience where it’s about the fights, the match-up and battling with your mates alongside you. Afterwards, kicking back and watching the videos and sharing some fun times, then contact one of our community leaders.

I too recall ‘reading’ the various book titles all throughout DR and other places, and wondering at the time if there would be some Living Story involvement surrounding them. It’s really too bad that it was decided not to implement this multilayered immersion into the lore and written histories of Tyria. I would find something like this an attractive draw to becoming more involved in this game.

Imagine if the dev team for this game segment enlisted the player base, to provide more than simply titles, but writing actual stories and deeper lore. (Utilizing of course, the established facts and continuity already present.) It could be set up as a story/lore expansion contest.
It could serve to create more interest and excitement in this segment of the game and act as a spring-board for all sorts of events and ideas. Anet would benefit greatly from something like this it seems, for very little in the way of investment. Plus, investing in your customer base and engaging their participation is always good business. Everyone wins

It was a great match-up and every server has a lot to be proud of. Hopefully we’ll all learn and benefit from everything that happened this week, wins/losses don’t matter. Just ask yourselves if you had a good time overall, and is your server enjoying playing WvW? If it’s yes to even one of those questions, then count yourself lucky and hope the next match is as good.
I hope this next week is as much fun. and that I get to play more

I just wanted to give a shout out to the SoS Charr ranger I scrapped with a few times outside of TCBL’s Redbriar right before the new build shut us all down. You Sir are one tough dude!

I haven’t gotten to play as much this match up, but those I have, have been huge fun. From reading a few of the other match threads, I’d say we should count ourselves lucky. See you all tonight!

Great fights tonight – SoS, the folks you had defending inner Hills on FABL a few hours ago were tenacious as heck. Epic fight.

And of course, FA is bringing it like they always do.

Oh, and like Jayne said earlier – TC and FA have the most to lose here. Currently, SoS is in third place by a bit, but gaining like 37 Glicko points, while TC and FA are both losing points. Keep it up!

To keep it short…nobody paid for TVB transfers but TVB members. We chose FA, we did not coordinate with FA, and were not bought by FA. We picked FA because there are friends and family on the server and we wanted a stable server, not another bandwagon server that will implode in two months.

This gentleman and his guild are transfers true. Bandwagonners.. well each of us get to interpret that ridiculous definition in any way that soothes best. What they are is a great guild of players, and seek the best in competition. (That is a compliment to you and your tier btw) Kaineng was sadly no longer able to provide that level of competition, so they took their fight to T1.

While being the “new kid” in class, that doesn’t always mean that said “new kid” MUST by default be meek and milquetoast upon their arrival. It was simply nothing more than a poke at humor and rivalry gone awry. (Yeah I read along.. so sue me I’m nosy ;p)
Stop behaving like a bunch of church ladies and get yer fight on. It’s war! It obviously provoked a response and I would venture that you and yours had a great time loading into EB to deliver your gauntlet. He’s apologized to all and sundry, so move on and have fun.

I caught Kaineng guys using cosmetic hacks today. They were way more stylish than the game client normally allows you to. I’d post screen shots and videos but I won’t post screen shots or videos. Everyone knows you guys can’t color-coordinate so you have to rely on cheats in order to be fabulous. Good thing I can stomp all you guys in a 1-on-1 walk-off but every time I find you your entire zerg of people with matching hats comes and vogues all over me. Just goes to show how lame Kaineng is that they need to use an entire zerg just to out-catwalk me LOL

If any of you want to 1-on-1 vogue meet at the Fashion Club atop the catwalks of the Skritt tunnels at Northeast Mag BL.

I was thinking about what many of you have said, about there being no tangible incentive to winning each week. Though it needs to be something that doesn’t cause any more imbalance in the battles, and entices more involvement from our servers’ populations to play in WvW.

How about if Anet implemented an increase in the RNG drop-rate for precursors for the winner of each tier each week. So for the following week after gaining top position in each tier, your servers chance of a precursor drop would increase by some small amount. Say 1% increase.

It would be something very tangible and already part of the current game mechanics while at the same time not over-favoring any single group of players. It would also incentivise playing in WvW across all servers, since the buffs that are currently in place don’t seem to matter much or motivate PvX players to join in. This is precisely one of the major frustrations with having the buffs gained from the server’s performance in WvW being so lackluster. For a player that’s not focused on WvW as their preferred game play, there doesn’t seem to be any real reason to get in there and learn this segment of the game.

If this were added with many of the great suggestions listed in this thread, it would effectively re-energize the fun and interest in GW2 overall. Especially a UI change to commander functions. It is crucial to have the ability to create squads, and have the relevant information at hand.

Me personally, I enjoy the game, but lately I find myself choosing other activities than logging in. With some of the recent ‘patch changes’ I feel unsure which build/gear changes I should make to adjust and know that in all likelihood more changes are coming. So rather than chasing my tail, I’m waiting to see how it’s all going to settle out. Then I’ll probably ‘get into’ playing again.

I remember when I first saw your new guild tag Eve and I was like, “Really cool Guild moniker!”.
Yeah, I’m a fan . Also howdy T2! Just poking my nose in and surreptitiously sneaking cookies from Jayne’s cookie pantry, Don’t mind me…. ^^

Kaineng is a tough Mistress, but also kind, loyal and giving.
She’s been knocked down pretty hard, but rest assured this is only temporary.
Our time here in T3 will hopefully remain for some time as we diligently work on server communication, structure and moarrrr communication between our guilds.

You would think that many of our residents would be sad and depressed at the events of the past few weeks, but I have seen quite the opposite. As a regular old PuG player, I have seen far more of strategies and tactics and cooperation between guilds than I have ever seen before. I’m not saying it didn’t happen previously on some level, just that it was never passed on to us regular folks so much. That has changed in a huge way.

We would really love to have guilds that are seeking a place to make a vast difference. Many smaller, but really great guilds operate on servers where their efforts are just another small team doing stuff that needs doing, missing the spotlight that the larger guilds enjoy. This is an opportunity for any guild seeking to make their mark on WvW in NA, and become central to the ongoing work that many of our leaders are working so hard on. Since we are rebuilding this is the most opportune time to join Kaineng.

So bring you and your mates here to make a home with our beautiful Mistress Kai Neng. (She had to have a name yanno ;p) We’ll sing, look at the Moon (thanks for the saying WyldKat) and wear our stompy boots as we kick some can and make a name for ourselves again! I’ll bring much pie and cookies! I might even be persuaded to bake strudel!

I will always have the fond halcyon days type memories of our time in T2. It was nothing short of spectacular! I’m really sad that in the last three weeks I’ve been unable to spend any serious time in the game, and I’ve had to resort to skulking about on here reading. But, you guys and gals are always great entertainment.

Here’s a few things I am going to miss:

The Beards: Furious and White.. you guys are sooooo funny! I always get the most insane images while reading your posts. Razor wits the pair of ya The term “Sonic Beards” will forever be a part of my jargon. (personal props to Shaka for this)

Jayne: You are such a kind and witty woman, and I am proud to call you friend. ~For teh coookies!~

WyldKat: You have redefined funny and quirky for me.

All of our WvWing Guilds on Kai: You have given me experiences I never would have imagined when I first DL’d this game. I am constantly amazed at the dedication and knowledge you all display and share so willingly for us militia folks.

Our Opponents TC/BG and FA: You’ve been relentless, infuriating and head on keyboard frustrating! and I thank you all for it! Without fierce competitors, this part of the game would be predictable and dull (sorta like dungeon bosses hehehe), and thankfully you’re not. Fortunately I’ve learned to embrace the spike and take away the lessons I am supposed to learn from it. I wish you all precursors from my loot bags and many good fights. Oh… and I’ll be seeing you all again.. mark my words!

I’m a native of Kaineng since I began playing and I find our community great! I was a strictly PvE player when I began GW2, but our community has so many great guilds and individuals that support and strive diligently in WvW that I was eager to try it. I am so grateful to them for giving me their time to show me the ropes, since I am a converted WvW’r now.

One of the things about Kaineng I find so engaging, is the players themselves and their willingness to give their time and knowledge to help out other players. Our guilds and especially the larger WvW hardcore ones don’t have that “elite uberness” attitude I have seen in other MMO’s. Anytime I have ever reached out to any of them for assistance or information, it’s always graciously given and then some.

So, if you or your guild is looking for a well coordinated WvW focused server to join forces with, then please reach out and talk with any of our folks. We’d love to have you join our roster of great guilds and players!

As for the pronunciation of Kaineng. I go with the Kai- neng version But that is just because I love Hydrophidians art-work she did for Kaineng Gangam style.
