100% unsoloable. You will not be able to experience the majority of the content without getting on to organized maps and working together with many other players. 100% map completion is possible solo, as long as other players have already worked together so that you have access to all areas of each map (so yeah nope, not soloable).
Wish I would have been around for the LS because I do not enjoy the meta events and mastery grind.
My HoT experience has been nothing but grind. Just by “playing the game” you can not unlock masteries. You are forced to farm maps for EXP to unlock your masteries, and that is pretty much the only thing to do in HoT. Grind to unlock masteries. What do masteries do? Not much. Collections (more grind – but could be so much better) are unlocked after you get your masteries I guess…. What makes it worse is that you need to be completing meta events that are on 2-hour timers and require you to log in at the right time and be lucky enough to find an organized map of other players to complete. (Psst – this sounds like raids to me. All of HoT is pretty much raids.)
The beta tester comment was a bit snarky, but I get where you are coming from. However, the 64bit client really has worked fantastically. This is one of those moments when you just forget your pride, suck it up, and go for it. Hopefully, Anet will get this officially implemented soon, but the struggle isn’t worth it to wait.
The gem store is suppose to be for extra stuff, cosmetics. Season 2 is not like a skin, is not something that is doesn’t matter if you don’t have. IS THE F****** MAIN STORY of the game. Even more, is the final chapter of the the core game that I BOUGHT and the direct connection, the first part of the story of the Expansion that I also BOUGHT.
Not true. You didn’t buy season 2. You bought the Personal Story. Anything they chose to add after that, they choose the price they set for it. It could be free, it could cost a few bucks, totally up to them and they promised no differently. You never bought the right to play Season 2. Neither did I, but I was playing at the time and they chose to give it to me for free, an that’s cool, but I was never owed it.
This. Right here. You have not lost access to a single thing that you already paid for. You do not, however, get free access to something that you haven’t paid for. Living Story is extra content, not core game content that came with the box price.
That being said, I would like to see Anet cut together some cutscenes that you could preview to summarize season 2 of the LS. That way those who purchased HoT won’t miss storyline (pay for living story if you want to actually experience it).
People complaining about daze… you do realize that if the daze trait was removed, the traps would be utterly useless, right? Without daze to remove your blocks and keep you in the trap for at least a second, traps wouldn’t deal damage because you would (finally) learn to dodge out of traps (novel idea, right?) after blocking the initial little burst of damage.
But yeah, that wasn’t a balance patch. That is still yet to come. (Can I have hammer be more effective, pretty please?)
Can you say that to rangers? who just get cripple on their traps? LOL
Well, I think we all know how Anet chooses to treat Rangers xD

Guard hammer is a lot of fun. I’ve started using it with my DH and I am really enjoying it. The only issue is that it desperately needs to be updated. Skills need to be re-worked (they need more functionality beyond “this one CCs and does a little damage, and so does this one and this one”), and DPS needs to probably be buffed a little (increasing attack speed some would help tremendously). You will probably feel like you are gimping your effectiveness if you choose hammer on guard over GS.
I agree that, currently, the monetization of this game is a little confusing. I took the Living Story as being a form of DLC. You don’t need it to play the game. LS is merely an expanded story. The same goes with the Heart of Thorns expac. You do not need it to play what was available in the core game.
What confuses all of this is the fact that the core game went free to play right before HoT launch. It’s not like Anet is the first company to do this, though. Plenty of MMOs have been going F2P after people have already paid for the game. If you were one to have already purchased the game before it went F2P, you kinda just have to accept that new people are now able to play what you paid for, for free.
The next questions are… Was the expac price worth it? Will Anet sell the new Living Stories?
I had the same issue and today I fixed it, by refreshing the cpu cooling paste! From 4-11 fps, now I get 90 fps at high settings.
soon I will upload a video as well (already uploading)… here is my topic also…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Low-performance-UPDATED-SOLVEDit all started after HOT release as well…!
This is possible.
To OP, everyone here (including the Anet staff, if you contacted support) is trying to help you.
Try downloading this to check the temps your PC is running at – even if it isn’t the direct cause of your problems, it is always good to keep your PC clean and running cool: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
Yeah, it’s possible that your CPU was overheating. Download something like this to monitor temps for future reference: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
I’m really enjoying using hammer, but I avoid using the AA and only use the CC abilities while placing traps before swapping back to longbow. It works pretty well in maguuma maps where you don’t want to be up in anything’s face anyway. I definitely would like to see a facelift for hammer so I don’t feel like I am gimping myself by running around with it.
i have the newest driver and i don`t need more ram since until now the game worked perfectly.
the new 64bit client does not help.
Hmm, okay.

I think mentor tag really is supposed to be a poor man’s commander tag. Every single new map requires coordination. I would never throw 300g at a commander tag, but since I have access to a mentor tag, I have been activating it to try my best at helping organize people. Locking the mentor tag behind a lot of exp would not have worked well with the new content. Also, like comm tags can be, mentor tag would become even more of a prestige symbol in some people’s minds if it was difficult to obtain.
First off, always check for driver updates. Next, check to see if you are running a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system (Start > Settings > System > About). If you are running 64-bit, ensure that you are using the new 64-bit client (instructions to download here: http://dulfy.net/2015/11/04/gw2-64-bit-client-now-available/). Finally, try toning down shadows, reflections, character model limit, character model quality, and the environment settings in your game settings menu. I have noticed that these make the largest changes in my performance, without sacrificing on the overall appearance of the game.
EDIT: One last tip… Windows 10 likes to take up way too much disk space which can affect your PC’s performance. Go to Start > Settings > System > Notifications & actions, then turn “Show me tips about Windows” off.

My Bat Wings Backpack is constantly disappearing on me. It appears to happen randomly whenever I am downed, CC’d, do an emote, or glide. I can make them reappear by toggling the visibility on/off in the Hero Panel, but, of course, this can’t be intended.
Let me get nerfed versions of some of the guild hall upgrades in the Guild Initiative Office in LA with my guild of 5 or fewer people easily, and I would be ecstatic. (and let me throw down some smaller decorations)
I’ve never liked heart quests. Renown hearts were actually added much later in development than you would think. The “dynamic” events are what the groundbreaking change to MMO design was all about. The focus on meta events in the new maps is sorta depressing, though.
What are the ranks on adventures out of? Server? Region? The world? Also, I would love it if I could see the entire leaderboard somewhere (even online if not in game), instead of just my friends.
Adventures feel like minigames to me and I like me some minigames. They get old fast if they aren’t competitive, though!
I want Hambow to be a thing! My DH feels weird to me right now. I liked guard because I could play more of a support role, but recently my utility slots have been filling up with traps. If hammer could be a little more viable (remove that symbol from the AA and replace with a cripple – pretty please with a cherry on top), then I could feel extremely useful by destroying break bars and still being able to throw in some damage mitigation with Courage/Wall of Reflection. Having some Aegis/Protection sprinkled in on the hammer skills would be pretty awesome too!
MF recipe would be amazing, please and thanks. This is not a “grind.” This is RNG. I can run around the jungle collecting flax seeds for ‘x’ amount of time to make the oil (even though I wish it wasn’t gated behind HoT because c’mon this is a Halloween event). You can not, however, tell me how long I will need to run in circles around Lab or how many times I will need to fall off the edge of Ascent before I get this brew.
Okay let’s be honest. 400 hero points wasn’t any sort of challenge, more than it was a huge time sink. All Anet did was make it a little less time-gated. Also, to those who want to feel “special” because they have a lot of time to throw at gaming, please stop stroking your kittens. Do not look down on gamers that you label as “casuals.” You are not better than them. (If you think you are, go ahead and get out of my community. kthx)
Have we figured out what this means: “…and those who face the Mad King in his encounter will have a chance for a rare and marvelous reward!”? Could it be related to the missing ingredient? It could just be the tattered bat wings, but that seems unlikely. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/october-23-2015/
Wouldn’t it make more sense to give them a base “dodge” chance? Or would that be too much RNG?
Please let me go to Cantha.
You have to use brighter dyes in order to really see the glow. If you go with a darker dye it won’t glow in some cases or be so faint that you can’t really tell if it is or not. So when testing it use a lighter dye anyway.
But I still want some way to know what will glow and what will not.
By the way, that post Chaba linked is wrong. T2 Heavy legs are glowing for me.
These two posts together. Thank you!
Edit: All Cultural armor should glow and it should be obvious which dye slot affects it. So much frustration.
I am not referring to character creation. Sylvari cultural armor has glowing built in that is based off of dye color (and I read that the Nightmare Court armor glows too). Not every piece of every set seems to glow and there is no way to tell which parts will glow. Also some dyes make the glow completely unnoticeable.
I haven’t been able to find a straight answer on this anywhere I look. What armor (Sylvari Cultural/Twilight Arbor/Why aren’t there more plant-based skins, I has a sad.) glows? Which pieces of which sets? What area glows and what dye slot is it affected by?
Please and thank you.
Tried this again, it doesn’t work. Looks like I was mistaken.
The bulk mail filter is still a problem. Now that I have access to my account, I’m switching over to mobile authentication.

It definitely sounds like Anet needs to get in contact with Yahoo, which I assume they have been after looking through the forums here.
If you look at the full headers of the emails that Yahoo is delaying delivery of, it has a “X-YahooFilteredBulk: [IP address]” tag where it first filters the email, then checks to see if it is a “permitted sender”: “Received-SPF: pass (domain of guildwars2.com designates [IP address] as permitted sender)”
Those tags, however, are missing from the email that was forwarded to my Gmail account from my Yahoo account. The other interesting part is, the emails are not marked as spam, they just take hours upon hours to show up in my inbox, if they come at all.
<Edit> Went to confirm everything I’m posting and realized I deleted the auth email from my Gmail. Oops. lol It’s possible that the email by chance made it through Yahoo’s filter and I just missed the above tags in the email on my Gmail…(edited by SirDerp.3520)
