Been playing since Beta and never had even a sniff of a pre. If there was raffle for a legendary and my name was the only one in the hat, it would fall through kitten in the hat.
Edited for the fact that you can’t write the letter “a” followed by the word “hole” without being censored.
I’ve never understood why skill points had to be removed and replaced with this current setup of hero points and skill shards. XP used to give you a skill point every time you “levelled up” beyond level 80. Skill points could get you all the things from the Mystic Forge that spirit shards do now. So your XP was always worth something, as were your skill points.
With the current setup I’m now watching my XP drift off into the ether and I’ve got a bunch of leftover hero points that I can’t do anything with.
If ANet reverted to the old system then everything would be usable again.
I get that they probably felt they needed to change something, because under the old system, even new players who came on board with the launch of HOT, could eventually have built up enough skill/hero points to get the elite specialization without even setting foot in HOT, but what they’ve come up with isn’t their greatest idea.
The game doesn’t need mounts and Anet has said many times that there will never be mounts. However, in the extremely unlikely event that mounts ever do get added at some point, there better be unicorns.
That is you I am quoting to make a point. You either buy something or earn it, players can’t complain if they are not willing to either of those. Players who bought HoT are entitled to everything it offers or could offer, those that don’t buy are not entitled to anything.
Right, I’ve got you, I thought you meant from this thread. Boy, you went back a long way to find that one didn’t you? Two years…. I’d forgotten about that. However, it’s not relevant to this thread because it was about content that was available to everyone. Right here, right now, you’re talking about taking content that isn’t available to everyone and bolting it on to content that currently is available to everyone. You’d be giving HOT players more opportunities to acquire the dailies and the fact that you can’t see that the imbalance unfairly favours HOT players is beyond my understanding.
However, the solution is quite simple… Don’t add HOT to the dailies.
Then they can buy the expansion to get those additional options that others paid $50-$100 to access…
They won’t have to if HOT isn’t added to the dailies.
I’d like to quote you…
“I think you might be confusing “casual” with “entitled” and it’s a common misconception on these forums. An allegedly “casual” player who won’t do fractals complaining that he’s being denied access to the ascended gear doesn’t mean that every casual player is complaining about it.”
That’s not actually me you’re quoting, but we’re not talking about not wanting to do something, we’re talking about not being able to.
If you don’t buy something then you are not entitled to it.
Players who won’t buy HoT shouldn’t be complaining about being denied access to dailies, masteries, gliding, certain rewards, raids, future living story 3, future legendary armor…
I don’t know if players are complaining about being denied to areas of HOT, but they would certainly have a right to question the addition of HOT areas to the dailies, which, as I’ve already stated, would put them at a disadvantage in obtaining the dailies.
Im fully aware, I’m the one who made this topic. I suggested to add hot dailies to the current daily list.
Your augment is invalid and doesn’t make any sense.
Players can buy the expansion if they want. If the don’t want to buy HoT, then they don’t get stuff from HoT.
I said that players who don’t have HOT would be disadvantaged in the acquisition of dailies and they would be. HOT players would have more options, non hot players would have less options than the HOT players. That’s not an argument, that’s a fact.
There are lots of rewards and things that HoT players have access to that non HoT owners don’t. You are really over embellishing things.
Not in the dailies.
I buy gems for gold and bought a legendary, is that unfair or “harming” someone else?
Don’t get me started on how un-Legendary a Legendary actually is.
I can level up a character to 80 in a couple hours and have full ascended gear on them, is that going to “harm” someone else?
I can buy any weapon skin off the bltc, will that “harm” another player?
I can glide by all the players who didn’t buy HoT, is that “harming” them?
Honestly, I don’t feel bad for players who are unwilling to buy an expansion then complain that they don’t get something out of it or complain that other players have access to things they paid for.
I’m sorry, but your arguments aren’t valid.
The topic was about adding HOT to the dailies in some manner. Everyone can do the dailies, but not everyone can play HOT. The dailies are about earning 10 achievement points and obtaining sundry rewards. If you can’t see that giving HOT owners more ways to get those gives them an advantage over non HOT owners then I really can’t help you.
Not everyone bought HOT. Adding it to the dailies would disadvantage some of the player base.
By your logic, adding gliding in core Tyria should never be done because it would “disadvantage” some of the player base, so obviously they would never do that…..oh wait.
By my logic adding HOT to the dailies will see players who bought it being able to receive more rewards from the dailies than those who didn’t. Irrespective of achievement points it would be turning the dailies into something that could alienate part of the player base.
Also, this “disadvantaged player base” sure is going to feel glum when Living story 3 comes around and is locked to them as an expansion only series of events.
Your knowledge of Living Story 3 exceeds mine, I had no definite understanding that non HOT players were going to be locked out of it.
Basically, I agree completely with the OP, adding this would be great and does no harm to anyone else.
It would harm the non HOT players for the reasons I’ve already stated.
the argument that it gives a disadvantage to those who haven’t bought HoT is bull as it really doesn’t change anything for them.
It does change things for them, it gives them dailies they can’t do. It would look as if ANet was favoring players who bought HOT over those who haven’t.
Not everyone bought HOT. Adding it to the dailies would disadvantage some of the player base.
I lost GW2 cap too. Not because I deleted it, but because I was wearing it on my town clothes option when those were taken out. Be nice to have a way to get that back.
Whoever came up with the idea of the map reset for Dragon’s Stand should be strung up by their short and curlies and beaten about the head with a wet fish. It’s the worst idea ever and I can say that with confidence, because if there had been a worse idea, ANet would have implemented that one.
I haven’t even tried the Druid. Didn’t like the sound of it, so I didn’t bother with it. I might be missing out on something I’d eventually grow to like, but I like my Ranger just fine as he is. I wouldn’t mind having ground targeting for my traps again though.
I still love this game, but it’s fair to say that, apart from my Tiger Pet and Gliding, HoT isn’t my favourite thing.
Navigating the new areas can be frustrating at best and impossible at worst depending on the progress of the relevant META. Being killed at the restart of the Dragon’s Stand map is just annoying. Sometimes it feels like they just threw a bunch of ideas at a wall and used the ones that stuck to it.
I’m in a Guild of Two so no Guild Hall for me, but I didn’t have one before HoT so it’s not so big a deal. If I wanted a Guild Hall I’d do what my wife did and join another Guild. What I don’t like is that a reward from the chest at the Shatterer now has an item for use only in relation to a Guild Hall. I can’t sell it, trade it or give it away, it’s nothing more than a dust collector right now. I should be able to do something with that. Also a lot of people haven’t got HoT, do they also get what is probably, for them, a useless reward?
Not exactly HoT related but probably with it in mind, I really don’t like what they did with the old skill points. I now have a bunch of Hero Points that I can’t use and I’m not even sure I’m still getting Shards for “levelling” because my XP bar doesn’t go anywhere in Core Tyria anymore.
The game feels less casual friendly now. You can’t just wander around on your own in Dragon’s Stand for an hour and kill random stuff because there’s no time to breathe unless you’re in a party and no real progress if you didn’t make it in time to join a map where the META is being done.
It’s like ANet has decided that, having let us play the way we wanted for almost three years, we’re going to have to play the way they want if we want to keep playing new content.
I’m really okay with that, they’re trying to be different, not everything is going to work. I pre-purchased HoT and I’ve completed the storyline, done the events and mapped it all. Got my Ranger his Tiger pet and I’ve maxed out gliding so I definitely can’t say I hate the game, it just hasn’t been as much fun for me this time around.
I don’t like that Skill points were changed and split between Hero points and Spirit Shards. I now have toons with a surplus of Hero points that I can’t use.
HOT just crashes so many times in a day, it’s become painful to even just think about playing it.
Guild Wars gives you a little reminder of how long you’ve been playing, every hour. Maybe that’s something GW2 could implement in future.
I don’t have a Legendary. Never had a precursor drop for me, but I’m not too worried about it, if I desperately wanted one I’d have picked it up on the Trading Post. Legendaries should have been account bound from day one because the fact that you can buy one on the Trading Post kind of makes it less than Legendary to me.
I opened 10 chests and got no scraps, no tickets. I got 2 Raven mail carriers from the same chest. I could however, open my own bank access express shop, they’re dropping like confetti. I’m at the stage now where if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.
It does feel like the game is being “dumbed down” a little.
Nice one, thank you CJ
Man, I hope you get to talk like CJ…that would be cool
“I didn’t get where I was today…”
+1 for reminding me what a great character CJ was.
“I didn’t get where I am today without knowing there’s no fun in getting where I am today.”
Not happy to lose ground targeting on my Ranger traps, but I’ll deal with it.
Ey, guys. I feel like most of you dont understand how B2P MMO works….
I hope Anet isnt angry cause of your behavior guys and they’re not going to do something wrong in the future, cause of the last situation.
I feel like you don’t understand how not shafting your existing customer base works. And we don’t need to wait for them to do something wrong in the future, they’ve already done it.

I don’t think the cost is the main issue for most. No additional slots in the standard edition is what did it for me. If it had even just one single additional slot, this would have been a storm in a teacup.

You shouldn’t assume that because pizzas and porn is a date for you, that it’s the same for everybody else.
In the grand history of bad ideas, this one is right up there, or down there or even out there, in whatever direction bad ideas generally head off in.
I don’t want to be able to stick them in my wallet. I want to be able to sell them.
Same with the ascended trinket drops that I’d never use in a month of Sundays. Can’t even salvage those.
If I don’t get at least one of these a month, I feel like the scammers don’t love me anymore.

I think I’ll be waiting for the eventual half price offer unless they come up with an expansion only version.
Had a few of these myself. Report and block. That’ll get rid of them.
Not sure why you bothered to block out your account info since we can all see that anyway, but it’s a handy reminder that the last reduced price offer probably attracted more scammers than it did actual players.
Well here’s what to expect:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily/Table
The only ones that are getting old to me so far are the fractal ones. It’d be great if they could throw dungeons into the mix.
Don’t know why they can’t throw a dungeon into the mix, but we’d probably end up with a day when we had the Daily Fractal, The Daily Scale (insert level here) Fractal and a dungeon. I suspect that would send the forums into meltdown.
If you see the fire elemental more than a few times it is most likely because you are not high enough level to trigger the other world boss dailies. It seems that fire elemental is the default for someone not level 80 running the dailies.
I only have level 80 toons. I’m sticking with the theory that it got itself an agent.
Don’t really mind the current daily format, but I’m getting sick of the sight of that Fire Elemental. Does it have a sponsorship deal? An agent maybe?
I wish my game experience could be spoiled like that.
I’ve been throwing rares and exotics into the mystic toilet for over two years now and still haven’t seen a precursor. No idea how much I’ve chucked in there and if it wasn’t for you guys, I’d be thinking they were a myth.
Do I want to quit? No. I’m quietly cursing the Gods of RNG but I’ll stick around for a bit longer.
Should I stop with the mystic toilet? Probably… because it occurs to me that if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.
Will I stop? Hmm… Maybe just one more attempt, because you never know, this next time might be the one.
I preferred the old format for the dailies. I preferred the old generic kill a World Boss to the new kill this specific World Boss. It’s just too bad if your work schedule doesn’t leave you time to get to whatever World Boss event has been selected. You can’t always rely on WvW to pull you out of the fire if your World is having a bad day. And if you suck at PvP, which I do, you could be struggling. There’s nothing dramatically wrong with the new format, it just seems more like a job now. Some days I just don’t bother.
Number 200 for Dante Storm if you please your Highness.
The RNG element in the acquisition of a Legendary weapon is a ridiculous concept and should never have been included. Two years on and I still haven’t obtained a precursor. I was at the point where I just didn’t care anymore a long time ago and to be honest I don’t know why I’m still even trying at this point. The precursor and thereafter the Legendary should be acquired by actions not dumb luck. Remove the RNG, make it Account bound at the very least and then it genuinely will be a “Legendary” Weapon.
Still waiting for a Raptor to appear as a pet.
I’m thinking this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er1UYCGhtFc
I wanted a raptor as a pet in GW1. The ones in GW2 don’t look as threatening but I still want one.
When I did TA F/U a while back my group consisted of 3rangers. We all sat at 1.5k range and pretty much soloed the boss.
I like this new play on the term “solo” it’s so much better than the old one when the party requirement for soloing was greater than zero but less than two.
I think a Mesmer might still be able to get in and you know if a Mesmer can get in, everyone can get in.
I’ve given up too. I’ve tried guesting to another world, but I can’t get a main server anywhere and there are just too many people AFK.
What about Overflow Otto, who would really love to participate in a co-ordinated challenge but he’s been unable to get onto his World’s main server because Guesting Gus has taken his spot and it can’t be completed on overflow because his arch nemesis A F K Arnold has set up camp with his family. He would get my vote.
Edited for atrocious spelling.

Saw an Engineer called W D Forty. Wish I’d thought of that.
It depends on the exotic. If you are salvaging Pearl Exotics, then no you won’t receive any. But other exotic even ones from dungeons have a chance at dropping it. The dungeon exotics chance is lower then others but it will drop from them.
@cesmode
I am salvaging with Master and Mystic salvage kits and getting dark matter, so no you don’t need to buy anything off the TP.
Pearl Exotics do drop Dark Matter.
ARENANET: “We’ve resolved every issue that anybody ever had with GW2. You can all play the game exactly as you want, whenever you want. Everything will be achievable to everyone and rewards will be outstanding.”
HABITUAL COMPLAINER: “Took you long enough didn’t it?”
there’s already an existing place for that called the hall of monuments
all they need do is, make it accessible to everyone not just gw1 players only.
and yes add the idea about the asura device allowing you to revisit that content again.
Good idea for the Hall of Monuments. The scrying pool allowed you to look at past events, they could maybe incorporate that somehow.
