I think rules should be the same as in the fully legit category. The only required differences I can think of now are a limited number of usable embers, allowed hylek poison pot, pet whistle but nothing else.
I woulnd’t mind them being hosted as GW1 records, though I wouldn’t say no to a good-looking spot on the record page

Are there going to be leaderboards for every party size?
Uhhh… There could be, but probably not as short-term as the rest of the leaderboards.
Is there enough competition to really justify this?
Having no idea about how much trouble creating those leaderboards would cause I don’t know how much competition there has to be to justify them.
Most popular would be a solo category, which could also be named “smallest required party size”. What I mean is for example Arah P1: you need at least 4 people to do it but AC P3 can be solo’ed.
I’m not sure about the consumable restriction in this category, because from what I’ve seen they are sometimes required to kill a boss in a reasonable time (Solo Belka’s in my mind). That’s a reason I could see a possibility of allowing embers there although I’m not sure how many embers would be spammed at perhaps Lupi.
A possible solution for this could be to allow a set number of embers you can use.
What do you guys think about this?
Are there going to be leaderboards for every party size?
adding titles would be nice if you killed a boss in a certain time for example.
still waiting for a prestigeous mini lupi
3. she can’t attack you if you are underwater, but she was able to before the patch
I’m really happy they’ve finally fixed this!
Big ol bomb instantly explodes for 30k+ damage if 1 or more people get pulled from it, downing everyone in melee that gets hit by it and i think it explodes another time afterwards.
I like that, tho you can’t rely on WoR anymore
Edit: i wrote that before having annoying guardians with Justice…
lfm p2, need thief
yea those 1000g for armor + power infusions are totally worth time and money!
ac is perfectly doable with lvl 35 characters.
Basically, stacking in a corner + relying on your level 80 stats and gear makes most encounters trivial (and it’s only going to get worse as ascended gear pushes the stats even higher).
yea cause that’s what you do…
as to the 5 mesmer example.. dungeons are part of the endgame. if you start playing the game you don’t start with some of the most challenging things (dungeons in general, not ac) after 4 or 5 hours of playing.
i have a strong feeling that discussing with you is pointless so i’ll stop here
Suggesting a difficulty nerf (of an already nerfed dungeon) would be akin to saying university exams should be easier because middle schoolers are having trouble passing them.
Your logic is flawed. AC Explorable is (according to Arena Net) a level 35 dungeon. It should be doable by level 35 players.
So it’s not “middle schoolers doing university exams”, it’s second-graders doing a second grade exam. If they want explorable mode to be a level 80 (or 60, or whatever) dungeon, then label it as such. Currently, it’s a level 35 dungeon, and should be designed to be challenging (but doable, and fun) by a group of players who have reached level 35. And it would be, if the encounters focused on learning actual mechanics and working as a team, and not on pure DPS races, as they do.
The way AC becomes so much easier as you level up (despite the fact that everyone officially gets leveled down to 35 when they enter) suggests the sidekicking system isn’t working properly, either.
Arena Net should change the encounters to make gear / player stats less relevant, and make more complex mechanics that reward players with more skill, better awareness, and better sense of teamwork. Wasn’t that what they promised us before release?
I suspect a major problem is that they test their dungeons with sidekicked level 80 characters (instead of using characters of the actual dungeon level), and so the badly tuned sidekicking system is screwing up the balancing of the dungeons.
If they tested the dungeons with “real” level 35 characters, and / or if they fixed the sidekicking system to level characters down properly (so that a level 80 “feels like” a level 35 inside AC), the flaws in the dungeon design and balance would become a lot more obvious.
But I guess they’re too busy adding another tier of gear that no one wants (making the stat imbalance problem even worse) to actually fix the dungeons.
ac is perfectly doable with lvl 35 characters. only requirements are ability and willingness to learn + improve instead of just going in, dying and then complaining about the difficulty. if a group has watched guides carefully or invested some time in thinking about strategies and you still can’t do it, then it’s the wrong place for them. and i’m not talking about trying once or twice and then give up.
For some people, being challenged is something fun and those people don’t complain about faceplanting a few times but look at it as a reason to improve.
once you’ve done that you start to realise that dungeons in gw2 are only difficult for a short time, then they are easy and boring but that’s a different story…
gg you lunatic
if you want smooth runs there are two options: dungeon guild or getting a fl with decent players
Ty for the replies, from both. Not being too familiar with warrior, I did not know #4 was a ‘ranged’ attack
it’s what makes the skill really good. in p3 for example you can use it after life drain aoe and rip out when you get close again
Marc update your thread already!!!
hes only not banned for a few hours then banned again. atm he’s still banned i think^^
Is #4 sword more dps than axe auto? Would it be dps gain or loss?
Is riposte long enough to get you through AOE life drain in p3 after the first dodge on the raise?
Edit: I normally play on my mesmer. But once chuck quits messing around with wall I’m hoping to bring my war.
yes to both
When they don’t read your post. I don’t mind inexperienced people and I’ve explained tactics before but when they join an experienced group hoping to get carried I end up just kicking. Oh and I love when they join and say “I’m new do this path is it okay?”…sigh…
Water campings eles, 3 signet eles. Eles that don’t know how to use FGS, people who don’t know how to use FGS. People who pick up FGS and drop it after 2 uses. People who use that 25% speed boost. Warriors who use signet of rage but never activate it. Any person using their racial elites. Guardians who don’t use reflects in fractals or staff in TA. People who say “I’ll worry about myself and you worry about yourself” to justify a bad build or the inability to switch weapon sets for good of the team. People using WvW gear in PvE and still think their better than PvErs in PvE. People who camp range when you could obviously melee it. Thieves using dual pistols and short-bow. Thieves that don’t know what SR is, people who don’t know to stay in SR until the house disappears. People who go “pee” during every boss encounter. People who can’t run, especially rangers-learn to rampage as one-. People who complain about survivability. People who say every zerker they come across is always downed/dead to “prove” their point about berserkers. People who aren’t running wisps refusing to count down in the swamp fractal.
My biggest pet peeve of all is people who trigger oozes in AC p1. That kitten kitten es me the kitten off, I really can’t explain why I get so mad about it. It’s just so annoying when I tell them and draw on the map and they still don’t listen.
far worse/funny/sad are the people looking for ‘exp only, x000 + AP’. the people you see there… it’s disturbing
How else do we compete with champ farmers while avoiding losing brain cells?
By all means, continue if that’s how you choose to make money.
I just wish there were alternative parties I could join. I don’t want to pay gold to skip the entire dungeon, and just get the title. I want to actually play the dungeon with other players.
just because you don’t see any groups looking to do the dungeon doesn’t mean you can’t find any. I’ve pugged Arah quite a few times recently and never had to wait more than ~5minutes to find a party or filling up with my own lfg-ad
I’m bit curious. Has anyone tried anything creative on Warrior? Or just standard 30/25/0/0/15.
I tried to play around with reflects but was quite pointless when Warrior has so crap skills (Shield is only available for every other Frenzied Blast and Riposte/etc self-interrupts when close). On average 1 reflect per a Frenzied Blast.
i guess we may have missed some good things to improve time. if goku doesn’t come up with smthing new, nobody will probably cause he’s one of the very very few who are still pushing for new records
What’s hilarious is all the people who “appreciate” your (dungeon elitists) help, guides and snarky comments would get kicked in less than 10 seconds from your runs without even a comment.
You’re making wrong assumptions.
And yet, thread-after-thread of people making light of kicking “bads” because they were the wrong profession, using the wrong weapons, had the wrong buffs, etc.
Once again, I am not pointing to you in particular, nor a few others who comment with helpful answers, just the general sense of this board.
The tower of nightmares is a metaphor for this place some days, and those Elite Red-names?
Guess who they are.
there are of course players that dont allow certain classes. usually they are the “Exp only 5000 ap” that run in their clerics gear but still fail horribly and cant dodge grubs at lupi. but the op wasnt talking about those guys but about the actual good and friendly players, meaning most of the dungeon forum regulars
this thread makes me wanna go in pug groups and teach everybody though i doubt that would be received well ^^
anyway thx for reminding me of the people who aren’t kittens and actually appreciate advice. You think it’s gonna be all rainbows and lollipops.
…
actually it was. was looking for’ inexperienced willing to learn’. ofc they weren’t good but they were friendly and listened so i kinda enjoyed it

Sword #2 isn’t worth using. Try to use 2435 on greatsword to have vuln for highest amplifiers.
Is this a joke? Even putting aside the teleport/gap closer, Sword #2 is an instant-cast PBOE blind. Why wouldn’t you use an instant-cast AOE blind, especially when VOJ is on cooldown?
i think he’s talking about maxing dps. ofc you use it to close far gaps which mostly happen in skips. another problem with sword 2 is that it’s not actually instant 1 reason being aftercast(for me at least). also the vuln in parties is there without this skill. also VOJ usually hits 2 times in melee which is the only reason to use it to improve your melee dps
(edited by Spiky Muffin.9180)
I thought ~60% sword time seems to be best rotation wise but from what i experienced in my lupi solos the optimum is more around 50/50. And that even includes Force + Slaying on Sword/Focus. 3-4 boons are average in solo play, 5-6 in group play. 7-8 with some 6u4n66u4rd.
LOL
i c what u did there
Finally passing the 5 minute barrier on mesmer, I likely won’t be trying to beat the warrior record, as there are so many warriors, it will be beaten again soon anyways. Nontheless, Im sure it is possible.
Counting on you to necro your old thread Dub!
he’s currently banned cause he checked if BHBot looks at what is in reported posts. turns out reporting own post gave him 2 infraction points
Very good job Sandy
best dps test i know of would be the abomination in Arah Path 2 when using the safespot
I will never have a padawan cause I am in EU, people dont want help here
Sure they do, it’s just not always easily given.
If you’re still looking for an Arah Padawan, I’d be happy to pull off the ridiculous crop + braid Jedi hairstyle! Got a fully geared cleric guardian with ascendeds. Only done p3&4, but I would like to learn it well to be able to run it more often.
first teaching
clerics gear is a lie, there is only zerker
through zerker sou gain dps
through dps you gain experience
through experience your noob-chains are broken
People who skip him are boring.. I like fighting him, one of the actually challenging/fun boss fights there are in Arah. Endbosses are too easy. Besides, the fight isn’t that long.
though i still kill lupi my fun has been greatly reduced by anet kittening up dodge after whirling attack
I need to know what’s a padawan first ….
that’s part of general education!
id love to have you as a padawan atse
Dungeons are more profitable to run than ever, go away.
yep more profitable than ever but the rewards are not balanced at all and when comparing difficulty and time to frostgorge zerging it’s not as good as it should be
gj
edit: deleted what i first wrote cause it’d point something out which probably nobody would notice and it’d defeat the purpose of the vid unnecessarily. if anyone does notice… pls be quiet for the greater good
(edited by Spiky Muffin.9180)
Oh my god I love you guys so much right now!
BUT PLEASE PLEASE do not go for a lazy option by removing some places/adding walls, since there are way too many ways to get around GL apart from the coral.
Instead make killing GL a condition for getting the final reward in p1+2 aswell, just like it is with p3+4.
Regards
Yes pls. Don’t make an invisible wall fix…
Still don’t get why sellers are the bad guys… they’re doing those who buy(the “actual bad” guys) a favor
please give moneyz for vets who carry 1sttimers. i’d be selling p4 all day long :p
on a more serious note.. i also dont mind teaching/helping new players when they listen to what i say and maybe even show some interest that they want to know more
mostly ( even if i dont pug often) i seem to get the exact opposite of those people
is that infinite light?
everyone keeps telling him it’s ugly but he wont take it off :P
good job!
if i find time to play ill solo lupi like that on friday
Delightful as always swift. pls never stop doing what you are best at!
posts like these always make me happy
yeah same as cookie said. forgot to mention that is something that i dont fully agree with. using flash/blink to completly stop the movement shouldnt be used if its true that anet considers this an animation glitch and exploit
use sword and focus, focus for guardian […]
I don’t have a guardian and my advice may or may not be valid…
yea, doesn’t seem very valid
. It’s true though and as the other posters said you dodge backwards and then swordblock on warriror or focus on guard after this. when running shield you can use 5 to fully protect you on both classes (not 100% reliable on guard). look closely at the animation though, meaning that you shouldn’t do the 1st evade right at the start of the animation but ~1sec later so you aren’t roasted after 1st or 2nd evade.
This discussion is leading to the same results as always…
Anet seems to have forgotten how to create/support a good game when gw2 was launched
My reference is mainly to gw1 and uw. Although you were heavily relying on SF there were more viable classes than just 3/8. For record runs you couldn’t just use any professions ofc but for regular fast and casual runs you could even take an ele/monk/warrior/derv/ritualist spiker or use ele/ranger/mesmer/assa/derv t4 to name a few examples. The more I play gw2 the less entertaining it is since you don’t have to bother finding good traits for a specific dungeon or think about which build to use since the common builds are the best in 90% of all situations you can get in dungeons. I really miss the theorycrafting aspect that gw1 had and good group comp alone not being enough for decent runs.
Back on topic:
I wrote a huge thing but took too long and got timed out. So I’ll be brief. Some things I consider game breaking exploits, and wouldn’t consider a run using them to be valid. Some I consider shady, but valid. and others I consider perfectly legit. I don’t expect anyone to agree with my opinions nor do I expect them to at all be community standards.
To be truthful, I have been discouraged recently in going for record attempts because no matter what we do, someone will always be willing to exploit harder than I am. It’s not fun to work your kitten off for a record video only to have it trumped in 3 days because someone was willing to glitch a boss or go outside the map. If the community standard is that stuff is OK, so be it, but I don’t have any desire to participate in it in that case.
So here is my short list of common exploits and how I label them. Black are things I consider definite exploits that shouldn’t count for records. Grey is valid but shady. White is OK
Black
Using flowers, or positioning, to glitch a boss so that it either doesn’t attack at all, or so you can hit it, but it cannot hit you.
Going outside the map to skip things using blinks, portals or consumables.
Using blinks to bug animations for fiery great sword/bear form. Anet’s stance on animation graphical-only glitches is clear: they are an exploit. So an animation glitch that has a broken in game effect is bullkitten. It is basically a double abuse because you’re breaking the game to make an imbalanced, unintended mechanic even more imbalanced.grey
Using consumables to trivialize encounters aka Ash Legion Kits prenerf in Dredge or Spikey Fruit vs. Bjarl or the Lovers. Spikey Fruit is only still functional in dungeons because Hrouda didn’t know they existed when he removed Dam Debris, and he is no long in a position to do anything about them now. I list these as grey because they are consumables being used for the specific functon they are intended to be used in rather than used in ways as oppose to, say, gem store Flowers.
Staying inside a map, but using “clever” routes to skip things. The dredge jump is currently on the darker side of grey. the SE path 3 bridge ledge (which actually loses you time) is on the lighter side. Since you’re not going outside the map, and not using a consumable, I am OK with these types for records even if they are shadywhite
Fiery greatsword rush/bear form against a wall/corner – the big debate. I am in the middle ground between HC and rT on this. Using a blink, to me, is clearly an exploit. Arguing that it isn’t is ridiculous. And I feel the mechanic itself is broken and needs to be fixed, but that said, to take advantage of it without a blink requires positioning and timing, which are both skill based. So I am not opposed to record runs using it so long as there are no blinks used. Additionally, having an ele using the FGS rush isn’t even optimal for all dungeon records, only the ones with time gates that allows for fire field Might stacks to be used without costing the run time. So I don;t think it is AS BAD as HC, but I don’t think anything goes like rT feels is right.
Fire ele powders pet whistles etc: don’t think these break the game at all, and they are only really useful in a handful of places. They are more for speed kills rather than speed clears and the two are hardly synonymous.
^Exactly the way I see it
Vigor on critical hit, in some situations you just need that.
@Eric: Go upload that 5:08 already
yeah. forgot to mention that it is a build mainly for arah and also solo lupi. for smthing easier like ac or coe you could change those points in arcane. attunement recharge can help everywhere though
@ dub. maybe ill upload it not listed. i dont see a reason to make it public
Definitely a great idea.
Any good ele build lately? I have not run my ele in ages but would like to try again. Her current build is 20/30/0/20/0 and 10/30/0/20/10in short: 30/10/10/10/10
from what ive heard from the friend who runs this it has very high dps in groups but pretty hard to use. i think it mostly uses LH and blasts in firefields in between 2 hammers. the weapons he uses are mainly S/D ( main reason for that are combos)Why 10 in Arcana? What use could that be over the extra damage modifier from going 20 into Water?
i cant tell you i dont play ele anymore. maybe this isnt what he’s using now. you should ask him.
he’s called “Pepsi Ele”
Definitely a great idea.

weve cleared it up. surprise: it was just a misunderstanding and poor choice of words. wall obviously is a way to use a boss mechanic. i guess everyone gets that this is legit. all it does is making the run faster ( not for mes and guard ofc) and easier
i always thought you are a decent person james. cant say that since you insult me and a friend for no reason. all i did is question wall, no personal attack there
you dont need a specific server. use an online website such as gw2lfg.net or gw2lfg.com
less popular would be the one on gwscr.com
either you do that or just be patient for the official ingame LFG tool coming in two weeks
I think they said somewhere that somehow they would allow some sort of skin collection in a wardrobe somewhen in the future.
CJ mentioned a wardrobe in an interview on MattVisual’s channel. He wasn’t specific about it just said that it’s something they’re aware of if I remember correctly
updated warrior solo:
http://youtu.be/iQGkazxdXR4
still not good, but better stats
I can only confirm what Haviz and Weth said. Although I don’t pug often anymore I was kicked quite a few times for things like meleeing GL.
To some extend it may even be true that you are hurting the team since (at least in my runs) there are always 1-2 people who swap to melee when they see me do it and they are usually killed very fast after getting 2-3 grubs. Seems to be a far fetched explanation though :)
People will most likely report you for it. I got kicked from a CoE run not too long ago because pugs wanted me to pay up at the end of the path. That said, i have sold spots with a friend once, so not everyone is a baddie.
Some people are legit, others are scum. It’s a 50/50
more like 90(“scum”)/10 honest
that is if you consider skipping bosses i.e. lupi
in order to be able to solo and sell the pathSkipping lupi is a cheap move, but this whole path selling thing is branching out to other dungeons too, such as CoE as i mentioned in my post above. It kind of worries me, to be honest but yet i also support it in another way. It makes 2 manning or even soloing dungeons much more profitable and gives players more reward for their time spent.
i agree. especially with the new update selling is one of the few interesting things to do after your first set of runs since it’s the only thing that makes several runs rewarding…
