The RNG should stay exactly the same BUT you should get a fractal claim ticket rather than a random probably useless untradable weapon.
Starting tonight the number of fractal disconnects has skyrocketed. About every few minutes a member of our party would get disconnected. Never experienced any lag just a brick wall of nothingness. Fractal was hosted on Fort Aspenwood.
It’s not a big deal yet since they’re not really used for anything outside of infusion, but it’s curious how i have yet to get anything but vials of condensed mist in 30-38 fractals. Always got level appropriate drops for other tiers. Just started forties and the only one I got so far was a glob.
Could it be rollover of some flag?
1-9: vial
10-19: glob
20-29:: shard
30-39: vial
40-49:glob
Experience crippling game stopping log for ten second periods, chat works fine, internet works fine for anything else. Only happens during prime time. Only happened starting this weekend. Never had lag before that didn’t freeze at least everything within guild wars.
Happened in a fractal, which is also a first for lag, typically get it only in the dragon swarms
Yeah now that we get reliably useful in game rewards from daily/monthlies(laurels jugs and coins rather than just coins in the beforetime), the infinitely missable points should probably be scrapped, maybe a completionist title track for number completed, but keep it bounded. We get good rewards for doing the daily monthly anyways so its not like anyone’ll avoid ’em.
Ah like buying it with gems? That’s something that seems feasible actually since you can make traditionally money purchases like character slots with gems. Depending on how long they plan on supporting GW1 that is otherwise, lots of nerd rage.
It’s been going on since near launch actually, unfortunately it doesn’t look like arenanet will be doing serverside checks any time soon. They just trust your client if it says you teleported across the map to the next node.
Does anyone know if there’s work on localizing into other languages(personally interested in Japanese)? Only posts I can find referencing it seem to say it was planned for at release, but seven months afterwards I haven’t heard anything. This isn’t meant to complain, I know localization takes a ridiculous amount of time/effort but I guess i was spoiled with guild wars 1’s frankly crazykitten range of languages. They need to bring back bork! bork! bork! if nothing else :-P.
Happened again earlier today,

edit:
To clarify this occurs after complete lagout for a minute or two rather than abruptly. And while minor lag occurs at all world events, nothing even in the same league as the shatterer.
(edited by Stratzvyda.3921)
The simplest solution is to simply have all dragon pre-events start at the same time, for all servers. Don’t need to change the frequency or do any weird guesting priorities just eliminate the incentive for guesting by not staggering the dragons. People in the server won’t be affected at all(except fewer people to fight dragons, but with rewards as they are i doubt that’d be serious)
I’m on Ehmry Bay. It’s frequently mentioned in chat and even the guesters causing the problem complain about it happening on other worlds. During off hours it’s usually just lag but during main times disconnects are pretty common. Curious part is it only really happens with the shatterer not even jhormag’s claw which has more people has it.
Shatterer is pointless now, you’re guaranteed at least one disconnect per fight and if its near the end you’ll get nothing.
There is certainly some rampaging going on here too.
But also some sadness, because we will be just-another-gear-grind-MMO as of today
But I’m sure the many good things will outweight that one very, very negative thing!
It’s not a gear grind and all of you scare mongers need to stop complaining about this. For starters they’re only introducing TWO pieces of ascended gear at the moment, and it sits above Exotic and between Legendaries, so it actually reduces gear grind. Just be excited for new content and the opportunity to advance your character. Or would you rather get your exotic gear and then stay there for the next few years -_-
Wut.
People aren’t angry because they changed the cosmetic grind. If they’d just done that that wouldve been awesome. hell even having the ascended be equivalent stats but with the ascension slots wouldve been alright. It’s the fact that three months in there’s already power creep and no reason to believe it will stop. In order to be at maximum stats you need the new tier of gear.
To the others, saying this isn’t grindtastic because other mmos do it worse is like saying that dudes not an kitten for punching a toddler because that guy’s running over one with a car.
Yeah as it is now I’m using a bank tab for ‘em, but i’d gladly sacrifice the extra space in the tab for being able to deposit them
No, they’ll never make precursors easier to get. They are literally the only thing holding the economy together at the moment.
Keep in mind that full most likely has absolutely nothing to do with player activity. If someone’s inactive and hasn’t played for a month they’ll probably still count towards the server population. There’s no reason to believe that it’s on an activity base, because while logical it would be worse for PR regardless of activity levels. This of course is even assuming they don’t artificially lower the full bar to so say their servers are full.
I think you missed the point, as Magic find is the primary stat on those items jumping up from masterwork to exotic should at least give a 1% bonus to correspond with the significant loss of stats relative to other exotics.
If there’s a swarm of dudes at that point raining down aoes and hellfire that is perfectly fine and should be accepted as part of the pvp experience. Seige should not be allowed to be placed in the jumping puzzle however.
It’d be nice if the closest waypoint was free when you died.
They have no reason to care, we already payed. It’s a lot easier to market “look at all the cool new things we’re doing!” than “we actually fix game breaking issues” because swarms of people will just call you an entitled basement troll for wanting a working product.
This and making titles more visible would be a wonderful thing
They have a history of this, there’s a slight problem, they break it to kitten, a month or so later it’s finally fixed.
I hope they do some kind of tie in with meatober fest, i know it’s not october but it seems oddly appropriate.
Here’s to hoping that the big november 15 update does something about this, not holding my breath.
that was totally worth pissing off their international fans it would break everything if that repeated every hour or if you had the option to view the cutscene on your own time
The one time only can’t miss event was a five second cutscene? That’s why you pissed off most of your international fan base? You didn’t want to show a five second cutscene? Why wouldn’t that be repeatable?
Yeah, it really doesn’t matter, somehow most people die in the first ten seconds soyou just need to learn the first few jumps.
the problem ender is that gold sellers offer 5 to 1 rates compared to the gem store, a whole lot of schlubs are willing to go that way because there’s no middle ground in this game. Either somethings ridiculously easy to get or it has a 1 in 10000 chance of coming from the mystic forge. This means if you buy gold you need to do it in bulk making the better rates worth that much more of a risk.
so thats one servers worth of bots? Congratulations i guesss? Y’all were somehow expecting bots would completely leave you alone because you’re special and didn’t have any tools to deal with them? The incompetence is just staggering, this and the final boss being bugged for over a month from launch are in a dead heat for most mind bogglingly stupid failures in support.
What? People are playing our new content? And enjoying the new items? RELEASE THE DOGS OF NERF!
they’d most definitely agree, then you ask them for what possible proof you could provide them to prove it’s their fault as you can get over 10mb/s on those ports with any other application and get silence as a response. I mean it’s just a coincidence that it’s peaking around halloween when more people are logging on right? It’s not that they’re too cheap to rent enough servers to handle the load that would be crazy talk.
They will ban in waves undoubtedly. However these waves will be extremely far apart and more to maximize arenanets profitability from new bot accounts rather than fixing the problem.
They shouldn’t worry at all about the client. The client is always fallible, no matter how secure you try to make it it will be broken within a day it’s the nature of the beast. The only solution is to check it server side.
Because botters buy large amounts of accounts and thereby funnel tons of cash to arenanet. We already payed, they have no reason to care.
Don’t worry they’re super serious about banning the bots that funnel them large amounts of cash through buying accounts. If you see the number of bots growing geometrically you’re just delusional.
Server Latency and Game Disconnects... proof its server side.

I’d wager they just don’t have enough servers up to handle the Halloween boom. At least for me it happens a lot more frequently at traditional peak hours. If that’s the case it will be…. interesting to see what happens at the finale.
just because they place a portal doesn’t mean you need to use it
Why isn’t there a latency indicator like there is in basically every other online game on the market? It’s extremely aggravating because instead of taking the common sense approach of guild wars 1 and countless other online games, they decide to give you free control while their server’s chugging so you have no way to figure out where you are until you’re suddenly yanked back. I understand every MMO in existence doesn’t have enough servers to handle traffic on holidays, but the current state of things is pretty ridiculous.
Getting disconnected from the server since patch.

yeah the “fix” they rolled out caused it to screw over people even without authenticators.. Could be not having enough servers for the holiday i guess, would fit with their general mentality.
many crashes today.. code 7:1000:7006:836:101

Same, no authenticator, game disconnects every ten minutes or so. Someone really screwed the pooch on this latest “fix”. It wouldn’t be as much of a problem if you had the ability to rejoin instances. Game randomly loses connection, maybe a third of the time it boots to character screen rest of the time you’re dead after 30 seconds of nothingness. Instantly able to reconnect, fine past that point for another ten minutes or so.
There’s absolutely no reason to do any of the jumping puzzles more than once. It’s aggravating enough that there’s no puzzle aspect to them, just follow the line of technical jumps and try and figure out where the invisible walls are. But on top of that, they all drop terribad loot. I love the ones where there are three or so potential paths, but only one goes to the target chest, but since you have no idea where the target chest is there’s no possible way you can choose the correct one except by luck.
Traits missing vital informations in tooltips to make informed decisions.

I understand the frustrations that come with inaccurate descriptions. I’ve worked a lot on the skill “fact” system to bring it up to a good point, but I know there is more we can do. This includes making all buffs, upgrades, sigils, and traits affect skill tooltip numbers (some already do), adding additional skill facts based on traits, as well as adding the same or similar “fact” system to trait descriptions.
There are a couple reasons why trait/skill descriptions aren’t as accurate as they could be. They were constantly changing up until ship for balance and polish. This means some of the descriptions are just out of date. Also, each time a number is changed within the text, it needs to get localized again. This means it’s more efficient to make them a little more vague to lessen the localization cost and protect ourselves if that number needs to change again. That’s why skills have “facts” instead of baking the numbers into the descriptions. The last reason it’s difficult to keep skills and traits accurate is because of technical and time limitations. Our skills are complicated, and it takes designers a lot of time to make sure the numerous parts are correct. Sometimes we don’t even have the ability to make the facts accurate (summon’s damage was a tricky one).
I’m personally very passionate about skill descriptions. We know there are improvements that can be made and I’ll push to get time to revisit them because, well, I just like them
Wait what? So your two reasons for the innacuracies are:
1. We didn’t bother to update the tooltips before shipping because…………
2. Localizing numbers is hard, a french 1, and an english 1 are completely different. Even if for some reason you weren’t using actual numbers(which would make no sense), it’s not like it takes any cognitive effort to retranslate numbers, there’s no context dependence.
Well given the time frame on bots being several months when it’s a top priority supposedly fixing something they’re watching should be done around 2015
Honestly the botting issue is minor and mundane compared to the extremely disturbing fact that they can still teleport. Why arenanet believed their client should be perfectly trusted is beyond me, it’s nothing against arenanet’s security, you always assume your client is going to made an exploiters kitten because there’s nothing you can do about it, it’s a fact of life.
The situation’s complicated by the fact that bots account for a significant sourceof revenuefor Anet. They are not hacking accounts and making new characters to level 80 with gibberish names when it will be locked the instant the owner makes a ticket about it especially now that you require authentication for new logins. They are not using stolen credit cards for the same reason, that is detected very quickly, before they could even get to 80. They are making custom accounts, levelling a character to 80 on them, farming with them, and then selling a lvl 80 character account. That’s the main reason most companies follow a wave banning model it’s extremely profitable for all parties. Bots make far more than the cost of the account in the several month period, and will buy new accounts as soon as that period’s over. Wave banning only makes sense from a technical perspective when dealing with bots that are difficult/impossible for players/GMs to detect. If your bot is running in a swarm with dozens of other bots following the same preset path, it does not tip your hand to your detection methods the logical belief would be “oh i guess one of the several hundred people who saw our pain train reported us since we’re so obvious”
Unfortunately they’re probably all well proxified. Even the strictest anti-bot systems that even scan your computer(warden etc.) are completely innefective after a few weeks. Only possible defense is a strong support/moderation system to make it non-profitable, which is by far arenanets weakest point. Banning in waves months apart just gives them time to recoup their expenses, which I suppose makes sense from a business standpoint for arenanet but sucks for everyone else.
i still regularly get 3+ a day
so what mmo just gives you end game gear and doesnt require you to grind?
Guild wars 1
Honestly the skill points will be the least of your concerns, you’ll get ten times over that on your way to getting your karma.
