Norn – Warrior
Yak’s Bend
I would like to join your guild.
I have a support ticket open, but I wanted to see if anyone else is getting disconnected from the server sporadically to the Character Select screen more frequently since the 7/24 update?
The game had no problems the night before on 7/23. I have had no hardware updates and the only software update was GW2. I have tried rebooting my router and PC, and I am having no issues surfing the net.
The disconnects are in random locations, doing anything from standing still, events, harvesting minerals, etc. I get disconnected at least once in an hour time frame.
I agree that in the games current state, players should be allowed to play how they want and if someone doesn’t like skipping mobs, then create your own group or join groups that plan on not skipping.
Having said that, I am not sure why Anet allowed the mobs to lose agro in dungeons, which is why groups are capable of skipping in the first place. Mobs should not lose agro and if a group is capable of downing the 10 or so mobs they trained to a location then that should be fine.
Another option would be to give the players an incentive for killing mobs, like stacking magic find and/or gold % each time you kill a mob.
Charged lodestones have lots of recipes for weapons that is in high demand because of the good looking skins. the awesomeness of all the skins made with charged lodestones is many more than any other recipe using other types of lodestones. that is what increase the price and demand for the charged lodestones compared to all the other lodestones.
Yeah that’s bull, mate.
It is not because the demand is that much higher than other Lodestones, it is because there are so very few mobs in the game right now that can drop them. And just to spawn them you have to take a Temple in Orr.
If Anet came to their senses and added more lvl70+ Lightning Elementals in the world you would eventually see a normalization of the price.
I wold argue that they drop every bit as frequently as Onyx lodestones or Molten Lodestones, and have the same number of drop locations; however the ease of running CoF has artificicially deflated the value of Molten lodestones, and the lower number of things to do with Onyx lodestones leads to a lower demand that accounts for the difference in value between the two. Far fewer people run TA or CoE than smash their face at CoF p1 over and over again.
Most of my charged lodes / cores come from Fractals or orrian jewelry boxes, I wish I could say that I ran CoE a lot but…. I don’t. I’m also working on The Dreamer which doesn’t require lodestones, and Volcanus which doesn’t require charged lodes…. so I have less motivation to go there.

The problem is not the drop rate of Charged Lodestones, the issue is with CoF farming. I am also saying this as someone who is saving up for Volcanus. Anet needs to address the fact that a majority of its players only play 1 or 2 dungeons because they are faster and more lucrative. It just happens that Molten cores and lodestones drop from the dungeon that is farmed the most, driving the prices of these materials lower since the market is inundated with them.
Starting tonight, I have been getting disconnected from the game client back to character select screen about 5 times in the past hour. Has anyone else been having this problem starting today? I lost connection 4 times in HotW and 1 time in LA in just the past hour…
I’ve played MMO’s for 10+ years, I haven’t been this relaxed or satisfied with a game in a very long time.

I have enjoyed all of the dungeons. They are difficult until you learn the encounters. All of my runs have been with PUG groups. What I have noticed that makes the dungeons difficult or easy are a players skill level and knowledge of the instance. People need to get in the habit of speaking up when they run a dungeon they are unfamiliar with so that someone can explain encounters.
The only problem I see with dungeons are the chest rewards filled with vendor trash. Anet has already stated they are aware of the problem with dungeon loot and are working on a fix.
I have run all of the dungeons with numerous successful PUG groups. None of the groups were looking for specific professions. As a matter of fact, I intentionally avoid groups looking for a “Tank” or specific profession since I have never seen a reason to have a specific profession in any of the dungeons.
Having said that, there is a noticeable difference in the difficulty of the dungeons when it comes to a players skill level or knowledge of the instance. People need to get in the habit of speaking up if they enter a dungeon they have never done. It is also a good idea to equip more team oriented skills.
This is just my opinion, there is no need for specific builds or professions when running dungeons.

Single player dungeons is a horrendous idea. You probably should play Skyrim and not an MMORPG.
I have not had a problem finding groups to run dungeons.
For the Asura path you can hug the left wall and pull like 2 or 3 mobs at a time back into the hallway. You work your way towards the riflemen and eventually pull them to the room under the floor. You don’t have to pull that main group in the center.
For the Butler path, you can jump on the ramp hugging the wall to the right (even jump on the rock and then ramp). Work your way up the ramp and body pull the riflemen to the room under the floor.
In both cases you avoid pulling the large group in the center.
I support this thread. Another viable option to get Lodestones would be great. Increase the drop chance in chests and purchasable using dungeon tokens.
@guide
I believe the best place for Molten cores and loadstones is CoF. That is the only place where I have seen them drop. The drop rate is very low, I usually come away with 1 or 2 every other run.
Thank you for the response. I am sorry but I should have clarified that I mainly PvE which is why I chose the AOE of Fire over single target Air.
Why Sigil of Air over Fire? Fire is AOE based and Air is single target?
I wanted to get some opinions from other players on the matter of Greatsword sigils. I run a DPS build with berserker gear and I am currently using the Sigil of Fire. Prior to that i was running with Sigil of Strength to try and keep might at 25 stacks. Does anyone have an opinion or anything they can share with regards to the choices you made and why?
Has anyone done the math on sigil dps comparison or can point me in the right direction to a website or article? I have been unable to locate any comparison articles in these forums or google.
Thank you!
If you’re having trouble making more than 3 silver a day, you seriously need to revamp your game plan.
On average, I can get 50s a day with dailies, achievement, story line, and the biggest money maker of all TP-ing. So I would say that 3-6 silver of repairs for dying, don’t make a scratch.
Edit: And I haven’t spent a single gem on this game.

I agree. If you are having problems paying this kind of money for repair bills, you might want to look at where you are spending all your money. My guess is the Trading Post… Unless of course you are taking a dirt nap so much that you are constantly having to repair. If that is the case you need to look at your build, armor, and find your dodge key.
Unless clarified by the devs I don’t think we can really know that it’s intended combat rather than intended potential combat. In any part of the game, if an activity/enemy is not an objective (or directly related to one, like attacking something you need alive) in the mission you’re trying to complete, you can ignore it. You can also choose to attack every ghost you see underground in Ascalon just because you happen to be passing through on your way to kill a specific one, but if you’ve set out to do X and you complete X without killing some random thing between you and it, I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem.
This really just sounds like you have a personal disagreement with the people you tend to group with…
I agree with being able to skip mobs that are not directly in front of you and your objective (i.e. a room full of mobs off to the side). I am talking about the individual who creates the party, gets everyone into the instance and says, “Follow close, dodge and try not to die”. They then proceed to run through dozens of mobs as the group trails behind. Now, if one or more don’t make it, the portion of the team that did make it are usually not going to come back and help in anyway since there is now a wall of mobs between the team and the individual(s) who died. The burden of the group not being successful or slowed down will solely be placed on the individual(s) who did not make it. It would have been faster to just clear the mobs.
Not to mention this method usually reduces how many waypoints you have access to, further creating problems if someone actually dies during a boss fight.
It would be interesting to hear the devs take on this issue…
It is my opinion that the best way to handle speed runs is for mobs in dungeons to never lose agro. I am not sure why they allowed players to train through mobs that you could eventually outrun and would return to the spawn point in dungeons. They need to make it so that if you train through mobs in a dungeon your group never loses agro so when you get to your destination there is an army of mobs trailing behind you.
Some people actually enjoy the lore and story and it would be worth it to them to complete story mode.
In addition, it would be worth it just to be certain that you have someone who can initiate the explorable mode. Nothing like putting together 5 people only to discovery nobody completed Story mode.
Our group had a difficult time with this fight at first until we made adjustments. Yes, the boss will shoot out some green mist attack that does significant damage and spawns more spiders. It was either the mist attack or we were backing up too far and the fight was resetting. The animation prior to the mist is very noticeable. When you see the tree “shake”, you need to dodge to the SIDE (not backwards). If you dodge backwards you will avoid a portion of the attack but will more than likely get hit by the trailing mist.
Once you get the habit of dodging to the left or right when he shakes, the fight is easy.
Does anyone know if existing chests that people have been hoarding have a chance to drop the new skins or is it only new chests that are found AFTER the event goes live on October 22nd.
Yes, you can replace the armor runes with whatever rune you want. The old rune will be destroyed in the process.
I am not sure about the rest of you, but I never visit my home instance unless I was required by my personal story.
A suggestion I have is to make the home instance more personalized to the player. The instance should be smaller where only you and whoever you allow can enter. You should be able to furnish the home with items from vendors or the Trading Company (chairs, tables, paintings, etc..). Players can also acquire items/trophies while adventuring or completing achievements that they can use to decorate their house. Lord of the Rings online had a great player housing setup.
This may also encourage players to return to their home cities once in a while instead of always being in Lions Arch.
Thank you,
Sounds great, I sent you a PM Rabbit!
Because people don’t like change Raf. I would think that WoW was a lot of gamers first MMO’s considering how long it has been out.
If they were to introduce dungeon raids that had its own set of gear and Anet stuck with the same gear philosophy. It would be a matter of a couple of days before people started complaining that Raids are a waste of time because the gear is just as good as dungeons. They would demand that raids have better gear since it requires more people and coordination. Thus, turning this game into something they are more familiar with. After the raids were introduced and the loot adjusted they would start asking for the holy trinity.
I personally think that they should make the existing dragons a possible end game alternative to raiding by increasing the difficulty of the encounters, randomizing the spawn timer and increase the rewards.
The current LFG function in the contacts list is terrible. Not only do people not know it exists, but it’s simply has poor functionality to begin with. All it does is put you on a list saying you’re looking for a group; it doesn’t give any actual relevant information. Are you looking for a group to just run and complete the map with? Looking for a group to run story mode? Looking for a group to run exploration? It’s woefully inadequate.
I’d be fine if there was no automated dungeon finder, but if you want the LFG thing to be useful I’d at least like to see the list compiled between all maps, with the ability to put WHAT you’re looking for and what class you are (ex. you can filter yourself under LFG – Crucible of Eternity/Story Mode/Thief).
+1 I agree with this. If they do not want to implement an automated LFD tool, then they need to modify their existing LFG option to include a global search of LFG characters that displays the class, dungeon(s)/Map quest etc.. and a notes section.
A global LFG channel would be disastrous. You would be forced into reading all the childish banter, Guild recruitment spam and gold spammers.
I got you beat Bling. CM EM two different days, only ran the Butler path. 12 tokens total for both runs on two separate days…. BOOYA!
Has anybody Ran CM? I have ran it two days in a row now and got full rewards for the whole group.
Aleiro, I have ran CM EM two days in a row, Butler runs only. BOTH times I received 6 tokens. Are you only suppose to get 60 tokens if you are level 80? I am level 66.
I think this is a great idea.
There are several dungeons I would like to run at night after I get off work. Unfortunately, that usually means I need to be on the same map as the dungeon in order to find try and find a group. If nobody in the guild is interested, that usually results in bouncing from waypoint to waypoint trying to find a group for one of the dungeons. It is bearable when you have hearts, vista’s or skill points that still need to uncovered on the map but if you have 100% of the map it can get pretty boring.
I know you can flag yourself as LFG under the contacts menu but I don’t believe anyone actually uses it.
I agree with Dee Jay. Visually, the fight is amazing and most if not all Champion/Veteran mobs are tougher than the dragon fight.
The build up is also done very well with the dragon flying through the sky, hearing the roar and seeing the shadow as you traverse the map. I was anticipating an epic event when the battle began…
I am as casual as they come. We did CM Exp mode last night and I only earned 6 badges. I have not run a dungeon in the last couple of days leading up to this patch.
Not all scenarios would play out that way, especially if the events are random. Guilds would need enough players online at the time who are willing to drop what they are doing to participate in the event.
I am making these suggestions in the hopes that the dragon events could serve as another viable form of end game. Right now, they are too easy.
After participating in the Shatterer encounter and reading some articles in this forum regarding the simplicity of the dragon events, I thought I would create a topic for player suggestions. I feel that dragons have the potential to become a viable end game encounter, possibly even a raid for guilds.
Here are some of my ideas/suggestions:
1. Dragon encounters difficulty would need to be increased dramatically. To the point where the fights require similar awareness and phases as explorable mode boss encounters (air phase?, adds, etc..). The fight would be long and require players to familiarize themselves with the event phases and boss mechanics or risk numerous waypoint run backs and a hefty repair bill.
2. The timer on the dynamic event would be random and the events leading up the dragon fight itself would require a series of solo and group quests to be completed. The participation of individuals for the entire process (quests and fight) would determine overall rank (gold, silver, bronze). The monetary, experience and karma rewards would also be scaled up for a dragon encounter.
3. Dragon Tokens and a gear/item vendor (perhaps dragon bone/scale armor). The tokens are generic for all dragons.
4. Since the events are random, the townspeople in the major cities could announce or give hints that a dragon event is taking place at “X” location. Players would start gathering at the location and begin working on the quests. Guilds could start forming groups to head over and participate.
These are just a few thoughts I had. Please share some of your own ideas on how Anet could improve these encounters. If you feel the events are fine as they are, please feel free to comment.
Thank you for your time,
I am a level 40 Warrior looking for a casual, mature guild who are interested in all aspects of PvE with some occasional PvP. I am 36 years old with a family, kids and real life commitments. I usually log on during the week around 8/9 pm PST until around 11 pm/12 am PST and sporadically throughout the day on the weekends.
I am interested in all aspects of PvE and just started running AC EM. I enjoy questing, dynamic events, crafting, mapping out new areas and running dungeons. I am also interested in some light PvP action eventually.
I have enjoyed Guild Wars 2 so far and I am looking forward to finding a guild I can adventure with.
