As someone who played GW2 for nearly 2 years and only recently started playing FFXIV, I find the UI in FFXIV to be more versatile and customizable . The game lets u move around ur UI and set it where ever u want, u can also have up to 10 skill bar and set hot keys for each individual skill/item slot. Plus it has better pet control than GW2

Another player complaining a company wants to make money (OMG!!!111!!!!) besides the fact that Gems (or real money currency exchange) can be acquired by playing the game. Oh, what a surprise…

Why should anyone care? And why are you even posting that here?

To be fair why do you care he has posted it.. its not like its in any way shape or form affecting your own experience.. every game whether MMO or Single Player has its joiners and leavers, but one thing remains constant.. every person has an opinion and like to voice it in their own way.. the OP has put his over, he hasn’t resorted to profanity and he hasn’t gone for the “oh I am so full of sadness” approach either, he just put it out there.
So he created a new character in a new game to show us all he has jumped ship.. big deal, have fun in your new land of coloured pixels… there was that so hard to do Vayne?

Actually moving FFXIV

I hope you like cat people (aka Miqo’te) and boring old humans (aka Hyur). (See the screenshot from FF14 census below).

When I say “cat people”, I’m talking about humans with cat ears and extreme flexibility They’re not the cute, cuddly Charr who will rip apart a dragon minion at a moment’s notice. You may as well join the human RPers on Tarnished Coast server if want to play a human character.

My advice to you: Keep your stuff, and dont’ give anything away. It’s a GW2 wanna be with WoW mechanics. GW1’s storyline and WoW’s story surpass FF14’s tale with ease.

I tried FF14 last September. People are friendly, but it’s easy to get locked out of the populated NA servers. I tried out the various servers (Brunhildr, Exodus, Gilgamesh Balmung [LEGACY], etc). I manage to get on the populated servers by logging in during the odd hours in the Seattle area. When I tried out the game, alot of the NA servers were closed to new players. Worse, there is no megaserver system. If you don’t get onto a populated server, you’re out of luck esp. later when you have to find a guild for the raids. There is no way to get onto populated maps by friending others or joining a guild. It was extremely hard to get onto a populated server. There are no Network guilds that people can join, so they enter shards with like-minded folks.

(All you Anti-Megaserver folks can gripe all you want, but Megaserver is the biggest innovation to MMORPGs. It makes it easier to find people who better fit your gameplay style and guild.

Hardcores can find other Hardcores.
Casuals can find other Casuals.
RPers can discover new RPers.
And so on.)

Like ArcheAge, the game’s player housing is a gimmick and a joke. It’s too expensive for the housing. Unlike the home instances in this game, you don’t get player housing at the beginning of the game. FF14 players are paying $12 an hour for housing that is too expensive for the individual. Worse, you have to be part of a Free Company (aka guild) and chip in with others to get a house. This introduces a problem similar to what WoW has: People recruit guildies to get guild perks, and then they g-kick the guildies when they get the high level perks.

Unlike GW2, there is no dodging to avoid an enemy’s attack, and it takes time for skills to activate. Players have to stand in place while fighting esp. if you’re a mage. If you’re soloing a fast enemy, your character is forced to take damage while casting one dinky spell. Not even WoW’s mages were THAT bad.

Then there are the FF14 Raids. If one player on a team makes a mistake, the whole team fails. It’s too easy for a griefer or troll to mess up a team. Unlike Tequatl, there is no way to recover if a griefer interferes with the fight.

In FF14’s event system (aka FATE), only the person who does the most damage to the enemy gets the gold and loot. If you come in late during an event, you get next to nothing.

Then there is the monster camping. Yes,you have to camp for monsters like WoW. ((cringe))

During Sept, there were a couple of festivals, but those events were devoid of players when I got to the festival area.

In the end, Final Fantasy 14 is not worth $12 a month.

GW2 has its flaws which have been mentioned zillions of times on this forum. I get that. This game is the best non-subscription game on the market. At least you’re not wasting $12 a month on this game!

Worth a shot, did played WoW for 2 years during Vanilla and BC.

6k hour, almost 10 legendary, 2 year later the game is still almost the same with some minor changes. Even tho the game focus on cosmetic, majority of the good looking/ unique looking ones are lock behind gem store. This is no different than other f2w mmorpg except its pay to look nice.

You just prove the game’s worth its initial cost. Thanks for playing with us and may you find a new game worthy of another 6k hours.

If you don’t mind, I could use some of your tips and tricks. You can PM or maybe post a guide somewhere. Or just send me any of your gear/gold/whatever you can afford. Have fun and good luck

6k hour consist of doin the same 8 dungeon path each day, and afkin in LA, waiting for the tp, chatting, bsin, and complaining about how this game is like pay to win instead of gear treadmill u have pay to look pretty. How nothing have change much, and every patch brought along more gem store related stuff instead of gettin it doing the content. Even if u can get it through game play, it is usually lock behind more rng, Ghost dog…

I dislike raids. It just breeds a hostile elitist community around it (not even counting the power-creeping gear treadmill which hopefully wouldn’t happen here, but I don’t believe they’ve ruled that out). And what for? So you can grind the same static thing over and over?

I really don’t see the appeal. Sure the first few times it can be awesome if it’s good content. But after you’ve mastered it (and expect everyone else too as well) ..how does that not get stale?

We should be pushing more more player-driven sandbox content. That’s way more dynamic with way more longevity. Give us more things we can do in the world. More ways to work together or against each other. More ways to “make our mark” in the world, personally, and as a guild. Grinding a bunch of instanced static encounters 100x couldn’t possibly sound less interesting. And the community it breeds is just another strike against it.

What, u want more escort, def, guard, protect dynamic event. The game can’t keep on cathering to casual player. Hardcore player would get bored and leave.

I’m sorry but this game is too amazing to not have any endgame content.
Fractals and playing dress up isnt end game content.
The game was great, until I hit 80….now its boring, nothing to do.
I love crafting in any mmo, I usually horde mats and such. GW2 theres no reason to, why waste my time when all crafting is for is the nicest gear, but there is no reason to have it unless you want to run a 5-man fractal (5 MAN!?, might as well call it an expert dungeon)
There are too many games out there that have everything gw2 has and much more.
Devs need to figure out a way to keep people engaged at 80, fractals and playing barbie dress up is not it.
WE NEED RAIDS!

As long as Agony Resistance is the way you progress, I’m okay with it. I don’t want to be able to come back to Arah in Tier 76 gear and one shot all the enemies. IMO Agony Resistance is a good balance between grinding for stats and a lack of stat grind.

You only need 70 Agony resistance at 50. All u really need it a full ascended, I am sure alot of the true gamer already meet the requirement.

Diminishing Return on loot actually stay in effect even after u switch zone. Even Champ would not drop champ bags any more.

Sure raiding not be for everyone. But there needs to be a way to show the effort people put into the game by completing raid content. A way to distance the hardcore mass that sticks around weeks after weeks learning the fight from the filthy casual that enjoy spamming 1

Yeah .. content for the elitists that constantly insult all other players .. that will save the game .. why not ban 90% of the players because they are just “filthy casual #1 spammers”
so that we only have those real skilled corner stackers left, since they are the only
one that counts.

Than delete the whole open world that you can login directly from charselect
to a corner where you can stack and kill a boss with spamming #1.

And new content .. every month that boss gets double hitpoints and hits for double
damage, and the corner gets another color .. and since you got gear that also
doubled your hitpoints and the damage you do .. in the end nothing changes
but hey .. its called progression and will keep those players that think they are
so much wiser than everybody else.

If u think u can stack in a corner and spam 1 to down bosses, u clearly never been in a raid. As i was saying, the rewards would only be skin with no stats increase, as u progress better skin would drop, but bosses encounter would get harder more complicated and would require better planning. Most raid bosses has attack that can potientally wipe a whole raid if not interupted.

But creating content that gives the best items only to 1-5% of the playerbase while
kittening of the rest of the playerbase is not really something that would keep “people”
interestet .. and maybe made all those people leave that choose this game mainly
for the reason that they simply had enough from these raid-grinders.

More maps .. yes .. more world bosses .. yes of course .. more skins .. yes .. could never
have enough .. but raids (in form of inszanced WoW-style raids) .. no thanks.

Seems like every1 nowadays are running around in the same skin. When will anet stop with the money grabbing gems store and start getting serious with the game, before it becomes a baran. How about hurry up with some challenge raid content that actually require knowing the raid position like when to split and when to stack that also involve interrupting bosses skill that can wipe out a entire raid instead of the typically zerg till it drop.
Rewards will be skins that looks better, the higher tier you go.

If you melee the car, wipe, and then melee it again to finish it off, you will still save a lot of time compared to ranging it. So the ledge is fine as it has a punishment for using it (wasted time).

You cant wp back if ppl decide to afk range and wait everyone elses time.

There’s plenty of stuff to do when you hit 80. The reason why it’s difficult to think of what to do is because most of the “endgame” is available pre-80. A-net designed it this way so that it wouldn’t just be a levelling grind/rush to 80.

-Dungeons and dungeon speed clears (most dungeon PUGs will demand 80 anyway)

-Fractals (level 10+ fractals require ascended gear for Agony Resistance… you need to be 80)

-Map completion and exploration (there are level 80 maps after all)

-Achievement hunting (because you won’t be able to complete all available achievements before level 80)

-Living Story and Personal Story (there are level 80 personal story quests and you must be level 80 to do living story now).

-Trait hunting (seeing as some traits come from high level bosses)

-Farming materials for ascended weapons and armour as well as legendaries

-Crafting and maxing your crafting

-Doing dailies and monthlies for laurels (for ascended rings and amulets, particularly)

-Doing guild missions every week for fun and for Guild Commendations (for more ascended stuff) and generally involving yourself in a guild (they usually run their own events and games)

-Farming for gold to buy and to discover particular skins/dyes/outfits to complete your character aesthetic

-WvW and PvP to hone your skill and add variety (if you mainly PvE)

-Levelling an alt (because there’s a lot more to discover by running a different race/professions/order with different story choices and play style)

Fractal is the only place where rng should belong, the element of surprise, where every single fractal is a new challenge. If you cant handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Bad analogy. More like, if you can’t handle the heat, get out of hell. This is more in line with what other people have been saying.

This will probably go over your head, so let me simplify. There’s a huge distinction between what people CAN handle and what people WANT to handle. Anyone on these forums can handle difficult, tedious, challenging e.t.c. But the real question is, why would they WANT to if “FUN” isn’t paired with these attributes?

Who saids is not fun getting blew after by mobs when they die, and besides some would do it for the challenge and other will do it for the reward. Look at it like aetherpath and arah, ppl still run it.

The random element of fractals is already bad enough, wtb that suggestion thread. Choose your fractals, choose your instabilities as “gambit” like things for additional reward, yeah, you know let us choose what and how we want to play and reward what is more difficult, crazy idea I know.

Maybe you just need to get better. They already fix up dredge, and shaman isn’t as hard as when ppl use to do it below the minimum agony resist required. The last thing we need is a walk in the ball park fractal 50 by picking swamp and water with couple of little to no effect instability.

Or I can just not do them because I don’t like some of the fractals and the RNG pretty consistently gives me them rather than the ones I like. My favorite is probably the Fire Shaman btw though I won’t say I’m an expert because again, I hate the design so I’ve never taken the time to master fractals as a whole. Good luck to you and your randomness though if that’s what you enjoy.

you wouldn’t be missed, there are still plenty of ppl willing to do it. Lets look at it before fractal cap, ppl were doin fractal level on 60s and 70s.

It would also defeat the purpose of having so many fractal and instability that nobody uses.
This is why they have fractal level. Poor baby can’t play with the big boy. Maybe you should stick to the lower level since high level shouldn’t be meant for everyone.

well if this is implemented, whoever is left will stop doing fractals and LFG fractal section may as well be used to sell legendaries and stuff. I mean people already stopped doing them so why not remove it entirely by adding more RNG

The problem with the game is that there are too many easy content for ppl to do outside of spamming 1. Balance the reward and u will see more ppl start doin harder content.

Wasn’t the whole point of fractal that as higher up you go, the harder it become. As of right now fractal is pretty much a standstill. 49 is not much harder than 30.

You think 1 random instability is more difficult than choosing to do 3 or 4 instabilities simultaneously? Ok…

Did I mention 1? As I previously mention 2 random for 40-49 and 3 for 50 is much more difficult then picking ur own.

Randomizing it won’t do much if people can just reroll to get the one they want.

Than they would have to restart the whole fractal.
What I mean is for instability to change after each fractal in the same run.

Whats the point of different instability if everyone is gonna take the ez way out by doing fractal with easier instability.
How about we change it up and randomize the instability available up till that fractal level after each fractal.
To kick it up a notch, how about double instability for fractal 40-49 and triple for fractal 50.

Btw what happens to the fire-elemental in thaumanova reactor in metrica? When nothing happens the story is completely pointless from an immersive view.
I mean why should our chars fight that thing when it disappears after 10 mins anyways? (Beside for loot) That goes for maw too somehow.

Well FE used to not have a timer, same with maw, but if u fail FE pre, the inquest would hijack the golem and the npc would be crying for help.

I always wanted to see what happen if u don’t close all the portal in timer, don’t kill all the elite, and don’t kill all his summoner. Due to the events being so easy with it being on mega server, we never get the chance to see what happen if it fails.
Here is what I purposing, we setting a date and time and fill up wayfarer foothill, then leave map to put the map on closing 30min before the meta.

Never never ever ever going to happen.

I will make it happen, if only there was a patch half a hour before maw.
