These are looking a little bit better, but a few concerns:
- Why do some sigils apply there effect on-swap (stagnation, revelation) as opposed to on your next attack after swapping. I think there is more counterplay if these proc on-next attack (aoe around target) as opposed to instantly.
- For sigils that have longer CD’s, is there any idea on how this will work with engie and ele (or warrior with fast hands), who will be 50% less efficient taking these sigils. For instance, something like a ranger can put escape and revelation on one weapon, then greater nullification and something else on the other weapon, and get 4 procs over a 20s period. Ele and engie, meanwhile, would be stuck with just 2 procs. Likewise, other on-swap effects have less control for these two classes.
- Duration sigils should not all be the same duration. 25% longer burn is WAY stronger than 25% longer vulnerability. Similarly, 25% longer bleeds doesn’t do as much for you as 25% longer burns, as burns are applied as a burst condi, while bleeds get built up and cleansed when there is a large stack.
- Purity, cleansing, and escape: This is a LOT of condition cleansing available. It is conceivable to remove up to 4 conditions from a single swap (slotting cleansing + escape) which really helps builds that might struggle with condis (something like druid will put these super-defensive sigils on their “now I just spam defensive evades” weapon set) and hurt condition builds who are already getting some of their free proc-bursts reduced?
It depends what they have in mind for sustain nerfs as I am sure rangers will be affected
- There will be more bunkering and less roamers due to
What meta are you playing in? There are no bunkers in this meta, and there has never been a better time to be a roamer.
What would you call a mender druid, paladin/mender scrapper, mender ele, sage chrono, rabid warrior? These are all bunkers.
Don’t want to be mean, but are you playing in NA bronze?
No I just have standards about what is defined as a “bunker” Bruiser != bunker, but it seems people don’t differentiate the two anymore.
Mender Sw/d + Staff Druid, and scrapper are the only things that are bunkers. Mender Ele is heavy support but that’s not a bunker.
Chrono and Warrior are not bunkers by any means, they don’t function in that role.
But yes my MMR is so low that I get put in matches with Nos, Paul, OE, misc PZ guys, etc.
I said bunkering, not bunkers. Bunkering means sitting on point 24/7 and enrage team fights, as opposed to roaming. And as side note, today’s bruisers are times and times more bunkery than old-fashioned pre-Hot bunkers. Reading is hard.
Not
Even the bruisers you speak of…can’t hold 24/7 vs 2 people like in the past, you must have noticed that even ESL matches now are nothing more than zerg rush from point to point. Effectively anything resembling a point holder vs multiple foes..is dead
(edited by Supreme.3164)
Not too excited because braindead passives are still too strong. Gotta play Mender GS Tiger for the lolz, maybe other pets will work too, which is nice.
Top 10 ranks will loose value from season to season because there won’t be ESL players anymore.
With the recent changes to rewards they completely buried my hopes for this gamemode – not because I play for rewards, but they took away an opportubity to attract new pvpers.
At least they should have fixed decay now. The old system was awful.
Since when do pvpers need ascended armour?
Of course, this is Unranked, where I can farm up 20+ kills and 1-3 deaths… Seems most of the skilled players aren’t really playing anymore….
That’s why this entire thread is bogus and utterly ridiculous …beating a dh in unranked makes the class bad and easy to beat…-_- yeah right.
I faced dh who just run on the point and spam all traps on themselves..with me being several meter away..then I just shoot them down from safe distance….pls..using unranked matches off season is the most absurd argument and it always comes out every off season…only to disappear when ranked starts again and real players come back
Warrior will be op.
Medi Guard varients will be strong (not as op as warrior)
Power reaper will be op
Ele will be stuck in d/f menders for another season
Ranger will probably run menders gs/staff with tiger for burst
Revenant will run ventari until people realize its not meta
Thief will still be top tier roamer
Engi will probably switch to condi builds
Mesmer will still poop out condisThe only thing that has made me angry recently is Anet putting bandaid fixes on ele scepter and offhand dagger without addressing the issues with those weapon sets. They think reducing cooldowns on skills will somehow make the weaponset viable.
The CD reductions were just sprinkle in the eye..nothing more, the weapon set is still useless post HoT and will remain so, they are not baindaid fixes because anet never had intention to change ele in the first place
P.S mender gs/staff tiger?…I doubt anybody with that build would get past silver at most if lucky
P.S : 900+ hrs on ranger, made 2 years ago and left for an while, currently picked up it again ( after losing faith in Anet ability to ever balance ele properly : played ele for 7800 hrs)
-Currently playing power druid : LB-s/w ( favourite build on which I win way more than on meta healing staff bunker)
Actually gave up on ranger before because of cele ele pre June 2015, they then used “druid” to fix many problems of the ranger class
I may be considered biased again and that’s fine and expected..but in no case I should ever be considered a carebear, I will never ask to destroy professions I don’t actually play, I will only always ask to increase by a tad the skill req for certain specs without deleting any of their strengths
(edited by Supreme.3164)
Loaded class with an elite spec line focused on healing, done and done
anet is trying to push damage druid with support spec and ancient seeds carry
makes clarion bond unblockable for no reason
allows Signet of the Wild to be unblockable for an entire season
um am I missing the balance aspect of this?\
people complain about pets and how they carry druid’s damage
anet buffs the ability for smokescale to knock down for no reason
is enforcing a pet damage carry meta
buffs ranger damage
I don’t think you full realize what a ranger supposed to do:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranger_
You see , I ask for nerfs too…but on specific aspects of one build
When I ask to nerf wars, I don’t stupidly ask to nerf war dmg or sustain because obviously they’re wars and they’re supposed to be in the thick of battle doing dmg and they need huge sustain for that; I merely asked to reduce a tad the stability uptime and reduce the range of Arc Slice
When I ask to nerf dh, I realize what the profession supposed to do..yeah it’s a freaking paladin archetype, we’ve got it, he will have dmg and whatsmore.
I simply asked again to add a tad more counterplay to traps and pulls, because the situation becomes unbearable when there are multiple dh on a point.
Now we have ..You.
You complain about ranger pets when :
Anet devs 2014 Balance Philosophy
Ranger: High single target DPS. Long range single target damage – should be the best (mesmer comes second). Sustainability through melee evasion and dodging. Sustained melee AoE.
Weakeness: Dealing with boons on enemies – no boon rip. Lack in stun breakers with some builds but it is intentional since you can evade so much. Reliance on pet for maximum efficiency as pet is factored into your damage output. Your damage will be smaller than other classes due to the pet. Pet have issues against high end PvE encounters since they are more of a hindrance than help. AoE at long ranged but it is a trade off with having highest single target DPS at long range
Anet balance patch 2017
Ranger
The ranger will see a variety of changes during this update. Of particular note, we are reducing Grace of the Land’s damage bonus and reworking it so that it’s compatible with all Celestial Avatar abilities and affects ten allies around the druid. We hope this improves the value of a single druid in large-group scenarios. Many pet attacks have had usability and movement enhancements in an effort to improve general damage against moving targets. The greatsword has had a couple of improvements for better damage and pet synergy. Finally, a few underused (and even some meta) utility skills have undergone general quality-of-life improvements.
Do you understand now?
What you complain about are the trademarks of the class and they’re here to stay till the last day of this game..no matter how long you will waste time complaining about it
You complain about smokescale and bristleback?
-They have low/mediocre AA but a reliable F2 burst that can keep up with moving targets on perma swiftness ( due to HoT powercreep ).
Other pets ( like owl-felines, drakes ) have way higher AA and dmg F2 but they’ve been left to rot for years and only now the dev have started to upgrade them with passion.
Sweet child…pets are supposed to dmg, the core pets you can currently walk away from are the UP ones, recognized by Anet and promptly buffed every patch
My Sweet child..smokescale and bristleback are the pet standards which Anet is aiming for…you should embrace yourself for more buffs on pets
(edited by Supreme.3164)
Have you fought one? I have, its definitely different.
i’ve fought them both. they both heal less, it’s more noticeable on DH.
You heal less..than somebody speccing in healing power?…well colour me surprised, I bet a current dh/berseker still heal for way more than an ele/ranger using same dps amulet, wanna give it a try?
DH is often cried about about being too strong and too easy to use. People also cry about dying to traps and true shots and blah blah blah. DH is a trash class for 1 reason, it’s too simple. I got on my s/f ele after the patch and consistently won 1v1s against many DHs. S/f was designed with intricacy that DH lacks. Just like how people said Rampage was op (when it wasn’t), people say DH is op because you don’t know how to beat it. As the community gets better in play, when the community learns how to play their class to its fullest potential, DH will become meaningless. It needs the cheese it has while it has it because it’d be rendered useless without it.
Honestly…nobody cares that people win their 1v1 in unranked ..in the middle of nowhere. If you’d bother to look over your own misconception, you’d see that people complain about stacking traps on the point.
Winning a random 1v1…means nothing and never meant anything other than fuel pointless “balance” debates
- You’re playing off season against unskilled opponents, full traps lemmings who run mid, spam all traps and die after
- You have no idea what a skilled player is capable of while using a DH…..absolutely no idea, seen a legendary dh holding off 3 people mid ( my team ) with people of or more less the same rating ; he was a mender bunker running some crazy kitten
- It’s one thing playing against dh spamming blocks off CD followed by random swap to bow…and it’s another playing against dh players with tons of patience…it’s like day and night
(edited by Supreme.3164)
Speaking of pvp – anyone tried out birds after the patch?
They still die to a single aoe..don’t bother
Are you guys talking about PvP or PvE? Because in PvP smokescale and bristleback are still the best ones I’m afraid
These builds posted are way too squishy , you will be totalized in any scenario other than pure 1v1 and even then you will struggle to kill anything while saving more than 50% HP in best case scenarios
On a point with stacked dh traps+scrappers spamming hammer 5 and power necro wells/mark or chronomancer shatter or new buffed druid pets….no chance at 100%. You will explode within a fraction of second.
Fought couple of d/d eles after patch…no chance..they explode almost instantly when focused
(edited by Supreme.3164)
For the Alliance! For Azaroth!
You forgot that druids weren’t nerfed either. And they can blast a light field too. They used to be weak to conditions, but they might not quite so much anymore.
They did nerf druids multiple times in the past, nothing can compare to stacked traps on the point, it’s stupid design.
But at the very least a concrete comment is always welcome, better reading comments like this than wasting time reading gibberish
You obviously can’t see the forest from the trees…the message we all got from this patch, impressive to say the least.
- 1vs1 : check
- point control : check
- support when stacked : check
- huge dmg : check
- huge sustain : check
- lack of counterplay or something that requires as much effort: check
- safe ress : check
- CC spam : check
- Condi clear : check
- Massive aoe spam on the godkitten point : check
- Stealth : check
-nothing amiss : check
KK I’m done check!
P.S giving engies even more condi clear with the light field change was obviously the right call , brilliant!
Let’s be honest : healing turret, purification, aoe block, aoe dmg reduction, water fields, insta aoe dmg , attack and defense on the same skills with extremely low CD….how can you call this…game design?
Over 50% of the game is stacked with warriors, guardians and now engies… it takes 2 people to kill one of them that is not entirely terrible…this is just stupid on all possible levels
(edited by Supreme.3164)
I don’t understand the Overload Air nerf for PvE, do they hate D/Wh and Fresh Air Staff builds?
Raid balance, ele covr the TOP 3 positions, that’s why
I played core thief (DA, TR, SA d/p sb) to/in plat on my alt account. Was doing fine i would say, beside my teammates flaming me for using refuge and not having HoT spec. Need to play extremely careful though, as “SA” (omg filters cmon) for example just can’t keep up with condi overload that necros and wars dump on you and you don’t have dodges to deal with DH traps. Chills are real issue. It also becomes very obvious, when you play core, how stupidly broken Hot specs are in mobility department. Druids got RTL on 18 sec CD for example (i wanna see the guy that decided it was good idea to give bunkery point holder long range gapcloser + evade on such short CD), gl getting decaps vs them while not running DD.
To be fair
A s/x – GS ranger can cover way more distance of a druid with staff and on shorter CD:
rotate camera backward sword 2 roll back, rotate front and leap, swap to gs and leap with gs3 = total area covered 2100 range every 12s…and we are talking about core ranger and both sword 2 and gs3 are evades
Just a quick note here for PvE Rangers. Testing out Drake & Wyvern DPS on a stationary golem since the updates due to shorter cast times on skills. Here are the results (averages) with Beastmastery and 25 stacks of vulnerability on the golem. Sharpened Edges, Refined Toxins, and Companion’s Might were not slotted.
Drakes: 573 DPS
Wyverns: 1024 DPS
Felines: 1518 DPSDrakes DPS is abnormally low, it never casts Chomp and doesn’t use Tail Swipe against a target in melee range. Appears to be a bug introduced with the patch. Drakes should be a lot closer if not better than the wyvern if functional.
With that said, Wyverns are in a very good place and may gain the advantage of superior f2 skills in all situations.
I think it’s intentional to keep core pets weak respect to expansion pets…
Well, increased range on Pets is always worth celebrating. For Wyverns, the addition of reduced cast and aftercasts is a huge bonus, but only for PvE instances. Against players, Canines, Birds, and Smokescale are still the top melee oriented pets.
Canines now have competitive melee ranges with Smokescale, holding the second highest auto attack melee range (240) behind birds (300), and a faster Crippling Leap burst with added range.
Also, Birds have had all their damaging moves adjusted to 300 range, which means Owl and Raven F2 bursts are easier to hit on moving opponents since pre-patch the ranges were 130.
Probably more than you might have been looking for, but yeah, the Wyvern improvements won’t help them out when facing other players – and that’s kind of all right (for me). To each their own though, as I’m just happy they are finally effective somewhere.
I actually love the new wyverns, the electric one does good melee dmg given its stats and the on demand knockback is invaluable now
Time to capture both wyverns, never bothered with both…until now ^^
Between reapers, druids, chronomancers etc etc, you get filled up with condis within a second, playing d/d ele in this times and ages..it’s suicide
Condi necro is dead idk what your going on about.
I think you have huge problems of l2p if you can’t do anything on reaper..like are you kidding?
The class has been used by every single esl team- 2/4 of wvw zergs ar made up of reapers…
You complain a lot about necros…but the problem it’s just you
Its obvious they have hardly anybody working on pvp or the game in general really. This patch was garbage. There is no other way to slice it.
Just how many people are working on this new exp?…it seems like it’s ready to ship next week..when it’s min 12 months away
GZ I guess….I had hopes..was stupid once again
The changes to eles are completely meaningless, you just can’t go toe to toe with current HoT powercreep on a d/d ele.
Between reapers, druids, chronomancers etc etc, you get filled up with condis within a second, playing d/d ele in this times and ages..it’s suicide
Hey..if they don’t nerf dh, the direction taken by anet will be clear..I just start to complete my 3rd main then, I can do things on marauder dh… ..never accomplished that level of dmg so easily…teleport in ToF+DM..and even top 250 players fall flat on their face.
It’s extremely easy, all you need to know is the CD of enemy skills and their positioning…then BAM>>KABOM….teleport in use 2 traps, knockback..so kittening easy.
I’m so playing a dh if no nerfs coming, I have literally no counters, I can build to kill/stall anything…simply outstanding
I would like to see you outsustaining anything without Renewed Focus on a marauder LB build. Wanna upload a video of a game you’re playing or hook me up ingame? Kinda curious. Kappa.
Well hes playing ele/tempest, he will rage more when they nerf auras this thursday
Like…are you talking about me?
The only difference between all my mains is the map 100%, I use ele the most as few are willingly to play support..hmm let’s make this guard video..then I want your ele/druid/war videos , let’s see if you have what it takes to actually disagree about my dh statement
Srry but you can’t have mains only main. if you don’t like DH then don’t play it. Ele was 4,5 years meta while dps guard was ignored for many seasons and years. Srry but guard can’t always be cannon foder.
You must have been playing another game or simply like to lie to yourself
Guard has been meta since launch and it left the pvp scene for shorter time than ele banned from pvp for the whole 2014. GW2 has been out for just 4.5 years…so the “many years” that guard was left out are all in your imagination
It’s insulting to even start this discussion, accordingly to you professions should be rotated out and in from this “cannon fodder” role
So when satisfied your personal vendetta, will you leave the game once its guard turn to apparently be the cannon fodder?
I can’t have many mains? What does that even means?
Do you sign a contract when you make a class?…is this the twilight zone?

You try to outsustain others on a marauder build?
When the skill level of a profession get lowered too much, this what happens, the meaning of “marauder build” is lost to the masses

Actually, everything that was introduced with HoT aka elite specs, are overpowered in comparison to core and since 99% of players run elite specs in pvp, it is pretty much safe to say that everything IS overpower.
Anet really needs to nerf elite specs to the point that core specs can compete with them. Elite specs were meant as alternative (devs words) not as straight upgrade.
Alternative don’t sell and elite specs are pretty much upgrades in every MMO you will ever play.
Warrior can take down a mesmer
Necro can take down warrior
Thief can take down a necro
Mesmer can take down a DH, necro, druid and so on
Necro can take down a druid
DH can take down a thief while afk
Druid can take down DH……
Revenant can be there and spectate it all
Vault thief accidentally takes many down
….. It goes on and on endlessly
Elementalist follows the Revenant and cheer for the winner
I opened several threads asking to nerf warrior/dragonhunters, I won’t lie about it ofc.
But I don’t remember ever asking to nerfhammer specific elements of certain classes, I know that certain changes would have dire consequences and would make both classes unplayable
All I ask is to up the level of skill required to perform well on these classes, not to straight out delete their advantages over others.
For example Warrior:
- address “Eternal Champion”
- Arcing slice
That’s all really that need to change : too much stability uptime and too easy to land aoe burst
Guardian:
- Make the pull blockable and reduce change to 600
- Add cast time to Test of Faith
- Wings of Resolve base healing reduced to 2.1k
That’s all really…no carebear balance, just rightful nerf/buff cycle
(edited by Supreme.3164)
A typical example of carebear balance is Diamond Skin.
Yeah yeah I know..I’m biased..but so you are as well so bear with it.
The trait was introduced in the Dec 2014 patch after the dhuum meta explosion and the reason was(still is) ele has no ways to deal with condi bursts that apply several condis at the same time
For the first time ever, ele did not need to slot water trait line, the class had an effective way to deal with condi specs without being forced to use the same traitlines.
That was an increase in build diversity..but that didn’t last. The trait was effectively removed and eles got back to water once again, as the only way to deal with condis……….( not enough by a long shot on its own)…..
I don’t want to go in details about this whole argument, it would take too much time…
Another classical example are nerf threads against Thieves, yeah everybody hates assassins…in every MMO hate assassins and for obvious reasons but…should people enjoying thief be barred from having any fun?
NO! Why should they?
They’re called thieves/rogues/assassin for a reason…people should either deal with itor just quit the MMO genre.
Like the people complaining that longbow ranger does incredible dmg..oh really?! Good thing the class is called Ranger and not sandwichmancer.
Here take a good reading!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranger_
Ranger and Thief are just examples, all other classes should be considered in the same situation, they’re called mesmer, elementalist etc etc because they’re meant to do something specific…so people should really get down from their high horse
Now all this doesn’t mean that Ranger and Thief do not require nerfs/buffs, all professions need nerfs/ buffs at all time..that’s what MMO are for.
But there is a difference between asking to neuter and nerfing/buffing one profession
(edited by Supreme.3164)
A very contradictory title I would say but that’s not the end of it, any profession in this game should not be considered UP and that’s true, I didn’t lie but let me be more specific : every profession in this game can be OP with a min number of changes because they all share the same brainless gameplay as base design
No matter what you play, from elementalist to revenant, all it takes is few changes and your profession suddenly becomes the new FOTM , where each match in PvP will have min 5 of them.
Like in every MMO; every profession will go from a extremely OP phase to a less prominent phase , what will never change it’s the basic brainless gameplay attached to each profession.
I do not believe that is possible or even required to have all professions in the same phase at the exact same time and that’s why nerf/buff threads will always occur.
What should never occur is the creation of hardcounters, they kill all the fun and make the outcome of each fights very predictable.
“Hardcounters” are created when the devs listen to the wrong type of audience, the toxic part of every MMO community, which will be sadly always present.
I refer to this part of the community as carebears; these are individuals who want to achieve victory with the min amount of effort and possibly with no chance of losing that specific encounter.
Carebears normally create threads asking for nerfs, they will never consider the strength and weaknesses of the profession they want to see nerfed…and neither they will consider the plus/cons of their own profession.
They will normally ask for nerfs that will purposely neuter that specific class when dealing with them, by neutering that specific class, making it extremely easy to deal with..all challenge removed.
Whenever there is clash of opinions…the famous " what skill level are you" talk will always follow.
I find it compelling that players in this game firmly believe that a badge can qualify them or not from having an opinion, because in the end that’s all we have here on the forums: a bunch of very opinionated statements
Is this what you’re looking for?
http://imgur.com/a/POLgZ
Reached platinum for the sake of it…stopped soon after, decayed down to bronze as I stopped playing ranked
Legendary? Yes easily reachable, I would have only required to win 100 or so matches, playing in this exact same way:
http://imgur.com/a/yBLtO
Carrying people to victory like a boss..I could have but….nah, I don’t find playing pvp in this game that fun, to put myself through such an ordeal
I play pvp for the sake of it, not for a title or badge or armor…and definitely not for the rights to talk on the forum like you guys believe.
I assume that you lot play pvp , just to get a shiny badge next to your name, then come on the forum, enforcing your opinion as an absolute truth..I find it very amusing.
Now, going back to the original argument:
-There are several ways to deal with power specs and most of these solutions do not require you to have specific stats, traitlines or utilities, leaving you player with loads of possible build options
-Against condi specs , you need to have those specific stats ( high HP for ex) to avoid being killed instantly by a condi burst. You must have those specific traitlines, those specific utilities and what more
The build diversity goes out of the godkitten window because you must add a trillion condi kittening clear to your build to avoid being cheesed out by a random “nob”
You talk about ele: you could use a fire/air/tempest vs power builds and actually kill something..but you can’t, because you need water /earth, only way to survive all the cheese condi bs flying your way
You talk about rangers : you could drop celestial avatar and pick the staff trait to create some nice daze/taunt burst specs but you bloody can’t as you need to clear the condi cheese coming at you every 8s, unblockable BS that trigger 100 different condi traits with a single hit .
The build diversity in this game is gravely affected by overtuned condition dmg and I will never stop complaining about this, no until we get a definite solution
Reached a point of exasperation, every bloody match…..every single bloody match you must dance on a that point filled up with dh traps and warrior longbow aoe fire field.
I pray for rightful nerfs to both these professions…I honestly wonder if once again dh and wars will be left alone
Have you tried… not standing in the AOEs?
Yes..but for some reason the game ends up in defeat, a bug maybe, you should not lose the game if you don’t cap any point
Thief and mesmer stronger counters than warriors?…such outrageous lie
No matter how you try to turn it, you’re simply trying to get rid of the last hardcounters necro has; although the word “hardcounter” I’d say it’s a little out of contest here.
I’d rather say that warrior and ranger offer anti-necro tactics whose application requires the same level of skill needed to play the common " I sit on my marks and spamm staff 1, you get close I F1 5-3 and cheese from there" strategy.
It takes a great thief and mesmer to counter a below average necro sitting his kitten on a bunch of unblockable marks which is considered a viable and skillful tactic by GW2 standards
Ofc you want to see warriors and rangers nerfed…they can easily neutralise your tactics with the same level of effort
What does make you think that necro should not be nerfed also like the rest?
…No..don’t tell me the 1000 reasons why necro should not be nerfed accordingly to your stronger biased opinion, don’t tell me because I can show 2000 reasons why necro should be nerfed.
I have strong interest..a very strong interest in seeing all condi specs brought down considerably, I have 10k ways to deal with power builds…but there is barely a handful of ways to deal with the massive aoe condi spam introduced with HoT and most times than not it’s actually impossible to kill these OP condi specs
This is just a clash of biased opinions, no matter what one may say you’d never agree in seeing necro nerfed as you consider it quit weak….being your main…a biased opinion
The actual warrior is not so much better than the old warrior you played (I’m not an expert but not too much has changed since the seasons you wrote about, unless for the Resistance), the main changes was the nerf of revenant sustain (expecially stability) and the amount of dps builds in this game running lesser stability than before, plus eventually the amount of unblockable hits you can do killing classes like dh, engi and mesmer easier than anyone else (expecially dh).
The warrior hasn’t changed too much but obtained the perfect enviroment to shine. As the necromancer in the past, that was not overpowered but only find an enviroment where was able to shine (until engi and mesmer discovered that a single moa was able to kill a necromancer, or thieves just find that we had not a single defensive skill, making sushi of us all the time…).
The difference between necromancer and warrior is that the warrior have lesser counters and counter more builds/classes than the necromancer had. Also moa is lesser impactful on a warrior than on a necro. A necro lose his access to shroud (and sometimes loses also all his life force, an old bug I think) and without any active/passive defence out of the shroud as a meat shield, he was doomed to eat all the enemy burst and die. A warrior can still flee and when turn back in his form active a defensive skill (shield, endure pain, berserker stance) or just flee away with the Gs skills to safety.
The warrior have the higher burst in this meta, a lot of defensive skills, one of the best movement (movement save more than defensive skills), 15 seconds of condition immunity, can clean 3 conditions every 2.5 seconds, can spam stability and have a lot of Hard CC. Basicly is immune to everything while able to move, stun, hit and kill.
Is the best combination of everything. Is not the only class with all this amount of offensive and defensive things, also engineers and druids can have huge damage, movement (even stealth spam) and survavibility, but they need more skills to be played correctly at high levels or are underestimated (if i had to nerf a class I should chose Druid, but hopefully there’s not so much players able to play it at high levels).
The main problem of the warrior that make him “OP” (still if is killable if you have the chance to wait for 10 seconds, until he turn back to be killable if use all his skills) is the Resistance for 15 seconds while charging of so much the Burst Bar (don’t remember the name). That boon is a huge exageration, like the ele Diamond Skin.
A nerf to Resistance to make you immune to Damaging Conditions only would make the warrior in line with all the other classes. Weakness, Cripple, Immobilize, Chill, fear Vulnerability,………. all things that do a LOT during a fight.
Nerfing Resistance (also making eles able to obtain it back to DS if it got nerfed) will grant to every build the chance to fight him with soft/high CC and debilitating conditions that actually don’t affect him at all.
That also will not be a so huge nerf for the warrior if you look at the amount of condi clean he got (3 condi every 2.5 seconds make him the best class to fight condi classes by defaoult), also because he’s able to remove immobilize with every single Leap skills.
But also will grant a sort of way to counter him with weakness, cripple, immobilize and fear (fear still susceptible to stability, ofcourse)Do that and I’ll consider the Warrior balanced in everything.
This guy…..
“nerf resistance on warrior and nerf druid”…anything left to counter necro condi spam?
Just an assumption, pure speculation so take my opinion for what it is..an opinion
The release of GW2 Heart of Thorn was few months after the release of the first Final Fantasy XIV major expansion : Heavensward in June 2015; now the 2nd major expansion is coming out this year , same month exactly 2 years after first expansion : June 2017 l the release date of “Stormblood”.
I believe that Anet will follow the same production cycle and will release GW2 2nd expansion, later this year October 2017.
One thing though to remember…no announcement yet and that’s quite worrying , we know it’s coming and an an announcement at this point would make sense.
“Stormblood” was announced October last year, that’s 8 months before release. GW2 Heart of Thorn was announced on Jan 2015 and released Oct 2015, again a 8 months difference.
Now what to expect?
A) A surprise announcement within 1 month?
-Knowing how @Mike operates, with caution and care, it’s rather unlikely that this would happen
B) There is really no 2017 expected release for GW2 2nd expansion and that would be sad to say the least.
What are your thoughts?
ele was OP stacked because the support ans healing got exponentially better the more eles you had. the only thing DH gets out of a stack is more traps. sure more traps are annoying af, but it’s really not the same at all. warrior has no benefit to be gained from stacking at all, it just ruins the comp.
sure, you’d argue if these classes don’t stack then how do you lose vs them? we’ll it’s simple, in most solo games no one works together & everyone plays like trash. so in that circumstance a bunch of DH traps will get kills. in short these classes can farm kills against bad comps & poor play.
i would argue that druid is the most effective class to stack currently, especially with the SotW bug.
Ele was nerfed to the ground , deserved nerfs or not…the class was nerfed to the ground.
The amount of hatred it received was not entirely justified seen as people like to play similar concept spec ( ultra versatile) without much regard for the same principles they used to cheer about , few months before HoT launch.
The skill level required to play dh is abysmal , same goes for war with all the stances/pulsating stability and heal burst, I find it amusing how people are happy to play that..when pre-HoT d/d ele was just as cheesy and easy to use
I’d be happy with simply upping the skill level required to perform well on dh and war….I’m not that petty and insensible to ask ele level of nerfs for war and dh.
And about the rest @Choovansky, I hope you will keep your cool head and wise analysis in the future; the time will come when something else will replace current dh and war as apex predators, it may be ele again..or something else.
I hope when that time comes, people won’t go back to the pre-HoT era where you were insulted for simply playing an ele and people were chanting nerfs songs on the forum
Should make a thread about nerfing the op’s main class to see how well he discombobulates. I know if you wana kitten off cynz, you should make a thread asking for thf nerfs.
I main ele, but currently have not been using an ele for the past 3 months
I’d pay you with gold if you can find something else to nerf on ele without straight out deleting it, dunno want to nerf the healbot? by any chance do you lose to an ele in 1vs1?…that’d be an achievement in itself
At low level I can kill a large amount of classes with the DH, but the warrior hard counter me in every way. Stability always up, imunity to conditions (blind for example), CC me to the ground and can pass through my blocks, making me totally unable to fight him (if he’s good).
The DH at low/medium levels is strong and at high level is good but if you go up in ranks you’ll find engi and druids be insanely strong if compared to dragonhunter.
I tried the ranger and it’s hilarious how easy is with a druid kill enemies in 1v1. Immobilize for 5 seconds every 10 seconds, stealth spam, clean conditions easy, heal all the time, the pet inflict an insane amount of damage and if you play dps with the LB you can just do point Blank, Rapidfire and Bristleback F2 and the enemy is imobilized for 5 seconds and basicly die under your burst. Seriously, try it, it’s insane. And it’s only the start of the fight, you have also stealth if the things go wrong, HoT pets inflict insane damage by themselves.
Compared to the DH a good druid is insanely strong, unkillable and grant way better support to the team. Also have much more movement than tha DH.The engi is one of the hardest class to manage but now with the hammer is easier. High direct damage, stealth if you need to flee, immunity skils, moa, a lot of CC, heal and condi clean (need practice with kit combos) and movement.
I can say that the warrior is really strong in this meta and is teh only class able to play in berserker (all the others play marauder) without any problem. or play condition and spam damage. He’s immune to conditions for all the time he need to kill you, spam stability, huge movement skills and a lot of CC and defensive skills.
DH is really dangerous only if stacked. At the start of a fight I always ask to focus the necro first of all and then the enemy DH. The reason is that he have only a single skill to be untouchable, the F3 is strong but in a team fight he can’t protect himself from every directions and a little of teamplay is enough to kill him really fast. Ask your thief to backstab him, he will kill him in two hits. There’s also different unblockable skills in this game, enough to make him in danger. Also, if you have stability the dh can’t do his combo, losing more or less 1/3 of his damage, if not half. Or just dodge his spear of justice, that’s enough to make him waste his combo.
If I had to ask for a nerf I will ask for Druid and Berserker.
The funny part is how similar is the situation of dh to d/d ele of few years ago. Sure there was no HoT and other professions had less sustain than now and there were really just a couple of builds capable of killing d/d eles.
Still in soloq it was hard to use a single d/d ele at high levels also, great when stacked but that was about it….still the level of hate towards the class was mindblowing, insane
It was like the community was hoping ele players would die a horrible death in RL…you could touch the hate, feel it with your hands
Somehow the community wised up after HoT…or maybe is some overly attachments to some specs but anyway I don’t sense that level of hatred and I wonder why:
A) The number of players using dh/war as main or alt …it’s simply staggering
B) Suddenly stacking becomes the main culprit of all problems instead than the class itself…unless it’s elementalist in which case, it’s the class which is the problem
Which option would be?
A lot needs to be done. Playing elementalist at the moment is the most frustrating thing ever. But all classes and competitive game modes (WvW is competitive btw) suffer from the passive builds doing more dps than the active ones, making the gameplay more about builds than skill.
Some skills extremely hard to pull off do little damage in comparison to passive, fast or instant skills that you keep buffing.
“A lot” would be the exact word, too much for a single patch, you should keep your hopes down.
Low health, low dmg on anything but pve glass cannon builds, over reliance on healing power for any kind of sustain…too much to solve…too many patches required.
Nerfing others would do very little, would only give eles a moment of temporary joy
ummm i have the pictures at plat levels of engys and druids hard countering the DH/warrior teams i was on.
Maybe there is a issue when its class stacking which is a match making issue.
You can even see in Helseth and sinds tournament that warrior and DH were not even on most teams.
If anything pray for build diversity, pray for skills never used in PvP to get buffs, pray to dwayna for something positive.
I mean Obindo was in a stalemate in a 1 vs 1 against a ranger running rune of the soldier. I mean alot of people know the counter, the question is are you using it?
Now the problem is apparently just “stacking”….DH is completely balanced…when ele was stacked..the problem was the class and not the stacking, despite people desperately trying to say otherwise.
Did people wise up with years? Was it general hate towards eles and people wanting to see the class being completely neutered?
Reached a point of exasperation, every bloody match…..every single bloody match you must dance on a that point filled up with dh traps and warrior longbow aoe fire field.
I pray for rightful nerfs to both these professions…I honestly wonder if once again dh and wars will be left alone
oh I bet there will be more DH nerfs that I have to deal with, due to kittens not being able to dodge traps that aren’t viable above gold <8’^-)
Yeah let’s dodge traps spammed by 2-3 guards on a point…for every kitten point on the map we can always win by capping our respawn point.
How many ESL tournaments did you win? 20? 40?
I don’t understand how the matchmaking would be more “accurate” if yes win; it will be just profession based instead of account based, or am I missing something?
The idea is that, just because you are a great mesmer, doesn’t mean you know how to play a revenant well. If the professions were locked we could place you into a match that reflects your skill with that class.
There are multiple reasons why people vote YES, in the end of the day I really feel the devs are being too “democratic” about some changes. What you propose would benefit the whole pvp scene in the long run, it would be a first step.
Those who vote NO are here to manipulate matches, abuse other players by playing ALT class on which they have no much experience, they are here to STACK certain professions and create snowball matches
The attitude of devs is truly praiseworthy…but I can’t help to wish that the changes would have been applied without asking the authorisation of a biased community
Guess we are heading towards another season of stacked dh and wars, maybe having matches with 10 dh will be fun to watch
