After 15 hours of non-stop farming the new bosses and finally getting the third box my new armor set is complete Love the title and the set (esp the light one on female) Here is a picture! How nice to finally earn an armor in game via a mixture of skill, cooperation and let’s admit it quite a bit of RNG I’ll see how heavy etc looks on my other toons and maybe post them later as well…

I think they need to work on getting the process of making a Legendary more… legendary… first.

After that then put in new ones.

That is exactly what I was trying to explain in the OP. With the new mechanics at play in Season 2, I believe getting new legendaries will be tied more to legendary endeavors and less to TP flipping prowess.

I will challenge Anet directly right here and make a bold prediction with 100% certainty that we are getting new legendaries with Season 2. Here is my list of reasons for being so confident:

1. It’s about time! We’ve all enjoyed working towards and crafting one or more legendaries by now, saw other players wielding them and especially with the wardrobe system these skins have become less of a novelty. (Although don’t get me wrong we do have access to the most visually creative skins in the MMO market) It’s been close to 2 years so it makes sense for Anet to give people new stuff to work towards.

2. It’s been a common complaint that legendaries were largely disconnected with skill or any kind of accomplishment to be proud of. They could be acquired from TP or by just farming mats over time or even if you are rich in RL with a credit card. Season 2 presents the 1st real opportunity to link Legendary crafting to skills or accomplishments. As with the journal announcement, LS will have challenges for skilled players with “material rewards” at the end. What if these were Legendary components? What if the next legendary you have will have people appreciate the feats you have accomplished in the game instead of a lucky TP investment (I’m looking at you Silk Scraps)

3. Ability to time gate the Legendary Creation process. Anet has gotten a taste of time gated crafting, it creates a reason for people to do some daily crafting to get their hands on some sweet gear. In the LA storyline we’ve seen Anet time gate the back piece with content progression. You could only make the back pieces colored if you checked back and played the next episode. I’m sure this is the path Anet will take with Legendaries so that players will be motivated to come back for each episode to further their progress for them.

4. One year ago it was already promised that we would get more legendary weapons but then this was postponed saying “We needed to implement new things” (don’t remember the exact words) With new map(maps?) being rolled in, we will undoubtedly have new mats (and tokens?) to collect, new rare drops from end bosses etc. The new legendaries need to be crafted from these new materials so that they wouldn’t pop on TP two days after they are introduced… Once again these materials may be linked to content that will challenge the players so the end result is worthy of more respect by other players.

5. If new legendaries will require new precursors, it would make sense that they start appearing with season 2. We venture out to new lands so we encounter new weapons etc. If armors are introduced, the RP way of explaining their sudden appearance may be linked to the new challenges that lie ahead of us.

6. A big appeal of GW2 for many players I talk with are legendaries at the end of the day. The sense I get from all of them is that they would be delighted with new legendary armors (with stat switching) and even more so with weapons (because it would present an alternative skin to the current ones, some of which don’t suit people’s tastes) It makes good business sense for anet to give these players what they crave.

7. Anet has had enough time to come with cool new concepts for legendaries. Complain about rainbows and unicorns, you still need to accept that GW2 has done more for legendary weapons than any other game combined, auras, footsteps, trails etc. are all major innovations. In 2 years, I am betting that right now there are shiny new designs already in development or even being tested. I think we’ll get to hear about them pretty soon!

8. Precursor quests, hunts etc were all postponed for some reasons that Anet really didn’t go into. They said they needed to introduce some new dynamics to make them meaningful etc. We already know that with the new Journal system we are getting them. What better time to introduce the old and if they are needed new precursor quests with these new systems? You achieve something remarkable that few can dream of doing (think hardness level= Liadri x 10) and you get a quest to hunt for your precursor etc.

9. We got Legendaries, ascended gear etc. for Season 1. A whole new season which will be equal to tons of new content (added together= almost an expansion) makes it necessary to give players just as exciting new rewards to work towards.. Gem store skins or some exotic new skins will be disappointing vs what we got in Season 1.

Well that’s all the reasons I have for now but I think it supports my original assessment that we’ll get to craft new legendaries with the upcoming season. So I challenge you Anet, am I wrong in thinking so? I’ll accept your silence as acceptance that I am correct!

I’ll just explain you guys something about code. What we actually call a “bug” is a line of code doing something exactly as it is meant to. Unfortunately it may not be doing what you want it to. In this case, a slight oversight probably lead to a wrong calculation of reward eligibility for some people. So they had to spend a considerable time finding the correct values. It happens and you wouldn’t like it either if an angry mob appeared on your doorstep after a simple mistake. Coders need to work with a clear mind to function not under stress or fear. So chill and actually practice some empathy for once. They made a sweet gesture as well so it’s time to stop the angry mob antiques…

Guys, the compensation which I am guessing will be extra tickets will make it worth the wait! You’ll maybe get 2 shinies instead of one or for servers who would normally get 0 would get 1 as well… That’s what I am guessing/hoping that they’ll add 100 tickets or so more to everyone… Let’s wait and see…

The big point you are missing is that the rewards were to be available last tuesday. It is now seven days later. Not only is the issue not fixed, but there is also pathetically low communication and no ETA.

And your response to the frustration about the indefinite delay on content you hyped and sold for months and that people worked to get for nine weeks? Is to say the community is being unfair to the poor developers who have lives on weekends.

It used to be, than when a company effed up on its deliverables, there WERE NO LIVES until their eff up was solved and fixed. That’s how people developed loyalty to a company or brand. Every day a company failed its delivery promise to the customer was another update to the community describing EXACTLY where they were in the process of fixing it, even if the news wasn’t great (i.e. we’re struggling to identify the problem, here’s what we’ve been doing today….)

YOU broke it, YOU put your barbeque on hold and fix it. YOU gave us a delivery date. YOU ought provide daily summaries of the updates to fix your failed delivery promise.

If software gaming companies functioned more like this, I would be oh so much less upset about delays and problems. I cannot understand for the life of me why MMO developers cannot get this through their heads. I logged into the forums several days this week just to see if their was an update. I was much more willing to be patient if the issue was hard to fix. What has gotten me more and more furious is (a) the lack of communication and then (b) the smarmy, snide response to the outrage over lack of timely updates with the whole “sorry, but we have lives” tripe.

Well, lately the almighty Ubisoft released a garbage on PC called Watch Dogs and oh boy it literally doesn’t work even on a machine from Nasa or Pixar… And 2 weeks not even a single patch or acknowledgement from Ubisoft that they are working on it. Now I really would also like an ETA on this but anet is hardly the 1st company failing to deliver fixes timely. On another note, I believe they would gladly give an eta on when the rewards would be delivered if they knew, which is definitely worrisome…

Guys, I’ve personally had many of my customer service issues handled very quickly and in a very friendly manner even during the weekends.. Trust me when I say that there is a mishap going on that is deeper than it seems and I don’t think it’s an issue of some staff staying over the weekend to solve it. Yes, they missed something. Yes, it’s a blunder that needs fixing. But obviously the solution is not as simple as fixing a comma misplaced in code. From my experience as I posted before there seems to be a problem with the database and how people’s eligibility for the rewards were recorded. Let them sort it out, I’m 100% sure as I posted in another thread that Anet will make up for their mistake and make everyone happy by providing some sort of extra reinbursement… Just for the time being, let it go and I’m confident the wait will be worth it… And Anet, if you’re reading this post, people would NOT be complaining so much if they weren’t passionate about the game and rewards.. Please consider an extra 100-150 tickets per person as a nice gesture to the player base.. I can’t wait to get my axe skin btw

I’m pretty sure the “bug” has already been found, yet (being a developer myself) I am guessing the issue atm is most possibly that some data has not been recorded in the database.

ie. the people who didn’t get their tickets didn’t get them because their eligibility for these rewards has not been tracked properly. This is the reason for the delay. They need to find a way to retrieve players’ activities and if they deserve getting tickets and how many from a data they do not have.

This will require some creative problem solving and back log digging… I wish the team all the luck in the world if so is the case… It’s a whole mess to sort through, sometimes even manually…

We pretty much already know who gonna win in this structure: One of the top 3.

All other servers don’t have even a reason to show up.

See I don’t necessarily agree with this. In world cups, we see again and again surprise teams making their way to the top and sometimes even winning. The stakes and the excitement of getting to the next stage make people perform beyond their usual. I am sure of course the top realms will be forces to be reckoned with but it doesn’t mean the others will throw the towel.

The league system actually cause this early onset of fatigue with the end results becoming clear very early on. In a cup, anything can happen any time. People can rally their realms to perform beyond expectations..

In any case my 2c.

Hello guys, I’m pretty sure this has been brought up before but I cannot even imagine how exciting it would be to have a WvW cup with elimination groups, quarter finals, semi finals and one glorious final match… It would mean all realms would put in their best efforts in cutthroat matches. It would be a game changer in my opinion. The ones eliminated by being last in the finals can still compete for best placement amongst themselves etc.

We have 27 realms in Europe, 24 in USA, more than enough teams to construct a Regional Cup. With the World Cup coming up, we could have our own cup in Tyria Winners can even get a cup finisher that they can display…

What would you say to such an approach to the upcoming season?

Have you seen the official post about congratulating servers that won?
That Sylvari with 2 mistforged hero weapons… Or 600 tickets, you know.
And no – normal hero weapons do not have that white glow, sadly.
So… kitten move, anet? Not only teasing us, but making it unachievable for everyone to actually run double mistforged weapons… You know.
So I suppose giving everyone an extra 100 is a great idea.

The one with the sword and shield right? Yea I thought the same when I saw that picture lol… I expect anet to make a nice gesture to be honest… Here is to hoping…

Edit: A couple of days I had suggested this and the wonderful peops at anet listened or maybe they were already planning to ofc who knows… But in any case I’d like to thank them for this kind gesture!

Dear anet, when you resolve the problems please consider giving everyone +100/150 tickets extra… This will allow:

1. Everyone to get at least 1 shiny mistforged weapon.
2. The winners can get 2 of them (so you reward winners more)
3. The waiting period will be worth it
4. There are many weapons people want and it will still take a lot of seasons to get them all so this generosity will not cost you anything
5. You will get everyone in better spirits and invested before the start of new WvW season / LS season 2 etc

Please consider this as my humble advice…

The reason why ANet won’t do anything about flippers hijacking markets is because it benefits them greatly to see these higher prices. Remember that gold as a currency is tied to gems which can be purchased for real money. They hope to drive new players into purchasing gold in order to catch up which is exactly why they keep on nerfing popular farm spots.

Unfortunately this short-sighted greed is having an extremely negative effect on the game as a whole. Short of getting extraordinarily lucky a new player will have no way to ever compete on the market. They’re strangling their own game trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of it.

I don’t agree. The best result for the game and therefor the best result for ArenaNet is for the markets to work as efficiently as possible (usually). Fortunately, the nature of the trading post provides a lot of natural force for markets to work efficiently. While nothing is 100% perfect, the large majority of every part of the game’s economy runs incredibly efficiently and we put a lot of effort into making sure that they remain that way.

I wish one gaming company online would have the courage to say “We don’t want an economy, we won’t foster greed in the players. We won’t be a part of this downward spiral of the human condition. We care about creating a world to visit and journey through. A world of what could be, not reflecting what is. A world where there is a uniting force, a unified goal, bringing all the different facets of all that is good and laudable in those walking it’s imaginary streets.” I guess I truly live in a fantasy world, since it seems the reality is, greed and avarice are all that matters to gaming companies today. It is no longer an art form, a form of expression and experience. It’s just another revenue stream, that has no redeeming effect and no positive influence. Guild wars 1, was a wonderful world. While there are glimpses of it in Guild Wars 2, sadly they are far and few between. Greed is the underlying factor, it motivates every step in the game, it drives every story, and infests every journey. It is to weep.. Too bad the BLTC made it through the LA attack. I wouldn’t have missed it at all.

PLEASE PLEASE play “To The Moon” You will thank me a million times.. If you haven’t yet that is…

On the other side, anet did put some nice content where we joined forces to do honorable things.. One thing that immediately comes to my mind is when we rescued civilians from the horrors of war…

Just go S/F, I killed all bosses like that starting from beginning and ending with Liadri 2 hours later. Liadri taking the last 1.5 hours of course Ice bow and FGS really helps esp with that fight.

The fundamental issue here is this:
GW2 is increasingly becoming a game where “rewards” are awarded to the extremely lucky and/or wealthy people. Heck, even if you do the content that needs coordination and a bit of skill you still need tons of luck to attain the prestige items..

On another note however I think anet is working on this. The reward paths in pvp are a step in the right direction, a mix of rng and persistence to get unique rewards is a perfect way to go in my opinion.

Same could have been implemented with CoL perhaps. It would still allow the lucky and rich to get their hands on it early while people who worked hard to get a drop would also eventually get one. Hence it would be still “rare” and “precious” but not impossible to get to for the unlucky people who have a more limited time to play or don’t know how to play the tp

Tolunart but do you see what’s happening in this case, and the way it goes in many other cases with rare and valuable items? The wealthy traders, limiting supply, bloating the prices and constantly pushing the inflation constantly beyond the means of a significant majority of the population.. It is literally vicious capitalism at work, making the game more and more intimidating for especially new and returning players…

Is it really as rare as it seems?

Dear anet and fellow players, I know there is already a bunch of threads on CoL back piece, but I wanted to let people know what is going on exactly with Chaos of Lyssa at the moment… (through my own experience)

I realized for weeks now that there are always buy orders for 1500-1600k and sell orders for 2.2K or more… Perfect margin for rich flipper(s)

I had a belief that perhaps the back pieces were not “as rare” as presumed and some rich trader(s) were literally vacuuming whatever is on the market as soon as one dropped to sell (very few at a time) for an incredible profit to other rich players..

So I went ahead and placed an order 4 days ago for 1.5K and within half an hour it got fulfilled. I was kinda thrilled and dismayed at the same time because that was literally all my money and if anet patched the drop rates I would have lost all my savings.

Anyway I placed it back on sale, true flipper style, for 2.5K… At the time there was one for 3K (so I thought it was a more reasonable price) Within a minute, 2 others popped up. The perfect message from the “big boys” to stay away from the market basically. Panicking that a patch would arrive and I would lose all my gold, I relisted and sold it in a couple of days, making only like a 100g in the process. (promising myself never to do such a trade ever again)

Actual flip profit from 1500g to 2500g that is happening these days is 625g!

1 or 2 is being sold everyday at these prices and more are getting fulfilled via buy orders by a person(people?) who stockpile the recipes for later sales.

I’ll get to the point. Perceived rarity of these sort of resellable items at the moment are causing these pro traders to exploit the market badly. They list buy orders at a nice price to lure in people who got a legitimate drop and hoard them for sale at insane prices. This puts desirable items like this way out of reach of a large portion of the player base. Inflating the prices by crippling the natural suppy and causing a perception of extreme rarity (even beyond the drop rates)

Maybe just maybe these kind of drops should be account bound… I don’t know what can be done about people who completely exploit the situation for their own benefit and ruin the experience for players whose only fault is that they don’t know how the market works. Or the rate and methods of getting these items can be increased so the situation no longer rewards these kinds of economy manipulations.

Just felt I had to share what I know about what’s going on so maybe Anet can use this info for resolving the entire issue around the Chaos of Lyssa.

I have a simple suggestion which I honestly don’t know if it was discussed before (and if it was discussed a billion times already I’m truly sorry about it)

What about the structures you hold without losing becoming more and more valuable over time with regards to the points they generate for your server? Gradually of course and nothing that would make an astronomical difference.

This IMHO would lead to a more “true warfare” where defending your assets are as valuable as just “flipping” stuff more quickly and better.

Again I’m sorry if this has been discussed but would love to hear your opinions about it.

So when will S2 Living World come ?

The Assault knights were intended to be a fight that players had to split up and fight at the same time, it is one of the issues we are currently looking at. The Scarlet Holo fight begins 5 minutes after the first Knight’s death; originally, this was not an issue because a map divided into groups of three would take down the Knights within 5 minutes of each other. However, with recent player tactic changes…

…for the time being, I encourage you to encourage your fellow players to wait to kill the first Knight until a time where the other two Knights are closer to death.

Not to be glib, but as a long time D&D GM, this is a page out of Encounter Design 101:

“A player alone is merely creative. Players working together are devious and WILL break your encoutner.”

Believe me, I welcome the changes in the LS encounters that are forcing people to think and be strategic, but the PvE meta does not lend itself to that. To wit, leveling from 1-80, running dungeons, and the QD & FSG champ trains all encourage “stack and spank”. As a QA team, you had to have considered that given the carrot of a potential 15 champ bags that folks were going to find a way to get credit for all three.

I wish you the best of luck and success in coming up to a quick and fair solution to this.

For a limited time event, looting 15 champ bags PER HOUR is not a huge deal… Don’t give them ideas to even take this away… This is the finale of season 1, they need to be generous a little bit…

No More Tricks, Scarlet

  • This achievement requires a good deal of skill and awareness, make sure you are watching for the red telegraphs that show where the Holograms will fire next and make sure you do not run through any active scorch marks during the fight, good luck!

The main problem with this achievement, afaik, is that sometimes you’re ported to Breachmaker when the fight is already ongoing, and instantly die due to spawning on “scorch mark”, so achievement fails from the very beginning.

That was another think I meant to mention, thank you for reminding me, Nighthawk. The Assault knights were intended to be a fight that players had to split up and fight at the same time, it is one of the issues we are currently looking at. The Scarlet Holo fight begins 5 minutes after the first Knight’s death; originally, this was not an issue because a map divided into groups of three would take down the Knights within 5 minutes of each other. However, with recent player tactic changes, the first Knight is dying as much as 10 minutes before players get up to the Breachmaker, meaning that you will portal up into an active fight, possibly die before you load in, and you can lose time on the Scarlet Holo Fight timer. We are working on ways to make sure that players will have much less risk to portal up to an in progress fight.

For the time being, I encourage you to encourage your fellow players to wait to kill the first Knight until a time where the other two Knights are closer to death. If you can get the Prime attunement in under 5 minutes from the first Assault Knight’s death, you will portal up to a grace period and you will have some time to load in and prepare yourself before the Prime Hologram begins her onslaught. Again, it is an issue we are aware of and should improve with the Assault Knight fixes.

I just want to point this out, part of the reason servers started killing the bosses 1 at a time is because of the extra loot, and with many people getting many if not all of the achievements done I don’t see people wanting to continue the event after all the bugs, crashes, etc that are happening if we will only be able to get the champ boxes from 1 knight(if you make it harder to zerg them down 1 by 1).

Edit: Although I say this…I have a feeling I will continue to do this event every so often because it is by far my favorite “open world” event that has been put into the game so far. It seems to be in the right place between needing 100+ people on a mumble server to even attempt to do it and 100 people just pressing the 1 key and afking. The first thing I said to my guildies was “IT HAS MECHANICS AWESOME!”.

I really hope that your suggestion is not taken into account, if I help kill 3 of them, I want loot from all 3… This will ruin a completely viable strategy…

It’ll be fixed tonight I am thinking… Anet sometimes has a weird habit of not acknowledging that they are working on a fix (perhaps the reason being that this is a loot issue and they are being extra careful not to mess up loot systems all over the game as that may be catastrophic)

The fact that nobody from anet has bothered to acknowledge this problem is really really sad… This bug caused massive market upset as well and uncertainty of drop rates is bad for the player base… I was waiting till they dropped to a reasonable level before purchasing some and now they are beyond reach… Some clever rich guys completely cleaned the stocks when they noticed the problem. GG Anet GG… Yes I want compensation as well, no loot 10s of kills because we’re trying the 6 min ach on deso…

Given you do enough dps, the problem seems to be this:

One time per day per server (I’ve verified this multiple times. I got 3 first run on main, none 2nd time on main, switched to overflow and got more)
