Update: Spending the money on a ram, running supplies and then taking down a gate by yourself with the hopes that not a single member of the opposite server sees you for about thirty minutes or so, doesn’t work. Neither does trying to build a group without being commander.
I support Katz’s idea.
It’s like the whole of AG aren’t even trying… We used to do well despite being outnumbered at times, being forced to play smart, but the last couple of days have been ridiculous.
We have some of the best commanders, but with nothing to command. We clearly don’t belong in our current tier, despite disproving that in previous weeks.
@Zolihan: Thanks for the info. My server should be moving into the lower tier next rotation, so hopefully that would give me an opportunity to get it.
@Rifter: With my situation I can at least wait to move up or down in tiers as explained by Zolihan, but you are pretty much screwed.. Hope it all works out in the near future.
Hello all you wonderful people.
I have been having a tough time getting my 100% map completion. The only things I need are two POI and two Vista. Problem is they are in Eternal Battleground in WvW and our server (Aurora Glade EU) haven’t been green yet in order for me to get them.
At first I thought I should wait it out, but it has been weeks.
Are rotations random? Will my server eventually get to be green?
Thanks in advance.
Just to contribute:
From launch until said patch I used to get about 3 – 5 a day, mostly from harvesting plants.
Now it’s about 1 or 2 a week, mostly from WvW.
Literally what Rifter said. I weren’t as unlucky as you guys, but there was a noticable decline in my luck with my Warrior. Created a thief alt and played him for a month. Went back to warrior and got four exotics in one day, one was the dagger in WvW and the other three was from two CoF runs. Now, a month later again and I am lucky if I get a green from CoF.
I heard about such a site but could not remember the path. And thank you for the swift response! I really appreciate that.
Hi everyone.
So one of the components of the Legendary I am chasing requires 500 CoE tokens to purchase. Problem is it is always contested and I am literally the only person in Mount Maelstrom with the intention of actually doing that dungeon.
After about a week I had no choice but seek help. Where does one find a group for these unpopular dungeons?
It’s in Lion’s Arch, and has been discussed many a time. Still no clarity on what it is. :P
Blazeridge Steps – Top of the map, in that dark’ish area between the two vistas.
Sparkfly Fen – Bottom Left of the map, by the broken ships.
Frostgorge Sound – Top Right of the map, East of Slough of Despond Waypoint.
I have taken about ten times more screenshots in the few months since Guild Wars 2 released than I took in WoW over the course of four years. Tyria is gorgeous.
I am using Deep Strike and have all Signets active, no issues. It must be something else.
Its too easy to make gold in this game.
Message me your secret and I shall call you master.
I never really thought about it. Meh there are so many other great things that make Guild Wars 2 stand out as the number one MMO (in my opinion) that I never even noticed the smaller bonuses.
Actually, this authentication system helps me sleep at night.
They want you to explore all aspects of the game. When you’re done with your daily, go run a dungeon or join some WvW.
You sure?
I thought arenanet said
" You should do what you like to do and not be forced to do something just cause its rewarding"
I said they WANT, which is quite often the opposite of what they SAID ahem veteran drops ughem. :P
I would love for them to perhaps add Three Tiers of the daily, each tier increasing in difficulty. Perhaps an increase in reward as well. But let’s be honest here: 10 Laurels for Monthly which requires quite the event participation and salvages, I don’t think they’re too keen on giving these away.

Last night I was completing Queensdale with my fully geared Norn Warrior.
As any player in a similar situation does, I felt like a god as I moved through the world slaying everything in front of me while a couple of followers try to tag an enemy before it perishes. They must think I’m so cool. Long story short, I fell off a cliff and died and was too embarrassed to return.
Once you get to Orr would be my 2c.
They kind of do themselves? Although at the end of the night I sometimes have to zone to find and kill those extra six or seven variants of mobs.
@Preyar
Is it at a fixed location or general area?
Also, I received two infraction points for posting “false and misleading information” in my original post. So apologies for whatever part of it is untrue, I was probably seeing things.
Tosha: How do you feel about the loot they drop? Could this be the pre-curser scavenger hunt ArenaNet has been talking about?
The reason I think so is because encountering them is so extremely random and rare, or am I doing it wrong?
Anyone else spot these loot goblins ,similar to the one’s in Diablo 3?
They seem to sometimes spawn when you open a chest in the open world, and then run away dropping loot as you hit them. Problem is they run faster than you, so I only managed to kill one of the two I have come across over the last couple of weeks.
The loot dropped is fantastic. Is this new?

@plasmacutter ; @Mercypsy ; @Rezo
Could be that I am just lucky, but I have been seeing these drops for consecutive weeks now. The crafting material I get from bags has been sufficient enough for me to level all crafting professions without the need to buy anything (except for Chef).
Only twice have I truly felt like something is wrong:
*When I salvaged about a dozen rares one after the other – From the seventh salvage I stopped getting ectos. Not a single one.
*When I stayed at the entrance of CoF for a week, logging in every night, do path 1 and 2 and then quit. After about three or so days I got nothing but greys, even from the event outside.
Assuming it to be DR, I started to explore some already done zones while I wait for my guild to get ready for a dungeon run, this fixed the assumed DR and drops went back to ‘lucky’.
A couple of things I tend to do that seems to increase droprates:
*If I am looking for rares rather than dungeon tokens, I do dungeons in story mode.
*Use Magic Find food, even if it is only 10%.
*Change zones every now and then, I realized this when I was in Orr and got frustrated at mobs somehow finding me when I afk to get something to drink or visit the bathroom, so instead of going to a safe spot I would travel to Lion’s Arch and then quickly do some TP stuff while there. Then when I travel back I would usually get one or two rares within 30 minutes of playing.
*Group up within the guild, even if you’re in different zones.
*If you’re in an area where you can pull 5+ mobs at a time and are able to kill them, do it.
*Best drops are usually within the first few mobs you kill when logging in, zoning or crafting (or just afk for a bit).
*Events in lower level zones often drop rares. There’s this one event in Bloodtide Coast that I have stumbled upon three times, and I got a rare at the final part of the event all three times.
*Certain mobs drop quality items more often than others.
In my experience, mobs that drop quality items more often would be:
Centaur, Dredge, Ettin, Skritt, Grawl, Harpy, Moa, Goat, Insects (dyes), All Human Enemies (not ghosts) and Krait & Spiders (only when they’re in groups).
Some of you seem really down.. I am sorry you guys are having such bad luck.
I also weren’t too happy with the drops while leveling my main from 1 – 80.
Constant paranoia about DR almost made me put down the game for good. Then one of my friends purchased the game so I decided to run around with him while he levels.
Since I was going to lower level zones, I made sure I got nice magic find accessories, magic find runes (Traveler/Noble), magic find sigil and magic find food. And so came the most fun I had in this game.
I spent only two nights running around with him. I realized the frequency of greens and bags were much better than when I first visited the area, so I wanted to go test it around the world.
It was incredible, for the first time I saw Lodestones and Exotics drop. I even had one Exotic (level 80) drop from a Moa that I accidentally pulled with my AoE damage in a level 35 zone (yet I’ve seen claims they don’t drop in lower areas). I also bag the odd Exotic from dungeons, which I never had before changing my gear.
One very important note though: Drops are noticeably worse without the MF food. It is so bad, that after killing a couple of mobs and checking the drops I can actually tell that the effect from the food has worn off (should I forget to keep an eye on the buffs).
It’s the profanity filter, and I think it’s kitten awesome!
The best AoE in my opinion would be the Elementalist, but it’s not a class I personally enjoy.
I played my Warrior since launch, which is quite similar to the Guardian in a few ways, and I loved it. When I felt it was time for an alt I went Thief and it is ridiculous how much fun I am having. No seriously, it should be illegal to enjoy anything as much. Give it a try, you’ll understand.
Since launch, I didn’t have any plan on what I was going to do when I logged in, and as a result the drops were fantastic. Then for the past two weeks or so I’ve been logging in, doing about four runs of COF and logging out.
The first three nights were great, got an exotic from the chest along with some rares and many cores/lodestones.
From night 4 until night 10 though, nothing but junk, with the exception of blues from chests. I literally didn’t have to travel to my bank once, I just traveled to the vendor and sold all the junk and returned for another run.
So a little annoyed by this I travel to LA last night to use my Black Lion Salvage Kit on them rares. I got a total of 1 Ectoplasm from about 10 rares. Now while I realize this could just be bad luck with the RNG, I do find it highly unlikely since I have been working on a solid 1 Ectoplasm per rare thing.
Not seeing anything drop fro nearly 40 hours of gameplay was a little heartbreaking, so I logged off and created a new character. You guys might not believe this, but I had DYES drop again, and not just one or two! It’s ridiculous how excited I got over tose dyes dropping, but it’s been quite some time since I had ANY drop on my main so that was quite refreshing. I guess I will level this character now for a couple of days and go back to my main and see if I can see any change.
I cannot answer this, but if you ask a friend to create or log in with either a Charr or Norn, you can log in with the opposite and buy you each a cheap greatsword that shares the same skin and meet up and compare.
Each time you die one piece of armor will become orange. This means it is only half broken. It will remain this way until repaired. Once all pieces of armor is orange, the next time you die one will become red. It is now broken and you will lose it’s visual effect.
You also lose money if you die in certain areas without a free waypoint, which means you will have to pay to revive, the same amount you will pay to simply travel to that waypoint.
For some reason I am really enjoying some of the dungeons, and the gold earned from doing them is great.
I have also had some great luck in Cursed Shore.
But to be honest, if I want a fixed income I will do some dungeons, but I have made great money completing a level 30 map (where I got a nice level 80 exotic drop and many rares), so find something you like and just do that.
It is very possible to solo Orr, but you will be moving slowly. Regardless, Orr is great fun when filled with other players, and picturing your situation brings a tear to my eye.
My advice would be to wait for Wintersday to end in about 10 days time. Reason a lot of Orr regulars (myself included) haven’t been there recently is because the Wintersday event reaches all corners of Tyria except for Orr.
Explore the other zones so long, or try a dungeon or two. Good luck!
Warrior is great! Nice damage, and a sufficient amount of crowd control abilities as well as traits that fit perfectly into the hit, dodge, hit, dodge play style.
However, my friend who plays alongside me plays a Guardian. His abilities look great, do fantastic damage and while I am doing my best to avoid getting hit, rolling around on the floor like someone who just got hit by the fury of a thousand taser guns, he just stands there spamming guild chat while he auto attacks everything to death.
Both wear heavy armor.
Nobody who is actually making money will just give away their secrets, but I will leave you with three tips:
1. Trade everything Christmas related as you get it. Those boxes traded at 5 Silver a piece earlier yesterday, and ended up under 3 Silver by the time I went to bed. Same goes for the socks etc. which was selling at nearly 2 Silver at one point. I also sold my 250 stack of glue from doing Tixx which sold for almost 1 Gold. This will probably only last another day or two.
2. Certain ‘things’ will go up in value during the Wintersday event since people will be so busy throwing snowballs at each other that nobody will be doing certain content that produces said ‘things’. I expect a steady incline, followed by a steady decline until the prices are back to normal, so swinging at peak won’t be too difficult.
3. I have seen certain items spike, like Mystic Coins for example (from 1.5 Silver to nearly 10 Silver), and I really couldn’t see why. Don’t ever think other players think or play like you.
I have been playing since launch, and I am yet to even open the interface for the Mystic Forge. Thus far I had no need for it.
I know the odds are against me when using it, so at the moment I am better off just selling my rares for a fixed few silver than risking a loss with the Mystic Forge. And I do need them silvers.
You will need 7 runes if you want to have the six piece bonus both on land and under water.
Although, I haven’t tested this with such a high number of runes, only with the minor runes.
I haven’t had this much fun since Tortage (Age of Conan). The only difference being Tortage lasted a weekend where thus far, I’ve logged a month of Guild Wars 2 and still having a blast.
I’d say I already got my money’s worth, and there is still so much I want to accomplish.
As for GOTY. While you feel GW2 deserves this title other gamers might feel the same way about their current favorite title. Nobody’s wrong, since both parties really do feel their selection is better than the opposition. Personally, I would just give it to Skyrim again! :P
But I would like to suggest that AN put a DR indicator.
This is brilliant. Would you please repeat that in the suggestions forum?
EDIT: What is the best way to know when you’re under the influence of DR?
(edited by Tajmo.1836)
It always happens. Within a few days they will hop to Pandaland. When the first Guild Wars 2 expansion launches they will be back. Two days after the expansion the will rant yet again “THAT’S IT?”. Never satisfied.
I have learned that going to ‘newbie’ areas does feel tedious on my higher level character. Creating an alt, even though I’ve always been a one character guy, really made it a fun experience since the combat doesn’t feel dull compared to my higher level character, and loot such as resources and dyes can be used by my higher level character. It’s a win win win situation.
Yeah I’m broke, but I am totally okay with it.
What will you do if you were given unlimited gold right now? Not only will you skip out on the experience and sense of achievement, but you will instantly get everything you’ve always wanted and then rush to the forum to create a “NOW WHAT?!” thread.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.
Fantastic! Haha you are welcome, not really help but let’s call it an effort! :P
Since the material needed to craft boxes of armor is not something you usually carry around, these recipes are often left unlearned.
The level 150 armor boxes (as far as I know) consist of 10 crafting vendor purchased Spools of Cotton, 13 Bolts of Cotton, 17 STEEL Ingots and 20 (I think) of a certain crafting material (Totems, Claws, Bones, etc).
EDIT: I realize now that I did not answer your question. I was always under the impression that it is via discovery. You say it does not work?
