I want a raiding group

in Looking for...

TeeracK.3601

So it seems like its completely impossible to do raids in pugs on gw2 so I’m looking for a group here. Since no one actually uses the group finder and when i asked how to find a group in map chat everyone gave me reposes like “go to the forums” “find a guild” “its easy” so… here i am trying to see if its really so easy to find a group…

The only groups i see being formed literally ever are by people selling runs and i’m not buying a run. I think that everyone in the raid lobby is probably just someone there to sell a raid and that is why people get so defensive and dismissive when ever anyone says its hard to find a group. /shrug.

I just want to do content.

Great idea.

them adding the account bound bag slots was them realizing that items like the salv-o-matic and the air ship pass sell way better when you can also buy an account bound slot. I think it be great if the tool slots were account bound as well. Either as a free or gem store thing I want it.

Skill Points on the Map

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TeeracK.3601

TeeracK.3601

So Just kinda a minor suggestion but maybe just make it so the skill points will turn blue or something once you earn them? The way the icons look now it’s very easy to mix them up with earned and not earned. It also makes it really hard to just see what you’re missing on a map just by glancing at it since all the other icons change color entirely when you unlock them. Idk how everyone else feels but I don’t see how changing the color of the ones earned could be anything but a positive thing. I would also imaging this would be a very simple change you could probably do in minutes by swapping a file out in the game’s FTP so I wouldn’t think it be something outside of the dev’s current resources.

Retconning the Sea of Sorrows... AGAIN!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tengu land is kind of odd. It stars in LA,and borders on Caledon. But there is a human port right in the middle of it where the wizards tower is, it has moved from where it was to around where the temple of tolerance was. I’ve given up on trying to compere the 2 game maps, the seismic changes to the maps should have killed everyone. Things do not change that much naturally with out a loss of a lot of life. Mountain ranges appearing from no where, sinkholes swallowing places, Ascalon city, Temple of the Ages, the dwarven village in Loners pass that was in dreadnoughts drift.

I was comparing the map from the start of gw2 to what it looks like in HoT. Not comparing gw1 to gw2.

If you really looks at it, there are two zones. The city sized zone right next to LA and the starter zone right next to Caladon. They’re split by the passage to the wizard’s tower.

Back during development Tengu actually were going to be playable, but they scrapped them. They still have all the areas, though.

That leaves out all the islands and the fact it’s been stated a ton of times that the City is on Sanctum Cay and not on the D’Alessio Seaboard.

Retconning the Sea of Sorrows... AGAIN!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Anyone else think the Sea of Sorrows should be looked at and adjusted? It just seems like kind of a mess to me right now. If you consider Claw Island and Garenhoff their ships would need to be going through Tengu lands all the time which just doesn’t make a lot of sense considering the Tengu are supposed to keep people out of their lands. In fact some people don’t realize this but the dungeon they added and removed in living story the Flame and Frost one was actually right next door to Lion’s Arch on the other side of the Tengu wall. It just seems like the Dev’s were planing on having the D’Alessio Seaboard in the game at one point looking at Tyra 3D. There is also the fact the Wizards tower moved from where it was in GW1 because of the Tengu and it seems a little silly to think it would move out of their lands… into their lands, and not move even further west. Then when they added South Sun Cove it kinda made things worse. They just slapped it over the map not connected to anything and not really in a location that it was planned to exist when they thought about the location of things since the original map didn’t even include it unexplored.

Here is what the Original Map looked like.

Here is the new map unexplored and explored
http://i.imgur.com/KUSwffP.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/jff5dOH.jpg

Just by doing that they already retconned that part of the world.

So this is just my idea on how to fix that region and make it so the Dominion of Winds makes sense, and South Sun Cove doesn’t feel so out of place and disconnected.
http://i.imgur.com/XFLset7.jpg

I think by simply moving South Sun Cove cover and adding an actual zone portal to connect it to Sparkfly Fen helps a ton. there already is a small chunk of coast line in the bottom corner of south sun you just die if you swim to it. When you zone in you’d be on a little cost on the mountain side and then just swim over like you do in Stairs of Devastation. The Dominion of Winds can stay a isolated Tengu area. D’Alessio Seaboard should just be it’s own zone outside of the Dominion of the Winds and allow us to actually go to Claw island in game outside of a story instance. I’m pretty confident that was ArenaNets original plan anyway considering there is a sea wall in Tyria 3D between Sanctum Cay and D’Alessio Seaboard. I’d also just like to say before anyone thinks the D’Alessios Seaboard looks like its too big to be one zone it’s almost exactly the same size as Caledon Forest if you moved the outline I made over to Caledon.

I feel like Sout Ssun more then anything else needs to be updated because of how disconnected it feels. I remember when season 1 started with south sun how disjointed it felt from the rest of the world really put a lot of people off and a ton of people missed out on frame of and frost cause of having not stuck around for south sun after. I think that was why when they added Drytop in Season 2 they didn’t just drop it in they actually took the time to change and expand on Brisband so that it felt like the world was expanding and not just some random new map where ever.

Alternatively they could also fix this by expanding on the Glove a little and adding a Sylvari Dock to the City instead of shifting South Sun over. The zone portals could just be at the end of a dock.

http://i.imgur.com/bED17zH.jpg

That’s just my opinion I don’t know if anyone else gets a little annoyed when ever looking at the Sea of Sorrows but that’s what I think they should do.

So it’s not possible to get the achievements in city of hope right now because when you die as a bunny you just instantly get kicked offline and gives you the error.

“Network Connection Error. Please check your internet connections and try again. (Code=1022:5:1:874:101)”

It doesn’t seem to be a real network issue since it happens every single time at the exact same time. If you die a bunny and respawn you dc a second later. I’m not sure if using your moves has anything to do with it but its bugged and unbeatable right now none the less. :c

The Problems with Adventures

TeeracK.3601

Isn’t saying that they’re kitten to the game you voicing an opinion that you don’t like them? Probably not the best idea to voice that this thread isn’t about that but then to start off doing just that.

Nope! Please don’t try and derail this thread with off topic stuff because you disagree.

You only need five mastery points from adventures if you get them from all other sources. Once living story starts back up, this should drop even further to the point that you do not need to do adventures. I will also point out that unless you plan to go for the four (sigh) HoT legendary weapons, you don’t need to max out the masteries.

That’s mathematically wrong and it’s also something I addressed later on in my post if you read it all.

I’m sure there are many people who could offer you pointers and advice for these if you’re open to them.

I think you’re really missing the point of this thread. This isn’t about me finishing, I already gave up. I just felt I had to explain why myself and so many people are just done with the game. This is a thread addressing the issue that the current system being so tied to adventures right now just isn’t a smart design that only drives off lots of players. If there really wasn’t an issue there wouldn’t be +5 threads about adventures being an issue in just the first few pages of this forum which is less active then the reddit. There IS a problem you can try and rationalize anything I say how ever you want, but it doesn’t change the fact this thread and a ton other exist talking about this kinda stuff, and it doesn’t change the fact a huge chunk of the community just wasn’t interested in this kinda stuff and left. I wanna see it get fixed I don’t wanna talk about how the problem might not be so bad if you look at it in just the right way.

I mean, you actually went into detail about some adventure’s difficulty in your response and that is just beyond irrelevant for this conversation.

The Problems with Adventures

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TeeracK.3601

TeeracK.3601

I made a thread about this before but it was deemed too rude and deleted so allow me to explain my issue much more civil.

This isn’t a thread about whether or not you like adventures or if you think they are good i don’t wanna discuss that…. That being said…. Adventures are kitten to the game. I don’t mean that to be insulting if you like Adventures good for you, go enjoy them. /thumbs up. But Adventures are NOT what guild wars is and forcing players to play them was and still is a huge mistake.

The game was in no way advertised around Adventures. In fact we didn’t even get to see Adventures before the game came out in any of the trailers, so for most people we didn’t really know what to expect but figure it just be some fun little side thing. Sadly its not a fun side thing it’s a mandatory frustrating thing.

In HoT they did not raise the level cap they added the mastery system. The mastery system is the new core progression system for your character. When you do things in the expansion you build up your masteries and can do cool new things. In order to cap out the Hot Masteries you have to get 117 points the total number of HoT points you can get are 139. There is a 22 point different, so it should be easy right? But wait! How many points come from adventures?? 30! So you will be forced to get at least 8 points from adventures.

Now before anyone says “Oh but the last few masteries don’t even mater!!” I’m sorry, but no. If they don’t matter then literally the dev’s should remove the entire tier from the game, so unless that’s the point you’re making don’t argue it. It is not at all a good feeling to spend hours of time actually leveling up and working on your masteries in the expansion just to get to the end and then to have no sense of pay off or satisfaction when you can’t unlock the final bar you just filled.

They also added Masteries to the elite spec collections which is another huge mistake for very much the same reason. Adventures have absolutely nothing to do with what class you play, so punishing people for choosing a class they enjoy but then find out they can’t finish the collection because they aren’t a pro at silly cell phone style games and bug collection makes no sense at all. This should just be removed because I can’t think of any reason it makes sense other then to force people to play adventures because you don’t think people would ever want to play them for fun without being forced into it.

What is happening now and what has already happened is there was a huge chuck of gw2’s community who got HoT played it and then after a week was like “wow this mastery system is BS!” and then a ton of them quit over the past few months and were like “Oh ill wait till the nerf.” Now the nerf happened and they(self included) came back and got on thinking they could finally play the game again, BUT that’s just not the case you’re still being forced to play mini games to advance in the real game and it just makes me not want to touch gw2 at all because i can’t cap out.

There are plenty of things in gw2 that are hard and I’ll never get and im fine with it. It’s part of all games, but none of those things are the core progression system of the expansion. Let me give some examples of how the current system works. If you couldn’t get past level 99 in wow unless you beat the timeless isle pet battle tournament or you couldn’t get to the final rank in LoL unless you won 10 ARAM games in a row. It’s just a very illogical system right now. It leaves people feeling cheated, frustrated, and incomplete. I understand why you did it, you put all this work into these new adventures and you wanna make sure people do them, but I’m telling you the current idea is a mistake. You need to tie a different reward to them or something because there needs to be a way to get more mastery points without them.

There is a group of people in this community who i think believe that there will be more masteries added with living story and itll fix it all, but I’m pretty sure they will be adding more points and more mastery trees with living story so it would only continue the problem. Worse it would likely lead to people being unable to get masteries they need for living story stuff by accidentally spending the points they get from living story on old unfinished masteries putting them in a place where they might not be able to even advance in the story unless they did adventures.

So anyway that is why pretty much why everyone I know has quit guild wars 2(People who used to play it all the time) and I’m struggling to keep playing when all I do is get on a fail at some adventures for an hour before giving up. Probably be saying good bye to Tyria myself soon. :/

Idk how you’d wanna fix this if you’d just pretend the issue doesn’t exist >.< , but maybe if you made it so once you finish a mastery track like say you cap out gliding, you could activate a new xp bar that gives you a mastery point at the end similar to how skill points used to work. Idk just a crazy idea…. you know…. being rewarded…. for playing the actual game a…. o.o /shrug

Or maybe simply adding a point to all the bronze rewards and swapping the collections from silver to bronze would work.

Here are my masteries.
Gliding – 31/31
Itzel Lore – 31/31
Exalted Lore – 19/19
Nuhoch Lore – 19/31
Forsaken Thicket - 0/5
7 point left over

they also didn’t raise the lvl cap they added masteries so its the main way you feel character progression in the expansion yet you can’t play the game and cap it you have to do silly mini games that aren’t fun and are hard to progress. It should be completely optional to do adventures at all not mandatory. They need to add a ton more points to various other things so you aren’t forced to watch duffy guides and practice the adventures all day like a religion.

Hell if they would just add some way to get mastery points infinitely it could solve all of this. Maybe allow you to activate a different exp bar that when you finish rewards you a mastery point or something. Similar to how hero points worked before HoT. Idk something… just the current way is not fun and not fair to people who enjoyed the game for what i was.

When are you nerfing mastery points?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TeeracK.3601

TeeracK.3601

You haven’t needed to get gold in any adventures for quite some time. The mastery points get you to do various things throughout the entire expansion. There are currently 25 excess mastery points.

Actually it’s slightly more with the new raid wing. But the last 20 points are still hard to get and getting silver in most adventures is all RNG. There shouldn’t be this massive cut off in your ability to progress in the real game because you arent good at cell phone games. It actually embarrassing they let such a poor design into the game.

not sure what the point of your posts was. I guess you’re all for the game staying poorly designed so it makes casual players lose even more interest in it. HoT has pushed away so many players its actually not funny.

It’s exactly 25 but that’s assuming you also invest points into the raid mastery line. Only a handful of adventures have some form of RNG. You only need to do get 5 MP from what you consider to be “cellphone games”.

My point was that there was plenty of alternatives and it is not required to get gold in any adventures. I stated that in the very first sentence.

I also disagree that they are poorly designed. It seems people use “poorly designed” for anything that they do not like. Well, I don’t like how a lot of this game is so easy so it is therefore poorly designed.

Was the game advertised around adventures? Did anyone in the entire world buy guild wars 2 so they could go around and play mini games over and over? No, but you’re forced to because they took something that should have been an optional “fun” bonus thing to do and made it something you HAVE to do. And they are way clunkier then any of the random free games i could download on my tablet right now. Trying to say they aren’t poorly designed makes me believe you have played very few video games and have no idea what good games look like. Are you one of the people who also thought garrion missions in wow were a good thing? o.o I honestly don’t believe they even tested half of them.

I have every single mastery point that isn’t related to adventures. I’m missing about half of the silver ones and all of the golds and im 14 short. I honestly have no idea how i will ever get the rest of them unless they fix their game.

I had 10 friends i used to play gw2 with a lot and now i only every play it alone because none of them could deal with this crap. The current system is just designed to push out players who used to play the game daily casually. You’re forced to grind away xp for hours and hour just to find out in the end you can’t even complete the stuff you’ve been working on for over a month. Waste of time and effort and it just makes me feel guilty knowing i got five of my friends to come back to guild wars for this expansion.

When will there be an update that fixes mastery points? Right now it’s impossible to mastery cap unless you are able to get gold in a bunch of kittenty buggy and hilariously poorly made cell phone games called “adventures” Please half the total number of mastery points needed so that i can play the game and not get on every day and try my best to beat some kittenty cell phone games before giving up.

I used to play gw2 a lot and buy a lot of things in the gem store, but now i get on and fail to get golds for a few hours before logging out. I’ve uninstalled the game now and will probably give my account away if there is no nerf to the mastery point system since it’s just really bad game design.

I’m sure this thread will get a lot of hate, but i actually don’t care at all and wont read most posts in it that arent from devs so don’t waste your time.
