I had to do Chalice of Tears again recently.. I can’t stress enough how much I absolutely despise that horrible broken JP..
So glad they’ve moved away from making them like that.

Reclaimed essence destroys minions

Teratus.2859

This is a general problem with all transform based skills and attacks.. it’s been a major pain for a long time..

Transforms tend to insta destroy minions and pets.. some have been reworked not to such as the trap chains in dungeons and fractals but others such as these reclaimed essences and the last boss in the ice fractal who can popsicle you have not.. so getting transformed by these things will insta kill your adds.

Take it from me.. this is impossible with minion builds.. not only do minions make the boss invincible thanks to his 100% dmg reduction buff but using a necro gives the boss life steal so he’ll just heal all the damage you did anyway..

Abaddon is completely and utterly destroyed..
his divinity.. power.. knowledge.. life force.. everything was taken from him and absorbed into Kormir..

There is nothing left of Abaddon.. not even a corpse.

I am going to miss the old weapons.. not that I used them much.. but I am a big fan of minion mechanics..

Naturally Necro Minions are the best of this but I love the idea of making other summoner classes based on their respective summons.. ele elementals.. ranger spirits.. engi turrets, mesmer phantasms and guardian weapons..

Sad to see Guardian loose theirs..

I’m still hoping ele’s get a summoner elite spec one day that gives them more elemental summons with permanent duration’s like minions are.. that would be awesome.

Many people severely underestimate how useful NPC allies are.

I’ve some builds in mind for some of the specs but most are for characters that haven’t even finished the personal story yet so i’ll get to them one day..

I’m mostly looking forward to the story and exploring the new maps.. because those are 2 of the only things left that haven’t been spoiled for me XD

That Dps seems to be percentage based rather than damage based..

I took my most tankiest character in that instance.. a character I’ve regularly used to solo all sorts of powerful enemies even dungeons and fractals and it got utterly ripped apart in seconds..

Not even raid bosses and T4 fractal bosses have been able to do that much damage to it that quickly.. it was absurd how much damage that AoE did.. if it was just raw damage my glass Ranger would have been obliterated in one attack..

Teratus.2859

I enjoy it a lot. I don’t like things just handed to me and like having the mastery lines as end game content.

As others have said, some of the masteries have limited use, but some of those are needed for certain areas to progress, so I don’t mind getting them.

Masteries are good alternatives to power creep end game content.

It’s a great progression system.. a way to keep building your characters at max level
It would be kinda neat if each character had their own mastery progression though.. an optional tick box to swap between character and account based masteries would be great.. it would give a lot of people a chunk of replayability that they crave.

I’ve no interest in playing PoF before it’s release.. I don’t want to spoil any of the specific dialogue or sights I’ll hear or see.. I’ve already had enough thing spoiled for me thanks to jerks..

I have an idea of what specs I plan on using though..
Mostly the 3 heavy armor classes get my interest the most
I’ve been wanting a condi guardian for a long time and also for my Revenant to get a second condi weapon to swap too even better a ranged one.. and despite all the crap Spellbreaker is getting I see a lot of potential in it and frankly I like the idea of a heavy armor rouge like class so i’m going to use it for sure.

The one’s i’m less keen on are Scourge and Weaver..
I love the Deathshroud mechanic so giving that up isn’t going to be easy.. I do have a theoretical condi build in mind for it though so i’m going to be trying it out..
Weaver on the other hand looks like the most confusing class I’ve ever seen in a mmo lol..
I’m not a good ele player.. I find the class hard to manage and confusing.. Weaver looks even harder and more confusing to get used to so I’ll probably stick with Tempest.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Teratus.2859

Unless they add an entirely new region with an individual story like GW1 Factions or Nightfall were then this is never going to happen.

I love Tengu too but adding in any new playable race to the main story this late into it would be a total cluster…. I need not finish that word..

What you’re asking for and what I’ve asked for myself just isn’t going to work for Gw2.. sorry but that’s just how it is..

Now what we could argue for is Tengu being more involved with the story.. take us to their home city sometime.. have one of them join Dragon’s Watch as a main support character like Rytlock and Taimi etc
This would be fantastic to have.

Underwater combat is great.. it just needs some upgrading..

It would be as simple as making Sword, Dagger and Pistol usable as underwater weapons for different classes..
Making them a bunch of new skill bars for each weapon and class then poof.. underwater just got a ton better..
Same can be said for making spears usable as land weapons sometime..

People give underwater such a hard time but I challenge you to find one MMO that does it better than Gw2…
What we really need is a lot more underwater content being added to justify priority to improve underwater combat.

It’s annoying that Anet seem to ignore this feature in the game despite it being so good and having so much potential..
I hope LW4 gives us an ocean map.. considering how much water they’ve added with the new map there’s plenty of potential there now to give the sea dragon a little attention..

Mounts, water and old maps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

I still don’t care for them..

Imo Gw2 doesn’t and never has needed mounts so I personally only plan on using them when I need their abilities.. most of the time I’ll be running around on foot like normal because I just don’t care about mounts.

I do like that Anet is incorporating them as individual masteries with unique abilities etc.. this was a good move and it means that mounts in GW2 will have a purpose and not just a generic movement buff with a cosmetic effect like they are in most other games.

But I am concerned about skins.. it’s obvious Anet will capitalize on the popularity of mounts by adding gemstore skins.. and considering each mount will have it’s own mastery line this is going to limit the overall number of mounts in the game..
I have no issue with skins altering the mounts appearance like adding more spikes or feathers to the Raptor.. but I do have a problem with them completely replacing said Raptor with a different creature entirely.. even if it uses the same model..
This will annoy me a lot tbh.

Appeal to stop making predictions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

My biggest issue is with spoilers..

Lets be honest here a ton of so called story predictions about the end of LW3 and the expansion are far too accurate and completely came out of nowhere..

Balthazar being Lazarus.. despite absolutely no evidence to even hint at that.. not to mention Livia coming out of nowhere..

These sorts of predictions are nearly impossible without some kind of preconceived knowledge that these story points were even on the table..

There was a huge leak a while back not only for the expansion but also the end of the living world.. and I for one am convinced that all these ridiculously accurate predictions stemmed from those leaks and not so called educated guesses like some would claim.. and a good deal of it was spread by people who just wanted to either spoil upcoming content or make themselves look good..

For the most part this already spoiled the LW3 finale episode and the surprise of the expansion, it’s setting, features and it’s basic story direction..

As a longtime fan of this franchise to say I’m annoyed is an understatement.. and I encourage Anet to not just clamp down on the leaks but actively perma ban people’s accounts from the game for even discussing them on any official Gw2 sources..

I know people will rag on about social media and youtube for that but they are not the only ones at fault..
I’ve seen multiple groups of people in game.. talking about this crap right in the local map chat on multiple occasions..

This needs to stop.. and Anet need to make it clear that they will not tolerate people spoiling upcoming content for others.

I’d love to be able to hold Glider Races in my Guildhall.. specially with the ability to create the track myself ^^

I could have a lot of fun with updraft and spiderman placements ^^
First I’ll need decor permission though XD

Would also be nice to get a daily or weekly guild loot chest that we could place at the end of custom made race tracks or jumping puzzles.. even if it rewards total junk.. would still be nice to have that.

Question: impossible to add new weapon types?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

Nah not impossible.. probably easy actually.. just time consuming and a lot of work for minimal reward..

As DarcShriek said a big problem would be limited skins.. but there is also new animation work to do and creating and balancing new skills for them.

Probably the best way to go would be to make it so Harpoons become usable as land weapons and make a couple of land weapons like the one handed Sword, Dagger and maybe Pistol usable as water weapons with 5 skills.

This would solve the skin problem at least.. but leave animation work and skill balancing.

I’m in favor of it though.. I love Underwater combat in Gw2 and am eagerly waiting for future content that involves anything to do with the Sea dragon and expanding on Gw2’s Underwater combat and amount of water based biomes in the game.

Imo the main reason people complain about Uw combat is simply the lack of build diversity compared to what they get on land as well as it being an area overlooked for balance quite often.
A few new weapons would help with that as would a little more time invested into making more utility and elite skills viable or even usable underwater.

More report options please

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

Dunno if this is the right place to post this but anyway..

I’ve been playing Gw2 since it’s beta.. and also Gw1 since it’s first year of release..

I care about these games and personally take a strong dislike to players who cheat and exploit certain things in the game to get ahead..

Over time the exploits have changed but the report options have not..

Botting back in the early days was a huge problem.. but I never see them anymore.
AFK farming however seems to be the new common problem.. most of the time it’s Necromancer players with Minions or Trap Rangers and their pets.

For me personally as someone who enjoys and loves both Rangers and the Necro Minion mechanic in Gw2 I do not wish to see any nerfs or changes to those classes come about because of these exploiters.
So I make it a personal mission of reporting these people when I see them.

The problem is.. there isn’t a report option for AFK farming.. the closest is botting which imo is a worse offense.. and also a lot different from AFK farming which isn’t taking advantage of 3rd party software like botting does.

What we really need is an upgraded list of report options to more accurately represent the problems Gw2 has today.. or at the very least a specific option for reporting these AFKfarmers.

Please take this into consideration.. it would mean a lot to me and others like me who really care about this game.

Take it from me buddy.. I hate the Meta standards in MMO.. in fact I actively rebel against the Meta by refusing to use the builds others claim are the best..

When people were running Necro Meta builds in PvP I was running my own custom Minion Master and slaughtering players left and right like Dhuum on happy pills.

Meta Builds are nothing but the opinions of groups on what’s the best way to play and I for one will play how I like with whatever builds I like..
The only exception to this is raiding where your build is important to the success of a group..

For Fractals.. dungeons.. pvp.. wvw.. Pve play whatever the fire island chain you want to..
I’m still running my Minion Master in a lot of Gw2 content and for the most part I don’t even need other players to beat dungeons and reasonably high level fractals etc I can do it alone.. other people just make it faster.

If you don’t want to play the Meta builds then don’t… 2 of my main characters slaughtered their way through the entire HoT content without even bothering with their Elite Specialization.. there are still plenty of great builds available without the elite spec traitline..

Tbh I’m far more interested in a GW1 remake with the Gw2 engine :P

But as for Gw3.. yeah sure but Gw2 is a long way off needing a successor..

I do hope that Gw3 will be a much better combination of Gw1 and Gw2 though.. take the best elements from both games and make something so epic people would never want to play another MMO again lol

There have been many cool elements from Gw1 in the recent living world patches and that’s made a lot of old players very happy.. continuing this trend is going to make Gw2 so much better than it currently is and I am very excited to see where the future takes us

Vengeance skill need serious changes..

in Warrior

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

I’ve been meaning to make this request for a long time now.. but compared to all the other classes in gw2 the Warrior has by far the most useless downed skills in the game..

Vengeance specifically is what I’m going to address here..
This skill is a royal pain in the rear.. even when traited for 100% rally chance there are soo many enemies in the game that don’t count and even if you kill them while vengeance is active you will not rally.. even with a 100% guarantee you still won’t rally.. and you will instantly die afterwards.. (prior to posting this I had the exact thing happen to me after enchanted bloodstone weapons downed me in A Shadows Deeds story mission.. and honestly this has been a long time issue for me responsible for a great deal of rage quitting moments..)

This horribly breaks this skill and by extension the Vengeful return trait as well and this completely screws the Warrior player out of a situation he should easily be able to survive..

I strongly advise Vengeance be redesigned so that instead of instantly dying when it expires.. the Warrior falls back into a downed state and Vengeance goes on a long cooldown to balance it against overuse..

I think this would greatly improve the Warrior as a class.. It gives the Warrior a far more useful downed skill comparable to the severely OP Ranger Lick Wounds or the ability to stealth or TP away like Thief or Flee to allies like Ele can
And it also gives other players a better chance to revive a fallen Warrior since the Warrior will have the capability of being able to reposition himself to be revived without other players needing to risk suiciding trying to revive him..

A Warrior who dies in vengeance state though could still suffer a insta death.. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.. it toys with the Fight or flight mentality and I quite like the risk factor of that decision.. but on vengeance expiry it would be far better to fall back into a downed state like an Ele does after using Vapor form

Please consider this request.. Vengeance really is a horribly broken and useless skill in far too many situations and I really think this is the best way to fix this skill..

Recent Fractal Changes thoughts

Teratus.2859

I just finished the Aetherblade fractal with exploding enemies and flux bombs..

suffice to say the changes made to that fractal have made it imo insufferable and irritating as all hell..

I am not playing that fractal on T3 or higher again..

It took us kitten near 40 minutes to get through that hell of a fractal and at least 5 mins of that were because of all the kitten stunlocking bull**** we had to deal with..

15 minutes was trying to get past that beam puzzle which pre changes was annoying but easy… now it’s a disaster of stunlocking insta death..

At this rate we desperately need the old stability mechanic back because what it now is a worthless boon that has little to no use what so ever..

I’m not playing this fractal again.. not while it’s like this.. I’d rather go 1 on 1 with Gorseval with no armor and permablind than play this insufferably bad fractal again..

As for the other changes.. I don’t really care too much about the new instabilities in most circumstances..
they are a fun new addition for the most part.. but combined with some of the existing mechanics and designs of certain fractals they greatly diminish the experience..

It’s fine if you have anti stacking mechanics in most circumstances.. but if you add them to places where you have no choice but to stack up.. like on a tiny platform over a death pit.. while there are already things trying to knock you off said platform..
that’s not challenging content.. that’s just a douchy thing to do..

Nobody like dying in MMO’s but what people truly hate is dying when they have absolutely no way to avoid it..
Survival based on skill is good design.. survival based on luck is just going to push people away from this content.

I don’t understand why you can’t solo. i can solo them all

Depends entirely on the class, build and mechanics of the character i’m using..

I’ve a couple of characters that can solo virtually anything and then others that are just not as capable for it..

HoT is a lot easier to solo for certain classes and playstyles and a lot harder for others..
suffice to say taking different classes and builds through the same content has different results..

You can’t?

I can.. my fractal character can solo almost any fractal up until the level 60’s and some specific ones after 60
besides the obvious ones like Swamp and Underground that require multiple people for mechanical reasons..

a lot of Fractals are easy to solo though even in T3.. just time consuming lol

If only all the classes could be as unstoppable as my Fractal character though..

Thats not a simple personal goal. Its an MMO, you are meant to work together in the field. Getting to 80, crafting an exotic weapon, finding Lions Arch, thats simple goals. Taking on champion group event mobs is not supposed to be that. Its a group even for a reason.

With your argument, I could say that the Dragons Stand meta should be soloable. Its a simple goal to me. I dont want to play PvE, I only play WvW. Why isnt Dragons Stand soloable in 5 minutes?

And yet virtually every Hero Point in the vanilla game has been a solo challenge and designed to be beaten alone..
Hero Points are personal goals that benefit you and only you.. not group goals that benefit everyone..

By your logic it’s perfectly acceptable to make story instances as difficult and challenging as dungeons then right?
cause it’s a MMO after all…

Gw2 was always designed to be a tradition breaking MMO focusing heavily on not hindering players who prefer or have little option but to play alone..
don’t forget that.

Story too short

Teratus.2859

Yes the Story was short.. but really take a look at what the patch give us

New PvE Map
New PvP Map
New Fractal Hub Map
New Story chapters
New Mastery
New repeatable Heart Quests
Multiple new Events and Chains
New Minipets
New Map Currency
New Merchant NPC’s and items
2 New Jumping Puzzles
New Back Skin
New Weapon set Skin

The list goes on..

Yeah the Story was short but seriously.. look how much content we got in this patch instead..
I very much want more story over content when it comes to Living World patches but sometimes you have to give and take on big patches like this..

Just wait until we get a LW patch that doesn’t give us this amount of content..
I’d expect if we didn’t get new maps and all sorts of new content like we did in both the LW3 patches we’ve had so far then we would have a far more story focused patch with longer and overall more Story content.

Same applies to the next expansion pack for Gw2 as well..
HoT give us a chunk of content but a lot of new system mechanics and stuff as well which I expect took up a good chunk of its development..

But now that all that is in the game already we can expect the next expansion to be much bigger and more content and story packed

Heart of Thorns Killed My Interest in GW2

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Teratus.2859

I have not played Guild Wars 2 since the first week that Heart of Thorns was released. This is the first time that I can remember, than an expansion turned me off so badly, that it made me lose all interest in the game itself.

I do not know if it was the flying, or the vertical zones, or whatever but boy it was a nightmare.

Did anyone else have this experience, and if so, are you looking forward to the volcanic patch coming up? Maybe they will get back to what made GW2 great.

The only thing I hate about HoT is that if you play a ranged character.. it’s simple
but if you play a melee character.. oh boy are all those CC spamming enemies going to royally **** you off lol

While I like the maps and general content of HoT some of the new enemies seem to be designed around annoying the holy hell out of traditional meta builds in the Vanilla game like your common zerker boy warriors etc

although I personally favor tanky melee characters I still find myself struggling with certain enemies because of their insufferable need to spam charge or spam AoE and stand in it so I can’t deal any damage to them.. it’s very irritating lol

If it is for map completion then the only reason to do it is to get some shinies from completion and the ability to craft the new legendaries that where released. Since you don’t WvW you will not finish the new legendaries anyway. Not seeing anything but a player created roadblock. Also if you can’t do it one day do it the next or next since you will eventually get it stop fixating and just play the game.

I don’t care about the Legendary weapons or armor anyway.. don’t want them nor do I see the point in wasting all that time, gold and mats on them.. No skin is worth that kind of investment to me and considering how common they are they have no value or prestige to me at all anymore.. tbh I regret wasting all the time and mats to get the Legend I do have…
I only go as far as getting the Precursors anymore.. just for the skins and partly for the small quest element which is really the only thing Gw2 has that imitates a traditional questing system..

It’s no player created roadblock its a design roadblock.. Nobody should have to have their personal player progress hindered by group forced content.. which is exactly why Arah’s story mode got redesigned to be a Soloable instance a long time back and why me and a lot of other people agree on all of the dungeon story modes should also be soloable instances as well since they tie in with the main games personal story.

These group forced HP’s are no different.. they block player progress with no reason to do so..

People keep talking about HP trains and players who still do Hp’s for the rewards.. and yet what I am proposing doesn’t even effect those players..
they can still do their trains and get their rewards.. the only thing that changes is the necessity for waiting around for other people so that you can complete content that is preventing you from getting your personal map completion reward..

Players should not have to rely on other players to complete such a simple personal goal.. hell going back a few years one of the biggest complaints I remember was how people needed to complete the WvW maps for world completion which is the exact same problem of being forced to rely on others to complete something you should be capable of doing alone.. and that was also something the developers changed in time

These seem to be your own problems. Your idea that people who have HoT HPs no longer want them is entirely mislead. They reward a significant amount of map currency daily, so players can do HP trains even after unlocking all 40 HoT HPs.

Like I said.. I don’t see that when I play.. nothing in map chat or LFG.. matter of fact when I’ve been playing HoT lately the map chat is practically dead despite players running around and the LFG rarely has anything besides the Meta or events in it

There’s also 40 HoT HPs, and you only need 25 of them. Also if you actually use your alts, and get HPs on normal Tyrian maps, you don’t have to get 25 in HoT maps. Map completion is well-rewarded with materials and BLC keys. Oh, and it’s 100% solo-able.

Map completion involves completing maps.. hence the name.. I complete the HoT maps for the rewards not world completion.

Don’t lump in “old players” with yourself. I have all 9 elite specs and have had them since shortly after HoT launched, and I’m still happy to help with them. A new class takes ~1-2 hours to earn the elite spec. Just based on Dulfy’s guide there are a total of 19 solo-able HPs in HoT (7 VB, 4 AB, 5 TD, 3 DS). 4 More in DS are easy to get if you do the meta even once. Choose 2 others. The three others in VB other than guano are easy with 1-2 people. AB has several near WPs. TD has some easy ones (guano, zintl camp, and troll).

With myself?.. Fyi I’ve been playing this game since early beta.. that’s Vanilla game beta not HoT beta.. and I’ve 11 years history with Gw1 as well which I still play on occasion..
I’m just as much an ‘old player’ as any experienced Guildwars veterans.
I have all the elite specs as well though that’s an irrelevant point and I don’t know why you made it.
Like I said i’m not completing HP’s for elite specs.. I’m doing it for HoT map completion because I want to have all my characters.. all 15 of them with all of the PvE maps completed and fully explored eventually.. that’s why I do it and what I mostly enjoy about PvE.

I’ve never had a problem getting help with HPs – HP trains still run to this day. Check LFG for an HP train. If you want help with a specific one, say so in chat (not while the meta is running). Go to AB, and in map chat say: “Help with mushroom king plz”, “Help with quetzal HP plz”… Go to VB and say “Help with golem HP plz”. Seriously…never fails to get 1-2 people and you only need 1-2 people. Make a friend. Get a guild mate. Link the waypoints in chat. It’s really not that hard.

I check the LFG all the time and rarely ever see people asking for help with HP anymore.
Usually the only time I see that Is when I put a LFG up myself and usually I have to wait a good while before people join.. or someone merges my LFG with theirs even though we are not even doing the same content or even playing on the same map either.. hell sometimes they are not even playing on the HoT maps.. and that happened to me yesterday in fact.

Literally, right this second in LFG:

  • Open World -> Verdant Brink -> “HP run, no wp needed” 8/50
  • AB: “Ori node hp” 3/10
  • AB: “Notice to trespassers and egg clutch hp” 2/10
  • AB: “Balthazar’s Temple” 1/10 (If combined with the above two…you basically have an AB HP train…if only they would group up…….)

TD is in meta right now, so no HP adverts to be expected. DS has over 80 in the three squads being advertised so it should be a successful meta.

I assume you’re playing on NA servers which is why you are having a totally different experience than I am

I don’t understand why you can’t solo. i can solo them all

I can solo most of them with ranged builds..
But not all my characters use Range builds and for the most part HoT is a nightmare for melee characters thanks to CC and charge spamming mobs and all the AoE some enemies like Chak and Mushrooms like to spew out..

it’s very easy to get locked down as a Melee character and find yourself in many situations where you can’t do any damage at all without suiciding yourself..

There are many enemies I actively avoid on melee characters such as Veteran Chak, Mushrooms, Chargers, Stoneheads, Bombers etc

HP’s don’t need a nerf… have you ever posted in LFG or just asked in map chat if someone needs a certain HP? I have never had to wait hours… or certainly not days to complete a HP. If you are, you are simply not trying to find a group. Also a lot of areas have HP trains that you can join.

Yes I do use the LFG and I do use it every time I need help with a HP..

The problem is like I said.. most people have already done the HP’s and more often than not it can take a long time before someone else who needs it comes along.. this is especially more common when the map’s Meta phases start while you are waiting..

if the Meta events start while you are waiting for help then you can almost guarantee you’ll have to wait until the event ends before anyone will join you..
and that can take a very long time.. specially in Auric Basin thanks to the Map being taken over by people map hopping for extra loot..

As for HP trains.. I honestly haven’t seen one of them in months..

Tbh what I’d love to see come to Gw2 in halloween is some sort of Ghost ship in the harbor that we can swim out to and get sucked inside some kind of mini dungeon full of ghost pirates with a major sugar addiction..

they are luring curious adventurers into their liar and transforming them into candycorn elementals so they can eat them and satisfy their never ending need for sugar

You manage to escape in your candy form and must use your transformed abilities to escape the Pirate lair and rescue other kidnapped adventurers.. the more NPC’s you manage to save the more rewards you get at the end ^^

Daily Achievements

There are so many things missing from achievements in the core game.. and HoT

There were no expansions to things like Slayer..

Where is the Saurian Slayer achievement?
Where is the Chak Slayer achievement?
Where is the Mordrem Slayer achievement?

Why are there no real class specific PvE achivements either?

I’d love to see each classes unique element expanded with achievements in order to encourage people to play all the classes at some point in time..

Embrace the Darkness (Necro) Increases with Kills under death shroud
Bursting Strength (Warrior) Increases when using Burst attacks in combat
Kill’em (Ranger) Increases when Pets kill enemies
Yoink (Thief) Increases upon use of stolen items
Getting the hang of it (Ele) Increases when swapping elements in combat
Virtuous one (Guardian) Increases when using Virtues in combat
Calling on the past (Revenant) Increases when swapping Legends in combat
Utility Belt (Engineer) Increases when using Tool Belt skills in combat
The Shattering (Mesmer) Increases when using Shatter skills in combat

And why no enticement for skill types either..
Gw2 has many different skill types they could add achievements for using those skills.. more so now with elite specs giving more of them to multiple classes

Physical Prowess (Physical skills)
Well well well (Wells)
You fell for it (Tricks)
Signetry (Signets)
Loudmouth (Shouts)
Master of the Puppets (Minions)
Didn’t see that coming (Traps)

I think people would be far more interested in experimenting with different builds if they were enticed to try playing with different kinds of skills and skill combinations..

there are a lot of areas in Gw2 achievements could be added too tbh.

I don’t really understand the nostalgia for the old LA..

I always thought the old LA was quite and eyesore.. very ugly place to be..

In Gw1 LA was a real town.. in Gw2 it just looked like a shanty town of shipwrecks.. hardly fitting for a capital city..

What LA looks like now is just wonderful.. I love going there.. like some sort of holiday resort lol

I do love that the old LA is used for the personal story though that was a big must have feature ^^

but I’ll take this new LA over the old shanty town one anyday.. it’s a vast improvement
and I am also very much looking forward to the next time LA gets attacked by something..

I can’t wait to see those defenses in action.. canons, airships it would be awesome ^^

HoT Hero Points need a severe nerf

For the love of all things please nerf these group based Hero Points..

I am so sick and tired of waiting to do certain Hero Points because pretty much everyone who has HoT has done them and has no interest in doing anything anymore besides farming the HoT maps meta events..

I’ve long been of the mind that Hero points should always be soloable anyway but I understand the desire to involve more group play when HoT was launched and it was fine back then..

But that’s not the case anymore.. now these Hero points are nothing but an annoyance for both new and older players who are taking alts through the HoT maps..

GW2 is often praised as a game where there is no waiting around for groups to complete content.. but content like these group based Hero Points make that statement untrue..

Sometimes I’m waiting hours or even days to find other people wanting to complete certain Hero Points.. frankly it’s ridiculous..

Please make these Hero Points far easier for people to complete solo.. it really would be a big help to the game for everyone taking alts through HoT.. and new players alike..

Hero Points have no reason to be group based anymore and all they really serve as is a hindrance to players wanting to get their map completion over and done with asap so they can start playing the actual map content with everyone else.

Constantly hidden Miniatures in HoT?

Yea StinVec is correct
gliding causes the minipets to auto hide unfortunately

there is also a similar bug when you die.. sometimes your back item will vanish even if the display tick is still active..

The Timer is cheap difficulty..

I am quite disappointed with the raid soo far..

Anet have gone for the same High Hp Timer cop out tactic they seem to love soo much..
this is not what I want to see representing soo called Challenging content..

The Vale Guardian is a kitten wimp overall.. his Ring AoE is the only attack he has that can even dent my main Raid characters Hp..

I want challenging mechanics… powerful bosses… enemies that force me to study them and learn how to deal with them.. not this high HP timer crap again.. im sick of this cheap difficulty being slapped on content instead of actual challenging content

Personally I can’t stand these weapons.. hideously ugly things that look like bugs to me lol

someone with artistic skill should be able to remake them in Skyrim though..
although the visual animation would be difficult to replicate
possible perhaps but I’d expect some serious fps drop though

Getting Guild Halls too Hard

Me and a Friend of mine were almost able to 2 man the first event to claim our hall
had we a 3rd we are confident we could have succeeded

in the end we did it effortlessly with 5 players a day later
in fact it was harder to capture my second hall with around 80 people lol
but it was also more fun the second time ^^

ArenaNet... personal damage meter ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

I’d like an easy way to find out how much damage I did just out of curiosity tbh..

I get why people are bitter about damage meters though
and while there are a lot of points etc being argued for and against etc there really is a very simple solution here..

Avoid elitism.. it’s really quite that simple..

if we had a dps meter it would change nothing for me..
I refuse to play with elitist players anyway..
If I want to run dungeons or fractals I just make my own group.. add all welcome to the description and usually within seconds I have a party..

not only that.. my party is almost always capable and efficient and we have fun
but best of all.. we are like minded.. everyone is welcome.. nobody criticizes..
people understand that’s the attitude expected when joining a all welcome group

the meta joke is in a lot of ways dying..
a few days ago I sat and watched a lfg for Ascalon catacombs I believe it was.. just because there was one person with a LFG 80 ZERK/EXP ONLY!! who just could not get a party..
there were plenty of other requests coming and going.. some with all welcome.. some looking for story etc.. but not this guy..
I sat there watching for about 5-8 mins.. nobody joined his party.. and then he give up and pulled his LFG

what the elitists don’t seem to realize is that as Gw2 grows in playerbase.. they become more and more a minority..
and there are a lot of people in the game now that just don’t want to play with these LFG 80 ZERK/EXP ONLY!! groups..

and for the most part.. most elitist players have got friends or guildmates who they regularly run this content with anyway so we are seeing them less and less in the LFG

Small correction: we saw Primordus and Kralkatorrik in GW1.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Kralkatorrik
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Primordus

you could also see Jormag’s champion Drakkar frozen under a lake in the far shiverpeaks
(we’ve not actually seen him in Gw2 yet)

You do see Jormag in art form during the Norn’s introduction video which depicts Jormag as a huge ice dragon..

it’s safe to say that Jormag, Primordus and Kralkatorrik definitely look like traditional dragons

although going back to gw1.. its a likely bet that Primordus is quite small in comparison to the others..
maybe the same size as Zhaitan..

Jormag and Kralkatorrik though.. I expect them to be absolutely massive.. specially Kralkatorrik whom in GW1 was an entire mountain range..

I seriously hope they retain their colossal size in Gw2 or im going to be severely disappointed..

Mordremoth is the biggest of the dragons though by far.. but he had no actual dragon form..
he was a mass of vines.. kinda like a Tangela which I mentioned already..

Does Rytlock end up explaining how he got his “new magic”? Because I just remember he kept postponing the answer.

Nope.. he literally just kept saying blah blah blah we don’t have time blah blah blah I’ll tell you later etc..

at most he mentions that he was able to harness the power of legendary heroes of the mists but as to how he learned that and why he still has not given us a definite answer..

one of the biggest disappointments with HoT is the fact that many of these big questions are still being dodged around..
it’s starting to get to a lot of people tbh.. myself included

I had a similar theory on the reincarnation of Glint through the Egg.. but considering she is a Revenant Legend I quickly dropped that theory lol

although I am quite pro the idea that the hatched Dragon will take on Glints name and legacy.. essentially becoming Glint 2 lol

Making things difficult is good. However, I really wish they would have stuck to the SW vinewrath method of the meta events. Where someone could jump in and assist without a massive time sink/guild organization, but keep the difficulty.

Now, as a solo person, there is little to do in DS unless you preorganize, go in with a guild, etc. Tangled meta is even worse. Luckily, VB and AB are ‘somewhat’ friendly for folks wanting to jump into the fray without a huge time commitment or organization.

What frustrates me the most is Anet’s complete slap in the face to casuals though. Fractals, dungeons and WvW were not enough group content, they had to make open world into some exclusive group content as well. Guild changes killing small guilds, open world requiring large zergs, legendaries requiring fractals, dungeon nerfs, event participation nerfs, killing Wvw roaming, etc. They are just sucking the life of out this game for folks who like to pop in casually and have fun without a 3+ hour investment each gaming session.

To my knowledge all open world large scale events have required groups of people
World bosses.. many of the games Group events.. living world stuff.. all maps that have a progression bar filled by completing events..
This isn’t new to Gw2

I play 99% of the time completely solo and I am not feeling any of the problems you are talking about here..
my best guess is that your character build and play style is simply inefficient in the new content..
and you are simply being too stubborn to adapt to the situation and the new content..
blaming the content instead of diving into your traits and gear to work out a way to beat the enemies..

there are many builds in Gw2 that are geared towards a specific thing and I’ve seen a lot of people complain in the past about how this uber popular build they got online is garbage because they can’t beat so and so..

the game does not work like that… finding a one build does everything setup is ridiculously hard to impossible..

my advice to you is simply this.. if you’re struggling then try a different build or gear set up..
sacrifice some dps for a lot of survivability..
toughness alone isnt going to help much.. throw some vitality in there as well
trust me I have 2 Necros.. one with just toughness and one with both toughness and vitality and the difference in tankyness is absurdly noticeable
