thanks for clarifying all that
This is not how you build a theory, you can’t just come up with something and then look for evidence, you first need evidence and then build your theory around it.
That said, I think the gods don’t communicate with Tyria much anymore for two very simple reasons.
1. They saw what happened if they meddled with mortal affairs too much, when Abaddon gave out the gift of magic freely. The result were terrible wars. So it’s in their interest to stay away from Tyria, maybe until the mortals can handle their presence (and not go blind like Malchor).
2. The EDs are known to feed on magic and what is a god over than a giant pile of sapient magic? I’m not sure if a dragon could kill a god and eat one, but I’m pretty sure the gods are not keen on finding out. So by limiting their interaction with the humans, they make sure their magic doesn’t get fed to the dragons. In other words, I think the gods’ silence is completly voluntary and they do it to protect Tyria.
Abbadon was destroyed by Humans using Magic
which lead to Komir becoming a God in his place
Abbadon was imprisoned for giving magic out too freely
The Gods took Magic away from the Jotun fearing that the Jotun were too powerful and would rebel against the Gods
the simple pattern here is that the Gods fear Magic when it is uncontrolled
my best guess would be that a God Can only be destroyed by magical means and that maybe a successor will arise in that Gods place
after witnessing the bloody wars started by Humans after they obtained magic im pretty sure the Gods saw this as a threat
specially if Humans ever discovered that their Gods could be slain and their power taken for themselves..
but here is a even bigger theory
What if the 6 human Gods are not really Gods at all?
what if they are just a severely old Race of spellcasters perhaps even one of the oldest races in all creation
The Six Human Gods are a group of deities worshiped by the humans of Tyria. The extent of their powers is not known, but it is known they are not omniscient, and by their own very nature as a pantheon each is not omnipotent. Despite this, their power cannot be destroyed, though they themselves can be supplanted.
This section of the Wiki clearly states that these beings are not all knowing nor are they all powerful
which are normally common traits associated with Godhood
Each of the races of Tyria have different attitudes to the gods. Despite their legend of Melandru, the charr view the gods as powerful beings to fight, not worship. The norn recognize the existence of the gods, but consider them an extension of their belief system of nature spirits; they refer to the Six as the “Spirits of Action” and do not call them by their name, but by what they govern – for instance, Balthazar is War and Kormir is Knowledge.1 The asura consider the gods to be relatively large parts (but parts nonetheless) of their Eternal Alchemy, and the sylvari, having appeared only in 1302 AE and therefore having never actually witnessed the work of the gods, remain unconvinced they exist at all.
What we need to remember here is that The Charr, Norn and very likely Asura all predate Humanity which arrived on Tyria along side Dwayna who was the first of the Gods to walk on Tyria
that can only mean that the Charr, Norn and Asura all predate the Gods arrival too which is why these 3 Races do not regard the Gods as Gods although the Norn did at one point in time before they were betrayed and turned to worshiping the spirits of the wild
What my theory is on all this is that the Gods may not even be Gods at all like I said before
but rather incredibly powerful beings whom claim to be Gods
I’d like to hear other people’s opinions on this too
I prefer to take a simple Harry Potter reference to it
The Wand Chooses the Wizard Mr Potter
the Way i see it Soulbinding a item to a character from a roleplaying perspective is little more than a weapon choosing its master
Tyria is a World of Magic after all
@BuddhaKeks
Body count wise, I meant that the charr killed more people than the mursaat did in gw1, since we were discussing the evilness of the races.
Were the Charr Evil though?
Originally Ascalon was Charr land and the Humans drove them out and built Ascalon on top of it
What the Charr did in Gw1 was little more than Revenge
What about the Mursaat being evil spellcasters who fear ED’s makes you conclude that we won’t see them as enemies?
I said unlikely not definite
The Murzaat left Tyria because they feared their own extinction and the hands of the Elder Dragons
they only ever returned to dominate humans and take over Kryta
to which they suffered massive losses and lost many of their greatest generals
to return now of all times with the Elder Dragons once again awake and not to mention the alliance of many Races doesn’t make sense to me
unless they came back with good intentions which is unlikely they would literally be trying to take over the world by taking on the whole world including the massive army’s commanded by their greatest enemies
it just doesn’t seem like something such a advanced, intelligent Elder Race would do
I have also heard that theory Erukk from a couple of sources but its completely flawed by confirmation that the Elder Dragons Pre date the arrival of the Human Gods on Tyria
One of the first things the Gods did when they arrived on Tyria was build the City of Arah and Arah’s location was decided because of the enormous magical energy the Gods could feel present in the area, we now know this area as Orr
we also know now that this enormous magical energy they sensed was coming from Zhaitan which is more than enough evidence i need to relay here proving that the Dragons were in Tyria long before the Gods were
specially since there have been confirmed cycles of Elder Dragons awakening long before Humans even existed on Tyria
and the Humans arrived on Tyria around the same time as their Gods did
Ahh so its not just me then
im on seafarers rest and cant log in
whats unusual is the game needs to authorize my account saying im using a new IP address which shouldn’t happen since my account has only been accessed from my computer at my address
The only Playable Race i really want even to the point where i’d jump on the forum and beg for it is Tengu
I have been a huge fan of the Tengu since i first saw them in Gw1
and i was soo mad when i found out they were a original choice for a playable race that got scrapped
make it happen Anet please
and i’ve seen Mursaat here quite a bit lately but I have to point out that they are a evil race of spellcasters whom fear the Elder Dragons
so its highly unlikely we will ever see them in Gw2 even as enemies
I don’t think so
they way I see it is that Tyria is a world rich with Magic
and the 6 Gods chose to inhabit Tyria because of this
manipulating magic and giving it to the Races of the world
To me the Gods seem to be beings of immense magical power and their only weakness seems to be Magic
Abbadon was Slain by Humans using Magic which proves one thing
the Human Gods can be destroyed
and we know from the Wiki that the gods are not omniscient and neither are they omnipotent
meaning that they are not all knowing and their power has limits
Now the gods first act on Tyria was to create the City of Arah which was built specifically in a area with massive magical energy (on top of a Elder Dragon)
so we know from that the the Gods are very attuned to Magic as well
So again the Gods and Magic seem to be connected
another thing that supports this is that the Gods stripped their favored Race (The Jotun) of their Magical abilities fearing that the Jotun would use their Magic against them
this clearly states that the Gods in some way fear magic and supports what im saying here
now from what we know about the Elder Dragons is that they too are beings of immense Magical power and further more they consume Magic
they also have the ability to corrupt all flesh and blood based beings turning them into monsters
and its also known that the Dragons pre date the Gods since they have always existed on Tyria
So my short answer to this would be No
The Dragons are much older and likely more powerful than they Gods
if one single race was enough to make the Gods fear them then the thought of 6 Ancient, Magic consuming Dragons with the ability to corrupt your servants and turn them against you would be terrifying to a immortal being
if anything I’d say the Gods are terrified of the Elder Dragons
The issue with that is that there should be risen Sylvari if they could be corrupted. Nothing I have read in lore suggests that Asura and Norn, and definitely not Charr, were present in Orr when it sank yet there are plenty or risen of them running around. Zhaitan corrupts anyone who dies in Orr which explains their existence there considering each race is part of the Pact and has been dying to fight the dragon. If the Sylvari are also dying their why aren’t we seeing risen of them if they are corruptible?
I haven’t seen anybody bring the Sylvari’s Anatomy into this
Unlike the other Races they are sentient Living plants and not flesh and blood beings like the Norn, Charr, Human and Asura aswell as the many other races that live in Tyria
Sylvari’s blood is a golden sap substance while their bones are hard wood and their skin is a combination of vines and leaves
correct me if im wrong here but as far as i am aware there are No corrupted plant based enemies in Guild Wars 2 either except for the Nightmare court (and the Champion Oakheart in Queens does not count since its Rotting, not corrupted)
which leads me to believe that only Living creatures of Flesh and Blood can be corrupted by the elder Dragons
onto the theory i’ve heard people say about the Dragons and Gods being connected I think that is very unlikely
from what we know the Elder Dragons predate the Gods arrival on Tyria buy a very long time, each Dragon seems to claim its own territory and from what we can see from Tyria the Elder Dragons do not cross paths
The Wiki also points out that when 2 different Dragon minions encounter each other they will fight one another suggesting that Elder Dragons are not allies and will fight one another if they happen to cross paths
so unlike the gods who all work together in peace its very unlikely they are connected
what we seem to have with the Elder Dragons is a Rain of Fire like story
the dragons awake to consume everything around them feeding on all the magical energy they can find, which fits considering that all the races have some affiliation with the Natural Magic of Tyria
all technology in Tyria is based on Magic which only further supports this even ancient cities like Arah were built in area’s with a lot of Magical energy (in Arah’s case on top of a Elder Dragon…. whoops lol)
but yes they awaken and corrupt everything they can feeding on the magical energy of the world and consuming all Magical artifacts they can find and once the world is barren and lifeless they fall back into slumber waiting for the world to replenish itself once again so that they may rise up once more and feed
it would also explain why the Gods left Tyria since they are beings of immense magical capability, its possible they themselves could be corrupted or even consumed by the Elder Dragons
after all they feared the Jotun’s ability to rebel enough to strip them of their magical ability
in some way they seem to fear Magic, perhaps its the only thing that exists that poses a threat to them and its possible that the Gods learned that the immense Magical energy they discovered in Orr was actually coming from a single being
a being perhaps even more powerful than they are or at the very least, powerful enough to pose a serious threat

After encountering some resource node hacker today i did a little research on the newer bots that were popping up in guildwars 2 and came across a website that is literally giving away a bit of software that allows you to generate gold on your guildwars 2 account..
now obviously Im not going to link the website here for very obvious reasons but I wanted to make this known to the Guildwars 2 team
people are literally giving themselves free gold ingame
i dont need to stress how Gold Sellers can and possibly are taking advantage of this
but this has been at least going on for 2 months judging by the dates on youtube
hopefully the Guildwars 2 team is already aware of this but if not i hope you can prevent this kind of hack before any serious damage is done to the economy
Sorry if this isnt the right place for reporting this but i wanted to make this problem known
