Perhaps you should do one on turret defense specifically…

I’ve been playing this content for soo long I’d consider myself very experienced with it

and yet every time I run teq the turret defense teams have no clue what they are doing..

They all stand in the water at east defense waiting for mobs to spawn (likely champ farming mobs that don’t even drop loot..) almost always ignoring Teq tentacles leaving usually 1-3 people take care of them (giving them more than enough time to kill turret players) and they completely ignore the northen mob spawns that 9-10 times I have to personally Solo..

they fail to prioratize Hypnoss mobs which summon more enemies and then wait around when they die to be revived instead of using the waypoints..

im sorry but this content is over 2 years old now…. and nobody with exception to new players should be making such dumb mistakes like this..

the Teq event is almost always successful because of a small handful of people keeping the turrets alive while the rest of the defense team stand around in one spot farming mobs that don’t even drop loot..

Sorry if this has been asked before or confirmed already.. to be coming or not (I missed that info)

but im curious as to if HoT is going to be adding any new Ranger pets..

Ranger was the first class I played in Gw2 (and in beta) and one of the biggest reasons for that was to collect pets which I found a lot of fun in doing

finding and taming pets is always a fun past time but once you have them all thats that..
Southsun Cove added the Reef Drake which was awesome but since then we have had nothing new..

with the HoT expansion adding a whole exotic jungle area to the game and tons of new races and species.. I think it would be a big disappointment if no new creatures to tame came with the expansion..

with the Servers in the US and EU and combined with the horror stories I’ve heard about the internet in Australia.. I really don’t think Anet can do anything about your problems

Don’t feel bad..

for the first year after the Teq Rising upgrade I did Teq once a day and after that year I started doing him randomly but usually once a week at least

and I’ve never had a Horde chest either

I’ve complained about the terrible RNG in GW2 soo much regarding exotics in the past which are also stupidly rare for me

not 3 weeks ago I farmed over 250 champ bags and got no exotics at all and just around 13 rares..

absolutely pathetic and only reinforces my opinion that Champ loot is a total waste of time and almost completely unrewarding

but I stopped caring about all this a while ago and just stopped wasting my time farming for things I give up on ever dropping

I still do Teq but for the gold
I open Champ bags for Luck and because I can’t sell them which I soo would if I could
if I want money then I just run dungeons and world bosses for the guaranteed rares which I can salvage for Ecto..

there does appear to be a unbalance between peoples accounts in Gw2 though
some people just get better drops and other people get trash… this has not gone unnoticed by me or anyone else that feels cheated by the bad RNG

Thiefs problem is stealth not movement..

why run away when you can just pop out of existence with no possible way of being discovered by another player without a special item they may or may not be carrying

this also applies to Mesmers as well

Stealth has always been an unbalanced mechanic that many people have just found annoying and cheap and this has not changed since the game launched either

100% Map Completion

I have 3 characters with 100% world completion.. several others ranging between 30% and 50% world completion..

I did all this alone thanks to PvE not requiring players to actually team up.. with exception to dungeon content..

I really wouldn’t mind if Anet added some areas to the game that are just full of powerful enemies that would require people to team up to get through it

As far as I am aware there are a lot of traits etc that enhance bleeding, provide bleeding and increase its duration etc.. but not so much regarding burn..

I also like to look at it this way

Necromancer and Guardians both condi capable but weaknesses in each others primary condition

Guardians to my knowledge are far more specialized in burning than they are in Bleeds
and Necromancers are the opposite in which they are heavily bleed focused with little access to burning..

I don’t think these two are stealing glory from one another..

Bleeding tends to have far longer duration than Burn does but a lot less dps..

Bleeding is more of a long term preassure condition where as burn is more of a short term preassure condition..

I do think they need a bit more of a defining trait though..

perhaps Burn could spread to other players..
say if a group of enemies are stacked together then Burn will spread to all enemies within say a 50 distance radious..

this would be a fun mechanic to play since you could in theory cast a bunch of burn on one enemy then knock it back into a crowd and set them all on fire

Vunerability is perfectly fine as it is.. well after the new change that gives conditions access to that dmg increase

there is no need to increase the stack size and it would dramatically increase the dmg players would do if they did..

25% dmg increase is more than enough specially now with both Direct and Condition dmg being counted..

and take into account that Condition specialized characters are going to be overall getting a damage boost you can expect to see a lot more people running Condition builds in PvE and overall seeing a huge increase in DPS done to world bosses and group events thanks to the 25 stack cap being removed and the influx of condi specialized characters doing more damage than they could before

people could DPS world Bosses down like Shadow Behemoth in 2 phases just with Direct damage…

think how much faster his HP is going to drop per second with 100-200 specialized bleeds on him

The Numbers are confirmed to not be final atm so its not quite fair to judge that atm

Necromancers have never had much in the way of party support despite being pretty decent healers if speced for it

If the reaper can tank as well as I hope it can then more power to it
if one reaper can tank so the rest of the party doesn’t have to be in melee range that is party support as far as I am concerned and blasting out AOE chills and keeping enemies stuck in one area to be bombarded with AOE

Chronomancer is indeed great for speeding up a party but the reaper is the complete opposite in that it slows down enemies not only in movement speed but skill recharge..
combine the two and you have a lethal party set up already..

I see a lot of potential in the Reaper

Im running a Hybrid Necro myself.. with Axe Focus secondary weapons set..

this change has crippled my Axe completely..

like my screenshot showcased.. my Sceptor which is a condi weapon does more direct damage than the Axe.. and thats before conditions are applied which only amps that up more..

I might as well switch to full condi if this is a perminant chance and not bother with a secondary weapon at all..

I don’t have much trouble getting stacks of Vunerability up though..
its just the damage feels severely weak now..

It could just be the trait isn’t working.. I don’t know for sure
either way though I feel that right now the Axe is utterly useless for Necromancer.. even more so if its supposed to be this way..

Yeah im hating the new animation as well..
I dunno why that was changed since the older style worked fine..

it could be a problem with the trait.. instead.. I haven’t really noticed much change in attack speed though but I wasn’t really paying attention to that tbh..

it definitely used to do more than my Sceptor at least..

still with 18 stacks of Vun it should be hitting a lot harder than the Sceptor should without any..

I was playing my Necro just now and just noticed that standard Axe attack damage is not right

as you can see from attached screenshot my Axe should base damage at 466 in lvl 80 zones with the damage buff from traits but my critical hits are not even hitting that damage mark.. and thats with 18 stacks of vunerability on the Skrit enemy..

My base Sceptor damage is barely over 208 and crits for over 500 dmg without any vunerability.. again as screenshot provides..

changing the attack animation seems to have bugged the weapon and severely broken the Axes damage

Im not an expert on the games damage mechanics so I’d be grateful if someone who was were to test it themselves and back me up here if I am correct about this so it can be fixed asap..

there is definitely a damage issue here my Axe used to hit a lot harder than this

Well the Consortium near the lighthouse hint that a bridge or gate will be built where LA connects to the ocean

personally I’d like to see a massive structure there that players can walk accross as well
like a massive floodgate
and it will act like a blockade against attacks from the sea but can also open to allow ships in and out of the city
it would be awesome to see ships coming and going from the city as well and also whales and dolphins jumping out of the water out at sea
players can then chill out on the gate and watch wild life playing and ships coming and going

I’d like to see the new LA compliment the original style of LA in Gw1 as well
it was a very beautiful city compared to the shipwreck style of LA in GW2 which to be honest was quite and eyesore when the rest of Kryta is such a beautiful place.. with exception to the Centaur lands since they destroyed it all.. dumb pony people

So I got this mail today
(this is the first time I’ve had anything like this)

Someone claiming to be a GM saying my account will be terminated if I fail to visit a disclosed website

I instantly assumed it was Scam since the notification clearly said this was from a player and not Anet staff

I reported the player but I wanted to make a forum post to let other people know that this is a scam and not to visit any disclosed websites and hand over account information

If you get mail like this report it and do not visit any websites and hand over your account information..

this is whats known as fishing mail designed to get you to willingly hand over your account information so they can raid your account

Finally

I’ve been complaining about those changes for a long time XD

I know a lot of people never cared much for it but im really glad complaints have been taken into account and these changes are coming

swapping the story steps around was a serious issue for me since I get very invested in the story more than anything when it comes to video games..
meeting characters for the first time after just completing a mission with them and honoring friend characters that I never even met was just a big throw off for me..

it really put me off playing the personal story through again..
but im super happy that its finally getting fixed ^^ I can’t wait to start leveling up my other toons once these changes have come into effect

A lot of people want this.. myself included

but I doubt they will.. they would prefer to work on new game content than change older content like this…
even though Zhaitan really did give Elder Dragon a bad name..
after hyping him up soo much it was a colossal disappointment to finally fight him in what can only accurately be described as a glorified pidgeon pooping on a ship battle…

just about every encounter in the game is harder to kill… even Moa Birds…
Zhaitan is just embarassing and I do wish they would go back at some point and really make him impressive and at least a little challenging..

As much as I’ve invested into the Story of Gw2 I think I will honestly stop bothering with Story content if Mordremoth ends up being another embarassing joke of a boss fight..

sorry but when the whole story focus of the game is building up to dull and boring dragon fights then its just anti climactic and a waste of time…

You can fall in from above when the barrier is up
but it requires you to be able to remain on the platform after the event

im not sure if that is possible to do or not but if it is then breaking out of the map is one way of getting up there or the other is to time a jump off before it teleports you down automatically

you can jump from the platform and land in the portal creating a loop
I do this all the time for amusement purposes because im easily amused

but I havent tried using it as a way to stay on the platform so who knows how they did it

I believe you though.. its definitely something I think is possible and someone has worked out how to do

I just got into a convo about all the April Fools jokes Anet has played on us over the years
and frankly I don’t think any of them have topped the Commando Class lol

Between the sheer ridiculousness of it combined with the hilarious dialogue like calling the Shatterer a One Big Chicken before unleashing a swarm of apache helicopters on it
and topping that off with the whole Terminator easter egg quest in GW1 I for one would love to see this continued at some point in GW2 lol

I’ll never forget this one it was just brilliant in every way
please bring it back in Gw2 one day Anet please XD

Well, I just recently unlocked my 28th point today. The Stygian Reaver. I was a little bored and decided to play some original Guild Wars. After hours of solo play, because there’s basically nobody online the first game, I decided to go and grab some of my new rewards. Lo and behold, the GD HoM content is Temp disabled. kittening disappoint! Fix now, fix fast.

Try playing on American servers dude

there is usually a few people running around on there sometimes
but you gotta take in time zones too
try playing GW1 in the evenings which is when its usually more active or early in the day if you are a European player which can be more active too

I bought profaine skin a while back and then lost it due to upgrading armor

if I want that skin again I have to rebuy it which really sucks
it would be nice in regard to skins that once you’ve bought them from the gemstore you can obtain them again for free if you lost them

but its not that big a deal really.. I doubt I’ll buy that skin again anyway

but yeah I enjoy gemstore skins a lot
although I do wish that they would add more free skins to the game from time to time
and for the love of Grenth please put Black Lion Claim tickets up for direct gem purchase..
finding one of them is a kitten nightmare and can take forever to get enough scraps to make one..
or at the very least reduce the scrap requirements to 5..
just obtaining older Black Lion weapon skins is near impossible
either find several claim tickets which is a joke or buy them on the trading post for an obscene amount of money..

Seriously no skin in this game is ever going to be worth blowing that kind of gold…
and I’ve got a Mini Karka for crying out loud.. that thing is worth around 1.600-1.800g its absolutley ridiculous that anything in the game is priced up to an obscene point like that..
hell im uncomfortable with buying and selling anything for more than 100g

Racial skills

And that’s a good thing. They did this to not have a “best” race for a given class/build, so you can pick you class purely for aesthetic reasons. Actually, i’d say racial skills shouldn’t be allowed in WvW the same way they aren’t for PvP.

I would agree with that
as far as I am concerned WvW and PvP are just different game modes of the same thing

if Racial skills only had significance in PvE then making them more useful would be a lot easier

tbh WvW and PvP should have their own variations of skills just like PvP did in Gw1
split the skills again
when a Op skill in WvW gets nerfed PvE players suffer
and when a OP skill in PvE gets nerfed WvW players suffer

its not fair to either party
keep the PvP modes and the PvE mode seperate and split their skills so everyones happy
otherwise they just screw with each other.. fighting other players and fighting mobs are totally different things and no matter how much fine tuning is done there will always be a balance issue on one side or the other

You can use Macros for playing Toys.. its fine
in fact most people use them these days..

a lot of songs are flat out impossible to play without them due to the speed required to chance between high – med – low while maintaining a stable tune

when you see people playing just click on their character and watch the little box flashing rapidly between colours and you will know its a Macro straight away

you can learn to play some songs without them but depending on the complexity of the song it can be either tricky or stupidly hard

I myself can play LoTr theme, Lugias Song, Eponas Song, Song of Storms, Elderscrolls theme, Fear Not This Night
all those I got online that other people had discovered
I also know Metal Gear Solid 2’s main theme and Final Fantasy 10’s Main theme which I discovered myself a while ago.. although both are unfinished
I dunno if anyone else has managed to FF10’s theme but I’ve seen a couple of Macros for MGS.. but at least I take some pleasure in knowing that I found it a while before the Macro was created ^^

with the new Bass Guitar though im gonna look into seeing if I can learn some Metal riffs for it XD

but reincarnation is about being reborn. you die and you are born again on a different body but with the same spirit.

Yeah I know about the reincarnation theory

but it doesn’t work for me personally which is why I never used it
there are many ghosts, undead and other concepts like that in the Gw2 universe but no mention at all of reincarnated heroes
usually in death one goes to the mists
the souls who linger become ghosts or spirits

playing a reincarnation of a Gw1 character is totally fine
it’s very difficult for me personally to work that for myself though..
I found it far easier just to say my current Human characters are decendants
but with my Revenant concept I can bring back my Gw1 character completely

besides a class change which is understandable and possible thanks to Rytlock being proof
there isn’t much to get in the way of me RPing this way
I know some people will say Rytlock is heavy Revenant is heavy.. but that doesn’t matter
the heavy armor in the game is not exactly crazy and Necromancers in Gw1 did wear Metal light armors
if anything its more bizzare that Rytlock went from a hack and slashy stabby stabby class to one that is heavily based around magic and channeling energy

Revenants aren’t Zombies or the Living Dead. Any Revenant created after the return of Rytlock are taught by Rytlock the ways of the Revenant.

by definition they are but Anet have this spin on Revenant
in fact just the name Revenant could implay the Rytlock actually died in the Mists and returned with this new power
in fact I would go so far as to say Rytlock may have given up his life willingly for this power..
he’s consistantly said he will do anything it takes to succeed.. I would not put it past him to sacrifice his original life for this new one and this new power

until we get a actual answer from Anet through that theory is up in the air right now
it would be pretty awesome if it was true though
to become a Revenant you must die first that would make a lot of sense for the Revenant class to come into the game now considering the Dragon of Death is dead..

the Revenant class alone though breaks the game a bit though
in Gw1 adding new classes to the game was done very well
I know Anet don’t want to write in a new story arc for Revenant players but in all honesty they really should have..
it would have made a lot more sense to have a small story instance in the Mists which would end up with your character being thrown back into the world in the past at the begining of the personal story..
with some minor specific changes exclusive to Revenant players personal stories they could have made this work as a big time paradox concept which would not be too farfetched to understand

Racial skills

All I hope is that they learned their lesson about OP faction type skills from GW1 EotN and do not implement those kinds of skills in GW2. The fact that Racial skills are garbage implies they remembered it when they started GW2 design….I hope they remember it with HoT and the Mastery system.

I think having a Mastery for Racial skills would be pretty cool
it would be something you would have to work on to buff those skills but in the long run it would make specialized players able to use Racial skills effectively during the game
this opens up a lot more build diversity which is something the game severely needs right now..
by managing to avoid the problems caused in GW1 by the colossal number of skills added to the game over its expansions they have unfortunately cripled build diversity in GW2 which pretty much leaves most players just running Meta builds and most of the skills accross all professions being completely unused

I know they wanted to make Races a thing based on personal choice but lets be honest here..
it doesn’t matter at all what Race you choose to play..
besides some cultural armors and the first bit of the personal story there is absolutely nothing special about any of the races at all
Norn are Big
Charr are cats
Asura are wierd Yoda things
Sylvari glow in the dark
and Humans just exist

I think its about time we started asking for Races to play just a little more role in how we actually play the game
a Mastery that we have to progress over a period of time that allows us to improve our Racial skills would be something I would be very interested in seeing

my main guild wars 1 character was reincarnated in gw2. because of name reservation that the gw2 beta had.

Yeah I choose not to use that feature because it made no sense that my character would be 250+ years old with a random story out of nowhere

that’s why I created this little RP thing with the Revenant ^^

Tbh the only thing I’d like changed are the summon spells
the durations are far too short.. and the summon itself is more or less useless but the worst thing of all are the cooldowns

for a cooldown like that I expect a perminant duration on my summon..

the Necro Flesh Golem has a what 60 second cooldown, perminant duration and a special skill that causes launch..
yet every other summon creature has a pathetic duration and ridiculous cooldown and the summon itself is about as effective as a paper sword..

at the very very least give them perminant durations even at the cost of some damage if need be

I see some confusion here

but yes as Syrpharon said I am talking about Roleplaying my Gw1 character as a Revenant in GW2 without breaking the games Lore..

The Revenant does not exist in the Vanilla game therefore the events of the Personal Story, Vanilla Dungeons and first 2 years of Living World do not apply to the Revenant class
so choices etc made during the character creation really don’t matter
Rytlock being the first Revenant already throws this out there
Also all characters created after Living world season 1 are already behind on the Lore anyway missing out on the entire Scarlet arc
so really Roleplaying a Gw1 character as a Revenant in Gw2 is hardly as damaging to the Lore as people who missed an entire years worth of story

just playing my personal Story missions on a new character in a ruined LA is enough to throw me off tbh

its quite an easy RP concept to make
After watching the events unfold on Tyria, Great Heroes of the past choose to become Revenants.. powerful warriors of the mists who have bound themselves to flesh once more in order to defend Tyria one last time against its most powerful threat

you can argue why our great Gw1 characters would do this.. well
we defeated the Great Destroyer.. champion of Primordus.. we thought that was the end of that..
Primordus still awoke and simply replaced his champion.. well my Gw1 character is coming back to finish the job and put Primordus in the ground perminantly
this works great for me since I had 4 Gw1 toons that were RP as brothers.. two of which died during the battle with the Great Destroyer xD
so this all works for me from a RP perspective
My main was also a Necromancer which only further encourages a idea for his revival in Gw2
if anyone can figure out a way back from the Mists after 250 years it would be a Necromancer

anyway this is just a idea I have for a Lore friendly RP for Revenants that just works imo
I don’t expect anyone else to understand or even care
I just wanted to share it because this is how I love to play MMO’s
and if by chance there are any Gw1 RP players reading it who like this Idea then they can do the same too if they were planning to RP a Revenant

Players fault..

if you are loosing too much HP to Retaliation then that’s your own fault for not backing off or debuffing the enemy if possible

I play a Zerker Ranger mostly so paying attention to when a enemy buffs with Retaliation is important for me lol
one good Rapid Fire can strip my health from full to almost nothing pretty quick if im not careful

It literally just hit me that the Revenant from a Lore perspective may allow me to revive my Guildwars 1 character

how awesome is that

when I first created my Gw2 characters I decided not to use the same names because of the lore etc
I wanted to keep a sense of roleplaying alive by making my Human characters decendants of my Gw1 characters

as a Revenant which is defined as a being brought back from the dead.. I can bring back those characters without actually breaking the lore

to me this is pretty awesome ^^

is anyone else going to be doing the same?

onto a little speculation though..
does Rytlocks class change to Revenant imply that he actually died?

WvW no longer required for world completion

Unlike many posters here, I don’t believe this decision was meant to remove WvW content from Legendaries, it was made because in some servers it’s really hard for players to get WvW map completion, making it unfair to that crowd.
Claiming that they should now remove PvE content from legendaries is a whole different thing. You still need the Gift Of Battle, but you can get that without setting foot on the mists (unless to buy it).
I believe that both WvW and PvE content should be required for legendaries, so one solution would be, like I commented before, to remove non-WvW sources of BoH.
If your problem is that you’ll get less unexperienced players to kill and boast your self-esteem, it is completely selfish.
If the problem is having less players being introduced to WvW, ANet could go for a whole new incentive system.
Trying to get completion because you need it and being run over by a zerg or instakilled by a roamer by surprise may do more harm than good in terms of incentive.

I agree with everything you said except WvW and PvE should be required for legends..

if anything I think it would be better if you could get legends by exclusively playing one or the other game modes
WvW exclusive players being able to make legends without needing to play PvE and vice versa..
that would be far better imo and could probably be easily doable just by making a few substitute items for legendary recipies

an example of this would be say instead of making gifts that require dungeon tokens in PvE you would need Keep tokens in WvW which you can only obtain by capturing the keep in Eternal Battlegrounds

if they did something like this then WvW players need never play PvE if they don’t want to and PvE players would never need play WvW to obtain legendary weapons
