Not to mention pointlessly wasting time for Forum mods

I get it guys you don’t agree with me
but there is no need to make mock threads and waste forum mod time
even if you are deleting them yourself

it’s still pointless not to mention childish

if you want to mock then do it on my Original post
I don’t care

I see my thread as a valid opinion and had I been able to find a older thread on the subject I would not have started another one
some people are agreeing with me and bringing their own ideas to the conversation
so obviously this is not exactly a dead topic

so if you want to mock at least do it on the original thread so as not to waste forum mod’s time and attention
as well as to not risk punishment against your own account
I doubt they will share your reasoning and sense of humor for abusing the forum threads like this

And yet we automatically assume the worst. Doesn’t seem like it’s the best course of action.

Nothing is ever really guaranteed if you think about it. Something could be planned for, they could intend to do whatever, but the phrase ‘kitten happens’ exists for a very good reason.

Personally, I think until they simply flat out say Cantha, Elona, more giants, or whatever is definitively off the table, we should try to be a tad less pessimistic about it.

Well they haven’t said definitely off the table but they have said they have no current plans so
if there is gonna be Cantha and Elona it will be a very very long way off
and considering how long it took them to make GW2 I assume it will take them a fair bit of time to create the Canthan and Elonan Maps as well
minus the development of the new game engine etc of course but we are still looking at a few years at least considering the living world content etc etc

im just saying that honestly im not expecting them to bring those lands back in Gw2 because of how different the games are and the development time it would take
gw2 does prize itself on having constant and regular updates etc so
designing 2 more worlds is a lot to take on
specially for a no monthly fee MMO that has made no promises of actual expansion packs

Remove WvW from map completion

I have 100% on one character and over the 96% threshold on 2 or others. That said I think there needs to be some adjustment. Mainly, it is not fair to the people who just do WvW to have a bunch of people running around getting POIs etc who are using up the available slots.

I have 100% on my main toon and 99% on another but I also have 8 more Toons which I will have to do this with.. a couple which are already over 60% of the map completion
but you make the same point in that it is not fair for anyone to get WvW map completion
if you are anti WvW you are being forced into a game mode you do not like and you only feed the enemy team when you get destroyed by a mob
and if you are a WvW fan PvE players are only taking up someone elses place when they are completing the map

most of the time running around on their own and not contributing to the server
that is even more prominant when they have say 20 guild members acting as a bodyguard..

World completion in WvW maps benefits absolutely nobody
well except enemy players who are using you as a way to farm loot bags

I don’t play WvW but I find myself drawn to it. It is not a big deal and only 4% of the WHOLE map completion title is in WvW.

that is still 4% you need to get 100% world completion though..

I think instead of offering a huge bunch of easy sponge bosses that only need 3-10 minutes to kill Anet should introduce harder bosses, that take you three to five times as long as before but also give you an increased amount of loot, i think world bosses in general need to be a way harder and utterly epic experience not meant for mindless farming but for proving skill, both personal and as a group.

Therefore my suggestion is to make these fights harder than now (not as hard as teq or wurm, but still a though fight that can fail when badly organised) but also more rewarding with more dragonite ore at the end…

The problem with that is the low number of options to obtain Dragonite ore

I don’t think Bosses need to become harder exactly but more along the lines of more rewarding for completing specific goals while fighting them

this is why I suggested the idea of breaking the Shatterers armor

every broken hitbox rewards you with a bonus chest thus increasing the overall loot
it encourages players to change stratergy for additional rewards instead of just standing there shooting at him from a safe spot (although I admit that safe spot is a flaw and needs to be removed)
players could still just break one of his legs for example and then just keep attacking that one leg to kill him faster but doing so would reduce their reward from say 5 chests to 2 the daily boss chest and 1 bonus for breaking his leg armor along with the big map chest that spawns
why not just aim to get all 5 chests in one battle? specially if they give you some pretty darn good rewards
more rares or exotics or even extra Dragonite Ore

Do the right thing, ArenaNet. Reduce the required amount for the giant slayer achievement or give us hordes of giants to fight, and make the risen undead giants count while you’re at it.

Why do people assume that we will never see more giants in the game? We got whole swaths of map that aren’t even available yet. Not to mention two additional cultural areas from GW1 (Cantha and Elona) that aren’t even show on the existing map, that we are hoping to see return to the game at some point.

Why do people assume that because it’s on the list, its supposed to be achievable ‘right now’? Obviously it is doable, with a lot of effort, but that doesn’t mean it’s not intended as a long term achievement. Anet has listed achievements before that were not immediately attainable.

The problem with that is that we have no promises of more Giants being added to the game
there have been multiple discussions about Cantha and Elona with no signs of them even being considered as possible expansions to the Gw2 game
unfortunately we have no promises at all that Gw2 will ever expand into other continents like Gw1 did and every new map will not promise a significant addition of Giants either

frankly because we know soo little about what is coming in future we can’t assume anything from it

Will the loot dropped always be so abysmal?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teratus.2859

Teratus.2859

Yes, there is DR. The game will stop rewarding you if you keep doing to same thing over and over.

But all games have abysmal loot. It’s the only possible way desirable loot is desirable – because it drops rarely. If it dropped all the time, it would be worthless (lots of supply) and people would complain about the abysmal loot.

How does that work exactly?

say someone who exclusively plays PvE content would that mean my drops get worse for playing only PvE or is it map exclusive or area exclusive etc?

I ask because despite my Magic find I find my drops to be utter junk most of the time
Im lucky if I find a couple of rares a day as random drops instead of guaranteed rares from boss events

and exotics HA im lucky if I find one of them a month.. and no im not joking
my Magic find is 130% right now

My gf who joined the Champ train in Frostgorge managed to obtain 7 Exotics in 1 hour

I spent 7 hours the next day farming the same champ train (something I never do normally) and I found 3 rares…

My Gf then farmed the train again on the same day for another hour finding 4 more exotics
and I’ll note that she has less than 10% Magic Find..

what the hell is up with that?

And one more idea, move the WPs and POIs outside the walls so they could be accessed for completion without have to wait for a groups to take it.
BTW, I have 100% with 2 toons, so I have done, didn’t like it, but it’s done.

That is actually a compromise that I would be perfectly happy to live with

that way I would not need to wait months for teams to change to the colours i need
nor would I have to request 50+ people to help me take a fort etc on the other side of the map

Whether he wants it for legendary or for Map Completion, every person in the game at some point or the other finds a particular aspect of it to be difficult. That does not mean that he/she should ask it to be removed from the game.

WvW map completion is not too difficult. If you are having trouble reaching points like the enemy keep…just wait for the map colors to change. Have patience. Don’t ask a feature to be changed just because you are in a hurry. You may not need to fight a single person to get all points/vistas if u wait.

Besides I feel Anet already makes too many concessions for the “Casual” gamers.

Just to calrify I do not find the WvW content difficult
I have learned how to play it.. well what little there is to learn
stack on commander and just DPS the crap out of people.. hardly skill
I know what im doing though and my builds are designed to solo pretty much anything in PvE
so fighting against other people is not difficult
fighting against 50 people on my own though is just suicide thus the point of all this
regardless of how good my build is nobody can take on a whole mob of players
even if they can go 1 on 1 with some of the games Legendary class bosses and a large majority of Champions

im not requesting they remove map completion from WvW because WvW is difficult
im requesting it because WvW is boring and annoying content to me that has absolutely no reason to be part of the world completion since that is generally a PvE feature and WvW is not PvE

and waiting for your team to change colours is something that took me 5 months to do with my first toon as I mentioned in another post

as some have also said those on low player servers are screwed the most since they get dominated in WvW every single seasons and find completing the map almost impossible
thankfully my server is not having that issue though

the only thing difficult about WvW to me is convincing a group of 100 people to help me capture 1 PoI or Vista on the other side of the map in enemy territory
asking them to risk their lives, money and stacked buffs for my own selfish need to get 1 little PoI
not only is that difficult but it is selfish and unfair on everyone who is awesome enough to agree to do it just for me or someone else who asks

If you don’t do WvW then I don’t think you deserve a legendary…
Legendary weapons are legendary for a reason, people who make them do everything.

he never said a thing about legendary. I remember an old saying that claimed that Guild Wars was all about completionism, and I believe OP wants the 100% world completion not because of the gifts of exploration, but because of the medal, the title, the achievement and the feeling of completion

Very much so

I am also a long time Guildwars 1 player who managed to obtain Grandmaster Cartographer without the use of texmod

I had a similar problem with the required pvp zones in Gw1 too although since that was just team based and little more than running around the outside of the map it was not that difficult to get and overall not really enough to make me want to complain about it

WvW in Gw2 however requires runing from point A to B to C to D and on and on and on meanwhile there are forts that require you to convince a decent number of people on your team to help you capture, Keeps that require a even bigger number of people to capture and at the same time there are hundreds of players on the same map who want to kill you

as for your statement about wanting 100% completion just for the feeling of completion that is exactly right

completing 100% of the PvE map to be lefts with like 96% of the world completion is just annoying

it is also unfair to include WvW maps into World completion but not the PvP ones
why does PvP get excluded and not WvW..

Heart of the Mists has Poi’s etc so why don’t they count too?

Just to point something out: there are many people that only ever want to play WvW because that is the game type they enjoy playing, yet they HAVE to go into PvE to get the maps and mats necessary to get their legendaries and map completion. Is it fair for them to have to do PvE content? Honest question for you OP.

Not at all I actually agree with you on that

have it my way I would have made PvP gear usable in WvW instead and simply had WvW as a second form of PvP content

that being said it is possible to get the mats and levels etc from playing WvW since level 1
however there are exclusive PvE skins you must obtain through dungeons etc so if you want them you must play the content
but it is just easier to obtain all that from PvE than WvW

this is actually one of the benefiets of the new Wardrobe system

Legendary weapons are legendary for a reason, people who make them do everything.

Im not actually doing WvW for legendaries
Im doing it because I want 100% world completion on my characters

I have no interest in Legendaries because I find nearly all the skins to be ugly
there are a couple I would not mind having but the ammount of work required to get them doesn’t seem worth it to me

there are plenty of other Skins that I like more than Legends
Condition dmg Ascended Sceptor for example looks a million times better than the Legendary Sceptior which looks just stupid to me

there is also the case that seeing countless players with Legendaries on a daily basis completely devalues them to me
they are not rare anymore nor do they seem valuable to me
I would take Wings of Dwayna over Kudzu anyday because it is far rarer to see it thus more valuable to me

I understand and applaud your right to state your opinion and ask for a change, but this has been beat to death on the forums to date.

The developers have stated that the reason they require it is to encourage players to try WvW and they hope you like it and continue doing it. Maybe they’ll change it at some point, but I believe that is unlikely.

In before everyone else who is going to tell you to suck it up and just do it.

I’ve been doing it trust me

but no ammount of forcing me into WvW is going to make me want to play it
the way I see it is the content is boring, lacking in any kind of player skill and just plan annoying

capturing parts of the map requires a large number of players and if they are not interested in capturing that one keep you need then you are out of luck and most of the time stuck waiting until the teams switch and just hoping you end up on the colour you need to get that final Poi etc

my first character going for world completion was stuck waiting around 5 months before my server was given the Red Team so I was able to get my last 2 Poi in eternal Battlegrounds which also took me a few hours to que up for as well

I assumed I was not alone with this subject but I did search for it before making the thread but I could not find another thread about it

the problem is that not everyone is going to enjoy WvW and those of us who don’t
get very annoyed by being forced in there and serving as little more than food for enemy zergs
we are not geared or set up for WvW thus we are little help to our team and do more damage by feeding our enemy’s kills

forcing people into WvW is not going to make them enjoy the content no matter how much they are forced to play
if anything it’s just going to annoy people even more if they don’t want to be there

The title stands for itself

honestly I am tired of it
I am not someone who plays WvW content and when I do I find it severely annoying and entirely lacking in entertainment

im just not into PvP

WvW is treated more like PvE than PvP which makes no sense at all considering its PvP content
I am requesting that the Map Completion be removed from the WvW maps so that 100% map completion will be gained once all PvE maps are completed

there is no need to force everyone into WvW to play content we do not like or enjoy and those who do enjoy it are probably sick of us lesser equipped players taking up place on the map.. and nagging people in the chat to help us capture that last Poi or Vista..

its non beneficial for everyone and its annoying for everyone who enjoys WvW and for those of us who absolutely hate WvW
there is nothing fun about running accross a map alone and getting utterly destroyed by 50+ players
not to mention having to complete 3 maps that are pretty much identical..

please just remove WvW maps from world completion
it will benefit everyone in the end whether you are a WvW fan or not

I have to agree with this post

Giant Slayer is just rediculous
at the very least Risen Giants should count I agree with that
although I would prefer them to replace Giant Slayer with something better like Primordus Bane and change the counter to Destroyers or something since they are much easier to find and hunt

Giant slayer just requires too much farming of a enemy that has too little pressence in the world

I don’t see how this has given people headaches but then again im not questioning that

what I don’t understand is why people are soo angry about it

im assuming most of these people did not play guildwars 1 because those who did would have expected a April fools joke

The Bobbleheads are not exactly funny per se but more a case of just something silly to cause amusement
and it works I’ve had many a chuckle this morning running around with one
its simply a one day prank and a minor one at that
but I agree that people have a very diminished sense of humor these days
this does not break gameplay at all as far as I can see and re logging turns it off
the only valid complain I’ve seen is that WvW cannot be played without it.. but again its just one day people its not a big deal..

The shatterer simply needs to be adjusted so people need to use the mortars and super buggy cannons (please fix those)

Other than that, it’s a simple rebalance that healing mortars are needed, and that safe spots are more or less removed. (Spawning adds doesn’t quite help in higher scalings.)

Also dynamic scaling where the lower scalings (5- 30 people) stays about the same.

That’s the general idea of what im going for

not scaling the difficulty but offering more rewards for using different tactics
and mainly removing the safe zone spot that just makes this boss cheap and broken

example You wouldn’t have to break all his body armor but doing so would give you more reward chests
breaking all of them would require the use of Cannons and motars along with people using more skills than just their auto attack

but removal of the safe spots is a must
it’s the main thing that removes all fun from this boss encounter

You’re very correct Nage, people have no patience. Many don’t even seem to know what it is anymore. They forget that Rome was not built in a day. The same goes for any form of entertainment, video games especially.

People must take into account that unlike more traditional MMO’s Gw2 does not rake in a colossal sum of cash every month thus allowed gigantic development teams to work the way the do

its simply a trade off that we have to live with

I much prefer to play Guildwars 2 and wait for these kind of improvements instead of being forced to pay a monthly subscription fee and get them sooner

at least I wont have my game rights removed when I can’t afford a monthly sub that one week

What the problem really is, is simply people feel too entitled and ask for too much in too short a time frame
Guild wars 2 gives you hell of a lot for a one time purchase MMO

In 2007 A prank swapped everyones character Genders around in Gw1
2008 everyone was turned into a stick figure
2009 everyone had their avatar turned into a anime Gwen also known as Gwen Chan
2010 Player size and minipet size was swapped around
2011 a Epic Terminator style quest was added to Gw1 where you play as a commando soldier from the future sent back in time to Rescue Sarah(Gwens Mother) from a Time traveling Golem
2012 a second Terminator quest titled Searing Day where you must rescue Gwen from a time traveling Golem
2013 onward the Terminator quests come back each year
and on April first 2013 the Super Adventure Box was announced for Gw2

just remove that one safe spot and he’ll be hard enough – no need to put him on steroids. have you ever tried fighting him while not standing there? it hurts a lot. I fear they’ll remove the spot and triple his damage at the same time. while we’re at it, it would be nice if those turrets actually helped. currently they deal about the same damage as someone’s autoattack. so it’s not beneficial to guard them or even keep those turrets alive. triple their damage and people will actually want to use them and people will defend them instead of mindless attacking.
p.s. Phantasmal Berserker on his head is glorious.

That’s more or less what I really want
my OP was just highlighting an idea I thought would make the boss more fun and more rewarding
but overall the main focus of this thread was to highlight how much of a broken boss he really is and how badly it needs some attention

a lot of people have assumed im calling for a huge rework that would make shatterer stupidly hard to kill but I don’t want that either
many are saying the harder content is deserted and I agree with them
although I don’t agree that the content is as hard as they claim though
it just requires you to learn what to do
the 3 headed wurm is the only exception due to needing a lot of communication
Teq on the other hand is super easy
Gw2 does have a problem with people simply giving up on content if they cant do it though I have noticed that and its why these events are deserted on most servers

What I want to gain from this thread is simply a new Shatterer experience that is more rewarding but without making Shatterer super difficult

the mechanics of breaking his limbs were just to give players more reason to attack them to get more reward chests instead of just standing there auto attacking his one leg

Perhaps the Team system would be better to take advantage of in Pve

Granted there are no PvE restrictions and nobody wants to make a guild just for friends..

How about a second party like system called group or utalize team in PvE
It would act like Party but without showing the player tabs
each player would be able to use the teamchat or a new groupchat tab
you can see all your members on the map

granted this would not effect and of the games current mechanics but it would allow you to play with larger groups of friends in PvE without needing to use any local chats or spam guild chat

here’s where you all fail just because you find content easy or simply want harder content doesnt mean those who enjoy said content should be punished to please you
you want harder content sute you can have it but why not ask for harder content instead of screwing everyone up by making the game harder for everyone overall

if people wanna be so hardcore so badly they should go petition for a darksouls MMO

There is a big difference between easy content and broken content

nobody here is calling for Shatterer to make three headed wurm look as easy as Shadow Behemoth
you fail to undesrtand what im suggesting

we need new mechanics and rewards to make the battle more enjoyable
nobody finds standing in the same spot autoattacking for 10 minutes fun and those who say they do are either lying or just can’t be bothered to adapt to changing content

if you are against changing content then you are playing the wrong kind of game
MMOS are always changing with every update

I don’t see this as changing a boss and making it harder
I see this as fixing a boss with a severe broken design

players used this tactic on countless bosses over the time this game has been out and each time it was patched
you could stand on a platform and snipe dungeon bosses down all the time back in the day
cant anymore
specific Champs had the same issue and all of these things were patched

why should Shatterer be an exception when he suffers from the same cheap tactic?
stand on a spot he cant attack you from and chip away at his hp till he dies..

this is what people call a broken boss

I too am on the SFR server and at least once a day there is a Teq run which normally has little to no organization because everyone already knows what to do now

What time is that at? is it at the same time each day? PM me! In game or out would be lovely.

… although I suspect that’s one of the problems. Players should be able to turn up to any of the events of this nature with other players without having to co-ordinate the time.

Although I agree Tequatl isn’t actually that kittence you know what you’re doing, and someone’s running the show if necessary (just to ensure people are where they should be, etc.), it’s rather disheartening to run across something like an empty playing field – and if our server just does it once a day, it’s a drag on resources and disappointing if the time you can make it isn’t the time the server is doing it.

I’ll add you and contact you ingame nextime I see you online

Really? I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Never have I seen a game rip you off more than GW2. I mean $100 a month on average to access all the games content… I’d gladly pay a pitiful $15 a month for the same privilege with the added bonus of the devs not purposefully designing inconveniences into the game to sell you stuff.

I’m more inclined to agree with your post.

For a game that has a “cosmetic end-game”, it’s pretty lame that it revolves around the Gem Store. Essentially all of the new weapon and armor skins are locked behind a gem purchase, and the drop rate on Silver Transmutation Stones is so low that you’re often forced to buy or convert gems in order to update your appearance.

I get that they need to make money somehow and that this game is not a charity, but I still feel as if the focus on the Gem Store is far too strong.

The Gem store isnt required though and you can use your in game gold to buy the cosmetic things you want

that’s a fair compromise imo
and its not like they don’t give you free Gems as a reward for hitting a 5k achievement point benchmark either

Granted I agree that a little less Gem store focus would be nice but I would much rather contribute to an optional Gemstore than be forced to pay a monthly fee for a game I bought for over £100
why?

because at least Gw2 doesnt make me feel forced to play it once I’ve paid my monthly subscription
nor does GW2 essentially perma ban me unless I give them money either once my subscription runs out

with Gw2 I can play it anytime, anywhere and I never have to spend a single penny on it once I’ve payed for the game if I don’t want to

with other MMOs its give us money or you cant play anymore and I do not approve of this model
specially when financially the world is a mess right now and in an unfortunate situation say loosing a job or having your income cut is bad enough without having your favorite game come along and say oh you can’t afford to pay your subscription this month? oh well sucks to be you give us a call when you become worthy to play me again…

GW2 takes peoples financial situation into account
its a game for everyone no matter what situation they are in
and its better for the community as well

I’ve got friend in warcraft who always used to complain about a planned Raid getting cancelled because 2 of their best party members got fired and couldn’t play until they found another job
or someones Pc broke down and they had to put money away for a new part thus having to cancel Wow Subscription for a few weeks to do that
granted these are uncommon but they cannot happen with gw2

sub fees are just a user unfriendly model and Gw2 proves that there are alternatives that work
and they work well too

Repair canisters

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

They are still useful, but kind of annoying to use.

As they are now, people has to remember to carry them around. And some people ends up never using them.

If they had a menu option, like an account-wide small panel you can access from the top tool bar they would be a bit more useful, as they’ll be readily available from anywhere.

Who wouldn’t be more tempted to use a canister when they are inside a fractal and don’t have to go get them in the bank or do the logout trick to go repair in town?

Oh, and boosters could have a revamp too.

You never know if you’ll need to do something different. Pop a gathering booster, gather for 10 minutes, get called for a dungeon… all the rest of the time wasted. Because of that, using some of the boosters is a gamble.

Boosters should instead add to an account-wide pool that adds up to the effect, instead giving time. So an XP booster would give you a fixed amount of potential bonus XP based on your level, let’s say +200% the total exp required for you to level up, and whenever you gain XP, you have 50% more, and that 50% extra is discounted from the pool. For example, A booster gives you +100.000 bonus XP to an empty pool, when you gain 1000XP, you’ll get +500XP because of the 50% bonus exp effect, and 500XP are discounted from your pool, which is now 999.500XP.
Now it doesn’t matter how long you take to kill the next thing, the XP is still waiting there.

And their effects should be toggleable on demand, so you can disable your XP booster while playing with someone that doesn’t have then if you want to stay around the same level with your partner characters.

You could them just use up all your boosters to fill your pools, and then decide with which characters you want to use the effects by toggling them off when needed (they’ll be on by default).

This could be appied to all boosters except those that behave like the Killstreak Experience Booster. Those would remain timed and one-use like the other consumables, still from the account-wide special consumable panel.

HA I love this

I’ve opened soo many Black Lion chests since launch I am overflowing with bosters repair canisters revival orbs and all sorts of black lion junk

I’ve got an entire bank tab full of black lion tools and another full of bosters and black lion items
i’ve barely touched them since I put them there..
I keep forgetting about them which is mainly why i’ve not used them so i’ve just been hording them

A New Shatterer experience

Some of you might not believe this but “Shatty” has already been buffed once, not long after launch. He used to be easier.

While I agree that a world boss (especially a dragon!) should be difficult, I think ramping it up to Teq and Tri-Wurm difficulty is going overboard. I think instead the dragon should be given a number of difficult (not impossible) buffs that can be removed by players working together—-but rotate them so only one or two would be active during a given fight, and make that rotation random so players never quite know what to expect. Same with his attacks. Tough, but not impossible.

I know such a redesign would take a lot of work on the part of devs, but it would also make any world boss exciting and fun to fight again.

Yes he got a big HP buff and a defensive buff and he also got a timer but that was all really

in a way I wish they didn’t bother doing that as he became a more boring boss afterwards

standing on the hill tactic is still being used and is still the easiest way to kill him
only now it takes a lot longer

a boring 3 minute battle has now become a 10 minute mega boring one

Shatterer doesn’t need a Hp buff or a damage buff he needs new mechanics and rewards that encourage more strategic gameplay
this doesn’t mean he needs to be made stupidly difficult either like the three headed wurm or even Teq level
but some new mechanics are in dire need

The only way it will work is if Anet adds “special drops” to each boss like for example tequatl drops his own set of ascended weapons, if they make special drops from each boss people will do them. Today i tried doing tequatl and since in my server no one does it i had to guest to Jade quarry i got put into overflow, then i guested into blackgate and same result, and the overflow ended up failing by alot. The only reason to do it right now is for rares and a very miniscule chance to get a precursor, do you think a really hard fight where you have to coordinate like tequal and have to go through the trouble to get people in team speak is worth 2 rares? i don’t think so.

I suggested adding new Shatterer themed weapons as possible reward in my original post

The problem with teq for newer players to the content is not knowing what to do
a tip for Tequatl though is to go to a nearby map then guest
get a party on the teamspeak you are using then enter the map
it is the easiest and most effective way to get onto the correct server when there are overflows

also successfully defeating Teq and completing all defense stages yeilds 6 chests total
Daily boss Chest
4 scaled chests Fine, Masterwork, Rare and Exotic
as well as the Big Boss chest that spawns on the map

very fitting reward for a Dragon Champion
My goal with this thread though is not to make Shatterer a stupidly hard boss but just to increase the enjoyment and reward of the content

currently Shatterer is nothing but a pretty dragon you can stand next to and autoattack for 10 minutes without being in any threat of taking damage

My idea is to introduce a level of stratergy to encourage more rewards thus encouraging players to play the content differently
Shatterer doesn’t need to be harder but he does need some much deserved TLC from the developers

Personally I’d redesign the other elder dragon champions (Claw of Jormag and Shatterer) to have tequatl level difficulty, but the rest of the bosses should be relatively easier. I’d keep the level 15 bosses (frozen maw shaman, shadow behemoth, jungle wurm and fire elemental) how they are now and buff other fights until they’re a little harder (I’d say golem mark II is a good yardstick for difficulty)

The Golem is a good boss although playing a Ranger makes him a joke
sitting outside his attack range just shooting him is a little dull and the only time you need to dodge is when he does his big pound AOE knockback

granted there are not that many classes with the range to do this so overall I have no issues with this boss

Shadow Behe needs a little reworking though.. just because he is severely weak
I’d be happy with just a HP buff on him
right now Maw Champion has about 6 times Behemoths HP which is pretty laughable

No one does teq because no one probably knows how, or doesnt feel comfortable leading it. It’s not hard to do. Once you know the very basics of fighting teq, all it takes is getting people together and them willing to listen.

Wurm doesnt get done very often simply because it requires far harsher cooperation than teq.

You are absolutely right

At first Teq was a challenge but after a few months people knew what they were doing and you didn’t even need to use Teamspeak anymore

a lot of people still attack the Teq content but honestly it’s not even close to as challenging as the Three Headed wurm

Teq can now be done with as little as 80people with no Teamspeak so long as everyone knows what they are doing

Shatterer doesn’t need to be difficult but he does need some new mechanics to stop people sitting next to him auto attacking and doing nothing more

Fire elemental for example is a far harder boss just because of its AoE and its vortexes
and that is a lvl 15 zone boss lol

Whereas I think it’s cool to up the difficulty on content such as the Shatterer, there’s likely still a sizeable population who are happy with how it is. I’ve read Anet have said no to raid instanced content, but it’s the absolute best way to deal with this. People are making dedicated guilds as it is to run Tequatl and the Wurm; it’s not beyond the imagination to suggest they’d keep those guilds for raid content as well. Leave the normal everyday for those who are happy; give the higher difficulty to those who want it and hopefully everyone’s still smiling.

I’m currently sitting at the Tequatl event on SFR, as it happens. I saw one dead player, and that was it. The mighty Taco is sitting behind a wall, “attacking.” I’d hate for all events of this nature to be so deserted. Here, have some screenies to enjoy, including one of the beastie playing at Cloverfield:

I too am on the SFR server and at least once a day there is a Teq run which normally has little to no organization because everyone already knows what to do now

Teq is no longer difficult
neither is the wurm for that matter although Wurm runs are much rarer

the problem is that people are just too lazy to learn how to play the content so they just don’t bother

My Idea for shatterer is not so much to upscale his dificulty dramatically but just to introduce new ways to make the fight more enjoyable than standing on a hill immune to damage and just leaving autoattack do all the work for you for about 10 minutes

The Shatterer is a severely broken boss which is why I want him to be reworked and why I suggested offering reward chests based on how many sections of his body were broken during the fight

I know people will complain about Shatterer getting reworked but I do not agree with them based on their reasoning
they just want to stand there and zerg it down for easy loot
this is not how boss battles are supposed to be played
and from a lore perspective the Shatterer is a colossal fail because of the cheap tactic players have been using since launch
he’s a Elder Dragon Champion for crying out loud.. yet he is easier to beat than the Fire Elemental and the Shadow Behemoth (just takes longer)

I understand that a lot of players can’t be bothered with super difficult bosses which is why im not suggesting Shatterer become one
but I am suggesting that the Shatterer become a more rewarding boss when players fight him using tactics and stratergy instead of mass stacking in a safe spot then going afk for 10 minutes

It’s a good thing :P Zerkers are OP anyway and they are killing this game
Zerker only dungeons and fractal groups are full of elitist players

quitting the dungeon if one person gets downed and refusal to take players who are either new or not set up the way they want them to be

Im glad Zerkers are getting a little nerf
maybe it will teach the elitist players how to dodge and stop blaming other people for getting them killed

Lol Im too much of a White Knight player

I would always send accidently sent stuff back
I always report exploits and bugs
I always report players who are using Bots or hacks when I catch them
I always report players who spam mail and gold selling websites sent to me via mail
I always help out friends and sometimes randoms if they are short on money or items when I have a lots to spare

Im just nice like that

So I tried Wildstar and I missed playing GW2

Gw2 has no monthly fees
that’s what sells me on this game

I completely rufuse to support subscription based games as they are nothing more than a colossal rip off

Gw2 proves you can make a superb high quality MMO and not extort money from your fanbase every month

I would never have gotten into MMO’s or online gaming for that matter if it was not for Guildwars 1 and its no monthly fee policy

don’t feel too bad they are just skins
at least both of your Legendary Daggers will have swappable stats on the flay and will still be classed as Legendary

a lot of people will be running around with twilight but with lvl 30 stats..

yes I agree this does devalue Legendary skins but really they were not that impressive to me anyway

I see tons of Legends every day just by running around the maps

I had this Idea today while fighting The Shatterer

When Fighting The Shatterer everybody just stands around next to his right leg on a small hill where they are completely immune to any damage from the Dragon

I’ve been thinking that it’s about time players should be encouraged to fight him differently

My Idea pays homage to the Monster Hunter series in that it would be awesome If we could actually break off pieces of The Shaterers body thus making certain parts of his armor weaker or his attacks do less damage etc
His legs have large crystals that could be broken off and his tail looks like something that would be fun to cut off

The Idea is that each part of the Shatterer that is broken/damaged grants a bonus chest at the end of the battle, much like Tequatl does when you complete the defensive phases and those Bonus Chests would have a chance to drop unique Shatterer Themed Weapon skins or new Crafting Materials unique to specific body parts that you can use to make them

The Shatterer currently has 4 Targetable hit markers
His Left and Right Front Legs, His Head and His Tail while he is flying
Breaking each of his Legs and cutting off his Tail would be required to get the additional 3 Bonus chests while a 4th chest could be added for breaking his face armor

granted this would mean he would need a work over similar to what Tequatl got with new mechanics and environmental weapons like the cannons near the waypoint would need to be used and I doubt many players would complain about that either considering how much better Tequatl got after his upgrade

Currently The Shatterer is a very dull and simple boss fight which requires no effort or strategy
it is unfitting of kralkatorrik’s Champion to be this much of a pushover as well as being such a harmless boss

The Shatterer is easily the Most visually impressive boss in the game no doubt about that so I really hope that fighting him can be improved in the future to make it a more enjoyable experience

I just wanted to share my idea on one of the ways I think The Shatterer could be improved and become a more entertaining boss battle

To make easy money in a casual way you may want to skip the dungeons. The farming PUG groups there usually require you to know the dungeon, be fairly well equipped, and aren’t really forgiving if you screw up. If your guild runs dungeons you’ll likely be fine, though.

Running the champ trains is much simpler. Find the train, kill the champ, port around the map with them to next champ. You may not get to a champ in time initially, but after 2, 3 go-arounds you’ll know the order and then the gold just keeps rolling in.

Temple events, major bosses and dragons are similarly relaxed. Go to one of the websites that shows when they are up and port there for some quick silvers, some rares and ascended mats.

I wouldn’t rely on champ farms..

tried that myself many times and the loot they drop is complete garbage 99% of the time
even with near 200% magicfind

The only thing to avoid when looking for dungeon groups are elitist parties which are easily identified as Zerker only groups
best to avoid them all the time as it’s always someone elses fault when they fail to dodge an attack and get themselves killed
these are always the kind of people who will abandon a run if 1 person gets downed
it’s pathetic really

best to just host your own party and make sure you are the first person in the dungeon
doing that gives you the ability to add people if someone decides to be a jerk and quit
so long as you own the dungeon instance (by being the first on in) you have security knowing that everyone else can leave but you will not have to start over again with a new group

Legendary are already meaningless

I don’t know what people’s problem is with this either though tbh

this tournament will not be around until the new update that is going to make a lot of current builds less effective anyway

new traits new sigil and rune reworks new mechanics

everyone is going to have to tweak their build before jumping back into a pvp match anyway

if anything the people who manage to create super effective new builds and win the tournament are deserving of getting this Legandary reward imo

a simple case of who can adapt to the changes and make the most of them the quickest and then have the skills to master these new builds asap

Where is everyone?
