I just saw these and thought they were hilarious.
I guarantee that if Tengu are made playable this would be mine
Hawk N Dove
I am just going to place this here
I know that I joked about the capability of someday having a collaboration between GW2 and Shapeways.
That being said I think a lot of us would purchase items / models from such a venture.
I could see GW2 setting up a page at Shapeways where a series of models would be available to have printed. (At a mark up of course)
How about the ability to put together a Chess set based upon Game models.
Rook – Zojja or Brahmm
Knight – Caithe or Rox
Bishop – Logan or Kasmeer
Queen – Eir or Marjory
King – Rytlock or Canach
Pawn – Quaggan or Pale Reavers
Of course the other side of the board would be based upon the Undead or Mordremoth’s minions.
Also, I could see being able to have printed armor dummies with various sets of armor to put on display, not to mention weapon pieces.
Of course we would all love the opportunity to have our characters printed but we understand the difficulty in that.
I think that if it was done with the understanding that the end user would have to put them together as a model and do any touch up needed that this would be a hit.

Cough, Cough, possible collaboration between GW2 and Shapeways?
Please, please, pretty please with a Sylvari head on top.
Seriously though, awesome job!
Back in Beta there was an option available for HiRes screenshots.
That option does not seem to be coming back.
So here is the question.
What software do you fellow Tyrian’s use to create / capture hires shots?
Sorry but I had to
Good Evening!
I am looking to hire someone for a 3D commissioned work of my GW2 Characters.
I did some research and there are a few articles running around on how to do what I want with 3dsmax. After reading the articles, and seeing that this will probably be a onetime only project it makes more sense to pay a professional then for me to flounder around trying to learn it myself. Besides that who knows this may lead to more work coming your way as I will be showing off your work.

Notes:
My apologies for the many requirements and caveats, I just want to be clear of what I am looking for. If what I am requesting is above and beyond, not possible, or is against the Eula please don’t crucify be just let me know. As I do not do 3D rendering I am unaware of what is and what is not feasible. This is just meant to be a fun project and one that I can show you off to the forums.
Thank you for your time,
The Last Jagaroth
Thank you so much!
Good Morning!
In the current iteration of our API’s is the Order that our characters belong too captured?
Thanks,
Jag
Good Morning!
Maybe I am just missing it but is there a way to disable the popup tool tips for your weapon and slot your skills?
After three years I no longer need to see what effect the skill has before I click on it
Thank You,
Jag
FYI – Revs can still use their Speed Boost when caring the Orb
Another fun idea would be to let users choose their mini as a mail delivery option.
or
Rangers being able to use their pets
I think that this is a fun idea.
However, as far as the bank tab is concerned you can already do this just create a guild and call it the xxxxxx family.
As far a divorce goes any family shared item would be vendered and the money divided.
Anyway, neat idea
Ok well I guess I just think this would be harder than it may truly be. I still think that level cap what ever that be should include items of completion along with the XP gains. Thank you all for your thoughts
I’m not a fan of the idea.
It’s inevitable that people will grind it out just for the rewards. Carrot on the stick. PvE content is already easy enough as it is in Exotics, players don’t need the stat increase from additional levels. Being able to upgrade gear is also not a great idea, even with severe limitations.
Getting to max level is the journey if players took time with it; it can be as epic as you want it to be. The only benefit of max level is getting the best gear (Exotic, Ascended is situationally better) and being able to do content quicker. That doesn’t mean you can’t do content as a lower level player with lower tier gear.
You made my point exactly it is too easy to grind to max cap. Please look at the link i provided you will see that in conjuration with xp there is also karma requirements, achievement requirements (both pvp and pve) and skill point requirements
All players should be able to reach max level.
Due to down scaling leveling past 80 would be pointless under method. You’d just be down scaled back to level 80.
And no easy button for making Ascended or Legendary. It needs to be about the same amount of time, money, and effort for getting either tier as they currently are.
I did not think about the down scaling so yes that would be an issue. As far as legendary is concerned this is by far a harder path to it. Please look at the link to see an idea of how long it would take to complete.
Greetings!
In every MMO I have played there has been a gear grind and I am so thankful that GW2 is not that way. However, I understand that people love the feeling of advancing their character and that people want to set there toons apart from others. With the game now being over two years old and you hear whispers in the wind regarding possible “expansion” I thought it would be a good opportunity put in my two cents in regarding advancement levels past 80.
One thing that has bothered me regarding MMO’s, even here is how easy it is to get to level cap. XP = level and that is fine up to a point. However, I have always felt that the progression of the character should supersede that of gear progression. I have always felt that reaching level cap should be more complex, more involved, more legendary and require more than just XP. To me level cap should be an epic journey. Why should we expect all players to hit level cap? Do all players get legendries? Do all players get ascended armor? No, but can work for it and achieve it if you want to. Why should not leveling be the same way?
The thought process behind my idea is very similar to the GW1 heritage rewards that some have completed. In order for you to get the title “God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals” you had to very nearly complete every event, almost every single achievement in the game and I feel that if past 80 level advancement was conducted this way that this would be our true end game and our story. The point of this is to take years to complete. Just so we are clear, for this to work all content would still be written for lvl 80 so that old and new content does not become irreverent. Yes, advance levels will make some content easier but it would not be required to play new content and considering how long it would take to get to these levels and that getting to these levels would require completing most of the content anyway this issue should be null. Below is a very ruff example of how I in vision this working.
Please note that events like WvW and SPvP would be still capped at 80 for balance.

As you can see this list is not flushed out it needs A LOT of work and discussion but does give an example of how it could be structured. Also, I see this working in a conjunction with a Personal Story for each of the 5 main level points 81, 85, 90, 95 & 100. I believe that this would be a great way to advance without instituting “gear or Level” grind. FYI, this is meant to be hard, this is meant to be only for those who want this. We all want to be legendary but remember “When everyone is super no one is”
Q: Convert armor from one level to another?
A: This ability would work like the crafting backpacks and would be account bound. At level 95 you would be able to take a masterwork helm + mats to Ascended but you would not be able to sell the item. You could however salvage them for the mats.
Q: Does this progression mean new tiers of armor would be added?
A: No the stat increase would only come from your personal progression.
Q: You mentioned converting Ascended to Legendary does this mean that the only way to get legendary armor is to be level 100?
A: No it is just an alternate path.
Q: What if I do not want to make this journey, will I still be able to play “end game” content?
A: Yes, all content would stay at the current level.
Q: Would being level 100 help me in PvP or WvW?
A: No, for balance the cap for these would still be level 80.
Q: Did you come up with this because you are already mostly there?
A: No. I am at 5500 Ac, Level 20 WvW, ankitten ot dungeon master. I have always felt this way with MMO’s and I think that something like this is truly the way to go.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Greetings,
Just a sugestion but I think that if you were to add rare and exotic transmutation stones to the Gem Store they would sell like hot cakes.
Rare Transmutaion Stone:
Usage – Allows you to switch the looks between two items without destroying either.
Example – You have two pieces of armor that you do not want to lose the look of. Or you have a skin that was either bought in the Gem store or purchased during one of the events that you do not want to loose. Either way you could switch the look of the armor that has the stats you want to keep with a gray item then use a fine transmutaiton stone to apply the new look you want as normal.
Exotic Transmutation Stone:
Usage – This would allow you to apply the look of one item on several different ones.
Example – You switch armor and weapons alot for dungeons but want to keep the same look. Say you want to keep the look of your T3 for your different builds this would allow you to do so with out haveing to buy mutiable T3 sets.
Just something to think about.
Thank you,
The Last Jagaroth
I tell you what I would like to see a GW2 linux distribution.
debian back end that is tuned to play GW2.
Load it onto a USB3 thumb drive or portable hard drive and boot to it when you want to play where ever you are.
It could then be modified to the individuals needs (Mumble, Vent and other tools could be added)
Just a thought
Outstanding!
Great Job!
The Norn of the Season!
If they ever implement player housing I would like to see them sell in the BLT window shop mannequins.
You could place them around your “House” and then dress them with your gear you want to store. (Think Hall of monuments Armor area)
They could then also sell mannequin heads for the festival hats.
*Edit – If they don’t implement player housing this could be added to your Home Instance
(edited by The Last Jagaroth.1652)
One word – Stockings
Valentines Day – Charr
It would be hilariousness to see Charr running around with little wings and love bows
I think the Aura are a great design and they really break that “punt short race” mentality.
However, they give me that “don’t feed them after midnight” feeling.
All Tixx needs is a white Mohawk to finish the look
The Santa Kodan would have to be drinking a Coke though.
I personally would just like to see some a person in Lions Arch with a pot and ringing a bell asking for donations. Then we could get rid of stupid mats that are clogging up the TP…like candy corn.
Think you are making a joke regarding the “Rebuild Lions Arch” NPC.
However, if not this would not help as we are talking about RL charity.
“Do you serve fresh Sylvari?”
“I guarantee this Sylvari was absolutely fresh before it was frozen”
Might be easier to do it with the purchase of gems.
Buy 2000 gems as a special purchase item, get a in game skin and a portion of the profits go to a charity.
I think that this is a great idea!
They don’t have to set up anything special just align with one of the many existing gamer charities.
You know…
When they pick a norn, you wouln’t see your average deers behind the cart…
Definitly dolyaks….
LoL – Randolf the red nosed Dolyak
If I were a charr, I’d be looking at that airship with a lot of envy. Who knows, maybe someday we’ll see a competition.
Oh I like this idea. A good hearted battle of blimps and players to decide who will be the following years King of Queen of Wintersday.
I see blimps with Snowball cannons firing at each other and being boarded by players using Wintersday strings of lights while wielding candy inspired weapons.
Of course we Norn will win with our suits of red and beards of white. Asura will make great worker elves for our toy shops
I whole heartily agree!
I would love to gift items and even gems to friends, guildies and family.
Speaking of family this would give those of us who are parents another great way to control purchasing by our children.
Good Afternoon!
I could not agree more that we need a little bit more communication.
In a previous post I said much the same thing. You know that the developers have meetings weekly to discuss these matters. Just a simple blog from each of the teams (sanitized for NDA of course) talking about the game would go along way.
That being said they are starting to do a little bit of that now. GW2Guru starting the 30th is having a monthly “State of the Game” stream with Johnathan Sharp. From what i can read it mostly deals with PvP but there will be a Q&A as well.
GW2Guru’s Anouncement:
State of the Game Stream
My original and quite lengthily but well worth a read if you are interested in my thoughts.
A Players Thoughts
Secrecy only breeds a Tinfoil Hat mentality
@dimgl
I am glad you liked it.
It was not meant to be a list of disappointments just an educated discussion of where we stand.
It will be interesting to see if this topic picks up any speed. I hope so I feel there is a lot here for us to talk over
@Avatar
Interesting idea – I assume you are talking WvW
Not sure how that would work PvE but it is an interesting idea

Future thoughts and Ideas:
I have a couple of ideas that are too late to implement now but could be upon future expansions. They might seem a little radical but that is the point of this game is to try new things.
Character Progression: Lets for a second say that the next expansion of this game allows our character to progress to level 100 that is 20 levels from the current standing. In my idea each level would get exponentially harder to achieve. Each level would require tons more XP than the last with completion of personal story, crafting levels, world exploration and dungeons (in story mode) required to achieve max level. In this Idea achieving max level would be the Legendary. In this model there would be 3 levels to each dungeon (Story Mode, Rare level and Exotic level). Story mode in this case would be similar to your personal story in that you can run it solo (how be it hard to do so) with NPC’s or with your friends. Rare level would require a 5 man party and would be for those who have not reached max level and the rewards for it would be of course rare gear. Exotic level would be for max level characters only and would be one of the ways to achieve Exotic gear.
Gear Change: This may be a balance issue but I have always felt that a player should be able to stat he gear as he sees fit. If we look at the current way gear is handled each level of gear as a set number per stat per level. This is a very rigid system and promotes power creep. My idea is a lot more flexible the stats of your gear would be handled similar to the trait system. You start with a finite number of points to be put in each piece of gear and as you level you gain more points to put in that gear. So then what is the point of having different levels of gear? Quite simply weight each point. The greater the gear quality level the greater the weight of the points. Example: White + 0%, Blue + 25%, Green + 50%, Yellow + 75%, Orange + 100%. This way a person’s gear will level with them. If you have a full set of Exotic gear the reason you would get new gear is for looks and set bonuses. Set bonuses can be abilities, looks, magic find anything that is not direct stat related.
Well right or wrong those are my thoughts. In conclusion let me just say thank you ArenaNet for a great game I really am enjoying playing and hope to for a long time and thank you reader for taking time to read this great mess of thoughts. I look forward to reading the responses on this both good and bad.

Dungeons: We will see how this new dungeon works out. I am still not completely sold on agony but we will see. However, the introducing new dungeons with each content release is smart, it is appreciated please keep it up. One change here that I would like to see is world first gear. This is gear and weapons (look only) that can only be obtained for beating the new dungeon first or within a specified time frame. This would probably be no more than one week after the world first. Title would not go amiss here (PlayerName) World First (Dungeon Name).
PvP: I do not play PvP much so I am only going off of others. From what I read thou these are the things that have to be implemented soon in order to hold these players Observation Mode, Dueling, Guild vs Guild, Private Tournament Servers and Streamed Gameplay. Again I am not much of a PvPer so those of you that are please chime in on this.
Guild Housing: In a recent interview Colin was asked about this and he admitted that currently there was no one working on this. Please, Please, Please guilds want this and they want it now. (I will write post later on this and what my suggestions are for it)
Black Lion Trading: Things are being added with each patch and this is great. However, expansion of items on this can only help with the bottom line.
World Transfers: The servers have balanced out as much as it will. Cut off the free transfer and implement gusting as soon as you can. The free transfers have only hurt WvW.
There have been a lot of arguments and emotions thrown about concerning the state of the game and the new design of gear with this latest patch. These topics are close to our hearts for many reasons and they all have their merit. I myself have put in my 2 cents for what it was work in a previous forums. In the end Anet has to make hard decisions in order to please a number of groups (Core, PVErs, PVPrs, Dungeon Lurkers, and yes its stock holders). Below is a very simplistic decryption of each most of us fall into more than one of these.
Core: Players want the game to be exactly what as was promised. Most have played other MMO’s and have left them because of the direction those games took, became disenfranchised or were simply board with the grind game play. Also in this group reside a lot of the original GW1 players that has faith that GW2 can run on the same principles of GW1. For the Core Players the game itself IS the reward.
PvE: Players want a large beautiful world with lots to engage them. Quests, Immersion, vanquishing evil and creating a legend are the reward for these individuals. For PvErs if you kill a dragon and save a kingdom your rewards should reflect that. GW1 did this quite well with receiving a max stat Item upon completion.
PvP: Players want a challenging battle of skill and organized team play to cast down their enemies at their feet. They want rewards that not only reflect their skill but also act as bragging rights allowing them to show their superiority in battle. PvPrs want leader board’s and ranking as their ultimate reward. Different looking gear is great but being top of the charts is better.
Dungeon Lurkers: Players are similar to the PvPrs in that they want rewards that not only reflect their skill but also act as bragging rights. However Dungeon Lurkers are different in that they want the gear rewards to be unique from others. Many MMO’s have made the mistake of nerfing a dungeon without taking this into account.
Stock Holders: Want all these players to keep playing the game and spending money on it. So it is in their interest to keep as much of the player base as happy as possible and spending money.
So is there a way to keep everyone happy? Human nature is no. However, ArenaNet is trying to do its best. Their biggest issue to date is not the changes that are being made but in their communication. This is not the first time their lack of communication has gotten them in trouble and hopefully they will learn from these mistakes and won’t be so tight lipped going forward. That being said, here are my suggestions that ArenaNet should implement to continue its longevity and increase its player base while holding on to the ones it has.
Bugs and Security: ArenaNet has been working their butt of trying to fix these issues and while they have come a long way there is still a long road ahead of them. With the release of this new patch also comes a ton of bug fixes so there is some light at the end of this tunnel. Security, while there has been an implementation of the beta authenticator that does not solve the issue for those who do not have a one of these devices this runs on. All of the other NCSoft games have build in a security feature that allowed you attach a pin to your characters with a virtual keyboard for input. I am not saying that we need a pin for each character but for the account it’s self might work. Also, I would gladly slap down cash for a KeyFob like the ones used in other MMO’s.
Communication: As stated by many, communication is a major issue. So how do we solve it? My suggestion is a once a week blog from ArenaNet on the state of the game. There was a good article in which Colin listed the various teams that are working on our game. A simple blog with a paragraph or so from each team would go a long way. The developers I am sure hold meeting every week on the exact same thing. Why not take that same information and let us know what they can. Secrecy only creates tin foil hat issues. Also, more Twitch Q&A would be nice.
Events: Everyone will agree that Bugs besides, ArenaNet has done an outstanding job in this case. New content each month, new areas, additional stories and more jumping puzzles continue to keep people engaged in this world. There truly is never a lack of things to do if you have the time.
Good Afternoon Fellow Tyrians!
I sat down this morning was looking over the forums again and started writing. This post may be a little disjointed and hop around a lot but I think that many of the points are things we all feel. Please read this in the spirit it is written a more of a brain dump of ideas and thoughts A dear diary if you will. I hope you enjoy this and look forward to your responses both good and bad.
Thank You,
Jag
So I know that we are still waiting for the official details regarding this new items / gear.
However, maybe just maybe this ascension (as long as it is not for a specific fight) can be added to your existing gear.
So you can get the gear already ascended or you can ascend your current gear.
Gear upgrade if you will.
Don’t know if this is the case but something to think about.
Jag
Hi everyone,
We’re going to publish a blogpost about the new ascended items on the Guild Wars 2 website. This should answer most of the community’s questions before the content is live this weekend.
Thanks for your patience!
Thank you!
Look forward to reading it
Jag
Good Morning,
I too share the concerns that this could be the beginning of the gear grind that so prevalent in other MMO’s. I hope that it not and this represents a one time change to GW2’s previous stance on gear.
That being said, if you are going to do this then save your self a little hart ache please just call the armor Legendary increase the stats and looks appropriately and let it ride. Also If I were you I would also increase the stats on Legendary weapons as well to balance out with the new gear. I don’t think that anyone would disagree that Legendary’s should be slightly more powerful than exotics.
Just don’t make the mistake to change the level tuning of the dungeons. The first time that a dungeon is introduced that is tuned more for those that have this legendary set you will see a bigger back lash then what has been posted here already.
Thank you for a great game and I hope it goes far.
Humbly Submitted,
The Last Jagaroth
P.S.
Please introduce legendary Dye’s (Fire, Star field, Transparent, Etc)
Yes this is true and there is some of that inherent in the Guardian Build its self and you can build for it to in the Trates.
Also, you have to be conscious of condition damage yourself… toughness does not mitigate it… vitality helps with that.
I was unaware that toughness did not mitigate Condition Damage. Kinda makes sense but it did not cross my mind
Yes,
That was my assumption that it was a balance issue and I don’t want to be one of those who want there cake and eat it too.
Oh well I will continue jump into the frey burn all before me and dodge, dodge oh and did it say dodge.
Jag
Omega
TY for your response.
However, it really does not solve the issue.
Sure I can go with Power, Toughness & Vitality on gear and Power, Condition Damage & Vitality on my gems but I no mater what way I mix it up I will sacrifice Condition Damage.
Any of the other mixes are worse IMO I would gain the Condition Damage but loose Power for some other stat I do not need.
Again what I have is working but I would rather be able to take more damage then to have more life.
Jag
Hey all,
I run a Burning Guardian so a lot of jump in the middle of the frey, swing my GW and torch everything
So the set stats available to me are Pwr, ConDam & Vitality which are great and seem to work however it is not optimal IMO.
What I really want is a set who’s stats are Pwr, ConDam & Toughness.
So the question is this, Is this combo of stats not available because it causes an imbalance in builds or was it just not a combo thought necessary?
Thanks,
Jag

BURN WITH ME:
http://www.gw2build.com/builds/pve-greatsword-condition-damage-7490.html
This is the build I am in the process of finishing. The Point of this Build is to have a High DPS while staying fairly mobile. This build so far has been great on PVE Single Target, Mobs and Group Events. It is terrible in PVP except in a Zerg where there is a lot of confusion going on. Like all builds it is not perfect and could use some tweaks. Please let me know what you think.
.
Armor:
CARRION DRACONIC SET – (Condition Damage, Power and Vitality)
*if they made a set that was – Condition Damage, Power and Toughness I would use that instead.
Pls make that set
Runes:
2 x Superior Rune of Flame Legion – (1)25 Pwr – (2)15% Burn Duration
2 x Superior Rune of Balthazar —-—-(1)25 Pwr – (2)15% Burn Duration
2 x Superior Rune of the Baelfire —-- (1)25 Pwr – (2)15% Burn Duration
Weapons:
Greatsword – Carrion Destroyer Greatsword
Sword —-—- Carrion Destroyer Sword
Torch —-—- Carrion Destroyer Torch
*I also carry a Scepter in my bag if I need to switch to Ranged.
Sigils:
Each Weapon – Superior Sigil of Smoldering
Trinkets:
Amulet ……. Carrion Amulet
Earings (x2) .. Chrysocola Orichalcum Earring
Rings (x2) …..Chrysocola Orchalcum Ring
Jewels:
Each Trinket – Carrion Jewel
Points of Interest:
1. The combination of Runes give me an additional (55% with GS) or (65% with SW & Torch) duration of my burn condition
2. My two choices in Zeal give me an additional 15% damage output
3. Every symbol and burn inflicts Vulnerability and Blindness
4. Every time I use Virtue of Justice a target is blinded
5. Virtue of Justice is renewed upon killing a foe (even if it is not the targeted foe)
Other Notes:
1. For mobs with knock back I switch out Judges Intervention for Hallowed Ground.
2. For Elite Skill most of the time I use Mistfire Wolves to add a little CC
(works great when going one on one with a Veteran)
Well this is my substitution I would love to hear any tweaks to this you have.
