For instance my real answer about map rotation would be Alpine with a new real WvW map. Not Alpine with DBL.
Polls like this give Anet the excuse that “This is what we asked for”, when in fact it’s the best out of a list of bad ideas. As well as giving them the excuse to not make another WvW map for a while.
But it doesnt matter, I used to play almost 8 hours a night, now I play maybe 3 nights a weeks, 2-3 hours each night.
Shows you which direction this gameis continuing to go really.
Anet dont want small guilds, they want zergs!
Just look at the costs of guild upgrades!
You think you are ever gonna get all the mats you need for it with 3 players?!
Small guilds and their buffs were vital for WvW.
After HoT small guilds lost those buffs and will take some some time to get them back, making them less important.
Is WvW too big?
At launch it wasnt. Every server had queues.
4 years of neglect and Deserted BL release caused so many players to leave.
Server mergers were Anet’s attempt to make WvW look active again across all servers, not just the top half.
Server mergers were anet putting a bandage on WvW, when WvW is actually having a heart attack.
I only voted to keep the DBLs as I know there are some people who like them.
My own personal opinion would be to get rid of it, make it a EOTM map v2 as that is what it really is.
Then get working on a real new WvW map!
You know this had been bugging me since launch!
Why is it what I can change my audio device and a simple program like TS automatically detects this change and swaps transmitting to that newly selected device.
Whilst in GW2 if I change audio device mid-game, I have to go to Options and Sound and change the Audio Device manually?
It annoys me so much, and surely if TS can do it Anet can?!
It’ll go down like this:
First Anet cannot control how a player plays and so they cant do anything about it.
Second enough people complain and it becomes a bannable offense.
Third, player just creates another free account, levels it up and is back on your BL flipping switches.
This is what happens when you have an open free for all style gamemode.
End of the day get over it, it’s annoying as kitten but then so are all those 12 year olds on Xbox live shouting abuse at you, but you dont see them being banned.
Banning a player for playing a game they want to is also wrong, they paid for the game same as you.
Like do you think germans are gonna ask anet to ban all other players who like to fight instead of pvd cos it’s ruining their fun and karma train?
Or the players who like fights being banned cos roamers want small scale fights instead of zerg fights?
Or guilds to ban pugs for running into a guild raid when the guild doesnt want them there?
There are things people hate in games, and those that actually like the things others hate. In the end what can you really do?
Yup see it all the time.
Guild raid keeps beating enemy guild raids. Enemy call for help, still cant win, enemy call entire server blob. “Yay we won!” Enemy stay together as server blob, you have to then call yours or wipe all the time.
That or guild raid doesnt mind a few pugs joining, no other commander on map, all map pugs join guild raid.
But the problem is the rewards and fights are with the blob. Players want fight and/or players want rewards.
With the right builds a single player can take a camp, yet when a zerg is running it takes the entire zerg to flip a camp.
There isnt enough small scale things for players to do. And there is no punishment for running in large groups.
Mixed Borderlands – As some people like the Deserted BLs, yes; thought I prefer scrapping DBL for a new WvW map
World Linking Schedule – No, linking servers has meant they’ve lost their identity.
Deployable Mortars – Hell no!
Deployable Cannons – Again Hell no! But please fix the ones on towers. What is the point of a canon if whoever is using it can only take a couple of shots before the enemy zerg lands a thousand AoE skills on it?!
Canons need to be higher so only staff skill one can hit it
Repair Hammer – Depends how it’s done. Dont want spies with multiple accounts attacking a canon on one account whilst repairing on another.
What if those 75% of votes are from PvE players there to cause trouble?
No they should not have done server mergers.
What they should have done is allow free transfers from the lower servers to the higher servers.
Some WvW servers have been stuck with PvE servers, which has dragged that server down in rank.
And again WvW is the only reason why there is a gem cost to transfer server, and now anet merged servers. Yet transfer costs are still there!
Get rid of server transfer costs! You dont need it for PvE, sPvP, only WvW which is unfair!
What fun was it to fiGht groups that didn’t want or were incapable of fighting? It goes both ways….
Sure if you are a small 5 man roaming group trying to capture a tower on your own, but when an entire server zerg refuses to fight, what’s the point of them being on the map?!
This is WvW, not EOTM!
Again this is a flaw in WvW and the ranking system, servers who like fights who end up being matched with servers who PvD, log off early cos it’s boring.
The PVd servers however prefer this, as they can then cap the maps and gain PPT, and give the illusion that they are the better server.
The old WvW devs have all left, the ones assigned to WvW now have no idea what to do.
lol I’ve been on a server where they used a spy to get fights! OR at least as many as they could.
You see the enemy servers, although outnumbering the server I was on, were just bad, even when they built arrow carts in open field, or their tower walls.
You see the enemy servers love to PvD rather than fight for a tower, even when they outnumber you 2 or 3 to 1.
Because the enemy died so easily, the enemy just ran away when they saw the front of out zerg, like literally either run into their closest tower, or waypoint away! They refused to fight at all!
So enter the spy who told the commander where the enemy zerg was, and we followed then or waited for them, and then annihilated them.
The enemy zerg even tried to go to other maps to get away from fights so they could PvD in peace! We didnt let them, but then they left to another map.
Dont get me, wrong here, we didnt use the spy to take towers when the enemy zerg was on the other side of the map, we used them to hunt the enemy zerg, we didnt care about about taking towers, even if the walls were taken down by either a small ally group or the third server. We simply went in for the fight.
What fun is there for them to run away?
What fun is there for server who want fights to see a larger enemy zerg just waypoint away in front of you?
This is a flaw in the WvW design. Zergs going round flipping and reflipping towers.
There isnt much incentive to stay and defend a tower.
The current plan is to rotate the borderlands maps each quarterly update. That said, now that we are actively polling the community, perhaps we can start exploring other options.
Quarterly rotation is way way way too long!
If you were to bring back DBL for 3 months, that’ll be 3 months during which all those players who came back will go back to other games and us having 50+ queues, even more now with server mergers, for EB!!!
Again your response shows that not much balancing thoughts were put into the DBLs, as the original plan for WvW was to have several maps one rotation, and those maps should obviously be roughly equal to each other.
DBLs were a gimmick, like EOTM, which is where it would be better suited; and WvW getting a proper new balanced map.
If you are sticking to DBL for the meantime it’d be better to go weekly or fortnightly, cos you know most of us hate DBL, do you really think we would want it for 3 months straight?!
Server mergers wont change players’ minds on the DBL, rather you’ll be forcing players to either play on them, wait for an hour or more for EB queue to pop, or leave the game for 3 months!
Some of the server mergers have ruined the efforts of some servers.
Aurora Glade were doing well before the mergers, almost hitting Gold League.
It get’s stuck with Blacktide and now it’s being dragged down.
Sure it’s made WvW a little active again, but when you ruin the efforts of a sever like this, it could force some people to stop.

What WvW needs is more PvD!
I say make all the home BLs only accessible to players from that server.
Add a decay timer so that a tower become neutrally owned so that players have to recap it per tick.
Yeah I’ve never understood the argument that “the map is boring”. That’s like saying a chess board or soccer field is boring.

Been waiting years for Anet to finally figure this out, even though we suggested a similar change years ago!
Only thing is I think the 2 hour skirmish is a little short. I think 4 hours would be better.
But then considering some casual players only play for 2 hours, maybe 2 hours is better as that player’s contribution will feel more worthwhile.
I cant wait to see how this changes the rankings! We’ll finally see which servers, cough cough german servers, like their nightcapping instead of fighting us on the field!
Yay, Anet gave us the old maps back.
Problem is that although we prefer alpine to desert, alpine as still 4 year old maps.
It’s nice to have them back, but we’ll get bored of them a lot faster this time.

They have no real relevance on anything! Not on activity, not on population.
The WvW playerbase was leaking like a burst pipe after HoT release and the new DBL.
Anet had to do something, and the one thing was players wanted the alpine BL back. So Anet gave us those, only updated it with the new HoT features, ignored the bugs and slapped it on our plate like that old school dinner lady who smoked and spat every 10 seconds.
First rule of WvW: Red = Dead.
Dont expect other players to leave you to your 1v1 just because you would.
4 years and still we get people posting threads like this.
So if the alpines are back on rotation, does that mean come this Friday reset, we’re back on the Deserted BLs?
No what happened is that player got bored of the alpine maps after playing on them for 3 years straight with very little content updates or even feature updates!
Finally we got new maps, which we all asked for. They got a few people to test the new maps and most gave feedback that it was too large and not that great.
Too bad, cos Anet spent what little money they assigned to WvW on the map, they had nothing left to fix it or make a new map.
We got stuck with the Deserted BLs.
So with so many more players leaving after HoT, and players not liking the DBL, everyone was queuing for EB.
Players were then eventually forced to play on DBL as who wants to wait 2 hours for a 100 queue.
So now after so much complaining, Anet finally have decided to reverse their decision on the DBL and give us back Alpine.
Problem is that it’s still an old map, with some of the new HoT bits added, but at least it’s better than DBL.
But how long will it last? How long before we get bored of alpines again, even though Anet are making it a rotation.
WvW Coming Back in Soon™
This is the issue with WvW and there is really only one real way to make it fair, but this would make a lot of people mad.
If you were in sPvP you want 5v5’s all the time, imagine if you only got 5v5 during primetime, but come nights, it was 2v5. It’s unfair for the team with 2 players.
The only real solution to WvW nightcapping is to make another queuing system.
If there are 10 enemies on enemy server, but you have 15 players, then the max number of players allowed from your server should be 11, and the rest enter a queue which pops when either the enemy gets another player, or one of your allies leaves.
This means all maps would be equal players throughtout the day and night, +/-1
But who wants that?!

As a support ele I have no idea what stability is!
I cant cast it on myself, and when I can it doesnt last long and recharge is way too long!
And as for getting the buff from others, well it seems I never get it either.
Who needs stability? I’ll just keep falling over for 5 seconds whilst my team dies and when I can finally move an cast my water field, everybody’s dead dave.

I think the main thing people should know before buying HoT is that is really DLC, not an expansion.
Anet got our money this year with this DLC, but now they claim to be working on another “expansion” to be released next year. Wonder how many will buy that?
Even is they arent from mainland china, some of them still did not speak english.
Part of anet’s reason not to do this is because of the language barrier.
But this doesnt really matter, even on EU servers, half the zerg isnt on TS, so arent listening. How many commanders still type in team chat? Not many. Pugs just follow the tag, language doesnt come into it.
So the reason Tyler has given is mute. The rest they havent listed.

You know something is wrong when the devs finally start asking WvW players what they want
DX9 is more CPU intensive. DX11 or DX12 update would help improve FPS and increase texture details etc.
Problem is Anet refuse to spend and money on it!
They claimed DX11 support would come within the first year after launch, but here we are in 2016 and they have not mentioned anything about it since!
This won’t happen for technical reasons (our NA and EU datacenters are entirely separate.) Though even if it was technically possible, there’d still be design reasons to avoid doing so, like that EU national worlds wouldn’t have NA partners that spoke the same language.
Didnt stop the Chinese guilds from joining T1 NA instead of playing on their own GW2 servers.

Please can you make it so that when you open a Weapons Box or Armour Box, and it then brings up a choice of items; it also displays which of the items you have already collected?
I have a Baelfire’s Weapon Box, and the only way to see which one to choose is to find the collection in the achievements menu and then check there!
This is too time consuming, I just want to click and go, not go scrolling through my achievements!

Anet already tried adding a big PvE event in WvW, it lagged the kitten out of the map!
DBL is more suited to be a second EOTM map, not a WvW BL map!
It’s only positive now cos you are picking up all the bags you missed in the last 4 years!
Imagine how much WvW players have lost because they couldnt pick up all their loot.
This WvW autoloot mastery should be available to all players, even those who have not bought HoT.
Come on anet, with autoloot finally working in WvW, players are seeing just how many bags they never picked up before due to all the fighting and pushing going on!
Players are amazed how fast their inventory fills now, so imagine how much WvW players have lost in the last 4 years!
But to add to insult, you make the provisions mastery a HoT exclusive?!
First it was pay to win, now pay to loot!!!
Not looked at the rewards in detail but I can bet that it’ll still be that the amount of gold a WvW players gets in a whole night’s raiding session will still be the same amount of gold a PvE player can get in 30 minutes in any PvE map.
Sure a lot of us WvW players dont play it for the gold. But then you see those PvE players boasting about their 50 Legendaries they’ve collected and here we are, still after 4 years of WvW, without a precusor drop!
Balance.
And wait for tonight’s reset when server linking comes into play!
You think 100 queues is bad, what you think the queues are going to be like when there are 2 servers trying to get onto one map!!!
So am I the only one who doesnt see much of a difference? Granted I havent played much but it’s not something that’s gonna save WvW.
There’s already a thread titles 100 queue EB, 0 BL, and this is now; this reset we apparently have the server linking, how bad are the queues going to get then?!

With so many disruptive players in GW2, and the lack of enforcement has meant the game has become teeming with them!
It would be easy enough to move all the camp guards closer to the center, so you’d always have to fight all of them to flip a camp. But to be clear, you guys are arguing that you want to do ‘more PvE’, which seems to go against the forum’s current agenda of ‘less PvE.’

Merging NA servers is one thing.
Trying to merge EU servers which have dedicated language servers, is a much harder task! Or are Anet just gonna get rid of separate language servers?

lol, I remember when HoT was announced and they were giving us a little details on what was coming.
A lot of us were asking where is all the content?! Surely this isnt it
And as usual the fanboys all rose up saying Anet wouldnt give us all the details, there was obviously a tonne more in the expansion, and other things would be released throughout the year.
Now that they know there isnt any more stuff, they only thing these fanboys can say now is “either buy it or dont buy it”
I still wouldnt call HoT a half an expansion, call it what it is, DLC! A small update charged at unreasonable prices!
