Well this is a poor start… just bought the game and registered and cant log in
this is how it was a year ago. maybe they simulate the original launch experience for you
Same 42:0:9001:4131 and I’m not using a university network.
Just activated some karma boosters, so if this prevents me to use them I’ll be deeply disappointed.
Can’t login. Have seen this error code often during the pre-start a year ago. Special anniversary event?

Yes. Living Story completion count towards Monthly as well.
Once again no usable mace skin
Does that mean I need to complete all achievement e.g. from Queen’s Jubilee or Queen’s Gauntlet?
Or only the meta-achievement which usually not contain all achievments?
still does not work after 6.8.2013 patch
tested again. seems to work as expected now
(edited by TheBlueI.3486)
Sharpening Stone works now with Splitblade. That is you can apply 10 stacks of bleeding on one target.
I don’t doubt that it is possible to make money with crafting but it requires a significant amount of effort to find the product. It is ok that it requires effort so the amount is debatable. I also doubt that it is more profitable than just playing the (rest of) the game. I believe it requires a significant upfront investment making it less possible for some players and have a certain risk that your items not sell.
You can make money with crafting but it is not easy, which is OK.
However:
Darksteel Helmet Casing highest buy price 1s
Darksteel Ingot highest buy price 2s17c
Platinum Ore highest buy price 2*88c = 1s76c
….
Ingredients price is significantly higher than crafted item price. This is true for a lot of items.
This means that (if I dare to say for the casual player) crafting such items, and you need to craft such items to level your crafting, wastes a lot of money.
So why should someone craft?
- Legendary: yes but if you do you already have enough gold that you don’t care
- XP: yes but there is so much XP that it is not necessary
- getting stats: currently not since there is enough supply on TP which is cheaper
- skins: currently not since there is enough supply on TP which is cheaper
So IMO, crafting is currently only good for legendary which is not an option for some(/many?) players. There should be more to crafting!

What about blocking and maybe even blinding as damage mitigation. Frequent burning.
Doesn’t playing to a professions strength always means master the profession mechanic?
As was once said by the devs Guardians are supposed to be boon warriors and feel strong when they have boons but weak when they don’t. Hence our strength would be to have as much boons as possible at any point in time.
It’s nice with Ricochet as well. Each thrown axes cause bleeding to everything it hits. So you can apply a total of 5 × 3 stacks over 2 or 3 targets.
I’m pretty sure this is wrong and one attack bouncing 3 times will consume 3 charges
I tested it multiple times on the training golems in the mists and in the open world. It’s also already in the wiki description.
I killed a champion which was my level, alone.
I got one item: blue gloves below my level!
The Command skill for Sword of Justice does not work. The Sword stays alive and attacks as normal. The Command skill recharges.
I tried all other spirit weapons which work for me. Some guild mates reported similar behavior for the Bow.
It’s nice with Ricochet as well. Each thrown axes cause bleeding to everything it hits. So you can apply a total of 5 × 3 stacks over 2 or 3 targets.
Splitbalde throws 5 axes that bleed the hit target. If you manage (close range) to hit the same target with all 5 axes it applies 5 bleeds to that target.
Sharpening Stone makes you next 5 “attacks” bleed.
When using Spllitplate in close range (hit same target with all 5 axes) after activating Sharpening Stone. 6 bleed stacks are applied and all remaining Sharpening Stone charges are consumed, i.e. you only apply 1 of 5 bleeds with Sharpening Stone.
Is this a bug?
I’m assuming that, just by doing your normal questing and dungeons while the event is still on, you’re gonna have enough quartz for a full set of armor
No not for my definition of normal. I’m now Basar Ambassador. I hava 8 charged crystals from the achievment and maybe more crystals for 1 or two more. That is my normals yields charged crystals for two armor pieces.
You should not be instantly geared. If you were where would the fun be
The problem is the balance between instantly and requiring an amount of effort that is fun which is obviously subjective.
For me even running dungeons often enough for the armor is a huge effort. Besides doing the same content so many times, the real problem here is I don’t see any need to get these items. In PvE you are fine without Ascended or Exotic gear. So where is the fun doing things you don’t need?
(edited by TheBlueI.3486)
Can someone confirm that I understand the requirements for Celestial armor correctly.
Crafting requires:
- recipe for the insignia
- recipe for each armor piece
- 5 charged crystals per armor piece
- 5 ectos per armor piece
7 recipes for account bound items sound expensive…
Are the stats available on other than crafted armor? Otherwise, I would need additional fine transmutation stones if I want another skin.
Until when do I need to finissh Bazaar Ambassador?
No. Ascended accessories have already forced us to focus too much on a single character, when alts could and should provide enhanced long term playability. Armors and weapons will make that issue even worse.
We never should have had Ascended anything, but hopefully ANet has seen enough to know how much of a mistake they made when they headed down that path.
You know, the concept of Cosmetic and Prestige rewards, in lieu of gear inflation, could have worked if they could have pumped out quality skins and other specials in a timely manner.
It could still work, but they’d have to add a few more artists who can actually design and produce stylish and desirable skins for it to work.
+1
I want items that are valuable. Everything but exotic (or ascended if available) is useless. Having ascended armor and weapons would reduce the value of exotic versions which means more useless items…
IMO introducing more “item levels” is a bad idea.
I selected the option in the menu. But looting works as usual: approach target, F for each target.
the 2 builds I’ve always seen Guardians use.
There is something else than AH?
How much extra healing does an extra 250 healing power actually translate to?
Every skill that heals has a specific healing power coefficient that defines how much it benefits from healing power. See the wiki for numbers.
I really like the Norn wolf elite (in PvE). Its ability to steal health can fully restore your HP from multiple targets. It gives fury and regen to allies which plays nice with AH.
Do conditions trigger Zealous Blade healing?
wiki says “any damage-over-time effects” Does that include damage conditions?
What about damage ticks from Binding Blade?

wiki: “Reducing ‘The Dragon Bash Experience’ meta-achievement required total number from 10 down to 8. The Dragon Ball Achievements do not count towards its completion.”
This is ….
I played it for the achievement. It wasn’t so bad but I wouldn’t have played it otherwise.
With my limited playtime I chose achievements that I could do to get the meta-achievements.
I can’t see any reason why it would not count. Other “meta-achievments” (e.g. daily) let you chose a subset so why can’t we have this here?
Besides that. Why is it so hard to give clear information about such things!!!! Why can’t the UI show which achievements count and which not?
So far the event has only frustrated me.
1) All the achievements take outrageous amounts of repetition to get. The pinatas, fireworks, oh good lord… and competing with people to hit the holograms, just love that stuff.
This.
Pinatas and firework are a nice idea but doing this a hundred times is …..
Firework is really bad due too camera angle. It’s not really possible to look into the sky.
Achievements that does not count (Dragon Ball). wtf
I hate that too. I play mostly PvE. I only played dragon ball in order to get the achievment. It’s not bad but I would prefer to play the real game.
didn’t count as it was a disadvantage to those who pve mostly
Why did crap tossing count?
It should be possible to choose a subset of achievements yourself.
There should be precise information on what counts and what doesn’t.
As far as I know: Yes with a transmutation stone.
I’m not sure what happens if the item is soulbound and I want to transmute the wings do an item for another char.
Mod jon_peters: every single trait line is seeing at least 1 change
Mod jon_peters: some I think are getting as many as five changes
2/10
Story is boring. This once again showed that the “no quest hub / dynamic events” system is not as good as it sounds. Upon arrival on the Island you can talk to NPCs telling you the usual “the world is in trouble please help”. Than you wander off in hope of finding a dynamic event. Events repeat extremely frequently. So you’re doing the same thing over and over again.
As all other areas this suffers from low player population. (maybe that’s just my server / play time)
I hate running around trying to find things without a hint. This detector-thing din’t work during the Mad King Event and still does not work.
I hate jumping puzzles. I hate crap tossing. Hence I hate that both are required to “complete” the special event.
Canach-solo-dungeon. As usual I think the mechanics could be better explained in game.
Environmental weapons are nice but I developed a build with my char and I want to use and test it in in new content.
I still give 2 points for developing new content at all.
I tried to rename my pets. The name gets reset after re-login.
Guardians are great. Almost everything you do automatically helps nearby allies as well.
All builds work more or less in PvE. So I can’t seem to find other great builds than AH. Many complain about the lack of ranged options.
I think heavy armor and a few weapon skins that are available to the guardian could be better.
What could be the reason for no scepter change? I cannot but wonder why.. and no, i don’t believe in a one-month time frame :p
possible reasons:
- they don’t want to
- it works good enough as it is (even if you think it does not)
- the “problem” is not important enough (e.g. still fixing traits)
- busy with crappy crab tossing
- Perfect Inscriptions trait: Now functions in PvE.
Yeah 9 month since release.
Harder then you think. Consider different languages, which vary in length, re-sizable windows…
This a minor problem. But I agree that it is a problem.
It worked for me again after -repair, might be a coincidence.
The “Sell Your Stuff” page remains empty, regardless if opened via TP menu (O) or when right-clicking an inventory item and select sell at trading post.
I have sell-able items in my inventory.
The buy button is also disabled.
Gem changing doesn’t work. My Gems are not shown in the TP window.
Tried closing and re-opening it, still don’t work.

I’m looking at Rune of the Forge because I like protection and it has some synergy with Fiery Wrath. Also both Runes grant additional toughness to synergize with Retributive Armor.
Rune of the Forge gives 165 toughness, that is 165*0.05 = 8.25 precision from Retributive Armor. At level 80 it takes 21 precision for 1% more hence this is less than +0,5% crit.
On the other hand Rune of the Pack gives direct 100 precision (4,76%) and a chance for fury (20%).
I tried Pack in the Mists: The swiftness buff doesn’t help much but 3 boons for up to 5 allies means 15*AH-healing + enhanced Empowering Might. So the 3%/5% chance felt very weak.
Unfortunately, superior runes a expensive and are destroyed when trying others so it’s really expensive to experiment with them.
(edited by TheBlueI.3486)
its 12 secs of protection
It should be 13secs, including the 10% boon duration from the 10 points in Virtues.
I think what would make banners more viable is to make it so when you use a banner skill, the banner is attached to your back. Placing a banner on the ground barely has any use, because fights in WvW seem to move around alot.
Idk i think it would be cool to be running around with 3 banners attached to my back.
The problem with this argument is that GW2 is is more than WvWvW.
If you want to keep the effect of the banner hold the banner. What’s wrong with picking it up again before moving?
I think that banners and their possiblity to be picked up by allies has great options for team play.
With the new patch the banner of Disciplin can mean +28% crit and regeneration for 95s for a party. Wouldn’t it be overpowerd if you could keep this without any effort?

Human T2 helm

maybe Seraph or Kryta’s Embrace
Please post what you have choosen. I’m looking for a mace for months.

any update on this?
You would gain the Regeneration boon on the F1 adrenaline use ability.
The regeneration from the grandmaster trait is an immediate passive effect that improves banner-skills. I dont’ like the idea of having to activate it manually. Besides all F1 skills do damage. Regen would not fit as a burst.
A burst skill for banners (maybe even for specific banners) would be nice. But it should not be Inspiring Battle Standard. I think it would also be an improvement to have more different skills on different banners. Condition removal could be a specific skill on Banner of Tactics or Defense.
(edited by TheBlueI.3486)
banners the least mobile skills in the game
They are ground-targeted can be picked up, carried around and planted somewhere else (multiple times) and have an AOE.
Sounds mobile to me. Ask a Guardian how mobile his symbols are.
A major improvement to viability of banners would be to remove the Grandmaster Banner Regen trait and add it as an F1 option when a banner is held by a Warrior.
If a Grandmaster banner trait is even needed afterwards, the trait should be condition removal (like a 1 condition removal passive per 10s pulse, adding viability to having multiple banners out) just to have comparability to Shouts Grandmaster trait. Condition removal is the primary reason why banners are inferior in almost all respects to Shout instant utilities/heals.
Requiring a button press (F1), for a passive effect for the whole life time of the banner is weird.
If I understand the mechanic correctly, then the regeneration from two banners would stack (which may actually allow permanent regeneration). Why is that not viable?
